20 Best Viper Alarm System (2022 Updated)

I purchased this item to replace my 20 year old Viper alarm once the remote literally fell apart in my hands. Since the brand was reliable with outstanding product lasting power I went with the same brand for my replacement.

My new version came with two key fobs and more can be purchased and programmed in store. As a total tech member the unit was an excellent price too. Pros – the key fobs are more streamlined than the old ones and fit in my pocket more comfortably.

Features such as the valet option and the silent disarm are much easier to remember and use. Cons – the alarm doesn’t auto-lock after 30 seconds like my old one. The chirp is smaller and a bit more difficult to hear, also a little wimpy for my V-8, but more importantly, chirping it to re-locate it in the parking lot doesn’t work as well because the volume is just not as loud.

I bought an older car that had power locks but I did not have a remote to control them. I bought OEM remotes but could not get them to connect to the car. I decided to instead look into aftermarket remotes and alarm from best buy.

The price of the alarm included installation which was a complete surprise for me. The low price to add both an alarm and keyless entry was great. Now not only do I have keyless entry but I also have an alarm system.

This is much better than any stock alarm system. The siren is extremely loud and would definitely create attention if someone was trying to break into my car. The alarm also has many sensors so if someone breaks a window, even touches the car hard enough it will set off the alarm.

One option that was a complete surprise is that When I get in my car and put into drive my doors lock and when I turn the car off the doors unlock. This is something simple and more of a convivence feature but I like it a lot.

Anyone looking to add keyless entry or an alarm to there car I would highly recommend looking into this alarm.

Great alarm. With total tech I was able to get it on sale for less than $100 with free installation. Definitely a steal. It comes with two controls. Depending on your vehicle you might need extra parts, so make sure to ask.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the installation guys struggled to put the alarm, and they couldn’t get my trunk to open with the new remotes. I’m not sure what the problem was but they tried it for some time and couldn’t.

Other than that everything went great. Awesome price and great customer service.

Any 5706 alarm remote start from directed you cant go wrong. It has been made for several years and is a analog alarm. Most newer alarms like the DS4 work but there digital and require you to buy additional parts as the main unit doesnt come with everything.

Since with back order of these units because of COVID they have gone up on price from about 220 which is normal to about 300.

Excellence. DEI did well with this unit. Shock guard comes with the unit. Range is very well maintains a good functioning distance. Alarm is very nice. Great investment! Couldn’t be happier. Having remote start is also awesome.

Can be programmed to roll windows down, sunroof open and trunk pop. Can be paired with hood release sensor and motion sensor around car for optimal security. Nuisance filter can be set. Shock guard can be set for soft shock to hard shock and receive a notification.

Would recommend to everyone! Will have one on every car I own! One set back is the 556U bypass I needed. It didn’t allow me to use my key to start my car had to start it with remote start. Not the remote start problem.

Was an issue with the particular bypass I needed with my cars make and model. Minor glitch but was solved by using a different bypass. Anyways not the remote starts problem was the bypass.

The All In One Valet And LEd Is Very beneficial in saving space. The new remotes LCD with the micro USB gives you a lot of customization and control. Previous users stated that the buttons are sensitive, but they function as designed, you press on and it activates something.

I use the remote button lock to avoid accidents and it’s easy. Sometimes the antenna reception can experience interference which means commands may not respond but just from walking a quarter mile to test it’s potential one mile range, I’m satisfied!! I considered Compustar and Prestige as price competitive but overall the Viper has more functionality product consistency that I felt was needed for me to install into a 2013 lexus and 2013 300c.

I have NOT bought this product through these particular company! I have had the exact one installed before and we ended up selling the ’91 Acura (Honda) Integra. This alarm is the best entry level alarm you can buy and it has nice features compared to other entry level systems.

I loved this one so much I kept the box and was looking to get another one for my ’95 Integra SE because I’m the second owner of the car. I just asked for a quote from Viper. com and they allow you to send your info to a dealer and they will call me in a couple days with my quote.

I may just come back to this “DiscountCentralOnline” partner. I honestly loved this alarm system so much I now regret not ripping it out of the car we sold. LOUD Siren, LCD screen tells you when it’s locked, remote door lock, panic button, valet mode, clone safe code hopping, and it has a bright BLUE light that blinks in the car.

You can hook up the trunk release to pop open but it was extra parts and labor. There’s plenty online but not for this low price. 3 stars for the system itself.

i bought this for my car, arrived all well and boxed well as came to england uk, i havn’t fitted to my car but a friend as bought one who fitted to his car and going to fit to mine for me. he showed me how it work and you can tune it own music, even tells you if some one near your car or touching etc, i have cat who sometime sit on car, he said it would beep on the alarm fob on keys to say that there something on car.

Works amazing and its so cheap. It was so easy to install too. Just power, ground, the wire to the relay for the siren and you just hook up the trigger wire from the doors and trunk and voila! Your alarm system works.

And if you want, you can wire in the lights to flash too and the doors to unlock with the key fob. I was amazed at how simple this was to install. Make sure to go buy some T – taps before you begin the install though.

It will make your life way easier. Also dont forget to get some 4 pin relays.

I wanted an alarm that I could install for my son’s 2001 GMC Sierra. Really did not want to spend too much on fancy stuff that he probably would not use anyway. We recently converted his truck from manual windows and locks to power.

We wanted something with keyless entry. This alarm fit the bill perfectly. It has you basic alarm features and keyless entry. Comes with built in shock sensor. Installation was pretty straight forward if you have some electronics experience with cars.

Very limited in what this alarm will do. One issue was the limited current outputs making any sort of switching only good for powering a relay. The light output is single wire meaning on my Toyota I had to use 2 relays to activate both left and right sides and the horn output needed a relay to handle the current draw as well.

Having said this once it was all wired in it works very well with excellent range in the remote and good sensitivity with the knock sensor. If you’re looking for a very basic alarm this might be suitable however investing a little more could save you many hours installation.

7345V DOES replace 7341V. This remote amazes me. It’s simple, but has so, so many functions. I love that it is 2 Way and , the remote itself, makes different chirping sounds for, either, the car alarm warning, or the car alarm fully sounding.

There is no need to keep an ear out for YOUR specific car alarm sounding. Your remote chirps as well. The remote seems to have decent range of up to, roughly 500ft. The only thing I don’t like, it the short lived 1x AAA battery life.

I get about 2 months out of the 1x AAA. For good replacements, I recommend using Energizer Lithium 1. 5 volt (disposable) batteries.

I had a older viper alarm on my civic when i purchased it 3 years ago. In the last month it started to act up, so i went ahead and bought this for a good upgrade. Received it in the mail in the morning, and had it installed within 2.

5 hours that same day. I couldn’t be more happier the way this alarm works. Tells me what door is open, shows me the signal strength, which is what i really was looking forward too. But all in all this alarm/remote start works great and have a perfectly working viper alarm again.

Update 11-29-17 just bought the wife the same alarm system and works perfect. Viper alarm systems certainly are the best out there. Now my wife and i have access to each others vehicles with the same key fob.

1 week into installing into my car (acura) whether it’d be cold or warm outside the remote start keeps turning my car on and off repetitively. I will remote start my car for 5 seconds, the car will shut off then try to turn on again and can stop there or turn off and on again for the next 15 seconds.

Remote does not have at least 1/4 mi of a range. I can be 4 car lengths from the car and it will send the car no signal. I can repetitively press the button and nothing will happen until I am in front of the car, less than 5ft away.

I will be at work, about 15 car lengths away from my car, my car will not receive any sort of signal from my remote. Whether it be remote start and simply arming/disarming. It sends the signal when it wants to.

Most definitely sends absolutely no signal to car if I’m more than 15 car lengths away.

I previously had the 5706v installed on my 2011 Dodge Charger and it fried after 3 years because of going the cheap route and paying a rookie installer $300 for the alarm plus install. It was a nest of wires underneath the steering wheel column were many wires were stripped and exposed.

I ended up going to a true professional and paid $1,000 to have the 5906v installed on my charger. The good thing is they back up their work 100% and have lifetime coverage on your system as long as you own your car.

Overall I’m very happy with the 5906v, the HD remote FOB is great and will last a lot longer than the 5706v remote. The 5906v remote is super responsive and is very loud when it comes to paging you. Pros Overall awesome alarm system.

It’s the top of the line that Directed electronics (Viper) can off and is the current flagship model as I’m typing this review. The antenna to the alarm system is the same one that’s used from the 5704v and 5901.

It has a 1 mile range that’s almost flawless and never fails to remote start. With the Dball3 bypass module I’ve notice it has a quicker disengage when your in the vehicle and shut off the remote starter compared to the Dball2.

Cons As wonderful as the HD remote is, it can be a pain to have a big fat remote attached to your car keys. Also in your pocket, because the main controls including the remote start button is facing forward, you can accidentally trigger the remote starter.

The remote is more sensitive and doesn’t really require you to push any buttons. To me it feels more like tapping a button so it can be the reason why I have issues of pushing the remote start button while inside my pocket.

Besides these pros and cons, I’m very happy with an awesome alarm system. Also another fun fact, if you want to easily upgrade to the 5906v without having to re wire and replace the brain of the alarm, all you have to do is buy the 6711T antenna and the 7944v HD viper remote and you can upgrade your system without breaking the bank for another alarm system.

If you really want to save money and still get something awesome from DEI python and Clifford are more affordable and can do the same thing. You can also get the 5706v which is the same as the 5906v besides the antenna and remote.

I know that thieves can still break into your car regardless, but at least the viper alarm is a great deterrent.

The Viper 5906 alarm system has been rated by many consumers as one of the best alarm system in today’s market. However, do not get your hopes too high yet. The Viper 5906V is far from its true reality of being one of the best.

Pros: Most of the development efforts was place of the key-remote control unit. This key-remote control has a nice little color screen with 16 different options to choose from (ex: silent arm or disarm, sensor bypass, remote start, remote valet, car finder).

A second basic remote control unit is included for convinience. Cons: the siren speaker looks and feels like a toy made by fishers-price (I recommend to purchase something bigger and better), the unit itself (Viper 5906) is difficult to install and instructions are not clear enough to follow, technical support is bad (poor service and e-mail replies are conducted once every 60 days), the sensor shock (stinger) can hardly detect movement even when setup to its maximum settings, the parameter sensor is poor calibrated and parameter radio zones can be broken extremely easy allowing the robber to break into the vehicle, when the alarm deploys, the warning signal sent to the key-remote unit can take up to 4-7 seconds.

The Viper 5906V was installed in my vehicle for a month now and I have been able to open, sit, and drive my vehicle for couple miles before the alarm goes off. I have tried many combinations with several position settings that I am just to the point to get this unit out of my vehicle and install something else.

Additionally, the range of one mile for remote start is more like 250 feet in good weather condition. So, there you have it. This is not my first alarm system ever installed. Cheaper alarm system from the local car part store can produce better outcomes for a lot less money! Good luck!.

I love my viper alarm. Now I feel safe leaving my classic car parked at the mall while I shop. I know Viper alarm is protecting my truck. Nothing else comes close.

I added this VSM550 to my DS4+ install to give me added options beyond the 1 button remote that came with the DS4+. The remote alone is limited to distance when using it in proximity to where your vehicle is located.

With this VSM550 module and the free app, your distance is unlimited for lock/unlock & remote start. I also added this as an option if I choose to terminate my OnStar subscription. Viper does offer a “Free Basic” plan that only locks/unlocks & remote start using Bluetooth.

I chose an “Annual’ plan for the LTE features and the added discount over the monthly plan. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants the added security and control of your vehicle from anywhere right from your mobile device.

As a bonus, there is an app for the Apple Watch that is similar to the iPhone app. In my use of the watch app, it appears it is not a standalone app that use the LTE service. It only works with the iPhone nearby.

For the few YouTube videos I’ve seen demonstrating this SmartStart app on the watch, the person has had the iPhone close by. Since my Apple watch has LTE service, it would have been nice to use the features of the watch app version w/o having my iPhone close by.

Installed a Smart Start 2018. 3G stopped 350. 00 for new Module +3yr plan. 1yr left on current plan lost. Customer Care Sucks. No installers deal with Viper anymore. Trying Drone starter. Very easy set up unlike Viper.

Loved the app. , at first. Viper made an update that requires toggling thru three pages (obviously after signing into phone) before you can start vehicle. Does not give option for facial recognition nor to opt out of process.

Viper said it was a security update. Horrible and lame idea that I cannot take responsibility for my own car.

Viper makes excellent systems. I’ve had mine in use for 2 months now and I’ve been incredibly pleased. I mainly got it to be able to have keyless entry in my car, but I’m also happy with how well the alarm works.

It not only will set the alarm off if you open a door, but it will also go off if anybody hits the car. The car also will not turn over while the car is armed. However, installation is not straightforward.

The paper says what each wire on the module is for. It also explains programming functions. Other than that, you’re on your own! If you don’t know anything about wiring, then you’re in for a ride. I will so though, that for me it was worth the effort.

It will take some outside information as well as some solid problem solving. I guess you could also pay for someone else to install it. but that’s no fun. Just get yourself a wiring diagram for your car, get ready to chop and splice wires, and get ready to tear your car apart.

in the end though, I love having it! It’s a great value, so no real complaints!.

I definitely recommend this product. I had an expert install the system for me. I really feel assured by the Failsafe Starter Kill and the Vehicle Recovery System. Failsafe starter kill does disable starter in case of hot wiring (didn’t try to hotwire but tried starting without disarming).

The VRS can shut down the car and trip off the alarm and lights in the event someone tries to jack you while driving, say in traffic maybe or if someone jacks you while going to your car and takes your keys/remote.

looking at the pics, it seems only this model (2015) comes with the small antenna/control centre for better range and response.

Unit works as advertised. However, there isn’t a way to stop the annoying “chirp” sound every time you remotely open and close the car’s door locks. So I bought and installed a $4 toggle switch from Home Depot on one of the wires going to the Viper’s included horn.

That stopped the power going to the Viper horn and I can always toggle the power back on at any time.

Awesome Alarm System! Viper is a good brand name when purchasing an alarm system. Installers find it easy to install and good technical help.

I purchased this alarm because I thought I was getting an original in the box viper 3305v, what I did receive was a more cheaper looking product I hope it works I havent installed it yet, The siring speaker looks like a toy lol they need to remove the image that they have to demonstrate what they going to sent you.

The quality is good but the unit has to have a bypass installed separate unless you have an old car. Installation instructions are so generic as to be virtually worthless. If you are planning to have it installed at a shop you will not be disappointed.

Been installing for 20yrs when you want something that just works and reliable, you cant go wrong with DEI products.

Awful product. Didnt come with any installation guide or anything. I understand every vehicle is different, but there wasn’t even as much as a piece of paper explaining what is what.

The best remote starter I ve used. I was pretty disappointed with the limited range of the dealer remote in my last car, so I went with Viper s 4706v. At over $600 with installation and tax it s still $100 less than the dealer installed remote.

Despite serious quality and interface deficiencies I d still recommend this remote and would buy it again. Pro:Outstanding range: Tonight I started my car from inside the back room in a restaurant almost a block away.

Feedback: I am able to know if my car got the message and if my car is running. Interruption free: I can seamlessly transfer from remote to key controlled and back without stopping the engine. That is I can start the car before I leave the house and drive away without stopping and starting the engine.

I can leave the car running but undrivable while I grab a coffee without stopping the engine. Con:Scratches. Low quality LCD screen scratches much too easily. I added a screen protector but it looks sloppy.

For that much money they could use quality materials. Interface flaws: The feedback paging doesn t really report on the true state of the car. If I lock the car with the 4706 then unlock it with the remote on my key, the display on the 4706 shows that the car is locked when in fact it s unlocked.

Weak engineering could have been straightened out. Overly complicated button lock: You can use command buttons directly and run the risk of accidental pressing or put it in auto-lock mode. In auto-lock mode you have to use two keys to unlock the remote before pressing a command.

A one button unlock would have protected against accidental commands and have been much easier to use. It is surprisingly clumsy to press two buttons then a third for command and almost impossible to do in your pocket.

Abysmal instructions: Like so many techy companies they didn t take time to write a clear manual. It s a simple device to use but the instructions make it seem more complicated than it is. You don t a get booklet but have to download a PDF.

That s annoying.

I love everything about the remote start. It does what i wanted it to do. Everything works great!! The Only thing i dont like about it is the 12 minues default run time. To me, that’s too short. If I can do something to fixd that, it will be fantastic.

I wish it was 30minutes default run time before it shut off.

I find myself covering the remote to see the screen in outdoor light. The screen is bright at first but after a year of use the screen color gets so dim to where its hard to read. The remote is durable tho yet bulky.

I think I may go back to the LCD remote because of this issues.

I have had several remote starters over the years. This one is the best for range, communication (2-way). It requires professional installation. People that complain that it doesn’t work have likely tried to do a self install without having any skills.

Remote starters are not Ikea tables! Mine worked first time and every time without fail from inside shopping malls, buildings etc.

Great experience, but I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t realize this was the older version of this model. The newer version has a rechargeable remote and does not require a remote start shut off switch.

Product was brand new as described, so was the DB3 bypass. Standard DEI install (few pleasant surprises, its been a while since Ive installed one of these) and the DB3 makes that with a T-harness (if you can find one) a breeze.

Great distance on the remotes as well.

No body in qatar no how to fix this device. Only one professional electretion knew about this device, but unfortunately the car didn’t work at the end so we re-fixed and put it in my house for sale. I am very sad that i spent arount 220 $ for noth.

I was skeptical at first on purchasing this alarm but I had a professional install it and it came out perfect I have zero complaints and for the price it’s on beatable I will buy another for my next work vehicle thank you guys very much extremely happy with my new alarm system.

I got the remote starter installed in my wife’s Nissan Rogue. First, I only purchase the remote starter with no additional remotes, to use with the car’s factory remotes and thru an app in my cell phone; it worked fine, but at short distance (about 25 feet) since the car’s remote or the blue tooth on the phone does not cover long distance.

Then I went back to buy the additional Viper remotes and it did improved the working distance, however, something was not working right because the car’s alarm started to go off. I went back to the installer, Rob, at the East Brunswick, NJ store and he took care of every thing for me and the system is now working good.

Rob is a great and pleasant person to work with. He explained everything I ask and he was very professional. He is very meticulous about his work. Good Job Rob!.

This base unit does what it is supposed to do however you really need to purchase remote control key fobs. I purchased the very basic remote control key fobs that have one button, and I am pleased with the set up.

I did try setting up the phone app to use the base unit’s Bluetooth connectivity and it was useless. I was able to start and control my car from within 10 feet of the car while on the driveway, however once I went inside the house I lost connectivity to the car.

When I was only 15 feet away from the car, inside my house and separated by one wall, I was unable to start the car. If I did not purchase the separate remote controls, I would be disappointed in this.

I went to another location where the technician corrected all of the issues I was experiencing, and without any pressure, I purchased 2 additional remote fobs that day. He stayed late to make sure I was able to start the car with the remotes as well as the app.

Now this works like a charm. I can start my car from my office and various locations and on a freezing day like today, it’s money well spent. I locked my keys in the car and was able to use the app to unlock the doors.

The app has limitations as far as distance, but I use it when my keys are in the garage and don’t feel like going downstairs to start the car. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with PC Richards Management in ensuring that the issues I had were corrected! Thank you.

Installation of a remote start is extremely difficult. I needed 13 different connections to get the features of this remote start system to work, you may need more depending on your vehicle and what you want out of it.

The system itself is great and Viper has made a great product here. The remotes have good range and seem durable enough. The “Pit Stop” feature is nice and works well enough to cool the truck after towing.

I like the fact that you can choose to lock or unlock without an audible horn even if that feature is turned on. The analog tach works well enough to get my old diesel going even when it is frigid outside and the truck needs to crank longer.

For the price, this is very hard to beat.

I installed in my sons 4runner and works great. I would say this is not an easy install and needed additional key immobilized bypass box(IDAT-ALINK REMOTE START & DATABUS INTERFACE) in order for the product to work.

I would say to do your homework before purchasing. My son doesn’t know he is getting the remote start for Christmas. He has been driving around with it installed and doesn’t even know. We will be wrapping up the remotes for Christmas.

He will put it to good use here in the Northeast Ohio winters. I bought a second one for my wife’s Infiniti which will be my next project.

I have put car starters on before. They came with better wiring directions and color code charts for you vehicle. And if you go online at viper site you can’t get info. If you are not a dealer that spends over 2000.

00 dollars a quarter for the year you can not login or call and get any help. Would not recommend. Last one I bought came with CD showing in detail. After you get it shows you Will need extra relays for around 35.

i already had a viper alarm the brain had malfunctioned so I needed this unit to replace it and at the price I paid for it I now have extra remotes in case anything ever happens to them. Over all great alarm system and am more than happy with my purchase.

Easy installation, system is functional. However, the 3 pin plug has two sockets would accept it, the only design imperfect.

I was excited about having a remote starter for my 2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch Truck and spent sometime deciding which one to get. I heard great things about the viper remote starter. I’m not sure what the issue is but sometimes when I start the truck up it turns off and restarts several times which I’m sure it should not do.

When using the app I can select start and it says can’t connect to the vehicle so naturally it should not start the vehicle, however it does start. The installer left a wire hanging from under the steering wheel as well.

I traveled a long distance to have it installed due to long appointment wait times at a store closest to me, but I don’t want to go back to that same location. I’m sure the system works well but I’m not confident in the installation and I now I’m leery of taking it back or bringing it to another location so they can fix what the other guy don’t do correct.

I disappointed because I have to take more time off in order for someone else to fix what should have been done right the first time.

I bought this, well as other Viper products. My security system was disabled by a mechanic doing a repair on my car. They couldnt figure it out and i had also been looking at this product for a while.

I had this, an upgraded remote, the GPS and 4G module, and upgraded security system installed. It is one of the best purchases ive ever made. Im. Ot always near my car when i want to start it or unlock it for a friend or family member.

This product works great as a standalone, but it better with everything else. The only complaint I have is where the installer put the siren and the wire running to the siren. They ran the wire across the bar in my engine bay that needs to be removed when doing certain repairs.

I have an old 2010 Ford Escape, and this was the only remote start system that is compatible with my car. The installation at Best Buy took around 3 hours, so it’s best to have someone pick you up as there is no waiting area.

I have giving a 1 star review for two reasons: 1) I keep getting an error that my car hood is open, but the hood isn’t actually open. Because of this error, the remote start doesn’t actually start my car and I need to return to Best Buy to have them fix this issue.

2) The remote that comes with this kit is absolutely terrible. I thought I would be fine with a 1-way remote with limited range since my car is parked in front of my house where I can easily see it, but the remote is very finnicky and does not work reliably.

I will need to pay an additional $120 to upgrade the remote.

The 479V is OEM for Viper alarm systems, but also interchangeable for other legacy DEI (Directed) alarm systems which are equivalent. I used the 479V as a replacement for a 479X on my Clifford RSX3. 5 system and it paired with zero problems.

The only difference is the packaging/branding of the fob. The 479V is equal to both the 479X (Clifford) and 479P (Python) fobs and compatible with these legacy alarm systems: Viper: 561XV, 790XV, 791XV, 690XV, 691XV, also Python: 880XP, 881XP, 680XP, 581XP, as well as Clifford Matrix RS III, RSX3.

5, 2. 5X and RSX1. 5. These are no longer manufactured and more difficult to find – expect to pay around $100 for one new.

Appears to be a brand new, original DEI replacement case, and excellent value with the holster clip included. Elsewhere the clip alone sells for nearly the same price as this entire package. Would definitely recommend if your old case needs replacing.

This one has the short antenna stub, which my original remote had as well, so was an exact fit.

We are actually having issues connection it with our security system but that is user error more than likely. The security system keeps going into dead modes now. Transmitter is over $200 from viper.

They are ten years old so it was nice to see this one looks brand new at a fraction of the cost.

Viper remote start alarm with 2 way pager remote works great the range works really far no more cold car when I go to work in the morning also I feel a little more comfortable knowing I have the alarm that pages me just in case someone breaks into my car.

Had my viper professionally installed, I am very satisfied. It is of good value and gives me piece of mind.

I feel like DEI products have lost some of their appeal. I grew up with DEI viper products and they were very high quality but now they seem a bit water down. This system is not bad but is not great either.

The one button remote is horrible, so if you buy this system do your self a favor and buy the better extra five button remote. You will save your self a headache. You can also buy the alarm add on for this RS system.

Make sure to talk with an experienced live autotech to see if this system is compatible with your vehicle. Do not trust anyone else even if they work for Best Buy, or you will get the wrong information.
