20 Best Vocal Harmony Pedal (2022 Updated)

I just received the TC Helicon Acoustic Play a week ago and I could not be more impressed. First of all, this thing is built like a tank. All metal housing and really nice switches. The guitar processing is great.

The BodyRez really does make your acoustic sound way better than a regular direct line. The assortment of reverb, delay and chorus effects are also very usable. Of course the star of this pedal is the harmonizing.

Granted, you have to be sure to sing exactly in tune or the tracking gets off but the results are astounding when you do. There are many options as to what harmony parts you want, up to two parts. I cannot describe how much joy I get using the harmony effect.

I’m working on a solo acoustic act and this pedal is really going to up the performance greatly. One bonus I did not expect is the USB audio interface aspect of the unit. Using a Lightning to USB adapter I am able to plug the Acoustic Play directly into my iPhone and iPad and get the direct audio recorded.

It works great. I am super happy with my decision to purchase this unit and would buy it again in an instant. Well worth the price tag.

I own the Voicelive Play GTX. I liked this unit’s variety of effects and the ability to download additional groups of vocal styles. These give a style to start with and refine to suit yourself. I never considered my vocals to be particularly good.

the pitch correction has given some additional confidence and improved stage presence to the point of receiving compliments on my vocals. Oddly I’ve considered myself a better guitar player and while the GTX has an acoustic amp simulator does not allow the acoustic sound of the guitar to shine through.

I got the acoustic hoping that it would bring out the voice of my Taylor 714 to come through. I was a bit disappointed with the vocal presets but believe I have recreated some of my favorites ( cost one rating star).

The biggest difference is the sound of the guitar. The clarity is MUCH improved over the GTX and while I’m still playing with the mix this is great start! Played my first show yesterday through my PA and was pleased with the sound.

I use this as a solo performer and occasionally in my studio for recording. Its great and does produce great pro quality sound. My only gripe as a solo guitarist/synth player is that it has no midi out to sync up with my other gear.

But its great for just good vocal processing for any singing situation as well as the more wacky things it does. All sound good and I would buy it again.

I love this thing. One of the greatest bargains ever. The price was phenomenal and I promise you won’t get a better vocal processor even if you spend $100 more. I promise. It’s better than the Roland VT-3/4 by a fair margin and way less expensive.

Should be a no-brainer buy.

Compact with mighty enormously great results live and in studio! Im still working with it. So many ideas coming. Saves time having to train others on the proper harmonies needed. Thanks TC Helicon, afte all these years; your reputation still speaks volumes.

I purchased this product because of one single feature(baby voice effect) and found it to have quite an array of other useful features as well. The build quality is excellent it doesn’t take up too much precious room in my studio and I think the value is very good, the only downside is it does not come with a power supply.

Great product as always from zoom , lots of bang for you buck and quality , I will use this product all the time , the harmonies are terrific, easy to use , sound natural , tip don’t colour your sound too much , don’t over do it , just a little it will do the rest.

This works with my rc505 and it has different effects that work perfect. Auto tune is dope too.

This pedal is a must have for vocalists anywhere. It really makes your voice shine right out of the box, the basic effects are already good enough for many occasions. On top of that, it has a huge capacity for user created banks and allows all kinds of adjustments and effects to be put together.

It also has a loop function! Hard to be better. Down points? Maybe it is not that easy to understand/use at first impact and the screen is kinda small and simple, but that is just me trying to find problems where they don’t exist.

TL/DR this is a BOSS/ROLAND product with all the quality you expect from these brands.

This is a great live unit. Gave it 4 stars as not quite clean enough for high-end recording. Also I’m not using this for vocals – I use it as a processor for flute to add reverb, echo, compression, etc.

This unit works great for any instrument that plays into a mic like woodwinds, brass, symphonic instruments, etc. It gives you the ability to cater your own sound and unlike most instrument FX units, it takes a standard XLR mic input instead of the usual TRS/TS connections like on guitar FX units.

Very flexible and portable for working musicians.

I reccomend downloading the manual. It will be much easier to read and work with as this pedal can do a lot. I am a solo guy with guitar. Country, blues, popular songs. I just need one good batch of settings for my voice all night.

I have been using the Boss VE2 for several years. I like the simplicity and the harmonies sound good. However for whatever reason I would like more variations on the reverb, delay, pitch correct, compression, (Yes dynamics is compresson) This pedal is a vocal pedal first and harmony pedal second.

The pedal has every possible adjustment you can make to your voice. If you are not familuar with studio adjustments the presets will help you find something quickly but there is so much more you can do to find your perfect voice with it.

As for the harmonies selecting your harmony key is probably not as good sounding as auto tune off your instrument. For example I have a song that goes E, F#m, G#m. I won’t be using it on that song. Standard 1,4,5 type songs it’s not bad.

But it does have several adjustments to each seperate voice of your harmony. So for example you can have the double harmony one volume and the 3rd another volume and so on. Really nice. Plus your can vari the genders.

Overall this unit far surpassed my expectations for finding the voice of what I thought I should sound like for the night which is the reason I bought it. I’ll use the harmonies here and there and its no problem to bend down to change the keys.

Just push the right arrow button and with the dial knob find the key.

Exceptional sound, well thought out design and great build quality. It’s incredibly versatile. Although it’s a ‘one effect at a time’ pedal, many of the algorithms actually have multiple effects in them that you can control within a particular patch.

So, you can have – for example – spring reverb and tremolo, or delay with modulation and reverb, or EQ with compression & boost, all with aux/hot switch and/or expression control of any parameter from within that patch.

Also it has a built-in tuner which is very accurate. This replaced several pedals in my collection: a Strymon Timeline (which is admittedly great, particularly thanks to the excellent looper), a Big Sky, a Flint, a Source Audio collider and a tuner.

The effects are studio quality – easily on par with the likes of Strymon. Many of the reverbs and delays also have freeze and/or infinity settings, so you can have infinitely repeating delay or reverb tails to play over, like the ‘hold’ function on a Timeline or Big Sky.

O M G, This thing does what about 6 of our old units could do. Exhibiting excellent S/N ratio and STEREO in/out, you could actually use it on a PA, BUT not this one! I replace an aged HM4 (digitech), MXR Flanger (late 70s) DOD Noise Gate, Compressor (probably mid 80’s, Digitech MIDI switcher (later 80s) and my more recent “chorus” unit which has a nice rotary effect on it.

Its scary that its so light and small but I will treat it lightly and baby it! It’s gonna take a while for me to do anything/everything on it but in one day I was able to tweak about 5 presets for my relatively conservative venture.

You will recognize SO many of the algorithims from records of the past, you will not believe this LITTLE box can do all this! No Power switch, be careful to watch for power spikes!! No batteries either, c’est dommage!! Eventide has done it AGAIN up in lavender! I have the “ULTRA” which is perfect for my needs.

IMPRESSIVE and SMART!!.

This is just an amazing pedal. I am an electronic sound designer and bought this for use with my various synths and audio devices. The algorithms are simply wonderful and this pedal can do about anything I can imagine as to altering and affecting sounds.

I use the audio interface via USB to control and change the various settings, but you can also use a bluetooth device to do the same. A HUGE advantage of getting the Max version of this pedal is you get every algorithm now and into the future.

The build quality of the hardware is excellent and I don’t have any negatives to say about this. You can see all kinds of reviews on YouTube, even some for those of us who don’t play guitar 😉 You can’t go wrong with this amazing device and I’m so glad I bought it for my electronic studio!!!.

I am really amazed at how good it sounds and the effects that it produces. I wanted something for boosting vocal parts. This will definitely do the job. Ruggedly built too.

This pedal is the furthest thing from advertised. It sounds HORRIBLE and nothing like a “crowd” or chanting crowd. Don’t waste your time or money.

After a few mediocre and one downright terrible vocal processor, the Boss VE-20 manages to have great effects and good editing features while also being simple to program yourself provided you read the manual.

The presets are good and get you singing right out of the box, the looper feature is operated by literally three button presses, and navigation and menu diving is streamlined to be as hassle free as possible.

The real shining light for me has got to be the distortion effects. Ive never been able to run distortion on vocals without getting huge amounts of feedback from the PA. I dont know why, I dont know how, but as I brought the Boss to the studio a couple days ago, the volume was cranked and I received absolutely no feedback from the monitors.

I think there might be some kind of gate within or a limiter of some sort, but Im just happy it works so well!.

Bought this 5 years ago and sold it to reduce my weight as a street musician. However 5 years later I’ve reduced my weight with my amp so I have bought this again as its the best vocal harmony pedal you can buy as far as I am concerned.

Compared to the one I was using the Boss VE2 which I bought again due to it being lighter it has presets which the VE2 dosen’t have. As a stage musician as well as busker I need presets as I use so many different settings for so many songs this fits the bill.

Theres built in presets already for you to try out and use and you can keep these or tweek them to your liking or simply create a new one. There is also a built in looper which is handy for simple and short arrangements.

This pedal can handle just about any vocal fx you need, its certainly never failed to deliver in the years I’ve used it. Works off six AA batteries for street use or mains for indoor.

I play mostly acoustic guitar and practice a lot with karaoke. This device is magical! Its a perfect backup singer without any personal problems or bad breath. Its never late and can’t stand you up if you can keep fresh batteries in it.

Otherwise, I recommend using the Boss PSA-120S A/C power adapter (sold separately. ) If you can’t make this thing work you have only yourself to kick out of the band. It works best for me on old Eagles tunes that require a strong harmony.

Just set the Key on the switch panel or plug a guitar into it. It figures out the rest on its own. Nice strong harmonies with plenty of reverb/delay options. If you enjoy working songs out on your own and crave a good harmony, this is the device that you need.

I’m using it with a Shure Beta 57A mic and a Peavey PV i6500 mixer mated to a Kustom 10 inch passive PA monitor. It all fits in my kitchen quite nicely.

I am sure that it will take some time to figure out how to use the Boss VE20 but it is the unit I have been wanting for some time. Youtube has tutorials and I have downloaded a copy of the instruction manual.

I used the unit for the first time at band practice on the simplest of functions (ROCK, ECHO, CATHEDRAL, etc. ) and it made a big difference in my vocals. Can hardly wait to learn the other features.

Best of all I got THE BEST DEAL available anywhere. Some of the Ebay prices were exorbitant so I waited. and waited. Finally after a year of obsessing on the web I pulled the trigger. Boom!!! This one was listed as a used item but I couldn’t tell.

It appeared to be brand new AND the price was only $169. 00!!! BOOM BOOM!!! I have a lot of confidence in products made by ROLAND and BOSS units have a proven track record of reliability as well. So i’m happy to be using the Boss VE20 for all of my vocal effects.

I really love the effects on this pedal, there is various sounds that are fun. One thing you need to be aware of is that the batteries do die quickly so it’s best to buy the cord that’s designated for the machine.

But I really love it and it adds a lot of flair to my sets. I would recommend most definitely. I hope to win the thousand dollars. I am funny.

This pedal has very limited uses if you are planning to use this on stage. I was initially excited to play with this thing and hoped it would add a new dimension to my vocals but when I started going through the presets I realized that none of them were very practical.

It gives you a ton of reverb options but as anyone who has ever played a show knows, there is already reverb in the venue so using your own on-board reverb on top of that is just going to muddy up your sound.

The harmony presets are all useless to me and sound fake anyway. The “pitch correction” was another feature I was excited about but it doesn’t do a great job and will often lock on to the wrong notes unless you have perfect pitch (Which i definitely do not).

So with all that being said what is left is the chorus effect, doubling effect, flanging effect, tremolo effect and delay effect that are actually useful live. So I guess if you use a bunch of flange, chorus, and tremolo in your vocals, this pedal might be alright.

Oh while I’m at it another thing I didn’t think about that I wish I had before getting this pedal. If you’re playing guitar and singing at the same time (like myself), changing presets is a pain in the butt and near impossible.

You have to hold down the 2nd pedal for 2 seconds and then you can scroll through the presets then holding the pedals down again to lock on to the new preset. you have to ask yourself. are you really going to have time and coordination to do that while right in the middle of a song? Probably not.

I’m sad this thing didn’t meet my needs because I was excited about it but it’s just not very practical at the end of that day.

So I’ve owned my EHX voice box about 2 years & it’s wonderful. I really love how I can get such nice textures & completely make my vocals have a much better overall tone. To be clear it’s not like auto tune so it won’t make you a great singer but the different ways you can enhance em are unreal!!!! Lastly, anyone who says this device isn’t what it’s cracked up 2 clearly hasn’t learned how to properly use it & read the instructions.

EH Is a god brand & has $$ value BUT like some others, the price needs to drop. like tc helicon, Boss. some units are Way overpriced. EH does make a good product & this would work well with guitar, synth ,bass, keys.

a accent pedal ( or two,attached )would be a great help. I owned a Digitech VX300 fx processor & after a bit of editing the program parameters, it had a warm yet analog sound to it! IT is a Pity Digitech discontinued that.

I’d buy another! the EH line is good But there is room for improvement & Remember : efx are meant enhance your natural sound NOT Overpower it.

I have seen this with other EX products- put out a bunch of hype and demo videos, and then the product doesn’t come close in real world applications. I had the same experience with the paracoustic di- not great sounding, muffled.

I can’t figure out how they are making any money on these- 90% of them have got to be getting returned by unhappy buyers. I own the product, but not for long. It’s going back. Sounds like a box of robotic chipmunks.

Tracking is slow, and effect is muffled. I use the best monster/Fishman/shure beta58 stuff, and this thing is a toy at best. Does not compare to the Digitech vocalist. The only reason I tried this was to save a little space on my pedal board.

I agree with the other reviewer- the vocoder does NOTHING- does not work. The whistle feature is marginal at best. The housing is solid, but the functions are 90% useless. I could find no practical use for this pedal, other than to give my mic a ridiculously hot signal, even with the gain set low.

Buying something that has no use is the worst value.

Our church Praise Team is relatively small but tight sounding group. I added this to my mike and acoustic guitar and (as one of the male voices) pop in the upper harmonies during the chorus/refrains.

Adds a lush, fuller sound to our vocals without being distracting. Our director is leery of new tech toys and worries about those toys misbehaving during performance, but the Harmony Singer has not failed yet.

Note that you do have to plug all the connections in prior to powering it up. We found that if you power it up prior to connecting the mike, it will not recognize the microphone. easily fixed, just unplug the power and plug it back in.

Even our director has given his tentative nod of approval on its reliability and loves the sound. For those singers worried about it being a distraction, don’t worry. You actually hear less of it as you are singing (the resonance of your voice in your head overpowers what you will typically hear through your PA.

) I haven’t tried it with in-ear monitors, but with external monitors, all I notice is lusher chorus. BTW, if you are singing a sustained pitch and change chords (say major to minor), it will change your harmony pitches.

This could be good or bad depending on what you want it to do. We have found that on the rare occasion I will need to sustain a guitar chord through a chord change or move to a new chord early to prevent the vocal harmonies from changing.

if we want to keep the pitch from changing, but that is not a big deal typically. Only con, and it is very minor, is that I would love to be able to have it do more than two harmonies at a time. For instance have it do one below and two above my voice.

Not a big deal though. Have no complaints at all. Bottomline: TCHelicon knows how to work vocal processing, it sounds natural and our director would love to have TC Helicon come up with a piano tech toy to allow him to just plunk a melody and have it play the harmonies for him (hah!!) Get this! You will not be disappointed!.

I’m a songwriter and I had one specific song in mind for this, but the effect is so natural and convincing that it’s opening a lot of ideas for my other songs. It’s an amazingly beautiful sound, fortified with a tone button that sweetens your voice to a pro level, even if you’re an average singer.

I use a Sennheiser e835 microphone and it sounds like I spent thousands when I sing through my powered speaker, even when not using the harmony effect. The reverb is really great, and the gain knob very appreciated to balance my vocal microphone (e835) with my guitar cab miked with a Shure SM57.

At first, I had a high, non-standard tuning on my one guitar, and it didn’t work well. I read the documentation and it mentioned that most any tuning will work as long as it’s A440. In other words, use a tuner before you start for best results: this guitar was tuned by ear.

As soon as I tried my other guitar, tuned with a chromatic tuner, to E flat, I was blown away by how awesome this pedal is. A person may not need harmonies on every song they do, but on the ones they do, this brings something magical that stands out in a big way.

Having used this pedal a few weeks, I’d have bought it just for the reverb, gain and tone enhancement. It’s that good.

This might just be a little early, as I am still dialing it in. I actually used it onstage to good effect with little practice, and had to explain to a couple of people on breaks where the other voices were coming from.

My reservations are due to the fact that it seems that I can overload the mic more easily than before, and the tone settings have changed fairly drastically. I had to cut the treble 3 numbers, and increase the bass by 2.

I have put a foam screen on the mic so I don’t get into it and overload the signal. One other thing. I have an AKG 1000 through a Fishman 220 tower. I was not clear on the phantom power always being on in the Harmonizer, and left the phantom power on in the amp.

I’m hoping I didn’t damage the mic and causing the tone and overload problems. The instructions could be clearer on this subject. All in all, the pedal is fast and immediately intuitive. It’s fun to hold a note while changing chords, and listen to the harmonies shift accordingly.

Singing in falsetto puts the third above into the stratosphere. Pretty darn cool. Do check out the Play Acoustic before purchasing this device. For not much more money you can get a whole raft of effects for voice and guitar, as well as a looper.

TC seems to be getting it done.

This pedal is truly, utterly awesome ! ! If you can’t afford an actual “Mellotron” keyboard, which cost an absolute fortune, this is the budget holy grail of classic late 60s sounds ( it costs a couple of hundred pounds rather than the approx thousand a Mellotron would).

Again Electro Harmonix have thought imaginatively & not repetitively about what a guitar pedal should be (i have the ravish sitar pedal also, which again is awesome & highly recommended too) ! Being a better guitar player than a keyboard player, this pedal has made recording the orchestral instruments a whole lot easier ( although you can use a keyboard, if you so desire, to trigger the sounds on this pedal.

I’ve tried both & they are equally good). What can I say ! This is a must for fans of the quirky tones that a Mellotron would give you, so rush out & buy one, I’m so glad I did. Also one last thought, of all the pedal manufacturers out there, Electro Harmonix are undoubtedly the “Rolls Royce” as far as I’m concerned.

The quality & imagination they put into their products is second to none. Give their products a go you will not be disappointed ! !.

When I first heard In The Court of the Crimson King in 1969, I never dreamed I’d get anywhere near that orchestra with unstable pitch sound without a Mellotron. It took half a century, but I can now mimic those sounds with a guitar.

Note that you must play simply, cleanly and carefully. There are no strings to bend on an actual Mellotron; no frets to slide over, so if you play that way, it’s gonna sound awful. If you’ve ever used a guitar synthesizer, you aleady know how this works.

“Orchestra” and “Choir” are really nice sounding. The rest less so, but just those two are enough.

An extremely accurate representation of the original tape-based Mellotron tones at a reasonable price. It’s easy enough to set up and use straight out of the box and the sound is just incredible. I use mine in the effects loop on my EHX Superego + pedal which adds variation and really fleshes out the freeze, layer and gliss functions, though you could just as easily run it in an effects chain, depending on what you’re trying to do.

For the money, a very unique and functional pedal that offers a decent variety of tonal variations and ease of use, especially well suited to ambient music. I highly recommend it.

Excellent vocoder for a great price. Better than the BOSS VO-1 and way less costly. Only problem is that for some of the higher notes the consonants of your speech cannot be heard. Tested the BOSS VO-1 and same thing.

Consonants are not present with high notes. I had to adapt my playing to compensate for this problem. When using this vocoder instead of going for the high notes I use the octave lower and it works. All speech is clear as long as you don’t go too high on the fretboard.

Would have given five stars but because of its limited range only four.

I picked up one of these so that I can perfrom some of my songs that were recoreded with a vocoder in a live performance. It sounds very good when you get it dialed in. This can be tricky. If the other sound source is too loud it will overwhelm the voice inflection.

If you turn up the gain on the Iron Lung too high it will feedback quite easily. It takes practice to be clearly intelligible. I’ve found that I need to enunciate certain words quite differently. Really hitting the hard consonants and exagerating “S” and “SH” sounds.

I think the main weakness of this box is the gain. It only has a 3 way switch for high, med and low gain. I often find that the med setting is not quite enough, but high is instant feedback! Another note, I find that if I “eat the mic” it sounds terrible.

I get a much better result if I back off and sing louder. I think the bass freqs in my voice overwhelm the vocoder circuit. (I have a deep voice, but I am actually talking about proximity effect inherent in all cardiod microphones.

) This is a good box, but I think I will try the bigger brother next.

Not what I expected, really diminishes my signal to the point of very little volume, 100 watt SS Fender 2/12 not playing nice with this fuzz box, too muddy, no punch. Maybe it is a bad one. Using the effects loop.

Not impressed.

I’ve had the Wailer Wah for about a month. I use Dimarzio Tone Zone humbuckers into a Marshall JCM 900, and I play old-school thrash metal. This is a good wah pedal, the only budget wah I have found which actually has a usable tone.

It sounds good with both heavy and light distortion, and also good with a clean tone. At first glance it is a cheaper and lighter clone of the standard basic Crybaby, the most basic wah type, really just a tone control for your foot.

But it has, IMO, a far superior tone to the basic Crybaby. EHX really paid attention to the tone parameters of this pedal. It sounds good at every position. Tone-wise, this wah smokes all but the higher-end wahs, and absolutely destroys the newer budget level Dunlops and Morleys and other price equivalents like the Behringer and Modtone.

Yes, I expect the traditional pot-type circuitry to wear out and get scratchy after a few years, but that’s a problem of all traditional wahs, and at least it will be relatively affordable to replace.

The Wailer Wah is super light, it’s easy to change the battery, it’s low-noise, and it’s true bypass. If there is one thing this wah lacks, it’s an LED indicator light. This replaced an Ibanez Weeping Demon Jr.

on my board (a pedal that had everything going for it except good tone) and sounds so good I actually use it. Before the Ibanez I briefly used a Morley Power Wah (junk) and before that, various Crybabys.

Unless I get rich suddenly, the Wailer Wah is a keeper.

The EHX Wah pedal is a great alternative to the standard, and more expensive wah pedals on the market. The frequency range is excellent and the product material is light weight. It is definitely not a high end pedal with fancy features, or voicing but it is a simple plug in and play wah.

I would place its sonic capability around your standard cry baby, and with a wider tonal range compared to the cheaper wahs around the same price. Unlike other non-metal pedals this material does not feel like a cheap, flimsy plastic.

I know some people do not like the plastic but it seems durable enough, and I prefer the weight saving aspect compared to the heavier metal materials other wahs are made out of. The only down side is the lack of an indicator light to inform you if the pedal is on or off.

Just make sure to double check if your running off a 9V. I have it hooked up to my daisy chain power supply and it is apparent when it is on, so no complaints here.

Just got mine today (a day early). It is a great sounding wah wah. I put mine post a DOD supra distortion pedal which eliminated some noise I was getting if I put it pre distortion. I ran the wah into an H2O chorus and echo pedal and then into a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp.

I was amazed at the lack of noise. It is very light so I don’t know how it will hold up, but it sounds great and I treat my gear with care so I am extremely happy with the product.

I watched the youtube vid and was totally sold. I got the pedal and maybe I didn’t spend enough time trying to get it to sound like the video (under an hour). it didn’t sound anything like any of the presets I thought at the time.

I watched the video again and got re excited now that I really need to use it live and what do I find? even though the pedal is still in absolutely MINT condition, wrapped up brand spanking new in it’s box and put away in the drawer.

it just stopped working all together! My guitar goes through it when the effect is off but when the red light comes on? NOTHING. And what’s more than that is I also bought the green “Bass 3uff” used it twice and it too just stopped working! it’s dead mint in it’s box too and is totally useless to me now! when I bought the C9 I remembered the Big 3uff lesson but I still went for it.

And I never opt for the special coverage but omg I swear it’s a conspiracy in cahoots with the retail stores. Now, good luck trying to find the receipt that goes back about 10 months. Does anybody want my 2 mint condition EHX pedals in their respective boxes with all the paperwork? They look great and the videos really sell them, but there is no pride in quality control and my experience is, EHX cannot be trusted.

Buyer beware.

I had tested the EH B9 Organ pedal and was impressed, but not quite enough to buy it. The C9, however, is another animal altogether. I’ve run it with an assortment of single-coil and humbucking-equipped guitars through small combos, a modern bass combo (essentially like a full-range keyboard amp) and large guitar amps and it is amazingly consistent.

Each patch sounds eerily like the real organ it’s modeling; I especially like the variable “click” that emulates old, worn Hammond key switches. It takes a different way of thinking – if you use it playing like a “guitar player” it sounds like an “effect”.

Think like a keyboard player – playing moving bass lines with chords, sustained pads and organ “stabs” and you’ll sound like an actual organ player. I wish it was slightly smaller (although it’s just a bit larger than a typical EH Nano or Boss pedal – not as large as many EH pedals) and that it had a Leslie effect with the ability to hook up an external speed controller – but I have several Leslie pedals and a Leslie cab, so it’s not a deal killer.

Very well built, very low power draw (although an external supply is required, it’s a standard 9v/tip negative type – and I never use batteries anyway). I have a couple of guitar synth and recording patch systems that include organ patches, and none come remotely close to this pedal.

Highly recommended *if* you can play “outside the lines” (“think” organ”) and NOT just play guitar through it.

I usually play on beach with friends, about a 20 minute carry on back, along with guitar and Mini Mustang or Passport mini amp. Every ounce counts when get older. No qualms about putting this in bag: seems everyone has guitar but never seen friend bring an organ.

This does it, and does it very well. Great range of tones (even Telstar if you dial back both adjustment knobs, get decent Farfissa sound). Can nail Strawberry Fields opening. Do have to adjust playing technique a bit: skip the bends and all that flash stuff organs can’t do, and can’t really with this either.

I especially like the 2 outs: dry (guitar) and organ (can set guitar & organ mix). Passport mini has 2 channels, so organ goes to one & guitar can go to any of the presets without messing up organ “pure” tones.

If I use standard amp, run organ into pandora and then aux input. Oh, and I have a couple gits with stereo output (pups and fishman under bridge) which allows on guitar volume control of organ. I put together my own external 9v power battery pack and that seems to work fine.

Very glad I sprung for this. Do get some amazed looks from friends when I kick this in & they hear for first (or third) time.

This is the definitive analog delay pedal. I also have a Boss DM-2W, which is superb. However, I give the edge to the DMM for its modulation capabilities. I also slightly favor the somewhat brighter tone of the DMM’s repeats.

If you don’t need the chorus and vibrato, however, the DM-2W may be the way to go as it gives you up to 800ms of delay time in custom mode. The DM-2 is also more compact. Still, nothing quite sounds like the DMM! The XO version is the same circuit as the discontinued big box DMM.

As long as it is calibrated correctly, there should be no real audible difference between the newer and older version.

EHX Memory Man Deluxe XO, analog delay, chorus & tremolo. 24 volt, very built, sturdy case. Has overload LED light. I should bought / invested this first. Goes my Blues / Rock effects I need. Keep in plain & simple, true organic sounds.

Still getting familiar with the adjustments, slight Reverb & Univibe. Enjoy.

Overall it is a nice effect pedal. Lush and deep effects. It takes time to learn what the pedal has to offer. There is a learning curve that you have to work out. The individual variables of the pedal have particular balances and sweet spots.

It’s a challenge to tune them in, and difficult to remember since there are no clock like control setting indicators. The effects are unplayable and overbearing when the variables are out of balance.

This is the same for every effect pedal. This pedal is one of the best pedals you can get if you want an old school replica analog chorus pedal. The pedal has some range of capability, but I find that there are only a few sweet spots that I like.

It will take some exploring before you get this thing dialed in, but it will all be worth it. It has a plethora of sound dynamics. Turn it on add set the attack and decay at at the off positions, turn on ‘harmonix”, set the mix to full filter, and you’ve got an awesome muff style distortion, turn that off, set the mix to 50/50, hit poly button(keep the attack and decay off) it it comes off as a chorus effect, rotate the attack back a bit from there and it turns a guitar into a cello–use it on a digital piano, and the effect is a beautiful warm woody sound, turn the poly off, and it becomes a backing texture sound.

Fiddle with the sensitivity until you can really control it, different effects and playing styles will have different sweet spots. The real fun begins when you start adding things into the attack/decay chain.

I have a cheap octave filter that that will lag in tracking, but in the chain with the attack dialed back it sounds great and creates these rising swells an octave up(or down) that wave in out, and once you get the sensitivity dialed in you can control them through your playing—but it will take some fiddling to get there.

Some other things I like to add in the effect loop are flangers and phasers, or a light bit of delay, or other modulation effects. With the poly on they take on the character of the effect, with the poly off it becomes a swelling pad sound that feels so natural you’ll forget that it’s part of what you’re playing.

A note on the poly mode–it’s not “poly” in the way you would normally think of it. When it is off the pedal will still play a full chord sound, but every time the effect triggers it will cut off the previous triggered instance, with poly on the effects overlap.

This is why dialing in the sensitivity is so important–with poly off you can effectively use it to control the effect very naturally–it will become second nature. Honestly, sometimes I’m not sure if I’m playing to it, or its reacting to my playing, but it’s definitely locked in and once you get there with it you’ll never want to turn it off–just fiddle the knobs for different effects.

It’s almost always on in my effect chain, and the way it’s set up allows you so many ways to dial it in and blend things up. You can make it go from screaming dives in the background to spacey rising pad sounds that are just barely there highlighting a clean sound, and then go right back to a pure grungy grind all by hitting a few buttons and twisting a few dials.

With a little bit of tweaking this thing can produce quitean impressive array of distinct sounds, and once you’ve got the sensitivity dialed in it will react to your playing quite nicely. but if you don’t to take the time to really sync with it, and dial it in you won’t be impressed.

It’s not a one-click sound effect toy, it’s an in depth audio manipulation machine. Expect to develop a close relationship with it or don’t even bother.

Reissue of a classic auto volume envelope swell pedal with extra bells and whistles that were not available in the original. Does the regular monophonic volume swell but also has a polyphonic swell as well as a built in fuzz w/controls that can be added to the volume swells.

Ability to switch between three different wave forms for both the rise and fall of the volume swells in mono mode-standard linear, parabolic and s-wave. You can also set it to a continuous wave so it’s more like a tremolo effect.

Three presets that can be saved and recalled with dedicated switches. Lotta options. Lotta bang for the buck. Reasonably priced pedal that definitely isn’t a one-trick pony and is a helluva lot of fun!.

The pedal is too complicated for the average player to enjoy. It also does not live up to the advertising hype. Granted I bought a Non Factory Sealed product so perhaps it is the pedal itself that does not operate properly but still it is very complicated to use.

I am unable to reproduce the sounds that are presented in the EHX demo video. As I already have an EHX delay pedal that works perfectly and easily, this one is going back. Perhaps if you have a PhD, you will be able to understand the telephone book sized manual (yes, an exaggeration) that comes with it.

I bought this product over two years ago and never got around to even taking it out of the box until just a few months ago. It has a serious buzz when I try to use it. It’s worthless. unless I can find out there is some work-around or maybe a piece of electronic gear I can run this voice box through.

something that cancels buzz. I did NOT buy product insurance. I’ve sent one or two things back to Musicians Friend over all the years I’ve bought from them. But I never waited TWO YEARS to try em out.

Be aware kiddies, There are occasional serious problems with at least a few items from any manufacturer. Buy that insurance and above all. Take those goodies out of the box and try em out first thing.

I’d give this a zero If I had tried it out first thing and got no satisfaction. I still give Musicians Friend high marks. They have gone out of their way for me over the years. But this purchase was a bust.

All because I didn’t act soon enough. I’m still gonna give a slap to Electro-Harmonix. Bad on ya!.

Use is limited for vocalists who don’t play an instrument. Not clear in description. Had to return. Return was free and went well with prompt refund.

Boss pedals are always rock solid. With that said, I have found that they produce budget pedal tones. I am a bass player, so that might skew my perception of this pedal. I bought it to take the place of the pitch shifting section of a Meris Enzo as I was replacing other Enzo features with separate pedals.

In comparison to the more refined and far more expensive Enzo, the greater options of pitch shifting on the Boss track pretty well, but I hear a bit of latency and find them to be tinny leaning toward harsh.

I am forced to use other pedals in conjunction with the Harmonist to get a usable tone that equals the tone from the Meris. This is not an apples to apples comparison because the Enzo has far more tone sculpting features and is more than twice the price.

However, I have found this kind of budget tone from other Boss products. It stands to reason because Boss is generally an incredibly high quality budget pedal brand. Bottom line is that if this pedal fits your budget, I don’t think anyone is doing it better than the Harmonist.

If you require something other than a harshly digital shifted pitch, get the Harmonist until you can sell enough other pedals and save enough money to get the tone you are looking for. I have actually decided to keep the Enzo and the Harmonist for now.

BOSS has a long line of pitch shifters, with each model having something special. PS-6, the last addition is not specifically new but it’s a marvel and covers lots of ground. First, there’s the harmonizer function that adds harmonies for single note lines, which is good for playing those Hotel California solos.

Then there’s the detune mode which is a very cool digital chorus. At last is the S-Bend mode which I bought it for. The S-bend functions with momentry switching, while all the rest is regular latching switching.

That means the pedal is off, the moment you step on it the effect is engaged and when you take your foot off it turns off. This allows inserting weird glitches and pitch bends mid-solo or mid-riff without having the pedal constantly on.

Adding an expression pedal turns it into a Whammy, but you can cover most Morello solos even without the external controller. In short, it is packed with modes but the most important – it may ignite some new music and make you sound really cool and modern.

Yes, it’s not a vintage blues tool, it’s for those who aim at the future. Check out NOVA TWINS if you want to hear it in action, these girls squeeze all the juice out of the S-bend mode.

I decided to go with this lens after owning my previous Nikon f2. 8 telephoto zoom lens basically because it is way lighter and more portable and I found myself usually struggling to take my f2. 8 zoom with me just because it was huge and super heavy.

Moreover I also found out that I was only rarely actually using the lens at f2. 8 but mostly at f5. 6 to f11 and sometimes at f4, so no big reason to carry the extra weight of a f2. 8 one. The f4 aperture can still blur enough the backgrounds.

Besides when I want fast apertures I always prefer my faster primes. And finally IS adds a very nice bonus to that for when you need to shoot at lower light or just be sure that you won’t end up with a shaky image even by using medium shutter speeds like 1/250 for instance that can stiil be shaky especially at the longer end of the lens.

The Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM is a great option at an affordable price. I think it is a good upgrade to the original non IS version and a good alternative to the bigger f2. 8 ones. I find the lens super sharp across the image at every aperture, super fast focusing and the IS is performing quite well.

Being an L lens also means it is very well made and with weather sealing. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who doesn’t really need f2. 8 for action shoots and anyone that wants to carry this lens around without having second thoughts about it.

By getting this lens you are not sacrificing any of the optical performance compared to the f2. 8 lenses. You get the same lens only smaller and way lighter. It also works amazingly well with both Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
