20 Best Vinyl Uv Protectant (2022 Updated)

I purchased a 1949 Jeep CJ2, with a Bestop, about a year ago. The Bestop doors were seldom used and had been in storage for years. After washing them they looked great except for the windows. They were so bad that you could not even see through them.

I decided to try this product and hope for the best. After spraying a light coat and wiping off with a microfiber cloth – as directed, I was disappointed. Although some dirt was on the cloth, the clear vinyl looked about the same.

My first thought was “this stuff may be OK for some uses but I guess my windows are too far gone”. Luckily, I decided to try another pass. This time I used a little more solution and rubbed a little harder.

I only did one little area to see if there was any improvement. It was actually working! Now I’m excited and with a few more passes it was starting to look really good. Finally after about 30 minutes of work, on one window, it is crystal clear!! Absolutely all the grime (or whatever it was) is completely gone and it looks like brand new.

Well, except for a few scratch marks and around the edges, where I didn’t concentrate on. I don’t know if this stuff will erase the scratches, with some more effort, but I’m gonna give it a try. I know the edges will come out fine as will the other door window.

The rest of the top was easy, just spray on like any glass cleaner and wipe off thoroughly. Crystal clear and shiny – just like new. Although it did take some time and effort on those door windows, it was totally worth it.

Glad I didn’t give up on the first pass. Like the other 303 products – Highly Recommended!!!.

I used this product on both my boat and car. The product worked great on vinyl curtains on my boat. The curtains had a slight haze to them, but after application they were like new again. I also used the product on my cars interior.

It worked great, and picked up all the dust. The one great thing is the material was not slick like other products do. Not only did it remove and pick up most dust and particles, it went on very clear and quickly dried to a rich, natural (for vinyl) sheen that looked professionally detailed.

In fact, because it is alcohol free and non-streaking, it requires a good amount of wiping and buffing to evenly apply and adequately remove the liquid (which may be a put-off for some), but the result is a very clean vinyl.

That is to say, the extra effort is worth it. I even used it on the vinyl trim of the seats and they came out looking like new. I can’t speak much to the UV protection, but 303 products have a good reputation and are made in the USA, so I’ve no doubt of its potential to achieve its UV protection claims.

Regardless of all that, I just really like the look of my vinyl after using this product. Every piece of trim in my car and boat looks great.

I wasn’t sure how many uses there would be for this product, but after a better understanding, it has many. I was thinking more inside-the-box for a convertible top window on a car. At this time, I only have short-term experience, as it’s just getting warm enough to get a convertible out (or boat, for that matter).

However, I’m really liking this product on not just clear vinyl- on which it applies & dries after a decent amount of buffing to a very nice sheen- it also seems to work well on hard vinyl & plastic trim surfaces where you wouldn’t want a glossy treatment.

Surfaces such as dashboards & dash caps, door panels, etc. Any surface that sun shines on is much nicer with a product like this that dries to a protective sheen vs a protectant that leaves a “wet” appearance that can attract dust.

So, it applies wet but after some rubbing & buffing dries to a nice sheen. Assuming it is offering the UV protection it states- which I’ll only know over time, I’m pretty satisfied with how it functions.

Within a few months of buying a new couch, the center cushion had a ‘Sugar Baby’ (candy) stuck in the center. The responsible culprit had flipped the cushion; it wasn’t visible until I turned all the cushions.

Unfortunately, it had been there for a month and left a large, greasy spot dead center (approximately 2 inch diameter). I tried every cleaning product I owned; I tried every remedy I Googled. Nothing Worked on this spot.

I had given up until I spotted 303 Multi-Purpose Cleaner on Home Essentials Direct. I figured, what did I have to lose? I tested the cleaner on a couch sleeve and saw no change in the color or texture.

I proceeded to the center cushion and soaked the greasy spot, used a soft bristle toothbrush to gently work the cleaner into the stained area. IT WORKED! I must admit I was extremely skeptical that anything would removes this grease stain after hiding it for two years.

I had tried everything & I have every cleaning product made. $20 saved my $5,000 couch. My only regret is that I did not take a ‘before’ photo; simply didn’t occur to me anything would remove the spot.

I first bought this for $15 in the store size spray bottle. I read about its uses online and then put it through the test. I drove part-time Uber/Lyft Suv Lux. I maintain my own cars and it’s a pain carrying around several different spray bottles, one for the dash, one for the leather, tires, exterior plastics when you are a perfectionist in keeping your car in brand new shape.

With that in mind, I also read about the uses on serpentine belts, all of the tires, sidewalls and tread, soft rubber door seals. I tried it on everything. After I bought the small bottle, I bought two gallons on Zoro and they lasted me over 3 years ( well worth it).

The end result of a 2016 Tahoe Lt with 72,000 miles on it ( 3 years at this point which I bought brand one-year, I know I’m repeating myself) and it still looks like new. As I rotated the tires, I sprayed this stuff on the tread, sidewalls (factory junk Uniroyals got close to 60,000 miles on them).

I have sprayed the door seals, no cracks and still supple. All the interior vinyl and leather as new. I even sprayed the serpentine belt in the engine ( difficult to due properly since I didnt take it off and you need to get it on top and the bottom) but it still looks brand new with no wear in any manner.

You can throw away 4-5 products and just buy one. I cant tell you how many compliments I get despite having over 600 plus rides including my own family trips and abuse of this SUV. I have seen plenty of other same year Tahoes and Suburbans and the interior looks nothing like mine.

My only complaint. there is no company that makes a decent chemical resistant spray bottle. I even buy the heavy duty ones and they all leak after several months of use. Too bad 303 didn’t make a bottle as good as the product.

Shake the gallon real good before refilling your spray bottle and shake the spray bottle before use also.

Learned of 303 Aerospace when researching dry rot after 5 yr old tires (car not garaged) wouldn’t pass inspection because of cracks in the treads. Numerous more knowledgeable sites I found recommended 303 and talked about how many of the well known silicone products were actually bad for rubber and some could accelerate dry rot.

I don’t use the silicone products because hate the slick, shiny, greasy-feeling surface they leave. 303 leaves a surface finish that looks rich, conditioned, not shiny, newer than before. I’ve used on car tires, plastic/vinyl car trim, plastic planters, plastic outdoor chairs, certain painted lawn decor.

After use, surfaces are much easier to clean, ex. used to have to use mild abrasive cleanser to get marks off plastic lawn chairs. UV protection important for outdoor plastics and rubber. Wish could find 303 in local stores, will keep sending away for in the meantime.

I have always been a fan of this product for how it help to maintain plastic type products. It can renew some older materials quite nicely and helps preserve most plastic from ever looking worn. I have plastic lenses in my glasses and find it is really nice for cleaning them and makes them almost like new.

I’ve read stories of people that have soaked the soft rubber like timing belts with this and had them last quite a bit longer in use but I can’t testify to that myself. Others have soaked their new windshield wipers in this and found they too last much longer as a consequence.

The price paid here at Walmart is the best I’ve ever found so that was appealing. I have had good results with this product and have recommended it to friends for years. If you’ve any worldly worn plastics, vinyl, rubber or fiberglass this is really nice for helping them look better and protecting them from sun damage.

Professional detailers are always talking about this stuff. For a reason, it’s brilliant. For a vehicle interior it provides a lovely matt finish and brightens up the plastics. People use it in the engine bay and on exterior plastics.

Just a small amount on a sponge does the job. Don’t use too much. Impossible to find local.

Bought this because I saw a Youtuber using this to condition his rubber wiper blades. He was pouring a small amount into the new blades plastic trough (the plastic bit of the packaging) and then allowing the old blades to sit in the protectant overnight.

This (he claims) rejuvenated the rubber and gives the wipers a new lease of life. Wipers being expensive and owning 2 cars and 3 wipers on each. I decided to give this stuff a try. only used this once.

Just spray a small amount on the windscreen just above the blade. so that it soaks all along the blade and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning (hopefully it hasnt rained) you should have slightly softer more pliable blades.

Honestly I think this stuff works. If it makes my wipers last even 2x as long then its money well spent. I imagine all manner of rubber parts will benefit from this stuff. I will try to use this indefinitely.

im just not sure how long I can keep giving life to rubber wipers!.

I have been using 303 Aerospace Protectant on my boat vinyl ever since discovering it in the hot tub community where it’s used to keep covers looking good. It does a great job keeping vinyl looking new.

I’ve used it on 5 boats now in the last 20 years, and the oldest one is nearly 30 years old. The vinyl still looks very good. Highly recommend!.

When we bought our pontoon last fall, the former owner had left a bottle of 303 Aerospace UV Protectant in the boat, and the boat looked fabulous, so we figured we’d better continue using it. Over the winter, we had the boat wrapped and stored, and it needed a good cleaning in the spring.

We purchased a bottle of the Multi-surface cleaner, which cleaned up the dark spots and dirt, and then finished with the 303 Aerospace UV Protectant. Our seats and trim now have a shine and sheen that look brand new!! We are thrilled! Thank you for this amazing product!!.

I have used this product on my car, sailboat and windsurfers. In all cases, it did a great job protecting material from the sun’s rays and maintaining the original appearance. It does not leave a bad smell, an offensive sheen or a really greasy feeling.

Highly recommended for sails (dacron and monofilm), trampolines (polypropylene), dashboard (vinyl) and pre-cleaned seats (leather). Yes, this would probably work well on rubber (tire sidewalls. ). No, I use other products for fiberglass that last even longer and provide a shiny appearance (StarBrite Polish).

IMHO, there is no better protectant out there (my sails, dashboard and trampoline are continually exposed the sun).

I used the 303 protectant spray on the cover of my smoker/grill. When my grill cover was fading and turning gray and began to show signs of cracking, I remembered the 303 spray so I ran down to AutoZone and picked up a 24oz.

bottle. The difference is amazing. My wife thought I bought a new cover (that would have been over $200 if they still made them anymore). I wish that I had taken a “before” photo. I used the 303 Protectant on the interior of my Jeep and had great results.

I also used it on the black plastic fenders. The fenders have already seen some fading so the results were good, but not as dramatic – however the Before and After photos do show the difference it made.

The 303 Protectant spray does not leave that greasy sheen and film like some other vinyl protectants. Plus, 303 is made in the U. S. A. For best results, I sprayed it on a cloth or paper towel then applied it on my fenders.

I did not want overspray on surfaces that shouldn’t receive the protectant (overspray can be noticed on concrete after the rain). 303 may be a little more expensive than some other protectants, but in the long run you will be saving money.

I’ve been covering every inch of my 24 yr old tires w/303 for years & years and they looked so good that when I took my Jeep to Discount Tires for a piece of metal in the tread the Manager, while kneeling down & inspecting, said “You got some good looking tires here.

” He only did a total turn around when he looked at the year of the paperwork. They were still absolutely gorgeous the day I bought new tires. Everything I read & everyone I talked with kept telling me that it was very dangerous to drive that old of tires so I caved in.

303 is amazing & the best product I’ve ever used on my vehicles. I am & always will be a lifer. (Even though the price has gone from under $50 when I started to almost $90. the last time I bought it) I won’t waste my money on any other brand.

My go-to protectant. Use it on the leather dash, door cards, rear deck, etc. And use it on the rubber seals. Not on the leather seats. yet. These are all interior surfaces, so can’t comment on how it weathers.

Some of these surfaces, which are textured black, were greying with some white showing in the texturing. 303 brought them back to black and, after wiping as directed, left a matte finish that isn’t sticky.

Just like new. Doesn’t seem to attract dust, as advertised. Has no odor. And is water-based. Again, my go-to protectant. Highly recommended.

I cant stop using this stuff. Makes upholstery look new. Took away water stains nothing else would. Gives a great sheen without feeling greasy , clearly protects against water as it beads right off. Also made my tired boat dash look new.

Amazing results def recommend.

So far so good. I bought this specifically for loungefly backpacks. My only reccomendation is to use a lint free white cloth when using it. It didn’t leave a weird film or change change colors.

It brought back my faded maroon Seadoo seat to a more appealing appearance. I should not have allowed the seat to get so faded. I can see where using this in the beginning would have prevented my problem.

I have been using this product all plastic, rubber, vinyl and leather in my cars for about 1. 5 years. I really like that it is not really shiny which helps reduce the reflection on my windshield from the dash.

It also does not have a greasy feel and does not attract dust like other dressings I have used in the past. Living in Arizona, dust happens and this has kept clean better than anything else I have ever tried.

Living in a hot climate, rubber quickly deteriorates so I use 303 everywhere on my vehicles, to include all of the hoses in the engine bay and door seals. I have noticed a huge difference in the way this protectant keeps whatever is applied to from drying out as opposed dressings that sit on the surface and quickly fade away.

Obviously I really like the product but my only criticism is the bottle on the 32oz vs the 16oz. The plastic used for the 32oz bottle is very thin and leaks and the sprayer leaks a little when being used.

The 16oz bottle was not as thin and didn’t leak at all. But I like the product enough to buy a better quality sprayer and just fill that instead. After reading the negative effects that tire shine has, I started using 303 on my tires as well.

With tire shine products, I would always get splatter once the vehicle was driven so I started wiping them down after the application. It helped with the splatter but always ended up with a blotchy look and were quickly covered in road grime.

With 303, I still wipe the tires down after a few mins but there is no blotchiness. My tires also end up not being shiny but have a clean, deep black look much like when they were brand new. I have also noticed that it seems to clean as well.

I sprayed some on my all terrain tires after car wash which see a lot of dirt road/ off road use and it seemed to pull the dirt out of the tire. When applied the liquid was milk white but after a few mins it was more of an eggnog color.

I’ve tried most of the competitors products, with mixed results. Some are impossibly slippery, slimy, or dull right out of the bottle. Others seem to leave a undesirable high gloss finish that makes the vehicle look cheap.

This product seems to meet all expectations, and in most cases exceeds them. The attached photos show the before and after. The first two are the grill in front of the windshield. The left is before, it looks dry and the next one is the after.

The following pictures, is of the passenger side rear view mirror. The first picture is dry the second picture is 50/50 use of the product. The last pictures show the finished mirror and a close up for a more detailed inspection.

Edit 07/19/18 – attached more pics of my new 2018 f150. The grill , from the factory, looked awful. There was some white film on the honeycomb grill. You can see the effect of the 303 on a vehicle only 3 weeks old, it’s not just for weather beaten mirrors.

The first 3 pics are before, next 4 are after 303. I’ve since used it on wipers, which proved to be awesome, and door moldings with equally agreeable results. Can make no claims on longevity, however, so far I feel it certainly has meet my expectations, A little more pricey than off-the-shelf products, but in my opinion worth the up charge.

I have used Armorall for 40 years and did not know that it had so many poor quantities until I noticed my tires turning brown and my tonneau cover graying quickly. Today was my first time using 303 protectant: it went on a lot easier than Armorall, did not streak, and covered uniformaly.

The color on the black surfaces was dark when finished. I applied to the grill chrome and it even removed old bugs easily. If you are looking for a glossy finish, then this is not for you. But knowing that it is better for surfaces than Armorall makes it a good trade off.

I recently received an order of some items from Chemicals Guys. One thing I was really looking forward to was Streak Free because it’s safe on tinted glass. I went outside this morning and cleaned the glass.

Streak Free worked awesome. As I was cleaning the windshield I noticed the rubber trim on the bottom didn’t look so good. For some reason I had been overlooking it in the past and it showed. I was thinking replace.

Then I remembered I had also received some VRP I wanted to try. I masked off the windshield and cleaned the rubber trim piece with a degreaser. I applied the VRP with an applicator and the rubber soaked it up.

I applied again and really worked it in. After the 3rd. Coating and massaging it in the piece it looked hydrated and softened up. I was impressed. I had just detailed my truck and done the interior with Total Interior (another great product).

My curiosity led me to try a little VRP on a test spot. Wow look at that shine. So I did the dashboard, awesome I kept going to the center console and it also shined like a new penny. I’m supposed to be going to town today and run errands but I couldn’t stop.

I almost completed the interior but the Texas heat got the best of me. I plan on using VRP on the tires and all the trim and plastic. After proper prep work of course. I’d order some Trim Clean but my wife found my Chemical Guys stash this morning Lol and I still have the foam trigger sprayer for the Diablo coming ( can’t wait to try) and my cyclones for the wash buckets.

Have used this on our inflatable pontoon boat in the past and it is wonderful. It cleans off the water gunk from the many lakes we have paddled on. Plus, there’s no wiping it off which saves time and energy.

Our boat is 18 yrs old and I feel that this 3M product has helped save the integrity of the vinyl. Once on, however, it is slippery and more difficult to roll up but we know it is protecting it. The only con we have is the price paid for 8 oz.

The first time we purchased the 3M, we received an 18 oz bottle from another company. and it was much less per ounce. That particular store no longer carries it though. So goes the time and unable to find it locally.

Not really a good cleaner and it didnt seem to protect our seats they still cracked and stained. Directions say use a small amount and thats ok but did we use to little and that was the problem or is it the product.

I like 3m but i wouldnt recommend this one. I used 303 for 4yrs on our boat with no issues and saw this stuff and decided to try it because we had a few stains from moisture. Well it didnt do anything for the stains even after multiple aplications as the directions stated and now the seats are starting to crack.

At the begining of the summer they were soft now they are harder and brittle. We also cover our boat when not in use so i wont be using it again.

After reading positive reviews I couldn’t wait to use it. However, it didn’t look any different after trying to clean a small patch. Made the vinyl very slippery so not great for boat seats. Expected more of a 3M product and for the price.

Aerospace 303 was recommended by a professional car cleaner/detailer of bikes and after cleaning my BMW RT1200 with it and riding in one downpour it did not wash off. Does not wash off with general cleaning.

Great on plastics and leather. I have cleaned the whole bike with it including the paintwork and am not disappointed. The bike stays cleaner. Am told it will last for around 6 weeks but that depends on weather and riding conditions.

Have yet to try it on the car but I bought it more for the bike. Worth buying. Spray it on, lightly wipe over/rub in and leave for an hour then polish off. You won’t be disappointed. Also applied it to a couple of my UPVC doors and windows to compare with the rest and there is definitely a difference.

Rain runs off in the same way as it does on windscreens applied with rainex.

When I purchased a boat and became active in boating everybody and I am everybody recommended using 303 Aerospace Protestant to protect and beautify the Marine vinyl used on seats, preservers and numerous other things.

Nothing holds up to the salt and sun like 303. Once applied it keeps it from fading and makes it easier to clean and repeals stains. Unlike other products, it also lasts. I then realized if it worked that good in the harsh conditions of the ocean, it would work really well on my truck! So, now I use it on my tourneau cover and dashboard and it looks great and last a really long time even after repeated car washes.

The black tourneau still looks brand new and I only have to reapply like 2-3 times a year. despite the sun beating down on the horizontal surface, the road salt used during our Northeast winters and the salty air of our coastal area.

I put this on my tires and rims even. Follow instructions of course. Best tire shine product I’ve ever used and that wasn’t even my intention when I purchased. It lasts. No need to buy tire shine and my tires and rims stay cleaner between washing like dust has a harder time sticking and it washes off like Teflon.

Evidently this stuff will make your tires go twice as many miles as they are rated to go if you coat the entire inside and outside of the tire when you have them put on your vehicle and just keep regular maintenance a few times a year externally and your tires will last.

This is a tough product to rate, without waiting years. Yes, 303 protectants have a strong reputation, but how do I rate a vinyl “protectant” that I can’t see the results of? Product has no alcohol, so that is a good thing.

Is dries clear and evenly, so that is another plus. I applied the vinyl protectant to my motorcycle windshield and seats, as well as the dash and vinyl panels of both my cars. Dust seems to be minimal and the shine looks clean.

As for the protectant? We will see. 4 stars for 303 and its reputation. zero for “guessing” on the protectant part.

This product has worked very well for my hot tub siding and vinyl cover. The hot tub sits in North Carolina sun all day long. The color in the vinyl cover and plastic siding fade quickly to a bleached-out look.

I’ve tried all of the UV products, and they look great immediately after putting them on and even for a week or so after in some cases. But the colors always went back to the bleached look. I used this product and the colors have stayed nice for over a month now.

Definitely the best protectant I have used.

I’ve tried a lot of tire polishes, glazes, etc. This one puts on a medium gloss, but the real selling point is that it lasts, in my experience, easily 2-3 times longer than all the others. One spray bottle goes a long way.

Will buy again.

Hands done the best product if you want your vinyl rubber parts looking fresh n new! I purchased a bottle because I seen a YouTuber using it while detailing a vehicle so I went and purchased one omg amazing! And it last for awhile too! I would strongly recommend this product you will NOT be disappointed!.

Works great but only lasts a few weeks and needs to be reapplied. In fairness, don’t know of anything that lasts long outside. A little pricey but it also depends on where you buy it from. Does work good though for anything vinyl or plastic that you don’t want to use an Armor All type product.

Doesn’t leave a slick glossy shine.

I use it as a cleaner/protectant on my hot tub cover. It works great and makes the vinyl feel soft and not dry and yukky. The cover is out in the open year round in all sorts of northwest weather, mostly rain, and 303 gives it good water, sun, and snow protection.

I just spray it on and wipe off with an old terry cloth towel. It cleaned off bird poop and dirt and made it look and feel like new again. 303 is a great product!.

Used this after using the West Marine Vinyl Cleaner, and I got to admit that it really put that nice elastic feel back into our seats! Our seats are only a year and a half old but they were left in the sun all summer in the Texas heat and started to dry.

This product brought life back into our seats. Simple as spraying on and wiping of 10 minutes later. We did a few applications to make sure the seats were well treated. Only complaint is that it does leave the seat a little greasy, but it’s easy to wipe away with a dry cloth.

Bought a pontoon with some mildew problems. Once those were addressed, I used this treatment. It brings a shiny, but not oily, look to the seats and definitely does a good job of moisturizing and protecting.

Going back for another bottle very very soon!.

Spray bottle did not work. It spit out the product and was so frustrated I bought a real spray bottle. I don’t know where they are getting this stuff but is must be super cheap.
