20 Best Virtual Dj Controller (2022 Updated)

I have purchased so many mixers over the years at guitar center. they have all been mostly good with a few cons here and there. That said, I have never felt the need to write a review for any of them (although I might go back and get comprehensive on a couple of especially good ones and a couple of especially bad ones.

) I had to add some balance for this mixer, as the only review is just full of assumptions, prejudice It sounds “downer” even on the points they like(?). Based on the “still thinking about taking it back” comment it would seem it sure is soon to be so full of critique.

People are entitled to their opinions but when there is only one review, it can really hurt the view from a potential buyer- and with this mixer, that would be wrong. If anyone buys this mixer and takes the time to try it out THEN comes to the same conclusion, then that’s great, but please, the review damning this unit to 3 stars is simply too full of assumptions and hardly any facts, I’ve had plenty of time with the mixer and I am outside of the “take it back” zone.

It’s not perfect, but with the XLR connections combined with my JBL 305p MKII studio monitors, it sounds SO good. The built-in TIDAL, Beatport LINK, Beatsource LINK, and. SoundCloud (not a fan) it has got your music covered, even before you plug in a USB drive loaded with your music from bpm supreme, doing the damage, or one of the other quality record pools for dj music sources – you do get your music from those proper sources, right? – if you don’t then that’s your prerogative, but you’ve forfeited your right to make credible statements about the sound quality output on any unit.

“If you drop it, it is a done deal” – If you drop your unit and it smashes to pieces please report back. It seems very durably built to me. “No Aux Input” at the price point that’s a non-issue, and it doesn’t ‘claim’ to have one.

Any controller over 500 USD needs a case- so that we agree on. Give this controller a shot, it’s nice.

In summary, this is a superb piece of kit for the money! All in one DJ package without the need of a laptop, dj software and speakers. To be honest, the speakers are really good for bedroom djing or if you’re like me djing in the dining room and would probably do well at small gatherings/house parties! However with the RCA and XLR outputs, hooking this up to some decent speakers is very much possible if you’re djing at a bigger event.

The built in Engine DJ software is very intuitive and I was able to get up and running very quickly. The settings options allow for a load of config too. I was able to connect to my Wifi and get streaming in less than a couple minutes.

Streaming-wise, I prefer beatport link but the other options are good too. For info, I pay 9. 99 per month for the professional package of beatport link, which suits my needs. The user interface is sleek and easy to use whilst the touch screen is very responsive with a nice and crisp display.

The only thing I’ve not been able to get working is my USB stick but I reckon it’s an issue with my stick rather than with the deck itself. Jog wheel/platters, pots, switches etc all feel solid and overall the deck is built to a high standard.

I’m very happy with my purchase though there are couple of minor improvements (effects based) that am hoping a software update might solve: – effects. There are only 4 built in effects, echo, delay, phaser and flanger.

If additional effects can be added then that would be a massive improvement. I have to say though the paddle switch for enabling/disabling the effects is amazing! – effects beat tempo/mapping. At the moment this is locked to 1 beat, the ability to change this on the fly would be good though not sure how this is going to be achieved.

The echo effect at 1 beat is not the best in my opinion though this is down to preference I guess I’ve not yet used the lighting controls but have a Philips Hue setup at home so am hoping it’s easy to use – I’ve seen videos of it in use and looks fairly simple enough, though I don’t have much of a requirement for it at the moment.

After watching several youtube reviews that point out an issue with the effects and mic, the following issues seem to have been addressed sometime in the past year with the release of Engine OS 2. 2.

2: – Importantly, the effect buttons DO have user adjustable parameters on the touchscreen and automatically appear at the bottom of the screen without having to hunt through menus – Mic EQ can be adjusted in the settings Engine OS and the DJ software take a tiny bit of getting used to but to get music playing and try some basic transitions it is not a huge learning curve.

PC software was simple enough to figure out how to import my mp3 collection. Also as you dive a bit deeper into Engine OS, and PC s/w you will realize that the search feature is quite good. InMusic devices have an impressive touch interface.

I am with the reviewers in thinking a booth output and XLR jacks would be good improvements with a next iteration device. I’ll throw in that an internal hard-drive expansion would as well. But for the price point I can see why those are not included.

For more of the pro crowd, vs pro-sumer, they could have metal case,drop the speakers and go with 8 pads, and an aux in. The speakers sound very good for what they are intended for. There is a lot to be said for standalone, no-fuss devices that just work less than a minute after you power them on.

I will use it to learn DJ techniques, but for now the included ability to play a playlist is a welcome feature.

Loving this so far. It’s a great way to get my feet wet in terms of learning to spin, scratch, mix, and create mashups; however, in just a few weeks I feel like I am already outgrowing it. Small, light, and portable, and cheap enough that I don’t mind if it gets dinged up too much, but I will probably upgrade in the near future.

Good for: Beginners who want to stay beginners or just use as a hobby Bad for: Beginners who want to continue to grow. Had I known what I know now about controllers, I probably would have gotten something a little higher end, but this still serves its purpose and will make a solid backup when I do upgrade.

Its a great controller and looks are amazing. But the features i need it lacks. That said it makes a great DJ controller and if you have some experience with blending music using the temple controllers and this is the mixer/controller for you.

I am disabled and can only use one hand so I need something that has a good sync button and keeps in time with tunes automatically. This one does that but not to my liking. Maybe a future firmware update will help this machine keep in sync of little better.

For the price it’s alright, especially as a first controller, but the pitch/tempo slider will drift mid song which can really ruin a smooth transition. Not to mention the scratch button is just a decorative feature that’s only function is to light up, after about a week it stopped turning off scratch all together.

Not really sure about the auto loop feature either. wouldn’t it be a better idea to have the pads load loops attached to a track instead of eight pads to do the sole function of starting a 1/16th beat loop arbitrarily without the option to save the loop to the track? I dunno man.

Just some stuff that felt far more superficial in design than functional.

My boyfriend had the previous version of this so he already had the computer program and some familiarity with this. He has a blast. He’s not a professional DJ at all and we only use this here at home so I can’t speak to anyone wanting to use it for anything other than that, but it really is a lot of fun.

He said the program was easy to install and it was up and running in no time. This is not a device I know much about in regards to other DJ equipment out there so I have nothing to compare it to, but again I will say we have a lot of fun with it.

I can live my middle aged dream of being a famous DJ right in the comfort of my spare room. What more could you want? If your man is into that sort of thing this would be a great little surprise for him.

Mine has added all sorts of stuff and even records himself for his YouTube channel using this. So that’s gotta count for something! Honestly it’s fun. It’s no high dollar DJ equipment but for what we wanted, this is absolutely perfect.

This was my first controller after spending years mixing only with vinyl. I’ve used Numark in the past, and was pleasantly surprised by the build quality of this controller. The DJ2GO2 Touch is solid and the faders and knobs are all nice and sturdy.

The buttons have a soft rubbery feel, and retain a good level of tactile feedback without being too squishy. Due to the size of this controller, it only has the bare minimum – 2 channels, cues, crossfader, Transport/load controls and 4 performance pads – there is no EQ, filter or effects.

Given the size and price of this though, you get more than enough value for money. It more than does the job and is easily small enough to fit in your bag and take anywhere you want. It comes bundled with a copy of Serato Lite and a USB cable, which is all you need to get up and running.

Brilliant piece of kit. Install drivers first, then plug it in and then start Traktor and assign which deck it is to control by turning the pot on the right side centre above the browse button. 4 of the pads will flash green in each quadrant you move to A, B, C or D and then pushed the button in.

Assign the Deck you chose on the F1 in Traktor as a Remix Deck and that’s it. Play along after loading a Remix Set from NI or one that you have made yourself from loops and one shots. Fun!.

This is a good bit of kit. Arrived a couple of days after order. Definitely smaller than I thought it would be. As I am purely an entry level Dj, this is great for showing you how to do learn the ropes.

From song assistant, to the light indicators showing you the tempo etc, my only gripe is that it s a little bit plasticy. So I can t give it a full 5, but, thoroughly enjoying practicing on this.

Software, good. hardware, quite very nice. nice footprint. I intend this to be my backpack-capable backup controller. If you have a better option, let me know. I’ve tried the Starlight. forget it. filter gets confused with the bass (same knob).

Added this to my S11 mixer and 1210mk2 DVS setup. Having the extra pads means that I can have pad effects/slicers effects running on the XP2 while using hot cues/scratch bank on the S11 pads. The strips and silent cue are also useful features.

Really opens up the possibilities for live remixing and creative transitions. Item arrived next day with free delivery.

First off, I’m a former Red Bull 3Style US Finalist, so with all the advanced mixing myself and many others do, I can honestly say you’ll be able to do it all with this controller and not have to ever worry about what mixer they have at the venue you’re performing at.

The build is very sturdy, and can definitely take a beating. The MANY MANY features and modes this midi pad has compliments what you’re trying to achieve, whether it’s with Serato or Rekordbox. Silent cue point is game changing, the ability to have your sample player AND cue points is game changing, the ability to midi map 16 pads on each side is game changing, the Xp2 is just a game changer, period.

I highly recommend this product. You’ll be happy you jumped on this.

The DDJ XP2 is an awesome for my ddj1000 RB it gives you so much extra that could help to become an excelente DJ it has plenty of features that can help with looping hot cues and so much more I highly recommend this tool for the beginner through professional DJ’s and getting from American Music Supply with their in house financing completes the whole package ?? definitely give them a try you won’t regret it!!!!.

Slightly different angle for this review. I purchased this controller because I already have an S4 Mk3 and I wanted to be able to have a similar smaller controller that allowed me to DJ totally mobile – no mains power*.

I use this Kontrol S2 Mk3 with a USB powerbank and Traktor DJ2 on my iPad. It’s a truly mobile setup and early tests show the whole setup will run for well over six hours completely standalone when using a decent quality USB powerbank.

The S2 will be very familiar for Traktor users and I love the simplicity and portability of this unit. Sure, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the S3 or S4 but it has everything you need to rock a party outside – or everything you need to rock a party when you’re a beginner just starting out.

Absolutely recommend this controller. Well built, comes with a full Traktor Pro 3 licence (or the free TDJ2 app) and a bargain price. *my PA speakers are MAUI 5 GO, perfect for garden parties, etc :-).

Very happy with my purchase. Firstly, as always, the product arrived quickly and well packaged. The mixer is great quality and doesn’t seem flimsy or cheaply made. So far I’ve used it with my imac and it works well.

You get a license for traktor pro included with the purchase and the controller is instantly intergrated. I’ve had to tweak a few settings to my likings but anyone who’s experienced with djing will have no issues using this controller.

All round, I’m very happy with my purchase and the service from PMT.

I use this product in the studio, mainly for sound design, but will come in handy for family gatherings when they need a DJ. I bought it as a replacement for one of the original S2’s that I had so many problems with.

Things to know: 1. The USB port is a tight fit. Be careful when connecting/disconnecting your provided cable. 2. Jog wheels are much bigger/better than previous versions. 3. The new layout seems to flow a whole lot better than previous versions.

4. The software upgrade does not appear to be buggy at all. NI has already pushed an update for improved performance, so it seems they are starting off dedicated to keeping things stress-free. 5. NO 1/4 TRS OUTS, if you are a fan.

Just RCA OUTS and a couple of others like Headphones, etc. 6. NO POWER ADAPTER PROVIDED. As for the power adapter, is it even an issue? Maybe, maybe not. I’m not sure because it powers up fine from a USB 2.

0 port with no problems in performance. I’m still exploring. I’m thinking about getting one just to have it just to see if it has any effect on overall performance. The only problem I have had was that I got no sound when I hooked up the S2 MK3 to a free channel on a client’s system and got no sound during a sound check.

I eventually configured the sound to run off my laptop sound card and everything worked just fine. I verified that it worked on my equipment back at the lab so I’m not sure what was going on there. If you decide to run the S2 MK3 sound card for the Audio Device in Preferences, make sure you turn up the GAIN on the channels and be generous with the MASTER volume in order to get some decent output.

So I come from a background using Traktor and Serato as DJ Software, I prefer Traktor overall but as I’m tired of lugging gear around 😀 I’ve wanted to go to a standalone for a while now. First up the djkit pump: I had my eyes on a Prime 4 when it was first released but it’s out of my budget so I waited and when the prime 2 came out, it was still a bit pricey, then the GO and Numark Mixstream came out and I got happy, I ordered a Mixstream Pro and while it was out of stock I was happy to wait for it to come back in, While I was waiting the ‘price drop’ to 999 came in.

a stretch but I called and asked if they’d allow me to up my purchase and swap to a Prime 2 and DJ Kit graciously allowed me to do that and then sent it next day delivery. I purchased my MC6000Mk2 from DJ Kit about 7 years ago so it was about time to upgrade and so far, it’s such a nice piece of kit, everything just works smoothly, the jog wheels are amazing, the sound quality is great, it feels like it could take a tank shell.

Now the small ‘bad’ is the Engine DJ software has taken a week or two to get used to, but I have an SSD with my main collection in the Prime 2 and I just connect and manage that through the engine software on my PC, now I’m used to it, it’s pretty easy to manage.

Before I was using my library on my PC and just getting confused with moving it across to my drive in the Prime, which already HAD the collection on it (It was a backup drive) it was just confusing so I just added the backup drive (now in the prime 2) as the main collection and that’s sorted the issue as they are mirrors anyway.

Tidal integration works perfectly, so I use my phone as a hotspot and it can take a few seconds to analyse a track but once it’s in, it’s in and it gets added to your hard drive so you can use it even if offline.

I presume only if you have a Tidal account. Overall I’m very pleased with my upgrade and it’s going to get plenty of use over the next few weeks. Thanks DJ Kit and Thanks Denon. 5 Stars for the prime 2, 4 stars for Engine DJ as it STILL needs a little work.

@imnotyouraveragedj here, Directly After purchasing my first mixer the numark party mix controller to get me started, I knew I was not only taking DJ seriously but also that this journey is going to take me to places I’ve imagined and soon I’d need a controller to compliment my style.

We all know that the DDJs are in high demand across the globe and I had my heard set on the DDJ1000 from the wheels to the beat pad and colors scheme. Unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to take on that relationship but was quickly introduced to the DDJFLX6.

Didn’t know too much about it at all. Frankly I didn’t have it on my radar lol. My conscious said “listen to the A. M rep and purchase it!” So I did. Wow ?? is an under statement. It’s every a DJ needs especially when your you know your sound and style but need great practice and to build skill in specific areas on equipment.

The sleekness of the controller the the polished wheels and deep navy and black color, it’s light weight and demands respect in the industry with its features not only having serato as compatible software but Recordbox as well.

The DDJFLX6 gives the beginner and the veteran DJ the opportunity to showcase uniqueness and versatility without limitations. Sure the preference may very but with this controller doesn’t fall far from the tree!.

For how much I spent on this thing I really was hoping it would be a better product. Really this is just a way to get money out of people I think it looks as impressive as a DDJ 1000 in some respects, however it’s made out of a very very cheap feeling material very light, I’m apprehensive to even bring it out due to the fact that I feel if I dropped it it would be obliterated.

They try to pitch the merge effects and jaw cutter mode but really these are just hype, while the jogcutter is kind of neat I think I would have rather paid less money and not had that feature. The same goes for the merge effects which honestly even after watching people online do videos using them I don’t understand why you would put a giant pause in unless I had two decks playing at the same time I don’t know I just can’t seem to make sense of it.

Maybe I’m just simple minded or maybe I’m too busy trying to just mix the songs with the regular effects now because I can’t trust the merge effects. Once again great in concept but does not turn out too great in application as far as I’m concerned.

It’s basically the same kind of hardware as the DDJ 400 and by that I’m referring to like the knobs and faders. I had a few different numark units, and even though they were cheaper and Newmark doesn’t support their hardware very well the faders were like butter like they were the most high end I could ever have found I still think about them to this day.

Why Pioneer would not use a little bit nicer of a fader on this piece of gear I have no idea. Once again just to get money out of people’s my guess. Also they tout how it is compatible with both Serato and record box but it’s clearly just designed for rekordbox.

I have both and I enjoy using both DJ softwares for separate things but trying to use Serato with this controller is very confusing considering the fact that it is set up for rekordbox and there is no way to tell right away, no map or guide to show you how it translates.

Disappointed.

I was super excited about this product because you get alot of the features Mobile DJs are looking for in a mobile controller yet do not have to pay ALOT of money for. Out of the box it looks AMAZING.

large jog wheels, buttons, etc everything is of GREAT quality and it plays very smoothly. When i hook it up to my mac and used SERATO i knew it would bit a BIT of a learning curve so I wasnt worried about it.

I began playing around and trying to use the new mixer features only to become frustrated because it was not working correctly. I looked up other videos to try and help me and then I noticed that most DJs were using Rekordbox and not Serato to use the product.

Even though it does work with Serato, it doesnt offer the same easy features that Rekordbox offers. So unless you want to learn rekordbox id advise you to stay clear of this.

I’ve had the controller for little bit over a month now, so I had time to adjust to it. At first it felt overwhelming with all of the buttons and Rekordbox software but after some time and tutorials, you can adjust.

As soon as you adjust you can start mixing things up with the effects sections and 16 pads for more creativity. A major selling point for me was 4 channels and basically having the full size CDJ jog wheels.

The unit itself has a plastic build but it feels very well built and can easily tell that it will last for years to come. The Rekordbox software has a lot of information on the screen, I do wish they added a simplified skin or set up for beginners.

If your in the market for a controller with no budget, I would recommend this controller to get the most out of all features available for the price point. With Denon Dj stepping up there game, I can see that Pioneer DJ will as well within the next couple years.

This is an absolutely fantastic controller – it’s effectively a DJM750mk2 mixer (which costs the same price as this controller on its own!) attached to a pair of full sized CDJ2000-style platters with all the usual controller goodies such as a set of assignable pads – these can be used for hot cues so there are no missing features that I can see from the standalone players.

The mixer and FX can be used completely standalone and has 4 channels which are completely assignable to external inputs with no laptop connected if you so wish. It’s even compatible with DVS if you connect turntables but will require an additional purchase of Rekordbox control vinyl and a license (£99 at time of writing).

One of the new features on this controller is the displays in the middle of the platter, replacing the traditional CDJ platter ring indicator, this shows the waveform, cue points, BPM and other information.

This means the only time the DJ needs to look at the laptop screen is for selecting a track (which can be done via the CDJ-style track selection controls), which avoids tempation to stare at a laptop which is not a good habit to develop for anyone wishing to DJ out in public.

There are obviously a few compromises to be made, some controls are missing (notably the parameter setting on the color FX section, and no “time” pot on the FX channel), but really there are very few compromises, and I prefer the assignable pad-based setup to the hot cue buttons on the standalone CDJs.

As is typical with a controller, some settings have been moved from physical buttons (e. g. vinyl brake/start parameters and crossfader), which is not an issue but requires a bit of forethought. Overall though, this is extremely close to the club standard setup (CDJ2000nx2/DJM900nxs) for a fraction of the price.

As always with Pioneer kit, build a and sound quality is top notch. The Rekordbox software has come a great distance since launch and it’s been 100% stable in my use with no crashes or drop outs. I highly recommend this controller for anyone looking to get used to the “club standard” setup without breaking the bank.

At a touch over £1000, its still pricey, but when you compare to other similar Pioneer products (XDJ-RX2 is 50% more and only 2 channels, admittedly it’s a standalone unit not a controller but who doesn’t own a laptop these days?).

This controller is just great! I need a while color since I have mostly in black. This is just a change of atmosphere as I will be using this only at home. If you plan to DJ with your iPhone or your iPad, this one is for you.

Love this controller. Not to flashy. Has all I need to DJ. Great for portability. Still trying to see how I can get it connected to my android device. If I did, I would of gave it 5 stars. Other than that, its a great product.

Plus, you get a full RekordboxDJ license with it.

Easy to set up and a lot of fun to use. Perfect for the hobby DJ and I guess for professional use too.

Digitaldjtips does a great review on this ddj controller on YouTube. But here is my 2p. This is a high quality controller. I upgraded from the ddj-sb3 and so needed a serato ddj. The ddj1000-srt fit the bill.

The good. Overall great layout Much bigger tempo sliders for easier tempo matching Great feeling controls Even better fx Super responsive platters The not so good The 4 beat loop. it should either be a 16 beat loop, or the two buttons to the left should extend and reduce the loop rather than having to press shift as well.

Phil Morse covers this in more detail. That said. Using the controller is a joy overall and I would recommend it for someone looking to step up from the sb3.

Overall: This unit has the classic pioneer mixer effects format, 2 usb inputs as most professionals run two laptops as a safe measure as well as the magvel fader which makes up for the previous DDJ-SX models.

Platters are finally a standard size and the price point is ideal as installing an aftermarket fader would cost you some money on the older DDJs. Solid unit and the best bang for your buck as well as functional as a standalone mixer if using vinyl or other devices.

If the platters moved then I would be even happier. Sound quality is great like all pioneer products.

My 6 years old son started showing some serious interest into DJ software and equipment so I decided to give DDJ 200 a try. I have retired from entertainment industry years ago but still feel excited about the music and technology.

I wanted to see if both, my son and I can rock that highly affordable piece of hardware that comes with nice software, too. I tested it for a few hours last night and was really impressed with the amount of features.

There is one main reason why my boy and I decided to return it: mono sound if you need to pre-cue your songs. The unit itself does not have on-board headphone jack so in order to monitor the next-up song you need to split stereo sound from your phone / computer (using provided cable) into one mono channel for main speakers and one mono channel for your headphones.

The quality of what your audience hears is highly degraded as, you know, it is a mono sound. If you are the beginner who strictly relies on the software to create that seamless transition and you don’t need to use the headphones – DDJ 200 is the perfect unit for you and you will benefit from stereo sound.

I am buying DDJ 400 once available – for $100 more it offers way more bang for the buck.

Perfect addition to any DVS setup to give you instant access to transport controls, effects, cue points, and more. The touch strip is very versatile and useful tool. The one thing I wish you could do is set the touch strip to control the pitch fader instead of just nudge.

Sometimes I like to do crazy pitch changes during a mix and stay in synch.

If you need quick nav access to your library, nice solid cue buttons, insanely simple and obvious loop control, and solid and responsive fx mapping, this controller solves all those problems along with quick nav of tracks, and micro alignment when beat matching.

Add in the Chroma Caps and it feels super solid. Even with my pioneer controller this is a great fx/navigational add-on. I’m scare to buy the F1 because then I’ll just spend all my time pounding on buttons and loving it.

This controller is awesome, and in my opinion better than the MK2 in some points, and obviously depending on the kind of DJ you are. If you’re a Scratch DJ it is perfect: you don’t need the Play Button, just the Hotcues buttons; and if you’re a controller DJ, having this to mix just two decks is as useful as if you use timecode, you can use your keyboard for cue and play while you use all the hot cues on the X1.

With a little bit of mapping it is such a perfect controller, and is better if you have a Kontrol S4 or S2. I do recommend this controller to the guys who want a perfect controller for Traktor and for other programs such Ableton or Serato :).

I purchase the Rev7 and was one of the lucky ones to receive it early. What peaked my interest was the platters feeling like 1200’s. the feel is great you have to tweak a few settings and play with it to make it your own.

remember it is a battle system in which I’m not a battle DJ. I have only took it out once to a gig and trust me everyone who saw this unit asked a lot of questions during the party LOL. I’m still using my SX2 because its a easier system for me to navigate, but once I get use to my Rev 7 it’s on a cracking.

This controller is great I love it it really feels like if I have my turntables with me on the go. The sound that come out if this thing is one of the best I have Hurd from any mixer or controller even the 900 nx2 “the club Standard mixer” some people complain that it’s to heavy but if your used to carrying around turn tables this is nothing.

I would recommend this to anyone who is in a market for a new controller.

I finally got my hands on the Rev 7 from Guitar Center. This controller has been selling out and overprice from many of the sites. My opinion this is one of the greatest controllers. A battle style controller I can enjoy giggin’ with.

Bought this almost 10 months ago. I’ve loved DJ’ing since I was a kid (80s) and always wanted some Technic 1200s and a mixer. But for whatever reason that never happened (yet) I decided to get something lower priced to test the waters before I drop 3k on 2 1200s and a Rane mixer.

This is GREAT for the price. 1. it comes with a full version of Serato DJ Pro, no Serato video, flip or all the FX’s. But it’s a good upgrade over the non Pro version. 2. The platters are good sized, nowhere near the size of 12″ vinyl, but still bigger than a lot of controllers.

3. platters feel surprisingly good, especially considering the low price of this unit. 4. Fader’s pretty good, it’s not flimsly and it moves smooth. 5. The Roland Drum Kits are actually fun, The 808 model has an actual 16 step sequencer.

But, once you get the controls down here. You can bang out some great beats using the 8 pads, well 16 since there’s a right and left set. This is legit cool, and I don’t think any other DJ controller on the market has anything like this.

6. The buttons are laid out well and things are intuitively. While I have played with a few friends 1200 s setup a few times. I don’t know jack about DJ’ing and had never used Serato before this. While there was a learning curve, it didn’t take too for things to start to feel natural.

7. Build qualities good, far better than I would expect for $299 – with a full version of Serato Pro. It’s a lot of plastic but doesn’t feel cheap to me/ This isn’t a perfect unit, but I think for the price anything I feel it’s missing can’t be dinged by me because it’s not a high end, or even a mid level unit.

The 808 has things I wish this did, but at 4x the price I can’t be mad at what’s not here. I know a lot of DJ’s swear by Pioneer. I’d recommend this unit to someone who’s on a budget and wants to get into DJ’ing in a heartbeat.

You really can do a lot with it.

The controller is great when working properly. Setup with serato was a breeze, mine included a 3-month subscription to BPM Supreme as well as seratoDJ Pro, which are both great values and get you started off great as a beginner.

The left jog wheel on my controller becomes unresponsive at random times. It will not react to touch or scratching, and it interchanges with the Play button sometimes becoming unresponsive as well. It almost makes the controller unplayable, because it happens randomly, and as a beginner, I learned to mix with my left hand, and it’s unfortunate that I cannot use it.

Just bought my F1 and I am having so much fun. Do not forget to download the remix sets on NAtive Instruments website, the have a pack with about 20 sets for free. Then enjoy the experience. It takes a few minutes to go through the controls and understand how it works all together.

Even for people who are not familiar with the Native Instrument DJ controllers, it is accessible to anybody. Just play with the knobs and buttons and you’ll get the hang of it really quickly. The only frustration you’ll have is not buying two of them.

As many mentioned before, having to switch decks back and forth can be a pain the axe BUT if you custom the pad yourself, you’ll be able to access the samples you want to play almost if not instantly.

Great product! I can’t wait to use it at its full potential someday.

The Good: The F1 is a solid controller. It works perfectly right out of the box and is recognized by Traktor as soon as you plug in the USB. It is the easiest way to get full control over the remix decks.

Things like copying sounds from the sampler to a remix deck and editing sounds on the fly are only capable with the F1 as far as I know. The Bad: The pads are flat and unresponsive. If you come from a production background you will be completely unimpressed with the bounce back.

Surprising because much cheaper controllers have much better feeling pads. You can’t control more than one deck in a session. This to me is offensive. I feel like this decision was made mainly to get you to buy a second and possibly more units.

I did not appreciate this decision from NI. The most frustrating thing about the F1 for me though was how you can’t stop playback of a sound column without either stopping the entire deck or adding a silent sound to the column and selecting that.

Really annoying, especially since the midi-fighter supports this with it’s default remix deck mapping. This last issue is mainly due to a limitation of using a track deck as a sample trigger. Since you are basically using glorified cue points to trigger samples, each column ( not row ) can only play one sound at a time so as soon as you hit another sound in the column it automatically cuts off the sound you were just playing.

This becomes problematic when finger drumming out patterns since you miss the release and sustain of samples like a fat 808. You can get around this by adding samples you intend to play in the same kit to different rows of a remix deck.

Bottom Line: I am torn. I would much rather use a midi-fighter for remix decks, but having the F1 work right out of the box without ever needing to tinker with mappings or worry about NI breaking your controller set up in the future is pretty nice.

If they made the pads half way decent, allowed you to control more than one remix deck in a session ( switch control to another deck ) and surfaced a way to stop a sound column I wouldn’t be as remorseful.

This is a great addition to my Traktor S2 Mk3. Giving me extra control over the remix decks on Traktor Pro 3. I like the idea of building up my studio in individual units rather than having one unit for all.

This way I can mix and match the functions I want. I will be sure to buy the FX with the same unit format very soon.

I am using this at home to learn DJing, and it’s perfect for that, it has enough buttons and switches so you can learn how to DJ. The tempo bars are a little small, but not too small, the buttons for hot cues are also a bit small, but that doesn’t affect their responsiveness.

Overall, this is a very good controller. The jog wheels are super responsive, and there doesn’t seem to be any lag, the weight of the wheels is perfect. They’re also larger than other ‘entry level’ dj controllers.

The controller is adjustable in the firmware, with a special setup mode to change aspects of how it works. The effects paddles are an excellent feature, and I don’t know how they can get away charging so little for so much! You don’t get rekordbox or serato pro (you do get serato lite) w/ it but it works with other software that supports midi mapping.

3 band eq, filters, trim for both channels – vinyl mode and a mic input that adds to the audio stream means it’s great for streaming DJs (mic level should be a twisty on the top). Overall, if you don’t already have a dj controller, this is the one you get.

This is two first for me. my first time shopping with idjnow and purchasing a pioneer controller and both was a great experience. I have been working with the DDJ-Rev1 for about a month now and it has yet to disappoint.

Out of all the controllers I have used as a beginner dj this by far has been the best and easiest one. Im definitely hooked on both pioneer and idjnow.

I love my new dj equipment. It’s awesome even though I’m just learning to use it but I’m learning a lot of new things that I didn’t know about mixing music. It’s a fun hobbyists for me.

The Numark DJ2GO2 does everything you’d expect from a controller at this price point. and everything it’s spec’d to do. Serato Intro is a “decent” operating system, and is free to the market. but certainly not robust enough to routinely gig with.

The controller itself is small – which is what I wanted – and the integrated soundcard sounds decent. The included cables are adequate. (It’s worth noting that the USB cable is “Mini-B” not the “Micro-B” that has become the standard of most Android, Window, and most portable media devices on the market.

so if you’re planning to use this for more than the occasional tinkering, you might want to get an extra cable or two right away, as these are harder to find. ) I’m a little bummed that this product doesn’t have as much “native” integration with other popular DJ software products.

As of now (4/30/18) the product is NOT plug and play with djaypro by Algorridum’s Windows edition. but like many products, you can map the controller using custom midi commands. Also, in VirtualDJ, come of the functions you might want to use creatively will require a little mouse or keyboard use.

but that comes with the territory of a small device like this. Also, remember that there is NO mic input for this controller – that’s evident in the specs, and demo videos as well. Buttons, jog wheels, rotary knobs, pitch controls and crossfader are all adequate for beat mixing, but the jogs are a little two small, and the controller’s just a hair to slow for scratching at any performance level – but you shouldn’t expect this from a product that sells for around $80.

As a result, it’s NOT a good entry-level controller for anyone aspiring to DJ professionally. but it IS a neat tool for someone who is maybe using it as a last-resort backup (better than nothing, right?), as a tool to put together sets, and for a hobbyist who wants to have a little fun.

This unit is very handy to have around for so many reasons. I won’t go into a huge list of reasons why but what they say about this unit as far as convenience goes is on point! Very easy to work with, ultra small footprint for traveling, and well built.

Good sound quality and easily loud enough for any small venue like a bar, barbecue, and so on. I was quite surprised how loud this actually is given its size. Headphone output is very loud too. The headphone signal is a little ‘scratchy’ but still clear enough for purposes.

Buttons are solid and for a plastic shell it’s very strong. Value for money I would have to say Numark cannot be beaten here yet as this unit for the price will serve a wide range of travel needs and space requirements from the DJ that no other manufacturers of equipment cover in this area.

This unit working with your track pad or mouse has Serato DJ Pro in the bag and it’s a small bag at that!.

Being that this is my first micro controller, I have to say a few things about the unit. First of all, this is designed for a beginner DJ, as well as a novice professional. That being said, it’s great for practicing a routine, before you transition to your full gear.

My only gripe was you can only scratch, if the music is paused. Numark just released the Touch to fix this issue. Personally, I’ll use this controller for ceremonies, practicing mixes, and setting cue points on tracks.

I would highly recommend this unit.
