20 Best Volume Hair Mousse (2022 Updated)

I have thick, coarse and wavy hair. Sometimes I wear my hair natural and other times I curl it. It is already a pain for me to brush my hair before showering so I look for hair products that won’t add to the hassle.

Aussie is a wonderful haircare brand and I love their 3 minute moisture masks so I had high hopes for this Instant Freeze Hairspray. First, the bottle is large and will last a long time. The nozzle seems to be a sturdy and like it will not get clogged.

The scent is light and fantastic, it is the signature Aussie scent. I use a small amount of the hairspray before curling my hair and then a good amount afterward. I always brush through my curls after they have cooled down.

Some hairsprays will add frizz to hair or make hair crunchy but this just held my curl while still making my hair brushable.

My hair savior. I’ve used this forever. I use this as part of my hair routine every time I wash my hair when I wear my very curly 3b hair curly. I get out knots with the original it’s a 10 spray. I then use IGK Rich Kid hair gel and spray my wet hair with the Aussie Mega.

I usually wrap my hair in a towel to let it air dry. If I want a faster dry, I have a diffuser on my hair dryer. The Aussie Mega smells great, like grapes. It can be sticky at the time im spraying on my wet hair if I use a lot, but it never leaves residue in my hair and washes clean.

I use a non sulfate shampoo bar most days, and once a week or so as needed, I use a clarifying shampoo. I have to use a non-pump hair spray like this with the lightest hold, and this has always been the best (and cheapest) option.

When my hair dries, it isn’t sticky or crunchy, I just have soft bouncy ringlets thanks to the Mega. If I want some extra softness and shine, I use a hair oil like the gisou honey oil.

I’ve been using for several years now. I love this hairspray!! Living in an extremely humid state, I find that this hairspray performs VERY well, not to mention it smells nice. Literally it can have 100% humidity outside one day the very next day the humidity will drop to 45%.

This hairspray holds up nicely does not leave any white residue in your hair, as I have found a few hairspray that do. Aussie does not leave your hair with a wet, matted down look, unless you are trying to achieve that look.

I also use love , which I use mainly after I curl my hair, it holds my curl’s in tact, without a crunchy feel. If you haven’t tried Aussie hairspray, I highly recommend you to do so!!.

This is my favorite hair product when I go out or the weather is just not cooperating with my hair. I have very thin and fine plus straight flat hair that is very hard to give any volume. Most products have to keep being sprayed or applied over and over again and then my hair has a sticky residue weighed down by the product.

I only use this once or twice on a very important evening so it last a long time and you always get your moneys worth. I highly suggest this product if you have stubborn straight flat hair like me. You won’t be disappointed.

NOOOOT QUITE, “THE VOLUMIZING PART!!?” Yeahhh. Big SEXYHAIR root pump basically… smells great, and it’s not sticky after spraying the foam onto your roots and rubbing it throughout your hair because mine is oily I don’t put it on the very very front of my scalp, use very little really there, and use less! Because it will get oily too quick! However, this is like spraying a whole can of hairspray underneath half of your hair that someone is holding up to fix perhaps, and it just of course does what is going to do, as gravity,  Of course with all that hairspray is going to hold the hair up not to say this product is or anything like hairspray, however it does have that gel/mousse hold.

!! Just Not as natural looking as I would like so I would never recommend this to a friend I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone just to let them screw their hair up! LOL. That’s not necessary.

I bought the Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus 10. 6 oz. (Set of Two) online because the store’s single one seemed too pricey. This was an amazing deal in comparison! Furthermore, I have very fine hair and asked my hairdresser for a reasonably priced item to volumize my hair, and this is it! Easy to use, gives immediate lift, and stays up throughout the day (even the next day, when fluffed up again).

I have tried soooo many curl mousses and this is by far my favorite. I have 2c/3a curls so I needed a lightweight product that wouldn’t weigh down my hair. After washing my hair I use a leave-in conditioner, heat spray, and this mousse for definition.

I scrunch the product in and dilute with a spray bottle of water and then rescrunch it. Then I use a diffuser and end up with absolutely gorgeous loose curls. Don’t forget to scrunch the crunch! Though truth be told, this product is less crunchy than others which is nice.

I do wish they had a gel to go with this mousse to help hold the curl longer. On days 2/3/4 I usually spray more water on my hair and rescrunch the curls to define them again. Even without the extra hold I still live this product because it’s the only one that has worked to give my curls definition and volume without weighing them down or making them greasy.

I received this product free for my honest review. I have been using this for about a week now and have noticed that my hair has more volume, bounce, and softness. However there isn’t the curl definition I was hoping for with a mousse titled curl and wave defining.

That being said I do enjoy the benefits I have noticed and will definitely continue to use this product. I am unsure if I will purchase more when it runs out since my current focus is on defining my curls.

I typically have 2b wavy hair and depending on products I use on my hair and the environment I often have 2a or 2c hair. I was hoping for a solid 2c using this product. If anything this helps combat the 2a for more of the day then without it.

I still notice my curls loose their oomph by the end of the day. I would recommend this to someone just looking for a mousse that provides volume and bounce, but if you are looking to enhance curls I’d say try elsewhere.

Let me start by saying, if you have fine/thin hair, or if your hair is otherwise easily weighed down, this product is not for you. That being said, when used on the appropriate hair types (coarser/thicker types with a natural curl pattern), this product is amazing! I use Moroccanoil first on my hair, then apply a small amount of my Redken curl cream, and end with whatever mousse or gel I’m using.

With this product, I can skip the curl cream and still have well-defined, non-frizzy curls! I have to stress you only need a SMALL AMOUNT of this product; do NOT put your regular-sized glob of mousse in your hand! Scrunching like normal after applying is important too, even though you don’t end up with the same crunch as other products.

That took me some getting used to–remembering to still scrunch even though the texture was different.

It gave my hair noticeable volume doesn’t have a super strong scent, but I had to return. It left my color treated hair feeling very dry brittle. Maybe I was using too much, but I’ve used Color WOW’s volumizing mousse with the same amount that made my hair soft.

This one would also get my hair stuck in my round brush when blow drying left my hair very frizzy due to the grit it gives your hair. If you’re okay with that then this product is great for volume, but I’m not a fan of my hair feeling dry frizzy.

Redken Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse is a great medium control mousse. It’s smells good and foams up well and gives you extra control your hair style needs. I found it to have excellent control and what I needed to add to my hair routine.

I recommend and would buy again.

I received a sample of this awhile back from my old birch box subscription. Forgot I even had it, as it was hiding in the back of my drawer. Unfortunately I don’t believe they sell this particular mist anymore, but I figured I would still share my thoughts on it.

I didn’t really like the way it sprays out, it was more of a stream than a mist. I always liked to spray it in my hands and then comb it through my hair with my fingers. It can be used on dry or damp hair.

I normally used it on my damp hair and then I would blow dry. It would leave my hair feeling super soft and shiny, also less frizzy!!.

I don’t understand how this has such great reviews! I understand people have different hair types but I don’t even see how it could work well for any hair type. I have curly, frizzy, coarse hair and I didn’t see any significant straightening power from this, and it certainly didn’t make my hair straight through 1 shampoo let alone 5! All it did was make my hair frizzier after blow-drying.

I used a flat iron afterwards, but my ends were still a bit frizzier than normal. It also left my hair feeling sticky and smelling like chemicals. The ingredients are also awful! I had this sitting in my bathroom for a while and decided to try it again since I ran out of my usual straightening balm.

Now that I’m more health conscious, I can see now that there are so many bad ingredients in it. No wonder why it was discontinued. Never again!.

I’m in the military and have long, fine hair that I have to wear up in a bun. I also have bangs that I have to style in a way that keeps them from touching my eyebrows, so a strong-hold hairspray is a must for me.

I’ve tried several other salon brands and everything I used was either too weak or made my hair flaky and gross. I’ve bought this over and over again and it works beautifully. It smells fantastic, too.

It is a very strong hold, however, so yes. brushing it out is more difficult than with a lighter hold spray. I also use it when I blow-dry and curl my hair, both at the roots for extra volume and to tousle it to give it an un-done look.

The only con is that the nozzle gets clogged frequently, but some time under some blazing hot water usually helps, but you’ll do that at least a few times per bottle. The finish isn’t super mattifying, but it doesn’t really impart shine, so that’s something to consider if you’re looking for a spray that also imparts shine.

It’s tough to find anything with strong hold that does, though.

My hairdresser stopped keeping this product so I was forced to source it on-line. Now I always buy two at a time to make sure I never run out. Although it’s described as a powder it really doesn’t feel like it – there is no powdery residue whatsoever.

It is a dry spray that instantly provides body and manageability and allows me to dry style my hair. And most of all it gives the hair SHINE, which considering I have almost white hair, tinted purple thanks to the wonderful Muvo shampoo for blonde hair, is a miracle! I cannot recommend highly enough.

I get so many compliments on my hair from people of all ages thanks to these two products. FYI, I have lots of very fine hair and I live in Brisbane where the humidity runs high.

This is the best volumizing and texturizing spray. My hair is naturally wavy I put the Blonda oil in it and crunch it. Then when dry I lift up the layers up and spray the Texturizing spray throughout my hair.

So shiney and easy style. Is not sticky. Walmart has the Best Price and yes it’s the Real Stuff made by Unite. 100% AUTHENIC. I have bought it before from Unite and it’s the same product as Walmart. Walmart price is $20.

I love this product and was glad they had it on here with multiple bottles at a good price. They work as good as the one I bought in the salon on my hair. Texturiza Gives a light, no sticky, crunchy hold and piece out my layers well.

I had an issue with one of the cans but Verbena responded quickly. They went way above and beyond to make me happy. Super impressed with their customer service and will continue future purchases through them.

I usually like this product as it gets my hair nicely loose and volumed for blowdrying, and so I ordered 2 bottles online. One of them is fine but the other doesn’t foam up when pumped – it comes out as liquid mush.

Returning is too much of a hassle – who has time for that for a $13 product. And I don’t think I can take it into a store and swap it , they will tell me to use the online return process. So am stuck with an unusable bottle of this product.

After reading great reviews about this, I purchased it and was very happy with it because it did give my fine hair lots of volume. However, after about 5 uses, the product stopped foaming. Even after shaking the can (per instructions), the product came out watery and runny.

I called customer service and they are sending out a coupon for a new can. Product is good but the pump was manufactured poorly.

Despite the fact I’ve been using name brand of hairspray for decades, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to give Moroccanoil Extra Strong Hold hairspray a try. First and foremost , I have a new favorite hairspray! (In all honesty, I did not expect that to happen!) This hairspray is phenomenal.

I have very thick, wavy hair. A few quick sprays’ worth keeps my hair in place all day long and that is even with the extreme heat and humidity we’re currently experiencing. Its not heavy, doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it stiff and crunchy.

And, of course, it has the fantastic Moroccanoil scent we all know and love. This is a keeper for me. I’ve officially switched to this hairspray from now on.

I thought I hated this because for one, I don’t like the fragrance, and two, I doesn’t feel like anything is in my hair so I thought it wouldn’t hold. Surprisingly it does hold well – I wouldn’t say it’s a strong hold but it’s a solid medium hold and extremely touchable.

The next day my hair still looks and feels good. But the fragrance is unbearable to me, I don’t know why it didn’t bother me when I tested it in the store but now I can’t even wear it. Please either make a fragrance free or get a different fragrance because I like this spray way better than even Oribe.

This hair spray finishes off any hair style! I use it when my hair is curled and it holds the curls without any scrunchie or hard feeling. It never causes flakes and makes your hair shinny. I use it when I blow dry straight as well.

I spray it on my brush and comb through my hair after and it gives it such a nice smooth finished look and really helps with frizz. Not to mention it smells amazing and yes holds style ALL day. My favourite hair spray on the market for sure.

Be careful using too much because it can really dry out your hair. I apply just a few quick squirts at the roots of my hair sections to add some volume. I use Davines Oi Oil after applying to make my hair shiny and less dry feeling.

This texturizer and the oil work wonders together.

I recently began to use this product and immediately loved it. I have wavy hair and often humidity makes it frizzy. I used this only twice after taking it on Vacation and I could not believe how defined my curls were and the scent was amazing.

It smelled edible even after not washing for two days. No need for dry shampoo. I was extremely disappointed when I accidentally placed it in my carryon and not my checked bag and it was thrown in the trash by security.

I had just purchased this and only had a few uses. I looked for it in some of abroad specialty stores but sadly nowhere to be found. A travel size would have been great.

Expansive, but the best. Worth every penny. This is my second order and if they will not change I will continue to use this mousse because is working the way suppose too. I try so many and this one is the winner.

I use before for so many years ION but when they change ingredients its not worth it anything. My hair is not thin and not very thick and the product is perfect. My girlfriend has very thin hair and she is using this brand just different type.

I have incredibly hard to hold hair. I am working on finding a style that works without products if I can. This was part of that attempt. Here’s my experience so far. This stuff is SUPER creamy and feels amazing on the hands.

It goes in the hair evenly and feels like it disappears there. I don’t need “lift” or “curl management” but I need a bit of control for styling and hold. This does not hold my hair like my drugstore brand does.

That said, however, I can FEEL my drugstore brand in my hair, and I was trying to get away from that. So, for me, the jury is still out, but I can see how others may love it straightaway, especially if you don’t have hard to hold hair.

Scent is good, feel is great, it’s not sticky, it’s not greasy, but so far, I’ve not yet made it work quite right. I fear the humidity of summer will make me go back to the drugstore brand, and that’s sad.

BUT, I need something that will work in my hard to manage hair.

I’ve always had a hard time finding a product that is light, keeps my hair frizz free, doesn’t feel crunchy or wet, and allows me to wear my natural curls more than one day. Whip is THE products that does ALL of these things for me.

I love that I can apply whip every day until I wash again and it produces the same beautiful curls as when I put it in wet. My hair remains frizz free. My natural curls look fresh each day with very little touch up with the product.

Until I found whip I straightened my hair every day. Hating that I was adding so much heat all the time. but my natural curls just weren’t pretty enough to wear. Now it’s my easiest and favorite way to wear it.

Not to mention, how much healthier my hair has gotten from decreasing the use of heat. In my 42 years I’ve tried ENDLESS products for my natural curls. Whip is the FIRST product that’s given me results.

I can’t rave enough about it. Whip whips my curls right into place every time with little effort simply scrunching with a towel as it air dries. Maintenance every day after is just scrunching product into my dry hair.

I tend to steer away from whipped products for volume because they always seem to weigh down my limp hair more than help, feel sticky etc and always look dirty the next day. The first day I tried it more on the root area to see how I liked it and it was fine but the next day I used a small amount on all of my hair and I am IMPRESSED! If it wasn’t 15 degrees I could have let my hair air dry and had a very pretty beach wave with no sticky or weigh down dirty look.

Having to use the blow dryer I was worried about my typical frizz without using a leave in conditioner and I had zero frizz. My hair is very damaged from color treatment and no frizz or the typical static cling I get in the winter without hairspray.

But I was really even more impressed the next day when my hair would typically look dirty from product and back to zero volume and that wasn’t the case. I am a wash my hair every day person so for me to feel like I don’t have to wash my hair before leaving the house is great and will definitely help my color last longer.

This whip is one of those little goes a long way so it will last me quite a while. And it has the Biolage Fragrance I have always loved. It’s a definite win for me!!.

this mousse has a stronger scent than the shampoo and conditioner from this line – smells more like the Biolage items I’m familiar with. There is also a faint chemical smell when you first dispense and apply it but that goes away once it’s dry.

The fragrance isn’t too heavy and unless you’re especially sensitive to scent it should be fine and appealing to most users. It dispenses easily and prettily, like whipped cream. It’s light and airy like mousse is supposed to be.

I associate mousse with the 1980s when it was first released but I still use mousse because if you need more volume it’s the perfect styling product. A little goes a long way and it dries nicely if you dry and style your hair.

It will stay crunchy if you apply it to wet hair and don’t blow it dry or let your hair air dry and then brush/comb it to style it. This does add volume and I like the scent and I would definitely buy this again.

wow! I have been struggling with extremely fine hair and hair falling out due to a medication for a sickness that I have and nothing was working but this Biolage Volume Bloom is my miracle now. I was able to style my hair and put volume BACK into it.

I didn’t have to just pull it back and feel plain anymore. Before this hair falling out AND before I was sick I ALWAYS doing my makeup and my hair. Once my hair started coming out and thinning and thinning thinning I kind of gave up.

This is giving me HOPE and I’m absolutely in love with the volume mousse as well. I used it all for a week to give it a full affect and now I know I CAN get back into my makeup routine and finally feel pretty about myself, like I used to.

The MOUSSE is INCREDIBLE. It’s not like most of the other ones that you use that leave your hair either sticky or in clumps. This distributes evenly and gives such a BOOST to your hair. Now it’s become one of my favorites to use.

Let me start by saying I ABSOLUTELY HATE MOUSSE. I am a 3b ringlet curly girl, fine – medium density and A LOT of hair. I have been curly for 6 years now fully and I have tried a ridiculous amount of curly hair products.

My curl pattern and my curl texture is not often seen together I feel like. My curls are extremely soft and are naturally perfect spirilla from mid lengths to the bottom. However the top of my hair does not clump or spiral at all on its own.

The softness causes the curls at the roots of my head to just sit like soft waves (closer to a 3a curl pattern. It’s annoying and makes me super long hair fall incredibly flat. Which makes me look like a cabbage patch doll which I hate.

My hair responds and behaves it’s best with curl creams and gels with jelly like consistency. Recently I moved and because my low porosity hair these products are now too heavy without the humidity if my old climate.

I had to completely switch my curl routine. I tried 3 other mousses before this ( OGX coconut curls, Camille rose spiked honey mousse, sexy hair spray mousse) I hated all of them. I always find mousses to be too crunchy, not enough hold, leaves hair dry or dull looking, or still too heavy for my hair.

This mousse changed the game! This mousse reacts the same way as a curl jelly would in my hair. It makes my hair shiny, bouncy, light weight, defined and cast it leaves can be completely scrunch out with a little oil.

If you need something light weight and defining please do not hesitate to buy this!!! The first time using it I followed the instruction and put an egg size amount of mousse into each side of my hair after my other styling products and it turned great but I needed more hold to make my style last my normal 4-5 days.

Next time I did the same but added one extra egg size amount into my hair and perfection! I use this with the shea moisture leavin in spray (pour a nickel size amount in my hands emulsify and then finger comb into hair) followed by splitting hair in half and.

Working in a quarter size of curlsmith weightless air fry cream on each section and then this mousse ( egg size amount in each side of my hair, emulsify between my hairs, praying hands method to apply to brush styles curls) then one more egg size amount scrunched into my whole head.

Followed up by diffusing, oil Scrunch to break any cast and shaking out my hair with my finger from my roots to add volume and separation. Add volumizing powder or dry shampoo to roots for extra volume and then shake it out again.

Perfect define curls every time!.

It’s great, but the original wast best. They’ve changed the formula a couple times since the compact dark red bottle packaging (that one was more potent and the best). I use this after my hair oils and pre-hairstyling with blow dryer or heat.

I have naturally thin hair and it gives me volume with a dense boost of thickness that has a good hold so I concentrate it on my roots. It keeps shape for 3 days of no shampooing and doesn’t leave any dusty residue or flakes.

I think it does a great job at protecting and nutrition. Highly recommend. Phyto stuff never worked for me, this does.

I have fine hair and a lot of it. Gray with some body. For whatever reason a little thinking going on. This mousse is perfect. Thickens, adds body and great hold. Not only leaves hair soft, but smells great too.

Th mousse also goes on easy and distributes well. No sticky feeling at all. Allows for very manageable hair. I highly recommend this mousse.

So far I am liking this product. The main thing I like about it is it generates some volume without leaving a residue, crunch, or any other nasty side effects of a volumizing mouse. It’s been gentle on my curls as well.

It takes heat and styling to make the most of it. I like to use this in combination with Moroccanoil Treatment to deal with flyaways.

I am annoyed: zero volume, flat hair. And Fr. 30. — lost for this NOT volume foam. I have a lot of hair of normal thickness and feel zero effect. Could just as well have taken nothing. Way too expensive, especially since it does nothing at all! Moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner are also not for my hair.

They become flat, lame. for this they are over perfumed. Never again what from this brand. I have lost a lot of money this way! Not recommended!.

This didn’t didn’t do anything for my hair except for weight it down. I’ve tried it several times & got the same results each time. It doesn’t give my hair the volume or make it look thicker & fuller.

I even tried it before & after getting my hair cut. I’ve used it before blow drying & even letting my hair air dry. I’ve used other mousses that do a better job.

I saw this mousse mentioned on a beauty blog. My hair is fine and thinning so I ordered it. It really does work! My hair appears thicker and the body is lasting longer!

I’ve tried my fair share of hairsprays over the years, and this has by fair been my holy grail hair spray. Huge bottle, actually holds hair (including flyaways) and washes out easily! It is pretty thick and voids pretty much any movement, so for light, styled hair (curled and down) I spray it lightly, farther away from my head, run my fingers through it and lightly spray again.

Perfect volume and hold. For updos or more serious styled hair, I get closer to my head and use a comb to adjust as needed. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, which is pretty rare in a hair spray. Actually lasts all day, no need to reapply.

Doesn’t dry hair out, either! Great value for the money. My only complaint is the smell can be a bit much, but that’s managable!.
