20 Best Waterproof Barn Boots (2022 Updated)

My son really likes these boots. They are great for the winter. They do run big. The size 10 is more like an 11 but it gives him room to grow.

These are a lovely boot and appear well made. My issue is that my foot is swimming in them. I ordered my normal size and I feel like I need to buy a special insole to try and take up the space in the boot around my foot.

Even wearing a heavy sock my foot moves around in them. I wonder if a size smaller would help but it’s not length that is the issue. There is so much volume above and around my foot.

These boots are wonderful for chores around the barn! They are very comfortable and durable. They are a little on the wide side, but that accommodates heavier socks on colder days. I am at almost 8,000 feet and I wear these boots with one pair of wool socks even in temperatures below zero.

Another great feature is the fine tread on the bottom of the boot. It prevents slipping even in very slick conditions, but doesn’t allow mud to chunk up on the sole, consequently, I have less mud to clean off when I come inside from the barn.

I usually wear an 81/2 or 9 and I am very comfortable in the size 9 I ordered. I highly recommend this product. Comfort: 5 Durability: 5.

I bought these boots, but I will not be able to wear them. They run extremely large. I wear a 9 but these fit more like a 10. 5 or 11. Very disappointed, will have to give them to someone as the cost to return is too much.

I would not recommend buying these boots.

This is my 4th pair of these boots. As a full-time professional trainer, I wear them all day, every day, all year long, in all kinds of weather. I usually make it about 18-24 months before they need to be replaced, which is pretty good.

I haven’t found anything else that hods up any better, and these boots are by far the most comfortable option. They might last longer, if I took better care of them, but I hardly ever remember to oil them.

They are truly waterproof, which is great in the winter, when it’s muddy, and in the summer, when I am rinsing horses after every ride. Last time I needed a new pair, during the pandemic, I couldn’t find them online (I live in a rural area, no stores), and I bought another Ariat boot, which was far less comfortable for my wide feet.

I was very happy to find that these Barnyard boots were available again this year. Every other pair has been tough to break in, because the ankle was so tight, I’d get blisters on my shin and calf for a few weeks til they stretched out.

If you read the reviews, everyone else said the same thing. Well, this pair is different! Ariat heard us, and made the boot with a wider opening, and they are comfortable enough to wear for 10 hours on day 1! No break in period! All the great support! Please, never stop making this boot.

Nothing compares for comfort and durability.

These are very comfy for a full days work at the barn. They’re great to just throw some half chaps on for schooling. I wear 8. 5 slim in the contour field riding boot. A 9 in Keswick boot and an 8. 5 in the Barnyard.

Keep these clean and conditioned and they will last a long time. Abuse them and you get 2 years…maybe. I wear mine 4-5 times a week switching back and forth between the two. I like that the Barnyard is shorter than the Keswick.

Neither one of these rubs my shin like some reviewers have commented. The footbed is very comfy. I do think the footbed in the Keswick is more comfortable though. It has excellent arch support. But I have both and interchange them and am a happy rider.

I have worn a pair of the older dark brown style for over 7 years. They held up despite minimal care for riding and barn chores. Super comfortable. Waterproof in wet fields and the wash stall. I ordered the new style (my old pair is well past needing to be retired!) but they seem to be fashion boots now, don’t work with half chaps.

Bring back the old style! I am going to have to look at another company to try and replicate my beloved paddock boots unless there is ebay or a consignment shop miracle.

I am a big fan of this boot for their looks and comfort. I also ride in them, and appreciate their durability. This is my second pair and with my first, I think it’s important to note that I never had problems with the zippers, per other reviews.

I also actually prefer the side zips because they don’t pressure the top of my foot as much as other paddock boots have done. I ride in these with half chaps and that’s where they get tricky, due to their size.

The half chap straps stretched to fit over the boot and the Velcro doesn’t pull all of the way over at the bottom, but I prefer this chunky style of boots in the stirrup. I have been riding steadily in first pair for 5 years but have owned for ten.

Slightly used first two years and put back to use after a 3-year hiatus. I’ll be happily sporting this newest pair soon enough and keep the old ones in my car for any impromptu riding opportunities that occasionally occur.

Highly recommend. Oh, and a little clean up and they look great for a night out too, depending on your outfit. :).

Ive bought 2 pairs so far. The first pair lasted for about 4. 5 years before the zipper broke wearing them almost everyday on farm. with heavy use. fencing. barn refurb. painting etc. The 2nd pair the zipper broke in about 2 months of lighter use lostly feeding and riding our horses.

I was so disappointed but ill see if they can be repaired as some on here have done. Cause these have really no break in time needed. i can do hard work in them all day and my feet are still dry and comfortable.

Ive been stepped on about 4 times with my big 1500 lb drafts and no damage to my feet. i couldnt believe it. love that I can muck and ride in these too. I have also tried my spurs with them. spurs do slide a bit but my horse doesnt need much so wasnt a big deal.

I get compliments on these from other horse folks all the time. love them. just disappointed in 2nd pair zipper. I took everyones advice on down sizing by half point and i have plenty of room for thin or thick socks.

So easy to put on and take off too especially when you are tired and your back is aching.

I needed a waterproof boot that would stand up to hard work and –key– easy to take on and off. I couldn’t be happier. The side zip works well and means I don’t have to work hard to take them on and off.

I can walk around with them unzipped if I’m feeling particularly lazy. I’ve used these boots for everything from mucking out horse stalls to field veterinary work, where they are covered in blood and mud.

I wipe them off and keep going, and my feet stay dry. All of Ariat’s products are good, but the thing that differentiated these boots for me was the side zip–so incredibly easy in addition to rugged and tough.

My son loves these boots. They are wonderful quality, and will be perfect for keeping up with dad this coming deer season.

There not what I expected. Poorly made and run larger than the size I asked for. Bought them for my husband and he wanted me to return them. It’s not worth the effort.

Fantastic quality. These boots will hold up to any rough-and-tough 5 year old! I don’t mind paying a little “extra” for a good quality boot that I know will last and still be in fantastic condition to pass on to my younger son.

These boots keep my son’s feet warm and dry and he loves the camo print. I can easily rinse them off when he gets them muddy, not having to worry about the inside getting saturated. The upper part conveniently folds down to make putting on and taking off easy.

They can even be worn folded down, which is sometimes more comfortable, depending on what my son is doing. GREAT BOOT! Now my entire family has Muck boots!!.

My kid is apparently spoiled rotten because he absolutely refuses to wear any other boots since he was introduced to Muck Boots last year. He grew out of his but still refused to wear anything else so I let him pick out a new pair.

He chose these and absolutely loves them!!.

I’d seen these boots at a local store and couldn’t bring myself to pay full price for them. My son is a growing teenage boy so buying these on Zulily was considered a steal. Great boot. Very sturdy and comfortable.

I am a huge fan of Muck boots; however, the Derby boots were a big disappointment. Upon discovering they failed to meet the temperature protection (couldn’t even withstand 32 degrees), I was going to return them.

Then, I saw on the return policy that the boots had to be in new shape with the tags on! Considering I had already worn them to the barn. How was I supposed to trial the boots in their natural “element” in order to determine they are not what they were advertised to be.

The foot is also made too slim prohibiting heavy warm socks to combat cold feet. The sole does not provide adequate support on the stirrup bar making it a poor choice for an alternate, pleasure riding boot (not expecting it to be worn in the show ring, just wanted them to hack around on cold days).

Last, the length of the calf is too short and kept getting caught in the saddle flap. Needless to say, I will not recommend these boots. I just also purchased a new pair of chore boots (my 3rd pair) and absolutely love them.

I was hoping this would be a great winter weather boot to ride in. Not the case. Please consider a refund and fix these issues. I’m confident your company can do better with this style of boot.

Love these boots, they are perfect for the whole day out at the barn. My old muck boots wore out after 10 years of constant use and when I saw this new style I thought I’d try them out. I love that they have all the benefits of the “classic” style muck boot (waterproof, warm, good tread) but with a smaller toe to fit in english stirrup irons better and a taller inner calf to prevent pinching from the stirrup leathers.

Perfect boots to catch your horse in the muddy or snowy pasture and then not need to change before hopping on. I have a wide foot and wide calf so the boots were a bit snug at first but broke in quickly and painlessly.

I am extremely happy with these boots!.

I waited a long time for these to get back in stock. Soo worth the wait! I love these boots! I wear them for all sorts of work around the farm and I ride in them. Super comfortable. And if I’m in the creek on the horse and have to move branches, they are waterproof! I haven’t used them in the winter yet, so I’m interested in how warm my feet stay.

I received these as a gift for when I want to do some casual fly fishing in the creek by our house. I wore them on day one and was in the water for only a short time before hiking upstream to try a few different spots from the bank.

On day two I wore them in the creek again, which was about 8 inches deep. Before long I noticed my left sock was soggy. A short while later my right sock was soggy. When I got home I confirmed both boots where wet inside.

When I held the boot up and pointed the toe at the ground, water started coming out of the seam where the rubber half-circle on the heal meets the sole of the boot. This leak was present on both boots, and on both sides of each boot.

Muck boots have a great reputation so this is probably an isolated issue, but it is still an issue. I hope this review helps them identify what went wrong during manufacturing so they can fix it and save future customers from the hassle of wet feet and extra trips to the store.

These work amazing (when they work) and are comfortable in muddy, water filled conditions. Not cold either. Issue is that you have to make sure they are 100% waterproof. I HIGHLY recommend trying them on then test them in water up pass the seams with the soles.

Just cover up your entire foot then rotate, flex and bend as you would in uneven ground. If you feel any micro leaks then they’re probably going to be bad. I used my first pair live in a stream and I had occasional leaks (just a drop or two, so very small leaks) when moving through mud.

It happened more often on my left boot than my right. Mind, my socks never got soaked but you can’t mistaken the kiss of water on your socks so I got through the day just fine. If you don’t test/use it in similar conditions (lots of water) you probably won’t ever notice this.

Since these are advertised as 100% waterproof then they better be and it’s price. My first use was 99. 99% waterproof at best. At the very least, these micro leaks hints at where the boots will fail at and which one will fail first.

Hopefully this is a fluke since the boots are great otherwise. I got a replacement incoming so hopes it goes well. Edit: Replacement pair went through a bucket test with me flexing my feet without any lick of water.

The first pair was like within 5-10 minutes of me feeling it without the amount of flexing I did with the test pair to get any hints of water. I’m going to keep the review as a three star due to the need to even test my purchase.

I’ll update if this fails too.

I like my new Muck boots. The functionality I get from them and in which I’m interested probably cost like 1/8 as much when my parents bought my boots – but I couldn’t find the boot of my childhood, so I settled for paying extra.

They’re comfy, though: I like them. I took them on a hike, the other day – they did what they were supposed to do: kept my feet dry and therefore warm. I got the steel-toe version just for fun – they’re surprisingly comfortable.

They’re just for keeping me dry, so, despite the tread, they didn’t stop me from sliding on ice. But I used their edges to go down steep hills without much effort. I have to see if my spikes fit them (they should).

I think they smell like burning tires, though – I assume that will improve with use. Also, my feet may sweat more than these were designed for – we’ll see. Good socks should deal with that, regardless.

I’m not sure it’ll be easy to clean the insides. The rims were a little harsh on my calves (I prefer to wear my pants over my boots), so I’ll have to wear taller socks – in fact, the little piece sticking out rubbed against my skin so much that the skin actually came off: it seemed like the design, not a manufacturing defect.

I may be able to fold the tops down (may require bell-bottoms). Overall: seems like a good buy, so far.

Sturdy, waterproof, and super comfortable for hours and hours of barn work in them. We are prone to flooding, and I wear them almost daily. They’ve only leaked once and needed replaced, and that was after a year of hard use.

I have bought these 6 times. Three for me and three for my kids, so far. I keep a spare for me because they’re sometimes hard to find in my size. Will definitely buy again!.

Our son loves these boots! He can wear them shoveling snow, at school or when he’s out & about. They will be especially useful for our hobby farm in the spring through fall. Thanks for another great product.

Boots look great! We did have to stretch them by putting soup cans down inside so my son’s foot would slide in easier. After a night of stretching his foot fit better and he loves his new boots. Ready to check cows and play in the snow this winter!.

I got these in 2020, on clearance for $59. 99 (Canadian). So far so good. The sole & lower boot is more of a plastic than rubber (say compared Boggs, which are more like real rubber). So they look somewhat cheap.

But so far they’ve held up. No cracks or leaks. I’m not overly hard on them. I don’t wear them every day or even multiple times a week. Just in spring & early fall when I’m hunting turkey, etc. A lot of farmers fields.

Someone told me he had them and they cracked within a year. For me they’ve been fine. My dress shoe size is usually 9. 5, running shoe size usually 10. 5, Converse All Stars 9. 5. I have a somewhat narrow heal and I’m wide across the toes.

I got size 10 and they fit well. I usually wear a single, thicker work sock in them.

They went above and beyond my expectations for service. I would give them 5 stars and I would say that they are comparable to LL Bean from Maine. I hope the Customer Service Depart and the employees that work there a Great Weekend.

Bought these Dec 2018 but didn’t use until August 2019 and the left boot leaked a small amount so I thought my foot was just sweating so I continued to use with the same result every time. In September I contacted Cabelas to make a warranty claim and I sent the boots back in exchange for a second pair, low and behold the right boot leaked the first time I went shore fishing.

I contacted Cabelas immediately and was told to hold on to the boots and a third pair was sent to me. Upon delivery I soaked each boot in a bucket of water for 30 minutes and yes left boot leaked so much that water poured out! Now out two pairs in my possession I had a good left and right boot that passed my leak test and I returned the bad left and right pair.

These are advertised as 100% water proof but it took 3 pair to find 2 good boots that didn’t leak! Customer service was great through this whole process, I finally have pair that don’t leak and are warm.

I believe Muck boot Co has an issue with quality control so I wouldn’t purchase again.

My husband asked me to order these boots for our 5-yr-old son because he needed new boots, and my husband has heard great things about this brand. We couldn’t even get the boots on him, even though we ordered two sizes bigger than the boots that currently fit him.

Now I need to look up the return policy and run an extra errand to return them. More work than work it, unfortunately.

Durable and trustworthy for the young feet to stay dry during rain and creek outings. I’ll buy again when they wear them out. They hild there form, and I have handed down a moderately used boot to a younger youth.

They need to figure out a better exchange program. This is happened twice to us where we are born boots from Muck When they were on sale got the wrong size boot went to exchange them for a different size and they will not do it therefore twice they have not gotten her money and we had to go somewhere else for boots.

I wish they could figure this out because we Purchased about eight pairs of boots from them all them of been good boots But their exchange process sucks After this last one I think will be going somewhere else from now on.

I purchased these as a gift for my husband. He tried them on at the store. He wore them out hunting the first two days. His exact words were ” These are the most expensive worst boots I have ever owned.

” The sole was not strong causing his feet to hurt. The boots rubbed on the back of his shins causing sores not on one but both legs. I have read hundreds of reviews on these boots and did my research, disappointed is an understatement.

These boots are overrated. I contacted Muck boot by email. Their response was bring it back to Tractor Supply and return them under the warranty, and they would let them know they were coming back. They did not.

Spoke with Manager at my store and she advised me to bring them in and she would return them no questions asked. Spend your money wisely, and my opinion is this is not wise.

I enjoy lengthy walks in nature and whilst my walking boots were adequate for the summer months, I needed some totally waterproof boots for ventures into extremely muddy places during the wet winter season! I had some basic, inexpensive wellies and after a short walk in these, I ended up with sore ankles as they rubbed and were a poor fit.

After much research, I settled on trying some Muck Boots for an upgrade. Happy to say, these wellies are excellent and very comfortable for extended periods of wear having walking on varied terrain, and they are 100% waterproof.

The neoprene upper makes them feel lighter and not at all clumsy like traditional wellies do. The insoles are cushioned and soft, featuring a special coating to prevent odours.

The wetland muck boots are pricey but because they last so long they’re affordable. On my second pair of this same boot over 13 years. They support the feet well so walking a lot in them is easy on your feet.

They are true to size for fit. I live in the midsouth and wear them all year for garden and yard work. I even turkey hunt in them walking a great deal and they make their own camo when they get muddy.

I will be looking into a low top style muck boot for summer for a cooler alternative and going into town. The upper neoprene calf part can be rolled down as well to make them a sort of mid size boot that I just learned.

100% waterproof.

These boots are just as comfortable out of the box as my old ones that have had hundreds of hours to stretch and conform to my feet. Length-wise, they fit true to size. Width-wise, I have wide feet and toes, and I can feel the Kerrits constricting my pinky toes, but not so much that I won’t be able to ride in them.

They were a tight squeeze to get on over my high insteps but are okay in that dimension once on. Also grateful for a style that looks to be truly waterproof. There’s no way I’ll be able to wear thick socks with these – as is, a thin pair will be pushing it until they stretch – but hoping the waterproofness and squishy lining will help keep the cold out a bit next winter.

A wide width with laces instead of a zipper would make these boots truly awesome. My one concern is that it looks like the sole is already starting to peel away from the boot in a a couple of places, or perhaps they just weren’t thoroughly glued on.

Probably not worth returning for and hopefully some Shoe Goo will fix it if it gets worse, but still mildly disappointing given the price.

I loved these boots. They fit well, they were comfortable and breathable. I could wear them all day across the varied terrain of our multispecies farm. But then one day, there was a tight spot over my toes.

It got worse and after trying different things, I realized the lining of the top of the boot had shifted over time and buckled and there was no moving it back. So sad because the boot itself still looks great, and had plenty of wear-time left.

Decided to try again, but my size in any color hasn’t been available for quite some time. Sad, sad, sad 😔.

I ordered these boots last month and the first pair was too big (I am a US 6. 5 and euro 38 were a bit big for me) so I sent them back to exchange them for 37s. The customer service was on top of it and their communication was excellent during the time I returned them until the new pair arrived.

I work on a farm in Florida so these boots do get HOT! Be sure to wear tall, thin socks or you will get a rash from the sweat and rubbing of the boots (Happened to me!). They are comfortable, but snug on the front half of my foot and slide on the ankle and heel.

(same as the 38’s I thought it was just because they were too big, but these feel the same just not as loose) When winter comes, I doubt I will be able to wear jeans or leggings with them because the mid calf part is pretty snug as well.

They are a bit of a challenge taking them off as well. They do a great job of keeping the dirt out and feet dry on the rainy days. The fit is a little odd, but thats my only critique. Comfort: 4 Durability: 5.

Fit is okay. They’re a little big in summer, but with thicker winter socks I would imagine they’ll be a better fit. They’re actually a little snug to get into, but once your toes have made it past the bottleneck they’re okay.

(I’m a Wide, usually, so that may not be a problem for narrow-footed folks. )Seem to be durable; certainly waterproof, and provide cushioning when you get stepped on. However, the boots themselves were uneven, one had a ridge at the back of the lower calf which rubbed me raw (that ridge wasn’t present on the other boot).

It’s softened up a bit now so isn’t as problematic. In summer, you’ll get super-sweaty feet! But being only mid-calf height your legs don’t get swampy too. Comfort: 3 Durability: 4.

The instep (that curve on the top as you slide your foot in) is VERY skinny. It is a workout to get your feet and out of them. The picture made the calf look roomy, but it’s not. It’s very uncomfortable if you want to tuck in pants or jeans.

I literally couldn’t give these away once other equestrians tried to get their feet in and out of them. They need to increase the instep to make it practical to get them on and off. Also, other equestrian’s (who wasn’t a child or teenager) found the calves to be tight, so it’s not just me.

The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because they are great quality and will last. They don’t get sucked off in deep snow, mud or muck and keep you dry. These were a bad investment for me.

My grandsons love them! Perfect for active kids who play outside, in theor yard or on the farm. Great quality, fot perfectly, amd keep their toes and tucked in pants nice and dry!

My 2 yr. old grandson loves them. They came quick. Little bi big but extra socks take up the space. Now he can help Mawmaw in the barn and stay dry. (Kinda)

The print was mis matched but the boots themselves are great. Three of the panels match, one is oddly printed. Doesn’t affect use or quality of boot. Fit well and are nicely made otherwise.

I absolutely love these boots. I seen them on a girl at work and would always comment on them. She said she had hers for about 8 years and they are her favorites, that they are very comfortable. So I ordered myself a pair.

They are great. No break in period. Comfortable from when I first put them on. My regular size is 8 1/2. I did order the 8 1/2, but there was not enough room in length, I felt like my toes were climbing up the front wall of the boot.

So I returned and purchased a 9 which was perfect. The boot is good quality and worth every penny. My foot leans on the narrow side, but long. I do not have a wide calve. They were easy to put on with no problem.

I definitely recommend these boots, but order a half size up.

I purchased my first pair of Dublin boots over 10 years ago and have loved them. They have held up well in all kinds of weather and conditions with little maintenance. Sadly, it was finally time for a new pair.

My new pair feel, fit, and look a bit different compared to the old design. I sized up a half size this time (from a 7. 5 to an 8) and the new boots still feel a teeny bit snug. The calves fit bigger than the original pair as well and I am not a fan of their updated look/design.

Overall, the new boots just don’t feel as solid in their design and manufacture as the older ones. I will keep wearing them hoping they break in a bit more and that the leather will wear as well as my old boots.

So Tractor Supply wants me to edit this – but they don’t even know that the maker of the boot is D. UblinBoot, DohtComm. It’s not a competitor – it’s on the box!!!!! they keep saying n o to this post – but the very maker of the boot who has the exact size chart that somehow TSC fails to publish on their site.

Be sure to get a measure tape and measure from the floor to just below back of your knee. If you are average – this boot will hit that crease most likely. Check first before you buy! Also the calf OPENING, – TSC’s “does it fit me” site doesn’t have this brand of shoe.

First, this boot ran big in my opinion, also you need to go to Dublin Clothing dahtCahm (a division of Weatherbeeta) to get the REAL size chart for all the details and inches for calfs. So the EW had a HUGE bulbous pocket on the back to hold the larger/heavier calf, but the opening at the top to he boot to actually pull it over the calf was SMALLER than than that – how can people with fat calfs get them on? I don’t have fat calfs, but ordered the EW so I could have bigger OPENING at the top of the boot, so in winter I can tuck a heavier pant in and use them – don’t plan on doing this, the openings are small at the top.

You can wear spandex, tights, but not heavier pants or jeans in winter.

Even tho I was sent the wrong order , muck quickly corrected this mistake. The staff was professional and kind. These boots are great !!! Good quality, comfy, fit tts, lightweight, and good camo pattern.

I got the boots a little big because my little guy grows fast. He loves wearing them all the time. These boots are the best my whole family has a pair. The service was great they got them shipped out and to us in a few days.

These are the best boots ever! We have many pairs of boots as we live on a mountain with a big creek running through our back yard. These are the only boots that keep my kids feet dry and warm! I think they seem true to size or maybe slightly small.

Now, I want a pair for myself!.

I really like the height of these boots. My only complaint is that the insole is not very supportive if you’re on your feet at the farm all day walking around. I replaced the insole with a cheap pair store bought ones, and the boots are much more supportive for a long day.

At the price, they are a good buy.

theses are nice boots for Florida weather. they keep feet dry but not hot. easy on and off. I like that in case I need to run out quick to catch horse, just did that for neighbor’s two. Seems to be durable, but let’s see how long they last 6 months and no worn areas.

Excellent boots for cooler weather. Keep feet dry and are comfortable for hours of walking. They were even 50% off! I am sure they will last for years.

I’ve only had these boots for a few weeks now and they seem to get more and more comfortable as I wear them – not that they were uncomfortable to begin with, just breaking in nicely. These are my first pair of leather winter boots, I have always had insulated “bean boots” in the past but I think leather will keep my feet warmer than rubber.

I’m much more into function than fashion, I refuse to wear “skinny jeans” (thinner / colder fabric & doesn’t look good on my short almost stumpy legs) so I jam my regular jeans into these boots which works well enough.

It’s somewhere between “I’m old enough to care only so much about how I look” and “it looks better than I thought it would”. Because my jeans are inside the boots they do keep my legs much warmer which helps keep my all-the-time cold feet significantly warmer.

Could probably have a bit more cushion in the foot bed but they’re still comfortable enough. Wondered if hay would stick to wool top but only very little. Hoping they stay water proof for quite sometime so that I don’t have to go back to the very cold rubber “bean boots” for the snow.

These are wonderful. The fuzzy lining is SO warm. The tall height helps keep my legs protected and cozy. For me they’ve been totally waterproof in the mud and snowy paddock muck so far. And they’re CUTE! I’ve gotten so many compliments on them.

They’re my go-to boots for every barn visit. They’re a little thick/clunky to ride in, but work fine for hopping on quick. Totally recommend these!.

I’ve struggled to keep my feet warm in cold temperatures even with insulated boots and wool socks. These boots keep my feet toasty even in single digit temps! It’s so nice to not have to worry about my feet getting cold.
