20 Best Vegetables For Pasta (2022 Updated)

We tried this pasta today. Bought some at Smith’s a few weeks ago because it was a closeout sale. My husband made shrimp and his fradiavolo tomato sauce and it was so good. I would highly recommend this pastatoday.

I’ve been using MH for the last 15+ years and have even ventured to try a couple of other brands. MH’s Pasta Primavera is my favorite meal! The ratio of noodles to sauce is perfect and the flavor is fantastic.

The only request I would make would be to increase the veggies a bit.

Not sure if I got a bad batch, but I let the noodles in bubbly boiling water sit just over a half hour and still had some crunchy noodles and very soupy water. I would suggest using maybe even half the water and letting it sit over a half hour if yours is like mine due to how runny and crunchy it was.

Flavor wasn’t terrible.

I bought a variety of different items to taste test them before making larger purchases. I really liked the pasta primavera and added it to my list of meals stock. It’s a satisfying and tasty meal even in a non-emergency situation, and I imagine it would all the more so in a true emergency situation.

Made this pasta for the first time last night. I felt everything about this pasta was special. Reading the side of the box, it is obvious Eden Organics is proud of this pasta, and for good reason. The ingredients are all USA farm grown, organic, with each color of pasta being created from an organic vegetable.

The pasta is crafted on vintage Italian equipment and slowly air dried. It is a beautiful pasta and even the foam while it’s cooking is creamy and lovely. My family really enjoyed this and I plan to buy it frequently.

It costs a bit more but the quality is worth it. Do watch the cooking time. The box says 7-10 mins and mine was al dente in exactly 7 minutes.

Great product, I was able to trick my kids into eating these and had no complains. I would say tho they do take a little bit longer to cook. My first batch was a little bit harder than I expected but the second time I cooked for longer and they were great!.

The vegetables in the pasta make an exceptional addition to add a little pizzazz to ordinary pasta dishes good job eden

I’ve been using this brand for several years now. When cooking on the stove top I use the method suggested on the front of the bag. I’ll boil the pasta for 90 seconds and then turn off the heat and put a lid on the pot.

The only difference in cooking is that I start with half the time suggested for cooking this way. Then I’ll add one minute of cook time until I get the “doneness” I like. (Sometimes that may be an additional few minutes over the initial cook time.

) I’ve found that cooking it for the whole time, even with the stove off, makes the pasta too soft/mushy. When cooking in an electric pressure cooker I find that my mushroom stroganoff recipe cooks well with only about four minutes of cook time.

We do not eat wheat or corn. I have been using Tinkyada rice pasta for years. After trying several other brands that were gritty at best, and then discovering Tinkyada, I began recommending it to everyone I know.

I have served it both hot and cold, with various sauces and dressings, and no one has ever guessed that it was not good quality wheat pasta. I wish all of the shapes came in organic, but I’ll take what they make! I like that each package has alternate directions for either energy saving cooking or regular boil it the whole time cooking.

I have used both methods. Currently there are other brands of rice pasta and rice/quinoa pasta that are as good, but ounce for ounce. you’ll not find a better buy for your dollar.

I just recently stumbled across the Tinkyada pastas because I have developed a lot of allergies. Or redeveloped them really. I’m allergic to wheat and legumes/soy as well, so rice pasta seemed like the way to go.

I am soooo thankful for these products!! They cook up very similar to any other pasta and they taste great. I have used them in soup and to make cold pasta salad and both turned out wonderfully. So glad to find a product that I can eat without crazy allergic reactions.

I love Barilla Pasta because their brand never fails to disappoint. The pasta when form correctly boils for 10 minutes to make the perfect al dente. I love the box too because half a box is just enough for 2 people and you can easily save the rest.

Their pricing is also fair for the quality and the taste always delivers.

The only difference between the veggie pastas and regular pastas is the veggie pastas LACK fiber but ADD certain vitamins (depending on the veggie mixed in) which is what my family was searching for; We love it! Kids love it! Tastes great with tomato sauce, vodka sauce and Alfredo.

For me those tiny pastas are gut friendly and are great in a hearty soup. They puff up nice and hold well in soups for a couple of days, if your it last that long. Very tasty, good fiber and protein.

Eden’s Kamut pasta has been a pantry stable for my family for a couple of years. I will continue buying it, lots of flavor, affordable, and no belly aches for me.

Barilla makes amazingly good pasta! I have been using Barilla noodles for years and have always used them for my pasta needs. I use Barilla because I know that my pasta will be made with quality ingredients that cook up perfectly making my meals taste amazing.

This time I tried the thin spaghetti for my shrimp dish and it was a hit! The use of the thinner spaghetti gave the chance for the other ingredients to shine through. The thin spaghetti gives that punch without the bulk.

The thin made the meals not sit in our stomach, it gave us a chance to still want to spend time with family even after a large Italian dinner. I definitely recommend it!.

Social Nature let me sample Veggiecraft Farms Pasta for free and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. It’s plant based and gluten free. which is a plus. It’s tasty and easy to fix. The biggest bonus is that it’s healthy.

I made macaroni and cheese using the cauliflower elbow. My entire family enjoyed it. I highly recommend Veggiecraft Farms Veggie Pasta to anyone that is trying to eat cleaner or gluten free. It’s a great alternative to traditional pasta.

I wanted to try the sweet potato penne and was able to find easily at Kroger with a lot of other varieties from VeggieCraft Farms. ( Spaghetti will be the next one I buy and the cauliflower rice looks good, too 😋 ) This product has 23 grams of protein, made with 3 ingredients – lentil flour, pea flour, and sweet potato flour – and is GF, Vegan, and Kosher.

The flavor was really good and could easily replace your usual pasta with no differences – and takes less time to cook. My only problem was with texture. I know most of these pastas don’t hold up as well as traditional pasta.

I will say this one was better than some other brands with that issue. But even with that, I would try their other products because the flavor is great.

I received a #freecoupon from @ripplestreet for this. The texture was just like regular penne. Butter did not melt smoothly. Directions say be sure not to overcook. I probably undercooked. Not sure what it really tasted like.

Didn’t care for it plain but smothered with sauce abs meatballs it was ok. Glad I tried. No need to repurchase.

It does only contain 3 ingredients in it, which keeps it simple and healthy. However, the taste of the pasta is very bland, even after adding salt, pepper, olive oil and garlic to the boiling water to help with more flavor.

You have to cook it much longer than the instruction say and even after that, the pasta is still oddly chewy, kinda of chalky and firm. I have even tried to mix it with other pastas 50/50 but because of its distinctive taste & texture, it still unpleasant to me and my family.

I only use it now for dog food. I cook my dogs food everyday with fresh chicken, pork, beef, salmon, veggies, brown rice or this cauliflour pasta as a good source of fiber & protien, so at least it’s good for something!.

My favorite pasta! Oh Yes! Veggie and delicious. Easy to do! You don’t feel the strong flavor of spinach or carrot. With this product you can make different recipes. I recommend it and will continue to buy it.

this is a nice pasta! i like the variety of veggie flavors, all of which are yummy. i dinged a star for personal preference— i don’t love that they’re smaller penne than normal. i would prefer full sized.

I love this to keep this in my pantry, I think it’s great for kids especially! I have a toddler and the different shapes and colors really keep it interesting and fun to eat plus the full serving of veggies.

I have always wanted to try my hand at my own homemade marinara, but have been wary I could do it justice. Figured I would grab some imported tomatoes and do it the right way, so grabbed Colavita’s crushed, cherry, & datterini tomatoes, and start with that.

I loved they came in a box. I wish more products would switch to these, as I find them easier to use as well as better for the environment. The flavor of these crushed tomatoes was incredible. They’re bright red and thick and taste like I smashed them myself.

I mixed everything today with a little fresh garlic and oregano, smashing up some of the whole tomatoes and ate it with fettuccine pasta. My husband couldn’t get enough and really couldn’t believe that I had made the sauce.

I love using these for when I make pasta salad. They hold all the fixings. Also really great for homemade Mac and cheese, Alfredo, pretty much anything you could think of. They don’t take long to cook.

I would absolutely buy this again. They’re so versatile.

Great cheese lasagne for a frozen, as there aren’t many frozen options out there. Most are mystery meat varieties. I actually prefer meat or spinach lasagne but only homemade as frozen varieties are always too salty and the meat has no distinction.

My one big gripe though is the sudden price increase of over 75 cents per box! Food prices on so many items are becoming increasingly expensive it’s forcing many of us lower income folks to have to seek out cheaper alternatives and or supplementing with community food boxes.

This pandemic has had so many nasty consequences.

one of the better lasagnas. All the cheese that are supposed to be there, are there. Sauce could be a little better (the trick is to cook the sauce for hours and using the right spices), but still decent.

How other companies call it lasagna, and not a stich of ricotta can be found, amazes me. Found the recommendation in a dependable article reviewing 20 frozen lasagna meals, and I was both shocked and skeptical until I tried it.

I love Great Value brands for most of my shopping. However, I never really trusted that their lasagna could be as good as Stouffer’s. I was so wrong! It’s deliciously cheesy! This is now my go to for lasagna! I get the same great taste I would with one of the more name brand lasagna’s without the price.

I have 4 bags of Birds Eye Veggie Pasta in different versions in my freezer right now. I love that it has the texture and shape of traditional pasta so you get a soul-satisfying meal and it’s versatile to mix with other veggies, mushrooms, ground meats, or meat substitutes.

And, no guilt from eating the high calories and high carbs from traditional flour-based pasta! I like the tomato sauce – not too sweet and mixes with just about anything I choose to throw in the “pasta.

Tried these as an alternative to zoodles, and am shocked at how much they taste like pasta. They couldn’t be easier to make and are very sayisfying (even going with the recommended serving size, which is usually so misleading!).

Only slight negative is that I would prefer to add my own sauce to plain noodles. It’s simple enough to make it your own creation, adding a protein or extra tomato sauce of your preference.

So this is another one of my psych foods that I enjoy eating because I’ve been on a diet. I call it psych food because it makes you think you’re eating something you are not. This is made from vegetables and it isn’t like you’re eating pasta but the way it’s made it makes you believe you are eating pasta and it actually tastes like pasta as well.

The thing that you have to be careful of is sometimes these bags will give you one calorie total but then you have to read it because it may be multiple servings. Even though it’s terrific and better for you then any traditional pasta could be.

It’s easy to prepare because it’s microwavable and it is extremely filling.

I purchased these squash spirals. The flavor was a little bit strong for me. Yet, it reminded me of macaroni and cheese. I used the Alfredo sauce on these squash spirals for dinner. It was a quick and warm meal.

It does have fewer calories than regular pasta.

Fantastic way to add more nutrition!! Can be used to swap out for noodles entirely or served mixed in with a pasta. Really convenient for someone who doesn’t own a veggie spiraler, though not the most budget conscious product.

Overall a favourite of mine that I try to keep on hand for those days when I don’t feel like cooking anything crazy and don’t want to be bloated all night.

These are an absolutely delicious alternative to noodles. I love using them as a side dish, they already come in a lightly seasoned butter sauce. But they’re also fantastic to use in place of pasta, for a gluten free meal.

Absolutely scrumptious with any type of pasta sauce you want to add to them.

I have been buying this for years for all of my babies and it’s been a firm favourite with all of them. I’ve always skipped the baby rice which is very bland and tasteless and I went straight with this one and a couple of others like the fruit and yoghurt porridge and the Mediterranean vegetables with rice so that my babies first taste is with something with flavour and smell so that they get used to solid foods quickly.

It worked everytime even though I had the most fussiest and problematic eaters ever! So much so that all of my babies were under the care of paediatricians! But like I said these first foods that I’ve mentioned were a firm favourite with even my babies!.

Always bought this when I weaned my first two. now 7 yr old and 3 yr old. and now my 6 month old baby loves it too. So easy and convenient. esp when your out. make up with hot water and meal is ready.

The other ones are lovely too. (Cheesy veg pasta and sweet corn pasta?) Babies have always been happy with these.

This brand of porridge is the only one my baby will eat. I like that there’s a selection of different flavours so we always get banana. It’s really smooth once it’s mixed together and smells nice. I’m disappointed that the 7m one is always out of stock but its easy to add to this porridge and make it more filling.

We add mashed banana or fresh berries & chia seeds.

This was so good! I made it last night and added my bolognese and some fresh parmigiana. So taste. Even my 9 year ate it —- I did warn him that it wasn’t traditional wheat pasta before hand, but he was still impressed.

My husband also remarked on its tastiness. To be honest, I was expecting it to taste like cardboard. What impressed me the most was that my seven month old was able to eat it up — or I should say gum it up — without any problems.

 I bought this at Costco. And I will definitely be buying it again. Plus there’s no guilt in eating this I actually felt like I was doing my body a favour in controlling my insulin level and keeping my carb count down.

Plus I didn’t feel tired after eating those like I usually do with wheat pasta. I felt remarkably energetic. Mind you, I would recommend eating it with a Bolognesi or a tomato based sauce. It’s kind of bland on its own.

It needs to be spaced up to be palatable.  Also it likes water it soaks up a lot of the sauce so the pasta can get dried up quite quickly.  A pro tip would be to make your sauce a little bit on the watery side before mixing in the spirals in with it.

As a foodie (I write for a food magazine) with multiple food allergies, I have sought a wheat/corn/rice/egg/rice/soy/sesame/potato free pasta that has a pleasing texture and mouthfeel, plus the most important quality– great flavor.

Living in Alaska, I am also an avid skier and hiker, so getting protein is important to me. Chickapea checks all the boxes. It plates beautifully, is delicious, and protein-packed. Plus, my gluten/allergen-loving partner (who is also a doctor!) also adores it! I am particularly excited about the new lasagna — I haven’t had lasagne since my diagnosis 14 years ago.

Chickapea plant-based pasta exceeded my expectations. It had the taste, texture & mouthfeel of wheat pasta without the carb overload & lots of protein. Because the protein content is so high, I could make a pasta primavera and not worry about adding extra protein to keep from getting hungry later.

After sautéing carrots, celery, onion, red pepper, mushrooms & tomatoes with my fresh garden herbs of basil, oregano & parsley, I simply tossed that into the cooked pasta with a topping of grated romano & parmesan cheese.

It made a tasty & satisfying dinner without the need to snack later & no sloggy carb overload feeling either. The company is women-owned & they donate to school lunches for needy children, more reasons to like this org.

High fiber & protein, reduced carb, plant-based, and tasty makes this a big thumbs-up for me.
