My mom got it for me as a Christmas gift since I moved out and no longer had a console of my own. I love video games. The only game I could get it to work with was the mobile version of Minecraft. I played on it just last night with no issue.

This morning I plug it in get set up and it’s not working. I tried cleaning the cord part and the lighting port on my I phone and nothing. It’s still not working. I did some research and it says sometimes it just doesn’t connect.

But mine worked and now it’s not??? I’ve had just over a month. Barely. And now it doesn’t work. For almost $50 that is pure BS. idk what to do about it. I’m sad bc I literally just wanted to relax on my day off of work after having no single day off for 2 weeks straight.

And the thing doesn’t work. 😭😭.

I was excited to gift my other half this controller since he likes to play games on his phone. I figured it would be easier to use a controller than his fingers however, the games he likes to play are not compatible with this controller.

You have to download an app that has preset games. I wish I had known that. He gave the other games a try but it wasn’t for him. now it’s just collecting dust. bummer. I would highly recommend checking what games are on the app before buying the controller.

Other than that the controller is decent and the stand worked well.

This controller was purchased in late January, so any product revisions after that aren’t pertinent to this review. If you’re in the market for a well built gaming controller for a smartphone, this one seems to fit the bill.

Designed to plug into your phone’s type C USB port, it comes in two parts: a bracket to hold your phone, and the connective cord itself, which you can plug into your phone with or without the bracket.

Most newer smartphones will probably support this controller, but before purchase make sure you know what port your phone has. If a game has controller support you should be able to plug this one in and play away! The joysticks are fair for a smaller controller, and the size is smaller than a standard console controller, but it does have bumpers+rockers for L and R configurations, and a select-start type setup on the front.

The D pad is very nice, and though it doesn’t have a flat panel between cardinal directions like console controllers you do still have the ability for 8-way control with it. Clean the joysticks regularly to avoid the flaking problem most controllers with this type of material covering the sticks have.

I bought the Kishi because I wanted something more compact than an Xbox controller for playing games on my phone. For casual content, like Minecraft, it’s nearly flawless. For anything that absolutely relies on the triggers to work flawlessly, it isn’t very suitable.

The triggers seem to vary between hyper sensitive, and not sensitive enough. I can press them lightly at times and they activate fine. Whereas I have to depress them quite a lot other times and it’ll activate initially, but then again on the rebound to the neutral position.

One example is when using bows in Minecraft, I hold the trigger hard to ready the arrow, let go a bit to relax my finger, and the arrow fires and re-readies itself. In something casual, it’s okay, but I would not rely on this for say, competitive content on Game Pass.

Outside of the triggers everything else is fine. Doesn’t fit my phone with the case on it as expected. The buttons and thumb sticks are nice to use. It’s not as flimsy as expected. The passthrough port for charging works.

The Razer Kishi is a really good controller it says what it is no latency, responsive easy to connect and it’s comfortable in the hands of mobile gamers. Now the reason why my title says “decent” is because mines actually broke not to long ago an here’s why: the controller itself the way it’s built is why it’s not working anymore well at least the left side of the controller so I’ve should’ve did my research more Thoroughly in the sense of what problems did other people have when they bought there’s an how long they’ve had it before it broke.

So people had the same problem for some reason the left side just wouldn’t respond an there was 2 ways to fix this situation yourself (other than contacting support) 1. Would be to make sure you had something turn off in settings I’m not sure what it was I guessing it had to do something with tracking or mapping on your phone so just turn off those settings cause apparently it’s changing how your controller is reacting when connected to your phone.

2. Would be just update the controller if it isn’t already updated to the latest version an if it still act wonky when trying to move just restart your phone with the controller staying connected an try using it now.

Witch are some good methods if you want a quick fix but the the 1st solution is only for androids there’s no idea on how to fix it on IOS except to update if needed an restart your phone now this may work for most people so if it does Kudos to you.

But the issue is the way it’s built an it can be damage just by stretching it out now idk how that’s possible if it’s meant to fit all phones and you can fix the left side but the 2nd method doesn’t work for you BUT you need to open it up an repair it anything that’s loose in the wiring so that goes along with tools needed an how to repair it yourself for free.

In my opinion I see this as a issue an I’m blaming the way it was built I’ve never been rough with it never dropped it nor even rage so hard tried to damage it I’ve had it for 3 months an at first when I started having problems responsive wise I thought it was the game I was playing when it came to lag or delay an stuff like that but no that was just a sign of hey your “controller gonna be 6ft under soon”It’s not strong enough nor have the durability if people who bought this had the exact same issue as I did some people say it lasted a week for them it lasted about 2-3months witch is my range etc etc etc.

So I hope Razer comes out with something better an upgrade an take this a bit seriously cause for a controller that’s meant for your phone is pretty expensive an it shouldn’t go to waste or be felt it was a waste of time buying this knowing you can have the exact same issue as I did an others had.

My daughter absolutely loves this controller! She is really into Minecraft and Roblox, and was thrilled when she realized she could use this controller for both of those games. I love that it doesn’t need batteries.

The pass through charging is really handy as well! The controller itself is very sturdy and well made. I don’t have to worry about her breaking pieces off while she plays. The phone holder is very secure and we haven’t had any issues with devices falling or coming loose.

My husband also is able to enjoy this controller while he plays call of duty. We definitely recommend this!.

Tried my son’s pricier wireless controller with Diablo Immortal and liked it, but opted to go this one without the extra battery to keep charged. Other than the cable instead of Bluetooth, they both worked great for actual fighting, but both required the touch screen for any menu scrolling, which is no biggie.

However, I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max in an Otterbox case. While it did “fit” in the bracket, the bracket was slightly distorted (bent backwards), and didn’t seem like a firm grip. A smaller phone or the Max without the Otterbox would not be a problem.

I will be returning it with enthusiastic encouragement to any who don’t have the Max and case as I do.

I purchased my backbone through their website and also happened to see it on here. I have decided to leave a review since I don’t see any here at the moment. I absolutely love this controller and let me tell you why.

The build quality feels premium – yes it is plastic but it is top quality – the buttons have a nice click to them when pressed down. The triggers are analog so if you play a game that requires precision, this is for you.

Yes, there is latency while cloud gaming. It’s just something you deal with while playing (hasn’t stopped me from playing Halo Infinite). No you don’t need a backbone subscription to use this. You only need that subscription if you want to use the screenshot/record video features and the backbone app button.

A super benefit of this controller is that you can charge while playing and there is also a port for headphones. Yes this works for the new IPhone 13 pro max (the adapter makes this no problem) as I have been playing with it and had no issues.

Overall, I recommend this to anyone who loves to game on their iPhones and would like to try a controller. Didn’t give a 5/5 but if I could, I’d give it a 4. 5/5.

This is probably the best add on controller for the iPhone. I use an iPhone 13 Pro so the fit would be a bit awkward if it had not been for the small rubber add on to make it fit well. One minor issue I have is it feels slightly flimsy.

Im not rough with any of my current devices so this worries me for people who have rougher handling habits. Will it break? Probably not but with continued use I see it wearing down within a year for a rougher gamer.

That being said it feels nice in my hands, responsive and easy to install and play whenever you get the urge to play some games. I mostly play Call of Duty Mobile on it but with a free month of Xbox Game Pass I was able to play a number of different games and yes the controller is very responsive even with the cloud gaming offered with Xbox Game Pass.

Strong wifi connection is something I recommend if you decide to use this controller solely for Game Pass and Stadia.

I wanted something simple, something i could take home and use right of the box. Something that felt comfortable in my hands, something I could use for a variety of games and I wanted something that will last.

The Stratus Duo is all of that and more. I honestly did not even need to read the instructions. I simply unboxed and powered on and it was ready to play. This controller fits snug in my hands,, not to small not too big.

I wear size L/XL gloves so if you have smaller hands this might or might not be the right fit for you. This controller is solid, I have dropped it a few times and no issues. Grabbed it with food on my hands and wiped it off with a damp clothe.

No issues. Range is great. I play up to 20 feet away from my screen and pc and no connectivity issues. I absolutely love this controller and you might just too.

I have had this controller for a while. It is a very good controller and the build qualilty is nice. I have recently started to notice a little bit of a stick drift but I have also had the controller for about a year or 2 now and from what I understand these things are common with any controller.

It does not have any vibration support so if that is something you desire I would recommend looking elsewhere. The battery life is stellar and there is zero lag when playing games (typical for SS). I personally like the layout where the 2 sticks are side-by-side it mimics the PS and switch controllers better.

It does have both USB and BT compatibility which is nice if you plan to swap between PC and phone.

I purchased this controller last night. From the get go I was a bit skeptical about it. but ended up purchasing it anyways. So I go home, open the box, plug in the adapter, pair everything. Everything is going great, smashing goals in Rocket Leage and all of sudden.

“Controller Disconnected” Okay. no problem, could be that it needed to charge. Nope. Problem continues to happen. I rock out with it for the night. Wake up and go to play some other games with it. The thing won’t even turn on at this point, so I plugged it in.

Nothing. Even plugged in my broken Xbox one Controller to see if it was the cable. That one works. Didn’t drop the Controller or anything like that. Guess it decided to go out with an early retirement.

ended up returning and bought another Xbox Controller. Problem solved. Maybe I have s*** for luck but to have this many problems with a brand new controller is not right.

The Nimbus+ is terrible for any modern M1 Apple product, and you definitely SHOULD NOT buy it! They currently ship with outdated firmware. The only way to update that firmware is via the SteelSeries GG application, which must be installed on an Apple computer running macOS.

There’s a huge problem: Apple computers using M1 chips won’t recognize the controller via the SteelSeries GG app. So it’s impossible to update the firmware. Here’s the thing, though. M1-based Apple computers and the development kits for these ARM processors have been out for TWO YEARS.

And here I sit with two plastic bricks that don’t work. What makes matters even worse is that the Nimbus+ is specifically designed and exclusively for Apple iOS, tvOS, and macOS products. So how in the world does SteelSeries manage NOT to have this functioning yet?? I do NOT believe these other reviews and reviewers giving this product 5-stars.

There is just no way those other reviews are realistic. I spent about two hours troubleshooting to get the controller detected in the SteelSeries GG application using the instructions provided by SteelSeries, and nothing worked.

I have a 2021 Apple iMac and a 2022 Apple MacBook Air. Both computers work perfectly and both have M1 chips. Lastly, and most importantly: The SteelSeries GG application wants permission to log all of your KEYSTROKES on all applications.

Are you even kidding me? Do you want me to send all my passwords and banking details to SteelSeries for a silly video game controller? I think not. The Nimbus+ is ZERO stars. SteelSeries is ZERO stars.

I’ll never repurchase another one of these products.

Steel Series Nimbus plus is awesome , as it is specifically designed for the Apple products , especially when it runs so smooth with my iphone or ipad , or Apple tv. the design stand outs from with straight lines.

It will have d pad on the left , keys on the right , option , menu and home button on the center. IT do has very fluid motion sensors and button are vey nice and clicky and they don’t have lot of movement in them , rather have a very good click as they actually depressed.

The trigger also provide the bit of physical feedback while you are playing games now. However there are some odd inconsistencies with certain games , like you notice Square and an X versus X and an A , but that’s more on the game developer rather on the controller themselves.

The joystick also does not seems to have any dead kind of zone. It feels really robust gaming controller for IOS MAC or Apple TV. It charges with the lighting cable , you have to use your phone one ,as it does not comes with the one.

As far I know , it can run upto 50 hours of gameplay , which I not tested myself but its good to have the better battery life , again Its lot convenient to charge rather carry the AA battery every time.

You can pair it via the pairing button in front of the controller. This steel series nimbus plus also comes with the iphone expandable mount. I do wish that the rails inside the mounts are of the steel but those comes with Plastic , however they do feel very strong and rigid.

Its good that you don’t have to pay separately for the mount , rather it comes included in the box. You can slide your iphone it and it works Without shaking. It is the best way to play the apple arcade games , no lags , just fluid over Bluetooth as well.

I think its the huge improvement over the previous version and I would recommend definitely recommend this product.

Great controls, easy setup, no lag, great build quality. But on an iPhone 13 and 13pro the camera bump doesn’t allow it to lie flat in the controller! I don’t see anyone discussing this but it’s damn annoying.

I tried 3 different controllers and they all had similar issues – after I charge it for more than 8 hours, I would connect it to my phone and it would only last 60 seconds before I had to plug it in.

Avoid this product – it was a total waste of my time. I ended up getting a different controller (for less money) and it works wonderful.

The product constantly connects and disconnects every second over and over. Tested on multiple phones. Waste of money.

Even after charging overnight the battery drops to 75% within minutes of turning on and then 50% within half an hour. So much for 40 hour battery life. Works fine on Windows with the attached dongle however it does have a slight lag when used with an iPad mini (iPadOS 15.

2. 1) but it’s the iPhone 13 Pro (iOS 15. 2. 1) that has the most issues. Random phantom inputs with the right joystick and then sometimes doesn’t recognise XYAB inputs. Have tried resetting the Bluetooth, the phone and the controller but doesn’t seem to fix it.

I bought it because of all the rave reviews but I wish I’d have gone for a Series X controller instead. Have owned it for a week.

In PC mode, there is zero support for vibration or the gyroscope, and the shoulder throttles (L2 / R2) are on/off rather than analog. Also the spring for R2 (which returns it to “unpressed” when you release your finger) broke after 3 months of moderate use.

My Logitech F310 was cheaper, actually does everything it claims to, and all the buttons still work 3 years later. I will never buy another Gamesir product.

At first charged, but could not connect. They connected with Pimax through PiTool, but for some reason they were not shown as active and did not work anywhere, although they were green. Then I rebooted the helmet (through the button), everything became normal :+1: Just tested in Arizona Sunshine (survival mode).

I have to say, tracking is much better than WMR and so on. It was noticeable, I immediately began to put headshots and went through 23 waves (although not played a long time ago). In terms of shooting, the Vive sticks are very good: whistle: It is very convenient to aim, nothing shakes, no shiver, no jitters in general.

:clap: The touch pad is quite comfortable, but not really liked the capture buttons. They are some kind of through something you press on one side – it gives a click on the other, and so on. (apparently this is done because they are universal).

Because of this, there is a feeling of some laxity of the design, although in fact all the rules, the controllers are very strong, it is just unusual. But the most important thing is that the grips are not quite like the buttons are made, they have almost no progress, they have to be compressed with effort.

) Well, and perhaps this is the biggest complaint to the sticks Vive – capture buttons. It will be inconvenient only in those games where you activate the gripping mode for holding a weapon / something else.

Keep them for a long time will be inconvenient. Otherwise, they are quite comfortable. The trigger has a good move + a clear click at the end. Soft-touch type material from the inside, similar to a little rubber, although it seems to be hard, from the outside smooth plastic.

Do not fall out of the hands. By weight – comfortable for me, do not seem heavy, although they look cumbersome. (I always preferred the controllers to feel something in my hands) The top button is located above the touchpad, the thumb reaches out well when necessary.

The service menu button – under the touchpad, also does not accidentally click. The touchpad itself is comfortable, large, do not compare with the WMR touchpad (there it is really uncomfortable). In this regard, they are much better than WMR controllers, as well as in terms of assembly.

WMR controllers compared with them loose. Ergonomically, they are more suitable for a large palm, in my opinion. Well, with average palms it is quite convenient, but it will take a bit to get used to them after small WMR controllers or Oculus-touch.

In general, I did not regret that I took them. Soon the second base station will arrive and it will be absolutely good. (With one station, playing active 360-games is a bit uncomfortable, you still turn away from the camera from time to time, the tracking of controllers can be a little lost.

But it is acceptable to play even with one if you stand facing to the LH-station all the time. ) Interestingly, when charging, they burned orange (charged) and did not light up white (charged). But then I simply twisted the wire and after a couple of minutes the orange changed to white.

Apparently there are some glitches with the indicator for the Viva controllers Charged a couple of hours, then disconnected / connected the USB cable from the computer, the final white signal came on, unclear) I just tried Beat Saber – I managed to hit the helmet lightly, without any consequences so far) Tried “In Death” – just perfect archery with these controllers.

In general, I recommend it for all.

tldr; Don’t buy an HTC Vive unless you can afford an extra controller. This is the weak point of the HTC Vive system. One of our original controllers went dead a few months after delivery – it looks like the battery failed.

It’s something you cannot fix yourself, and it is taking months to get a warranty replacement. Many games won’t even boot up with one controller. We sprung for a new spare controller, which is incredibly expensive – more than 20 of the system cost – so that we could afford to have one ‘in the shop’ from now on and still have the use of our Vive.

If you want to upgrade your Vive pro to the new generation 2. 0 lighthouses for more range and better tracking you need these 2018 controllers. Your old black ones don’t work with the newer lighthouses.

Overall I found it to be a worthwhile upgrade.

The Backbone One has turnned out to be significantly more awesome than I expected. While I do still question the high price tag of the device, the polish of the user experience (thanks to the Backbone app) really does contribute a lot to the value of the controller and makes it a home run purchase for gamers with an iPhone.

I honestly went in to the experience expecting to hate the device – I have an Nvidia Shield TV Pro in my house and I had not had a great experience gaming with it through Geforce Now, and I also had a pretty crappy experience with Amazon Luna this winter.

However, once I got the Backbone one set up I jumped into Steam Link and it instantly worked EXACTLY as expected – the Backbone app helps you map buttons to the software automatically, and in general it “just works.

” The controller itself feels similar quality to (if a bit smaller than) the joy cons for a Nintendo Switch. With an iPhone X in the frame, the size and weight are small enough that my hands didn’t cramp as much as they do when holding a Switch for extended periods.

The buttons are pretty clicky, though, so be aware this isn’t exactly the most discrete device to game in bed or in a quiet room. The input lag for the controller itself is totally unnoticeable – when set to connect to a PC (without the iPhone in frame) it was just as responsive as a wired Xbox controller.

In fact, I played some cyberpunk last night at my desk and was really surprised that it was playable on my monitor despite streaming through Steam Link to the Backbone One. I feel like there’s an opportunity there for Backbone to make a PC companion app and make this a full fledged PC controller with a huge display for onscreen keyboard and mouse controls.

It would be the perfect controller for a living room gaming PC in that guise. The Backbone software makes it really easy to take screenshots and record highlight videos. I recorded a video from CyberPunk a few days ago and the process of saving the video, then trimming it in the Backbone app and uploading to Youtube was incredibly easy.

The video quality of the exported video is very good, as well. Of course, on the small screen of the iPhone the compression artifacts are even less noticeable. I definitely would include the Backbone One on your list of cool gift ideas for an iOS gamer in your house.

The overall implementation is just really well done and kind of amazing that Backbone wasn’t snatched up by a more established gaming company. Give it a shot!.

Bottom Line: The BackBone One White is a solid iPhone controller that can deliver near-console level controls when used with PS Remote Play. Review: The BackBone One White / PlayStation edition is aimed primarily at PS5 owners interested in using their iPhone for remote play.

The controller (with iPhone attached) most closely resembles a popular handheld console, and so the PS5 elements are more of a skin/tweak of the BackBone One design. Overall, it is a solid controller, offering responsive thumb sticks and buttons.

The controller is also really light, since it powers via the iPhone’s Lightning connector rather than internal battery. Charging passthrough (which pulses the orange button that opens the BackBone app) and headphone jack are nice additions as well.

The White / PlayStation edition also uses the triangle/circle/X/square labeling and layout, which will be instantly recognizable to PS players. For remote play, physical buttons open the PS share and start menus much like on the DualSense controller.

The BackBone One also has a dedicated button for screenshots/video recording that saves directly to the iPhone Camera Roll, which offers another way to share recordings. Although the BackBone One is a solid iPhone controller, buyers should be aware of two issues.

First, the minimalist design can’t accommodate an iPhone case, and so it must be removed each time you want to connect and play. Indeed, the camera bump on the iPhone 13 Pro creates a need for an (included) adapter, since the controller was designed around thinner iPhone models.

Second, the buttons are noticeably smaller than they are on a DualSense controller. It’s most noticeable, I think, for the L1 and R1 triggers, since I play a lot of Elden Ring. Despite these two issues, the BackBone One White / PlayStation edition offers full controller support for PS remote play, and it works well with other iOS compatible games.

The Backbone One is the first controller accessory I’ve ever had for my phone and I’m excited to share my thoughts about it with all of you. I’ll be using this with my iPhone 12 and reviewing it with several services, but specifically using PlayStation Remote Play.

I’ll be posting my overall impressions first in case you don’t want to read the entire thing. My overall experience with the Backbone One was a positive one. Other than it missing a hard case or the ability to fold down for a smaller travel footprint, the device is a completely solid, well-built, and essential accessory for anyone wanting to elevate their mobile gaming.

The ability to have actual physical controls for these games is a game changer and makes mobile gaming much more approachable for those used to PC and console gaming. If you’re looking for a premium gaming experience for your iPhone, look no further than the Backbone One.

Unboxing/Build Quality: Unboxing the Backbone One makes you feel like you’ve purchased a premium device. The box is made of a soft velvety material and the Backbone is packaged front and center in a minimalistic way.

You’ll get the Backbone One, an iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max adapter, and a quick start card, along with safety instructions that you’ll probably never read. The device itself is light but solidly built. Once attached to your phone, it feels solid and like it’s a natural attachment for your iPhone.

The buttons and analog sticks feel good, the triggers are also decent, but could use a little more resistance in my opinion. The D-Pad is a little on the mushy side, but overall the controller is built very well and feels solid.

Anyone that has played on a PlayStation or Xbox controller will feel right at home with the layout. The only drawback I can see with the Backbone One in comparison with other units is the fact that it doesn’t fold up or come with a carrying case of any sort.

Traveling with the Backbone One might be a little bit challenging when not attached to a phone. I have a fear that I may end up breaking the back support of the unit if I were to cram it into a backpack during a flight without a proper hard case.

For the price, I think a case should have been included. Functionality/Ease of Use/Gameplay: The Backbone One is super easy to use. You’ll probably have to take the case off your phone to get the Backbone connected, but that’s pretty standard for devices like these.

Once you connect it to your phone, you’ll be asked to download the Backbone application from the App Store. Once downloaded you’ll be granted 1 year of Backbone Plus which gives you a bunch of benefits as an owner of the product.

None of these limit the ability to use the product but are niceties like access to a streamlined game hub, direct live streaming, and the ability to share gameplay and screenshots easily. You’ll also get some free benefits from places like Discord, Stadia, etc.

To test the PlayStation Remote Play functionality, you’ll download the PlayStation Remote Play application from the App Store and sign in to your PlayStation account. After you’ve linked your desired console, in my case a PS5, you’ll see the home screen of your device on your phone and be able to navigate it just as if you were using the native controller in front of your console.

The input response, video quality, and smoothness of the games I streamed were all very good. Everything from Demons Souls, to Spider-Man and Uncharted played fantastically via Remote Play on my Wifi 6 mesh network.

I only experienced a few hiccups with the connection when moving locations in the house, but other than those few occasions where I felt a little lag or visual distortion, the experience was great. Don’t forget you can also stream from your Xbox or pick a streaming service like Stadia to stream from.

Streaming from the Xbox was a smooth experience as well, minus the fact that the buttons aren’t labeled correctly for an Xbox controller, but that doesn’t hinder the experience much. Local gameplay is also fantastic.

I played a ton of Diablo Immortal with the Backbone One and it was a great experience. CoD Mobile worked just as well and felt completely natural to play with the Backbone One. All other games that support a controller should also play great with the Backbone One.

These remotes are complete trash. I had 3 of the prior generation and they lasted a good 5 years or so. not great, but acceptable in my book. With this plus model, I’m on my third remote, and all three have failed in various ways within 2 weeks of owning them.

On two of them I’ve had the “lock up” failure where it just freezes and won’t turn off (yes, I updated the firmware first). I wait until the battery drains, and they come back to life after a brief charge.

The first remote, the left button stopped working after about an hour – returned it. The second remote, the left joystick would “stick” and be impossible to control. The third remote, had the exact same problem, as well as having one of the LED’s on the top panel not function.

I could live with the LED failure, but because of the controller sticking, this remote has also become useless. These things are truly awful. At $69 you’d think they’d be pretty solid. These things aren’t worth $5 – they just don’t work.

It’s just like a controller that you would use for gaming consoles. It’s heavy duty with buttons and triggers and has an ergonomic design. This box also included the iPhone mount which I didn’t think was as good of quality as the controller.

It’s not as heavy duty and doesn’t feel like it supports the weight of my iPhone. I found the weight of my phone caused the mount to keep coming out of the controller. The setup was fairly easy and the box included instructions to do so.

The controller connects to your phone via Bluetooth and the Steelseries Nimbus app (found in the App Store). Once your connected, you are able to scroll through the different games within the app and from there it links you to download from the App Store.

There are games that are free and ones you can pay for. In regards to the controller response; the triggers, buttons and joystick were all very responsive to the games I played. Overall, I think this controller is really neat and fun to use.

I would just be careful with the phone mount itself and make sure the prongs are inserted into the controller to support the weight of your phone. I think this would make the perfect gift for someone who enjoys gaming on different Apple platforms.

I originally bought a 2018 HTC Vive system which goes through SteamVR and has the 1. 0 lighthouses and standard Vive “wands. ” Upgrading to the Index controllers worked flawlessly, as advertised. Of course you can only use one or the other, but you can switch back and forth during initial pairing as your game choice requires.

The Index controllers are a great, innovative way to get finger-by-finger “tracking” into virtual space. The controllers strap onto your palm, enabling you to open your hand fully with the controller still there, or else just use one or more fingers.

There is a “pad” along the front of the controller that senses the proximity of each finger, and also it has a switch of sorts to indicate when and how hard you are gripping the controller. The good news is that this makes for a very immersive experience in cases where you are doing a lot of interaction with the environment, or in social applications like VRChat where you want maximum expressiveness with your hands – even unintentionally, as it often is the case that somebody will type or drink a glass of water with the controller on, and others can see their fingers move.

These controllers will detect partial closure of fingers, but the movement is not proportional – if you can imagine it this way, 0-100% of hand-opening in-game is achieved by roughly 0-30% of hand-opening on the controller.

This isn’t necessarily bad, but just be aware that it will not match your movements exactly, like some of the pull-type sensors do. Finger tracking will sometimes flake out, with fingers getting stuck together, or sometimes a single finger remaining closed or open.

This is probably due to subtle movement of your hand over time. To some extent this can be fixed by clenching and unclenching your hand or various fingers a few times rapidly, and the controller will usually “figure it out” and make corrections.

It’s nice that it’s this smart, but frankly I would expect a bit more consistency at this price range. A number of people report controller drift or other technical problems after several months. Usually Valve is good about warranty support for such issues, but if you’re purchasing the controllers used, or if the problem comes up after warranty, it could be a concern.

For these reasons I have to say 4/5, but it is a “high 4” I would say. Dropping a few hundred dollars for a couple of glorified joysticks is never a “good value” but people looking for these are likely more concerned about top feature content than they are about value, and the Index controllers definitely deliver a compellingexperience, consistent with what they promise.

Very happy with my purchase. I am pairing them with an HTC Vive Pro 2 and feeling really hooked on VR again. Price is a little steep to get them out to Australia but they are working great and although I have no issues with the Vive Wands, these are definitely an improvement.

They also REALLY shine in some games – namely Blade and Sorcery. Lastly, if you already have Half Life: Alyx you can submit a support ticket over Steam and get the cost of it refunded after you verify proof of purchase.

I have had many VR systems (PCVR and Quest-2). These controllers are the best. Period. It’s nuts that Valve are sold out, but it’s good to have the option to pay (even a premium) for these.

This is a must have and worth every penny. Perfect Gift for Tech Savvy Friends and families.

This item was originally acquired to prepare for eventual ownership of a Playstation VR, but in the meantime is used for compatible light gun gaming on my PS3 Superslim and it is largely intuitive in its use for such a genre, especially for its initial asking price.

Granted, one could navigate the menu without a dedicated motion reciever, but it really shines in gameplay for Wiimote-like precision. However, there are downsides to its usage. One being that the calibration is rather off compared to more accurate, traditional light gun peripherals, though I suspect that they weren’t meant to be mounted atop of 60″+ flat-screen TV when it was first produced.

Thankfully the games I have tried this option have an on-screen aiming sight so the inaccuracy is minimalized. The second downside is the on-screen maneuver of a non-rail compatible game. To be perfectly honest, panning the camera is rather clunky and slow compared to traditional joysticks and so not highly recommended even with additional peripherals for added immersion.

Still, when used on games that were truly built around the Playstation Move, they are truly immersive experiences and should be used as such. Though the infamous wiggle and waggle of motion controls for non-pointing gameplay does leave much to be desired.

Well, I think I should have just bought them at the store to get EVERYTHING it’s supposed to come with. I’ve been having such a hard time trying to get them to connect to my PS4. It didn’t come with the usb charging cable it’s suppose to come with! So disappointed, I had to dip around to find the original usb cable that came with my PS4 and after sooo long I’ve finally been able to sync one of the controllers.

I tried with the other one but I ended up giving up. I’m trying it again tomorrow but this was just frustrating. At least I figured it out a bit hopefully the other one works too.

They work splendidly, with an exceedingly fast setup and Bluetooth pairing (easy to follow instructions), great build quality and well balanced in terms of weight usability. It has come in very good handy with the motion capture system I’ve setup up on computer using a set of ps3 eyes.

If you pick them up for around 50, they are an absolute steal. Now we can all pretend were Jedi’s, when people aren’t looking.
