20 Best Volleyballs For Beginners (2022 Updated)

Just got this ball last week. I was hesitant to make the change from the Spalding King Of The Beach ball, to this new Mikasa one. Needless to say, I had no reason to worry. This ball has a great feel, with a fantastic grip.

It’s light enough that it doesn’t hurt to play for extended periods of time, and heavy enough to not just get lost in the wind. Passing felt great, power was on point, and it’s just overall a great ball to play with.

The only “downfall” I can say is it got abnormally slippery it felt when it was a wet ball, however that could be due to some factory coating still left on the ball. I noticed it did try off VERY fast though, so that made up for it! I would recommend this ball to ANYONE.

My son bought 4 of these in late July. All of them are already egg shaped. I went to the KOB website and shared this information and I have not had any response. Several years ago I bought 20 of the NVL Mikasa volleyballs and in less than a summer all of them looked like deformed eggs.

Guess what I didn’t get a response then either. Mikasa does not make volleyballs that will last more than a summer. If your good with buying new every year just because then this might be for you.

I always loved the king of beach spalding version and this is very much the same. They did a great job staying true to the previous version. Very good ball for outside play.

My girls bought this ball a while ago, and loved it at first, but it started cracking. It always scraped up their arms and i’m sure it probably hurt to play with. They bought this volleyball (even though it was sorta expencive) beacuse they thought it would last a long time.

But now we would recomend buying a different volleyball. We learned after going through a million volleyballs that wilson is defintly the best brand that doesn’t go leaky on you, i would definitely recomend buying a volleyball from Wilson just not this one.

This volleyball ball will be the heart and soul of any pool party or beach party. The spring and summer are coming, and you can have a great time with friends while exercising with this eye-catching, motivating and beautiful ball.

It is rated for recreative use, and gets the best performance. It will resist water contact.

This ball hurts to hit. I used another, less expensive, softer ball and was able to hit the ball for an hour of play with my kids. This ball, we couldn’t comfortably hit after 4 hits. My kids complained that it hurt and we don’t use itfor volleyball playing.

The colors are nice and we like them but the ball is showing signs of wear. Might be because my kids will only kick the ball. I don’t recommend this ball.

I’m currently playing on 3 beach volleyball league teams. I’m 43, and far from an elite player. But I love it, and work at it to do my best. I have a team that plays strictly Wilson AVP when we win the serve, and a team that plays strictly Spalding King of the Beach.

And I still like the feel and play of the Mikasa VLS 300 the best. I say there’s a weirdness about beach volleyballs, because I have at least one player on both of these teams that will throw something of a fit, with very little self-awareness, if someone introduces a different volleyball than their favorite, and there are many others on the courts that seem to do the same.

The team that serves first picks the ball, and it is very common to use a different ball from one set to the next, because the first serve switches to the other team. The favorite overall switches around some, and the general attitude about what ball the “best” players on the local courts should be playing with just changes along with it.

They are all official size and weight, and on a kitchen scale, all come in at the same weight, give or take very slight variances. But after extensive play with all 3, and I play and enjoy playing with all three, the Mikasa VLS 300 feels the most natural to me.

I serve it the best, pass it the best, get the best touch on it placing the ball, it spikes solid giving it what I’m capable of, and it feels in control. People seem to play the ball very well when it’s introduced in a game, even if they complain about not using their own ball.

I warm up and drill with the Mikasa VLS 300, Wilson AVP, Spalding King of the Beach, and Baden Sand Shark, all during the same warmup several days a week. I don’t want to become one of the ball fussybutts whining because someone else doesn’t share my idea of my favorite ball.

These 4 are all nice playing balls, but the Mikasa VLS 300 plays the best for me. I consider all 4 top notch, well-playing beach volleyballs A thought I’ll share that flies in the face of a lot of comments on beach volleyballs.

I try to hit all the balls as hard as I can while maintaining control on serves and spikes, and they’re all built at an official weight. I have experienced no reason why one would be harder on my shoulder than the other.

Lots of people will produce varying anecdotes. At first I took them as wisdom from more experienced players. Eventually, through my own experience, this talk became silly to me. Air pressure will have more effect than using a different ball, and these 4 all have a soft touch compared to most of the cheapos out there.

as a varsity player myself back in the philippines Mikasa is always the brand I trust & also the ball we use in school. Now I am proud to introduce Mikasa to my Daughter whos into Volleyball and always brings it with her 5days a week in school (extra bag to carry) & this is her 1st year and made it to the team 2022 Westside JSVL Girls Under 16’s.

This is a great little volleyball. Its feel and responsiveness is well worth a little extra money. It’s now my daughter’s favourite toy! She drags my husband out to practice volleyball several times a week to hone her accuracy.

My son has been using this ball both indoors and outdoors for a month and it still looks brand new. Holds up really well, though one would hope so if paying over $50 for a volleyball. He loves the grip texture that his other volleyballs don’t have.

This ball has revolutionized my idea of what a volleyball should be like. Prior to buying this ball I had always played with the Sensi-Tec Tachikara balls. I decided to get a good ball, and stumbled upon this one in my research.

The grip on this ball and the feel are fantastic. Using this ball jump serving for me is much more consistent and more powerful. The ball is harder than what I was used to, but after getting used to it I will never go back to a softer ball.

Imitation but I’ve to say it’s quite good for price 20% of true V5M5000. This ball is soft with hand’s touches and doesn’t slide, its flight really stable. It makes better impression than Mikasa MVA330 that’s two times more expensive.

But it is necessary to check edges of panels after each game because its are glued not quite firmly and I was have to use a drop of rubber glue in several points.

It’s a softer ball than the 390W, but that is a good thing! It’s more padded so it’s more durable when playing across different surfaces (concrete, grass, floorboards etc;). Vibrant colour & great quality too, highly recommend!.

The ball is great, I use it every day and aside from the scuff marks from outdoor use it’s still kept its shape. And despite the outdoor use there’s no signs of damage on the ball. Having used it on tennis courts, grass and brick walls.

This ball has better grips than other volleyball sold at rebel. It doesn’t hurt hands and great for all ages. It is indoor ball with synthetic leather, avoid using on rough surfaces.

The shipping came quicker than expected which was nice. Also the volleyball is great. It floats well and is easy to set and spike. Overall great

I bought this for my daughter who is 10 and I am so happy with this purchase. The ball is very well made and she loves the colors as well. She really wants to make the 6th grade volleyball team at her school next year but was really wearing her arms out with a regular volleyball.

She can practice many more reps using this ball without having arm pain. I highly recommend for your young athlete beginning to learn volleyball!.

I bought this volleyball to be used with middle school students. The ball is durable and can withstand all day play. The cover is a little smoother than other brands, but that is a matter of preference.

Overall, I am pleased with the product.

Perfect ball for beginners and little ones. Ball is lightweight and the material is easy on the arms for my niece (5yrs) who is just getting introduced to the sport of volleyball. The ball is still a little heavy for her arms but she’ll get used to it as she gets older.

Good quality. FIVB official ball. great value. Much better than any Wilson. These ones last much longer.

Excellent customer service at Pacific Fair on the GC. He even made sure it was the correct air pressure for use. The Beach Volley Ball is great, it can be used indoors or on the beach!

This ball is as described. Howevever there are some things this ball lacks that are not, conveniently int he description. For instance this ball lacks a lot of the same feel and softness that other more expensive options have.

Though those options are not as light weight. I thinks this is a good ball but to get true value the manufacturer should concentrate a bit more on softer materials.

Nice style, good price and excellent customer service. This volleyball is required for my daughter’s volleyball league and the quality stands out. I would buy this product again.

We bought this for our seven-year-old because we wanted something that was lighter weight and also wouldn’t hurt her arms because she is just learning to play. This ball was perfect in every way!

Granddaughter wanted a “pretty” volleyball for her birthday. This Mikasa ball fit the bill. She loved it.

So far so good, great for the pool. Cover is soft, which is perfect for the pool, but we’ll see how it holds up to constant pool use.

This is softer than official ball, but no where near as soft as fabric and foam covered version used at kids’ camp.

I do not recommend this ball. Try to purchase a Mikasa ball, which is way sturdier, and more reliable than any of the counterparts. This is also why they use Mikasa in the Olympics! The Molten ball is hard in the outside and to the touch, uncomfortable overall.

The leather is really hard. I thought real leather would be soft! But this ball feels synthetic bc it’s so hard. Ouch this ball really hurts

My daughter got this ball to practice volleyball in our driveway/yard. She hasn’t played a lot yet, being younger, but I’ve played a lot and this ball plays very well. Has good feel.

I bought this for my 10 year old after graduating from her volley lite ball. Its been the perfect next step for her.

Bought 2nd Mikasa VBall for my daughter. The quality is vgood. Lasts long. Worth buying again.

This ball is really good I’ve been playing volleyball for a while now and this ball is pretty good the leather sorta runs off but not for a while and it’s a great use of outside playing time it’s practice.

This is the best volleyball that I found. Bought this about 10 years ago and it’s still in great condition! Holds air extremely well very soft to touch and extremely durable! If you’re going to get a volleyball this one is worth spending the extra money for.

It’s great for the court, sand, as well as grass! It is well weighted and the fill valve does not affect play at all.

I bought this ball for my daughter so that we could play outside and feel confident with the durability of the ball. This ball does seem very durable and well made but it is a little tough or stiff to play with for an extended period of time.

My daughter and I were hitting back and forth quite a bit and by the end of it, my wrists were very sensitive.

I bought this ball for my daughter to practice volleyball skills for high school volleyball. We got an hour of practice with it, but it wasn’t full of air. So we pumped it up, then as we went to practice more, it had deflated almost 1/3 of the way.

There must be a defect.

Sometimes the volleyball gets a city dirty but it is all good overall. You can use it for indoor or outdoor use.

This volleyball was much harder than I expected. The leather wasn’t nearly as soft. Initially I thought it didn’t bounce well because of low air. Aired it up and didn’t make much of a difference. I’ll have to explore other options for indoor volleyballs.

They r pretty good. The material required break in time and feels weird without out a break in period. But once its been done this is a good practice ball.

I bought it so that my Boston Terrier could fight with it and chase it around the yard. I had purchased other balls but she was able to burst them or tear them up. This ball was tuff enough to with stand her ruff play!! It was just what I needed.

My wife is a volleyball fiend. She loves to play volleyball all the time so I picked this ball up for do use for coaching and recreation. The ball is a little bit hard, so for younger children I would advise getting a soft touch volleyball.

This ball has more of a plastic feel so it hurts when you get a hard ball to your forearms. It does seem to be made of decent construction, and should last a little while with indoor use. I think if it gets in the elements at all, it will fall apart.

Im super excited with this ball. It is made from the best quality and comfortable to use. I have had volley balls that have caused bruising with excessive play, but this is wonderful firm as needed and comfortable on the hands.

This ball also takes a lot of abuse, but it handles it well. There are a couple small scuff marks, but nothing that compromises the ball. I will be using this until it is no longer any good, and then I would purchase another one based on the quality and color choices that are available.

Bought this Volleyball for my daughter to work on some skills indoor. I was always a fan of Tachikara back when I played ball, and they haven’t changed! Great quality & still so soft!

my personal favorite vball brand! it comes in many different colors and can be bought at most sport stores. it’s higher quality than most but also a little pricier. if your looking for a good volleyball, this is the one.

Very HARD volleyball. The kind that hurts. The price was cheap so I was wondering what kind of volleyball is coming. I wanted softer volleyball for my 12 y/o son to start practicing. So I requested return/refund then Walmart said for me to keep the product.

This ball arrived deflated! What?! You would never ship a football that way or a basketball. How am I supposed to know the optimum air pressure of a volleyball?! And it’s over 2 weeks late. Volleyball camp is over.

It’s being returned. Sorry for the one star bc it has nothing to do with the quality of the ball. once it becomes a ball. This is all on Walmart.

This brand is great. It’s one of my favorite to play and practice with it. It’s firm but the material is very soft. Your hands don’t hurt as much as one of the cheaper ones at Walmart. 100% buy.

Bought just to leave in trunk so I alway have a VB on hand. This ball’s skin is not as soft as my $40 Wilson, but it still flexes fine for laying down high energy hits. And for the price?!?! This ball is a steal!.

Perfect ball to donate or gift to parks and rec league or charter school. Very inexpensive and my daughters school which I donated it to has been using it daily.

Bought this for youth to play gaga ball because it was inexpensive. Discovered it was not inexpensive, but cheap. There is a difference. Ball was torn and gouged after one day of play. Would not purchase again, but you get what you pay for.
