Great. Hoisting up mast on halyard resulted in good distance if it stays vertical. Also, used an adapter to attach to a hand held, and really improved the distance just holding it up with one hand while using the hand held with the other.

Great little spare antenna for a VHF marine radio. I use the antenna with a GPS Standard Horizon. It picks up Sea Tow radio check in the dock, WX and 16 Coast Guard. I originally purchased the antenna to trouble shoot a fault I was having with my mast antenna.

Downside – it’s and expensive accessory to have in the off chance you’ll need it.

I needed a temporary antenna and this works great. My unit receives AIS and the signals come through W/O issue.

When my old antenna got damaged at the auto repair shop, I decided to upgrade to this antenna. My previous antenna was a single band 2-meter antenna and worked very well but I needed a dual band to compliment my new mobile radio.

This is a super antenna. Short enough to be unobtrusive but long enough to provide plenty of gain. I am now able to “hit” our UHF repeater over 30 miles away. VHF performance is equal to or better than the old dedicated 2-meter antenna I previously was using.

I highly recommend the Diamond NR770HBNMO antenna for both VHF and UHF mobile use.

I have two of these. One chrome and this one, black. Both function as 5/8 wave antennas. Plus: For FM this is a “high power” performer. Its wide band and needs no tuning out of the packaging though you can tune it if you want to, I don’t see any reason to do so.

The instructions are clear its pretuned at the factory and recommends leaving it there. Its got extremely good gain on receive, and on transmit it gets your signal out there. SWR’s are very close to 1:1:1 – 1:5:1 on most frequencies, only noticed an anomaly at the high end of Amateur 70cm band where it exceeded 1.

5:1 a tad. Works well with a mag mount with no discernible difference in SWR’s. Am switching between magmount and lip mount. I’m going to guess that the base of the antenna isn’t so much a loading coil as it is a matching network to achieve the kind of results you get.

I’d hate to throw money away to tear one apart to see what’s inside, so I’ll stick with guesswork. Drawbacks: Its about almost 4 feet tall so it rides on the trunk rather than on the roof. That affects the transmission pattern.

Using an Signal Strength meter around the periphery of the vehicle at VHF the pattern is more signal going out from the trunk rearward than forward. So if you want to point signal North you have your hood pointed South, At 70cm it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference due to the nature of UHF.

Some hams buy the PL-259 style mount to use it with a separate ground plane kit as a base antenna.

I like this antenna! I use a mag mount on top of the car roof, and previously had a Larsen 2/70 dual band antenna there. This Diamond antenna does not require a ground plane, so it seems to work much better using the mag mount.

I am very happy with the noticeable improvement in signal strength in poor reception areas. It’s a bit pricy, but in comparison to others, not too high, and for its performance it is highly recommended!.

I have no complaints as of so far. I mounted this antenna on a 37 telescopic tower. I just have a Baofeng HT hooked you it right now, but my Rx is a hundred times better. My Tx is also way better as well.

I can hit repeaters that I couldnt even hear before.

Using it for a mobile dual band antenna for cross band repeater, for events such as marathons, Triathlons, etc. Mounted on a flagpole mount on my receiver hitch, tested it today, works good. Field test next weekend.

Good quality product. Don’t forget to ground it, for even better reception.

Let me preface by saying that I’m roughly 60 air miles from two major cities. Had a Winegard HD7694P (jack of all trades but master of none) for a couple of years a while it wasn’t bad, it didn’t do all that great all the time and certainly wasn’t good for high band VHF (the main channels I wanted out of that thing were 11 & 13 but would only get them in the best of conditions).

Long range UHF wasn’t even that great either unless it was the perfectly cool, calm, clear day. Especially noticed how bad it really was when I used it with my TiVo Bolt to record OTA broadcasts (had frequent cutouts plus the tuner is a little on the weaker side if I must say).

Bought this bad boy along with a STELLAR LABS 30-2370 and get practically everything that I wanted from both cities. Kind of have them pointed 30 degrees away from each other because the UHF I wanted from the one city was more important and the VHF from the other was needed.

I do pick up UHF from both cities despite the 2370 is super directional, just not some of the weaker ones that I don’t care about. All in all I get around 60 strong channels. Will note that this antenna doesn’t seem to be extremely directional as the 30-2370 seems to be, but does need to be aimed for best results.

Have them both combined into a RCA preamp which has separate UHF and VHF inputs (obviously this one plugged into the VHF input). Rock solid preamp that I’ve been using for a few years now (I just had it in combined mode before now).

Both of these Stellar Labs antennas are mounted on the same mast attached to my chimney and are about 6′ apart with the 2370 on top. Don’t seem to interfere with each other. Also have them both angled up a little.

Messed with that adjustment a bit but it doesn’t seem to make too much difference. Can’t go wrong with this antenna for this price. Sorry I didn’t do any testing of this antenna for UHF, but I’m sure it may pick up stronger ones, especially if they’re close.

But with the element lengths, it looks like it’s tuned specifically for high band VHF only.

I paired this VHF with a bow tie 8 Bay UHF I had already. I’m 50 miles from the WFAA tower. All TV stations in DFW broadcast from one location more or less. This spring the reception for 8 degraded but adding this antenna in parallel brought it back.

I also use a remote amplifier on the mast. The joint for the extension section is a little loose, so make sure your antenna stays straight after assembling it.

Antenna improved my VHF reception significantly in a fringe area 50 miles from towers and surrounded by trees. Placed in the attic of single story house and still receiving adequate signal. Would recommend if you are needing better VHF reception.

I just installed this so I can’t comment on longevity and long term performance, but reception signal is as good as with the previous eight foot antenna. Now I can leave the antenna up for bridges over Cape Coral canals, and no fear that the antenna mount might break due to flexing in rough water.

The installation is simple thanks to the two part connector. The cable has a narrow connector that is easy to fish to the VHF. It simply screws into the piece that then is attached to the VHF antenna input.

No soldering or crimping required. Also, the price was the lowest I could find and the delivery was prompt. Great deal all around!.

Extremely happy with antenna. It performs well. Not an expert so I can’t give specific comparisons to other brands but it does give me nice clear reception. More importantly, it comes with a cable connector already installed so I did not have to solder any connectors on.

It is a mini connector so it fit through the hole already in my T-Top and there is an adaptor provided that goes on to connect to the radio. Installation was simple.

Easy installation! Haven’t actually tried the Tx/Rx functionality yet!

This is my second one but it works out real well on my Sundance skiff which is a 17 footer . I am definitely hard on equipment and most likely would be perfect for a normal boater

I like the full stainless base. This is replacing the Shakespeare 36″ Antenna with the half stainless and plastic base, which broke for unknown reasons. Of course nothing lasts for ever, the old antenna was 10 yrs.

The Shakespeare 5104 4′ Centennial VHF Antenna is elegant and practical. The cable is hard wired to the antenna, but there’s some work (soldering) involved to attach the PL-259 connector (included) to the cable.

I purchased a PL-259-CP-G connector to avoid soldering. My mechanic preferred soldering because the connection is cleaner and it works like a charm. Good value, just need to get over the PL connector challenge.

Bought this antenna to replace an 8ft one that I busted on a low bridge. It works great and while the range isn’t as good as the 8ft obviously I can still get 2-3 miles non line of sight with it and the low output setting on a standard horizon marine radio (the guy I bought the boat from used it on the great lakes, I use it on the mississippi river so we’re never that far from a marina/land/other boats).

\ The only pitfall is the connector isn’t attached (while aggravating its a good thing because you can fish the antenna wire through much smaller openings in your boat). I used a Shakespeare PL-259-CP-G Marine Center Pin Connector which only requires a pair of pliers to crimp onto the cable end rather than the enclosed one which requires cable stripping, soldering etc.

Overall works great and would purchase again.

I replaced the original Shakespeare 5206-N with a new one, since I snapped it off when I hit a tree with the boat on the trailer. Next time I’ll remember to put the antennae down before moving. This antennae work just fine.

I use it on inland lakes in Utah (some being 50 miles long (Flaming Gorge & Lake Powell). I haven’t had any problems with reception. Works like a charm for an inexpensive antennae. Might not have huge ranges on the ocean, but it serves the purpose I need it for.

Had a new VHF stowed that I never took out of the box. Bought a new boat and decided to use it. When checking the catalog online, they always show what’s in stock at my store so I don’t have to waste a trip.

This has not been the case with other stores that show they have it. You run down and nothing there.

This is my third Shakespeare 8′ vhf marine antenna. (One on an old boat that broke while raising it, the second broke when I bumped an overhead while re-fueling and now this one. ) The recv/trans quality is pretty good but the one major draw back is how fragile it is.

If you bump it on any low overhead obstacle it will easily break where the fiberglass meets the metal at the base. I don’t feel that it would be cost prohibitive for Shakespeare to thicken the fiberglass at the base where it connects to the metal.

The costs could be lower for such a fragile antenna, but I would not venture off shore without some kind of 8′ antenna.

Looking for a good durable and affordable dual band antenna, it does have some gain, but it’s not a 5/8 wave, the tram 1181 fills the bill. these are very affordable antennas-around $15-20. unity gain on vhf, and 2.

5db gain on uhf. pre-tuned for the 2m/70cm ham bands. the build quality is good on the nmo base, and the antenna itself is pre-tuned and ready to use. antenna itself is good quality heavy type black coated metal stinger that handles at least 50 watts, as that is what i’m running thru it.

i own 2 of these units and they are broad banded and work just fine for local area repeaters and simplex stations. i haven’t had any problems or issues with either of mine. one is on the car, the other one i’m using on a base kit for a simplex repeater, also running 50 watts.

looking for something that works for your portable or mobile, and don’t, or might not want longer 5/8 wave, and want a lower price too, be sure and check this antenna out. think you’ll be happy and surprised at it.

i was. be great to have an extra one just to have ready in a go bag, or an extra to put on a mag mount on a friends car if going out with them and they don’t have an antenna, quick antenna on a second vehicle your own.

i like my units. and for the price, can’t beat it, with capabilities for both bands-pre-tuned and low swr. i checked mine and that was all i did–didn’t touch or even think about any slight adjustments to it.

was that good! i’m sure these will last for many years for me and do just fine. really nothing to go bad or wrong on them. nice black finish on antenna and the nmo mount. give them a look.

Great low profile dual band antenna. I installed this on my 2013 Prius using the TRAM NMO trunk lip mount and it works great, despite being on the corner of the roof of the car. I did bend the element slightly to keep it vertical since the mount is on the sloping part of the hatch.

Overall, a very good antenna for the money. We’ll see how it holds up over time. I still have some 20+ year old mobile antennas that still work!.

When it comes to vhf n uhf I like to have every ounce of power to the antenna. I precision cut the coax so it has less than a half watt of reflective power. This antenna tuned great on the 2 meter band with less than a half of a watt reflective.

However, the lowest reflective power on the 70cm band was 5 watts.

Our group has this excellent antenna. Every new antenna we get for GMRS radio use we always test tit’s SWR and this antenna is the only GMRS antenna that never needs tuning right from the factory! We almost use the Mag mount and put on the center of the roof and that’s it! You just can’t go wrong with this antenna! We help a few Farmers set up their GMRS radios and this is one antenna we suggest almost all the time.

Excellent for grain bin mounting! Farmers find GMRS radio to be a real time saver in the field and way better then a CB radio, Just add a Midland USA GMRS radio and let the fun begin!.

This is the 2nd MXTA26 I’ve purchased! The first was for the MXT400 and this one for my new MXT500. I prefer these 6db antennas, over a standard GMRS antenna because they provide a noticeable improvement for receiving weak signals.

They can ALWAYS hear me because of my radio’s output power, but without the MXTA26, I can’t hear them. Completely happy!.

The antenna provided me a flexible, serviceable, and priced right option for my Jeeps GMRS radio needs. The antenna design allows it to flex as we are driving in the northeast woods without me worrying if it would break.

I have found it provides a clear signal at a greater distance then my past setup on the Jeep. I was concerned the flex design would cause the paint to crack like may past antenna from another company but no sign of cracking.

I recommend the product and will purchase another one for my second vehicle. Thank for making a great product!!.

I am sure it is a great antenna, but the two piece description is a little misleading. Yes the top and bottom screw apart, but you cannot separate them as the transmission cable has no connector to enable you to do so.

If you need total separation as I did you need the slightly more expensive 6018-R Phase III.

This antenna worked so well I bought another. Paired with my Icom 2730 works very well with low SWR. Mounted on truck & car using the comet uhf mag mount. Also used with a GRMS mobile and it works fine, very happy with product & DXE prompt delivery.

I bought this and mounted it on a drill NMO mount in the middle of my trunk on an Audi A6. 1. 04 swr on VHF, 1. 05 on UHF, and 1. 07 on GMRS. Would highly recommend this antenna and would recommend buying from DXEngineering even more.

As a repeater builder for over 20 years, reliabile performance has always been at the top of my list. Accordingly I have been buying Comet brand base station & mobile antennas, diplexers and never been disappointed.

Mobile antennas can liva a hard life; the CA-2X4XR antenna is ruggedly built and its radiated & SWR performance is very good. Highly recommend.

I took the time to tune this antenna to work on these two frequencies and got 1. 25 swr at 152,000 Mhz and 2. 00 swr at 465,000. In the frequency of the whole band of two meters 1. 00 swr. In 70 centimeters I got 1.

90 swr. In the frequency 500 Mhz 1. 5 swr. Where better tuned was with all parts of the antenna full inputs. My conclusion is that it is not possible to do the tuning with this antenna for these two frequencies at the same time.

If you are looking for an antenna for the frequency 151. 820 Mhz (Swr 1. 25) and at the same time have 144 and 148 Mhz (Swr 1. 00) this is the perfect antenna.

This antenna has excellent propagation qualities. It is nearly flat on both bands and on all power levels (5w to 45w on my radio) with nothing greater than a 1. 3 VSWR (this is better than published for me).

It is mounted on the roof of my Nissan Frontier with a mag-mount NMO. Have had great reports on it from other hams on Simplex. I got it because my other antenna didn’t have the greatest receive. There is a big difference on RX for me, which is good.

Also, according to my antenna analyzer, it tunes up almost flat on 222 MHz as well. nice surprise there.

I had a quad band antenna installed, but realized I only really needed VHF and UHF for what I do. So I decided to try out this antenna. This antenna arrived and the first thing I noticed is how well built the antenna felt.

The materials just felt superior to the quad band antenna I had. It was slightly shorter than my quad band, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. To my surprise simplex range operation on UHF went from 3 miles to almost 7 miles (intermittent with static at 7 miles).

It significantly extended my range. I may buy another one of these to stick in my building, because it worked that good. I haven’t had a chance to test VHF operation, just UHF. Love this antenna!.

This is an OK solution for the commuter, public service event operator, etc. It’s easy to deploy and stow. It’s small. Provided you ensure good grounding of the mount to the car body and connect body panels with grounding strap if needed, it will swiftly seek and find a match.

When paired with the Yaesu FT-100, FT-747, FT-857/897, or FT-450. It will initially go up or down as appropriate and run a full cycle if it fails to recognize a match, before retracting and ending the search.

It can also be manually tuned using UP/DOWN soft buttons on those Yaesu rigs (or with other rigs via the MFJ controller); do this when a particular frequency presents a complex match autotune passes by because of very high Q.

With several feet of wire clipped to the stinger clip and run to a tree limb or other temporary termination point via an end insulator, it’s possible to load the antenna on 80M, though not efficiently.

Downsides: When they fail due to mechanical issue, they’re very hard to repair. The biggest problem is re-assembly. The motor does not have much torque and there are a few tiny ball bearings that must be in strategic places.

The control board is about the size of a thumb (tip to wrist). The antenna is relatively sturdy but can be dented. Although this ad says it was in marine use, Yaesu does NOT warrant this antenna as waterproof and advises not to leave it mounted or even use it in the rain! The stinger is not uncommonly lost when vehicle is traveling at high speeds.

Only an OEM replacement stinger will fit without grinding down its base, making it prone to breakage. This product is not intended for marine use and I would not recommend it for that purpose except as a hobby accessory not to be relied upon as the primary emergency communications/distress antenna.

Many DX contacts can be made as it true with most antennas when conditions are favorable but this is NOT an efficient radiator at any frequencies other than VHF/UHF. I used one of these on two vehicles a Audi station wagon and a ’95 Aerostar when sunspots were plentiful, on 2500 mile round-trip vacations including ice and snow, and made numerous QSOs with Russia, Europe, and all of the U.

S. I did eventually lose the stinger, and later the antenna stopped working properly when an internal nylon threaded disc stripped out. I was rather appalled by the cheap and non-resilient construction upon disassembling the antenna, which was out of warranty.

Reassembly was really a bear, and the antenna failed again due to worn parts a free weeks after repair and reassembly. If these limitations are acceptable to you, you can get a lot of enjoyment from this antenna.

But honestly, if you want something that is built for the rigors of on-road & off-road mobiling, is weather resilient, waterproof, strongly supported by its manufacturer years after purchase, that is quite efficient for its type, that has no exterior moving parts and that is suitable for marine use and permanent mounting, and that covers the full HF spectrum (some models down to 2 MHz and up to 6m), that will easily provide 20 years of service and will be inexpensive repaired by its maker if it ever fails, and is so reliable that versions of it are even used on Navy submarines, then you’d be much happier with a Hy-Q antenna product.

True, the price is 1. 5 to 2 times higher, but it’s one you can always count on. Again, this ATAS will serve your needs within the scope of its limitations, which is why I gave it 3 stars. 73 de WA7VTD/WQJX-338.

I have seen other reviews online knocking this antenna system. It’s really hard for me to understand why. I have one paired mobile with my FT-891 and it works flawlessly. I get Brazil from Texas easily on 20m.

Yes of course, it’s not going to be the BEST for 40m but that’s OK with me. I prefer a shot at DX while driving, I can look for 40m more easily at home. I enjoy the pair so much that I just bought another to put up as a base station with the base kit to pair with my FT-991A just for another option where I’ll use a duplexer for a real “shack in a box” setup.

I would recommend this antenna for Yaesu compatible radios.

I have the ATAS 120A connected to the Yaesu FT991A. It is mounted to my steel balcony grill with the Diamond K400 tunk and hatch back mount. I find the tuning to be impecise, I have seen the antenna rotate as it tunes under power, minimize the SWR to over 3, and continue to rotate to the end of travel.

Then I try to retune and it just sits and the minimum height point and does nothing for a long while. Then it trys to retune again. I was going to call DX tech support. Yaesu needs a firmware update in the 991A to improve.

One option would be to note when it hits a minimum SWR to slow down and fine tune, then activate internal tuner of radio. I have manually stopped the motor by pressing tune again when SWR was close to 3, and then use internal radio tuner.

Other hams say this is a good mobile antenna. I have yet to put it on my Volvo wagon, but expect to try soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ps. I have a high noise level.

I was out 20 miles in the GOM and had crystal clear communications with the coast guard to notify them of engine malfunction. This was a replacement for the same antennae that lasted about 10 years. In fact, I installed the new one myself and the reception was much better.

The dealership that installed the previous radio really did a hack job, did not solder the connection and left a tangle of wire under the CC. Installation is really simple if you can follow a cook book.

This antenna is well constructed and high professional quality equipment. Do be aware one end of the cable does not have the fitting attached. This allows you to route in through a small hole in the bulkhead without having to cut off the end or drill an oversize hole.

I’ve had the Tram 1180 for a couple of years. It does the job well and has not weathered perceptibly in the time I’ve had it on the car. The structural wire is pretty thin but I’ve not had any problems on that account.

I’ve run into the garage door a few times and bent it over with no lasting effect though I do wish it were a bit more stout in the bottom section just to minimize the rocking action under some driving conditions.

Since it is dual-band, it is more troublesome to tune since you have to go back and forth to find the minima for both bands but you can get a very low SWR on both 70cm and 2m if you persist. It has held up at 50W but I can’t testify to anything beyond that power level.

If I were buying for my other car I’d get another.

Gain is similar to my JETSTREAM JTM3BM that does not have a load and is the same cost. Might be better to go with the MFJ design as its a simpler. I tested this antenna and my MFJ 3BM mag mount in my walk out basement with them mounted horizontally on some metal wall cabinets.

Signal strength was 30 over for both from a VHF repeater 3 miles away. Rx S meter showed 40+ on my MFJ 1480 outside. I’d say this antenna works pretty good.

This is my third 1180 antenna. It has < 1. 3:1 SWR on both 2 meters and 70 cm. It is a well built durable mobile antenna that with a ground plane can also serve as a temporary portable antenna. The NMO mounts makes installation and removal quick and easy.

What a neat little thing! The antenna seems to be adequately built for the price, and also has great SWR! I wouldn’t expect an antenna this cheap to hit below 1. 5 SWR but this actually surprised me! I found that this antenna gets 1.

1 to 1. 4 SWR across the 2M band and similar results on the 70cm band. It is very flexible too. I have this mounted on my 1991 chevy about 2 ft in front of my standard FM radio aerial, and this guy is sometimes bent so far back while i’m driving that is gently taps the FM aerial.

Actually, I should probably move it forward a bit so I don’t accidentally blow out my radio with the high RF. I recommend this antenna for anyone trying to get on the air quickly and cheaply. I may update this post when I get a few contacts.

The only problem is the lower rod is too small in diameter. The whole antenna wanders around as I drive. I have some bigger rod. I may drill out the base and center load to accept the larger rod. What a way to save on material! Add $3 to the price and have the Chinese use bigger stock.

The gain on UHF is less than a 1/4 wave spike because the antenna won’t stand straight up driving 70 mph. I will give you a + on feedback, but won’t encourage anyone else to buy one. I will probably give it to a fellow ham.

I gave it 5 star rating because the product works very well for the price paid. Although I was a little disappointed in how flexible the antenna wire is. It doesnt seem cheap but it is real flexible and moves around quite a bit if you drive rough roads.

You can notice a slight bit of fluctuation in receiving if its really whipping around but is not a deal breaker! So all in all I am happy.

Although I wish the old Antenna Specialist Company was still around (they made some of the best antenna products). As a ham I have been using Larsen antennas for decades. They are a no buyers remorse product.

They are known to be used commercially (Police, Fire, EMS, Taxi, Public Works etc. ). Rarely do you see Comet, Diamond, and other known amateur radio antenna products used in rugged environments. I got a new vehicle and knew I had to poke another hole in the roof so I just bought another Larsen NMO 2/70B.

If you have a less than optimal installation location such as below roof line, this 1/2 wave antenna is the one to get. Even mounted low, the SWR is 1:1 – 1. 3:1 across the 2 meter band. Highly unusual but the numbers don’t lie.

70cm is slightly higher but not enough to justify adjustment. Also works quite well on receive on the air band when nothing else is going on. Highly recommend for no ground plane installations.

Very good gain, and the whip is tough as nails. I have one on my motorcycle, and I’ve never had trouble with it, even after dropping the bike, which bent the whip 45 degrees. I took it out of the base coil, bent it straight, put it back in and kept on going, no problem.

Put some Loctite on the screws that secure the whip in the base coil. They can vibrate loose, I found.

Stila was the first high end makeup brand that I ever tried. Typically I love their foundations, concealers, etc. however this time was a miss for me. I bought tinted moisturizer for the summer time just something that would give me a light coverage but still let my natural tan still show through.

I liked the fact that I had SPF in it so I got a little protection when I was outside. It also has a bit of a sunscreen scent which I personally don’t mind, but may bother some. My issue with this product is that it does not come in a large variety of colors, so I went with the lightest shade.

It completely washed me out! And there definitely was a noticeable color difference between my face and my neck. Unfortunately this was not the tinted moisturizer for me; there was way too much coverage and not enough shades to choose from to get what I wanted.

I have a very hard time finding a foundation that truly matches my skin tone because I have a true olive undertone no makeup company makes a color that has an olive undertone. You either have to go with a lighter color that has a warm undertone or a darker color that has a cool or neutral undertone, but it’s never perfect.

Luckily enough because I take very good care of it, I have very good skin so I don’t need a heavy foundation (although it is nice to have one for special occasions when there’s going to be professional photography so, makeup companies, get on it) and I’m able to use tinted moisturizer, and I love them.

They’re light enough that it doesn’t feel like I have makeup caked on my face, but they have enough color that it evens out any discoloration I have gives me a flawless finish. This has always been my favorite, and I’ve been wearing it forever which is why I’ve used both this one which was the original formula original packaging as well as their new one with 20SPF that I still love!.

Love it! Perfect for a natural makeup look. Good for daily everyday makeup routine. Protects and hydrates my skin. Never really tried any stila products before and this is my first time but I’m loving it! Would repurchase.

The reason I give it a 4 out of 5 stars is that sometimes, I feel tingling sensation on the product. I don’t know if that is normal or what. But overall, I did like it.

I purchased this antenna a few weeks ago. The day I installed the antenna I called out for a radio check. I got a response from someone 35 miles away from my location. Finally last week I took my boat out onto Lake Erie.

The antenna did not disappoint. I called one of my boating friends who was 25 miles away. They heard me and responded. While crossing the lake I was listening in to both sides of a conversation that was happening 37 miles from my location.

The performance of this antenna does not disappoint at all.

I had to buy a new antanae recently for my Trophy fishing boat because of my own failure to lower the original 8 ft ear which was snapped by a tree branch. This new one is replacing one that was on since 1994 so materials and technology is much superior to the original.

Installation was easy because holes and mounting gear already in place. Signal is clear. Pricey but at what cost is your safety worth? More than the price of this thing for sure.

The Sheakespeare 8900 is an amazing Marine VHF Antenna. Reception is clear and signal is solid! Your VHF radio is only as good as the antenna that is transmitting. I went the extra cost due to the fact that I don’t nickel and dime safety when time might play a factor in an emergency situation.

Very happy over my purchase and pleased with the gold plated connector! I also like the thickness of the antenna. Very durable and quality made. Also, remember to get a Free MMSI # at BoatUS and program it into your VHF as well as connecting your VHF to your chartplotter!.
