20 Best Ventless Gas Stove (2022 Updated)

Works great for my basement. I used it all winter and it heats very good. 2 problems. First is that when installing it it would not light, and after quite a bit of cussing, I figured out that the LP/NG switch was backwards.

I have the switch set on NG and I am burning propane. Second, although it heats well, it puts off a lot of black soot. I have noticed that most of my basement has a black film on it and there are also black chunks/pieces that I vacuum up from underneath the stove about once a week.

It doesn’t heat all of the time, it keeps the basement about 64 degrees most of the time, but When I watch sports on weekends, I turn it up and it keeps the basement warm at about 72 degrees or hotter if I want.

That is when it is close to or below zero outside.

We have owned this gas stove for five years. It has worked great. We have it in a room app. 1000 sq. ft. We bought it to go with our woodburning stove in the winter when the days do not get below 45 degrees.

We live in North Texas so last year we only used the woodburning stove a couple of days. This gas stove kept us comfortable all winter with no problems. In fact we barely have to raise the dial above a 1-2.

Our propane bill is $300 a year and that includes our gas oven/stove that we cook on all year long. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a safe, economical option to their home or cabin.

Had to give up our Hearthstone fireplace as it would no longer stay lit and 2 different companies told us it could not be fixed! To replace started at $2500. So decided to try this stove. Has propane company assemble and connect.

( can be natural gas also) Used this past weekend and extremely pleased with it’s performance. Kept it on a low setting but produced a lot of heat. And the automatic thermostat worked as advertised. Initially surprised when flame flickered out but as the room temperature cooled, the stove came back on to maintain the correct heat.

I would describe this as a superior product at an extremely affordable price!.

I love this gas fireplace! it has saved me so much money compared to when I only used oil! Winters can be long and cold in my state. I went from paying $200-plus a month with oil to $70 with this. And that’s with the entire house being much warmer! I only use the oil as a backup when I’m away.

Very cozy to look at with the flames. I never smell any gas either. This I consider to be one of my best investments! Definitely install a blower kit, easy to do and worth the extra $70 you can find it for online.

It adjusts easily to whatever temperature you want, a great feature. I have no concerns with safety either, this is built well. Remember to clean it regularly, it comes with instructions how to do it and it’s easy.

We live in a mobile home, and it cost a fortune to heat with the heat pump. I bought a 250T stove about 13 months ago, and loved it. Lots of heat, thermostat controlled, and a fan to distribute the air.

only used about 50 gallons of propane. Went to start it a couple weeks ago, and it would not ignite. 12 month warranty, had it for 13 months, and was unable to get any help from the manufacturer. They couldn’t sell me the needed parts, and have no service shops.

I’m not too happy with the manufacturer, but bought a replacement, because I like the heater so well. I have a brother, and a sister who have the same stove for a much longer time, with no problems. Its a GREAT stove, but poor service.

This was a rancid bad deal at Lowe’s. Not only does it not provide any surety the item cannot be knocked over, the heater just inserts into the case once you assemble the case – it is not secure. What really has us upset is the labeling that the blower was included in this special deal at Lowe’s.

I do not care about the price of the blower. I do care that it simply wasn’t true. We will order a blower, assuming we gain enough confidence to connect this to gas after this buying “experience. ” I suppose we’re stuck with this junk, sadly.

Ordered for my mother and she loves it. Shipping was outstanding and assembly went well, although the optional blower was a little tricky to install. Just take your time and read the instructions thoroughly.

I had a licensed plumber do the gas piping. Once assembled and plumbed, the lighting was easy and it operates very well. The heat it produces warms a 14’x 20′ room nicely. The flame on the ceramic logs looks realistic and is pleasant to watch, especially while drinking hot cocoa.

The finish and fit of the wood frame and mantle are great. It comes with the necessary panels to use in a corner if so desired. Pros: High quality and great packaging. Cons: Instructions are a little awkward, but understandable.

Conclusion: I would buy again.

This is a natural gas, real flame fireplace. The wood surround was well packed to prevent damage but required assembly with a Philip screwdriver. The gas supply is much harder. Need to get 3/8″ street elbow and 3/8 OD x 24″ Brasscraft SS Gas Installation Kit to connect the fireplace to a 1/2″ gas line.

The gas line needs to be run to one side of the unit and have a gas shutoff valve. Nothing flammable can be under or around the unit. Unit puts out some serious heat. Pilot light burns continually and can be heard in a quite room.

Nice looking flame but no crackling sounds. Instructions said something about decorative cinders but they were not included.

There are several problems with this fireplace. On opening the package I quickly discovered that one of the panels was scratched. I put it together and had it installed by a professional, but the flames are never a high enough that you can see them from across the room.

Additionally the remote has never worked and I have been waiting for a replacement for a couple of weeks. Also the fireplace makes a constant noise similar to a flame being blown in the wind. They did send a “clip” that will supposedly repair this issue, but I have not had the contractor over to install it because I am still waiting for the remote.

I received the mahogany color, and the front is with a grill, this one is with a glass front or so it looks like it. and this was the color I wanted, it is still very nice and easy to put together(frame) now waiting to get it hooked up with natural gas tech.

Such a lovely fireplace! It has a thermostat, so it keeps the house at a constant temperature. It heats our entire 800 sq ft house; we haven’t needed the baseboard heat at all. We are saving money.

Great quality over-all. I would have given it 5 stars if the flare fitting, gas line and shut-off valve were included. I had to shop 3 brick and mortar stores to find all needed parts.

Love it. So cute. Just wish it had a remote control. Delivered fast and friendly.

This is a great little fireplace. Its small and the flame is small but thats how it is going to be at only 10 btu. Puts out a lot of heat. Has made a very nice addition to our bedroom!

We live in an area that has many power outages and bought this stove as a backup heat source. We needed a stove that did not require power to operate and was easy to install. This stove met both those needs and many others.

Not needing to vent through a wall or roof was the biggest plus. We were amazed at the heat the stove created just on the lowest setting. I was going to purchase the optional blower attachment, but I don’t think we will need it.

The dual fuel option allowing either propane or natural gas make it nice since natural gas is not available in our immediate area. Since I already had a large propane tank, I only needed to purchase an external regulator, an external shut off valve, some black iron pipe, fittings and two appliance rated flex tubes.

I did the installation myself and only took a few hours of my time once I got the materials. This stove does require a AA battery to operate the pilot flame ignitor and is provided with the stove. We originally bought the stove as a backup.

But after feeling how cozy it made our home when we tested it out, I think it will get fired up on those cold winter nights just to take the chill away. My wife loves the romantic ambiance of the flickering flame.

I bought this unit based on price and availability but you get what you pay for. It’s a very cheaply made unit. It’s much smaller than anticipated and the flames look nothing like they do in the picture.

On a positive note, the wood mantel is nice. I’ve had 2 major issues with this unit: Issue 1: The pilot flame pattern was incorrect. It curved upward and was misaligned with the thermocouple, barely making contact with it.

When the burner would kick on, the pilot would go out, shutting the unit down completely. Issue 2: When the control knob is turned to the off position, the pilot cannot be relit unless you completely disconnect the gas line and brass elbow from the gas inlet and then reinstall.

At first I thought it was a safety feature blocking the gas flow when the pilot went out but this happens not only when it goes out on its own, but also when you manually turn the knob to off as well.

I’m fairly certain that I had a defective unit but after reading reviews on other websites, it appears that this is a common problem that other people have had as well. When you call the support number in the user manual, you get a pre-recorded message telling you to send an email to create a support ticket.

They did get back to me in a day but only offered basic troubleshooting advice that was already listed in the manual. Fortunately, Tractor Supply has been great and is working with me to return for a full refund.

I will be buying something else that is not made by Duluth Forge/Procom/Bluegrass Living (beware, they operate/manufacture under all of these various names).

We bought the fireplace in May with tax return money. We had a plumber come out in October to install it. They had a hard time getting the pilot light to light. Plumber recommended we keep it lit. We had not connected the remote yet.

A few days later we go to set the remote and the pilot light goes out. We cannot get it to light again. So another plumber comes out today and cannot get it lit at all. I called the number for this company and it says you have to send an email! I would avoiding buying anything from this company.

FYI. The logs are awful and cheap.

This fireplace is beautiful! We went with the slate grey. Unit is as shown. Its heavy and solid. I dont really agree with previous reviews about the putting it together being so hard. Instructions were east to follow and it took one person and about 30mins tops!! We actually installed the LP line ourselves and it was very easy.

We would purchase again!!.

Went together pretty well, good value for the price. Only one setting for the burner but manual states should be five settings. Would be nice to have a low, medium and high setting at least. Recommended and optional blower is noisy, needs work to get it to fit and not a good value for the cost.

Construction kind of cheap but looks great once assembled and set up. Get what you pay for I guess. Selling company failed to send freight company correct contact phone number as I requested several times and communication with selling company was terrible!.

Requires full disconnect of the gas line and brass elbow to re-enable gas flow once it goes out. Serious design flaw. There is allegedly a screw to turn that will disable the overly sensitive pressure valve (designed to prevent you from hooking up the wrong gas) but it is impossible to get to without fully disassembling the burner/firebox.

Certainly nothing I am going to mess with.

First, the addition of the natural gas logs in our living room created a warm and welcoming ambiance. We love to entertain our family and friends in this now oft used room. Most winter mornings, we read by the fire with a cup of coffee to start the day.

Depending on the weather we may burn the logs most of the day. We are very pleased with the ease of operation and the warm comfort this gas appliance provides. We have also recommended the empire gas log set to friends who have purchased a similar unit.

Replaced a Empire set that was 7 years old. Took a few minutes to get everything hooked up. Most time spent on connecting receiver and getting remote set. Ran a few minutes to make sure everything was working.

Just waiting on cold weather. Presently 100 degrees today.

I really like this gas log set. It throws off a lot of heat and minimizes the amount of gas going through the system. During the Texas storm this past winter we ran this continuously for a week and was surprised to see my gas bill only went up moderately.

My only negative is I wish there was a way to adjust the flame in the unit. There seems to9 be more flame near the igniter and doesn’t look even or consistent. Nothing major but if this could be done would be great.

The unit is very good quality. The burner unit is made of a strong metal construction and the controls are well placed on the side. I am believing that the valve is also a solid piece of equipment too.

The pilot light is a little noisy when the main burner is off. The logs seem to be fire proof, light weight with a built in glowing feature (not very strong – just a little). If this glowing feature was larger, that would create a greater look/impression.

The logs seem to be large and thus hiding some of the flames and glowing parts of the logs. The flames are nicely situated for an almost natural fire look.

When we opened the item, the logs were broken and unusable. So, I do not know how this item would have worked if it had arrived intact. However, Fireplace Direct gave me a fairly prompt refund. Fireplace Direct deserves a rating of 10.

However, I had to give the item itself a poor rating.

This is not the most spectacular gas log in terms of design but it is a great deal for the money. Bear in mind that Dexen IPI valve kit that is at the core of it is sold at $450 minimum. You would need to buy a Brasscraft PSC1079 connector kit or similar and a remote or a switch.

Remote is pricey but you can wire a regular light switch with a piece of low voltage wire and 0. 25″ tab quick disconnect female connectors ( type F at HD). It works great so far. The only disappointing thing is blue gas flames from the burner visible in front of the log.

I need to buy some artificial embers to hide these.

I love this fireplace. They only downside is it will go off without warning. So, you cannot leave the room once you have it on.

Love it. Fits perfect in our old farmhouse living room. I would say the color seems slightly darker in real life than the picture but it matches our floors well so a happy customer. Will add photos soon.
