12 Best Vintage Jvc Receiver (2022 Updated)

I installed in a 1st gen Sequoia easily. The system works flawless. I had just bought a Blaupunkt of the same model year but it was junk compared. This one does everything you want a head unit in 2020 to do.

Apps, HD radio, CD, DVD, USB, Aux, Bluetooth. The power off is hidden (2 steps to get there) but works easily and has somewhat modifiable buttons (not power).

Got this unit at a discount and it was brand new in the box. Sounds good in my 1990 4runner. Bluetooth handsfree for phone is great. That is the main reason I bought it. New law in affect.

This unit has a lot to offer at a reasonable price, I am very happy with the unit overall and JVC is a reliable well known brand. It offers a lot of bang for your buck, I would highly recommend.

I’m coming at this review from the standpoint of my career as an audio engineer where the one must develop a pronounced, instinctive response to quality problems present in an audio source. In the case of the JVC KD-R330, I was immediately struck by the complete absence of any irritating or annoying audio attributes.

For an audio product at this price range, it was a complete surprise and a very pleasant one. When the EQ section is in the default setting, the sound is well defined, clean and free of fatiguing resonances with a frequency balance that is surprisingly smooth and neutral.

Music is satisfying and well represented and speech is clean and clear. That said, the lowest of the bass frequencies are a little lean, but this is far better (for my tastes) than the typically “hyped,” and acutely overstated bass response found in most contemporary car audio systems.

There is however, a preset EQ selection that mimics the resonant and thundering “boom-box” style of audio EQ that rattles the entire neighborhood, but the KD-R330 is a little short on power for that kind of thing which makes the dynamic range collapse when the demand is high.

For those who want some small tweaks in the playback response, there is a custom EQ feature that gives users access to a multi-band EQ. While this feature a bit cumbersome to access and use, the outcome can be stored as a preset so that once you get what you want, that chore is out of the way for the life of the unit.

Given the price of well under $100, it’s hard to imagine finding something better without spending four or five times that amount. I have to give it five stars, two thumbs up, and a technological achievement award for a price to performance ratio that seems almost too good to be true.

I replaced a broken 10yr old aftermarket Pioneer radio with this one. The price was great, installation was easy. I didn’t want to install it myself, but everywhere I called, or visited, had so many poor choices.

I decided to install it myself. I am a 71 yr old female, so I didn’t want to have to bend down too far. My truck is a 1999 Ford F150, so I did have to remove the front dash cover. That was simple, used a small flat screwdriver, slight pressure in the seam, and off it popped.

Disconnected the ground cable from the battery and I was off and running. 3 wires I did not use, because my truck did not have that capability, but I still contacted JVC while in the mist of the installation.

They were great. Sounds better than my ole radio. Thank you Walmart, and thank you JVC.

I bought this radio for my older pick up for a trip to replace an indash cassette player. When I first got it hooked up I was really pleased, everything seemed to work great. In the afternoon of the first day it stopped working with a screen reading check wiring and reset, which requires removing the face and poking a toothpick sized hole, then replacing the face.

Very hard to do driving down the road and untill you reset it, of course, no sound. When we got to the first Hotel(yes we, I did not remove faceplate while driving, my wife did) I took the radio out and checked all wiring, which appears to be fine and tight.

Well after 2 more days on the road and 4 more resets, this radio is coming out. Sure I could have gotten the warrenty for another 10 bucks,but how would that have helped my 3 day trip. For the extra 10 I could have just bought a decent radio, and not have to bother with the 2 weeks of no radio shipping back and forth just to have them say its an electrical item and I must have done something wrong.

In my life so far I have installed about 15 indash radio’s for myself and almost as many for friends so I have a pretty good idea of what I’m doing. Also I did pull it out and check my work.

Instructions for installation included in package states to take item to professional radio shop to have it installed. IT does not state that on the website. Returned for less sopHisticated model that I can install myself.

All the installation instructions You get are not clear and made for professionals only. There is a 152 page online manual available, but it’s like trying to figure out the IRS tax instructions. A.

Really very simple to install. Nice features and great sound. Read instructions that come with the unit and set up is a breeze. Mic not built in for Bluetooth is only down side. Overall very happy with unit.

The Bluetooth features have update my car to the 22nd Century!! The 50w per channel puts this up with higher end units and though I won’t be winning any audio competitions, that isn’t why I bought this.

Initial settings were pretty straight forward. Some of the more complex functions will take another reading, or two, of the instructions but it is completely usable straight out to the box and into the dash.

No special installing procedures for my 1998 Eclipse. Removed the old unit, swapped wiring harness and installed new unit in a couple of hours and that was while watching Megamind!! Walmart was the best price online as well!.

Very confusing to use, not thrilled with USB/file navigation. But having the bluetooth – turning off the radio and ringing through the speakers and being able to seamlessly talk while driving is priceless as a self-employed business owner.

This in combination with a well-known, good dashboard holder for my phone made my work van a mobile office. Well worth the price. I do wish the other functions were easier to use and more user-friendly, however.

I love it, this is the best car receiver I had,it works great it has lots of cool features including bluetooth. I make and receive phone calls through the car radio, it even have a fault protecting circuit for short circuits, my car had a short circuit and the radio told me.

the deck lighting has so many colors that you can cutomize. the shipping was also fast, I am very satisfied with this car radio. I bought this JVC KD-R730BT car radio because its power output is more than an equivalent pioneer its 20w rms while the pioneer is 12w rms.

I bought this because it was a pretty cheap item, but packed with a lot of features. The Pandora and Spotify integration work really well. I like when I get into the car it will automatically load up the last app I was using.

So if I last played Pandora, it will load up Pandora automatically and start playing it so I don’t have to go through the menu and load it up manually. The interface is very customizable and works really well.

My existing backup camera worked perfectly with this unit, and actually the picture somehow looks much better. Also, my Camry steering wheel controls work perfectly with the unit, though you do have to purchase an Axxess adapter for it to work which is another $50 or so, but setup was a breeze – just wire and it works like magic.

The only couple of downsides are: The menu is pretty slow to navigate – it takes a second or two to go from one screen to another. Second, I’m not sure if it is me, but if my wife is the last one to use the car and connect her phone to the bluetooth for Pandora, etc.

The next time I drive the car, I have to manually go into the settings and tell it to play music from my phone. I would expect this if both phones were in range, but if it is just my phone in the car, why doesn’t it just automatically switch to my phone?Other than that it is a very good device and would recommend to a friend.

You get what you pay for with this radio. I’m very unhappy with the sound. My Alpine receiver that’s 9 yrs old was much better and I might switch back. The sound is now distorted and I have Kicker speakers which worked great with my Alpine.

I can’t “shuffle” songs on my ipod which I could do with my Alpine. And like I said, my Alpine is 9 yrs old, so they haven’t caught up to the technology yet I guess? I bought a Clarion rear view camera to go with this JVC and the picture is terrible, but I don’t know if it’s the Clarion camera or the screen of the receiver.

I would not recommend this product. I’d spend the extra money and get something better. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

KW-230BT as a media player it is great but the phone book feature doesn’t work well and the screen is glossy and blinds the heck out of you in the sunlight, but all the features do work. If JVC would fix the phone book issue and add an anti glare screen this would be a five-star product.

The kit seems very complete and the accessory adapter parts and cable appear to be high quality. I won’t have an opportunity to install these for several months, but it looks like this kit will work fine to replace my dying factory stereo system.

Don’t like the red lighting, though; it not only doesn’t match the factory blue/green color, it looks pretty ghetto to me and I don’t do ghetto. Unfortunately there are no other color choices, so I have to live with it.

In a 24 year-old vehicle, I can do that.

This is a high quality receiver unit. The only drawback is there is no lighting adjustment ingrained in the unit itself. Most newer units have a wire that connects to a dimmer unit. My vehicle is old enough that it has no such option without serious modification or tapping into a classic car’s wiring system.

For those who wish to have this option, you can install a “rheostat” in the line and adjust it manually, installed in a hidden location.

the stereo & adapter kit worked out well for my C5 Corvette. it sounds great & looks great with the red highlighted accents. i wish there had been more guidance about the wiring adapter & where to pick up a 12V switched connection.

at the present time i felt i had to use the constant 12V lead which means there is a chance i could forget & leave the stereo on draining the battery. just wasn’t clear on what to do about this.

Bluetooth maakt goed verbinding en vraagt tijdens de eerste keer docken om n verificatie code, dus een solide connectie gegarandeerd. Spotify valt prima te bedienen vanaf de radio, dus je hoeft niet op je telefoon te rotzooien als je naar t volgende nummer wil.

Ook telefoongesprekken voeren doet ie als geen ander. Vanaf je radio toegang tot je volledige contactenlijst en de bijgeleverde microfoon zorgt dat degene aan de andere kant van de lijn je prima verstaat.

USB ingang met een output van 1,5 amp, dus laat al je apps maar werken. Navigatie, Spotify, Bluetooth, schermhelderheid op standje schijnwerper, het kan allemaal en je smartphone laadt nog op ook. Pak je oude mapje met CD’s er ook maar bij want die speelt ie ook moeiteloos af.

Gekopieerd of origineel, het maakt niet uit. Voor alle hipsters is er een AUX ingang opgezet zodat ze hun cassettedesk of platenspeler via de headphone-input ook kunnen afspelen. De display geeft mooi rood licht af, wat dan weer fijn is als het donker is.

Geen felblauw licht wat je zicht verpest. De bediening is gebruiksvriendelijk, maar met al die mogelijkheden is het raadzaam om de handleiding even door te lezen. In de verpakking zit alleen de beknopte handleiding, maar op internet is de uitgebreide te vinden.

Frontje is afneembaar zodat niemand je mooie nieuwe radio kan pikken. Enige puntje ter verbetering is dat er geen doosje voor het frontje is meegeleverd. Maar dat is dan ook het enige. Buiten dat is dit een alles-er-op-en-er-aan-radio van uitmuntende kwaliteit en nog betaalbaar ook.

Je l’ai pris pour le bluetooth mais ce n’est pas la fonction que j’utilise le plus, et pour faire les réglages du son en conduisant c’est un peu dangereux car on doit regarder l’écran et appuyer plusieurs fois et à plusieurs endroits! mon ancien autoradio n’avait pas le BT mais on pouvait mettre la fonction alerte trafic juste avec un bouton, là ça m’existe plus! En plus il se remet en fm à chaque allumage sur une station inexistante.

l’ancien bien que moins cher se remttait automatiquement sur la denière station écoutée, ou sur le morceau de cd écouté en dernier, donc on ne recommençait pas l’album à chaque trajet. il faut recommencer le réglage à chaque démarrage, et c’est vraiment pas terrible.

Sound lässt sich perfekt an alle Fahrzeugarten und Boxentypen anpassen. Wer es übersichtlicher möchte, kann aber auch einen simplen 3 Band Equalizer nutzen. Bluetooth Kopplung mit Handies funktioniert einwandfrei und schnell.

Sobald ein Handy gekoppelt ist, lässt es sich bequem vom Radio aus steuern. Ich bin rundum zufrieden und finde den Preis für dieses Gerät mehr als fair.

I purchased this JVC stereo not expecting to have as many features like connecting my iPhone to it Im not to big of fan of that I purchased this stereo to replace an in-dash monitor that was in my car when I purchased it.

Ive owned Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer stereos but I think this JVC stereo is the best and the price is reasonable the sound is also great if you purchase the 6 1/2 and 6×9 JVC speakers to replace the stock speakers.

The radio has everything you want for less than $100. From Bluetooth, Spotify, Pandora, to Alexa from Amazon. I am truly amazed by this product. It boosts the sound performance of the factory speakers as well.

I HIGHLY recommended.

I needed a car stereo with a CD player. The JVC unit was a direct replacement for the Pioneer unit installed. It was an easy swap with the Rover 75 wiring loom provided. All that the fitter would need was a decent cross-head screwdriver and a bit of common sense.

At the price, another great JVC product, need to match unit to suitable speakers as current ones are at there limit. the screen set up is dated, have seen 2017 on the paperwork.

I bought this radio mainly for dab,it struggles to pick up stations. Got to retune every time. I bought a cheap 30 dab radio and it picked up all the stations where this radio wouldn’t,very poor. Totally don’t recommend.

can not get any sound. new speakers. Its picking up stations. Got to return it but its a lot of work to get it out of boat. package had been opened up.

It has a lot of functions. The most important though it has three sets of pre-outs for amp and powered sub.

I have bought a few of these for my customers as well as my family. This unit is easy to operate & looks great after installation. It is a super unit for the price. I & my customers are extremely happy with this product.

JVC has been my favorite radio brand for over 20 years. I have them in every personal vehicle since 1999.

Sound quality sounds really good. All the functions are really easy to use including Pandora and IHeart. Using the AUX cord to connect iphone does not effect the sound quality of this stereo. Excellent buy.

I wanted a radio with Bluetooth that would stream from Pandora to put in my wrangler. This fits the bill perfectly. Works wells sounds good ( I’m not an audiophile mind you,) and at the price if it gets ruined or stolen I won’t be heartbroken.
