20 Best Vtech Baby Monitor (2022 Updated)

My picture shows up as a blue tint but in person it is black and white. I LOVE this monitor for the price. We’ve had this for a year now and no problems. It shows the temperature in baby’s room. We have two cameras in both of our kids rooms.

You can easily switch from one camera to the other. Great volume and can talk through to it. We leave ours plugged in at all times. Baby monitors with a screen are expensive, this is the best one for a good price in my opinion.

Not a great monitor. The only positive part of the monitor was the very clear sound. We chose this for our first child thinking it’s a well known and trusted brand with good reviews. We found the night vision very grainy and hard to see anything, the battery life on the actual monitor very short, and the monitor screen actually stopped working twice.

After contacting the manufacturer directly we were sent a replacement. This one was USED. It was grainy, had a film on the screen and scuffs on the white cover. It worked for 2 months and then stopped working as well.

We gave up and went snd bought a vtech one instead. [brand:angelcare].

An excellent product. Very easy to use. My only criticism is that the parent monitor doesnt hold its charge for very long so has to be plugged in all the time it is in use. This is the second set I have bought as I was so happy with the first one I had ( only bought a second as I had given the first to my daughter to use at her house!).

We previously had a Motorola baby monitor but it broke and we needed a monitor promptly. My little one is 13 months so I didn’t want anything too fancy but something that we could easily check on her.

The main things I wanted were: – Clear picture quality – A camera that can be moved and controlled from the parent control (I was surprised that some well known brands don’t do this) – A parent monitor where the screen stays on all the time (again I was surprised that big brands like BT ones black out after a few minutes) – Not insanely expensive – The parent monitor could stay off the charging plug for a period of time without the battery dying This baby monitor ticked all those boxes! The picture quality is actually better than our Motorola one, which I was surprised at.

I can leave the parent monitor on all night and longer without it being plugged in and it stays on. If you want a super fancy monitor that measures when your baby is moving/ awake/ their breathing, etc, this isn’t the one for you.

If you simply just want a straight forward monitor where you can check on your child, this is perfect. I looked at A LOT of monitors before settling on this and glad I did. Thanks Vtech!.

The monitor is ok. It does the job but the product description on the website is incorrect. It states that there are 4 natural sounds and 5 lullabies. This is completely untrue. The monitor has 4 choices in total.

2 natural white noise sounds and two lullabies which are very similar to an old mobile phone ringtone. If you want to play them to settle your baby you have to listen to them on the parent unit aswell which isn’t ideal.

The product description also states there is a night light which again is incorrect. There isnt one. The good thing about the camera is that it can be controlled through the parent unit and the picture is very clear.

It does the job we bought it for but wouldnt buy it based on the product description as i cant really say much else positive about it. A bit expensive for what it is.

Bought because it was the best reviewed monitor on Smyths website and our other monitor has given up. Disappointed with the range (often drops in our bedroom which is 10m from babies room) and only works on side closest to the bedroom door.

I also find the sound very loud dispute having it at the lowest level. During the night any movement is picked up – I know this would be a positive for some parents but when it’s beside your ear on the bedside locker it’s too alarming.

On the positive side battery life is very good.

I was thrilled to be able to try out a pre-market Safety 1st Wifi Baby Monitor – as so many of my friends, family, and reviews on websites have complained about every baby monitor on the market. Safety 1st is a company that consistently makes reliable, safe, affordable baby products so I was, again, happy about this opportunity.

Although I am not someone that cares about the LOOK of baby monitors, this one was certainly sleek and good looking – especially with the wood-like detail. This monitor hit all my needs in terms of set up and use – very easy to download the app, intuitive use of the app, and VERY easy to set up physical monitor.

I was happy to see that this can stand alone or be mounted. As mentioned, the app was easy to install and get up and running. The best part about it is that when used for travel (I just tossed it in the diaper bag with the power cord and off we went!) it automatically connects to your phone application again – just be sure to be on the 2.

4g wifi or it won’t connect at all (still not set up for 5g wifi! most monitors aren’t). The app is extremely easy to share among others, just a quick and easy sign in and the app is on their phone as well.

My favorite aspect of this monitor is that it is TRAVEL FRIENDLY. Our initial baby monitor had to be mounted, making it almost impossible to take with us. This one is now our go-to monitor to take to friends, families, and when we travel out of state.

The easy set up and easy use of this monitor has made it one of my favorite pieces of travel equipment we bring with us for baby! Thanks SO MUCH to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this baby monitor.

I wasn’t interested in a monitor with all the bells and whistles, just something functional and affordable. This thing is great. The night vision is a little scratchy but way better than I expected. The parent unit is small enough to fit in my pocket.

There is a physical button to turn the screen on and off to conserve the battery. There is a talk back feature, which doesn’t sound like something you need until you really need it. I’m actually writing this review because my baby was squirming so I thought I’d try one of the lullabies, and it put him right back to sleep.

Great product for the price.

I got this so I didn’t have to move the baby monitor from room to room. There are definitely some good and bad qualities to the monitor. Pros: nightlight can be accessed from the camera. The microphone on the monitor picks up EVERYTHING.

Sound quality of music and communication from reciever are great. Cons: camera is stationary and seems pretty zoomed in for being far away (even has a 2x zoom). If the reciever is not powered on the camera blinks the green light.

The cord is short so camera has to be kind of close to the outlet. Overall it’s a pretty good product, but it’s my backup baby monitor.

This is a great travel monitor. We have another set of monitors and decided to pick this one up for traveling. We have loved the experience thus far. Its ability to zoom around the room allows us to find angles for pack and plays that our children sleep in.

In addition, the battery life is awesome, which allows us to use it throughout the day and night on a single charge. The temp feature is also helpful in that it allows us to know the temperature of any given room so we can adjust for our kiddos.

Lastly, we really enjoy the range of this monitor. We have noticed that it stretches well and we have no concerns over the ability to have our monitor with us wherever we are within the house!.

I would strongly recommend that you do a little research and opt to spend a little more on a higher quality monitor. I have been very disappointed with the product: – The feed and audio is delayed by around 2 seconds.

Doesn’t sound like a lot – but you often hear your child crying before the monitor picks it up. Then you have a constant echo of noise as you attend to your child. – Video quality is of a low resolution – especially in night mode it is hard to make out any discernible detail – Battery life on the monitor is awful.

You’re lucky if you get a few hours out of it without it going dead. Don’t forget the charger! – Speaking of the charger, the cord for the camera and monitor is unique to the the product. So if you forget one of the cables when you’re on the move the monitor is rendered useless.

I don’t know why they couldn’t have used a universal port like micro USB. – Sensitivity feature is not great – its either hear everything or nothing at all. – Sound affects / Melodies play out of the camera with a low quality crackling.

They also play on a loop and will restart every few minutes – meaning a gap in the audio. This break in sound will cause most babies to stir.

We were recently forced to upgrade our Vtech owl monitor as we needed an additional camera and the add on cameras weren’t compatible with our unit (just the model prior to this). We loved our first unit and couldn’t fault it.

This monitor has fallen short in lots of ways, but particularly in the camera sensitivity. We set the monitor screen to the second highest sensitivity (basically just so the screen isn’t lit up all night while we’re sleeping) and the screen doesn’t light up with the thump of my son falling out of his bed.

It doesn’t light up with my son talking, or with my newborn crying. So basically it defeats the purpose of a monitor. The screen is larger than the previous model but the pixels are the same so it’s often hard to see if the kids eyes are open or closed due to the quality.

Definitely not worth the money, unfortunately as it used to be a wonderful product that I recommended to many people.

Great monitor for value. We purchased a second camera for our kids, for separate rooms. Same brand, but different model, for even cheaper. The quality of the camera is so clear, even night vision doesn’t differ.

I love the settings available, being able to talk through the monitor, and the volume settings are great. If you are outside in your yard, with the doors open and the monitor close by, you are still able to hear.

The monitor is easy and portable if you are on the go as well. Very happy buyer! Being able to have the comfort and security of knowing your babies are sleeping safely is very reassuring.

This is my favorite baby monitor ever. I have the bigger one but I searched for months trying to find the best one. I love the big display monitor so you don’t have to squint to see. So many great features and nice quality pictures.

Highly recommend this if you’re on the fence. So worth it and we haven’t had any problems.

This monitor is very user friendly. It took a few tries to get it to “find” the camera, but was able to get it operational fairly quickly. The quality of the video image is crisp and bright, even in very low room light.

The larger screen of this VTech model (compared to an older model we had) is a great feature.

Battery lasts at least 2. 5hrs. I have been using this every day for over 6months and will buy another one when I have another child. 5/5 Audio 3/5 Visual – good picture quality but the screen is almost impossible to see when you are outside.

I was super excited to finally get this wonderful little VTech Digital Audio Baby Monitor a few days ago! It’s the exact kind of baby monitor I needed & I love the fantastic nightlight that puts stars on the ceiling! This Baby Monitor set arrived super fast to my home and it was packaged so well too prevent any damage from happening to it during shipment and I really appreciated that! The VTech Digital Audio Baby Monitor set is super easy to remove from it’s packaging and it’s also really easy to get set up and started using.

Just plug it up in the baby’s room where you would to have it placed and where you would love to have the awesome stars from the glow on the ceiling night light put on the ceiling. Then charge up the parents handheld device to make sure it’s charged up for it’s 8 hour operation time.

I love the 5 level sound indicator on the parents unit because I can watch it and have the unit muted! Plus it has a clip so I can clip it onto my pants or belt. You honestly can’t beat how easy this baby monitor set is to use sand how well it works! It’s made by one of the most trusted brands I know and I it’s made very well.

It’ll last for a long time. I hope you guys give it a try and you’ll see how great of a baby monitor set it truly is!.

I utilize this as a travel monitor because it is super easy to set up and very small and portable. It can easily be packed and taken to a friend or family’s house with little effort. It does not connect to wifi and requires no pairing or channels or anything so it’s safe to use.

It works well for a basic monitor and I like that the parent monitor can also be portable and attached to you for when you are getting things done around the house. It will stand on its own when plugged in as well as long as you set it down carefully (at first I thought it didn’t because it tipped right over).

The lights are kind of a waste- they do not show on the ceiling as stated but it can double as a nightlight (one less thing to pack when traveling!!) because it provides a good amount of light. For the price point and what I utilize it for, I think it’s worth it.

For every day use, I personally prefer a video monitor.

I got the VTech Digital Audio Baby Monitor – TM8112 at the perfect time! My daughter and her family just got their own place and this gives them a piece of mind when they have to step out of the room.

I love that it has a light that shows on the ceiling. My grandbaby just stares. She loves it! The parent part is lightweight and has a belt clip which makes it easy to carry around. It has 5 sound settings.

This is really helpful for any mom or dad and a great tool! I would definitely recommend this product!.

I have been using this for atleast 2 weeks now and I am still in love. This is our first video baby monitor and I don’t think I could ever go back to my old, screenless baby monitor. This model is rechargable and doesnt take batteries, which is so handy.

It was so easy to set up! I don’t have it connected to the wifi, so I can’t speak to that, but using the menu and setting up preferences was very easy. I love that it has a built in sound machine and night light.

The fact that it tells the temperature of the room it’s in is a total game changer- I’m always worried baby is too hot or cold. The video quality is okay during the day but sometimes the night vision is blurry.

And since I don’t have it connected to the wifi it has, on a few occasions, disconnected from the camera unit and beeped annoyingly searching for a connection. All and all I would recommend this to a friend! This VTech baby monitor is excellent!! I appreciate that I can watch over my baby from either the monitor screen or the smartphone app. It makes leaving my baby with my babysitter so much easier and less anxiety provoking.

This monitor has many thoughtful features. The fact that it has a tilt angle feature so I can see so much more both vertically and horizontally than other monitors. It allows the camera to get a much larger view.

I also really like the baby sound and light recommendations. Allows my baby to stay soundly asleep throughout the night. The night vision feature on this is INCREDIBLE!! I get such a clear picture of my baby with no light it’s remarkable.

I also love that the zoom feature on this camera is so good. I get great pictures quality zoomed in as well. All in all, I am so so happy with this baby monitor. It has amazing features which keep me and mu baby at ease when using this product.

It was made with so many incredibly thoughtful features that make a huge difference! I highly recommend it.

Okay I absolutely love this monitor. I have had just sound monitors and felt those were not safe enough. I’ve had monitors where you can view via your phone but we have a very large yard and going outside cuts off the visibility and connection to the home base/camera.

This monitor, however, has a long distance range and I love it! I can go outside and ride my bike while viewing my sleeping babies. I can talk through the viewing screen, I can turn the light on on the camera and adjust the colors, I can turn music on, and I can turn the camera and zoom in and out which is very important.

The charges last quite a long time too which is wonderful. The only negative I have found is the talking feature is hard to use. I have to press the button a few times for it to finally register than I am holding the button down to talk, and there is quite a bit of lag.

If trying to answer my older children’s questions, they ask a few tines before I am able to finally answer them.

I am now on my second vtech monitor of this model in 2 years. The parent unit battery only lasts a few months before needing to be on charge 24/7. As soon as it’s unplugged it will turn off. Eventually the parent unit fails completely (at the 12-15 month mark).

I was warned about this brand of monitors and only purchased due to price and aesthetics. They’re a good price but they don’t last, will be purchasing a different brand.

I used this as a loan monitor whilst my other model was being repaired. I absolutely hated it! The screen resolution was awful and super blurry. The baby unit looks freaky as heck and the settings are represented by abstract-like icons instead of words so you have no idea what you are adjusting.

On the contrary, their charge ports are more stable than that of Oricom, and they are louder to the parent unit than my Oricom. All in all, I did not love this compared to my SC895 Oricom Monitor. And also one of the base models? ($99 one?) of the Vtech cameras was sooo much better despite the small screen.

As parents, keeping a link with our children is a necessity, especially at a young age. So, when I received this video monitor from the weeSpring Parent Panel it’s needless to say I was overjoyed at the opportunity.

Out of the box, setup was simple, it even comes with a quick start guide for those on the go and a user manual to read in full once your little ones are off to bed. It took a few minutes to get into place with a view we enjoyed for the first evening, and presto – done.

For those choosing a set place, it even comes with an adjustable wall mount. It is super versatile and fits in just about any place. The ease of having it easily blend in anywhere (and at the size of a fist, it’s virtually invisible unless you are looking for it) made changing placement easy, I never had to go out of my way to find a place or mount it in a non-permanent place.

Previously, we’d owned a video monitor that only wall mounted, so being able to move the VTech monitor around easily was a high plus. Opposed to the previous monitor, however, I was discouraged that there was no cord clamps to mount the cord along the wall in a permanent position, which safety wise is a downfall.

Easily fixable, as these are obtained at most stores, though including them in the future would add to the overwhelming features already in place. I moved this monitor around a few times to test it’s full capabilities and discovered my favorite features: the night vision and two way intercom.

This part came into play in my older son’s room, a special needs preschooler and a kindergartner who has a tendency for having nightmares, bed time became an ease on the nights the monitor was placed in their room.

We were able to sooth them before they needed to exit their beds and realize when were needed before a situation arose, we even used it a few times to peek in on playtime to ensure they were playing nicely with their infant brother.

The parent unit also gives a wide arrangement of useful tools: you can control your volume that they hear (handy for when you forget to lower it on the unit before bedtime so you don’t spook them if you have to use the talk back), check the room temp and set an alarm if it gets too hot/cold (boy, was this useful since our ac broke while testing this monitor), even play white noise or lullaby to lull your little ones to sleep (which even cuts back on additional baby registry items and saves on nursery space).

Any issue I could have thought about initially was easily solved with the useful and user friendly parent unit. The ability to add more camera units to your parent unit is a huge plus, too. Looking it over, there’s even a split mode to monitor more than one place simultaneously, which is great for parents of multiples or with different play areas that can’t be viewed at all times.

Lens wise, the additional wide angle lens made a world of difference. While I understand some parents need for a more intimate view (such as mounted over a crib), we kept the additional lens on constantly for a more far reaching view too include surrounding areas where baby may stray or brothers may be entering the room.

This option to change the view was a game changer for us. Overall, our family of five was unable to find any downsides with this monitor. It’s picture perfect (pun intended) for new parents as well as seasoned ones.

For monitoring little one while they nap, keeping an eye on bed time, or ensuring your bigger ones stay in bed – the VTech does everything you could need and more.

I have a 3 year old and 8 month old, both sleep in their own rooms, so having a great monitor to make sure they are okay all night long is essential for our family. Our current monitor situation is not great, as we need two separate parent units to monitor our kiddos and our monitor system is constantly having issues.

I have been looking for a better option, and I was given this video monitor to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. Based on our experience with other monitors and security cameras, the video quality on this monitor is not great even in the light/daytime.

It is even worse at night with the night mode, it’s rather pixelated. The wide angle lens is very easy to install, you just screw it on the front, which could be a positive and negative – all of the other cameras we have used, you change from wide angle to regular in an app, so it’s nice that you don’t have to open an app just to switch as a positive, the process of screwing it on is much much quicker.

However, if my baby is sleeping and I want to switch, that’s not really feasible without risking waking up the babes. I don’t really think that is much of an issue, because the wide angle mode seems to be way better, I would have no need to switch it back to the other mode.

The wide angle approximately doubles the view on this monitor, however, it doesn’t view an entire room. Our other monitor’s wide angle view can view an entire playroom or bedroom, whereas this really is only good to monitor a bed or crib.

With our 3 year old, I need to see if she’s out of her bed/what she is doing when she’s out of her bed, so this monitor wouldn’t be very good for her room, but would be just fine for our 8 month old that is still in a crib.

So, I couldn’t really see every part of my 3 year old’s room that I wanted to see with the parent unit, even with the wide angle lens, but I could see the entire crib in my 8 month old’s room, and that’s all I really need to see.

The sound and two-way talk-back intercom feature works well, the other monitors we have used have this as well and I have never had a need to use it. My 3 year old thinks a stranger is talking to her when I tried using it, so it was really just funny (“Mama, a girl was talking to me in my room!”), but not useful.

My baby won’t stop crying if I talk to him over the monitor, he just wants me to come pick him up, so while I think this feature is comparable to others on the market, I don’t see a huge need for it with my kids.

My favorite features on this monitor would be the ease of set up, the monitor powered right up on the screen so there was really zero setup involved, and the ease of use. It’s a very simple monitor that doesn’t seem to have many issues.

I never had any connection issues like I have with our other monitor, this VTech monitor always works when I need it to work, which is priceless for parents’ peace of mind. The parent unit is super simple to use, move the image around, turn the volume up/down, etc.

The sound quality is pretty good so that was probably the feature I used the most, as our other monitor has horrible sound quality. If you don’t care about a detailed picture and really just want a reliable monitor to make sure that you know if your baby is asleep or awake, this monitor will definitely do the trick.

I was given this video monitor to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. The VTech VM352 video monitor is definitely a full-featured model, but when using along side another video monitor, I did tend to reach for my other monitor more.

Currently my almost 1 year old sleeps in a crib in my room. I mostly use the monitor to check on him after I put him down for the night and before I go to bed myself. While the VM352 does have infrared night vision, the picture quality was not as clear as my other monitor.

I also intuitively tried to use the left/right arrow buttons to pan the camera only to find that the camera does not pan (you can use the zoom feature which then allows you to pan left/right). I also did not like that the light flashes on the camera when the camera and parent unit are not connected-I felt the blinking light was a little distracting in the dark room (I do not turn on the monitor until after I get my son down).

I think my favorite feature of this camera was the nice large LCD screen on the parent unit. Some of the other features that I liked was the ability to mount the camera, ability to play lullabies/sounds from the camera, adjustable camera angle, temperature display/temperature alerts, large connection range, and option for vibration alerts.

I felt the parent unit was relatively straight forward and did provide many different configuration options to customize to your needs. The VM352 also comes with a wide-angle lens, which is easy to attach and does add more viewing capability.

For my current needs, I did not need to use the wide-angle lens, but I did try it to watch baby in his play area and it did a good job of capturing the larger area. I personally do not use the talk-back intercom because my baby gets more riled up if he hears my voice, but I do feel this could be a valuable feature when he is older and I needed to tell him a message or he needed me for something.

Also, while I do not have multiple cameras, I like the idea that you can add more cameras and set up different modes to view the multiple cameras. Overall, I think this video monitor does have some nice features, but there are a few things that made this model less desirable for me to use for my current situation (compared to my other model.

) I do think that I will be able to utilize more of the features of this model when my son gets a bit older.

Okay i gave this 2 stars for many reasons!! Let me tell you all that the open/closed sensor doesnt come with the monitors. Another reason why its rated a 2 is that the music on the baby unit isnt very loud.

You can barely hear it standing next to it. Also the parent monitor is very very staticky and its kinda loud but still have to kinda put it up to your ear. Also i have quit using mine because the connection would come and go and that got annoying!! Not even a year later and they will disconnect for long periods of time!!!!!! Okay now onto some good things about it: i love how you can set the sensitivity on it! I also love the projector but wish it stayed on longer than 15 mins! But i can tell you right now it doesnt go up to 1,000 ft like it says!! I would NOT recommend!!!.

I can’t say enough good things about this baby monitor. We went from a piece of garbage baby monitor to this lovely one and I’m so glad we did. Our last monitor was full of interference and ridiculous amounts of tinny static.

The sound quality on this monitor is so fantastic. I live in a 1700 sq ft house and my master bedroom is on the other side of the nursery wall. I get no interference with this monitor and the sound is much better than my last monitor.

Having the ability to unplug my receiver and go about my business is nice. I also love having the ability to talk back to my baby with the push of a button. My baby loves the lights on the ceiling when he is falling asleep and the fact that the lights and music can turn off on their own after a bit is a super added bonus.

I love this monitor!.

My husband and I love this monitor. It has a decent radius, about 1000 feet outside, which is nice during warm weather and gardening season. We were looking for night times toys and stumbled across this as it has a projector and plays music.

It doesn’t disappoint. It has a start night/planet theme that shows up great on the ceiling and plays 20 minutes worth of lullabies. Which is a great perk, most toys don’t last for 20 minutes. It picks up the slightest sound and I have never not heard our daughter.

Overall, would purchase again.

It worked well once we figured out that you had to turn it off when you plugged it in to recharge. It could stand to have louder volume. The night light with music was nice when needed, but proved to be of limited value.

The temperature sensor does not exist on this product which is listed as a feature. It was a big reason why we initially chose to purchase this model. We also ended up wishing we got a model with video.

Overall, despite the fairly solid build quality, this product is way overpriced.

My daughter loves the space projecting feature on this monitor. It is so nice. It has two settings with the space feature. One that plays music, one that does not. It’s awesome too because it is on a timer.

The handheld part of the system is great and easy to use. The only downside I have found is that it runs out of its battery pretty quickly. Always recharging this thing.

Great monitor. The camera has a built in thermometer, so when the monitor is on, it tells you the temperature of the room that the camera (and baby) are in. It has different sound options, whether you want to play music or white noise, adjustable volume, and if you don’t want the volume on, the lights on top of the monitor will move to the sounds emitting from the room.

So when baby is crying, the lights go up and turn red (depending on volume of the cries). You can also choose to have the screen off as well, so if you want to save battery and turn the picture and sound off, as long as you keep checking the monitor, you’ll notice the lights, so don’t need to see or hear baby.

Battery on the monitor is fairly decent. Usage depends on the volume, and the usage of the screen, but with full volume and screen on, will last up to 3-4 hours. 🙂 The night vision is brilliant, in fact, the picture all round is fantastic and I haven’t even take the plastic protectors off the camera or the monitor.

I’m extremely happy with my purchase. 7/7 recommend.

I purchased (and returned) a $330 monitor and a $200 monitor prior to getting this one. After the problems I had with the first two (poor connection, not a wide enough view of the room/ cot, not a clear enough picture) I decided I would spend as little as possible as it was clear baby monitors just suck! I was so wrong… this little $99 gem does everything I wanted ….

Beautiful clear picture, great VOX mode, can very simply and easily just plug each unit in and they connect automatically (none of this “pairing” of units that just causes problems!) I get excited to use it! Love watching my bubba on the screen and knowing I don’t have to keep creeping into her room to check on her or fiddle with a fussy baby monitor!.

Purchased on sale for $74. The camera needs to be plugged into the wall, but the monitor has a built-in battery / can be plugged in. Our house is 3br average sized, plaster / timber. I get reception from one end to the other.

Video is crystal clear, night vision works a treat (I look for open eyes). The audio is fine (what do you want for under $100?) I can hear baby cry clearly and that’s what it’s for. I estimate a 200ms delay transmitting to the monitor, so well under a second, you’re not missing much.

I’ve used the monitor for about 5 hours without re-charging so far. The camera transmits directly to the monitor, so no need for WiFi, apps, or uploading to the internet / risk of hacks. Bunch of gimmick features I don’t use like piping low quality lullabies through the camera.

Temperature sensor is fantastic addition. My opinion is this is a superb product for the price.

Perfect for use as a walkie talkie; my wife is downstairs during the day and I’m working upstairs during the COVID pandemic. This way we can talk to each other without yelling. An added plus, I can remote into her PC and “fix” her problems.

Works exactly as described and expected. Very minor complaint is the battery discharges completely in about 15 hours. And if you are away from your baby for 15 hours, maybe you should consider putting the kid up for adoption.

We do not have a home security system, so I was excited to get this video monitor to be used to check in on the home front! The camera was packaged securely in a box and had an easy-to-follow quick set-up guide, complete with pictures and step-by-step instructions.

I downloaded the app, created an account, and quickly got the camera set up on the top of our bookshelf (with easy view of our living room, dining room and entryway), plugged into an outlet and on our wifi and up and running! Features: The picture quality is quite good, even in low light.

During the day, you get to see colors, and the picture is quite crisp. At nighttime, it is more black and white,and the quality is a bit degraded, but you can still make out what you’re looking at. There is only a slight lag between your ‘command’ of what the camera should do (i.

e. zoom in, move around, etc. ), but it is very easy to access and control through the app! I have not had the app crash or freeze up at all. You are able to preset different views, so you don’t have to pan around every time if there are certain views you like.

You can magnify the picture, which does degrade the quality some, but still overall it is still good. I liked the option of turning the motion detection setting on or off. It will automatically record if motion is detected.

There are different settings for how much motion you want to be able to activate it: low, medium and high sensitivity. The caveat to that is that there needs to be somewhere for it to store the video, either the cloud (which you have to pay to subscribe to) or an SD card that you have purchased and installed.

You do get a free trial period of the cloud, which is very helpful prior to actually paying for it. The other thing I have come to love about this is, being a working mom, I can peek in on what my family is doing when I am away for work.

I can actually talk to them through it using the microphone function, which is great, though my husband has reported a bit of a lag. I am not sure if that is due to the internet connection or an actual issue with the camera or app.

I like the versatility of this home monitor as well. You can use it for more of a security function, checking in to make sure the home is safe and sound. But this also could easily be purchased as a baby monitor, then when your child gets older, you could transition to using it as a home monitor.

You don’t have to worry about a range if you use this as your baby/ child monitor, as the only factor it depends on is that the monitor is connected to wifi. I can open the app on my phone at any time using data or wifi.

My only complaints/ concerns are: using wifi, I wonder if there would be some way for nefarious people to hack into the camera feed (hopefully an unfounded fear). I also wish they could come out with a rechargeable battery or something similar so there was not an unsightly cord hanging from our bookshelf.

If we choose to keep the monitor in this location, we will have to drill holes in the bookshelf to hide the power cord, which I am not overly enthusiastic about. I have 2 beautiful boys with special needs and my youngest needs constant attention. I cannot leave him even for a second and it would be so challenging to even see to something in another room. I needed a home video monitor that I could use to remotely check on my kids when I had to leave the livingroom that could give me sufficient coverage for the space and I could view on my phone from anywhere.

It also helps in the rare times that I had a babysitter watch the kids. Nothing is more important than my boys and I needed a monitor that I could rely on. Initial setup: The camera came in a compact box with all the parts intact.

The instructions were easy enough to follow but I did have issues connecting the camera to my wifi, and I believe it was probably because I had an extender and the camera was attempting to connect to the extended wifi rather than the main router.

This problem was easily remedied when I restarted the router. It was easy to set up the vtech home monitor app on my phone and my husbands. Camera Performance: I appreciate that the camera can pan significantly to cover a wide area.

It helps that it has 4 presets so I can decide the spaces that my kids would be spending time in the most ( the trampoline, playarea, tv space, and dining area. ) There are various settings that make sense including motion detection sensors because it would alert me if my kids came out in the miiddle of the night as my son has elopment issues.

I also like that you have the option to do local recording with an sd card. that has made it so amazing in many ways and i dont have to extra for recording. The picture image is good if your internet is fast.

We have issues with our wifi speed so there is a lag when panning / moving the camera. The option to talk through the camera is great when I see my kids doing something they shouldnt. And they are comforted knowing I can see them and they can talk to me.

I have been very happy with this camera and it has afforded me freedom and peace of mind that I have struggled with before. For those with kids and special needs kids, this has been a lifesaver. You can count on the clarity and reliability and i am so happy with its performance.

I gave it 4 stars because it took me longer to set up and because of the lag which is probably due to my internet. You will not regret this purchase. The price point is good and in comparison to the baby monitor we previous purchased which is so cumbersome because they had a wired monitor which I couldn’t take with me outside the house.

I’ve used the VTech video home monitor as a secondary baby monitor for the past few months. My wall mounted baby monitor doesn’t give me the direct view that I sometimes want and it’s accessible remotely and sometimes I need that.

I think the video quality is great during the day and good at night as well. The sound is super clear and although the movement of the camera via the app is a little jerky, it works just fine. It’s also really easy to record video as well, which has come in handy a few times, especially as my little one has learned how to climb out of her crib – fun to document and show friends and family what the little monkey is up to.

I found the VTech app itself to be a little weird. It doesn’t feel like a very sophisticated app. For example, when you initially open the app you can see the video but you can’t hear it or adjust the view.

You have to tap into the video again to open a new view where you can pan and tilt the camera and actually hear it. I get that this is because you can have more than one camera, but it just feels. clunky for some reason.

Maybe It would feel just fine if I had a few cameras and wanted to see them all at once (my feelings are based purely on using it as a baby monitor). I think the camera is super easy to install in terms of plug it in a go once it’s already on your network.

The initial setup of the app to get it on the network was a little complex, but we were able to follow the instructions and get things going without any trouble. Overall I’ve really enjoyed having the VTech video home monitor as a backup camera in my toddler’s room.

I have tried several baby monitors in my time as a parent. I would say this set is middle of the road as far as quality and value. Set up was fairly simple, except that the system does not support special characters in the wifi network name.

Because our network name had an apostrophe in it, we had to change the wifi network name and therefore all of our electronics and smart home features such as light switches, assistant devices, and cameras, had to be reconnected.

That was a pain in the rear end. Once I got them connected to WIFI it was smooth sailing. The monitor can display both rooms at one time or will toggle between the two when there is a sound. You can also turn off the display and just utilize sound which is important for people like me who have to sleep in complete darkness.

I am happy with the picture quality. Daytime is excellent and night vision isn’t too bad either. I wish these came with means to mount them or at least an option to buy a mounting kit separately. The camera utilizes an app so that you can monitor your children anywhere, which is a big reason this set was so appealing to me.

The app will send me notifications when sound or motion is detected in either of the rooms and I can label the cameras based on whose room it is in. Some of the in-app features are not able to be utilized unless you pay for the subscription.

There are a couple of features on the app that would make it more appealing: 1. I cannot live stream both cameras at one time. As soon as you hit the live play button on the second camera, the first stops streaming.

2. The iPhone will go into sleep mode despite live streaming therefore if you do not constantly touch your phone, the stream will not be continually displayed.

The Nursery Pal Link served our needs for the family. We were using two cameras from two different brands for our kids room. We bought this to combine the two. What i do like is that it has its monitor set up and you can also use the phone as a second monitor.

I like the options of both because for some systems you don’t always want to depend on your phone as the camera due to memory and using the phone for other purposes; however, when i am away from home I like to check on my son during nap time.

There is a split screen options as well. The camera can pan, zoom, and rotate. There are the options for different color lights and lullabies. ITs can be fairly loud. We have tried the lullabies with my son during the day and used the white noise at night.

It can be fairly loud so check the volume before you leave. The sound is great. There is a slighter lag on the internet. For our home the distance works well except maybe in the far end of the home. OUr home size is about 3000 square feet on a two level home.

However, we can use the phone if we got into the backyard to get something. This helps make the system more mobile. The app also has various songs and other stories as well. The voices in the stories have some expression to keep interest but my kids dont pay much attention to it.

There is also night vision which is a must for cameras. At night the zoom is great like the day time. The sound tracking also works well and you can turn off the camera and activate it for noise tracking in either camera.

The split screen can be small if you are checking on both but normally we dont use that. As for our oldest daughter room she is able to call us in the camera as opposed to walking to our room. I like this because it discourages her moving closer into our bed which we had sleep issues with bed sharing before.

This makes sure she can call us and we get her what she needs until she is old enough. We usually switch between both camera. I sometimes get a little confused switching between the two. So far for the month we had this camera, its been working well for our needs.

I broke our baby monitor so we needed something right away, and this was in stock in our CT. It has a great picture and seemingly accurate temperature measurement but the camera was so inflexible we returned it the next day.

Our house is older and has fewer electrical outlets so that could have played a part, we just couldn’t get a good picture of even half our baby’s crib. I think you’d have to mount it very precisely, high up the wall to make it work.

It may have worked had the camera have pan and tilt abilities. Another plus I will add, though: We didn’t want a wifi monitor and while this has wifi, you don’t need to use it to make the handheld unit work.

My first baby monitor was a cheap Graco one. My MIL bought it for about $14 I think and when our second baby came along I knew I wanted a video monitor especially after we moved into a bigger place. Weird and annoying! The camera cannot pan! You can angle” it manually but what you can see is what you can see. That can be a big disadvantage for parents with two small kids like us. Example- a few days ago I woke up, rolled over to check the baby monitor and saw my little cherub asleep so I got up and went to the kitchen to make my oldest breakfast and not a peep is heard from either child.

When I go to get my oldest she’s not in her room and we keep all the other doors closed at night except her room and ours. I walk into her sister’s room and there she is pasting Desitin onto the toy chest, walls and changing table out of view of the camera! She had woken up and opened her sister’s door and strolled right in to fulfill her little Picasso dreams.

For me part of the point in having a video monitor is to be able to see when I’m not there. The lullabies that the camera plays are cute but even on the loudest setting they’re barely audible. That’s really a bummer.

Another downside to the camera is I have noticed a bit of a lag between the feed and actual real life. Although it is in color during the day the colors look way off so if you’re using this to monitor child having playtime it could be possible to miss some tiny something due to the color thing.

You can adjust the LCD but it doesn’t really fix the issue for me. It may have to do with the fact that the nursery is a very vibrant color. I’m not totally sure. All in all this monitor is ok. I’m not wowed by it.

It’s features are alright and it does good enough of a job for me to not return it. I just expected less issues from this and if I’m completely honest it is just not the right monitor for me and my family.

I got this item as a very generous gift when I was nervous about switching from the bassinet to the crib. What if she got sick in the night and I thought she was just fussy??? What if she hit her head? What if she got her arm stuck in the railing?? I couldn’t rest not knowing and when my sound only baby monitor broke (safety first brand) I was beside myself.

Then this little gem came along and saved the day. I can see her so clearly on the monitor day or night. The sound is crystal clear!! I can hear even the smallest noise. The sound activated system was super annoying but if you turn the sensitivity all the way up that goes away.

The talk back feature is great. I imagine when she’s a toddler and misbehaving it will be most handy. The zoom is very nice but not usually necessary because the picture is great. I can see her eyes open, her chest moving up and down, even her pacifier moving❤️ But I think the thing I love the most is the temperature alert.

We live in an old drafty house. In the winter it can get pretty cold and wake the baby. You just tell the monitor how cold/hot is the limit and it wakes you up when you get to that limit. No more midnight crying because the furnace kicked off!! The screen is a great size for the price and the night vision is perfect.

I have no doubt that I will purchase another camera for my second child in the future I would give this 6 stars if I could.

I bought this monitor 2 months ago & really love using it! I have no complaints. It has so many features that the more expensive monitors have without having to pay their higher cost! It is well built–solid–not cheap looking.

I love the large screen view for 1 camera, which is all I need, but it has the split screen viewing capability of up to FOUR CAMERAS at one time. I don’t know if the reduced size of multiple camera views would be sufficient or not.

I used to have one wifi monitor for whenever I was at work and a basic monitor for use at home. This replaced those two monitors. It also replaced the sound machine which I love because it’s nice not having to control so many different things.

At first, When I first saw this my first thought was wow this is a huge monitor. Once I had it connected and scanned around it was nice being able to see the entire room with clear visibility. Everytime I look over I’m amazed at the HD quality.

The pairing was smooth and I haven’t experienced any connection problems. The monitor does need to be charged often but I do keep the screen on all night and don’t think the battery life is terrible especially for the size of the screen.

Overall, I definitely recommend and I experienced no issues with setup.

I’ve never been able to see so much area before. So we are using this for our toddler playing as well as baby sleeping. The monitor is huge! 7″ of quality picture during the daytime and nighttime. It also has amazing zoom capabilities! Plus it has infrared night vision, making it super easy to see baby at night.

That’s always been one of my biggest complaints with other monitors. Now it is no longer an issue! You will have fun playing around and learning all the cool things this monitor and the app can do! I’ve gotten some great tips from the app and though I haven’t used the WiFi a ton on my phone, it’s a really nice option to have!
