20 Best Water Ski Gloves (2022 Updated)

I purchased these primarily for cool and cold weather fishing on local rivers. They definitely keep my hands warm and the pre-bent fingers help relieve fatigue. One thing to remember is these gloves are not designed for extended immersion in water.

They have slits in the thumb and forefinger to allow for tying on lures or leaders. This makes them handy but the slits will allow water to enter the glove if you keep them immersed for extended periods of time.

There was an usually late striped bass (surf) run this past November. The is the third pair of Glacier Gloves that I have owned. The air temperature on some days was in the low 20’s and the gloves kept my hands warm even after plunging my hands into the surf water to retrieve or release a bass.

The finger slits are a plus for casting. However the Velcro finger tieback needs to be modified. Mnay times the Velcro did not hold the fingers in the open position. However this is a minor problem. I also like the length of the glove that covers the wrist area.

Another bonus is the extra grip the glove provides while handling slippery fish. I would recommend this brand of gloves for cold water fishing.

I bought these for Chesapeake bay striped bass, trout, and tautog fishing as well as snow. They are very well insulated, waterproof and t he y have fold up thumbs and pointer fingers to put bait on hooks( in my case gulp and soft plastics on jigheads) and I will use them for cold water kayaking too, as they have plenty of dexterity.

I got these yesterday and as soon as I got them I went outside to shovel the snow to try them out. My hands were nice and warm but it wasn’t very cold out, only -8 and there was no wind. These gloves are nice and seem very well made and durable.

I bought these for snowboarding but also because I wanted gloves with shorter cuffs because the ones I was using before have longer wider cuffs and I couldn’t get the sleeves of my daily jacket over the cuffs of the gloves unless I put my gloves on before putting on my jacket, which is really annoying if you ever need to take a glove off for whatever reason.

I had no problem getting the sleeves over the cuffs of these gloves but there is a problem with the cuffs being this short. Because they are this short the cuffs rub a lot on your wrists (a little above the wrists) and it is very irritating on your skin.

It gives you that rug burn feeling. I shoveled the snow about 12 hours ago and the skin around my wrist still feels very irritated. While these gloves are nice and warm and look good, had I bought them from a store which allowed returns I would probably return them because of how they irritate the skin around your wrists.

The only way I could seeing being able to use these without irritation is if you wear a long sleeve shirt or a thermal under your jacket and stuff the sleeve under the cuffs of the gloves to keep them from rubbing on your skin so much.

These mittens are good, albeit not very well suited to the PNW, where I snowboard. They’ve held up really well, considering the abuse I’ve put them through. They’re extraordinarily warm. Sometimes juuuust a bit to warm, sometimes causing my hands to get sweaty, which is also a result of them not being very breathable.

In wetter conditions you will get wet, after enough times falling and planting your hands in the snow. The removeable touchscreen-compatible liners are great, stopping your hands from getting too cold when you briefly remove the mittens to unzip your pockets or switch up your tunes.

You can also remove them and dry them out, as they absorb most of the sweat from your hands. Overall, I think they’re well suited to drier conditions, keep in mind these aren’t leather or Gore-Tex, so you will get wet eventually.

They are well made, they haven’t fallen apart yet, and I like the little touches like the soft backside of the thumb for wiping your nose, and the goggle wipe on the other thumb.

These check all the boxes for me from the description, but the performance lacked. The biggest flaw was that they are not waterproof. Being an east coast skier the weather changes often and I find myself in rain, these unfortunately did not withstand more then an hr before I found my hands getting damp even with the liners.

The second biggest flaw is the dexterity. The thumb feels tighter for some reason and is hard to even grip my poles. I sent back the first pair I got and sized up which helped a little but it was still stiff.

Other then those two gripes I love everything about them: Back pockets for warmers/pass, liners are awesome and touch screen capable (however the liners pile really quickly) Goggle Lens wiper, soft fabric for wiping nose, wrist straps etc are all great.

Received my O’Neill 1. 5mm gloves in a very timely matter from EVO. These 1. 5mm gloves give me another option to my O’Neill 3mm gloves, which don’t make me feel and look like I have hands of a salamander (just like the product picture).

I tested these first by washing dishes, which worked really well. Next, I rigged my kiting equipment with these on and that was not easy but was doable from inflating to attaching lines. One thing which most would think is counter-intuitive is that my 3mm gloves are easier to put on as compared to 1.

5mm gloves, which are the same size. I think it is because the 1. 5’s are lined inside and out whereas the 3’s are lined inside only. So, good suppleness for the use of hands, especially when compared to my 3mm’s and kept hands warm on 50F with 20 knot winds, but I think these gloves will provide protection to 45F.

The 3mm gloves may benefit from having a pre-curve built in to its shape.

Oh my goodness! These mittens are fabulous, and I don’t use those words which start with F very often. My hands were actually dry (huh?) for most of my session, and toasty during my entire session, which was about an hour and a half, in 43 degree Boston water in mid-April.

So nice! Up till now, I have worn 5-finger gloves for all of my cold-water surfing sessions, and suffered from cold hands. During a recent surf trip to Norway, I was introduced to mittens, and was so impressed I had to order some for myself.

My paddling got a booster with these from O’Neill, and my pop-ups were unaffected by the slight bulkiness, which was my earlier concern.

Gloves are great and keep your hands warmer than other gloves I have purchased. 4 stars because of they’re very hard to get over your palm area putting them on. But maybe it’s hard because of the design to keep water out.

Otherwise these gloves keep water out more than any others I have used and that’s very many! I need gloves cuz of my horrible arthritis. I last 20 minutes at the most without gloves and these keep me in the water for hours.

Great quality and a nice lighter-weight full glove. After going through tons of other light gloves that were just not high-quality enough and ripped/tore after moderate use, I finally went with these even though I had a feeling they’d be too much glove for most of my trips.

They’re actually surprisingly cool, even in black – I wore them on a 75ºF day with no issues other than the obnoxious tan line at mid-wrist. However, the seam design is terrible, with a thick seam right in the webbing of your thumb, causing more blisters than normal.

The silicone dots offer absolutely zero grip over just the raw materials, so it’s a waste, and in fact this is the most slippery paddle glove I’ve used. Overall they’re very close to an amazing glove, but for a big paddle-specific company to make such significant oversights is troubling.

I’m going to try to modify them so they’re more usable for long days.

Very glad I bought these gloves. I am an adult male with rather short fingers and an average to wide palm. I ordered the small size – they fit perfectly with even a little room left in the finger tips.

They are thin enough that I retain a sense of touch but thick enough to keep heat in on these cold spring waters. They grip the paddle perfectly – I don’t have to squeeze hard – and are an easy on/off.

Also like the little snap that holds the gloves together when not in use. Great product that I would certainly recommend.

Pleasantly surprised with these gloves! They are not waterproof, but they are close to it. In my testing water only leaked in through a specific seam between the fingers and at a specific angle. They make good paddling gloves, though I would not wear them when the air temperature is above 60 F, as it can get quite warm.

These are thin enough than I can put them in my tiny pfd pocket, so thats a plus from me. My skin is pretty sensitive and I have not yet had a rash while wearing these.

I bought these to keep my hands dry while ice fishing. I was out for a couple of hours in 18′ – 20′ temps and my hands stayed dry while handling fish and stayed warm. For how thin they are it surprised me that they kept my hands so warm.

I ordered size L which is snug for me but I was hoping it would give me better dexterity. Handling fish was fine but not rebaiting a hook. Taking them off and putting them back on can be a challenge if your hand has perspiration or gets damp before putting a glove back on.

One thing that was a little annoying is the velcro on the glove strap sticking to the velcro on my coat cuff strap but overall I am very happy with them.

I can’t tell you how many gloves I have gone through looking for something totally waterproof, somewhat warm and with enough dexterity to live with. These so far are the best program going. Excellent seam quality and build.

Gets cold here in northern AZ and feeding horses in wet conditions and handling damp hay is a nightmare with frozen wet hands! I wear a size 9 glove and the large in this glove is a bit too tight especially going on, so got xl and its better but note they are somewhat snug getting the cuff over your hands.

Also if you store them outside say in a hay barn they will feel damp inside when very cold even tho they are not. So would store in warm area if you care about that. Going to purchase several more for back up.

I have a long driveway on a steep hill so I have to salt a lot to keep things from becoming too interesting. These gloves fit great. Some say they run a bit small but I got a size L and I felt they were perfect with a little extra at the finger tips.

The neoprene is perfect for spreading salt. It protects my hands from the material. There is excellent dexterity. They are warm but not exceptional so maybe not a good choice for long term exposure. I see a lot of comments about not being waterproof.

I think what people are experiencing is the Neoprene material. Their hands are sweating and the Neoprene just does not breath. My mini experiment about this is that the gloves are still wet inside 1-2 days after I have used them.

I have to bring them inside and put them on my boot dryer for a few hours to dry out the inside. Another test would be to pour some water inside and see if they leak. Very happy with these gloves. Will get another pair.

I picked these up mostly for UV protection staying out on the water literally all day fishing up whatever I could find and they’re really comfortable and don’t get in the way AT ALL. They feel natural on your hands wile also giving you a little bit more grip.

Love my purchase, but they wont help you get more fish, just hold onto the rod harder reeling in that big one and protecting you from sunburn!.

I’ve been wearing these for a 7 days straight to try to break them in, and I’ve been following all the advice I’ve gotten from the company and the internet, but they are still far to stiff to do anything with.

Also, the seams around the base of my fingers are very tight despite my best efforts to loosen them, the seams inside the fingers poke out a great deal onto the inside, and bending my fingers at all, such as while driving, quickly becomes an intense forearm exercise.

Hands get cold even on above-freezing days in these, and it’s not a sizing issue, as the next size up was far too big. Very cheap, but I found them to not be worth the price. Perhaps I’m more of a mitten guy.

Just received Kinco 901 gloves. They appear to be well made. They are on the stiff side,but with some use, should break in at an acceptable rate. I don’t find that to be annoying or inconvenient. I guess it’s the man in me that appreciates the stiff toughness of something well made.

I usually wear a medium, but the medium in these gloves are too big especially long at the finger tips. The small is a little tight but overall, a better fit. I bought these gloves for a ski trip to Colorado, but I plan to use them as a cold weather work glove in the future.

Most ski gloves would not be that versatile or durable. I can’t vouch for the warmth of the gloves because they haven’t been exposed to frigid temps, but they feel warm and comfy indoors. I’m guessing they are as warm as most of the reviewers have stated.

Used this glove for a second time while skiing Breckenridge in late April and early May. Glove warmth is relative but since my hands get cold easy I would say its a good glove for late winter and spring skiing.

Used the Nikwax that it comes with and never really felt my hands get wet. Then again I never really touched the snow. For the money its a great value. I wouldnt spend $100 on Hestras. Great bang for the buck.

Very ruggedly made. Its a thick glove but over time Im sure itll get more supple. Overall I would recommend this glove for skiing.

Recently bought these gloves and tried them on. the firts thing I noticed is that the fingers are Not pre curved by any means. The seams are too big and too bulky to allow for any actual dexterity to do simple tasks.

My hand width forces me into a large, so when I’d bend my fingers forward, there would be space at the tips. Also, one I had the glove on and attempted to grasp my paddle, it felt like I was fighting the glove just to close my hand around the paddle shaft.

There is a noticable “spring back” effect when opening your hand. The only good thing I liked about them was the hydro cuff. In process of returning.

The quality is great, but that doesn’t matter when the fit is so off. The wrist is super tight. Great to keep the water out, I guess, but it feels like it it’s cutting off circulation and very uncomfortable.

The glove part is comfortable, but it fits large. Three stars for quality. One for fit. Sadly, have to return these. Useless to me because I can’t pull them on or off during Zodiac trips.

These a such a huge step backwards from my previous experiences with NRS gloves. 3 major issues: 1) The gloves are not pre-curled and are incredibly stiff, so when you grip oars or paddles, you’re fighting against a stiff, fairly straight piece of rubber.

2) They seem to be thinner than previous generations and don’t seem to be as warm. 3) The grippy material on the inside of the hands is wider at the edge than the rest of the glove, which ruins any dexterity you might have had.

I bought these gloves two weeks ago in preparation for a SD late season pheasant hunt. I made the purchase after putting them on in the store and I could just feel the heat reflection immediately. I had mild frostbite on my hands as a kid.

Stuck on ski lift for 3 hours, thus, my fingertips get cold fast and sting. Over three days, I wore these gloves in -11, -1, and 25 degree weather while carrying a shotgun. It was an interesting experience to have such extreme differences in temp.

At -11 I wore them with hand warmers and experienced stinging in only one finger. After stopping to warm that one finger with the hand warmer for less then a minute, fingers stayed warm and confortable.

On day 2 at -1, I chose not to wear hand warmers in the glove but put two in my coverall front pockets. Again the first field all my fingers were stinging and cold. I stopped, put my glove covered hands in my pockets for about two minutes.

My fingers stayed warm and comfortable the rest of the day. Day 3 at 25 degrees the gloves worked without any need for hand warmers. Fingers never stung and I was comfortable all day. All of this to say, I was super impressed with these gloves.

I have never had gloves work this well for me. At 51 years of age I have had a lot of miserable and frustrating hunts because of cold stinging fingers. Those days are over. Also, the other review mentioned inside liner not being secure when you take gloves off.

Absolutely the case, frustrating but I can’t mark them down because my hands felt so warm while hunting.

Ski gloves fit comfortably and performed well. Hand warmer pocket is a must and helped a lot. Fingers got a little cold and would size up if you want to add a liner.

Extremely warm gloves! Come with a detached thin liner to wear with the outer glove. The outer glove does not work with your phone, but the inner lining does.

I Really enjoyed these gloves! I bought 2 pairs as they do fit a bit snug. Usually I am head to toe medium in everything type of person. But I ended up ordering a second pair in Large in order to Fit a liner inside.

The Medium are good for warmer ski days. The only thing I wish was Dakine made these in Mittens to keep the fingers warmer. I am an Athletic Therapist + Canadian Ski Patroler and these function well to help prevent wrist sprains / fractures.

They have a Velcro strap that goes all around in order to snug them up. The wrist guard is on the front / back of the hand and sandwiches it. There is a string as well that helps to hold them so you don’t drop them while you take a photo or something! 100% would recommend and buy again.

I bought these gloves too late in the season to give them a try. BUT I did fill a 5 gallon bucket with ice and water. Enough ice that it was all around the glove. I kept waiting for it to get so cold that I’d have to pull my hands out but it was the boredom of sitting there, that I did.

You could definitely feel the cold thru the glove but it never became uncomfortable. The lake that I live on only sees water temps in the mid to high 50’s and air temps in the 30’s early morning during winter.

So after doing my unscientific test I’m sure they’ll exceed my expectations next winter.

Not worth the money. The inner glove looks so cheap and is has those little balls all over it from wearing them less than 2 weeks and the outer waterproof glove fingers were too short despite the inner pair fitting well.

The I bought a small which is always my size. But as I mentioned the fit is very strange. Also, the material is suppose to work with phones, but I had to constantly take my gloves off while skiing because they weren’t working.

So that was also frustrating. The look is nice, and the slits for heat packs is great. But with the fingers being short it feels weird and does not allow for a good grip when skiing or sledding etc. Overall, these gloves are not worth the money.

But if you have very short fingers and others normal hands these could be for you, just remember the inner glove are cheaply made and finger length is normal.

I am new to Columbia Sportswear and the Omni-heat Technology, and I am pleasantly surprised with how effective these gloves work! I went on a ski/snowboarding trip recently in below freezing temps. My hands were perfectly comfortable the entire time.

It comes with a liner, which in itself, managed to seem warm enough when I needed to take my gloves off to help the kids or grab videos/photos with my phone. With the gloves on, my hands were comfortable for hours without the need of adding hand warmers etc.

They were comfortable. They did not feel too tight but just right. They have the wrist loops to keep the gloves in place dangling from your wrists when you take them off, they do have the waterproof zipper vent as well.

Great glove, I was super impressed.

I own more Columbia gear than any other brand and have always been impressed with their durability & performance (especially at the corresponding price point). It’s rare that I am disappointed with their gear, but sadly this is one of those instances.

The technical features of these gloves are outstanding – – cuff adjustability, pull tabs, removable/elastic leashes, webbing adjustments, soft/absorbant wipe, etc. However, the digit insulation is not very good, so finger tips get cold quickly, even with the liners on and in moderately cold temps (20 – 30 degF).

Fix this shortcoming and you’ve got an excellent glove for winter activities. Fix it while keeping MSRP reasonable and you have the best value on the market. FWIW, I was not aware of the Wild Card version of these gloves when I made this purchase and am curious if they solve this problem.

but I won’t risk trying them since I’m already stuck with one pair of gloves that I have no real use for.

The gloves run a bit small but not drastically. Medium gloves often have some room on my hands but these mediums were so snug I almost returned them to upsize. Since I wore them, I’ll keep them but they saw their one and only kayak trip today.

My son and I both wore a pair today and 4 miles in, we had to take them off. The gloves hold water and don’t dry readily (it was sunny and mid 90s today), the uncovered portions of our fingers were soggy and sore.

While they might prevent blisters on the covered part of the hand, there is enough stiffness at the end of the fingers (palm side) to irritate the fingers. We were flat water paddling, not getting splashed in rapids, and the gloves seemed to attract every drop of water possible, making for an uncomfortable paddle.

My hands felt better the last half, without any gloves on at all. Very disappointed in this purchase and cannot recommend them.

Comfortable, relatively lightweight gloves for paddling. Overall I am happy with them although they’re not the easiest to remove, especially once they’re wet. The two middle fingers on each glove do have a slightly extended tab on the fabric to aid removal but they’re not that effective.

Still, a decent glove that helps prevent blisters, especially around the base of the thumb which can be a common issue, especially amongst beginner paddlers.

I was disappointed when I tried the gloves on and they were so tight I had to remove them immediately. I measured my hands per the size chart, and selected the next size up, XL. Way too tight, especially the fingers.

I don’t believe the XXL fingers will be significantly bigger, so back they go. My hands are not that big, I have always been OK with Large when the sizes are S/M/L.

I have used these gloves for the last 12 years and the pair I’m taking out of service had been worn by me to catch over 6000 Crappie in that time. They are still good, but I also bought a purple pair back then that have rode around in the bow of my bass boat.

The purple pair are now first up, the pair I just bought, the Sage ones are my spares, and lastly I just can not give up on the original pair so they are in my Tin Boat as a backup pair. They still have years of service left.

Just a note, I soak my gloves in Woolite to clean, and it seems to remove all the fish slime & smell without fading or damaging the fabric.

My son and I used these gloves for two weeks at the beach. Fished on the pier, fished on a charter, and fished on two Head Boat trips. We caught lots of fish. These gloves took it all and we washed them in the washing machine every day; hung them up to dry.

They dried quick and did not shrink. Protected our hands from sunburn and aided in handling the fish. Would highly recommend.

Used about 10 times sailing a Hobie Tandem Island. The fingers and palm doesn’t have enough padding and grip for tailing the mainsheet. My fingers were always sore after use. Thankfully I lost one, and went with the West Marine 3/4 finger sailing gloves, which although bulkier, were very comfortable, had much higher grip and left my hands in much better condition after use.

This is the reason I hate buying stuff online. You can’t gauge how something will fit until you try it on. My hands are small. The fingers of these gloves are about a quarter inch longer than my fingers.

It’s one thing to buy a sweater sized S/M, and another where sizing is crucial, like gloves or shoes. So what are they thinking when manufacturing a glove that will somehow fit both sizes? It doesn’t work.

And although they have a return shipping label, it’s a hassle to return a package during a pandemic when your priority is trying to get to the grocery store to buy food. So you end up buying something produced based on a convenient miscalculation.

Small should be Small. Medium should Medium. Large should be Large. You don’t cut corners to produce something that is cost effective for the manufacturer. But it was my mistake to purchase them. And I regret my decision.

The Isotoner Kohl’s Women’s SmartDri Knit Gloves are perfect! They are soft and stylish on the outside while the inside is super plush and warm. The black color is nice and dark and will go with any type of coat or outfit.

They also come in a soft gray heather color that is just as beautiful. The outside is made with SmartDri technology that repels rain and snow, keeping your fingers and hands nice and dry. They are also touchscreen compatible and feature palm patches that provide extra grip.

My hands are always cold and these gloves keep them WARM! I was nervous about the sizing, as they are only offered in One Size Fits Most. My hands are really small, so most gloves tend to be much too long in the fingers or loose around the wrist.

These gloves fit my hand perfectly! They are just the right length for my fingers, and there is a cuff around the wrist that stays put. I also know that they are very stretchy because my husband, who has large hands, also tried them on (I made him!) and they stretched to fit his hands perfectly, without being too snug.

I loved them so much that I purchased additional pairs as gifts for the women in my family.

The inside of these gloves feel like a soft blanket for your fingers! The wrist part is slightly gathered so no cold air can sneak through. The touchscreen functions takes a little adjusting with the material but one positioned on your pointer finger and thumb it works well.

When you pull your hand out the furry soft liner stays put. With other gloves that I have had the liner would come out when I removed the glove which was very inconvenient. They also come with a band of leather where the ends of the fingers are joined with the hand so they can grip a steering wheel well.

They certainly protect your hands from the cold and moisture too. I accidentally spilled coffee on them and I did not feel the heat. This accident made me have to wash these and they washed up very well.

The liner stayed put and they retained their shape.

Been out Winter kayak fishing twice so far. So comfy i forget i’m wearing them, and hands stay warm (Bay of Plenty). Definitely a good purchase, hopefully they handle punishment over time!

Haven’t used them out on the dinghy yet but they feel comfortable when worn and look well made. They should be ideal for keeping my hands warm but allowing the unrestricted use of thumb and two fingers on each hand.

Fantastic quality gloves, love the fact that you can still tie a fishing knot or use your phone whilst wearing them.

Disclaimer: I have yet to use these on the slopes. This is a first impression review, ahead of the season. I always wanted a pair of this style of gloves for snowboarding since the mitten helps group the heat of my fingers but the lone index finger allows for the needed mobility to strap in my bindings.

These seem to do just that! Additionally, the interior material is wool, which is a nice step up from the fleece lined gloves I’ve had in the past. The leather Gortex exterior is really flexible, unlike leather gloves I’ve had in the past.

My biggest concern is the leather getting soaked and getting cold as I’ve experienced that with a cheaper pair of gloves in the past. Will update the review if this is the case.

These gloves were great for my hike up Kilimanjaro, primarily on Summit night when temperatures were around -5 F with the wind chill. Once the sun came out, I only needed the inner liners, which were also amazingly comfortable and warm in the 10 degree F weather.

The only downside, and the reason I gave it only 2 stars instead of 5 is because the inner gloves snap onto the outer layer, and the inner layer ripped when trying to unsnap it THE FIRST TIME. That was pretty discouraging as I eventually lost them on the hike up.

Other than that, these are some top of the line gloves for almost any weather condition.

These mittens seem to check all the right boxes for deep winter snowboard adventures, however the thumbs are too tight! I tried 3 different pairs and each one had the same problem, particularly the right thumb for some reason.

Unfortunately the thumb was restricting circulation and it’s just too small. Check other reviews that say the same thing. Really wanted to make these work but I’m not willing to suffer freezing digits for a flawed design.

Would not recommend.

Warm–much more than expected for 3 mm gloves! Easy on and off. I’ve been using these in 50-55 degree water, expecting this to be the lower limit, but so far no cold creeping in. Hoping to take this into even colder surf, given the flexibility of a 3 mm vs a 5mm glove.

Patagonia produces some of the best wet suits and cold water gear, hands-down!.

These gloves appeared to be well built, and in a eco/socially responsible manner as Patagonia is known for. Unfortunately, I found the finger length to be very short for the glove size, as result there were effectively “webs” between my fingers.

I had to return them. Perhaps they would fit better on stubby hands (I have longer/thinner hands, but not unusually so).

There are so many good things about these gloves: the lining is great, the warmth is good, they are reasonably flexible for five finger gloves, and the fit is awesome. The wrist is just the right tightness.

It looks like Patagonia put a lot of work into these and the design is great, which is why I don’t understand why the inside seams are so uncomfortable. The glue feels not just irritating but borderline sharp.

I fish sea trout in the south of Sweden. During the winter the ocean is between 0-8 degrees and the air temp i -5 to 5 degrees. I have these gloves. I also have Simms fold over mit in three generetaion, the wool floves, the regular gloves in two generations.

Yes, gloves are important to me. These neoprene gloves are bad because of: 1. The fit is to snug. When the bode get cold the first thing that happens is that blood disappears from your feet and hands.

Having gloves that are to snug only worsen the blood circulation. 2. They don’t breath, that means that moisture builds up in the glove and moisture is enemy number one (wind is also a good enemy. ) when trying to keep warm.

3. They don’t go enough up on the wrists. 4. When striping your flyline, the neoprene breaks down. I prefer the wind stopper models or the wool ones. The heat pockets on the new ones are great. I would like to see some wool gloves with wind stopper, heat pocket and going further up on the wrists.

I’ve fished the Great Lakes tributaries for 12 years and have tried to keep my hands warm while fishing my centerpin setup. I thought I’d try these gloves as a means to keep my hands warm while landing fish.

They don’t cut it if the temps are below 38 degrees. Unfortunately there are not many great days of fishing for steelhead in less than 38 degrees. I’ve had better success recently with wool gloves or the Simms fleece fold over mitts.

I would have rather spent my $60 on wool fingerless gloves and hand warmers. I’ll also note that I own tons of Simms stuff, from G3 waders and boots to gloves to jackets and love them all. I’m just not satisfied with these.

I think they’re too tight and they restrict the blood flow to your fingers in the cold.

Great gloves for cold, wet days steelheading! Gloves are warm and waterproof as advertised and do a great job at making sure I keep my dexterity on those typical winter mornings in the PNW. Only thing that keeps them at 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are a bit thicker than would be ideal for fine touch in managing/stripping line.

I have had NRS gloves before– use them for both kayaking and bike commuting– and have really liked how warm they’ve kept me while still allowing me good motor control with my fingers. I have worn holes in my old ones, and was excited to try this version, especially because of the fleecy inside– I hoped that would make the insides of the gloves less clammy with the inevitable sweating that happens.

So I was disappointed when these arrived and I found that the seams were quite rough on the insides– and in some places quite sharp against the skin– ouch! And these are less pre-curled than the ones I had before, so when I put these on and curled my fingers, there was extra bulk at the fingertips (taking away the good motor control with fingers) and some folding of the material at the palm.

So this newer model was much less comfortable and functional than the ones I’d had before. Back they went to NRS. To NRS’s credit, they gave me a supported, no-hassle return process, including paying for me to ship them back.

Still on the search for a good glove that will meet my needs.

Good protection on my Glacier Bay kayak trip. Hands fairly warm and dry, no blisters, no wear spots (but only 7 days use). Shaped to grip or push a paddle, a single activity design. A challenge to pull on while sitting in cockpit, just before grasping the paddle.

I’m satisfied.

I wore these on a raft trip down the Grand Canyon in March. The water temp was 47 degrees so I had these gloves on a lot. My hands didn’t stay “warm” but they stayed functional and mostly comfortable.

They are tough to get on because of the tight wrist gasket, but that’s part of what makes them affective.
