Installed in place of existing fan. Have to screw to joists leaving no option to orient fan 180 degrees if hole already exist. Hanger bars would alleviate this issue. Could orient fan between joists, not next to them.

Would not buy this fan again just because broan makes you buy a snobby priced fan just to fet 50 cents worth of mounting tabs to use with hanger bars in nicer models. So frustrating!.

Had to remove an older exhaust fan, which was no picnic. Installation of this new one was far easier and looks much nicer. Warning: removal of old units is not an easy job, prepare for the worst and hope for something better.

I did not have to go back into the attic to install this new one, all was done inside the bathroom reaching into the ceiling. Think ahead and it can be done. The fan itself is quiet, almost and pleasantly too quiet and it works GREAT! Removes steam almost as fast as a hot shower can produce it.

Great, basic exhaust fan. We installed this fan in our master shower (replacing a recessed lighting fixture). This is more practical for us – we have light and now coupled with an exhaust fan to get all the humidity out of the bathroom.

Wish we’d done this sooner – we’ve lived in our home for 20 years. The perfect purchase for us.

This product was well packaged and very easy to install. Do not be afraid to do this as a DIY project, I would rate this is easy. Besides how easy it is to install, this ceiling fan has wonderful adjustable color for the light.

Not like rainbow colors, but different types of natural lighting or office lighting and it’s very easy to switch between them. All you have to do is flip the existing wall switch up and down a few times and it will cycle through the different light settings until you find the one you like.

It’s not magic but it seems like it! The fan itself is very quiet. The cover pops on and off so you can clean it if you need to. The only negative I can think of is the metal housing has sharp edges and you might want to wear gloves or just be careful when unpacking.

Once installed these edges are completely hidden so it’s not a big issue. All in all a quality product and I am very happy with it.

This ceiling bathroom vent works really well. It is SUPER quiet and effective. I really like the bright light on it that could be dimmed. My wife tends to keep the vent on when she’s putting on her makeup just for the added light.

Two things to note, the light doesn’t operate separately. That would have been nice. Secondly, this was just not a slam dunk installation. I ended up spending the money to get a handy man to install.

The ceiling opening had to be cut quit a bit larger. He did have to go up to attic to be sure it was all clear and to clear away a LOT of insulation that would otherwise had dumped on the floor. He was here about an hour and 40 minutes to install it.

The good news, it seems worth it.

I upgraded from a 80 CFM and 2. 0 sone to this bad boy and WOW! Big difference. Not only is this quieter (1. 0 sone) but it is also more powerful (120 CFM). It also has a light to boot which my old one was lacking.

I really did not need a light but the power and sound er lack there of really sold me. It was slightly bigger than my old so make sure you measure first or you may need to make the opening bigger just a tad.

That was not a problem for me as again I wanted to move some air. I have it hooked up to a 4 inch insulated flexible duct with tape and a clamp. This vents outside through the soffit and swapping out old with this was a breeze.

I am very pleased with this fan and hope it last for years to come.

A sturdy and quiet bathroom fan that installed relatively easily and replaced a older unit. I was not able to use the two mounting brackets supplied. But a couple of 18″ wood 2×4’s above the the drywall worked instead.

The cost thru Ebay was great.

I was hoping to find out if there was an issue with the unit I have professionally installed. The specifications say it should be at. 8 sones which should be around 56 decibels. When I measured the decibels level of the fan it is reading at 66 decibels.

Could there be something wrong with the unit?.

Unit installed by reputable company. Technician could not get the grill springs to hold the grille to the ceiling. Was warned about this “problem” prior to purchase so “Shame on me. ” Will need to spend time and effort to make it work.

Works great. Was easy to install. Quality is very high. Smooth low profile cover is much better looking than most. Nice to see a US made product instead of all the cheap imported products in this category.

I bought this and was taking off the glass to clean it and one of the brackets that hold the glass broke. Cannot order just the brackets, this is why you have so many missing pieces as now I am going to the store and buy a new one and take the brackets out of it! Then return it saying all the parts were not there.

All you have to do is sell the parts separately!.

We had this installed by an electrician about four months ago, along with two other (different model) fans (that both still work great). The light started flickering and became a constant strobe. It’s too late to return it, and frankly I don’t want to deal with taking it out.

I watched the final stages of a beetle’s life through the shaded glass. Overall, looks good, but glitchy.

To chandler bulbs or clean, one of the decorative brackets is spring loaded. Pull that one out and you will be able to slide shade out.

I did a lot of research before purchasing a fan for our small bathroom. The one we had didn’t work very well, was loud as a jet turbine, and took forever to dissipate steam. I looked at all sizes, price ranges, sone levels but decided on this one based on reviews.

It was relatively inexpensive and simple–the fan, a flexible round metal duct, and the outside flap/grill. At first my father (who was helping with the install) thought it wouldn’t fit the stud wall space, but after cutting the metal duct considerably and taking into account the thickness of the siding, it fit just fine.

All we have to do is caulk around the flap/grill outside. For us, installation was easy since we are ripping our bathroom down to the studs, so cutting the opening to be a little larger (as our old fan ducting was smaller) was really not a problem.

However if we had tile on the wall already and we wanted the fan to vent the same way through the wall, it would’ve been a nightmare. if that were the case we may have decided to vent through the ceiling.

But since the slope of our roof is so severe, we would’ve needed a different kind of flap for the outside. See the pics for reference (disregard the brown streak on the flaps outside– we had a torrential downpour and our gutters overflowed.

I prefer quiet bathroom fans but this is a basic unit, so noisy. But with that said, it’s one of the only through-the-wall fans I could fine and it does the job. Install is simply: cut the hole, wire it to a switch, install inside unit, install baffle/vent outside.

I caulked that outside vent unit to keep the water from getting into the hole.

I purchased this for my PT room. There is a pool so venting moisture is #1. I also purchased a switch for this fan that allows the fan to operate by sensor as well as manually. My electrician for the project installed both the fan & the switch.

I wish that my house had the same ones. The ones that electrician installed do not vent outside and it’s a problem. 7-13-20 I just added pictures. Still works great, This fan set up is exactly what I was looking for.

The unit was received on time and in good condition. I installed it in a second bath without much difficulty. I ran a 6″ diameter insulated flex duct to a roof vent. I installed an optional wall switch with GFCI per the instructions.

After many tries during my initial attempt to operate the unit, I was unable to get the humidity sensor to react properly. My trouble shooting indicated it was most likely a bad humidity sensor. I’m a mechanical engineer so I have a pretty good understanding of how it should be working in conjunction with the timer and humidity settings.

After informing Broan of the problem, they sent me a replacement control unit rather than the humidity sensor I expected. Not sure why. I replaced the control unit and that did not fix the problem. Once again, I informed Broan and explained that my trouble shooting indicated the problem is with the humidity sensor, not likely the control unit.

They then sent me a replacement sensor assembly (cover with sensor attached). I replaced that cover assembly and was then able to get the sensor to work as it should, i. e. , timer setting and humidity setting.

The unit has worked well since then (a few months of operation now) however on occasion, the blower does not shut off automatically as it should per the timer and sensor setting. I believe this issue was mentioned in the instructions as probably due to abrupt changes in the ambient temperature and humidity.

I am able to turn the unit off with the on-off switch wall switch I installed. It has always then reset ok after turning its power back on with the switch. I would definitely recommend installing an on-off switch (per the instructions) so that you have manual control when / if needed.

I plan to install another ventilation fan in master bath, but I’m considering another option due to this issue. Although it is a minor issue, the inconvenience may be too much for the average homeowner.

No bathroom remodel would be done correctly without installing a good fan to remove moisture. At least, that is my novice philosophy. I purchased this one after reading a ton of reviews and I am very satisfied.

I can barely hear it when it’s on, was easy to install, and does the job. Highly recommend. Will be replacing the old fan in my other bathroom soon with the same but smaller unit.

This was my first purchase with Plumbing online and part of a large order for a future Kitchen and bathroom reno. I decided to install it in a medium size bathroom that did not have a fan or plumbing for one at all.

What sets this fan apart is not just how silent and effective it is at removing moisture but more importantly the built in humidity sensor. Basically this was connected to an on / off switch and is left on all the time.

The fan only activates when the humidity level rises, I left it at the default setting of 50%. It’s only been installed for three days but so far it’s exceeded my expectation. I will be purchasing an additional one for a new bathroom we are having built next month.

Purchased this fan for a small bathroom ( 55 square feet) and it works well in that application. My issue with fan is the OVAL exhaust nozzle ‘cone thingy’. Who thought of this?! You can’t put a round vent duct hose on an OVAL exhaust without some serious wrangling.

Not to mention, as a retro-fit into an existing structure you need to start your installation by throwing away the instructions. Seriously. Toss them in the recycle bin because they are of no use to you as they only have new construction in mind.

So, what you have to do is remove the motor/fan assembly from the housing. This is super easy just unscrew the 2 small black screws that hold the fan in place then unplug the wires from the harness thingy.

Keep close track of the screws and remember that the electric wire plug in is color coded. Plug it in exactly as it was so remember which color was on the outside. Connect the exhaust hose and your power supply being sure to tuck electrical connection into the housing.

Now either drill holes for screws or hammer nails through the housing and directly into the joist. Reassemble the fan by fitting it back into housing with the screws, plug the wires into the harness and replace the screws.

Easy! This method was suggested by Nutone when I called about lack of retrofit instructions. Fan works great and my only gripe is the grill as the measurements were taken from the center of the grill and didn’t mention the ends curve so it is not as wide on either end as it is in the middle.

This fan does not work. Sure it runs, and is quiet, but almost zero moisture gets sucked into it because it is so weak. You actually feel wind coming back at you when it’s running. I have to now replace it with a better fan.

It must just be the design. It uses a different turbine style design that has almost no suction. What a pain. My bathroom is so full of steam after a short shower it is dripping down the walls and you can see the steam just swirling around the vent but not going INTO the vent.

And yes, I made sure the backdraft flap is working.

I had to replace an old fan in a ceiling with many existing obstacles. The fan fit a space with very limited depth. Since the unit was designed to fit in a wall or ceiling, I hoped it would fit my limited space.

It did. The installation would likely be quite simple under most normal situations. Only after removing the old fan did I notice that I would need the four inch to three inch adapter supplied with this unit.

Though the adapter was not a deciding factor in my purchase, I was very pleased it was included. I don’t have a frame of reference for how loud 1. 1 sones should be, but the fan was louder than I expected.

It is not annoyingly loud, but do not expect whisper quiet. I did extensive research for a product that fit my needs. The fan does effectively move air and thus reduce humidity. The unit is probably as quiet as specified.

It fit in the space intruded upon by plumbing, wiring and ductwork. I am satisfied that the product is as advertised.

I had to cut a bigger hole to get the old nutone “developer model for $25” fan out creating more work than needed as I had to replaster/repaint ceiling. The installation of the new fan was easy and straightforward.

The fan looks great with the slim profile although the little holes on the side of the unit makes it hard to see if it needs cleaning. The fan pulls in waaaayyy more moisted than my old 25 cfm fan. The light is great and the ultraviolet I barely use and the efficacy is questionable.

I say just turn on the fan to get all the moisture out and you don’t need to worry about mold and mildew. Overall satisfied with this fan and would buy another one! My recommended tool/parts list for replacing an old ceiling fan: 1.

Dewalt multitool to cut ceiling 2. A good crowbar for prying out the old bathroom fan housing 3. 90 degree angle screwdriver attachment with philips driver bit 4. Duct tape 5. This fan of course 6. Wire connectors with flip switches – make sure UL certified.

Much better than twist wire nuts as they are more secure.

I purchased this to get rid of the much louder exhaust fan we had in our master bathroom. With Covid going on – the germ-killing ‘SurfaceSheild’ component seemed like a good addition so I went for it.

Pros: – The light is pretty cool. When it is very dark out, it can be a little intense but does a great job during the night providing enough light to relieve yourself, without having to turn on anything bright.

– The fan is quiet and powerful. There are 3 settings, I had mine on the middle. Sound is about 1 sone, and is not jarring, which is nice. Especially when you turn it on initially. – Does a great job removing the moisture while showering.

Does what it should. Cons: – A bit pricey, if you don’t want the SurfaceShield you can get something comparable for much less, it seems. – Couldn’t install it myself. I think any Vent fan would have been an issue – mounting brackets and previous install made it really hard to do myself.

I’d recommend you’d consider this before you purchase any fan – and line that up (unless it is a new install). Overall – happy with the purchase.

Not sure if i like it or not. Installation was easy except for the vent/light lid. It was a pita. I don’t feel like it’s very secure but time will tell. I would recommend a uv switch on the unit instead of the on-off-on trick.

I can’t chase my kids all day to make sure they leave the purple light on. other than that i like the slim line look and quietness!.

This product does not require venting to the outside of the home, whether it be an exterior wall or the roof. I was able to install it without concern regarding this issue. This was the only “ductless” fan I could find.

I installed it in my kitchen, but made sure not to install it right over the stove. It works like a charm! I use it briefly after cooking for discarding overpowering food smells, also for circulation of the warm air cooking creates.

I could not be more happy with this product.

I’m sorry this is a bad idea and can’t work properly. An exhaust fan has to have a place to exhaust it’s discharging air. Inside a wall or joist area isn’t the answer and for sure not one if the air is rich with moisture you are attempting to exhaust.

99. 9% of all wall or joist areas are more or less dead airspaces leading to nowhere. If on an outside wall it will be full of insulation and inclined to really trap any and all moisture. This IMHO is a great way to create a black mold issue in your casa that could greatly affect your health.

Buy this if you plan to use it for 3-6 months. We bought this fan for our master bathroom due to the high cfm. At first, everything was okay, but after around 4 months, it developed a grinding noise, too bad we lost our receipt, but due to the big opening, we bought another one, and throw the first one away.

And now, the second one created the same noise, and lucky we have receipt, but TOO BAD AGAIN, called multiple times, told by the rep that i have to email, then I sent an email, no reply for 2 wks, send few more emails, same thing.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The hole open is too big for other fans to fit. So THINK TWICE X 1000 before getting this fan or choosing this brand, as I am sure you will never able to get any help.

Btw, if you are willing to pay for the parts ($90+shipping), they can ship you the part within a week or so.

Low profile and looks great on a white ceiling. This fan was purchased for a bathroom remodel and it moves a lot of air. Sufficiently removes humidity from hot showers in a 150sq ft bathroom and mirrors don’t fog.

This fan is quiet enough to have a conversation without raising your voice. Very happy with this purchase and will purchase for next bathroom remodel. Exhaust is side-vented.

We bought 3 of these to put in each of our bathrooms as our old ones were worn out. I am very pleased with them. They are quiet and they really draw out whatever you are trying to get rid of. humidity from a hot shower, etc.

Two of ours has the light and one does not, but the point is that they work so much better than our old ones. I would say they are 100% efficient!.

I bought this bath fan a few months ago because this model was the only one that fit in my ceiling. This unit is very quiet and gives excellent air circulation. I would recommend the AERN80k for any bathroom as it’s an easy unit to use and have installed as Home Depot did not have a ton of models that would work for me and this one did.

The only thing this does not have a light attached but overall very satisfied with the unit.

Excellent quality and low noise. If I had to change anything it would be to re-design the spring loaded mounting coil to be more like the proven design of high hat lights vs. the sideways loading design which is somewhat clumsy but still works.

Amazing is this new light / fan this is more than a regular light is a fun light love it is everything in one chance color Bluetooth speaker and is amazing taking a shower with music perfect love the way you can pick the color that you want.

The white light is bright/ orange is soft and the blue make you feel that you’re inside the disco party a little bite pricey but 100 worthy .

Product works as advertised. Only issue is the connecting hardware is limited. If your fan/ light is in the middle of a sequence, the are not enough spaces in the wire harness; so you will have to splice in as pigtail.

Not a big issue, but a larger splicing block would be nice. Overall very happy.

I had one of these in my home. So when I remodeled my Florida condo, I naturally thought to buy another one. Its fun to have a speaker in the bathroom!

This fan is unbelievably quiet and has a nice low profile on the ceiling. I found the same problem with installation in existing construction that others did, namely, you can’t hook the lower part in the bottom section of the support bracket and swing the unit up without enlarging the ceiling opening almost 1-1/2 inches bigger than the unit’s actual dimension.

Here’s what I did to avoid that. Of the two sets of upper mounting holes on the bracket, enlarge the two lower holes so that they will fit over the heads of drywall screws. Use a rotary tool (Dremel type) with a cutoff wheel to cut slots between the enlarged holes and the upper small holes (use the width of the small holes as a guide).

Place the bracket at the right location and mark at the top of the slot. Install drywall screws at the marks, leaving them out just enough so that you can put the bracket through the enlarged holes and pull it down to the top of the slot with the bracket snug.

You may have to experiment with this. Once you have the screws adjusted properly, install the loose bracket onto the fan and work the assembly into place, hooking the assembly onto the screws and pulling the assembly down, I got lucky and didn’t take too long to get it hooked, and my ceiling cutout is exactly the right size for the installed unit.

If you need a nice, quiet powder room fan with light, I recommend this one. You can hardly tell the fan is running. Seems to be very efficient, as well. I could complain that, with one compact fluorescent light bulb, it doesn’t put out enough light.

I must also use our vanity light to get sufficient light in the powder room to use the mirror. Included with the unit is a GU24 CFL, 100-watt equivalent light bulb (the kind with two pins rather than the screw-in kind) which is in the warm spectrum and puts out a very yellow light.

So far, I haven’t been able to find a GU24 bulb that is in the cool, daylight spectrum to replace it. The fan’s lens is a true white, though. This was the reason for the 4, rather than 5 stars. If you don’t mind the yellow light, this would be a 5 star product.

I can’t speak to ease of installation, as it was installed by an electrician as part of a total bathroom renovation. I didn’t hear the electrician complaining, though. The price was very reasonable, and it is an Energy Star product.

I needed to replace an old ceiling fan and wanted a replacement that fit the footprint of the existing unit. I also wanted to lower 4 sones to a more tolerable level of sound. I searched many options and finally chose the “Air King bfqf 70 ENERGY STAR Qualified 70 CFM”.

I am very pleased with the quality of the materials, the instructions and the sound level of this exhaust fan. After I removed my old unit I was stuck with a size issue that needed very specific measurements.

The Air King unit filled that criteria and more. I wasn’t sure that the “plastic” unit would be durable (it is!) and that it would be as easy to install as advertised (it was!) and that the sound would be mcuh lower (and it defintely is!) I’m very satisfied with my choice.

and look forward to replacing all of my other bathroom fans with this model, as needed.

I love the overhead heat lamps and have used them for years in many of my different bathrooms. This one is no exception and better quality than most. My contractor hooked right up to my old ceiling fan, pay attention to your ceiling joists.

Nice high end look. If you are not going to be tearing up your bath floor anytime soon to put in floor heating this is a heart warming alternative that puts out nice radiant heat when you hop out of the shower or bath.

Works well! One bulb came broken. Chatted online with Lowes. They sent me another one right away. Got two negative comments : The electric box is very very small considering you have to bring in 3 electric wires.

Secondly, the instructions are not written for retrofit. It does not mention if the frame goes under or above the drywall. I first installed it above the drywall since it seemed to make more sens then discovered I could not scew the bulbs after the cover is on.

So be careful, frame goes under drywall.

The Aero Pure fanlight so far is performing great. I would give it 5 stars, but the provided switched didn’t even last 24 hours. We purchased two Aero Pure fanlight combo and had them installed by licensed electrician.

The switches provided in the box are very flimsy. Either the heat lamp wold not turn off or you barely touched the switch and the fan would turn on. If you’re planing on purchasing this, invest in a separate switch and save yourself some time.

Since the new switches have been placed everything is performing great. A note to Aero Pure – please have someone else make your switches. The switched provided makes your product look bad.

Installed the unit in the hallway that leads to the bedrooms to improve the air quality in my home. I monitor my air through a separate device and this lowered the VOCs and Co2 in the home consistently.

The general smells in the home from cooking and projects dissipate much quicker. Also dumps a fresh air smell into the home all the time. I feel it was definitely worth the work and price to get it installed.

Highly recommend the split exhaust vent hood that is an accessory, made the external penetration very easy.

I have a 325sf additional dwelling unit (ADU) that apparently DIDN’T need this but I bought it already so I had it installed. Yup, I can feel the difference of the air inside compared to before this was installed (usually muggy and because of construction outside, dusty).

It’s a bit expensive, but the quiet operation is worth the cost (others I’d compared were WAY noisier!).

During horrible wildfire smoke (AQI was 500+), this was a lifesaver when we installed it in our garage. The ERV easily cleared out smoke that crept in through side door entry, quite a bit longer if main garage door was used for entry.

That reduced the amount of smoke getting into the house if entering from garage. If you have a family member with asthma, etc. it’s a worthwhile investment. We kept it on 24/7.

The antibacterial light definitely makes a difference. Fan Capacity is great for a small bathroom. Very quiet and the automatic timer switches from regular light to antibacterial after about 40 minutes.

My only complaint is that the fan cover is a little flimsy, and the light bar easily pops out during installation. The cover springs are not that strong and don’t pull the cover up flush to the ceiling.

An additional bracket or stronger cover would be a welcome improvement considering the cost of this item.

We love the purple light! We have noticed a difference in the “water” running down the walls from steam. But it’s noisy to run. The fan makes a rattling sound constantly when running. Not happy about that.

I think the Surface Shield does do something, even if it’s just a night light. It’s a Broan-NuTone product and they are my first choice venting/lighting. Always reliable and always excellent customer service.

This fan looks like a great addition to a bathroom, but the quality was found to be lacking. We ordered 2, both of the center bulbs and one heat lamp didn’t work when we received them. Then 2 switches, one out of each unit, had to be replaced.

It was an absolute nightmare to wire and the instructions were vague at best. They’re both working now and put off a lot of heat. I haven’t used the fan yet but it does run. If I could do it over again, I would purchase something different.

I didn’t receive anything for this review, just trying to be helpful to future purchasers.

Decent fan. It sometimes turns on with just ambient humidity and doesn’t turn on when there’s humidity from shower steam. I do like that we don’t have to remember to turn it on and it does work well when it correctly senses the humidity.

Our 30 year old house needed vent replacements. I researched and found this air vent to be a better replacement. I had it installed by a contractor in 2 bathrooms and love how well they work a d especially how quiet they are.

I would recommend this product with confidence.

Love these things. I had them installed for a Pet Spa project we did. The maintenance guy said these things work wonders because they suck the air out and it’s super quiet. The only way I know they are on is by looking outside and seeing the vent flap open.

There is no order with these guys running.
