I bought this product to see if I’d like it enough to use as a pantry ’emergency’ staple – something to have on hand for those few times when I really didn’t feel like cooking and just needed something for a quick lunch or supper.
I don’t eat animal products, not at all, and it was nice to be able to have something vegan on hand without wondering if I’d checked the ingredients thoroughly enough. I trust Dr. McDougall’s research and method(s), so I was glad to find this instant soup.
Many people would probably love it. I was not fond of it, though – I think it was the spices used. I’m not a big ‘fan’ of ‘Southwest’ flavors, anyway. Still, try it, you might like it. It’s got good ingredients in it, and it’s something that will fit into a healthful eating plan.

This is a delicious and fastly convenient noodle soup. The flavor is great, the texture of the noodle is firm and the broth thickens as hot and sour soup should be! My only complaint is the portion size.
This is really more of a snack size than a meal size.
Swanson recently offered a sale on McDougall’s soups. I jumped at the opportunity to stock up on two of our favorite varieties because I eat these soups almost daily, especially during cooler weather.
I am a big fan of these soups and hope Swanson offers attractive specials on them again. I have tried several McDougall soup varieties and my favorites are: Hot and Sour, Spring Onion, Tortilla and Split Pea.
I make all my soups from scratch and they are wonderful and superior to anything on a grocery store shelf. BUT these convenient, instant soups are utterly amazing!.
I am a vegetarian so really jazzed to find a nice spicey Hot & Sour soup. I took one star off the rating because this is not your typical “just add water” instant soup. I have to boil it in a pan, breaking the noodles apart as it boils.
If anyone figures out a better way of preparing, let me know.

I never write reviews but felt this one was needed. This is a scam:1. It’s a tiny amount of ramen, a ridiculously small quantity, basically a snack. I bought it because I saw it and thought “there’s no way this is enough.
“2. Love that there’s a huge seasoning packet, but that doesn’t matter if the seasoning packet is as bland as this one. It was no better than licking some okay tasting dirt. 3. Why is there an oil packet if it does nothing? The one I got was “spicy,” there’s nothing spicy about this.
It’s as spicy as maple syrup without any sweetness, or flavor. For 1/6th of the price you can get a Maruchan packet, (edit, it’s actually 7. 5 that’s, 8 packets of Maruchan) and get twice the amount of food.
Maruchan is salty but that’s better than dirt. The price is because it’s “organic” but if this is an acceptable food for people who eat organic, they’re going to starve. At the very least it serves it’s purpose as being food.
Really good for healthy organic ramen. I grew up eating ramen, and no not cup of noodles. like the authentic homemade kind. Mike’s mighty is a good contender when it comes to instant ramen. I have to say the garlic chicken is my favorite.
I noticed it wasn’t flavorful enough when I used too much water and I didn’t cook the noodles enough so please follow the instructions for best results. I also ALWAYS add a protein like shrimp or shredded chicken and tons of veggies to bulk up my ramen because the portion is small.

I just had my first taste of this McDougall’s soup. Personally, i feel this is equal to or better than any hot and sour soup I’ve eaten in my life. Perfectly spicy recipe; thank you, Mary McDougall! Someone’s review said it had 200 calories; NOT SO! It’s only 100!! I could eat this all day long! One thing I did differently is that because it was so hot coming out of the microwave, I let it sit for 15 minutes, instead of the 5 it suggests, and that may have made a big difference in the noodles’ consistency.

REALLY GROSS. I should know better than to try random American vegan instant ramen, but it was on sale and I was curious. The noodle texture is AWFUL, super spongey, and it resists absorbing any of the “flavor” from the broth.
So it’s like eating BLAND SPONGE. And the broth? It’s just salty, no strong flavors or seasonings I could detect, and I’m a supertaster. AVOID THIS RAMEN.
There are many reasons to love vegetarian instant noodles. They’re quick and easy to make, they’re usually pretty cheap, and they’re often packed with nutrients. Plus, they’re a great way to get your daily dose of vegetables.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind when you’re eating vegetarian instant noodles. First, they’re usually high in sodium, so it’s important to watch your intake if you’re on a low-sodium diet.
Second, they’re often made with highly processed ingredients, so they’re not exactly a health food.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy meal that’s also healthy and nutritious, you can do a lot worse than vegetarian instant noodles. Just be sure to watch your sodium intake and choose brands that use whole, natural ingredients.
