10 Best Verizon Flip Phone (2022 Updated)

Flip phones are clunky, and that’s the point: You are buying this *because* it will limit you, your child, or your employee from distractions and compulsive internet use. There were two features of this phone that I was previously misled into believing it could do: – VZ Navigator.

Not present and I can find no method of downloading it. – USB data access. I thought I could simply attach my phone to my computer and upload music and video to it like a regular phone. The option to do so in “tools” is ghosted out and I cannot find a way to re-enable it.

This means I need to physically remove the SD card to add media content, and I just won’t bother. Email was a requirement for me and it gets a passing grade. I would not recommend getting this phone if you have to do a lot of correspondence with it, though, as typing T9 responses take about four times as long as with a smartphone.

If your laptop is within reach it is far easier to just open it. The web browser is serviceable and capable of handling most websites but is predictably limited in configuration options. If you don’t like Google, Bing, or Yahoo for search, you’re out of luck.

Downloading media files or pictures doesn’t seem to be an option. Password entry is a bear, especially if you use a mix of upper and lowercase letters. The camera is bad, but I will assume you don’t care and leave it at that.

The Camelback case is awful and obscures 1/3 of the camera’s lens when open but that’s no fault of the phone’s. The alarm doesn’t work like you’re used to. In order for the alarm to work, you need to have the ringer on.

Don’t be surprised like I was. I can’t comment on Fieldforce or Push To Talk because I don’t use those features.

Excellent rugged flip phone. Has every feature you need to make reliable calls; phenomenal speakerphone with active noise suppression microphone. Works well. Very happy.

Ok. I prefer a flip phone for a lot of reasons. To use an outdated phone is NOT one of them. So to me the best things about the Dura XV LTE are 1. It’s current LTE tech and wifi calls work great. 2. It’s bloomin’ indestructable 3.

It has quality components such as the keyboard, flip hinge, etc. The downside. I’m used to charging my phone twice a week. The Dura VX LTE needs a charge every 2 days. It might make 3 days if I leave it in the drawer 1 out of the 3 days.

Also, a charging station is available for about $110 but that’s a bit high. The charging port plug is easy enough to pop out. But take care of that port. There some reports on the net about ports going bad.

We bought one of these phones because my hubby is hard on phones when he is working. The phone itself is great & very rugged. The battery needs to be charged almost every day. We even tried 2 other batteries, & it still will not stay charged.

We also replaced the phone with another just like it from the Verizon store. Still will not hold a charge. My hubby refuses to use anything but a flip phone, so i guess he is stuck with this issue until he stops using a flip phone!.

Excellent phone. Great design and we’ll engineered. Totally cool functional and well made. One gripe, the fingerprint scanner is in the wrong place. It should be where the logo is at the back like the BlackBerry Evolve then it would be perfect.

Thought not 4G LTE compatible this handset works very well as an Android based HSDPA platform with fast processor and very fast scrolling. Screen clarity is more than sufficient for most purposes. It also appears to be well built with good materials and rugged enough for getting rained on and the abuse of everyday use without worrying about which pocket it is in or if the screen will crack, a common fault with more heavily promoted handsets available at this time.

Will run for almost 3 days with average use before charging. Annoying that it lacks inbuilt analog FM radio reception, although the hardware itself is apparently capable and no software to enable this is supplied.

It’s camera function appears to work well, though a bit too noisy at higher ISO, but for overall daylight use it is fine as is HDVideo. A useful alternative to Nokia and Samsung models this was bought instead of an iPhone 5 though similar in dimensions and screen size and only very slightly thicker.

It is not too wide either allowing one-handed operation, which is an annoying design issue found on other feature phones on offer today. Supplied headset has good audio but flimsy microphone trigger switch.

Trying to catch an incoming call with it can be a random affair. Previous Milestone model had better quality headset and switch arrangement but with higher impedance is not really compatible with this unit.

Good and clear as a phone and very good if all you do is call, text and email occasionally though there are no real issues using other software options included, though OS has an annoying tendency to want to attach you to Google Apps at every opportunity, then of course the iPhone does the same with the Apple platform offerings.

Trying to run multiple apps at the one time is not possible, the form factor wouldn’t make it easy either, stick to your iPad/notebook for that but very useful QuickOffice Software application compatible with MS Office files is included.

This is a very, very good phone. I was after a handset to replace my iPhone 4s. Reluctant to use a Windows OS and equally reluctant to spend big bucks on a “flagship” handset, this phone looked perfect.

I have used/borrowed over a dozen different handsets over the last few months and this one is, by far, the best of the Androids I have tried. Start with the specs – equal, or better, than most high end phones that can cost over twice as much.

In use I found it super smooth, fast and no glitches or hang ups at all. Simples. Physical size and shape was good for me too. I don’t like the mega sizes that most phones seem to be going for now and appreciate the fact that I can use this handset with one hand.

Saying that though, the screen is plenty large enough (and nicely bright/clear) and typing on the screen keyboard is easy. Functionality was also extremely good. Previous Android systems have annoyed me with having too many different ways to do the same thing and, often, no fast and easy way to access the things you need most.

This handset is different. The circular weather/time/ battery widget takes up less room than “standard” options on other handsets and the option to turn the sound on/off from the lock screen is great.

I also really appreciated the settings options you get by sliding the home screen to the right – direct access to all major connectivity settings, plus extras. Lastly, oddly, is the build quality. This handset gives the impression of solidity, toughness and quality that most other handsets simply can’t manage.

I must admit though, despite the manufacturer advice that the handset is splash proof, I was never brave enough to try it for real. However, it is nice to know. The only drawback, for me, was the battery life.

At home and at work I turn off mobile data, lock it to 2G only and turn on the WiFi. Other settings (screen brightness, automatic updates etc) were all turned down as well. In normal (for me) use I make 10 – 15 mins calls, send 12 – 20 texts and briefly read up to a dozen emails each day.

If an email needs a fast/short reply I use the phone; longer or more detailed emails go from my computer. I also use eBay and other online apps for approx 1 hour each day. With this use I could get two days use and have about 35% left at bedtime.

Frustratingly, this was not quite enough to make it through the third day. So, overall, a great phone, especially if you are looking for high end specification for a really good price.

I got this phone because I switched from a data plan to a basic phone. I use my Kindle Fire and home computer for anything I need online and it serves me well. I didn’t like the touch screen for phone use.

It seemed like the response time was slow on any brand of smartphone I had. I like actual buttons much better and the buttons on the Samsung Convoy 2 are quite large. On some of the slider phones the buttons were too close together and I still would have a lot of type o’s.

I was concerned about texting on a flip phone because I didn’t want to hit the button 4 times to type the letter s. I found I love the T9word texting option and on the convoy 2, if you hit the 0 button it will give you word options if the wrong word comes up such as “an” and you wanted “am”.

It has a great 3mp camera and video recorder. Symbols so you can still insert a smiley face etc. on your messages. I love that it’s a flip phone and the external keys lock making it nearly pocket dial proof.

The flashlight is very helpful and the flash works great on pictures. I compared the Convoy 3 and the Convoy 2 before my purchase. I found the 3 on ebay for around $55-$60 and the 2 around $20 with free shipping.

The only difference I could find is the look of the phone changed and the 3 has a little more memory. Other than that, there is no difference other than the price. If you find you need more memory, you can add a memory card.

Overall, I LOVE the Convoy 2 and do not regret my purchase! If you are looking to save some money by going to a basic phone or just want a good basic phone, this one would be a great choice.

these phones are junk compared to the original convoy. the ring tones sound like well lets just say they sound very cheap. the first convoy the samples or ring tones and alert sounds had that real sound.

That tell’s me they board that was used to put the samples on was of much better quality. the old telephone ring sound actually sounded like a old rotory phone. the convoy #2 thats what the ring tone sounds like, so this phone was accurately named.

Ive owned all three. the only good thing about the #2 you can download your music straight from your pc to the phone just like the original convoy. with the convoy#3 that changed. you have to go through a app on the phone to d/load your music at a dollar a song so forget about using it as a mp3 player.

however the quality of the ringtones are much better than the #2. If the original convoy had a flash on it that would be the best of the three. that flash will blind you and is a great flash light. Thats all I have to say about that.

This is the fourth or fifth of the Samsung U640/U660/U680 Convoys I’ve purchased on ebay. Tough they are but sooner or later manure, a welder, a 20 foot drop on cement, or just day in day out button hammering takes it’s toll.

Generally the Verizon folks look like they’d like to use tongs or gloves when one of the old ones goes in to switch activation. My current 640 seems to want to live forever but the better camera in the U660 makes it my ‘spare in the drawer’.

I’ve replaced several U680s for people I work with as that was what they had and were used to but personally I think the 640/660 body is tougher and the slight extra bulk is worth it. The sd card slot more than pays it’s way in easy cloud free contact maintenance.

All in all, I can’t think of a better value in a ‘guy flip phone’ and ebay is the place to find it.

I bought the Z Flip4 a little over a month ago. The entire screen began separating from the phone backing a few days ago, and then the issue quickly escalated to the point that my phone doesn’t fully flip open.

I had bought a highly recommended case for it at the AT&T store, and it was well-protected. Yet I have read that debris sometimes gets trapped inside. Also, the pliability of the new metal compound chosen for this model may be the problem; components may be too easily shifted out of place.

The funny thing is that I had the model before this one, too (ZFlip3). After having it for *almost* a year, I began having issues with the screen bubbling, followed by constant flickering. This happened out of nowhere.

My sales rep informed me that this was a common issue with the older model, and he assured me that the new model (Z Flip 4) was much improved in regard to this aspect. So I chose to buy the next model, rather than waste money on a temporary phone while my ZFlip3 got fixed (it was still under Samsung warranty).

Poor decision on my end. The notable thing is that, for both phones, the “damage” was unrelated to anything I have done. I have given both Z Flip phones the same level of care that I’ve given to all of my previous phones.

I’m a 37-year old, responsible adult. My family members were surprised when this happened, since I’ve always made technology last. As of right now, there is no way that customers can prevent what seems to be spontaneous and unpredictable screen damage.

This is regrettable because, otherwise, the compact technology is really cool and fun. I am not likely to risk buying any more phones with the flip or fold technology at this point in time. I would probably not recommend any Flip phone, even to the most careful of people.

I reasoned that I’d be a good candidate for this phone due to my cautious nature, despite the novelty and possible fragility of the technology. Now I definitely have to say that it’s a matter of design, and should not be attributed to customer mishandling.

I hope more research can be done to improve this technology, and better materials would be a worthwhile investment. Since these issues are probably common, my hope is that Samsung is doing its due diligence to replace parts with minimal cost and hassle to customers.

I have enjoyed the phone, and depending on whether it’s quick/easy to navigate the warranty process, and if they are willing to absorb the cost of the poor design, I would be satisfied enough with Samsung and even the poorly designed phone.

I intend to write a separate review of that process when it’s done.

Recently purchased, less than a month ago. Came from oneplus. This is my first Samsung device, so far I don’t have any complaints, it is very unique and definitely a conversation starter to have a folding phone.

At first it does feel very wrong to be bending/folding the phone/screen in half. After you do it a few times you don’t realize it. Just like the crease in the center, at certain angles it is noticeable, you can definitely feel it but after a few days of use you start to ignore it.

Most of the time at least I don’t touch the center of the phone usually interact with the lower part of the screen. The ability to check notifications with the phone closed is also nice when you want to check your notifications but don’t nessasarily allow people next to you to be able to read them as well.

The battery life is a lot better then I was expecting, generally I’m going to bed with the phone at about 30 to 40%. That is including me playing some games throughout the day. The only complaint/concern I have is that the screen isn’t truly glass, basically a mix between glass and plastic, which makes sense, but is still concerning as the screen can be dented with excessive pressure or with a finger nail.

With normal use it shouldn’t be an issue, once you think about that and get used to folding the phone when not in use to protect the screen. One suggestion I would like to see made in the next version would be to have the coverscreen a bit larger for easier reading/navigation.

I had a Z Flip 3 and was very happy with it. My only complaint was the battery life, so I took advantage of Samsung’s trade in program and got the Z Flip 4. The battery is much improved so now I have no complaints.

There are small design improvements that have also stood out for me. I didn’t see this in any reviews before purchasing, but the crease in the screen where it folds is smaller (it’s still there, but now it is less noticeable).

There are other little details that also help: the phone is a little more square, the finish is less shiny, the bezel is slightly smaller, the hinge is more sturdy. All of these improvements make the phone feel even more premium than the last generation.

And there are many other things that work well: processing speed is fast, the screen is gorgeous (love to watch videos on it), the outer screen allows for a quick glance to see the time and notifications for new messages.

The camera is not top of the line, but works well enough for me. All in all, this is a great phone and I plan to keep it for many years.

The blue is very cool and elegant, as you can see below. CONS- BIG HEAVY Like other phones its size, this is more of a bag phone than a pocket phone. It fits in my coat and jacket pockets, but it’ll stick out of most pants pockets but I’ve noticed over the years so did just about every iPhone from the 6 and up! OVERALL I RECOMMENDED THIS 100% I am an Mac/Apple user is all things from phones, watches, laptops, TVs.

The attribute I disliked most about the iPhone 11 Pro Max camera was the yellowed appearance of shots right off the device; I would forever be decreasing the warmth and filtering important moments.

On the 13 you can set a pre-filter, more or less, that eliminates the yellowed look with multiple options. The portrait and cinematic modes can be rewarding, but ultimately the device is using an algorithm to edge detect and I’m not into the fake blurs around people, which is what you would mostly be capturing with the high aperture…lots more work to be done there.
