20 Best Verizon Flip Phones (2022 Updated)

Foldables have captured my attention ever since their introduction in 2019. I was eagerly waiting for the day that they were actually viable for everyday use. Enter the Flip3. The price dropped, it’s more durable, waterproof, and has a better cover screen.

I knew I had to have it. I was currently enjoying my S21 coming from an iPhone, and the transition to Android was flawless, so I decided to get the Flip. Let’s start with cosmetics. It looks amazing.

Samsung really improved the looks from the previous Flip, which looked like a boring monolith. The cover screen is a lot better too, and I find myself using it a lot more than I thought I would. It feels great in the hand, and the display doesn’t feel much different from my S21.

Obviously, since the phone folds, it now fits in a lot more places, like shirt pockets, holsters, and smaller pockets in general. There is also the cool factor. When people see you bend and unbend what looks like a small wallet into a smartphone, you get some questions.

Overall, it’s a great looking phone. But looks aren’t everything, so let’s talk about this phone’s performance. There’s a lot to cover, so I’ll do a pros/cons section here. Pros: Chip, main and cover displays, speakers The golden parts of the performance start with the chip.

This phone has a Snapdragon 888, same as the S21 series. This means that this phone is packing an awesome chip. The main and cover displays are also a strong area of the phone, and also a great improvement over the last Flip.

You can actually do stuff on the cover screen now (crazy, I know!), and the main display is now almost the same as the S21 display, with the only difference being its size, aspect ratio, and having 1200 nits peak brightness instead of 1300 nits.

Lastly, the speakers are good too. They get loud and sound great, again, a huge improvement over the mono speaker of the previous Flip. Neutrals: Camera, durability, charging Next, the things that aren’t good, but aren’t bad either.

The cameras are alright. There’s nothing wrong with them at all, they take good photos. They are just old. They are similar to the cameras on the original Flip, which uses the cameras of the S10e, so these cameras aren’t new, but they take good photos, so I won’t complain too much about them.

Next, durability. For the first time in Z Flip history, the durability is neutral instead of terrible! Hooray Samsung! This phone is waterproof, but it’s not rated against dust, which is a huge step forward.

Previous Flips shouldn’t go anywhere near water. The display and main body is also much more resilient, leading to these breaking less than the previous Flip. Lastly, the charging is, well, fine. 15W isn’t fast, but at least it’s not 5W or 10W.

15W is totally tolerable in 2022. Cons: Battery, aspect ratio The worst part about this phone is the battery. It’s not bad, it can get you through a full day, but it’s just mediocre for a 6. 7″ $1000 phone.

You’d think that if a 6. 2″ compact phone can have 4000 MAH, then a 6. 7″ can have at least that as well. They did have to make the phone thinner though, as well as accommodating the hinge, but even 3500 MAh would have made the phone so much better.

Next, the aspect ratio. Why is the phone so darn tall?! This makes apps very strange sometimes. Most apps are fine on this phone, but many aren’t. You have to go into display settings to force it to use full screen, which should just happen automatically.

Actually, it shouldn’t happen at all, the phone should just be shorter! Now, I’d like to talk about the biggest benefit of having a Flip style smartphone. First of all, especially if you have a Galaxy watch paired with it, you slowly learn how to use the phone less.

With a regular phone, that beautiful Full HD 120HZ LTPO OLED display is staring at you, and if it’s not, the triple camera setup is. You can practically hear the phone telling you to spend 2 hours scrolling.

This doesn’t happen on the Flip. Opening the phone is now a more conscious decision, so it doesn’t just happen anymore. This means you can now look at your notifications, or think about the task you were going to do, and judge if it really needs attention.

This leads to not being absorbed into your phone as much, and I found myself being much less attached to it, and more connected to reality. This, in my opinion, is the best part of having a Flip.

Would have given this phone six stars if that were an option. The last time I’d bought a premium phone was 15 years ago – a Moto Razr. After the iPhone was introduced – the death knell sounded for smart flip-phones in the US.

Over that period, had replaced the post-Razr LG flip-phone once (NOS from eBay), and the battery three times. It wasn’t that the battery had failed – just that it wasn’t holding a charge as long. Further, the back just slid off, to access the battery slot – no glue that needed to be melted.

In any case, was skeptical of the Z flip/fold screens from the outset – and put off by the high price. But became a believer in the foldable-screen technology, after playing with the BB display models during several visits – though I’d have been OK with two half-screens at half the $.

This week, my carrier and BB dropped the price significantly, so I bought one. The features I really like: > I don’t need a case, and it fits in my pocket – just like the Razr or LG phones > (the sixth star) Prop it up in flex mode on the desktop, and it’s like a mini-laptop.

Aside from the awkward form factor of flat-phones, never could thumb the way 99% of folks seem able to naturally do. On the desktop, though, using two index fingers, can type almost as fast as when on a full-size keyboard using all fingers/thumbs, because of the small reach.

And the flex angle is – well – completely flexible. Not just one open position > I can still use my favorite (wired) headset, using a pigtail with USB-C and 3. 5 mm connections. There’s a small delay compared to direct analog, but nowhere near as long as a typical Bluetooth delay To net, probably paying a ~$300 premium for being able to fold an S21 (my smarter half upgrades their Galaxy, every third generation – now a S21).

Finally, a shout-out to the consistently knowledgeable/ helpful BB staff, across all sales and service roles.

I purchased the Z Flip 3 in December of 2021 and it has been my daily driver ever since. I switched to the Z Flip from an iPhone, and while I lost a few features I gained a lot more. I love the amount of customizablity this device offers, from the app icons to the quick panel there’s almost nothing you can’t change to your liking.

This phone has a lot more features than just customizability though, the cover screen does more than just show you recent notifications. You can control your music, take photos, and even open apps all without flipping open your device.

Speaking of taking photos, this phone has AMAZING camera quality and features that make taking photos a breeze, like the fact that you can fold the phone halfway open to use it as a tripod and even use the over screen as a viewfinder, and the phone can tell when you hold out your hand and start a countdown to take the photo.

While this device has many amazing features and qualities, I have had a few problems. The crease in the middle of my device where the screen folds is starting to develop separate scratches, all in a straight line near each other along the crease, this was caused from long term wear from normal usage but it doesn’t bother me much and I believeit’scovered by warranty.

The main issue I’ve had with this phone is battery life, I find myself having to plug it in at least 3 times a day. This isn’t that big of an issue for me personally but I know others may have a problem with it.

The device supports fast charging up to 15 W and charges from 0-100 in about 2 hours when using this method. The battery capacity is only 3300 MAH, and as a power user I find the battery only lasts me around 10 hours on a full charge.

These are the only real problems I’ve had with this device, but I still highly recommend it regardless!!.

I took a gamble and ended up getting a Galaxy Z Fold 3 because essentially at the time of upgrade there was no new Note to purchase. It (s22 ultra) was 2 months away, but there was no guarantee if it would launch or what it would look like and I didn’t want a Google Pixel phone, iPhone, s21 or old Note 20 (It also didn’t help that I was intrigued by it since it launched last summer).

So essentially Samsung’s trick of trying to get Note users to be adopters of Fold, worked on me. The Fold has quite a few things to like: if you enjoy gaming and the game is optimised for use on the Fold, it can be an enjoyable, immersive experience.

It’s great for multitasking e. g. watching a video or reading and taking notes. It still has a wow factor as people aren’t used to seeing phones that can open up to a larger screen, plus it’s a stylish looking phone.

Notwithstanding, battery life is poor, which I’m kind of used to, as I own the standard Note 10, but with a phone that’s marketed as being for power users, I was hoping for slightly better performance (I have to have power saving mode on most days to get to the end without a charge).

Having owned the standard Note 10, I was hoping for a better camera selection, but I would say that images are only marginally better than what my old phone could do. The main killer for me is the size/weight, it’s heavy, really heavy, my wrists have started to hurt and I fear I’m getting repetitive strain injury from carrying the load.

It”s an awkward shape and not easy to put in pockets, plus the outside screen makes texting a challenge, even if swiping one handed, and when using the inside screen for texting, I find it too large to text comfortably unless using it like a laptop, (lay flat on the table).

Also right now I’m mainly at home, so I dread to think how comfortable it would be to use if I was actually out and about all day. If I was going to go out for the night I’d probably have to take a different phone as this would take too much space, and definitely wouldn’t fit in a small hand bag (The Flip would though).

If I was doing long train commutes for work, I think I would find this phone more handy than a standard candy bar phone, but I’m yet to test that use case. It didn’t come with the separate S pen, but I was able to claim it along with the case and 25w charger, which in my opinion should have come as standard anyway, based on how high the RRP is.

The S pen experience isn’t a match to what it is on a Note. It’s great that’s there’s more screen space to work with, but I actually find the pen a bit of an uncomfortable size, sometimes it feels too long and of course the main bug bear is that it’s not housed in the phone, and add in that it can’t be used on the front screen (there is a bit of a hack to write on the front screen, but you still can’t use the pen to do it) and it doesn’t include all the air actions.

Re the battery, it’s seems to take a longer while to charge than my old Note. Probably because it only has a 4300 mAh battery, which is rather small considering what it has to power, but having a bigger battery would also make the phone heavier, which I wouldn’t welcome.

In regards to customisation, the case selection for this phone is poor, there aren’t many options, it’s sister phone – z flip has way more, but probably because it is closer to the standard candy bar form factor.

I’ve tried a few cases and they either add additional bulk, or do not offer enough protection, i. e the hinge is exposed. Lots of people bad mouthed S pen case, and by no means is it perfect, but in the end I’ve found it more useful as it gives me something more to grip on to when the phone is open, especially if I have the pen holder on it still.

It could do with some magnets to keep the flap down, and it’s a bit annoying that there’s extra material when it’s open, but it’s not too bad. One of the other big drawbacks is having to constantly worry about the inner display and the responsibility of maintaining it.

The phone is water resistant, but not dust and it is rather prone to finger smudges, and lint build up around the screen protector on the inner display, which once again is disappointing. The crease sometimes gets in the way, but most of the time I don’t notice it.

It’s more noticeable on the Flip because it’s horizontal and you’re more likely to have to move your hand over it when tapping on the certain areas of the screen. One thing is that having the big screen can be a drawback, because it highlights how grainy certain images are or games that look fab on a normal phone, might not look as polished on the Fold because you can see more details and it’s clear that the image isnt a good as you thought (e.

g on PES the football players have less definition on the Fold). Re specs – it’s 5g, 120hz (which I rarely get to experience because it’s always in power saving mode), 888 Snapdragon, updated to Android 12, it’s 271g (which by now, you know I hate), and it should be water resistant for up to 30 mins.

I really really want to love this phone, but right now, the best I could say is that I like its potential and hate it’s ergonomics. I kind of somewhat feel like a tester, and that I’m not getting the full end user experience.

It’s like it’s in the UAT or pre production stage. It’s enjoyable testing new features, but not when I have to pay such a hefty cost to do so, and I just want it to enhance my life not make it more difficult.

I’m torn because I do like a lot of things about the phone, for instance I’m not sure I can go back to a small screen, but ultimately it would be cheaper and easier to have a good flagship phone, i. e.

S22 and a seperate tablet (as I don’t currently have one). I’ve only had it for a month, so I’m going to persevere and hope that the wrist pain settles instead of deteriorating, so that I can make the most out of what the phone has to offer and it’s concept.

Going forward if some of the gripes mentioned above are dealt with, I’d have a better user experience, hopefully by the time I’m due for a next upgrade, all my requirements will be met.

I decided to pick up this phone because the screen on my note 10+ was acting up. Initially I was worried about how the fold would sit in my pocket, but it honestly isnt too bad. I dont notice it any more than I did with my prior note devices (3, 5, 9, 10+) Although this is already the 3rd generation of this phone, there still needs to be some refinement of how the apps switch from cloae to open, and visa versa.

Since this is really the only model out there with this capability, it will be a while until more functionality between that transition is fine tuned, unless other devices begin to adopt this format.

Coming from the galaxy note 10+, i was on a 60hz screen. Getting bumped up to the 120hz was a nice surprise. I knew the refresh rate was updated, but its more of a situation that you dont appreciate it until you start to live with it.

Battery life is usually what I see as a complaint for this phone. Considering that the battery size is smaller than the other flagships put there, and large screens, plus 120hz refresh rate, Im not sure how expecting longer battery life is reasonable.

In addition to being my personal phone, I also use it to respond to work emails/chats, and find the battery life sufficient to get me through the day. I also dont have social media accounts, so im not as glued to my phone with posting stories and whatnot, however i do occasiinally browse reddit threads.

Some drawbacks: The front screen in folded form is a bit skinny for my preference, although it is beneficial for those that usually have a rough time reaching the whole keyboard. The galaxy s pen z fold edition should have been implemented with more functionality as designed with the note series.

I feel for the price point of 50 USD, or 80 USD with the case, is a bit high for the basic features it has. I thought that since the note wasnt getting an updated model in 2021, the innovation should have been shifted to the z fold series.

This phone is definitely a niche market phone, but I think is a good step forward for advancing phones to the next level. As we progress through the many iterations if flagships, its becoming harder to warrant spending 1k+ on a phone that has minimal upgrades to the prior rendition.

I had been waiting for the right new technology to come along to replace my old beloved Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I definitely wanted something that supported the S-Pen as well. I got the 512 GB version since there is no longer a mini SD card capability like my Note 8 had.

I had been thinking about the 2021 Samsung Galaxy Z-Fold 3, and Samsung offered a one-day only sale in late December (just before Christmas) and it was just too good to pass up! They even gave me $400 trade-in for my old Galaxy Note 8 (which is so old that Verizon is no longer offering any trade-ins for it).

Samsung included a free leather case (which I love and it fits the phone perfectly), free Galaxy Buds 2 earbuds (which are an incredible improvement in comfort & sound quality over my original Galaxy Buds, and they even have noise reduction), a Samsung 3-device wireless fast charging pad that wirelessly fast charges my Galaxy Z-Fold 3, Galaxy Buds 2, and my Galaxy Smartwatch 4.

It has the magnetic “dimple” area incorporated on one end for the Smartwatch. I also ordered the S-Pen Fold Edition, and love the way it works so seamlessly with my Galaxy Z-Fold 3. The Z-Fold screens are just amazing! When closed, it is slightly narrower than my old Galaxy Note 8, and easier to hold/use one-handed.

The outer “phone mode” screen is slightly narrower than my Galaxy Note 8, but still fully functional. The phone just feels great in my hand, and actually fits in my pockets better than the Note 8 did.

The real game-changer is when you unfold it into a small tablet size device. I now watch YouTube and other streaming and Samsung TV on my new Galaxy Z-Fold 3 in this mode and with the Galaxy Buds 2, it is like a private movie theater.

The built in stereo speakers of the Z-Fold 3 have the best sound of any phone I have ever used (including my wife’s iPhone 12), with a rich and full bodied sound that is surprising in such a small, light device.

This is really great because I used my phone in speaker mode for business calls when I need to be on my computer at the same time. I am overwhelmed by how good this Galaxy Z-Fold 3 performs in every way.

The 120 Hertz refresh rate makes scrolling on the screen buttery smooth and fast. The under-screen selfie camera is really well hidden, and you have to look hard to see it. It is so much better than a camera bump like iPhones have.

The main cameras on the back of the phone are next level, and the photos it takes actually look better than the ones my wife’s iPhone 12 takes! The new fingerprint sensor integrated into the on/off switch is a fantastic improvement since it makes turning on and logging into the phone a single long press of the on/off switch and the biometrics seems to be very accurate for the various fingers I have programmed it to read.

In summary, if you have ever dreamed of a great smartphone that can also be a great mini-tablet, this is the ultimate device to have. It is the only kind of smartphone my hand wants to hold anymore. And, with the S-Pen (Fold Edition) it is a leap beyond my Galaxy Note 8 that it replaced.

Hello, everyone! I hope this review can provide some insight and inform some people coming from iPhone or upgrading from another android device. Let’s get to it! I would consider myself an uber nerd when it comes to consumer electronics.

I’m one of those people who take complete advantage of my carriers upgrade service and move to a new phone every year like clockwork, granted trading in my old device each time. For the last several years I’ve loyally stuck with Apple’s iPhone.

This isn’t brand loyalty as much as it’s personal preference and ecosystem related. The main things I’ve looked for in a phone up until now has beenbuild quality, OS, photo and video capture quality, display quality, resolution and refresh rate, processor strength, ease of use, battery life, and most important to me, consistency.

This wasn’t the first, or even the first few times I’ve switched to an android phone. Prior to my last few iPhone’s I’d owned several Samsung Galaxy devices. I always choose the flagship of any make as I don’t want to miss out on any potential features at the top of the spec list.

For example, being able to capture Pro Raw footage only at a certain sku on the latest iPhone 13 line. This was a HUGE decision for me to switch back to Samsung/Android after having my expectations on iPhone/iOS exceeded for many years at this point.

What better way to write this review than sitting here with my Z Fold 4 unfolded, using the split keyboard, allowing me to comfortably write an in-depth review on a mobile phone. The unfolded, tablet-like display is truly a treat to interact with.

That’s the perfect place to start, considering the novelty of a folding display is what got me thinking to begin with. If you’re wondering why I waited until the fourth generation, well, we all know what happens when we adopt brand new technology early.

I had to let most, if not all of the kinks be ironed out. Display/Build Quality/S Pen The Z Fold 4’s main display (tablet mode) is a 7. 6″ QXGA+ 2176×1812 AMOLED with 374 Pixels Per Inch (ppi) with HDR10+ and a Variable Refresh Rate of up to 120hz.

The VRR display allows the phone to dynamically lower the refresh rate, where it makes sense, to save on battery life. If you’re wondering what QXGA+ means, just know it’s in between a display resolution of 1440p(QHD) and 2160p(UHD) and has an 21.

6:18 aspect ratio. In other words, it’s pretty **bleep** crisp. The 120hz refresh rate is immediately recognizable as someone coming from the 120hz Pro Motion Super Retina XDR display on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

For general navigation, web browsing, scrolling, and multitasking they’re both near identical in terms of snappiness, but the Z Fold’s animations seem to be ever so slightly shorter, edging it out as a win for me in overall responsiveness at my fingertips.

We can’t leave out what’s arguably the most handy part of the Fold’s display configuration, and that’s the cover display that allows you to easily use the Fold as a conventional, regular sized smartphone, that is if you’re willing to overlook the almost obnoxiously chunky feel while in that mode.

This is further exacerbated by a particular phone case, but more on that later. The cover display is what you’ll likely use the majority of the time you’re out and about once the initial excitement for the main display wears down a bit.

Both of the Fold’s displays get bright enough to easily see what’s going on, even in direct sunlight. Text is easily legible, and texting is easy work, especially on the main display. One of the most enjoyable experiences on the near tablet sized display, besides being able to comfortably watch all your favorite content from any streaming service, believe it or not, is the extra S Pen functionality.

I highly recommend buying the Samsung Fold Edition Case with S Pen included for $90. Normally, a quality case will run you $50 and the Fold Edition S Pen costs another $50, so that’s a $10 saving for something that’s almost half the reason you’d buy this phone to begin with.

The other upside to this particular case is the satisfying soft but sturdy material that is a pleasure to touch regularly. It also has a protruding hump on the back that holds the S Pen in place, but also acts as a handle that makes the Fold much easier to hold onto.

I can’t emphasize quite how much this truly improved my experience holding the phone, but I can say, without a dount, I’d NEVER use it any ither way. The S Pen technology in general has come a long way, with very precise stroke detection, as well as being able to detect pressure for light or dark strokes.

Personally, as somewhat of a mediocre artist, I truly enjoy drawing and coloring in the built in PenUp app. Handwriting messages and notes in Samsung Notes is also satisfying, and offers up a criminally underused feature introduced with the earliest Samsung Note series phones back in the day, and that’s the scrapbooking feature that allows you to drag and drop pictures or excerpts from web pages directly from a browser with the URL embedded into the note.

There’s tons of hidden S Pen features I highly recommend watching a YouTube video on. Also, keep in mind, you want to purchase the S Pen Fold Edition ($50) or S Pen Pro ($100) because the Note series S Pen has a tip designed specifically for that phone and could damage the Fold display much easier.

up in, the User Interface (UI). Samsung has opted for one of themost powerful processors in an Samsung phone, and one that’s used in the majority of recent gaming phones, the first generation 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ (SM8475).

The chip has an octa-core CPU with variable multi core clock speeds, and an Adreno 730 GPU. I chose the base model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM which is the standard across all storage capacity configurations.

What this means for real world performance is absolutely breezing throughmultitasking,which is better than ever on the main display, where you can now have three, and technically even four applications open at the same time.

With three application windows open, you have one taking up half of the main display vertically, and two other applications, square shaped, taking up the other half of the display. So two squares and one vertical rectangle.

Picture having a YouTube video in one square, a text box in another, and Samsung Notes in the vertical rectangle. As far asgaming goes, there’s not a single mobile game,whether it be on the Play Store or an external APK that this device can’t completely max out at its highest supported frame rate.

Games that run at 60FPS are a cake walk and the few supported 120FPS games are a near flawless experience as well. One thing I underestimated was just how much of a delight gaming would be on the large main display and just how many games and applications “just work” and fill up the entire display.

Out of 75 or so applications I’ve tested on the Fold, only one of them had to be manually adjusted to fill the entire display, and even then, it somehow just magically knew how to translate into the display’s odd aspect ratio.

Unfortunately, Samsung’s arguably most interesting phone has only received Android version 12L, while some of the other latest Android devices have received the brand new Android 13. I imagine this wouldn’t matter as much given Samsung is still opting for itsproprietary secondary overlay UI, One UI 4.

1. 1, which is likely necessary to tie in the seamless multitasking and S Pen features, as well as some other niche features like DeX. I won’t get into DeX much in this review because it’s an impractical feature if you ask me, allowing for a user to use their Fold somewhat like a laptop.

“Google it. ” Hands down, one of the best features of this device is the extremely reliable and consistent fingerprint reader built into the side power button, below your volume rocker. I am truly blown away by how fast an unlock is.

There’s also a fairly quick and somewhat consistent facial recoginition unlock that you can use in conjunction with any other unlock method, if that floats your boat.

Just bought the phone, been using it for a few days. There’s no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. This phone will not have the best screen, or be the strongest processor or durability wise, and its camera is years behind the quality of cameras on phones nowadays.

But what you’re getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability.

I own a professional camera, so I don’t care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. I take good care of my phones, plus never (accidentally) drop them, so the fact that the hinge can theoretically be snapped in half is less of an issue for me.

The downsides FOR ME, are unimportant, so I prefer to use something fun compared to the “old reliable”. Products like the flip and fold phones show me that big corporations can actually create new and interesting tech instead of regurgitating the same product over and over again.

Even though Samsung is guilty with this as well, they have always been ahead of the competition when it comes to making interesting gimmicky side projects like the note line of phones, and edge line.

They eventually took X gimmick or idea, iterated on it, and released a better, more refined version. Case in point, the flip 4 is the first phone in this line that is really competitive with the competition.

For me, the product is around an 80 to 90/100 and I can’t ask for anything better for the price point and the tech out at the moment (thank you guys who used the flip 1 to 3 for beta testing the design), but for some people, the gimmick isn’t useful or fun enough for the price asked, and they might give it more of a 3 star review.

If you have the expectation that this phone should be better than the tried and true flat phones out there that has been done for more than a decade now, please don’t do that. Be pleasantly surprised for a quirky, slightly flawed product that comes so close to the current best phones on the market.

But remember, those phones don’t flip. This review is coming from a guy who bought the lavender color, 128 gb model, and I’ve been using the Samsung S 10 before this, the S 7 edge before that, the Note 4 before that, the IPhone 4S before that (cough cough), and a flip phone before that.

I’ve come full circle.

Excellent build, crystal clear audio, fantastic keys and multi-day battery life! Ordered and was delivered as stated (like new, but without original box or accessories). Still saved a good $60 off retail MSRP.

I was able to install a few. apk (apps) such as Telegram, Google Maps, and MyRadar and that was all I needed, and desired. It covers the basics well, but I do miss the touch screen and speech to text capabilities my Sunbeam F1 had, but this is built so much better and I have no doubts itll last for many many years.

Speaker phone and earpiece loudness are unbelievable compared to a modern iPhone as well. And so far after charging it Friday, its Sunday and still going no problem. Id expect about 3 days easily with light to moderate use.

Camera is there, but its not winning any awards. Enough to capture your surroundings or send something in a message. Not for capturing your entire vacation, but itll do in a pinch. If you want to detox digitally, or just need a VoLTE flip phone to replace an aging 3G one, this is the one to get on Verizon, or even unlocked on other networks.

Had to purchase this because they wouldn’t let me connect a replacement convoy after losing. This is two ounces heavier and feels like a brick. Laugh if you want but the Convoy 3 was the best phone on the market for me, even 5 years ago.

This one doesn’t have a front screen or ability control the media player from the front. The speakers are on the inside not the outside. Overall the same functions are there, so why do they have to make the phone so big? Oh well, hopefully they’ll make it smaller in the future because it really is so, so heavy and big; I need a flip phone when laying tile and my screens crack with smartphones.

I don’t understand why Samsung doesn’t make another Convoy. Not happy with Verizon but have been with the company before it was Verizon back 30 years ago in the Bell Atlantic days. *Why can’t they change the music on hold is another story for a different day.

This phone was purchased to replace a 6 year old LG Revere flip phone for work. This phone is slightly larger and thicker than the Revere but the buttons and function screens are almost completely the same.

My real hang up with the phone has nothing to do with the ergonomics but with the operating system itself. My #1 pet peeve is the search function for contacts. One would think that searching for a contact would be the same as paging thru a phone book.

You would start with the first letter in the persons last name. In the case of a business, the first letter of the business name. This OS searches for the entered letter throughout the entire listing so the more information you place in the contact form, the more likely it will pop up.

This makes the process cumbersome and unnecessarily wastes time. My 2nd pet peeve is the running dialog of text messages. I can understand why some would like this but it would have been nice to be able to turn this function off.

My 3rd pet peeve is the fact that there are outer buttons on the phone that can operate functions on the phone as you grab it from the holster or pocket and while the lid is closed. My final pet peeve is that when you are finished with the phone and close the lid, the phone doesn’t reset to the start page but upon reopening you find yourself back where you left off.

While some would find this handy, the need to backtrack back out of a previous and now unwanted function is just another waste of time. To make matters worse, if your not paying attention to what your doing, you wind up sending something to the wrong person or dialing the wrong number.

Anyone reading this may think I hate this phone and I don’t. My first replacement was a Sonim XP5S, a phone I really liked for it’s size and heft but with a more complicated and disruptive OS.

Overall Winner !! There are many features to consider in “today’s” “multi-function” phones. Let me just say this; virtually every feature that you find in a flip phone (PLUS TETHERING !) performs at a 5 out of “5 Star” level in this phone.

I don’t say it lightly when I say that this phone is GREAT so far! BUY IT! ! Thanks to the Kyocera engineers for a great design. I am TOTALLY satisfied.

I gave my husband one of these for a Christmas gift who I had a co-worker to buy for me so I could keep it a secret. The first one he had, he could only hear people through the speaker and the replacement the lid wants to close on its own, so he has to hold it at a certain angle to keep it from closing.

Don’t waste your money on this phone because rugged is not the word for it. A lot of money to pay for something that is not as good as his old cheap flip phone he had! We are both very disappointed!.

This is a very nice phone. That being said this product is already obsolete even though it is a 4G phone. Verizon WILL NOT activate this phone. In fact, they advised that anyone with this phone already activated will be unable to use their phone after December of this year.

I can’t help but think the seller already knew this as it is stated on his page that he will not take the phone back if Verizon will not activate.

I was thrilled when the Convoy 4 came out! I have had a Convoy 2 or 3 for several years, so I immediately purchased it even before it was available in the stores. What could be better than an updated version of the phone that I already love? Well the convoy 4 is HUGE.

Quit a big larger and heavier than the convoy 3 (same size battery though). I was pretty surprised – I thought smaller and lighter was what newer technology provides – what we have grown to expect. I carried the phone around for 5 days.

It was a BRICK! Heavier than a lot of smart phones even. Ok, so the screen looks to be the exact same size as the convoy 3, Battery is the same size, etc etc. Only noticeable difference (that I care about) is it has a better flashlight.

The better flashlight was the only reason I considered keeping it for more than 10 seconds. Back to Convoy 3 – and hoping that a newer flip-phone will come out someday that doesn’t feel like it’s from the year 2000.

You can do better Samsung! I hope. -my first review ever! :).

I purchased this phone for my dad. Its very durable. When he calls people, they can here him nice and clear now. This is a great phone for him. He is very happy with it. Im very happy with my purchase.

I highly recommend this phone. Especially for someone older. Its very simple to use.

I have only had this for a short while, but given the extensive search between the pros and cons, I can already list out what I do and don’t enjoy. From a personal perspective I don’t mind the interruptions caused by opening the phone or the limited battery, because I habitually charge often and love to open the phone.

I would say that if you are a heavy phone user that wants to continue using their phone heavily then this ain’t it. I personally used to be a heavy phone user and got this so that I wouldn’t use it as much, and it works thanks to the cover screen.

Considering the software, it’s lovely but I would like a few more options in certain areas. Many have heard by now that if you take a picture while the phone is closed, the aspect ratio is square. If it could be the same as any other picture that would be great, since I could always crop it later anyways.

A second would be the option to close my phone on a call without ending the call. I would like to be able to keep the ability to end the call by closing it, but maybe have like a button on the menu (with the mute and speaker and such) that allows me to close the phone safely for the convenience.

Secondly, in order to see the information on notifications, you have to allow all the information to be available on the lock screen. While I am okay with this, I would love to see the option for which when using the cover screen, the notifications or withheld (either just the details or the notification entirely) and you can use your fingerprint, similar to how you would for the Samsung pay from the front, in order to reveal the notifications.

So that I can keep others from prying my notifications from the cover screen/ lock screen while still being able to easily access my notifications without opening my phone. These are all simple gripes and don’t take away from the phone much, but they are features I would love to see.

All these top-tier phones do all the same things quite excellently and this phone is no exception except for the lack of a telephoto lens, which may be a good thing if it helps not make the otherwise streamlined phone look like it growing several barnacles sticking out like the iPhone.

This phone of course adds the flip feature which appears to be perfectly implemented. The funny thing is, now that phones can do so many different things, Samsung completely dropped the ball with the most basic service, which is the Phone and Voicemail apps.

My previous two phones had the phone and voicemail integrated, transcribed my emails, and had many other features that are lacking in this phone. One would think that the new phone would be better, but no.

The phone and voicemail apps are two totally separate apps, so you can’t for instance, block a number after checking a voicemail without remembering the number and manually searching for that number in the other app.

If you want transcribed messages, Samsung has a weird workaround where you can have voicemails sent to the messaging app. So now we are involving three different apps in what used to be done in one. And to add insult to injury, I downloaded the Google app from the play store that does all these things well only to find that the voicemail feature is disabled when installed on a Samsung phone.

I guess just to force users to use Samsung’s convoluted apps whether they want to or not. This poor software implementation is almost a dealbreaker and part of me wants to send this phone back despite the fact that it is wonderful in every other way.

I’ve had my eyes on the Flip3 ever since it launched, and I finally got my hands on one. It hasn’t taken me long to conclude that this has already been the best performing handset I have ever had the chance to call my own.

It can handle everything I throw at it with ease. I have also had an absolute blast sharing the power of my Galaxy with fellow colleagues and friends. They are seemingly mesmerized by the folding form factor and the features that it is capable of, as well as the neat functions found on the cover screen! My only concerns diving into this new phone were the durability and the battery life, as each have historically been issues reported with the previous iterations of the devices.

But after getting to use one for myself for sometime now, those worries are melting away more by the day. Samsung really crafted a quality handset that feels like it will last for a good amount of time, I don’t feel like the hardware is compromised anywhere that would make it susceptible to random damages or anything of that nature.

Also, Samsung ought to win an award for Best Phone Design of 2021. The Flip3 is striking to look at, especially when it’s folding and simply resting on a table. I can’t help but just stare at it sometimes and wonder how a fully functioning smartphone can exist in such a compact, beautiful package.

So overall, I love my Flip3. The hardware has clearly matured to a point where an average consumer can feel more comfortable accepting a folding form-factor as just another feature as opposed to something that involves lots of compromises.

After AT&T shut off my 3G Samsung Rugby suddenly, I needed a new flip phone that is solid. The one AT&T wanted to substitute was cheap and flimsy. I have no use for a smart phone as incoming and outgoing calls are all I need in a phone.

The Sonim has a lot of features I don’t need and getting used to it takes some time. Call and voice quality are fine and no issues with battery life. Loud volume is great in a noisy enviroment. Pairing Bluetooth to my vehicles took some time, but everything works well.

Texting is a nightmare. For instance: if you hit the 2 key while texting you should have the choices of a, b, c, or 2 but you get random words to choice from and letters not in alphabetical order. The phone is very sturdy but thick and heavy.

I tried using it for a week but it was too frustrating to use texting and voicemail. I returned it for a refund.

Heavy duty phone, I had to do a complete phone reset to fix a few bugs. After that, worked great. Easy to set a few command functions, and does have Internet and works really good for a small screen.

The browser icon is not how to get to the Internet though. Top left function button opens up (my notifications) then scroll down to search and press that and just put in what ever site you want. This was not in the pdf info I could find.

I am satisfied with this phone. Not like the Kyocera of course, but at least I don’t have to take the battery out 20 times a day to get a signal. All in all, for a flip phone rating. 5 star for the extra features that newer flips normally don’t have.

This model phone is the very best I’ve owned. After years of use that would have and did destroy others, this model kept on working even after falling onto the highway from a motorcycle and being totally emerged in salt water three times for more than two minutes and fresh, soapy water for nearly one.

The phone finally lost its volume and could only be heard by speaker phone. I was unable to buy a new one, I was told it was no longer produced, but was able to find a refurbished one on ebay. It has functioned perfectly for three months.

I will use this model and replace it with another when needed as long as they are available!!!!.

Great little flip phone nice and rugged. It has excellent reception. good battery life and it is just an all out great old style phone perfect for someone who does not know how to use a smart phone. Great for elderly people.

This replaces an older, broken phone (phone stopped charging because of a bad, non-replaceable charging port) of the same model. The older one had a camera which I never used, so this is a moot point.

I rarely text and I don’t need a QWERTY keyboard. This is my “Gibbs” phone (If you watch NCIS, you will understand. ) I do a lot of outdoors activities and get caught in the rain, ride bikes on bumpy roads, drop my phone, etc.

This is perfect for me, but not for everyone. I love this phone!.

Honestly I think that this product is really good, I just got it this month and it’s been working pretty good. If I want to improve the product I would improve the creases and the screen, and this phone collects a lot of fingerprints, also the screen is pretty sensitive.

One of the best features on this phone is that you can put this phone in saturated mode, or you can have the phone on regular mode so it’s not as saturated. I would highly recommend this phone to somebody that wants to flip phone.

I think that this phone is really good for the price and the storage, I also got this phone at T-Mobile so it wasn’t as much as the original price on the original website my phone comes with 256 gigs as well as 8 gigs of RAM.

This phone shipped fast. The shipping can range from 1 to 3 days depending on where you get it and my grandmother’s came in after one day and mine came in after 2 or 3 days.

So it has been a long while since I have truly enjoyed using a phone like I do this one, and that’s perhaps because every other phone is virtually indistinguishable. The camera has actually surprised me by getting some really great photos.

I was able to get this awesome portrait shot of my two year old nephew and it looks amazing. The battery life easily gets me to my bed at night and still usually has 20-30% left to go. I use my phone just like I would any other, and perhaps it is exactly what that peek display is for, and I use that a lot because it is a great way to interact with notifications and dismiss the ones you don’t need the full phone for.

All the reviews I have seen talk down about this phone, but let me tell you, I went into an AT&T store to see the fold, and that big old crease is right down the middle and you can feel it every time.

The display also feels just like this one does, like plastic. The razr has no crease in the display, and while yes, in a very certain lighting you can make out the steel plate outlines, but in my opinion this is far better than any sort of crease smack dab in the middle of the phone.

Oh and the “noise” it makes when folding is hardly noticeable, and gets softer as you use it more. We are bending plastic after all, but again, the reviews that are like it’s so annoying or in a quiet room it will make so much noise, are bold face lying.

Sure when these reviews put it up to basically do ASMR, it’s going to sound annoying, but that’s because ASMR is annoying in and of itself. The phone itself feels solid, and in fact, I dropped it out of my pocket and it hit my hard wood floor and got nothing.

No dent, no scratch, nothing. I have also been able to open and close one-handed after a little practice and the screen holds up great. I have never noticed a reason to be disappointing by the Snapdragon 710, this thing performs beautifully for everything I need.

All the spec-wh*res argue otherwise, but it’s the perfect blend of power and efficiency that let it last all day. The satisfying flip to end a phone call is worth it alone. I just love this thing.

I bought the Razr immediately once it was available, and was enjoying some of the features quite a bit. Favorite features: Compact design when folded. This is the biggest plus, fits in a pocket securely or in a cubby in the car without risk of getting tossed about in stop and go traffic.

Moto suite of features are the best of the industry on top of stock Android Exterior screen is useful, view notification and even read emails. Plus selfie camera viewfinder is awesome. Drawbacks: Old software, if your coming from a newer Android 10 phone this feels almost third world.

Battery life is poor Screen typing is too narrow, due to the chin, and the way the screen is set into the frame making. Narrow and tall aspect ratio. Interior screen feels cheap, lumpy flexible and scratches easily.

No wireless charging. Older chip set not as good at multitasking. Materials for the exterior are low quality, back is cheap plastic and the front glass screen shatters VERY easily. Happened on a three foot drop and I had to stop using it.

Cost to replace the screen alone (exterior only, internal touch features still worked) was over $1000! I complained and support took about 5 days to respond with confirmation that’s the price. End result is an expensive experiment, I already received a Samsung Galaxy Fold which is superior in every functional way, more sophisticated and has the modern specs you should get at this price point.

It comes with a case too.

I went from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the Z Flip 3, and aside from everyone else in the family being on iPhones and losing that connection, I don’t miss the Apple eco system, and them owning everything.

My biggest positive for the phone is the folded footprint. It is no longer the device that puts my leg to sleep from obstructing my thigh to hip nerves. Another big win is the OS and being able to access my files from the phone, or my PC.

The contact manager is now on par with that of Apple. Brave, DuckDuckGo, and Tor run flawlessly on Android, unlike Apple. My issues after now 5 months of use are the fold in the screen is much more noticable, you can’t reduce the image sizes anywhere on the phone (camera or otherwise), I’m having to restart it about every three weeks at this point, as it loses wifi connection, and the antenna is much weaker than that of my wife’s iPhone 12 Pro Max.

After now being in my pocket for 5 months the hinge grinds and sounds like an old man’s knees when bending or standing. Unless there are a number of forward thinking changes to the next version I’ll be forced back onto a fixed platform size (which sucks).

The fold wrinkle has to go. Several foldables are currently addressing the crease, and at least one (Chinese) has a phone coming out Q2 of this year. Apple is always one generation behind on all tech, they no longer innovate, and by the time they release a foldable anything, it will be four years after the initial Galaxy Foldable.

Samsung has now fallen to number 2 when it comes to innovation. Oppo, One Plus, Xiaomi, Hauwai, ZTE and TCL are now the bleeding edge. Oppo Find N and Hauwei Mate X 2 are being release with no crease, much better cameras and user controls.

This phone is much larger than I thought it would be, such that I laughed upon first seeing it. It is not just a thicker version of a flip phone; it is also longer top to bottom. Once I got over the size, I found it an amazing phone–well built, great functionality, etc.

Great phone. If you are looking for a flip phone that can handle modern functionality, this is it.

Battery life lasts a week, phone is small and less of a distraction. Setup was not that bad. Learning to type on the flip phone was a learning experience but not so bad after getting use to it. Less of a distraction than my prior smart phone.

I have had mine for about two weeks. Feels solid and works well. Not particularly small as flip phones go; but I will do anything to avoid carrying a smart phone. Was packaged well and shipped fast.

The Samsung Convoy is a good phone for those who want a basic (nothing complicated) flip phone. The “rugged” features are great too! My husband and I both use–and abuse!–this phone and it puts up with it very well.

It handles every day wear and tear, as well as being dropped and getting wet! If I do get this phone wet, I usually take the battery out and let it dry for 12-24 hours and normally it powers back up just fine and operates well.

Occasionally I will have a button stick (makes texting difficult) for a day or two after getting wet but it clears up on its own. I like the basic features, this phone has noting too complicated, but also has nice things like camera and camcorder, which are not 100% necessary but very nice.

Our grandmother also uses this same phone, so I’d say it’s a good phone an older person who may just want basic calling features and needs louder volume, and a large, clear screen as well as nice enough for a younger person who wants the ability to text, surf the web, etc.

We bought this phone on purpose for the ruggedness and it has met my expectations of lasting longer with my torture than other phones I’ve had. I’ve never had the screen crack from a drop, and the battery cover has a “locked” position so the battery doesn’t fall out when dropped (this happened countless times with other phones).

I have no complaints about the Samsung Convoy. I feel it gets good reception for my area. We live in a rural area and reception is spotty no matter what phone I have. I really like the flip phone style because I wear my phone in my pocket and I have never accidentally pocked dialed anyone.

I rate the Convoy 5 stars over all. It’s a great basic phone. We have recommended this phone to many people and everyone that has one seems very happy with it.

I am very disappointed in this cell phone. The ad states that the phone works a verizon cell phone plan. I brought the cell phone that I purchased to a verizon store to have my phone number programed into it and the verizon rep stated that I could not use the cell phone on my verizon cell phone plan as it can only be used if I had a ATT cell phone plan.

I can not use the phone as it will not work on my verizon cell phone plan. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE IF YOU HAVE A VERIZON CELL PHONE PLAN AS IT WILL NOT WORK.

When I got this phone, I was looking for a basic phone, that was durable, had a long battery life, and was just the right size. I didn’t want a big phone that wouldn’t fit in my pockets, like most phones are now.

I also needed the number keys to be fairly large, due to my aging eyesight, and fat finger, This phone was perfect for me. Performance This phone performs much better than all of my previous phones. It has a decent camera, not professional quality, or anything, but decent.

Voice Quality The voice quality is excellent. The other person’s voice is crystal clear. I particularly liked that outside noise seems to be reduced. Battery Life This may be it’s best feature. My previous cell phone seemed to need to be charged every couple of hours, even when I wasn’t talking on it.

That phone wasn’t internet accessible, so there really wasn’t much to be drawing it’s battery, yet it still didn’t last long. The Samsung Convoy SCH 640 cell phone, was a refreshing change. I could talk on it for hours, and still not need to charge it for a couple of days.

Durability This is most phenomenal! I dropped this phone on hard cement several times, and there isn’t even a scratch on it, let alone, any other kind of damage. Ease of Use Excellent! Unlike most phones, I didn’t have to practically take a course on how to navigate it, just to use it.

It is nice and simple to use. Design I love the design. I can see the numbers, type them with my fat fingers, and fit it all in my tiny feminine pockets, with ease.

Worked good for a couple weeks. Kept good charge. Now it will just go from full charge to nothing in a matter of minutes. With both batteries. There was an SD card in the phone that I had to take out.

It was getting hot while charging and kept asking if we wanted to put our data or something on the card. It doesnt get hot since I removed the card. We have had this style phone fir years, as its all my husband will use.

This is the first one that has ever done this. Ive tried turning everything off and it still wont hold charge. Something is zapping the batteries.

I live in an area with poor signal strength, so this is the phone for me. I need a phone that can take a beating, so this is the phone for me. it is practically indestructable. If I want to take photos I use a camera.

If I want to browse the internet or send emails, I use a computer. This phone CAN take pictures, but the quality sucks. It can send texts, but it is a PIA. I don’t care. I don’t text and don’t want to get them.

I just need a phone that works. Got that? How is it for signal? Great. I took a 2000 mile boat trip on the rivers in the heart of America and very rarely did I come to a place I couldn’t get a signal.

Once in a while I got down to 1x, but mostly I had 3G. At home, if you take a new Android and stick it out the upstairs window you might get 1 bar of 4g. The Motorola has plenty of bars of 3G anywhere on the farm.

How is it for durability? Drop it or throw it, no problem. Drop it in the creek, no problem if it is buttoned up. Battery life? Varies. If you have a good signal you can sometimes go for days without charging.

Problems? Eventually the rubber side buttons can fall off. That eliminates the waterproofing and it might be a button you like. Pluses? My 90 year old Mom has had problems with coverage with her Old Folks Cellular phone, so I got her one of these.

It is just as easy to use as the Old Folks phone, but has lots of bars. We’d go in a panic when she wouldn’t answer the old phone, which didn’t work sometimes for poor signal. If you want just a good phone, this is it.

They make new ones that are probably just as good, but why pay 10x as much?.

It’s everything you’ve come to expect from the Convoy line. The battery life excellent, camera mediocre, plenty of features, but now it’s tough as nails. How about a 16ft drop onto concrete? It gets damp all the time.

and still works perfectly. My only complaint has been since new the phone thinks I’ve ejected the SD card on occasion (1-2 times per month) however this is a minor problem fixed by re-seating the card.

I have recently upgraded to the Z Fold 4 and wow am i impressed. i have never previously owned a Samsung. i dont like bloatware and Samsung like so many really try to push their own apps on you. What made me consider is the multitasking capabilities of this phone.

i do not own a PC and have transistion to online for all my bills and day to day. previously this would require me to either swap between apps like crazy (to get B-Pay details or what not) or sit at my work computer and pay my bills before i go home.

now i can have my banking app open as well as my emails and calender and effortlessly pay my bills and update everything all at once. its just amazing having a phone which really is a one size fits all.

yes samsung still try to push me into their apps/ecosystem but with some digging you can get around this annoyance, but their are a couple of things this phone does handling better then my previous Pixels.

Dual Sim – the phone/contacts app make it effortless to dial from the sim you want it to without fail. Customisation – One UI is far better then what i remember samsung being back when they forced you to have the back button on the right.

very happy with it thats for sure Pocket PC – plug in a HDMI and all of a sudden its a PC outstanding stuff, each screen being the outer, inner or Monitor all have their own desktop’s so you dont have to (but can) have 1 home screen for them all, each have their own the outer screen is perfect size.

phones these days are getting bigger and bigger and i am not a fan. i want a phone i can use with one hand comfortable without feeling like i am going to drop it. 6. 2in is a perfect size. i hope it never gets bigger as thats a huge draw card.

I bought the Galaxy Z Flip4 phone a month ago, and am trading it in for the S22 model. In my opinion, the flip phone is a solution looking for a problem. Since my S10 was broken, I didn’t research the flip model enough, and made a quick decision based on the novelty of the product.

First, I usually carry my phone in a pocket, which has never caused any discomfort when sitting in a chair or car. I also carry my phone in my bike jersey pocket. When folded, the flip phone feels like a can of chew when I sit down.

At least I imagine that it feels like a can of chew. It’s simply too bulky and in the fold mode, and a hassle to open all the time when making a call or text communicating. I could accept and adapt to this, but the biggest problem is that this phone doesn’t position well with all of my wireless charger pads and stands.

The phone battery charge area is positioned in the bottom flip, which requires the phone to be completely folded or folded at greater than 90 degrees to prevent it from slightly tipping and losing charge connection.

I doesn’t lay flat very well on the round charger pads, and for the upright stands, the “sweet spot” for charging is so small that any movement in the phone results in losing the charge connection. The charging location is also too sensitive to keep connected when I position the phone on the console charging pad in my car.

Just a slight bump moves the phone enough to lose the connection. So at this time, I would only recommend the flip phone if you want to get attention from others, who think it that a folding phone looks curious and cool.
