20 Best Ventless Garage Heater (2022 Updated)

It is eazy to put the feat on or wall mount. It warms the entire space well on low settings. The fan helps move warm throughout the area. The burner comes off and on at good temperature & the fan turns off & on by its self if you set the switch to do so.

It’s a great price. The burner cover hasn’t come in handy yet but I’m sure it will.

I bought this brand because the one I had quit working. I assumed this one was the same minus blower that the first one had. It only has 2 heat settings (lo and hi) where the other had 1 thru 4 plus would come on and off as temperature changed.

This new one works well and I like the fact that no battery was needed for striker but I sure was hoping it was more like my old Mr. Heater.

Works as described, heats the room very quickly, easy to set up. I do like that the thermastat is as stated and will turn off and on to regulate room temperature. Not pretty, but works well in our small cabin.

They state that these are GARAGE heaters although I do use mine for my 35′ RV with three slide outs with 8′ ceiling. I also installed a wall vent (with gate to control air flow) to provide fresh air from the outside.

The heater puts out a lot of heat. It will run for about 4 minutes and shut off for about 15 minutes in 40 degree weather. One 9 gallon propane tank will last about 6 days, almost twice the performance of my original propane furnace.

The feet and fan did not come with my heater. They were optional. I did purchase a WHF-100 fan and not happy with it. It is loud and does not put out that much air. It also does not work so well in auto mode.

Rarely comes on and briefly. I replaced the thermal switch from 113 degrees to 85 degrees and now the fan comes on and off at the right time. I am going to install a custom inline duct fan which should be quiet and force more air.

I also had a hard time to get the heater to light initially. I had to take the front cover off and light it with a match. After the first light it operated correctly and easy to light. Overall happy with the heater.

I had faith in this unit. After getting it hooked up, I found that since it’s ventless, it sucks oxygen out of the room. Had to open a windows and keep it cracked to not suffocate in the garage. Eventually, I got a formula down to keep it warm and breathable.

Worked decently well through the winter, but we are now barely 4 months in, and the regulator knob press in to light the pilot. I can do it manually by opening it up and holding down, but the secondary issue is that it won’t turn to gear when heated.

No customer support and no service centers within 200 miles. Buyer beware. This is essentially junk at this point.

Seems to be working well. I did not like the method provided for mounting it to the wall so I did my usual improvisation and added four points of screws with 1/2″ standoffs so it cant be knocked off the wall like the manufactures had supplied by a thin metal bracket just hanging by gravity.

I just used that to get it level and mine went into the wall studs at four points 2′ deep. I made the standoffs out of 1/2 copper pipe and flat washers at each end. It will not be going anywhere for many years to come.

It’s heat output is good, however a task to get it hooked up and running. It does not supply necessary accessories to hook up to anything including a propane tank. Required parts are better acquired from Big Box hardware stores where they have necessary brass fittings.

Employees of Tractor Supply lack required knowledge on such products, so do your research before investing in this device. One good feature is that is does not require external electrical wiring to operate.

Especially convenient in places where grid supplied electricity is sketchy at best. Overall, it is a convenient alternate source of heat, however, according to local energy providers, “LPG (propane) appliances can produce carbon monoxide when they burn with incomplete combustion.

Properly functioning gas appliances produce little, if any, carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide – CO – is a toxic gas that can be fatal. ” This is their warning. Do your research before relying on this device as a primary heat source.

I do not condone it nor condemn it. I have one and it serves it’s purpose adequately.

Installation instructions were clear. I went over them with my mechanical inspector before starting installation, and everything went well. People told me “Don’t buy a knock-off. Get a Modine Hot Dawg.

” Time will tell if they were correct. My father-in-law has been running a nearly identical unit in his garage for the last 20 years. You can vent horizontally using single wall vent pipe, but I went up through the attic with B vent.

Got all of the venting and gas line parts from a local big box store.

Took about six weeks to get, I didn’t think that was too bad considering the current climate of shortages and shipping problems. The unit itself is great. My first garage heater heating close to 1000 sq ft.

The garage is now use able in the winter and I’m out there so much more.

Purchased my heater over a year ago so I had it on hand to insure I had all the information I needed to insure the right electrical support was put in place. After the electricity was connected to the panel, I tested the unit but the fan was hitting the shroud inside so I shut it down to return to it later.

As the temperature outside was starting to drop, I took a Saturday to readjust the shroud so it wasn’t hitting. Unfortunately the unit stopped a couple of minutes later. It would not restart. Contacted Shanice in customer support explaining what was happening.

She asked me to provide proof of purchase and other information about the unit. Even though it was beyond the warranty period she agreed to replace the unit at no cost except for shipping. Two days after contacting Shanice the replacement unit was in my hand and reinstalled; working as designed.

I purchased this from Amazon just before Christmas! I paid around $200 for it, it does go on sale quite a bit so keep an eye out for the deals! This heater is perfect for a normal 2 car garage! It’s strange that the advertisement on Amazon says 500sqft, but on the box it’s shipped in, it says 750? But needless to say, it preforms amazing well for the 400-500 sqft area! So for me to do my mechanic work in the garage over the winter time here in Chicago, this is a must have for all the DIY and home mechanic workers.

You do need 240V! It’s easy to wire and set up, I recommend help from a licensed electrician, and also hoping you either already have 240 accessible in the garage, this is a hardwired unit, so you do need to run 10/2 straight from the heater into the fuse box.

It doesn’t have a plug wired, but for me, and any one else that has their fuse box in the garage, it couldn’t be easier or more perfect! Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good, quiet, powerful electric heater for their garage or shop! Truly cannot go wrong with this thing! Takes an hour or two to get the temps comfortable! But once they are you can literally work in a t-shirt! It’s currently about 30 degrees here in Chicago.

And my garage is staying nice and toasty at about 60! I can imagine their products will only continue to improve! Very Impressed New Air!.

First impression when opening the unit was that the quality of the materials and construction is very good. Small, but solid and sturdy. I live in the northeast, so I was initially concerned that the unit would be too small for my 2 car garage with 10 ft high ceilings, but so far I am very pleased with how well it can get the space up to a comfortable temperature and keep it there without having to run constantly.

The garage is reasonably well insulated, but the overhead doors aren’t great, so once the temps outside drop into the 20’s (Fahrenheit), we’ll see how it does. After running it for just a few days with the temps in the upper 30’s, it seems to be doing it easily, so feeling pretty confident that it will be good with the colder outside temps too.

My garage is 24 x 22 with a 10 foot ceiling. insulated with vapor barrier and dry walled. This heater keeps it comfortable and it’s not close to maxing out it’s capabilities. I heat the garage all winter long here in Michigan.

67 degrees at 4 feet from floor. This is a replacement for the first one i bought in about 1995. Run a gas line and no electricity needed for the thermostat. Practically maintenance free.

Works as advertised. Replacing one that has lasted 15plus years. Excellent unit.

It came in a well packed box, undamaged in in a timely manner. Looks really good, I have it installed in my garage and I am waiting for my furnace person to come in and run the gas line and hook it up.

That part I wait a pro. to do.

I can’t say that the heater was all that great, it arrived damaged and may have been done due to to shipping. It looked like scratches from the plug. Regardless, the heater only worked on high and only seemed lukewarm.

The return processes was above and beyond my expectations. Ingrid was super apologetic and would accommodate anything. I chose to return the item and that went smoothly. I was hoping that the heater worked as hoped and maybe it was just one of those needle in a haystacks that just didn’t work.

I’d just have to say that the tech support is top notch.

Impressed so far. Ceiling mounted. The unit raised the temp in my northern climate 3 stall garage 15 degrees in a half hour. The fan is a little loud but does a nice job of circulating air. Really like the remote control feature with time and temp settings.

Looking forward to winter time project work in the garage without freezing my hands and feet.

I have to return heater (unused) because the company’s tech support told me that when there is a power outage, the programmed settings of the heater has to be reset. For my application, that would spell disaster as I bought it to heat my greenhouse.

I do not want to have my plants freeze if there is a power outage while I’m not home.

Cordless aside this device is much more portable than my kerosene heater and i can use the propane in more locations. Its easy to light turn the fan on and hold down the propane safety switch valve until it lights.

We took this with us and put it in our 10×10 4 walled canopy for our churches trunk or treat trail. We put up 3 walls as it was down in the low 40s my wife and i were cozy warm while others were bundled up freezing.

I used 6amp hour flexvolt 60v max battery after 2 hours of use it was still full i believe the run time for this size battery indicates close to 20 hours. Only con i see is This device does not have a thermostat just an adjustable gas valve.

For my uses i dont think this will ever be a problem but i could see how some contractors or others might like that featur.

As an excavator, I work outside in all weather. The DeWalt 20V Max Cordless Propane Forced Air Heater is a great addition to tools I keep handy for the winter months working outside. It is portable and does not require electric to operate.

On those cold days in Pennsylvania, it always gathers a crowd when we are working outside and it helps keep the machines running. Glad I purchased this heater.

I honestly couldn’t believe it. I bought this to “take the bite off” in my 60 x 40 shed. I have no power yet, and i was hoping to work a little in the cold. It was 15 to 20 degrees outside, I turned it on high 30 min later it was 80 degrees.

The shed is insulated, and when it gets colder who knows. But it worked way better than I thought it would.

I bought this heater a month ago to heat a boat shed where I’m restoring a 29′ Chris Craft. The space is 30’x50′ with 14′ tall ceilings. One side is metal with no insulation and this heater brings the temps up to a very nice working level.

Due to the ceiling height I added an inexpensive 20″ fan at one end which pushes the heat down from the ceiling and disperses the heat throughout the space. Installation was straight forward as was the conversion to propane.

I first ran it off a grill bottle before having a more permanent tank installed and it worked well with both. A great product that compares well with units costing much more.

I’ve had my unit for over two years and I have yet to have an issue with it. It’s quiet and heats my shop up quickly. If your mounting it up high like I did, (16’ ceiling) you’ll want another fan to push the hot air downwards more efficiently.

Overall very happy with my purchase.

I put this up in my shop and it works great! Could use a little more air movement but that could kick up dust in the shop also. Install was simple and straight forward. For the money compared to other brands great deal!.

I am a building contractor in Northern Michigan and bought one for my garage, wanted to stop cutting wood for the outside boiler, bought one for the shop as well, not installed yet. The one in the garage was working well I thought, so I ordered two more for heat while under construction on our project.

Two weeks to the day, the one in the shop failed, no power to the mother board, but that next day, the to new ones arrived and I had to swap one of the new ones right away. The new one works half the time, I have to keep checking it but it come on if I turn it off and on again.

I have paint, lots of paint in the garage, so I can’t let it freeze. Long story short, have tried to call several times for help resolving the problem but the wait is much longer than I had time for, but expect to get through soon.

The heater would be a great heater, but there are some bugs that from other reviews, haven’t been addressed over a long period of time. Electronics and maybe a valve issue on the second one I installed in the garage.

Reliability is the name of the game, who has time to be playing with these type issues, especially with sub zero nights and single digit days! I’d spend a little more for the peace of mind.

Bought a month ago. Had to drive 90miles to pick this thing up. I installed this all by myself. It wasn’t the easiest to do either. Yes definitely get help. But with that said it’s not a bad heater. I have a 4 car garage mostly full of crap and for 16 years every time I want to do something in the winter I couldn’t.

Should of put one in years and years ago. I haven’t vented it yet but haven’t seemed to bother me yet. I would definitely say get one!.

I had a hard time getting all 3 burners to ignite and finally figured out it was getting too much air. Since there is no air shutter adjustment on this model I had to get creative and close the air ports by using metal tape.

I am an HVAC technician and I know the gas pressure is correct. It still doesn’t lite every time but it’s better. It was not easy getting this unit installed and did not want to go through the trouble of removing it, asking for a return authorization, waiting for a new one and doing it all over again.

I am somewhat disappointed in this since I decided to but a new one to prevent any issues. Not impressed!.

My first Enerco/Heatstar garage heater lasted 13 years and worked great. (I do woodworking and antique refinishing) This is a two car garage and my wife’s car is always inside. It was exactly what I needed.

When the heater finally gave up the ghost, I called the manufacturer and was given a price to replace the worn part. I checked eBay and decided it made more sense to buy a new one. My first heater was installed by a professional but I installed the replacement myself and it’s working like the first one before it’s demise.

I probably won’t live enough to have it replace this one. I highly recommend this heater to anybody.

This 22,000 btu heater works super for my 2 1/2 car shop. Adjusted my LP regulator and adjusted the pilot flame and it’s ready to go. Pilot is noisy like reviews say but for the heat well worth that little problem.

Heats my concrete up and objects in your shop to help keep warm. Got mine set on 50 degrees and work all day long in a sweatshirt. If you have even thought once about getting one don’t wait do it you won’t regret this purchase.

We were looking for an effective way to heat our two plus car garage. The electric and kerosene heaters were not working. Between the smell and tripping over extension cords, we were frustrated. In one day we had the heater installed and have been enjoying the warmth ever since.

The area heats up quickly and we circulate the air with ceiling fans. Even the cement floor is warmer so the dogs are in heaven.

I bought this heater for the obvious reason to heat a garage. I originally purchased the 20K BTU dual fuel unit which was a disaster to get it to function. In fact, I could never get it to light other than the pilot light.

Called the company for troubleshooting and they insisted it was a problem with “MY” gas regulator. Manual did not indicate such a requirement, but I believe it was THEIR internal “regulator” since I could not get the gas to reach the main burner.

Frustrated, I just returned it. BTW, Dyna-Glo would not issue me a return slip confirmation, so do not look to them for help (or sympathy). OK, I got off topic, but consider it a warning for that model and Dyna-Glo service.

My current purchase was very straight forward and works just fine with just one caveat. I thought that a unit that has a thermostat heat control would cut off the gas when the proper room temperature was reached with just the pilot light remaining on.

In fact, the product features indicate that the thermostat heat control “the control automatically cycles the burner on and off to maintain a desired room temperature. See page 24. ” So I reference page 24.

NO MENTION. So unless I screwed up somewhere, the main burner stays on for the output I select. For this reason, I gave it 4 stars. I will contact Dyna-Glo service center, but with my previous interaction, I am not optimistic.

I like the fact that you can select how much BTU’s it will produce, so the unit is actually a better unit, because it encompasses the 20K BTU level I wanted with the additional benefit of having the ability to change the output starting from 15K to 30K maximum output.

Ironically, it was cheaper than the dual fuel 20K BTU I originally had.

I had a natural gas line inside the house and needed emergency heat for a coming winter storm in Georgia. I watched a couple installation videos on YouTube, and it was super easy to install. I did purchase the Mr.

Heater universal gas appliance hook up kit bc I’d read it had everything I’d need, and it did. However, I did purchase pipe joint compound to be safe as I read the yellow tape alone did not hold up over time from a couple of people.

I used the compound and the tape. My son and I were comfortable during the power outage (kept it around level 2 out of 5), and it really looks great! I’ve got it mounted to the wall. Super easy to ignite.

I highly recommend this heater.

Bought to use as back up in in an all electric house. Shipping was fast and item looked good, Hooked it up to test it out and it worked perfect. Hopefully we will never need it but does give me a peace of mind knowing its there incase we loose power during cold weather.

Works much better than the four 1000 watt electric units I was using in my. Besides that the electric units, even though they were on two different circuits would often trip the breakers, when I used my table saw or other equipment.

This units sits on a shelf at about four feet up and two feet away from the back wall. The gas canister sits outside, as required, and I run the house through a window. This opens the window slightly, but it anything helps provide fresh air for the unit.

I have not used it on very cold days, but at 28 degrees outside I was able to keep my two car shop/garage at a comfortable 60 degree working temperature. All hookup are very easy and well explained in the documentation.

Used for emergency heat when power is off, works as advertised however it needs some kind of handle to carry from one place to another when used as portable. Bulky and not really a place to grab a hold of it.

Was excited to get this connected ya know with the fan and all, being a free add on. After unboxing the unit I popped off the spot welded opening on the back of the heater to install the “free fan” only to find there is no heat sensor to install on the heater.

There’s a mounting hole, where it should go, to connect the fan to the unit. No wonder the fan was free, it’s absolutely useless! Moving on, there was no problem getting the heater assembled and fired up with a double check on the propane connections with soapy water.

This unit generates a good amount of heat. It will be useful in my 750 Sq Ft shop as soon as the insulation is finished up. Right now I’m testing it out on an enclosed porch seeing how quickly it heats a 150 Sq Ft area, it went from 19 degrees F to 46 in about 20 minutes.

I put the feet on it and placed it on on a couple of patio blocks to keep it off the carpet. Placed a 12″ fan behind it on a shelf to to circulate the heat. I’m curious to see how quick I will go through a 20 lb tank.

Keeping it at around 50 degrees. Overall I’m confident I’ll be happy with this unit. The fan option would have been nice but obviously that wasn’t a deal breaker.

We live on a ranch in N. E. Arizona & while we have grid power, it’s not as reliable as I’d like. So I bought this as a backup heat source. Of course I had to try it when it got down to the low 40s at night.

The heat settings range from 1-5, 1 being the lowest. I set it on #2 (so the flame was out when it felt comfortable) then had the ceiling fans set on low. The next morning, it was 72 throughout the entire house! I’m sure it cycled on & off during the night but nobody saw it.

My wife mentioned that it worked really well. So I replied. “Yeah, it’s amazing that just the little flame from the pilot light kept the entire house warm all night. ” It really sucks that I’m the only one here with such a great sense of humor.

I didn’t get the optional fan kit. 1. The store didn’t have any and 2. if we are using it because we don’t have power, the fan is useless anyway. 3. It works great without it. Besides what I bought it for, this would be perfect for off-grid use, or even a workshop.

It performs much better than expected, so of course I’d buy it again.

Like the heater so far. Easy to set up as a free standing heater and it really throws some heat. Only use it as a supplemental heat source a few hours a day and have only set it on level 2. This setting is plenty hot and kicks the heater on for about 10 minutes with about a 20 minute off cycle.

At this setting the heater does not seem to be using a lot of fuel and is keeping our living room cozy. Too bad a fan is not included which means they want to make more money off of you. The heater does seem to give off some fumes, so it is good to have a way to circulate air.

We reverse our ceiling fan in the room the heater is located in and run an air purifier at the same time. The unit really gets hot, so user must really be very careful to follow instructions and I would never run it unless someone is monitoring it pretty much all the time.

Would be very apprehensive using it with small children around.

Great garage heater with everything was as described and as expected. It replaced a similar 10 y. o. heater in my 3 car garage, the old heater was rusting and had igniter problems. The 30,000 BTU heater does a good job heating the entire garage in the winter and easily maintains the garage at an acceptable indoor temp of 50+ degrees when it is near zero outdoors.

Very easy to hang on the wall and connect to an existing 1/2 inch flexible gas line. I’d definitely recommend this as a relatively inexpensive solution ($179 on sale) for heating a garage in the winter.

Bought this with the fan kit. The hardest and most expensive part of the project was running the supply line to it. After that installation is quite easy. So far it works well. I will see what happens when winter sets in.

We bought a similar 30K ng heater in the Fall of 1999, as a hedge against Y2K. Just in case, bc, with natural gas, you dont need any electricity. Bottom line, we wore some of the parts out and it became a pain to fiddle with, didnt heat evenly, you get the picture.

Its 20 years old and neede tweaking to make it work properly. Im retired now and dont want to fiddle with it anymore. Fast forward to March 2019, my Wife said, lets see what a new one goes for, it was $70 cheaper than our 1999 model, starts instantly, heats way better, and with the newer style thermostatic controller, heats evenly.

You cant beat this new Ng 30,000 btu MR. HEATER. BTW, OUR HOUSE IS A 1850 sq ft tri-Level. As long as it stays above Zero, this thing can maintain 65 deg easily, even shutting off the flame occasionally.

{!!WARNING!!} this non-vented, ng heater requires an outside air suppy!! We also mounted a carbon monoxide detector nearby in our family room. I hooked up our MR HEATER to the ng starter in our fireplace, that has an outside fresh air vent(not the flu).

My 2nd Mr heater. Really enjoy the comfort and convenience. I heat my small cottage (1000 sq ft) house efficiently. Only difference now is they aren’t being offered with a fan. Just a kit for extra. Save your money buy small fan set behind it.

Only portable type heater that can connect to a continuous feed natural gas source without the worry about venting. It’s quite and in a properly sized room very effective and efficient. A properly sized room being in the 300 to 500 sq.

ft. range. It would be taxed to do a 1,000 sq. ft.

This heater is exactly like the description. Tall ceiling needed, high intensity for sure. Mine is propane and works like a champ. Pilot flame is small and should be fuel efficient. I would buy again!

I installed this heater in my 2000 foot shop. My shop is well insulated. I bought two because I thought both would be needed, but I only had time to get one installed. Fired it up and it heats the whole 2000 square feet with an even heat.

We have been experiencing below zero temperatures so I am confident it will maintain the heat throughout the winter. I am very pleased with this unit.

Great heater after everything is set up. You will need to buy thermostat wire to connect the heater to the thermostat on the wall. This was the only thing left out of instructions.

I bought the 30000 btu infrared propane model and I was absolutely surprised at the amount of heat this unit puts out. This unit so far has heated my 900 square feet at the low setting at an outdoor temp of mid 40’s at day and high 30’s at night.

I had the heater once at the medium setting and had to lower it back to the lower setting because it was too warm. I’m sure this heater will surpass my expectations when the outside temps become much colder.

So far, keeping heater at lowest setting, my homes main furnace as not come on. I leave the Dyna Glow heater running at lowest setting all the time and so far saving money vs the home furnace using fuel oil.

The best part of the Dyna Glo is the constant warmth instead of up and down heating experienced by my home furnace. Another plus is that my cat loves to sleep nearby enjoying the radient heat. I consider this Dyna Glo heater as one of the best investments in my home and wish I had bought this heater years ago.

I absolutely love the amount of heat that comes from this heater. So far, I have used the lowest setting to heat about 900 sqft. home at outdoor day temps at low 40s to mid 30s at night. Used the medium setting and soon had to go back to lowest setting.

I’m very confident this heater will perform great at the medium settings for most of the winter here in North Carolina. I’m very pleased with this heater and so far has exceeded my expectations. I should have bought this years ago instead of throwing money away on my inefficient home furnace that uses fuel oil.

This was easy to hook up, after buying the necessary parts. Heats very well and saves electricity! We feel alot warmer this winter already and hardly use our big electric unit. It has a push button start so it starts heating quickly.

We had a small propane heater before we got this large one and we are hoping to another small one, so with 3 of them, it should heat our house completely. (we have 2100 square feet) Plus we can use these if the power goes out!.
