15 Best Water Heater Blankets (2022 Updated)

Pretty easy to install even though my water heater is in the corner of a garage. I got it after the great Texas freeze, but hopefully it’ll save on electricity going forward. The insulation is thin and easy to manipulate, just hope its not snake oil.

I like the concept of this. I bought because my hot water heater is ours and during the winter It runs out way too fast. So far it dont seem to be e making much difference Im thinking of wrapping it an additional time to see if that helps.

A great product, quality with a roll of quality silver tape. We have a standard 50 gallon water heater and went around the heater twice, ad the directions tell you to do. Problem is that it is about 6″ to short for a standard size water heater.

Luckily there were enough scraps to piece together enough to completely cover the heater.

Greenlee makes good products. This in particular is short. Does not heat up a large enough section of pipe. Cant even bend a 90 without heating 2 sections. Does work but slow. Must have patience.

We bought one of these almost 20 years ago. I was recently surprised we not only still had it, but it still works like was when it was brand new. PVC bending isn’t the fastest process but this is a great tool.

Greenlee by Far makes the best heat blanket in the market. The heat blanket works fast and is very reliable and it will last for years. Zero maintenance.

ABSOLUTE PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! Shoppers should look at the large number of 1-star ratings before buying this pool cover and before buying from this seller. Another customer had the same experience as I did but their cover disintegrated in four months.

Should I feel lucky that I got five months??? No! Should the company replace or refund my and the other customer’s money? Yes! Are they going to??? No!!! They are not standing behind their product. Their warrany is meaningless.

I’ve been buying pool covers for nearly 20 years and this is the first time a cover has not even made it through a single season. All others have lasted for at least two years! I am wondering if this cover sat in a warehouse for the past 2.

5 years during the pandemic. I will never again buy anything from “Save More on Pool Supplies”. What an ironic name! After 5 months of use, I need to Spend More on Pool Supplies to replace this bad cover.

I hope that Walmart takes a strong look at the vendor they are partnering with. I hope that Walmart sees that their own reputation is marred by the actions of their partners.

Awesome pool covers at a great price. I have an in-ground L shaped pool, so I ordered a larger size cover 40×24 and cut it to fit 36 X 15 X 22. Ordered the 12 Mil thick cover and it works much better than I expected.

Cold here at night (central Florida) 40and I have my pool heater set at 88 only running from 9 am to 5 pm. Actual water temperature during the day is about 86 because my pump and heater is 200′ from the pool.

When the system starts in the am, 16 hours later, with cover ON overnight my water temp for a 25K gallon pool has only dropped 2 or 3 degrees. It used to take till 5 pm to get my pool back up to temperature, this cover will pay for itself in energy savings very quickly.

I call that impressive.

We just opened up our 18 X 36 rectangular 1200 series Sun2Solar pool cover. It’s like saran wrap! It’s so thin it wants to tear and blow in the wind. I doubt that it will even be heavy enough to stay on the pool.

My last pool cover was 4 or 5 times this thick and cost half the price. I would NEVER buy this pool cover again. In fact, I will never order on line again. I’d rather pay more and see what I get before waiting to get something that isn’t what I expected and have to deal with it.

On a boat that has crossed the Atlantic twice and is now in the Pacific heading for Alaska. I seem to have a slight leak in my 25 year old Raritan. And even after 25 years, the leak is probably my fault because i did not realize there is an anode (aka zinc) that I should have replaced eons ago.

This water heater will keep the water very hot for 12 hours, hot for 24 hours and warm for 48+ hours and that’s in cool climates and sea water. The only option is with or without an heat exchanger, which uses the hot coolant from the engine to heat the water.

I obviously like that because I run the engine a lot and it uses no electricity until I need to run the generator. Again, boats are tough on things like water heaters, boats in salt water even more so, so 25 years is as much as one could possibly hope for.

i know it will be my last water heater.

I have limited space and luckily Raritan has not significantly changed the size and footprint of this hot water heater. That said, there is a new trim on the bottom that is larger than the stated diameter of the water heater.

My version has the heat exchanger option but was easy to install because I was replacing an older worn out water heater Installation is more difficult if you need to route engine coolant to the water heater.

All in all, this is a pretty easy nuts and bolts plumbing installation.

So far so great after about six months. I installed it in our 1988 Californian 45. The water is scalding hot after running the engine, so we need to remember when pulling in and using hot water. Ideally there would be a valve to regulate circulating water.

I have bought over 6 pool covers and other companies/ covers last at least 3 year and this was the worst and fell apart after 1 year. Bubbles started cracking after 1year. Bubbles fail because of chemicals??? Yes chemicals are in pools and how do they know my pool is not correct.

I have a pool service every week. So you suppose to rinse the top of the cover with fresh water every time you take it in and out of the pool. Makes no sense garbage. In the swim response: Bubble damage is not covered under warranty, because the manufacturer did research at the end of 2015 with their covers to try and figure out what causes bubble damage.

The most common reason they found was a chemical issue with the water of a customer’s pool. Whether it is a constant balance issue or an issue that happens just once, once chemicals deposit on a cover it stays there until clean fresh water washes it off.

Chemical issues with covers has never been covered under warranty, so in January 2016 they discontinued covering bubble issues under warranty.

I highly recommend this cover for your pool. We likve in Sunny Northern California and have 8 weeks at or over 101F. WE currently have 6 weeks from 99-113F. I cover the pool during the day to reduce evaporation and open it at night to keep the water cool.

I also bought the reel to easily move the cover on and off, DO THIS !! excellent. Only get 1 year’s use and then then start to loose the little bubble caps. Great Bargain when you thin of the fact that I have not added water to the pool in over 5 weeks now!!! thats huge here is drought ridden CALIFORNIA!!!.

I used this off and on in the early summer but found I really didn’t need to use it when the evenings only got down to 70 and the highs were 88 to low 90’s. Now that It is September and the mornings are cooler and the evenings cool down quicker I will be using it nightly.

This morning the air temperature was 61 and slowly warmed up to 81 around 2 o’clock. Around 9 o’clock the water temperature was 83 degrees and reached 88 degrees when I checked around 2 or 3 this afternoon.

I don’t like cold water so I am very happy with this solar blanket. Hoping I am just as please with the temperature gets down in the 50’s at night.

I have had this model installed for about 6 months now and I have to say that I hate it and wish I had never installed it. My main complaint about it is how LOUD it is. Every time you use it there is a loud metallic clanking sound when it comes on and when it goes off.

It drives me crazy. The unit is installed in the laundry room and I can hear the clanking from my game room 20 feet away down a hallway. It’s terribly annoying. Also, while the unit is heating water there is a whirring sound.

This whirring/vibration can also be heard in other rooms – especially the room with which it shares a common wall (it’s VERY loud in that room). The whirring/vibration also travels up the studs that the unit is mounted on and into the room above – which just happens to be our bedroom.

So, between all of these sounds, you can ALWAYS tell when someone is using the hot water. This noise is bad enough, in my opinion, that I was willing to tear the whole thing out, eat the cost and put in a tank model.

My wife was not a fan of that idea – so we are keeping it. Additionally, there is a noticible delay in the water heating up at the tap vs our old tank heater. This was expected – based on reviews that I had read prior to purchasing – but is much more noticable than expected (i.

e. it takes longer than I thought – especially for long runs). I would suggest you try one of these tankless systems out a someone’s house before buying so that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

I would not recommend this product. We have it for 5 years and done numerous repairs on it. The heater keeps kicking off. we have made many appointments with Rheem (certified) pros and we have purchased so many replacement parts.

on top of that many calls to rheem technical center and each time there is a different proposed solution and spare parts. we have spent much money on it with no avail. the peculiar thing is that it does not give an error code.

Finished hooking up everything this weekend and the water heater fired up without issue. it took me a coupple days to finish everything i was doing i hooked up a water pressure booster pump for the house as well.

we have been using this now for about 3 days and it works great. its hard to say if there is any extra delay in getting hot water since i hooked up the pressure booster at the same time. i actually get hot water just as quick or quicker than i did before.

My pressure on the water lines went from 34 PSI up to 60 psi when water is in use and the static pressure is 75 psi. the only issue is i have to go and readjust my sprikler system heads as i’m watering the street and the nieghbors yards :).

Overall this was a great purchase, shipping was as expected, hooking up everything took some planning but overall i am very happy with this water heater. I did oversize the unit for the house but mainly due to living in the upper midwest and if i ever decide to sell the home it should meet their hot water demands as well.

my wife and i live in a 5 bedroom 3 bath home and this unit should meet the demands of multiple shower running and it will make it nice to fill the hot tub in the cooler months.

Pros: The blanket really works well for cold weather cooking. Pellet consumption was reduced by about 50% with more consistent temperature from the bottom to top shelf. The blanket will pay for itself.

Cons: It is a bit bulky and sometimes hard to keep the smoker door from wanting to close when loading the grill. Additionally, it can be challenging to reload pellets because the hopper top won’t stay up without holding it.

I’d recommend gluing a magnets to the side of the blanked so the hopper lid sticks to it when raised and the door stays open. Maybe Camp Chef can include them in the next revision. Other than that it fits well on my grill.

I bought this gas hot water heater for one end of my home that services multiple bed rooms, a bathroom, the kitchen, and laundry room. It handles all the needs with out any problems. It took me a little time to install because it was in the attic and I wanted to make sure I installed it correctly! It has been 3 weeks now and no problems.

It comes with great warranty! I do think if my other hot water heater goes out I’m going to give the tankless a shot because it is about 40 feet from attic door and it would hard to manage this beast that far away.

If there are any problems I will update, but so far so good. Service of Supply warehouse is amazing and cheapest I found. And trust me I did hours and hours of research before I pulled the trigger on this unit!.

SupplyHouse has some of the best prices on the interwebz when it comes to hot water heaters. They definitely came in significantly cheaper than local plumbing supply businesses in my area even with business account discounts.

The AO Smith natural gas hot water heater is built great, installed easy and works perfectly upon first initial use. The only thing I would say to watch out for is your timeline. My first unit came in damaged and so I refused acceptance.

SupplyHouse was able to send out a second one that came in undamaged. This did cause a delay in the project and since the shipping is a third party company, I can’t blame SH. Their customer service was great dealing with the replacement.

They made is very easy for me.

Have a large household and have two water heaters. First one went and grabbed one of these and it worked great. Then the second went and we got another for an additional $400 just six months later. Did all the work ourselves, but the prices are just getting ridiculous.

Great units that provide hot water for 9 people in our home. So much better than our 20 year old units we replaced, and a lot quieter blower. Hoping these last 20+ years as well.

Got this water heater thru Home Depot to replace a same model that started to leak after less than 4 years due to hard water deposits and minerals in my well water. Was under warranty. After some research, I now highly recommend changing out the anode rod to an aluminum rod maybe every 2 years if you have well water with hard water.

These rods are sometimes hard to remove. (Check you tube) With this new heater, before install, I took out the plastic grommet where the rod is, cut, picked and vacuumed out the styrofoam insulation and removed the rod with a 1 1/16 socket, came out easily.

I teflon taped and pro doped it so it will be easily removed in the future. Mine was 39″, so I know which length to get to replace. I stuffed some insulation into the cavity where the rod is. If you get an egg smell, the rod is likely shot.

I also found the two heat trap metal water connections at the top, tend to corrode in time with the hard water issue, so I plan on changing them every 3 years. Also drain water, 10 – 15 gallons, every few months to remove sediment.

If these steps aren’t done, with hard water, these heaters won’t last and will leak well within 6 years.

I purchased this water heater in the 50 gallon size at Homedepot. I installed it myself and it was an easy installation. However, after allowing several hours for the water to heat I still had WARM water.

Turned on the hot water only and it was barely warm to the touch. After checking all the electrical connections I gave it 24 hours to heat and still only warm water. I called the assistance line where a young lady walked me through the process of elimination and determined that the thermostat was faulty.

ON A NEW PRODUCT. She gave me the options, 1) they will mail you the replacement parts and you will get them in 3-5 days. 2) They will send a technician out in 3-5 days. 3) You can hire a licensed technician to replace it.

Pay for everything out of pocket and you can submit the bill for reimbursement. 4) You can purchase the parts, install them yourself and they will reimburse the cost of the parts if you submit the bill.

Is it to much much to expect a new $400. 00 water heater to work when it is installed?.

Water heater has been in use ten months. Had issues with hot water recovery supply in that, running out of hot water during shower. Contacted your Customer Service who advised trouble shooting procedures and sent one new heating element and later a new thermostat.

Recovery time improved somewhat after installation of items. Increased temperature setting to compensate for slow recovery. Water heater is forty gallons and my previous Whirlpool forty gallon water heater had satisfactory recovery at a much lower temperature setting.

I am disappointed with the Rheem performance. Note: I recommended and helped install three Rheem water heaters for three neighbors before I experienced the recovery issue. None have complained to me about performance.

I bought this water heater thinking that if I paid a few extra dollars for a smart one, I would save money on my electric bills long term. Wrong. The SmartHQ app that you have to use to control this heater is so lame that you cannot do something as simple as set a schedule to turn the heater off for a few hours in the middle of the night.

You can manually turn the heater on and off or adjust the temperature from your phone – and that’s it. My old dumb water heater had the same functionality, I just had to actually walk over to it. The horrible app is my biggest problem with this heater, but I should also point out that it arrived in an error state.

The first time I turned it on, it began beeping and showed “F6” on the display. I started pressing buttons and got it to quit beeping, but I was unable to set the temperature or connect it to my phone.

Luckily it was actually heating water to a default temperature, or else it would have been a much bigger problem. I ended up having to make several phone calls over the next week to GE customer service, with them telling me different things to try.

Finally some one told me to press a sequence of buttons three times real quick, and that cleared the error. Weird. My entire house is full of GE appliances and have had really good experiences with all of them – except this one.

Either save your money and get a non-smart version or try another brand with more capable controls.

It’s very good and clean, I don’t know about electrical usage because there was not enough time since the review request email was sent to me. So far I have indeed benefit of that extra water volume heat, it did improved my life as I have a large bathtub that the previous 50 gallons unit would not be enough, now it can get enough for a comfortable use of that bathtub.

The painel is super easy to use. Hopefully it won’t get bad overtime. The app is… bad. Has a lot of bad practices in that app. It requires login to the app, what means that in the future GE might shutdown their servers and the app won’t work further.

It’s very slow to open and will stay locked (you can’t do anything with any appliance in the app) until it finishes loading all the appliance list. The app crash in the iOS often or not update the latest state of the appliance.

It doesn’t work with Google Home or Apple HomeKit. The app is a gimmick, GE doesn’t take it seriously, but the physical painel for the smart version is helpful.

They keep asking me for my review so here it is – I completely regret this purchase. Our water heater that came with the house started leaking, so I thought “let’s see what Costco has to offer since I always get quality stuff from them”.

Well this isn’t one of them. Our bathroom faucet, right next to the water heater, would always get hot almost instantly with our basic water heater. Now it takes at least a full 60 seconds of running on full blast to get some warm water.

The kitchen has to stay on for a good 5 minutes or so before it even gets hot water. The app is pretty pointless. It just lets you set the temperature, capacity, and vacation / away mode. But right now after one rolling blackout in below freezing weather, the panel shows F17 error code (which the manual and their app give different reasons).

The app acts like everything is fine with the heater, but it won’t heat any water. I had to search the self-help feature on the app, and the description in the app is different than the user manual. If this were any other Costco product, I would’ve taken it back after a week, but since it’s such a pain to drain and install, we’ve just dealt with it.

But I wouldn’t recommend this water heater to anyone. Apparently everyone else in the neighborhood with their 15 year old, cheap basic water heater, all have hot water in this freezing cold. But not us with the one month old new heater.

Die Platine war falsch vom Hersteller angeschlossen. Leider ist die Widerrufsfrist abgelaufen. Das Gerät musste ersetzt werden. Schade.

The first one came in damaged; but we ordered it’s replacement and it came very quickly. Then another one of the water heaters failed and we ordered another one that came in fine. So overall the speedy delivery did help in the replacement.

Greetings, i purchased two blankets to prevent cold/hot air from entering the “house” section of a C Class 30’RV. Absolutely fantastic!! I gained 5-7 degrees fahrenheit improvement over standard blankets or insulated curtains.

With other insulation items I can now maintain a thirty degree difference between the exterior temperature and the indoor temperature. The blankets are not heavy, but the insulation value is second to none.

This is exactly what I needed. It covers my 5 cu ft chest freezer with ease. I usually fold one end under as to not block the compressor. I won’t use it down there in the basement during summer, but in the winter, the woodstove is cranking and the added installation should work nicely to keep things chill.

Shipping was quick, price is good and a good value.

We are a food bank in Iowa. With this horrible pandemic we’ve been forced to serve our clients outside. We purchased tents to serve under, and these wonderful insulated blanket that keeps our milk COLD as we distribute the food and milk.

The milk is in crates and stays in the back of a pickup, the 8X10 blanket tucks all the way down and around the milk, it is staying ice cold! We’re very happy with our purchase. Also purchased a smaller version and we use that for veggies.

I just replaced my older Rheem water heater with a new, upgraded Performance Plus model. Very easy install took only 30 minutes and I turned on the heater. The indicator lights were confusing and the manual was even more confusing.

After going online to the Rheem website, I learned the new, two element tanks were designed to switch automatically between upper and lower element. Everything was fine, although the manual indicated there could be a problem with one of the elements.

The thing I find quite troubling is that this issue with the operating manual was identified in reviews going back more than 5 years. It would seem that a company that supplies such good products would be anxious to correct that simple issue that has caused so many home owners such concern.

We just installed this unit in our home. The installation was easy. However, the manual should be updated to clarify the light sequences, just as many other people have suggested here in these reviews.

The manual says to call for service when the lower light does not activate. I’m sure your technicians could be spending their time more productively instead of answering calls about the lights. Time will tell if the water heater will be a long lasting purchase, but for now it is working perfectly.

I received a 50 gallon Performance Platinum water heater approximately 3 months ago. I received the unit as a warranty replacement for an an older version Rheem Water Heater that was still under warranty.

As soon as I set up the Performance Platinum Platinum Water Heater (3 months ago), it had issues turning the elements on, and shortly after turning it on an “A114” warning error code was displayed on the electronic panel.

I called the 1-800 Rheem Warranty number and the warranty representative said I needed to drain and uninstall the brand new water heater and take it back to the store. The store is a two hour drive away and Rheem does not have any service reps, where I live, to do the work.

The next day I uninstalled the water heater, drove to the store, obtained the warranty replacement water heater from the retailer, drove back home (4 hours round trip), and installed another Rheem Performance Platinum warranty replacement unit.

That replacement unit lasted almost 3 months until December 22, 2017 (just before our Christmas trip), the “A114” warning error code displayed again. I called the Rheem Warranty 1-800 number yet again and the warranty representative said I needed to return the water heater back to the store of purchase.

Again, I have received another replacement water heater (4 hours round trip). So in the last 3 months I have obtained 3 separate Performance Platinum water heaters under warranty replacement due to the “A114” warning error code.

According to the “Rheem Technical Service Bulletin” this is the manufacturer specification information for this error code: “A114 Safety Temperature Protection. A temperature sensor is attached to the control board as thermal protection.

If the controller determines operation outside of the specified temperature range (>185 degrees F), the unit follows a three strike methodology. Power cycling the unit will immediately clear the alarm.

Have water heater replaced immediately. Do not send out any control boards in an attempt to repair the unit. ” Obviously this is a serious safety hazard issue. Previous to obtaining my first Performance Platinum Water Heater 3 months ago.

I owned 2 older style Rheem water heaters. The first Rheem water heater I originally purchased was approximately 7+ years ago. I purchased the upgraded 10+ year warrantied water heater unit. That water heater only lasted about 2 years and leaks started to occur at the top of the unit.

I took it back to the retailer according to the Rheem warranty representative and obtained my first warranty replacement approximately 5 years ago. That one also started to leak from the top of the unit and that is when I obtained my second warranty replacement water heater which was the Performance Platinum that I obtained 3 months ago.

To date, I am currently on my 5th Rheem warranty replacement water heater, Two of them were the older style Rheem water heater and the last three were the Performance Platinum series.
