20 Best Vertical Window Fan (2022 Updated)

Am using Holmes Dual blade Window Fan in our “attic bedroom” in our very old house. I’ve been using only “exhaust” mode and installed in the uppermost part of the window, near the ceiling. 300 sq ft – no a/c – upstairs temp averaged 95 degrees in summer.

This window fan, both fans set to exhaust has cooled the room by 20 degrees! Been running the exhaust 24 hrs a day, for 2 weeks. Pulling cool air in at night, pushing hot air out during the day – average outside temp 102 degrees.

Fan is in east-facing window, with west-facing window open, pulls cooler air through, and saved money by not needing to install larger ceiling exhaust! Definitely a great value in this Holmes Dual blade Window Fan! Highly recommend!.

So far I am very happy with the Holmes Dual Blade Window Fan. I have only been using it about two weeks. I am surprised at the amount of air it moves. When the air is comfortable outside it keeps the room comfortable inside.

I use it in a small bedroom. In the afternoon the heat in the bedroom is really hot in hot weather. Using the exhaust feature which pulls the hot air out of the room works very well. My bedroom is much cooler when the sun goes down.

I then switch the setting back to bringing in the outside air. The cool outside air the fan brings into the room keeps the room comfortable all night. Love the Holmes Window Fan Model HAWF2041 Temperatures are currently in the 80’s.

When the temperatures rise into the 90’s A/C possibly will be needed.

I have had this window fan less than a year and it already broke! The previous window fan I had for about 10 years before it stopped working. I did nothing different with the two fans, this one just must be of lesser quality.

I’m very disappointed and upset, especially because of the cost of this item.

It’s a pretty cool fan to be honest. The airflow is great, and you can choose if you want to blow air in or out. It’s really neat overall, EXCEPT. there’s an annoying rattling noise when it’s running! Almost as if the blades are hitting against something inside it.

I returned the item and bought another one from another seller, figuring it was just the one that was defective, but. nope, I guess it’s a common thing. With the second unit, I found that if I turn the fan vertically, the rattling stops and it’s almost silent.

Bliss. But, the instructions specifically say that the fan should not be used vertically, so. Also, the foam space-filler things didn’t really fit right in my window, they weren’t tall enough. I was able to put the smallest pieces beneath the larger pieces and that lifted them up to be tall enough, so it kinda worked out in my case.

But just know it may vary Either way, i’m a noise freak and I just can’t stand the rattling, so I’m going to be returning the second unit too. So close to being really cool!.

I received this fan a few weeks ago, and put it right to use at our lake house. Our primary home has central heating and cooling and so our windows are primarily closed at home, but our lake home is older and does not have HVAC upgrades, so this device was the absolute perfect addition for some great airflow.

The fan is incredibly easy to set up at nestles very snug in the window with the given material to ensure a good secured seal. I had no worry about it falling out. This device is great because you can also use the exhaust setup, which for us at the lake house is just amazing.

Our lake home is fairly small, and it sits uninhabited during the week, so with heat from the outside it can get a musty or stuffy type of feel and smell inside. This fan was incredible in being able to draw out that musty air feeling.

I also feel that the fan is very quiet. I have never owned another window model like this, so it is difficult for me to compare noise among other models like this one, but generally speaking it is quiet compared to other box type fans and other floor models I have owned in the past.

Totally recommend this fan. It has been a huge upgrade for our lake home!.

We live in a really hot climate and don’t have equal air circulation because of vaulted ceilings in our home. We have been looking into trying a window fan and am so glad we were able to! The fan fits our window well.

It blows in cool air and helps to make our room cooler. I really appreciate that it is not a super noisy fan! It seems well made and like it will last a long time. I’m considering getting another one for another room in our home.

I recently received this portal window air bar and it is really nice. We use this window air bar in our master bedroom. We turn it on at night to help cool off the room, since the summers will be gone soon and fall weather will be approaching we will not be using our air conditioner so this fan will serve its purpose.

It also comes with accessories so if you are someone like me who likes to darken their room with the darkening curtains- this fan is your go-to as it comes with accessories which will help to keep your room dark.

This is the best part of this fan- I used to own window fans in the past but I used to hate them as my room would be so bright and shiny as soon as the sun would rise. Buy this fan- you won’t regret.

This fan deserves 5 stars, but I took off one because it’s all plastic. The edges that attach to the window casing are plastic and sort of stretching out by being chewed up every time I put it in or take it out of the window.

Otherwise it’s essential to deal with my problem. I live in a top-floor apartment (4th floor) with a “Z” pattern layout (meaning there is no cross-breeze between any of my rooms). In addition all my window face east and west, so I get the beating sun every hour it’s out! plus the heat that rises, and the heat from the roof.

Ugh! Last year I bought the industrial version of this fan (Air King 9166, all metal fan). It didn’t do enough to alleviate the sweltering heat for my situation. This year I bought this fan (Air King 9155) hoping the fans would pull/push together.

Happily they do work together synergistically. These fans are ideal for a home with 2 or more stories. I’m just on one floor, but having the 2nd fan makes a huge difference. I have the 9166 fan in the dining room, in the middle of the “Z” floor plan.

And the 9155 is ideal in my bedroom, at the top of the “Z”. It’s much quieter than the 9166 and is perfect blowing on me while sleeping (I also use a ceiling fan). During the summer, I close off the living room with a portière (curtain) because it’s the only room I can air condition successfully.

I use A/C only on the worse days. When I can afford it, I’ll get a second 9155 for this room to bring the cool air into this room at night, and help the other fans move the air through my labyrinth. I’m a renter.

Box could use a little bit more reinforcement to survive trip from the Manufacture! Also making the box rain resistant would also help being FedEx doesn’t bother to cover the packages on rainy days. As for the fan it’s self, it does perform quite well, that’s why this is the second one I ordered.

Maybe I can get one of plastic extensions replaced do to damage on corner. Yes, I would recommend to a friend, but only because Zoro takes care of these unfortunate situations! Would have give at least 4 stars but condition received should have been a little better.

I wanted to buy the larger one because it moved more air, but my window wasn’t big enough. Make sure you measure before ordering. I read the reviews too and learned that the fan had to be oriented properly.

and my window was oriented the wrong way. The seller and manufacturer won’t want to hear this, but I took the fan out of its place and reoriented it so that it’s level when I installed it. It was a minor hassle.

If you decide to do this, it’s all on you, so be advised. Everything is plastic and it took a little patience. I installed it in my window so that the sliding window can still open and close, which you should also do.

When it cools down at night (IF it cools down at night) I open the window – and some downstairs – and turn the fan on high. I leave it that way until later the next day when it starts to warm up again.

I get cooler, fresh air throughout the house. and I don’t have to use the AC until later in the day. It saves money and makes it nice inside. It’s upstairs so I don’t hear it at all, but it’s really not noisy unless you’re right next to it.

I just bought this fan from target and it works wonders! I love the fan speeds and the 3 functions to intake, exhaust or “cool”, which both circulates and exhausts at the same time. It has allowed me to delay installation of my ac! It runs quietly.

The remote, however, did not work. Brand new out of the box and new batteries but nothing works. There is no phone number or email address on the website to contact for replacement. The Facebook page offers communication through messenger but the phone number the automated message gave me is wrong.

It’s for a completely different company.

I bought a fan Thru target to go I got home NO REMOTE. Yes target reimbursed me and we reordered another 9 “ twin reversible fan back in May 2022 I was told to call sometime in August maybe September to get another remote control I just talk to somebody on September 1 and said I’m sorry we’re at a ceiling fans in the season yet you can go onto your website and buy the same stupid fan.

why can’t you suggest oh you want another remote say $5- for replacement remote I’d be happy with that so I wouldn’t have to run back-and-forth with the clicky oh go to this fan use it go to that fan use it it’s ridiculous and I’m gonna find a Facebook page I’m gonna blast it all through social media that you are a lousy people to get a replacement remote when one person said I could get it! Fan makes awful noise when turned on. The only way it doesnt make noise is when its laying flat which is pointless. I purchased this fan in hopes that it would be great like the one I previously had.

Do NOT get this fan!!! Does Not come with a remote as some reviewers are implying! (and at this price it should!) The thermostat function doesn’t work at all! It runs for a few seconds then shuts off! The only thing that works on this is the intake/exhaust buttons and only on the plain low or high settings.

My fault for not noticing there’s no remote in the picture. Don’t be mislead! get a cheaper one! the buttons are all in front, but if you have a hard to reach window, as I have, this is not for you! Read the description carefully, and the thermostat setting is useless! Sorry I bought this, don’t know if I can get a refund or not, but I’m gonna try!.

Arrived promptly. Starts when button pushed. Controller is defective so once started, no matter how often the button is pushed, unit fails to change speed or shut off — only way to stop fan is to unplug it.

Thermostat mode is inaccessible. Probably a missing bias resistor on a triac in controller.

Works perfectly. Draws cooler outside air in so much better than the stand-up fan I have. The only change I would make is to swap the thermostat function for a remote control. Whenever I’ve used the thermostat, the fan cycles on and off constantly when it reaches the temp setting.

Although the fan is not loud, the noise of it cycling on and off is noticeable and a bit annoying, so I don’t use that function at all. On the other hand, a remote would make it more convenient to change speeds and switch intake and exhaust, which works independently on each fan.

Still, that’s a minor thing. This unit is very well made, very quiet and the larger fans are far superior at moving air in or out.

When I plugged it in, only the right side worked. The left fan did nothing – until I turned it over and upside down, thinking perhaps there might be another switch. When it was turned a way other than horizontal the left side of the fan would start spinning.

As soon as I turned it horizontal, the left side would stop spinning, while the right side continued to work. Obviously a defect, and a safety hazard at that. So I emailed them directly. After exchanging a few emails they stated they would send replacements.

So after waiting and nothing arriving I sent another email. Got an instant reply that my email was rejected.

We just brought the fan home. It works fine other than the remote control that came with it is cracked and not working. I emailed support and they told me, “I’m sorry to inform you but the remote control is already obsolete so the best resolution I can advise you is to return it back in store and present the copy of receipt for them to replace the remote control since this is just a newly purchased Fan.

” The fan itself is fine, but they do NOT stand behind their product or warranty. The remote is clearly defective in material and workmanship given it is cracked. They are not honoring the supposed 5-year warranty even on the day of purchase.

This is by far the best window fan I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a lot!! It says the temperature, it can blow the air just in or just out or one side can blow in and the other side can blow out at the same time! And there’s 3 speed settings and it feels like they are almost a high velocity so has a lot of power.

It comes with a remote which is handy and extra plastic sides if the accordion sides that are attached don’t fit. You won’t regret spending the extra money to get this fan which is pretty affordable to begin with.

Build quality and design are fantastic. The “closed” setting is a great idea, but the implementation is lacking; the shutter doesn’t actually seal the outside port, it just kind of covers it. mostly.

You can see tons of light and feel a breeze despite the shutter being closed. Don’t leave this thing in a window unless you’re actually using it. It doesn’t actually fit in my window (which is a very common design window) unless I take the screen out, and even then it sits/fits weird.

Despite that, it is still usable/fully functional when sitting on the inner sill, albeit that not being the intended install. Also, the foam blocks needed a lot of trimming to properly fit regardless of configuration.

In conclusion, it is a very well built and designed unit (making a truly universal window mount/insert device seems like an impossible goal) and I’m satisfied with it despite its shortcomings. In the end, it is supposed to go in a window and move air, which it does, even though I can’t install it “properly.

Good product. It is longer and more powerful than standard window fans, as well as having greater privacy (You can’t see through it), and the ability to close itself when you turn it off. The remote is annoying since you have to have a direct line of site and be close to it.

It’s not a cheap option, but it does come with a 5 year warranty and I’m unlikely to go back to the old school style window fans since I value privacy and power over price. Some have trouble with the blocks that are used for the corners.

I didn’t have any issues with these. They are mix and match. They might not fit every setup, but using three of them, I was able to get them to fit perfectly. It comes with 3, which comprise two each of three sizes.

It is heavy, but it wasn’t hard to get into the window and I didn’t have to remove the screen, either. It really isn’t louder or quieter than the fans I have used, so that is fine as well. It clocks in at average in that department.

This is a good option if you have the money and can see the value in what it offers.

Why get a 3 speed fan if you can’t use 2 of the speeds, I wonder? Oh, you probably shouldn’t, right? This thing makes a HORRIBLE loud, unending buzzy, solid note with angry bees added sound unless you have it on high.

so it’s either full blast or nothing with this, and when part of why I wanted it was to have a low, quiet, gentle flow of air in and out and a really quiet bit of white noise somewhat constantly present to sort of block the ever changing urban sounds when my window is open, only being able to run it on high really truly stinks.

The in/out toggles are needlessly stiff/quite hard to move (know those kinds of washing machines where you have to put your body weight on it a bit to push in really hard with the handle down then turn it really firmly to lock it closed? It’s like that except this isn’t, uh, sealing a machine super well so soapy water doesn’t flood the place!)-they are definitely NOT great for arthritic/weak fingers, be warned.

Another detail=BY DESIGN, it’s either both on or both off. You CAN get around it, kind of, but you can only turn one fan or the other OFF by carefully moving that stiff hard to toggle button in in between the in/out positions so the fan stops-not how it was meant to be and a definite design flaw considering there’s no REASON both should HAVE to run [come on, designers!].

there’s no one fan or the other, and just as importantly to me, NO separate speed option for the two fans which might be a huge dealbreaker since, uh, I might want a LITTLE air coming in and a LOT pushed out-ESPECIALLY since the OUT IS SO MUCH WEAKER on all these 2-way models (guessing bc of how the blades are curved-they just do NOT move air even 1/3 as fast going out as in, something I know because I’ve switched it around and tested it on 3 models of these things, this one, Hampton Bay’s, and the most costly one, a Bionaire that has a remote and so on).

Anyway, having zero separate control over the two fans’ speeds is incredibly lame, truly-even the cheapest one, the Hampton Bay model, gives total control over the speed of both sides and the only thing that could be called ‘lacking’ on that model is that it pre-programmed which one is in vs out in exchange mode-since these can be easily turned upside down/on either side, I see no big issue unless you care so much about the cord’s placement for your fan! I just made sure the one that goes out is on top, you know, so hotter air will go out, cooler in by default since I use these vertically in slider windows w/filters attached to them and also mounted above them so there’s no gap bc my windows are crazy high and we sometimes get smoke from wildfires here in Seattle and I can’t stand the smoke OR be buying a new fan every few months because of that so inexpensive furnace filters are QUITE a good fix I truly recommend even just for ALLERGENS since yeah, your fan being full of pollen is gonna kill it, especially since most pollen has a bit of nectar or sap etc and that sticky crud making the fan turn into the outside of your car when not washed for a couple of weeks and parked under some healthy trees=dead fan time.

Just strap, tape, or velcro em on, however is easy for you, and be aware that expensive often means less air moving through so. yeah, the cheap filters really ARE best for something as simple as keeping the air coming in a bit cleaner than a car covered in sticky pollen, sap, and bird poop.

Yes, this fan has a decent amount of power but with what it lacks, even if I had a perfect model, it is honestly not at all worth the extra cost over the Hampton Bay model I got at a chain hardware store with way less hassle.

What’s REALLY lousy=my only solution to a garbage fan with this loud migraine-bringing, cat ear-hurting noise (like my cat CRIED and went into oww it hurts digging at the door mode when it was on for 10 seconds since I wanted to see if the sound would stop which it did not-turned it off and she chilled out-how much pain do you think it takes for a sweet-mannered cuddly sleeping cat to yelp and shred the carpet?).

anyway, my only answer as of right now is to buy the same stupid one-which may still have the hideous hum-somewhere that WILL honor basic return within 30 days sorts of policies (bc “not returnable” really means “$#!t out of luck we robbed you blind moron” through Office Depot/Max) and exchange THERE, making another vendor the victims of OD/OM’s scam here until eventually one works.

So yeah, sorry, but beware of ‘not returnable. ‘ I’m returning ALL I CAN-all the regular office stuff I bought last visit-to this blasted place and never ever doing business with them again after this! I shouldn’t have to keep a defective item just because the manufacturer sent it, and you know.

the manufacturer isn’t answering. I’ve been on hold over an hour between my 3 calls to Genesis-it cut me out twice so far, all during business hours-I’ve had one line on hold w/them, one w/OD’s CS number.

Office Depot likewise is ignoring this little problem-again, twice so far-26 mins for call one, this one at 31:40. Will they answer? At this rate probably not. What do they care? They have my money til I call my credit card and say I got scammed by a freaking office store.

Save your cash and sanity. You DON’T want a ‘we don’t honor basic if it is faulty we’ll take it back’ third world country level customer service in this supposed-if-temporary first world nation. Thank goodness VISA doesn’t let this stuff fly because good grief I am ANGRY, now 2.

5 hours and 7 calls later.

It’s light, easy to install. I live on the third floor of an apartment building. I don’t turn heat on in my room even in our Maine winter. Didn’t want to bother with air conditioner – price, storage, can’t open window after installment.

Summer can be really hot and humid sometimes. My window fan saves my life on those days (literally). It’s a little loud (if you have zoom meeting and need to talk, turn it off for this time). But it doesn’t bother me when I sleep (and I am not very deep sleeper).

I prefer little noise with cooler room. If you are not very picky and want to save some money on electrical bill and air conditioner purchase, try this product. I am almost positive you’ll like it. It works better than any other fan, that’s for sure.

This fan does the job. It brings in cooler air from the outside and it has made a difference in the L. A. heat. Yes, it’s loud, but most fans we have when on high are, too. My big complaint is that cleaning it is impossible and then we’re just blowing dirt and dust into our home.

It’s ridiculous. All fans should be made to be easily cleaned then reassembled. We’re looking for another fan but will not buy this one again for this very reason.

I really love the Holmes window fans with 6 inch reversible airflow blades. My apartment is warm to hot about 355 days a year so the fan is constantly going in 3 rooms. An air conditioner is not an option for me because of my sinuses.

I normally buy 3 to 4 fans a year from Holmes so when they die out I have replacements. Holmes window fans can last a long time with proper care. This year I’m a little disappointed I had to pay double the price.

I went from 27. 99 to 59. 99 that’s a big jump in price. I’ll probably purchase one more because I like it so much.

measure your window space and keep the screen in the window, too. The fan says to use it horizontally but we’ve always had to use them vertically. We’ve had 2 others over the last 15 years. One died last year and the other is still going strong! For the price it is worth the buying.

On bigger windows we fit heavy cardboard or thin wood above to keep heat and wind out of the room and make sure the fan is SECURELY situated in the lower part of the window space.

I sought out this particular model since it is without the electronic controls and has common sense Analog controls. The best feature is the “temp” setting that shuts fan off when it gets to that temp and truns it back on if temp rises preventing too cold a flow.

The other is the individually adjustable fan units speeds and direction. They should just keep making this model.

Bought one of these in the spring of 2015 and installed it in about 30 minutes. Template provided made fan guard screen just touch the window when the window was closed, so perfect fit. I do not use the central air in my apartment, but turned the fan on high and let it run continuously from about April through September.

It is placed at the north side of the apartment, and I kept a window open a couple of inches on the south side of the apartment (about 1,200 square foot apartment over garage). Fresh air all summer. Turned it off and closed the window for the winter, opened and started using it again this April 2016.

It ran fine initially but when I turned it off in May it would not start back up though the fan blades were turning slowly. About 5,000 hours of continuous use is pretty good for a window exhaust fan in my opinion.

Have not looked into cleaning the existing fan or replacing brushes, if either of those are an option to maybe get more use from the current one.

I purchased this window/house fan to cool the master bedroom of my home in the evenings after a warm day. I thought that it would be a typical air blowing fan but there’s something different about this fan.

It actually drops the temperature in the room. It doesn’t just blow air around. I have found that after running the fan for a few hours in the evening and night, my bedroom actually becomes cold enough that I need a blanket.

I live in Southern California where night time temperatures don’t drop very low but this fan sure makes it cooler. The fan is secure in the window and in the event of a sudden weather change, I can close my window without removing the fan.

I highly recommend this fan and I’m very glad that I made this purchase.

This is the only fan we have found that moves enough air to make a difference, the only one we could find that fit the window and the third one we have purchased. It goes into service about mid April and is on constantly until mid October either pulling cool air from outside or reversed to pull cool air from the swamp cooler through the house.

The first one lasted for about 10 years, the second about 4. Once you get the 4 screws set, it is easy in and easy out. 3 speed settings for both intake and exhaust. Take out a few screws and it cleans easily at the end of summer.

SUMMARY: 5/5 stars – glad I bought it, would enthusiastically recommend it to friends, and would not hesitate to buy one again—–This Lasko model 2155A window fan – also sold as the Air King model 9155 – is a real blessing for me.

I live in the deep South (Georgia) where the oppressive summer heat index (high heat + near-100%-humidity) often reaches into the 130s and above – and I don’t have air conditioning. For me, a large whole-house window fan like this one makes all the difference between comfort and living hell when July and August roll around (it’s July 27th as I write this, and I’m sitting right next to the window with the fan in it).

This is truly a WHOLE-HOUSE window fan, and it costs so much less to operate than an air conditioner. Compared with central A/C, I’m saving over a hundred dollars a month, which is over $600 a year EVERY YEAR.

That’s money better spent elsewhere! With this high-volume fan, I get my whole house cooled, without the $150+ monthly electricity usage of central A/C. This fan paid for itself in the first month. Also, I’ve found that as I’ve gotten used to not having A/C, I enjoy the summers more and I’m not nearly as lethargic and short-tempered when I’m in a place without air conditioning, anywhere from the supermarket parking lot to a cookout.

It all makes me wonder, WHY would I pay $150+ per month and end up so dependent on air conditioning that I can’t be happy enjoying the great outdoors in the summer?! It’s all a question of what your body gets acclimated to.

For the hottest summer nights, you can run a little window A/C unit in your bedroom, and still save a bundle because you can use this fan for the rest of the house instead of having to pay the skyrocketing electrical cost of central A/C.

had to tighten up the screws under it and then put a dab of Krazy Glue on it (but that solved it)* Not widely available in stores – because air conditioners’ prices have come down so much in the last 15-20 years, the demand for genuine whole-house window fans has gone way down, meaning that this fan is usually a special-order or online-only item, either of which generally entail waiting times and shipping costs (though your local Grainger branch may have one of the ones relabeled Air King in stock)—–All in all, I am being really unfairly picky here, and I think this is a fabulous product that I sincerely hope doesn’t get discontinued.

It’s the right unit for the job, it looks good, and it does a better (and quieter) job that the all-metal models from years past. It’s also very energy-efficient. Of what’s available on the market in 2009, it is the best of the best, hands down, nothing else even comes close.

I have ZERO “buyer’s remorse” about this purchase, and would champion its virtues to anyone considering buying one. A great product!.

When it comes to larger sized window fans, especially ones with the “storm guard” feature that allows you to open and close the window in front of the fan without having to remove and reinstall it, there are not many offerings.

There is the Lasko 2155 and a couple of similar units from Air King. The Lasko 2155 moves a pretty good amount of air, but is a bit loud on the high setting for both intake and exhaust. It is also constructed a bit cheaply: complaints about the flimsy selector knob are indeed true.

In fact,I keep mine set to medium exhaust and plugged into a switchable power strip to turn it on and off just to avoid wear and tear on the setting selector knob. Also, be advised: it does easily accomodate all styles of windows.

If you have newer replacement windows with a grip handle lip that protrudes from the bottom of the window, this lip may not clear the safety cage at the front of the fan blades. I had to set the fan back a couple of inches so the window grip handle cleared and this required me to add wood strips to the window frame so the fan could be properly mounted.

If you have older style windows without the protruding lip at the bottom, it will be easier to mount to the sill and frame. Overall it is a decent fan but you may have to do some above and beyond work to get it to fit depending on your window style.

Even then, it’s not too much trouble, and if no modifications are needed, it is pretty easy to install.

I measured before purchasing and the dimensions are in line with what is stated, fits as expected. I use this fan several hours a day, every day. It worked great for a couple of weeks, then started to get noisy on low speed.

I started using medium and high speed, but within another week it barely works anymore. It hums loudly and squeaks. Obviously the bearings are dry of lubricant and can’t find a way to lubricate anything without taking it apart.

For the price of this fan, it should last several years, this thing only lasted 3 weeks. Avoid the hassle and just don’t buy!.

This fan is quieter than I expected after reading the reviews here. It’s also bigger than I expected — it completely fills my regular-size Craftsman-style bungalow window — I didn’t mount it, I just set it in the window and closed the sash to hold it in place.

It’s pretty light and easy to move around, and the power cord is plenty long. The three settings are great. On low, it creates a pleasant breeze. On high, it moves a fair amount of air. It has cooled the house off every night (daytime temps in the low ~90 F, coolest night time temp low 70 F).

I was hoping it would move even more air, but it does the job. As for noise, it makes the same amount of noise as other big fans I’ve owned. I have to turn the TV up a bit when the fan’s running, but nothing major.

My only complaint about this fan is that the control knob is hard to turn and it’s very smooth, so I couldn’t get a good grip on it to turn the fan on or change the settings. I put a small diameter, wide rubber band around it (like the rubber band that comes on a bunch of broccoli) and that fixed the problem.

(I’ve including a photo of the rubber band on the knob. ) Without that rubber band, I would have a hard time changing the setting of the fan, especially if my hand was sweaty. Lasko should consider replacing the current knob with one that’s easier to grip.

Because some reviewers complained about the bearings seizing up after the first year, I decided to get the 4-year extended warranty. Hopefully I won’t have to use it, but it gives me peace of mind.

Just the other day I came home from work. I parked my car in the garage. I opened the door inside the garage which leads into my kitchen. There was a terrible smell in the kitchen possibly coming from the trash can.

I threw away the trash. I lit a scented candle. Lastly, I turned on this Comfort Zone CZ310R fan. The main purpose of this Comfort Zone CZ310R fan is to sit inside a window; however, the fan also includes feet which can be attached for using the fan on a tabletop.

I placed the fan on a tabletop near my trash can. I used the circulation option which causes the blades on the dual fans to move in opposite directions for improved air distribution throughout the kitchen.

I cannot wait until summer time to install this Comfort Zone Reversible Twin Window Fan to cut down on the use of air conditioning. The instructions are easy to understand. There are two accordion foldouts on either end of the fan so that you can adjust the length to fit your window.

It comes with bug screens in case you don’t have window screens. It is lightweight, compact and full of features. There are three modes. The cool mode brings air in. The exhaust mode blows air out. The circulate mode allows one fan to be in the cool mode and the other to be in exhaust mode.

The fan has three motor speeds (low, medium, and high velocity) and it is very quiet. What I like most is that this fan has a remote control.

The fan functions as advertised. 1600sf two-story home and the fan pulls in air very very well on exhaust and intake settings. Installed upstairs and it even pulls in air from downstairs kitchen patio door, living room windows and den window on low power.

Noise level on low is as low as most any fan of this size. Medium and high can get extremely loud, nearly as loud as a very small bi-plane. The fan moves more than enough air on low for my needs so medium and high noise is of no concern to me.

Easy to install. I bought a piece of foam to wedge between the window and the fan gap to further stabilize the fan to eliminate squeaks. I just remove the small piece of foam and close the window when the fan is not in use.

I left enough of a gap between the fan and window so that my shade can still be drawn normally. I am very pleased with this fan.

This is a pretty good product. It’s a fan, so not terribly noisy, but you wouldn’t want it in your home office window. It does move a tremendous amount of air. This is a valid, whole-house fan, with ease of installation it’s main advantage over one in the attic.

I had been looking for one to install up there, but didn’t relish the idea of crawling around up there at 65. This is an alternative that works very well. So far it’s lived up to it’s promise. I highly recommend.

This is quiet compared to other fans its size, but really isn’t quiet. It’s just not very noisy. However, this fan creates great airflow in my 1300 sq ft home. I like that with just a turn of the dial, you can go from exhaust to bringing air in.

No removing and flipping the fan in the window. It is a solid fan, weighing in about 35 lbs. And it is powerful. Frankly, it’s a great value. The fan is phenomenal.

We don’t have A/C here in Northern Idaho and it gets extremely hot up here in June, July and August. However, no matter how hot it gets in the daytime it cools to the 50’s and 60’s at night. I wanted to take advantage of the cool night air so I Googled “extremely powerful window fan” and the Air King 9166 appeared on my tablet.

I read the reviews and watched the videos and had read that Venting Direct had great service and easy returns if I didn’t like the product. So, I ordered the Air King late one Friday night and Monday afternoon it was sitting inside my gates waiting for me, plus the shipping was free! I picked it up to put it in the truck and realized this is not some cheap plastic fan from Walmart, it’s all metal, it’s heavy and it is all business.

I took it in the house and opened the box, this beast is all assembled except for the storm guard panels. There are 2 options to install it, inside the window or on the window sill. It is VERY important that you measure your window before you order it and pay attention to the measurements listed on the product.

I had already measured my window and opted for window sill installation before I ever ordered it, so be prepared for how you want to install it. 15 minutes later I was ready to fire it up. I mentioned before, this is serious equipment, it is a large metal fan and it makes noise.

I cracked all the windows and turned it on high exhaust. Holy heck! I had forgot to move the curtains all the way over and they were standing straight out from the air flow, no joke. In 5 minutes it had cleared all the hot stale air out of the house.

I then turned it over to high intake and in an hour we were sitting here freezing, had to turn it off! Mission accomplished, turns out I only run it from about 7:00pm to 11pm because it absolutely freezes us out.

Of course depending on where you live, layout of your home and proper placement of the fan, results will vary. I can tell you there are several keys to making this happen. Make sure you place the fan in a large common room so it can push or pull the maximize amount of air through the home.

This is not a bedroom fan, it’s big, powerful and loud. Also I found once it’s installed I used some window insulation to cover the holes in the storm guards and between the fan and the window, this helps dramatically.

It is also very important to not use the fan without another window in the house being at least cracked open. It pulls/pushes air so forcefully it struggles without having somewhere to push or pull the air to.

I would imagine it would burn out quickly if you don’t give it air flow. In closing, this thing is a brute and is not some little quiet fan, it flat out gets after it! It’s a great product and highly recommended it.

I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING TO PULL CIGAR SMOKE AND HEAT OUT AND UP THORUGH THE UPSTAIRS WINDOW AND TO GET A CROSS-CURRENT BREAZE FROM DOWNSTAIRS(my first floor) TO THE UPSTAIRS WINDOW. We have had powerful wind and rain storms almost every afternoon for the past two weeks, AND THE FAN DID NOT ALLOW ANY RAIN IN.

My only wish is for a better design for the extension fan-curtain which is included and is used to close or occupy the open space in your window around the fan to seal and better prevent insects and air etc.

I have not checked my electric bill yet and I have had the fan on continuously since I installed it. I wish it pulled air a little stronger , but for the money, I is keeping my 2nd floor cool on my house which faces West into the sun.

Box was in rough shape, and I was a little concerned at first, as it appeared it may have been used once. But after installing it, was more than satisfied with it, and happy I went with an opened box version, for the added savings on the price.

Moves plenty of air, and unlike what I read in other reviews, I did not find it to be noisy compared to any other fan I have owned. If you have larger than 27″ windows, you may want to leave the “knock out” pieces of the shroud in place at first and try it like that.

You can always take them out, but cant put them back in after.

This is a great fan if you rent and can’t install an attic fan. This moves a TON of air and what makes it better than attic fan is you can reverse at night if it’s in your bedroom and have it blow a huge about of fresh air on you all night.

I live in northeast and it brutality hot and I haven’t used my air conditioner yet because of how well this works. I found them for $150. 00 I might pay a little more for another one. That’s right this is so good I’m looking to buy another one.

Again great fan which takes 5 minutes to install.
