20 Best Waders For Women (2022 Updated)

These waders are beautifully form fitting, and designed to hold up from what I can tell. The lower half truly feels like 5 layers of fabric and the built in knee pads really help on the jetty. I am not aware of any other waders on the market that have removable knee pads.

I have not abused these waders as for some reason i go overboard to make sure they are rinsed, and stored properly…. maybe it’s because they were a big investment lol. I truly feel the difference between these waders and the previous waders I had which leaked after just 6 months.

Time will tell, but the quality on these is nothing short of remarkable. It’s to boot that Chris over at the Westbury NY Orvis store was more than a sales person he was an experience creator, a savant….

the type of guy that wants to make sure you have the gear to help you fish hard and in the worst weather. He helped me pick exactly what I needed to own the beach AND the jetty’s…. match these up with the BOA boots and you are going to feel like you are wearing a Cadillac around whatever fishing hole you call home.

The only thing I might have gone just a little farther with is the fleece lined pockets…. I would have gone nuts and done a heavier warmer fabric on both sides of the inner of the pocket. Other than that I cannot say I’ve looked sexier while fishing….

but I would gather thats what Orvis was going for. Very tasteful where they put the brand logo…. it’s sort of whispers Orvis to the corner of your eye. A huge thanks to Orvis for making such a wonderful product.

I bought these from a local fly shop in mid to late summer 2021 and by the following summer the waders were leaking profusely to the point that there was moisture below the knee on each leg and each neoprene bootie had an inch of water after every outing.

Also the gravel guards were somewhat useless and I consistently had pebbles in my boots when fishing. I was careful to take care of the waders. I could also not find any holes in the waders and determined they were leaking at the seams.

At the same time I purchased a pair of Clearwater boots on sale due to the model no longer being available. The boots both failed at the inside seam after one year of use. I guess you get what you pay for.

I purchased the Pro waders and will most likely purchase the Pro boots. If the Pro equipment fails me it’s time to try another brand. I do have to say that after one use the Pro waders were very comfortable and the gravel guards are amazing.

It is obvious that the Pro waders are made of higher quality material, are much thicker (5 layers) and the craftsmanship is at a much higher level. I am anxious to see how the Pro equipment stands the test of time.

I would have given them five stars but for the absence of the side belt loops. I carry some gear on the belt and when you unbuckle the belt (as when relieving your bladder streamside) the gear falls off the belt unless you remember to buckle the ends behind your back.

One other minor complaint is the length of the suspenders. They are so long that I have them tightened as far as they will go and they just barely fit me while wearing a light shirt (I’m 5′-10″ tall with a long torso and a 44″ chest, and weigh 165 pounds).

When I wear heavier clothing they’ll be fine. I will rate them otherwise as being true to size. I will say these newer G3s are lighter and more flexible than the old style. And folks with muscular calves will find them easier to take off.

The gravel guard hems are elasticized so we’ll have to see how that lasts. All in all they’re very comfortable and appear to have improved breathability as claimed.

I bought the full because they were majorly on sale. My budget for waders was around $300. These are a much nicer model on sale for what I was going to spend on a more entry level model. My measurements are 40†hip, 30†waist, 36†chest, size 8.

5 shoe and I’m 5’4†tall. I can wear a small or medium and sometimes petite but it’s hard to find a small with an 8. 5 stockingfoot. I was worried they’d be extra baggy because of the “full†sizing but I honestly didn’t notice a difference.

I’ll have plenty of room for layering. I think maybe this model with the zipper allows for a more tailored fit than some of the other entry level waders I tried on. Glad I didn’t order a short or petite.

I needed the extra length in the leg to bend down. Really excited to try them out!.

I actually bought these to be used as my main winter fishing waders. They’re very warm and I have outlasted the other fishermen standing in the water for hours. My feet don’t get cold! The only improvement I would suggest is for Gator Waders to use a more sturdy boot.

These boots are warm, but they’re soft all around, at the top cap and sole and have very little structure. Your feet will be in pain after standing for a while on a rocky riverbed. On mud or sand, it’ll probably be fine.

I would pay a little more to have higher quality boots. If anything fails on these waders, it’ll probably be the boots first. We’ll have to wait and see!.

Busco beach “mud bash” 2021 I purchased me and my wife brand new pairs of waders “ New colder camouflage pattern” from the gator waiter booth. When I purchased these I paid cash and did not receive a receipt at the time of purchase.

I did not think anything of it because I’ve heard great things about them. After the second time wearing they started leaking around the boot where the wader meets the boot. I reached out to several different people even the CEO on Facebook messenger.

being I’m not able to provide a receipt they would not repair the waiters. obviously they were new because they were the new pattern. This was very upsetting to me that they would not make this right after only wearing two times.

Product works as it should just fits a little tighter then i thought really needed a size 15 boots are very snug!

They are great. They fit well and hold up well in the lake. I have used them several times and they work well. It was a great purchase and the price was very fair!! I would recommend these to anyone needing waders!!.

I never had waders before and did not know what to expect. They fit a bit snug, but not as much as a wetsuit. I purchased a small. I am 4’11” 113Lbs. They keep me warm and dry and stretch comfortably.

I wear lightweight tights and what ever weight shirt I need. They pair well with the caddis fishing boots. Now, to catch some fish!.

Seemed to be well-made for the price. However, they were too large to use, so had to return them. I ordered a size 10; based on the pair I received and tried on with thick boot socks, a size 9 would be the right choice.

Purchased for a fishing trip in Alaska. By day three both boots were leaking, but could never figure out where. That wasn’t the worst of it, I always had a mild allergy to neoprene, but these waders if sweated in will cause the worst reaction of your life.

Not all neoprene products have this bad of a reaction, but surely the quality of this product will make you regret using it.

Bought these to put in my pier on a cold spring day. Amazed by the warmth of the neoprene and no leaks! Love the easy velcro closures. I’m a female, wear size 9 shoes, bought the men’s size 7 and fit was fine with heavier socks.

I am writing this review, under the assumption these things are waterproof. as I have not yet fished in them. They are, however; extremely well constructed and fitting. Others have commented on the overall length being ridiculously long.

like it would fit a giant. I’m 6’0″ 210 lbs. , and they fit fine. When I first took them out of the box, I thought I was going to need a step ladder to keep the from hitting the floor. I was very skeptical, but put them on anyway.

While there is some gathering of the material, I wouldn’t say it’s excessive. These are obviously made to fit different height people. Some will fit long, some just right. but none too short. Makes sense to me.

The fit from crotch to shoulders is perfect and well fitting, and has alot of room for adjustment on the suspenders.

Purchase these to replace leaky pair purchased from an inferior manufacturer. They hold up well and keep me warm and best of all no leaks. Love the detail and extra material. I also love shopping at TackleDirect.

They always have what I need and they get it to me quickly and a great proce!.

Ive been using the Caddis guide tough waders for years because Im a cheap jerk and didnt want to spend the money on 2 pairs. Wow! These are light and comfortable. You can walk miles up river in these without breaking a sweat.

I bought the other ones because I fish in super cold temps as well. But summer use was always brutally hot. I love Caddis systems. They make great waders.

I liked how light they were and the boots seem sturdy enough. Nice having a bib front zipper pocket. I was in almost chest-high water but I stayed dry. However I only used them twice so far. will take time to know how they hold up.

They don’t fit ideal because there is a lot of material and I’m short, so using the drawstring really helped to keep them snugger. But then the string came out of the cinch closure on the 2nd use when I went to tighten it, and the tab on the string broke off.

I didn’t use a lot of force, so that shouldn’t happen. That part is not well made and makes me worry about the rest of the waders. Hopefully that’s the only negative I’ll experience.

I ordered these three times in size 7,8,9. I am a fairly normal sized/shaped dude, 5’11 165 pounds, size 10 shoe typically. These don’t even come close to fitting. The in-seam is way too high and the feet are way too small.

I can’t imagine someone with such small feet having legs/torso long enough to fill this product out. The quality of the product seems to be there, but again, I just don’t envision these fitting any normal man.

These waders seemed like the perfect replacement for a pair booted Chota waders that have served me well for over 10 years. When my Chota’s died I switched to stocking foots for last fall’s Erie steelhead season.

My feet froze, neoprene socks didn’t fit, I paid $40 for a pair of wader socks that didn’t help much. I like the Sim’s products but I may not have enough yeas left wading to justify the expense. The Frogg Toggs Steelheader waders seemed like a perfect replacement.

I’ve always felt secure with felt bottoms and besides the warmth factor I’m always on the steam well ahead of my buddies with their stockingfoots and boots. I’ve even strained my back putting on the stockingfoots.

So I ordered a pair of 10 foot size Steelheaders. When I unpackaged them they were huge. I held them up and they were taller than I was. I thought I could live with the 38 inch inseams which are 11 inches more that I needed.

But with a boot height of about 12 inches that left the 11 inch excess bunched up into 26 inches of length. I couldn’t get the waders on with the felt liners in place. It is a waste of money to just remove the liners.

Also the 51 inch chest (and probably waist) diameter was way bigger than I imagined for someone with size 10 feet even if I am on the heavy side. I wish the Frogg Toggs people would hire someone who knew something about sizing cloths.

I love the features of these boots but cannot wear then because of the sizing issues. If you can, go for them. I returned the waders to Bass Pro Shops and had no problems despite the fact that Frogg Toggs had shipped direct to me with no invoice or paperwork in the package.

Hope this can help folks. Two problems with these of which I did not learn until out and the field and geared up. First, the velcro on the shoulder straps is pretty weak. They held but even with out any accessories on the d-rings, the velcro would come lose.

It would still hold, but not stay completely connected. Now, try adding a string of duck calls to your d-rings, or a bandoleer, or something similar and the straps will come completely loose or come precariously close to coming completely loose.

Second, albeit less important, but just as annoying, is the hand warmer pocket has a small hole at the bottom where they did not join the stitching. The problem with at is since I could not put my calls or bandoleer on my d-rings, I had to put them in the pocket.

The was big enough, that I lost a shell through it. (steel shot isn’t cheap!) Fit for me: 6ft, 220ish Length: Good length. Plenty of room Width: snug. not sure if I would be able to layer well for later in season.

Boot: a little big, but not too bad unless you are walking a lot in them. easy to get foot out. Temp: 3. 5mm neoprene with 600g insulate in boot. worked good, but could feel some water temp coming through even on early season.

Other than these issues, they are decent and seem built well. Recommendation: probably should steer clear. looks for waders with quick release buckles for shoulder straps.

They seemed good. Unfortunately I messed up and order these. I hunt in Southern CA. There is no need for insulated waders. Temp rarely is below 50 in the AM and early morning usually gets warm as soon as the sun comes up.

Price was the main reason I had jumped on these so hastily in my opinion they were worth every penny at the clearance price.

With previous Neoprene waders I’ve had they would have to dry out and you would feel damp after a morning hunt. With these waders the water beads up on them and they’re dry before I get back to the truck.

The size is bigger up top for wearing a jacket inside of them. I love the quilt lining, and how light weight they are. I’ve been wearing these waders for about a month hunting about 4 to 5 times a week in them and I love them.

I CAN MOVE IN THESE WADERS! Getting in and out of the boat is much easier. I wouldn’t use these to get through a patch of briars but I’ve walked through some and they don’t even seep water. It got cold last week and these waders were just as warm as my previous neoprene waders which was a surprise.

I’m 5’11” and weight 175 my waist is 32” and the waders look puffy which is different from what I’m used to but with a jacket on the inside of the waders they fit perfect.

I bought these this summer. I think they were around $160. The boots are ok. They aren’t the most comfortable. I wear a 13. I am 6 foot and about 215. They are kind of tight through the hips. I will use them as back up waders.

They are ok for the price.

leaked after 2nd use. Left foot soaked due to pinpoint hole at edge of outer seam at knee. The material is just too thin and presume just standard walking caused the leak at junction of seam edge and material.

I literally was just walking and not rough on them at all. Another reviewer had a leak at what seems to be same area. Otherwise they have some nice features but I wont buy again. cold and wet feet are no fun.

Waders fit as expected, however belt loops are misplaced on wader. They sit extremely low (around the pelvic area) at least by 3-4”. Makes for an uncomfortable fit.

Cheaper than other brands but gets more the use. I like how they have a strong outer layer to help prevent puncture. When through 3 pairs last year and those might be the ones.

I am very pleased with my Redington Sonic Pro Waders! I had ordered the Large Short, and for only being a 5’ 7†person with a 31†inseam they fit perfect. Previous waders after wearing for a short period of time the croch would be down around my knees.

My new Redington’s are a little tight around the chest with a heavy coat on, manageable. I received the Redington’s around April 1st and have already put them thru many days of use fishing the spring runs of walleye in the tributaries of Green Bay in Wisconsin.

With the early spring river temperatures running in the low to mid 40’s I was really surprised that my feet and legs didn’t freeze. They were cool but tolerable. Very satisfied with my new Redington’s.

Let me preface by saying that these did not work for me – simply too large. I am 6’3″ tall with a short torso (size regular or medium backpack), 290 lbs, 39″ waist and 54″ chest. I wear a size 14 trail runner and a size 13 hiking boot and dress shoe.

I purchased the size 3LL. There is no 2XLong only 2XR. This may sound like a negative review, but I am just trying to be concise. In fact, as soon as the XLL is back in stock I am going to try them. The good: These look amazing – I don’t believe there is a better looking wader on the market.

The front zip is money and the pockets are amply sized (both hand and storage). I imagine these would keep you dry (from the outside) indefinitely. The feet were perfectly sized for a 14. The Bad: Huge.

Certainly, there are benefits to extra girth and length, but these were massive in size. They were +/- 6″ too baggy around my chest and stomach and even with the sides cinched all the way, they were still +/- 2″ too big for how I like waders to fit.

The legs were also very loose and they were a little too long. They were hot. damn hot. but it is very hot and humid in Memphis. The fleece lining in the booties made my feet sweat immediately. I would have preferred a more common quick release buckle.

I really struggled with the clips for the harness while wearing. I do think I would get used to this, but it wasn’t intuitive at first. As far as a comparable wader, I can really only compare these to the Simms G3 Guide in a 2XL.

– these felt much heavier than the Simms. – the material felt less supple (it seemed thicker and stiffer). – I believe the Simms breathe better. – Again, 3X vs. 2X, but there is more than a 1X difference in the 2.

– the booties are cut larger. Simms are a little tight on me. I reached out to Patagonia for the actual measurements – this would have been super helpful and saved me from trying the 3LL. Actual Measurements of 3LL: 61 Waist / 62 Chest / 37 inseam from gusset to floor.

Have worn these on a number of trips so far and they have been excellent. Great features, the internal waterproof pocket and the ability to pull the waders down to waist level without having to take off the suspenders are the two standout features for me.

They seem very durable but the material is not heavy or hard to move in. They are cut well for movement, much easier to move in than my previous waders which makes longer walks/climbs across uneven terrain less taxing.

The only negative I have is the waist belt ends often come out of the last waist loops whenever the belt is undone, requiring the belt ends to be pushed back through the next time it is done up, however this is a very minor issue.

Overall these are excellent waders and I am very happy with the purchase and the service I received from Tom’s Outdoors.

The fit was just fine in the body(they are snug but good), but the boots claim to be for size 12-13 for medium longs and are not even close. I looked them up on patagonia’s site and the sizing charts do not match with BC’s.

Also, the middle fork and swift water waders charts differ which makes no sense being the same brand and style. In my opinion any long size should offer a bigger shoe size. Very few 6’4″ guys wear 9 to 11 shoes.

So long story short, if you’re 6’2″ to 6-4″ with size 9 or 10 then you’re set but if you are actually size 12 or 13 then they are not wearable. Otherwise, if you dont have a boot size issue the waders seem great for a summer lightweight wader.

I love the design to lower the chest on hot days.

They’re Patagonia so it pains me to rate them 1 star, but the fit is brutal on these. The crotch is too high, I think? Couldn’t figure it out, but to get the top of chest and waist belt to the right spot you have to give yourself a perpetual wedgie.

It’s not great. No clips on the shoulder straps is also super annoying. These two things are deal killers since its hard to catch fish with traumatic crotch damage. Tried a couple of sizes and this was the story on all of them.

not sure how they managed that, but at least its consistent.

I had a pair of LL Bean’s Emerger stocking foot waders in medium for several years before one of the neoprene boots sprung a leak. I was very pleased that LL Bean gave me store credit towards the purchase of their new Double L Stretch stocking foot waders.

They seem to be good quality. That said, several features of the new waders could use improvement. (1) The new waders have tapered legs and neoprene boots that are very tight fitting around the ankles and shins in comparison to the Emerger waders, meaning that they tend to cause the cuffs of my pants to bunch up around my shins when I put the waders on.

I am concerned about what this could mean when I need to wear long johns and thicker pants in the winter time–the lower legs will be quite tight (and it will be more difficult to put these waders on over layers).

(2) The internal waterproof pouch is significantly smaller on these waders than on the Emergers. I typically carried my phone, wallet, and car keys in the waterproof pouch of the Emergers. I struggle to fit anything more than the hole-sealer patches into the waterproof pouch of these waders.

(3) The crotch of these waders sits significantly higher than on the Emergers. While some may feel this makes these waders more streamlined, I’ve found this to be somewhat constricting. Again, I worry about what this could mean in the wintertime when I wear multiple layers underneath these waders.

Overall, these waders in medium are far more form-fitting than the Emergers in medium were. My wife admires their “tailored” look, but from a practical standpoint layering for fall and winter fishing will be very tight, despite the waders’ built-in stretch.

I’m not a large guy (5’11”, 155lbs), and the bottom line is that these waders are quite tight.

These are my first pair of waders so I have nothing to compare with but I’m happy with them. They are super lightweight though I do feel like an astronaut with them on–I guess that’s part of the adventure! There’s a big waterproof pocket on the inside but I still put my phone in a waterproof case so that I can take it out easily and grab a photo.

So the supplied pocket is used to hold the phone, tippet, protein bar etc. My DH puts his cigs and lighter in that pocket. The front pocket is a hand warmer or glove/hat storage compartment. They are easy to put on.

The do stretch and move with you. My only gripe is that when I bend down the back of the leg comes up over my wading boots–I’ve been working on lowering the waders by lengthening the suspenders but baggie trousers are harder to walk in so I’m still finding the right balance.

I got the small–I’m 115 lbs, 5ft 3. and to fit perfectly (like I’m heading on a date) I need to pull the suspenders to the smallest/shortest length. If I want a little more flexibility so my boot top doesn’t show, I have a lot of suspenders to work with to make the suit slouch downward.

So if you are taller than me by a couple inches these will work. No water gets in through the fabric–it is waterproof. I wear exercise pants underneath and that seems to be a good combo so far. What totally amazed me was that water doesn’t get in through the booties either–hooray.

The booties also keep my feet warm–I still wear merino wool socks underneath. Also the booties are not too awkward–I can get them into the wading boots easily. Looking forward to suiting up and getting out there again!.

Used the new boot foot Super Seam waders: TA512802, after having to return the previous Emerger waders due to leak. Had to pay the 75 standard service fee along with the price difference between the old and new boot foot waders.

Understandable. However, these new waders are not to my liking. They are tissue thin and I felt the difference as soon as I got in the cool water. The water resistant pocket zipper on the old style has now been replaced with a much cheaper version.

Although the pocket was never waterproof, at least the zipper offered some water resistance. I guess it makes no sense to put a more expensive water resistant zipper on a pocket that is not waterproof at all.

So why keep it? The horizontal quick stash pocket on the Emergers was horizontal. Made it easy to reach the bottom. Now, they replaced it with a long, narrower version. I assume they made it more accommodating for a cell phone.

I used it for keys, etc. Now I can’t get my hand in there and have to lift the pocket to allow the contents to drop into my hand. How annoying! Also, the photo of the new waders looks like the old ones, colorwise.

Interesting. The only reason I will have to continue to purchase these is for the 400 gram thinsulate boots.

I own lots of waders, but none of them even hold a candle to my Orvis PRO Zipper Waders. The fit is perfect for me — trimmer than those traditional rubber sails they sell at the big box stores, but with enough room to comfortably layer underneath in a myriad of conditions.

I wear these in the Spring, late Autumn, and Winter, reserving Summer trips for my Orvis Ultralight waders, as the PROs are just a bit of overkill when the temps exceed 75 degrees or so. One features to critique: the knee pads in these waders.

They are too stiff and ultimately create fatigue over long days on the water. I also don’t spend a ton of time kneeing in the stream, so it’s a non-factor for me, and they’re removable so it’s not a big deal.

At the end of the day, it came down to these or the Patagonia Swiftcurrent Expedition Zip-front waders (I bought them both and returned the Patagonias), and the combination of fit, quality, and pocket options in the these was heads and shoulders above.

Highly recommend.

Hello from Missoula, MT! I needed to replace an old pair of waders and after doing a ton of research including talking to several of my guide buddies, I purchased the Orvis Pro Zipper waders this past winter and absolutely love them.

I have owned a lot of waders over the years and I now believe Orvis makes the best premium waders on the market. These waders are warm, extremely durable, well designed and fit really well. This is my first pair of Zipper waders and I can tell you that I am never going back to regular waders! My friends and I spend A LOT of time on the water and having great waders is central to living the good life in a place like Missoula.

Whoever is responsible for the design of the Orvis pro line I say “Well done!” If the design team ever finds themselves in Missoula, MT the beer is on me.

After more than 20 years in waders, these are the best for durability. I do a lot of walking and wading when wearing waders. It is nothing to cover 8-10klm plus and or spend anywhere up to 7 hours actually wading around lakes etc.

This set have lasted 2 years of around 100 fishing trips through Highland heather, blackberry and gorse and repeated daily use. They hae still to let any water in. The only time I get wet inside is by hiking 5klm or more in 35c or close to 100f summer sun.

I would have easily clocked over 400 wading hours in this pair. Most of my wading is thigh to belly button deep. I have averaged a pair of waders a year trying all brands but these have been the best ever.

Not to say they are perfect. The knee pad whilst a great wear resistant feature can also restrict flexibility, particularly when trying to put on fins for a float tube. The waist belt is a little lower than I would like in a wader belt, more on hips than waist.

I do enjoy several pockets and waterproof pockes for wallet, keys and mobile, means the phone can be accessible when wading just daring me to drop it whilst talking and wading. Multi layers come in teal handy in snake country.

I had an unseen tiger snake strike at my leg but these waders did not allow the fangs to penetrate. and those soft plastic fishers who wet wade in thongs (aus slang for flip-flops) laughed at me till the same snake escaped into the water beside them.
