20 Best Vintage Stereo System (2022 Updated)

I really like the Sharp series of stereos shelf systems. I own two of the 240W systems, and both continue to function perfectly after 8 months of use. I mistakenly purchased this model, focusing on the “mini” but failing to notice that its output is 50W total.

This product functioned as designed. I can load five discs into the trays, and the remote makes playing them easy. Equalizer options are rather limited, so I either adjust the equalizer on my device or the one on Spotify.

Only complaint? It lacks sufficient wattage. This system was made for a small office or bedroom. However, I needed a system capable of producing quality sound throughout several rooms. This system could not do it, so I returned it.

However, I still recommend it for its features and ease of use. Note: Since the 240W Sharp system is almost always sold out (as of March 5, 2022), I recommend looking at the LG 700W Stereo System as an alternate choice.

The LG system is neither small nor made to sit on a shelf. It’s bulky, chunky, relatively heavy, and best placed atop a piece of furniture. It only plays one CD, and has no cassette playback capability.

I connected my Sony 5-disc player to it, and in tandem both work without issue. The LG produces a nice, robust sound (though equalizing options are as usual limited). Nevertheless, when comparing the cost of the Sharp versus the LG, I have to recommend the LG.

I love the Sharp systems, but I wouldn’t pay more than $200 for them.

My Bose multi-CD player died on me, and I have a massive CD collection that I’m not willing to give up. Rather than pay $800 for a new Bose, I purchased this Sharp system, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

Of course, the sound cannot compare to a Bose, but it is very close. I love the built-in Bluetooth that pairs easily, so I can listen to podcasts from my cell phone. I was concerned at some reviews that mentioned you needed to buy some type of connector to use the Bluetooth, but that is not true at all, at least with this model.

I was happy, too, that this unit provides both AM and FM radio, and there is an antenna to improve the AM reception. There aren’t many stereo systems that offer AM anymore. The unit looks great, is very easy to use and sounds great.

I highly recommend.

Today’s manufacturers of electronic gadgetry tend to forget that many of us have invested heavily in old “tech” such as CDs and have huge libraries of material that we do not wish to trash, some of which is irreplaceable.

The tendency in recent years for CD changers has to been to downsize the platform size from a multi-disk to a single disk format on many radio/cd/Bluetooth etc combos. Sorry but I like to load a bunch, turn the player on and forget about reloading a CD every 45-70 minutes throughout the day.

My high-end (to remain nameless) cd disk player recently crapped out and to my chagrin, the company no longer offered nor was able to repair the unit. Much to my delight, after about a year searching, I recently found that Sharp had produced the very format that I wanted and required.

In a nutshell, I found the unit to be most satisfactory, the sound quality great for the price point, and the features radio, USB, Bluetooth, and CD are great value for the money as well. My only complaint is that I have not found a way to link my Bluetooth headphones to the unit for receiving output from the unit.

Regardless the Bluetooth feature as an input from my computer and other sources is in a word “Fantastic!”. I guess you can’t have it all. In short. this product is great value for money, and delivery from the warehouse was surprisingly fast as well!.

All in all I like this little retro radio. The sound is a little boxy but kind of retro in a way and I was not expecting Bose like fidelity anyway. I set it in an old record and phono cabinet and since the speakers are on the sides the extra reverberation actually improved the sound.

The antenna wire has to be played with for location to get the best reception. The blue tooth worked off my phone so all is good.

Very good looking radio, looks authentic vintage. AM reception is ok but not FM with the included antenna. Bluetooth volume is extremely low, although it pairs quickly and maintains good connection. Best solution is to use external powered speakers using the Audio line out output, in which case you have clear sound and clarity from the bluetooth connection.

For the money it’s a good buy but you WILL need external speakers.

The vintage look is great. The lack of tuning and poor quality sound is disappointing. I bought it to put in a guest room to add to the decor and for guests that need music to fall asleep. I probably should have returned it.

I’m happy with the versatility, the aesthetics, and the size/ weight of it, but it’s definitely lacking in quality. Good for a novice music lover/ collector (would be great for teens), who will one day want to invest in an upgrade, perhaps.

The plastic outer shell seems flimsy and as though it might break easily under a heavy hand or slight bump against a wall. The sound quality is no better than your run of the mill bluetooth speakers, and it only pairs with devices that PLAY music (phones, tablets, laptops); not with other speakers or headphones/ airbuds.

There is a headphone jack on the top, left corner (if you don’t mind being tethered to it), but no other ports or options to connect better speakers to it. I’m still happy to have a working CD player and record player again, but I can see wanting to upgrade to better quality products again one day… even if they’re not in the same all-in-one unit.

The radio is just a bonus feature to me, but it’s somewhat nostalgic, so it definitely has its charm. Signed, A Kid from the 80’s/90’s.

I was leery on purchasing this item because I couldn’t find any reviews for it or the one in red, so I took a leap of faith. I’m sure glad I did! I didn’t want to just purchase any turntable, but one that had multiple uses in a certain price range.

This stereo has great volume sound, plays cd’s, am and fm radio, hooks up through bluetooth and mp3, and plays old vinyl records in multiple sizes. The options are endless when it comes to playing music.

I bought this item for my husband for his birthday and he gives it 5 stars too. I think one of the many details he likes is that the display is bright blue and it doesn’t have an antique feel to it, but rather a classic retro rockin’ roll feel.

This item was a steal. It’s a great price and then you can use a coupon and the deal gets even sweeter. :).

Cool Gadget! This is a gift for my nephew, who just graduated! It is a nice looking, and great sounding stereo. Cool how these small speakers sound so good nowadays! The kid is taking it to college this fall.

I bought this to replace a portable radio player which wasnt very loud in the place i work. It’s a big factory with very noisy machines and this delivered. For it’s size its very loud and bass is very good.

I had to turn the bass down as other neighbouring deptartments could hear the bass thump. This was heard over the noisy machines that were measured by a sound health and safety tecnician. The machines produced noise of over 82 decibels meaning we had to wear ear protection but this didn’t trouble this bundle of joy.

When the machines were turned on the music could be heard over the noise and i had to turn the volume down if they were all stopped. I ran the music between 34-38 on the volume, i think 50 is max. Anyway after a year and a half the management have made the decision it’s too loud so i’ve had to take it home and it is now set up in my bedroom.

The added bonus of it coming home is i’m a heavy sleeper and i regularly don’t hear all my other alarms making me late often. This has an alarm or an time on function. It’s great as it’s loud enough to wake me up, only draw back is you have to set the alarm everyday but I don’t mind if it does the trick of waking me up.

Had a few issues with the usb stick not letting me use high memory usb drives so I ended up making mp3 playlists on 15 cds so the cd would run for most of the working day. Not sure about all those negative reviews put before but i love this product, thank you Panasonic.

The sound in this unit is good, but it isn’t anything to blow you away. Clear, you can hear everything good enough. Audiophiles may want to look elsewhere and also those who like bass may want to look elsewhere as it does lack a little here.

Plenty loud enough for my needs. The USB input is handy but keep in mind that it only supports MP3 files, so if you’re looking to play FLAC or other lossless files, you will have to bluetooth from your computer.

It is compact so it doesn’t take up too much space. Recommend, well yes and now, just depends exactly what you are looking for.

Outstanding CD Stereo System! Exactly what it says on the box Powerful Rich Clear Sound sounds amazing everytime I use it, very generous amount of punchy bass and heaps of sound options to choose from, and a beautiful overall quality product.

Definitely a huge thank you to Panasonic for manufacturing such a masterpiece of audio. Never been disappointed at all owning Panasonic audio equipment due to not only their build quality but audio quality also, they have really made a system like this with a music enthusiast in mind.

I ordered this because it’s advertised as 5 CD trays, but that is incorrect – don’t be fooled!! It only holds 1 CD at a time. I will keep it, but am very disappointed with the misleading information.

On the other hand, the sound is good, installation was straight-forward.

This thing has Bluetooth, nfc, usb input, pc input, sub prepout, CD drive, optical, rca, fm and am radio. With a sub attached it sound ridiculously good at this price point. Hidden gem for sure. 50watts power, I purchased an external powered sub 60 watts so it has the extra bang.

Did I mention 4ohms speakers?.

Arrived days earlier than expected. Well packed and easy to unpack. I put it together without difficulty and the size is perfect for my baker’s stand shelf. See pics. Sounds great, remote is working fine.

My last Sharps multi-disc player lasted around 16 years. I just got it, so Highly recommended for now!.

Operating instructions are not clear and laid out in a logical fashion. I suspect the instructions were written in language other than English and run through a language translator. Sound performance is average.

The “bass” is not adjustable. The “treble” is non-existent. The equalizer is a small number of presets, which I had trouble distinguishing the difference. This is a nice unit for your garage, if just having something to listen while you tinker is all you want.

Otherwise for a decent stereo system it is an underperformer.

I purchased this Audio System with NO REVIEWS as it was just being sold by Best Buy. Let me be the first review and it is five star positive !! Small size, not obtrusive but packs more than enough loud, undistorted sound.

The one negative I found is the speaker wires are way too short, very strange as for another $1. 98 an additional 25+ feet could have been included !!.

Easy to set up, good application, very good image day and night, possibility to manage activity zones and alerts. With a charging cable and a subscription there is nothing more you can ask.

Cd player NEVER worked right from the start. SCRATCHED the cd and wouldn’t open tray without help. Tape deck does not stop on its own so a risk to snapping tapes. The record player was working until I did not use it for a month and now it will not work at all.

This is a WASTE of your hard earned money. Help out your local thrift shop instead. Darn shame, Jensen is a throw away product and dishonorable brand name now.

Normally, I don’t write long reviews, but I think it will be helpful here. I call this stereo unit the “Jensen KISS”, or “Keep It Simple System”. There are things it does or doesn’t do that I hope to cover as much as possible here.

If you are looking for a big, booming/heavy bass sound in a small system, this stereo is NOT for you!!! It is a small stereo system good for a small apartment/ office/ bedroom. I was very lucky to get a stereo that worked “out of the box”, because many don’t these days.

This stereo has a turntable, CD player (playing one disc at a time), Cassette player on the LEFT SIDE of the unit, AM/FM Radio, and an Aux. input on the front for a MP3 or iPhone. The Cassette player has a “single button” for fast forward and ejecting the tape.

I am not crazy about this feature as you can’t rewind the tape, BUT I will say the sound quality is quite good, so I will overlook this as I’m not a big cassette user as I was 20 years ago. The radio worked ok.

the AM antenna is built INTO the unit, and the FM antenna is located on the back and can be strung out about six inches or so for better sound quality for FM radio listening. The CD player is single drawer unit only!! The sound is quite good.

The finish on the stereo is black “Faux Wood” and it does look quite nice. so it is silver and black, and has a classic look. We now come to the speakers and turntable. There is a diamond needle and I believe a ceramic cartridge that holds the needle in place.

(A Magnetic cartridge has a warmer sound). You will find the mid to high range of sound quite pronounced in this unit, and there is some bass, but not a great deal. even with the “Bass Boost” button on.

These are small speakers and between the ceramic cartridge and these speakers, the sound reminds me of the stereo’s we had back in the 1960’s. I’m a 60+ baby boomer, so I am used to this sound, but for someone 18-45 years old, it would probably take some getting used to! The user manual is a good one and a very careful reading of it BEFORE setting up and using the unit will keep you out of a lot of pitfalls!! YouTube also has several very helpful 2-7 minute videos that you should watch before buying the unit.

I need to add something very important here to save your speakers: There is quite a bit of volume difference between the CD, Turntable, Radio and Cassette players, so MAKE SURE you turn the volume DOWN BEFORE you use another music source!! If you don’t, you might blow the speakers as they are only 2 watts each I believe.

The only thing I can say I really am not keen about this stereo, is there is NOT a knob for volume adjustments, but push buttons! This is not too great as far as I am concerned. Also remember, the turntable is NOT fully automatic! It will stop at the end of the L.

P. but you move it back to the resting arm. I did buy this unit from Wal-Mart, and did buy the 2 yr. extended warranty for $8. 00 If you can afford to, I think it is a good idea. Very important: This unit DOES NOT do any recording.

only playback!!! If you are looking to record L. P’s or Cassettes to CD’s, this is NOT the unit you will need!!!! So in finishing: It is a good system for us older folks who want to spin the old L. P’s , and 45’s or even cassettes again and are not too fussy about the sound quality, and don’t need lots of volume.

A young person might enjoy it if they just want something in their bedroom and don’t want to drive their parents or neighbors crazy!! There is a headphone/ear bud jack in the front to help with personal listening!!!! 🙂 I Hope this info helps with your search, and good luck!!.

I purchased this particular stereo because it had every component to play the different music formats in my collection and because it’s made by Jensen. I’m very happy with this stereo. The sound quality is perfect.

I hadn’t played my vinyl records in 20 years and they sounded great. One thing to note, there IS a 45 rpm record adapter included. It’s inset into a small space in the corner behind the turntable. The unit itself is smaller than I expected, but it actually worked out better.

I highly recommend this stereo to anyone that is looking for an affordable stereo system.

Read the reviews and as this product was about the price I wish to spend! Bought it. I knew Denon was reliable brand so this helped too. My only disappointment was the set up instructions. As it was many years since I’d set a system by myself, the instructions were important.

They gave the impression that there was only one wire running from player to the speakers. You may be brighter than me but for others who have forgotten. The wires split in two and the one with the obvious red attachment fits into the read knob! Oh and the sound is great! Bought a low priced Denon turntable too for my old record collection!.

I am very impressed with the sound quality from this small of a setup. I have been using a multi component Sony set up for 20 plus years. It still sounds great, but was big and “ugly”, as my wife put it.

I had some minor issues with this Denon unit. The bluetooth connection was not working properly with my pc for Itunes library listening. That’s all been figured out now and I’m very happy with my new stereo.

Again,I am very impressed with the sound quality from this small of a setup. I would definitely recommend this to someone.

Pros: You pay good money, you get a good brand, and reliability. Had enough of cheap junk. Main unit is neat and fairly compact. The speakers do a fine job. Well pleased. If it broke tomorrow, would I buy another the same to replace it? Yes.

Cons: Don’t loose the remote. Not really a bad point, as all modern systems rely on the remote. Probably time they started using an ‘App’ – remote controls are getting to be a bit archaic are they not? I would also prefer to see a TFT display – it should be possible to get far more data on radio stations and on tracks playing, and exploit the space on a TFT screen.

Gas anode displays do have a certain retro appeal.

It’s a no brainer. I tried the Audio Technica AT-LP60 and yea I had no complaints on functionality. However, it’s the basic of basic when it comes to turntables. I may not be a turntable expert but when it came down to it’s performance, both this Victrola 370B and the AT LP-60 both felt and performed almost exactly at par.

This is where the Victrola shines over the AT LP-60: 1) The aesthetic looks. It would be quite silly to say that the AT looks anywhere close to as beautiful as the Victrola. When I walked into best buy with my girlfriend they had about 8-10 turntables out on demo, some ranging from $99 all the way to $699.

This Victrola without a question caught the eye of both of us, I couldn’t stop staring at it. I’d probably spend $100 if it was simply furniture and didn’t function, it’s THAT darn beautiful. If you’re into old looking stuff with that rich wood feel, it really is a no brainer.

When we opened the lid it just felt high quality. Like I said I don’t have much experience with turn tables except for the Audio Technica which was my first turn-table. So I’m sure someone with vast turntable experience may think otherwise, but for someone like me who’s just getting into collecting vinyls, I was extremely impressed.

The clock dial for the radio, along with the lights, and the rich wood design, complemented by the Victrola brand (which was founded in 1904 I believe). just simply *muah* 2) The fact that it can play CD’s (which I have hundreds if not thousands collecting dust).

cassettes (which my parents have hundred to give to me), built in radio (sounds superb) AND bluetooth audio. That may have been the deal-sealer for us. But it just keeps getting better 3) You CAN connect it to stronger speakers.

I’m not sure why people are using this as a con because you indeed can connect this thing to external speakers if you want some extra OOMPH in your bass. Although for something like a bedroom or small chill area, it’s more than loud enough.

Lets face it, you’re probably not going to be playing vinyls during a house party. there’s going to be some drunk person who’ll claim aux and play their apple music playlist. It’s fantastic for what it is, and when I got some friends over and we’re playing cards, it’s unbelievably relaxing to listen to.

Not to mention a conversation starter, everyone had something good to say about it’s eye catching looks. 4) Kind of integrated with the 3rd point, the built in speaker is great. I know that typically turntables with built in speakers should be avoided, but this one impressed me a lot, and I’m a guitarist and drummer for over 15 years so I may not have experience with vinyls but I certainly have an ear for quality sound.

It’s not “mind blowing” but it satisfies my ears and believe me when I say I’m a picky guy. In the end we didn’t hesitate to purchase this while it was on sale and the same price as my previous AT. So far we have been so pleased with no regrets.

The ONLY con I have with it and it’s not a huge deal, is the fact that it can’t rewind the cassette tapes, but I mean everyone born in the 90’s or earlier should know about the good old stick a pen and spin away trick, it actually brought some funny memories back which made it not such a huge deal.

It’s a wonderful piece to have, looks beautiful and is very simple to use. If you’re not an expert vinyl collector then I wouldn’t be too worried on “the best quality” because this turntable is more than decent for the price.

I got the 4 year warranty for the peace of mind so I’m not worried at all over quality control issues, but so far nothing has happened in the last 4 months. I give it a big 5/5 stars and recommend it to anybody who’s an amateur vinyl enthusiast like myself.

I still have my AT at home and it sits in my room mainly, I find that I use the victrola just because its looks catch my eye and I want to stick a vinyl in it.

I purchased this unit because my wife wanted to experiment in vinyl. I wanted something that could do more than just play records, so I appreciated that this unit also had a CD player, radio, and Bluetooth as advertised features (we don’t have any cassettes).

The overall build quality is decent, and we VERY much appreciated the mid-century aesthetic FAR more than the other faux-antique design options Victrola has to offer (to us, their Aviator and Navigator models look cheap and ridiculous more than anything nostalgic).

The speaker quality is decent for an all-in-one unit; it lacks deep bass, but can still fill a larger living room without issue. CD Player, radio, and Bluetooth all functioned well, but it absolutely falls flat on its face when it comes to record playing.

The first unit we purchased was a lemon: the record player was fully DOA so we returned it and purchased a new one. The second unit had an absolutely horrible wobble to it and I believe the needle was either broken or bent on arrival.

We exchanged that unit and decided to give them one more chance with a third unit. Everything seemed to function, but the record player quality was just abysmal to the point that it might as well have been broken.

Scratchy, distorted, and faded to the maximum degree. It really bummed me out how terrible the record player was on all these units because we liked everything else about it. We returned our third unit and instead opted for the Victrola Eastwood Signature; it only has Bluetooth and built-in speakers as additional features to the record player (no cd, cassette, or radio).

It utilizes an Audio-Technica cartridge and I believe that to account for the MASSIVE difference in audio quality for the turntable; it sounds far better than other Victrola all-in-one turntables. If Victrola offered the Empire with a markedly better build quality for the turntable like they have in their Eastwood Signature, it would be a grand slam.

Unfortunately, this is much more of an easy pop-fly out. Avoid this unit.

I know, all-in-one units are typically known for mediocre sound quality. Not so here. Ok, this isn’t rock the roof off, but it sounds great even at higher volumes. I’ll never use the tape deck, so no comment there, I guess it’s nice to know it’s there if a friend brings an old tape over.

LOL But I will be using and am glad that this also has a CD player. Ok, obviously I bought this for the record player, but I seriously do have a big collection of CD’s, so a new way to play those as well is a definite bonus for me.

Absolutely love the look of this. The fabric speaker cover, the rich brown wood color and the way the radio dial is blended into everything makes for an awesome design that has much style as it does use.

I had a briefcase style record player with a cool pattern on it, but think about it before you go with one of those. Do you really expect great sound quality from the tiny speakers that they all have? There’s a reason their so much cheaper.

While the speakers in this obviously aren’t huge their at least big enough for good, clean & clear sound when turned up. A look at the tape deck says that they no doubt skimped on quality there, but again, I’ll never use it and I doubt too many people buying this will use it much if ever either.

It does have Bluetooth which for me is the icing on the cake here. I also like knowing it has aux port too. Not anything I’ll use immediately, but knowing it’s there I might at some point. Ultimately this is a great all-in-one record player with pretty much everything you could want that sounds as good as it looks.

Definitely recommend.

Excellent for our very specific purpose. My elderly mother-in-law has some cognitive deficit, and required the simplest possible radio to replace an older but still nice Bose Soundwave that she had. The Bose worked fine, but she had trouble with the alarm (somehow she was activating the alarm inadvertently, then music would ‘mysteriously’ blast her awake in the middle of the night when it went off).

This works great. We set it to her preferred station (and set all of the pre-sets to that station), and put a small bright red sticker at the power button, telling her just to push that button to get her radio.

So far so good. Quality is decent, simplicity is ideal (especially the lack of an alarm, which helps in this situation), and the retro look is comfortable for her, too.

I usually listen to my CDs in my car, but since I don’t drive too often, I figured I should get a CD player. Most other players were kind of ugly but this one looks nice on a shelf. It also has a lot of other features I didn’t necessarily need like radio stations and Bluetooth, but they were a great addition! Very easy to set up and use, it even comes with a handy dandy remote.

Sound quality is good however I haven’t tried listening to music on max yet. Rating the product 5 five because it met all my expectations and I am satisfied, nothing to complain about.

The receiver is terrible and doesn’t pick up 1/10 of the FM stations the prior set picked up in the exact same location. It doesn’t have a AM selection and the controls are insufficient for an office set.

Seriously considering returning it! Absolutely terrible unit. It wasn’t in the store on display but highly recommended by the sales rep so I purchased it. Will not do that again.

Opened and tested. Sounds great, but I will be returning this. I bought this for my mother to keep on her counter, basically as an alternative to a Bose Wave radio or a simple boom box style. The problem is that there was no detailed description and pictures of the unit to show that you need to mount the AM loop antenna and connect the wire, as well as the FM wire antenna, which also needs to be mounted or strung up.

Instead of being an item you can just place on a counter, now there are wires to string up, not difficult, but unsightly, and it cannot easily be moved. The buttons and features are also a little challenging for older people.

If pictures were shown of each angle, contents of the box, etc. I would not have purchased.

Boosts my home office greatly. Not huge, solid, attractive. Dial and buttons feel premium. Maybe a bit expensive when compared to truly premium systems, but a great value when on sale. Good for voice and music.

Can understand podcasts without needing equalization. Only issue so far is low contrast and identical shape/size of buttons, so it’s difficult to see/know what you’re pressing in low light (such as on a shelf).

The remote helps, but it would be sensible to redesign the Power button (at minimum). Backlight would be great, but that’s obviously pricier.

The sound is good, but the functionality is poorly designed. It feels like this is a good prototype. And after the designers try to use it for a while, the v2 will be a lot better. The remote is needed to do many everyday functions.

The clock only appears when the appropriate button is pushed on the remote, and the time is visible only for 10 seconds or so.

Really good sound in a small package my 2nd one that I bought. Minor issue on the display, the top segments do not light up on the latest one. But still happy with it.

Wow,this little stero packs a great sounds and if you don’t watch it the SPEAKER WILL dance right off the shelf.

Wished the volume would be able to reach to louder settings, but overall, it’s designed and stylish to place in my library.

I needed an MP3 file/CD player with USB flash drive input for playing sleep inducing recordings (such as rain sounds with distant rumbling thunder). The player would be placed in the bedroom and set at a low volume (yet should provide decent sound fidelity).

A full-function remote was also needed. I selected this Sony because the brand normally means quality, and the advertised 120 W (total) output suggested a real HiFi. Out of the box, I noticed the player had a pretty short power cord (I could have used a cord two feet longer).

After I set it up, it appeared to do what I wanted at nightime. My criticism of the CD player is related to playing music. There are no separate treble and bass controls; you have only a bass boost and a single setting (Rock, Jazz, etc.

) equalizer with the frequency band enhancement or reduction pre-defined. The (music) sound reproduction is somewhat disappointing. Perhaps the speakers should be larger, although the tiny speaker wires don’t look adequate to handle 60 W per channel.

My 35+ year-old RadioShack (Realistic) stereo receiver with 16 W per channel sounds a whole lot nicer (and louder). To be fair, I will note that my stereo receiver cost me more than twice the Sony (not including inflation) and did not include a CD player (not then invented) or bookshelf speakers.

I will also note that my stereo receiver was a quality built machine (in Korea!) and has lasted virtually forever.

The product is simply awesome. The bass and clarity is just top notch. The price is bit on the higher side, but definitely justifies the product. In my opinion, better and suitable than other alternative of different brands.

Will definitely consider this product again before buying.

I thought that sound was pretty good and easily connected it with my iphone. Sony never diasappoints me with their quality products, however, I wish it didn’t take up so much space when I compare it to my sound bar I have in the living room.

I usually use it for parties though since it fills the entire room.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this purchase. The speakers put out a good sound and I love being able to play my old records again. The FM antenna does a great job picking up the radio stations from 20 miles away.

I give it 5 stars because of the quality and price.

I love it better than I thought I would . The sound is great, speakers are just right . Just wish the cords were longer. I like the idea of being able to move it when I want to. JUST RIGHT.

I’m very happy with my system. It is perfect for my room. I have it to the sound bar also. Bluetooth, CD, Tape players and Card.

This unit was the closest match found to replace a boom box that finally wore out after more than three decades of faithful service. With one month’s use, it is performing as expected. The audio quality is better than expected.

Some other reviews complain of inadequate volume. While it might not suffice in a back yard or gymnasium, it is more than adequate for typical domestic use. The antennae could be better. The FM antenna is wire that can be difficult to position for optimum service unless one extends it with an unaesthetic attachment to the ceiling or high on a wall.

Using a coaxial cable to connect to the TV antenna in my attic resolved this issue. It was a bit surprising that the AM antenna is external. This unit’s predecessor had an internal AM antenna & it showed little directional sensitivity.

The external AM antenna is highly directional & did not receive stations 30-35 miles distant well without adjusting the coil’s orientation. The off-white lettering for the black buttons on the sides of the front is easy to read in bright daylight but impossible in the room during the evening.

By contrast, the remote control’s lettering is clear in the evening. The remote works well, but it was necessary to consult user’s guide to operate the disc changer. A disc changer was a surprise, since their popularity has declined in recent years.

It works, but one wonders how robust the mechanism will be over time. The USB connection capability was a bonus. It works intuitively and well. The Bluetooth connection has not been tested.

Poorly designed, clunky, and slow. Even just turning it on requires an incomprehensible series of steps that have to be timed just right. And there’s such a delay between each step, that it takes about a minute — no kidding, a full minute — between the time you first press “On” and when the disc starts to play.

Moreover, the device has a tendency to “forget” that it has discs in the trays — and displays “No Disc” even when the trays are full. Almost every time you turn it off and on again, you have to open and close each tray just to ‘remind’ the device that there are discs in them.

When I called to ask about this, the customer service rep said that this was “normal”. Well, if that’s normal, then this device is poorly designed; and if it’s not, then it’s defective. Either way, it’s inconvenient and unreliable.

Finally, our remote broke after just about a month. When I called to complain, I was told that they couldn’t do anything about it because the remote was an “accessory”. Well, there’s functionality that can only be controlled by the remote, and not on the unit itself — things like adjusting the treble and bass.

That means that if your remote breaks — as ours did, after only a month! — you’ll never be able to change the settings. Strange to call something an “accessory” when it’s the only way to control certain features on the device.

Basically, this device is a mess. For your own sake and sanity, pick something else.

I needed a all-in-one entertainment unit that included a ‘CD’ deck. Looked everywhere and could not find a unit that included a CD deck. Yes, I am old school and was not going to sell, trade or dummy download or transfer my precious CDs.

SHARP to the rescue!!! This unit is amazing. Quality sound, Bluetooth, wireless, and a good quality set of speakers and more. Check the specifications. Bottom line, if you need a quality all-in-one unit you will enjoy this unit.

Oh, SHARP also sells same unit without the CD deck.

I was very excited to receive this system, I needed something small and easy for my kitchen workspace, away from my main stereo. Well, unfortunately, almost nothing works correctly on it. The cassette deck does not play well, sometimes it plays at 2x speed, sometimes the sound washes in and out, sometimes it won’t rewind or fast forward without a horrible grinding gear noise.

The CD player generates an unlistenable amount of horrible noise on top of the music if you listen through the poorly shielded headphone jack, and a different horrible noise if you listen through the RCA outputs.

The record player sounds thin and awful, especially when compared to the CD player sound, which at least has some bass under the noise. There is no EQ feature either, in case you wanted to add any bass or subtract any treble.

The SD card recording feature that they advertise is factory preset to record only at 128 kbps MP3, the worst recording quality possible. This gives you an indication of the quality of the build on this stereo system.

Very disappointed with this, and having to work very hard to get the purported 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to take effect, they have required me to take videos and make audio recordings of the system working improperly, when I really just want my money back to try and find a system that works.

Avoid.

I purchased this unit in April of 2021. The reason I purchase it was to play my records. I love the unit for this purpose. The CD player leaves a bit to be desired. When playing my CD’s there is a low rumbling noise that comes through the speakers.

It is only on CD’s and it can be heard most prominently on softer music. If you are buying this unit for the record player and radio, it is great. But, if you plan on playing a lot of CD’s on it you may want to consider a different unit.

Unit arrived broken, majority of cassette tapes wouldn’t play and when one did play, it would only have sound coming out the right speaker. Vinyl player arm looks like it was glued back on after being broken as well.

Customer service is slim to none when contacted about this. They are very slow at responding, it takes several days. They’re not located in the United States, they’re located in China. Asked for a refund and they are fighting me on it despite the proof I showed of the unit being broken as stated before.

Right off the bat the unit is so light you can tell the speakers won’t be like the BTM-2180! It felt like one speaker of my 2180 weighed more than the whole 2310 unit! Put a CD in, played but the sound was hollow, such a disappointment! I love my 2180 and was so excited to get the new model.

Attempted to connect to Bluetooth, after 30 minutes of trying I gave up! Packed everything up and returned it!.

Bought this machine earlier on today, looking forward to finally listening to some cds I’ve collected but I’ve not been able to listen too. I set the system up, it would not read the cds at first then the details started appearing followed by rattling sounds.

I tried a few cds each one left with scratches.

Very poor sound quality for a Philips product, at that price of $108. 00 , would have expected more from the Philip brand very poor sound quality not as advertised digital Dynamic sound quality NOT THERE.

I’ve had this gem for awhile now and it really seems to do everything well. The majority of my listening comes from my Plex server or Pandora, and the sound is amazing. My jazz music sounds awesome, even streaming.

The HEOS app for phones/tablets makes it very easy to queue up music, and it allows the user to adjust the EQ from the app. Only (slight) dislike is when playing music from my turntable using RCAs. Sound is washed out a bit, but this was easily solved using an inexpensive Tubed pre-amp I got from Amazon.

Together they make old Led Zepplin albums sound better than they did in the ’70s.

The sound quality of this unit is awesome! However, I will be returning it because the LED display is out. Yes, I did try the dimmer button. Signed, Disappointed 🙁

Excellent product. The only thing I noticed is that having many Bluetooth connections around the system may cause interference with phones. Other than that, superb performance and quality of sound.

First of all, this comes **with a CD** with recording instructions and software. Last time I had a computer that came with a CD drive was around 2012. Secondly, I expected from the product description that digital conversion would be onboard the record player.

Older images I’ve seen of this record player have a RECORD button, just stick in a flash drive and record your album to mp3, right? No, that’s not how this works. This requires that you connect a computer and learn how to use very geeky open source software — **if** you can even get that software running if you have a Mac.

You can get around the “no CD drive in recent history” problem by downloading the app from audacity’s website, but even on a computer with the proper specs as stated on the Audacity website, the app not only does not launch but completely hangs up your Mac requiring a hard shutdown.

You will spend hours on the world wide web trying to find the answer to these problems and you will have to register on the Audacity forums, post your dilemma and hope that someone gives you an answer.

Then if you can ever get Audacity to launch you will spend hours learning how to convert to mp3s from vinyl. Again, it’s an open-source software title with no support from Victrola, and this is NOT an app for beginners and you will spend hours learning how to use it.

If you only want a record/CD/cassette player & radio. from the other reviews it seems folks are happy with this cute product. But if your goal, like mine, is to digitize your vinyls and especially you are on Mac — or even on Windows but don’t have a lot of time to learn an exceedingly geeky app called Audacity with no support from Victrola for their product — look around for something different.

I’ll be very sadly returning my cute Victrola to Best Buy and will keep researching an easy way to convert my albums. Finally, the price on this at Best Buy is about $50 more than other outlets on the web.

I purchased a Victrola 8-IN-1 Turntable unit model VTA-754B, SN D1911008861TA on 10/17/2020. Beautiful and stylish unit; very well made. The three extra turntable needles are a great add-on. I love the ability to digitize my vinyl collection.

The included software is adequate. For example, I transfer my music to 320 kbps mp3 files, but you can also record to lossless file format, amongst other formats. I can also listen to my cassette music, such as my collection of the 100 Greatest Rock N Roll Hits.

The FM radio is nice to have. I do not use the USB or Bluetooth options much. Simply because I have Bluetooth sound bars and portable speakers that I prefer to use. Unfortunately, my unit exhibits a noise distortion on any of the play modes when the volume is between zero to 5.

I cannot use this unit to play music in my bedroom while winding down, reading or prior to sleeping because the noise distortion is too much of a distraction at the lower volume. Additionally, the sound volume upon starting the unit is always at level 15, on FM, tape, phone, cd, etc.

My recommendation is that you may be disappointed with this item for soft listening of your music. But if you always listen to music very loud – then go for it! If I were the quality control manager, I would recall this unit for the unfortunate and uncomfortable sound distortion at sound volume under level 5.

Arrived quickly in perfect condition, looks nice, spacesaving, all components work (cd, radio, tape, record player), sound is just ok (e. g. good for listening while working, around house etc). I didn’t expect high stereo quality given inexpensive price and lack of sound adjustments other than one volume control knob that spins around continuously.

Con: Bluetooth “capability” is misleading – I bought a portale bluetooth speaker and it did not work with aviator so I had to search u-tube videos for a work around solution: bought on Amazon for $30 a 5.
