20 Best Waterproof Cabin Tent (2022 Updated)

This tent is good from a design and layout perspective. It sets up easily and keeps you dry. Unfortunately I noticed small tears in the ceiling screen after a one week camping trip. At first I thought perhaps some campfire cinders had landed on it, but the screen is underneath the rain fly, which was undamaged and had no signs of burns.

I also think the windows were designed to save cost, at the expense of ease of use and functionality. I don’t like having to attach a bunch of loops to put the window flaps up. These should be zippers, just like my good old Backcountry 4.

There are NO tie downs to hold the wrapped up window flaps either. You are apparently supposed to roll it up like a burrito and stuff it in the small pocket at the bottom? This makes stepping on, tearning, and tripping over window flaps a real problem when you’ve got children.

I bought this tent because it’s big, comes from a reputable brand, and is almost $200 cheaper than the comparable REI version. However I am most likely going to return it and spend the extra money if the REI version has better window/screen functions (like zippers).

Overall I like the tent. It does what it needs to do, and has a relatively easy set up. But, the windows don’t zipper close, great for ventilation but I’m worried about rainier weather with it. There is a pocket where it looks like the rain would funnel.

In theory, it should be fine but I can’t know until I camp in the rain. The door zipper is easily snagged on the fabric, and isn’t one continuous track. The fabric on the bottom of the tent is also very thin! No rips yet, but it felt as if one mildly sharp rock could tear a hole.

The pockets for storage are basically at the roof of the tent. I am 5’2 and will be unable to use these pockets. My partner can reach them, but if you’re laying down for bed they’re useless. Again, overall I still really like it, but I don’t know how many camping trips I will get out of it.

Purchased a couple months ago and have had it set up and used once. Storage bag is smaller than I would have thought for the size of tent – but it is a bit heavy. I could not find a purpose made ground tarp so I had to make my own.

Set up was easy for two and instructions were complete and clear. The online video also helped in identifying which poles go where. Once up, there is plenty of room inside for people and gear. We use with only 2 people and like all the extra space for gear.

We have enough space for a small table and chair and can even store the bikes and other bits inside the tent when needed such as bad weather. Looking forward to more use this summer and will update review as I get more experience.

Everyone, Purchased this tent for an extended stay at Yellow Stone this summer. So far the experience is setting up the tent in the yard to understand how it is to set up and to check for any defects that could cause issues.

The set up took about 20 minutes with my son’s help (It takes two to upright the poles). Plenty of room for five cots and clothing with room to manuver. The open roof without rain fly provides pleny of air circulation with windows open on each end.

Have not experienced rain but, do not see problems with the construction of the rain fly and tubbed floor. Over all satisfaction with construction is very good. The hinged door is very nice with the shock cord poles holding it to a consitant profile.

Privacy is not a problem from outside of the tent looking in but the room divider does not block every view. I am satisfied with the purchase and am looking forward to future use. Thanks, Darin Moody.

The tent is a bit heavy, but quality poles aren’t light, and I was able to set it up by myself, although it took a little longer than expected. If I had help, it would have been 10-15 minutes. My only complaints are that the instructions on the bag were for a different tent (I thought I was missing 2 poles until I realized the error), but it wasn’t hard to setup even without the instructions.

The tent did have a couple of small leaks inside but it rained all day, so it could have been worse. I will definitely waterproof the rainfly and seams before I take it out again. If I had to make the decision again, I would still buy it.

Within minutes of receiving this my son and had it on the front lawn and unpackaged. Neither one of us are the type to read instructions, and even still, we had it set up and taking pictures in 15 minutes.

We have perfected it down to ten. It is so easy with the color coded poles, and so strong because they are steel. I was concerned when I used it the first time that I hadn’t sealed the seems. Then we got a little rain, but never a drop inside.

After we got home I realized the seems are already sealed with tape – awesome! I love the light, I love the fan(it seems silly, but it circulates the air to help with condensation), I love the D style door.

I think this is a great tent and would recommend it to anyone.

Ho-ly cow. this thing is HUGE! When I first decided to go with this tent over the similar instant-up tent I was a little worried I had made the wrong decision. Yes, it takes a lot longer to set up and tear down, but in my opinion it is WORTH it when you realize the real-estate you’re creating.

Things to note: We have a family of 5, camp a few times a year, and typically stay on site for 3-4 days (an extended weekend or longer). The GOOD: –The space. it’s incredible to have headroom and walking-around room in a tent like this.

–Front porch. this hybrid area can serve as a mudroom or a bedroom if that makes sense, and it’s great for keeping bugs out of the main cabin. –Built like a brick house. during out first camping trip with this tent we had torrential rains for 30+ hours and major wind gusts and this thing just laughed at the weather.

Obviously it’s not going to protect against things like tree branches falling, but rain and wind didn’t affect this thing at all –the BAG! Finally a tent that actually fits back in it’s storage bag with room to spare.

Use the tent pole bag to roll the tent around – works great. The BAD (no deal breakers here!): –It’s heavy. You’re not hauling this thing much further than your car, but that’s also the trade off for the incredible space you get out of this tent.

–25+ minutes to set up, and the same (or more) to tear down. and much more difficult if you’re by yourself. Did a backyard test before taking it to the field and learned the hard way how to best set it up solo.

Stake it in BEFORE adding poles and it will save you a LOT of time and effort. The UGLY (Being super nit-picky here): –I wish the 3 sides of the rain fly over the main cabin curved outward to better cover the windows during a rain storm.

–Not a fan of the split in the material where the poles go through across the sides (grey and orange poles especially. ) Not sure why this isn’t one continuous sheath for the poles to go through, but perhaps that’s just a limitation of the manufacturing process.

It’s super annoying to have to fish the pole through the second half of the sheaths they go through. — The rain fly metal rings (for lack of a better word) on the black ground poles are not well-designed and two of them came out during the first set-up.

Not a huge deal, and I found a way to replace them with actual metal rings (keychain rings) for a more reliable anchor for the rain fly hooks. Despite my critiques (being overly critical in hopes it helps tweak future models), I still need to give this tent 5 stars because it is just incredible, especially for the money I paid (and THANK YOU for offering a military/veteran discount, Core!) Now this tent is clearly designed for a very specific use – big family, longer duration trips, etc.

– so consider this before buying, but if you are anything like us, you’ll find that the weight and the extra setup time is 100% worth the benefits gained from a large, high-celine cabin with front porch that keeps the dirt, rain, and bugs out of the main cabin.

This was my first time purchasing a Core tent after years of using the other C brand. I set it up for the first time pretty easy to understand. I was concerned with how tight and difficult it was to insert the pins into the poles.

I am hopeful that the next time will be easier. The tent is HUGE with plenty of room for my family. I am tall and really appreciate being able to stand up straight in the entire tent. I am excited about the amount of ventilation ability with this tent during the hot summer months.

The biggest issue I have is that there are already small holes at the top of the ten cross beam. A defect that I am concerned will continually get worse after each trip. Core customer service started out great with communication.

However, it has been over a week after I have reached out to them about the holes and it has been radio silence. I am still hopeful.

I only have 4 people in my family but wanted a tent that would grow with us (and our stuff). Some of the things I was looking for during my research were: screened in porch with a sealed bottom, large interior space to fit 4 comfortably, random perks like hanging pockets/pouches, an electricity flap for plugging things in, easy setup, and affordability.

I think this tent crossed those things off! While I wouldn’t think you’d actually want to fit 11 people in here, you probably could, though it would be a tight squeeze. For our maiden voyage, we only had one queen-sized air mattress and had at least 2-3 feet of space on either side (even more in front).

The front porch area is spacious enough to store gear or have a couple camping chairs and small table. There is a lot of ventilation and even with the rain fly on, it felt like we had decent air flow.

I can also attest to how it handles water, after personally experiencing getting caught in a multi-hour thunderstorm. For the first 30 minutes, there was no rain fly and plenty of rain, both in and out of the tent.

After getting the rain fly on, the rain stayed out for the rest of the night. This did result in us having to tear down and hang the tent out to dry, but I can now attest that it dried out fully in the sun and was able to be set up again later that day without any problem.

Set up and tear down were both relatively easy. Set up is easier with 2 people but could possibly be done with 1. Tear down is doable with 1 person as well. Fitting it back into the bag takes some trial and error, but again, doable.

The ability to stand in both sections is really quite nice. The only “downside” is that the tent is big and heavy, though you can’t really expect anything different for an 11 person tent. You probably would not want to take this backpacking unless your hike was very short.

Overall, highly recommend and can’t wait to camp again.

This Tent is high quality canvas and heavy duty stakes. Our first night in it, we were hammered by hail and heavy rain for hours. It stayed water tight with no issues. The only drawback is it does not come with a bag for storage and is quite large even when compressed and folded.

We found a XL waterproof duffle bag that works awesome but cost $120. I will be ordering the new version of the wall enclosure for the awning section as we will be using this tent for years to come. It is well worth the price tag.

The MESA is the best tent I have ever purchased. 4 years ago my family and I went on an advantage and this tent allowed us to help someone in need. While in the mountains a set of teenagers were camping and got lost.

For an overnight stay until morning we pulled them in and gave them a very warm place to stay for the night. “Roomy” was the word. It was four of us plus the young strangers. The space was enough for EVERYONE to be comfortable in a semi awkward situation.

We had enough food in the Orka cooler to share (another amazing camping tool). The 50 watt Goal Zero solar panels kept all the important things charged. Unfortunately, I was a victim of a house fire this summer and everything camping, except for the generator, got destroyed.

Thanking God that I am here able to write this review. Nevertheless; I had to get on here and explain how great of a product this is. This tent was one of the best things that I had gotten myself for camping.

We decided to get back to tent camping because it allows you more flexibility to camp in really great places. Purchased a 10×14 Mesa Canvas Tent after spending about 6 months looking at all types of tents and after spending 12 days camping in our current tent in UP Michigan.

We are older now and did not like the constant bending over to get in and out and we are both over 6ft tall. Purchased the new Teton Mesa and took it to Cape Hatteras for a 9 day tip and it delivered.

The wind was 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots all day and night. We even had 2 days of gale warnings, gusts reached over 30 knots. The tent held up and we did not have to bend over to get in and out, plenty of room to stand in tent and we stayed dry.

I was worried about the tent handling wind, I am sold on the Teton Canvas Mesa. I believe it will more than handle weather we would ever camp. Great purchase and very happy, been camping for 50 years in all types of tents and campers.

This tent is amazing, ample room to spread out and stand up. The included wall hanging and ceiling net are nice for accessories. We had some decent winds and rain, and not a drop of water came through, did its job just as expected.

I really liked the triangle vents at the top, was able to keep vents open during the rain without any water getting in. Sometimes the door is hard to close around the turn, a reinforced handle or tag would probably do the trick to hold it snug while zipping.

Hoping to get many years of good use from this tent.

After our last trip ended with our tent being filled to the brim with rain water, we decided to do some research on affordable water resistant tents. Eventually we settled on this one. That said, here are some pros and cons.

Pros: -Tall person friendly. The two of us are 5’3 and 6’1 and neither of us had to duck much -Nice views. You can unzip the windows for a panoramic view. -Roomy. We had space for a full size air mattress, all of our packs, cooler, lawn cart, 4 tier ferret cage, AND our other two friends on their camping chairs while it was raining and still didn’t have trouble maneuvering around.

-East setup and tear down. Tent poles are color coded to match the bands on the sleeves. With the two of us, it really only took a few minutes to get completely up. Tear down was just as fast and we were able to pretty easily fit the tent back into its bag.

-Keeps you dry! Our first outing with this tent saw us deep in the Missouri wilderness getting buckets upon buckets of water dumped on us. It started raining at 1am and didn’t fully stop until 2pm. After 13 solid hours of torrential rainfall, our tent was still almost completely dry.

Yes, if rain is pounding on your tent, it’s gonna get a little damp. We stuck a small hand towel in each of the corners to catch any water that may pool up– there wasn’t much, not enough to make the towels soggy.

Even the porch area, which lacks a tub floor, was relatively dry. It really only got wet from our shoes tracking in and out. Cons: -Rainfly needs reinforcing. This is actually my biggest gripe and a very simple fix for anyone handy with a sewing machine.

When we got this tent out for a pre-camping trial setup, we staked down the rainfly and a gust of wind came along and tore a section of the material. After inspecting it, I can say for certain that this happened because of the design.

At the very back of the fly, there is a guy line attached only to the fly’s bias whereas the others are all attached to the bias as well as a seam. All the lines attached at seams were sturdy and held without issue.

So I patched the rainfly and sewed the line back in place with a few layers of zigzag stitching and ironed on some heat bond. It held up great in the rain! *I contacted Coleman about the issue with the rainfly and they were quick to fix it for us.

Their customer service was great and I had a new product on my doorstep within 2 days! -Floor is a little delicate. We DID put this thing through the wringer, but we experienced a slight problem with camp chairs inside the porch area.

I placed my camp rug down inside the screened porch so our friends could bring their chairs in and sit while it was raining, but by the time they cleared out one of the chairs with pointy feet poked two holes in the floor.

Not a huge deal for us since it wasn’t in the actual tent, but a word of warning for anyone that plans on having pointed objects in theirs. -Center of rainfly tends to gather water. It eventually runs off but we decided to get up every few minutes to push the tent up so the water wasn’t standing just in case.

Not a huge deal but still a bit annoying. -Weak tent pegs. This should be a given for anyone with experience but those little pegs that come with all tents aren’t really the best. We used them for some sections but for the four corners of both the tent and the rainfly, we used stronger pegs.

-Windows on the sides can’t be opened in the rain. I suppose you CAN if you don’t mind getting wet, but I liked how you could open the back window during rain without getting soaked. If the side windows were protected by the rainfly the same way then you could.

Not so much a design flaw as much as it is a design preference. All in all, I would highly recommend this tent for someone who has beginner to intermediate camping experience.

I HATE how so many tents have the solid coverings to the windows on the outside – perverts dream. I should be able to close my windows for privacy, safety or weather without going outside. This tent has 3 huge windows and easy to use zipper closures inside the tent with 3 toggles across the top of each window to prevent the window fabric gapping.

CHECK! Why have a porch w/o a floor – bugs, snakes, spiders, etc – and many porch screens are sloped so the rain can easily come in and flood the covered porch area w/ or w/o a floor. This tent has a wonderful rain fly that covers the entirety of the porch and the porch itself has a drain of screen along the back.

CHECK! And speaking of the porch – It easily fits two lawn chairs and a small table to sit and enjoy the view bug free. CHECK! I don’t much get excited about gear lofts but this has several. BONUS! I really prefer help setting it up and taking it down BUT that being said it can be done in about 30 minutes by one person.

I’m a later middle aged woman so it’ll be under 30 minutes if your knees are spry and your back is nimble. CHECK! I may sell this one and go up to a 6 person – why? Because I like a tent to be a bit spacious like I am living in a van not my car.

But I may not, time will tell. Used several times this past summer (5 – 7 day stretches) and LOVE it other than wishing it had a couple more feet of space for me and my stuff. I’m counting on next summer being the same.

I like to leave my suitcase open on the floor for the week, an oscillating fan – electric or battery powered, and my journaling bag on the floor too plus my mattress. I spread out a little and don’t like it too compact.

This tent allows that. No holes or pulls in the bug screen. All poles and cords accounted for. I’ll invest in heavy duty stakes next summer because every place I camped had different soil and next summer should be a beach trip so I’ll need good deep sand stakes too but I look forward to my Coleman being my home away from home.

I was surprised that the tent did not include any set up instructions. Very disappointed with this as it was not intuitive. The next time I set up the tent I will be less stressful. I was lucky to have another person to help me or I don’t think I could have done it.

I also had one pole section split in half when I set it up. I was lucky to have some duct tape to save the day. I have not experienced any rain with this tent yet but I am worried that rain will come in as the fly just doesn’t seem to be large enough.

Nevertheless, it does seem to be well constructed and I would recommend this tent as it is large and roomy. If the tent had been easier to set up and a pole section did not split I would have given this review a higher rating.

Love this tent. Ordered it for some ultra comfortable car camping in the Sierras for a week. We (very comfortably) fit a queen air mattress, the dog’s bed, our clothing bags and even a table for our morning coffee in the main portion.

The main room has the most wonderful screened ceiling. Perfect for star gazing in bed at night. The solid walls with zipper screen windows are perfect for when you want some privacy. The screen patio was perfect for dirty clothing, as a “mud room” and for enjoying the outdoors away from mosquitoes.

The screen room also zips up for privacy but we almost never used that. Sure it’s very handy though. I really hope this tent lasts me many many years and trips because it’s almost the most perfect tent for plush car camping.

I wish the floor was made of a thicker material, it just feels like the forest floor can easily puncture it. Also, wish that the main cabin had a few more pockets. Other than that, perfect tent. Oh, and it’s really heavy, just be aware, wasn’t a problem for us.

Oh oh oh, and I found it easy to set up and pack away once we finished camping. Another win!.

This is my second Core tent (first is larger, family instant tent) Got 4 person straight wall for solo car camping with my cat and dog in dispersed areas. I set it up in 12 minutes first time, 9 minutes second time.

The attached instructions on the storage bag are clear and simple. Despite arthritis and being a solo camper, I had no problems assembling it. (see attached unboxing-setup video) Interior has room for my Coleman XL heavy duty cot, the dog’s travel inflatable mat and my camp toilet.

Decent ventilation, missed the 3rd window though the air vent on that side does help with ventilation. Easily broke down, folded and fit into carry bag. Suggestion for solo campers; bring one small carabiner, use it to secure one hook of the rainfly so you can put it up easier.

The plastic hooks don’t stay connected to the metal clip without tension. Securing just one makes it easy to set up the rainfly. I did it without assistance twice, but the wind catches it and I wished for a helper.

I’m a first time camper preparing to take my daughter camping with her Girl Scout troop next weekend. Thank goodness I tried putting this tent up at home before arriving at the campground because it contained no stakes! We went to Walmart to get 4 stakes and had a gracious neighbor give four some more, which you do need for the rain fly and welcome mat thing.

Once we had the stakes, it was easy enough to put together and we like it very much. Not sure if the stakes were left out of the package or if they simply aren’t included. If the latter, it would have been nice to know how many are required.

I spent $80 on one of these tents 24 years ago & still use it. When my kids were old enough to camp, I let them use this tent because it was so easy to set up. I just bought each of them their own. This humble tent has survived regular use in all 4 seasons of the Michigan & Wisconsin North woods.

It has not let water in yet despite some impressive rain storms, though I do waterproof it every few years. I think I used seam sealer on it once or twice. Its all stained up from years of leaves, sap, pine needles, occasionally being wet in the bag for a week, but I think of it as patina.

The floor has never torn, nor has the canvas. It even still smells ok inside. For $80.

I acquired this tent in 4/2021 but did didn’t use it until the next month. I had it on two camping trips total in 2021 and just brought it on the third trip for Memorial Day weekend this year. Two parts broke on that trip: one of the metal connectors at the end of the pole, and one of the plastic clips on the tent that hooks onto the poles.

Just my luck, I was just one month out of the 12 month warranty period when it broke. All Coleman offered was a 20% off coupon which I personally would not spend more on a Coleman tent if I’m only going to get 3 uses out of it.

I really wanted to love this tent. The convenience of popping it up was great, and it was what I was looking for in terms of not having open air given that we were camping with overnight lows in the 40s.

I’ve also been a fan of Coleman tents given their foundation flooring is tarp and not tent material like many other tents. My biggest complaint was that this tent is not waterproof nor even water resistant.

I ahd read of others having the same complaint of the tent leaking, but I thought I’d give the tent a shot. Sadly, the overnight dew was enough to sleep through the tent. The interior walls were saturated, and it was enough that it left small puddles of water on the floor.

I would hate to think what results an actual rain shower or storm would yield as I doubt it would keep you dry even with a rainfly (which I also purchased and used by the way). Given that the tent is advertised as “weather tech” printed on the outside front of the tent, I would have hoped this included water resistance at the very least.

Not sure what this specific “tech” applies to. Needless to say, I was rather disappointed in the lack of performance of this tent and it’s inability to keep us completely dry.

I own both the 4 person and 6 person versions, and use the rain flys. Both are very easy to setup. I use the 4 person on motorcycle trips, the 6 for car camping. The 6 person version I have is very waterproof.

The 4 person, not so much. I am not sure why. After using the 4 person in NC during a steady rain, it leaked quite a bit – the sides just transpired the moisture to the point it pools on the floor. I wound up treating the tent with silicone spray, and it still leaks a bit.

I think the weave of the fabric perhaps changed or is different from the 6 person. Very disappointing. I’ve never had a problem with the 6 person in any weather. Stake it out it rides through most any normal weather just fine.

Very roomy, and comfortable. Will hold heat well enough with a small propane heater (I use a Coleman catalytic). In hot weather, the fly helps a lot. Plenty of height for a 6′ person. I usually have a tarp laid down, a large cot, a chair and a small table – and plenty of room.

For motorcycle trips, I have an older GS bike, and the 4 person rides well on the bike. Just wished it didn’t leak so much. I have owned a number of tents at various price points – and kept using the 4 and 6 person.

I like canvas tents better – but not at their price points. The 6 person holds its own quite well. The 4, eh, need to judge the weather more before doing an adventurous trip. I’ve read many other reviews with a similar opinion.

Pity – there must be something about the fabric, or sewing. perhaps even the year made.

Like others I live thus te t fir the space and relative ease of set up. You do need to be careful and easy on the poles to not get them jammed or brake a knuckle where they bend. The first two times I used the tent the experience was great.

Roomy. Set up cots inside. Felt like glamping. The next three times I’ve encountered rain. Like others the floor gets soaked and water appears to be coming through sides and seems. I have additional rain fly and that dues not help.

Between the first time in rain and the next two times I have seem sealed and weather sprayed the entire tent twice. I have slowed down leakage but floor still gets wet. Very very disappointed and frustrated.

I won’t be using the tent again as I can’t risk it raining while camping and having everything get wet. An expensive lesson. Dint buy unless you can guarantee you’ll be camping in dry weather.

Update 8/16/21: It rained! We had a late afternoon thunderstorm pop up this past weekend, but everything inside our tent stayed dry. I sent my teen to zip up the windows, but with the air vents engaged, it didn’t even get stuffy! It was a very humid weekend, however, and the floor got a little damp underneath his sleeping pad, and under the packing blanket I use under my air mattress, likely from condensation.

*** I like space and comfort when I’m sleeping in the woods. There, I said it. On a recent group trip, a friend offered to come back in 5 minutes to help me “pitch” my tent. When she got back, I was staking the guy lines on the rain fly while my air mattress inflated inside.

When it’s just me, I set up a queen air bed and a camp table inside for my lantern, toothbrush, and weather-resistant JBL bluetooth speaker, with room for gear and some aggressive dancing. My 6’2″ husband can stand up inside.

When all three of us camp, my son’s sleeping pad and bag fit just fine and the divider creates a little privacy. Typically, I string solar twinkly lights around it and use a USB bug light/hanging lamp inside.

Tons of screen area mean you catch breezes when it’s hot, and if there’s no rain in the forecast, you can skip the fly and stargaze through the screen ceiling. It’s not light (35 pounds?) but everything goes back in the back no problem when you pack out, including the tarp I use as a footprint (not included).

I’ve lucked out with foul weather so far for two seasons, but I always test it with my garden hose before I use it to make sure it’s still repelling water. Based on that, I’d suggest zipping the windows mostly closed if it’s aggressively rainy, but that seems like common sense to me.

Perhaps the only design change I’d suggest: instead of both the double door and the D-door being on one corner of the tent, shift the D-door over, so when the divider is in use, it’s a truly two-room experience.

Though I’ve only used it a few times when camping with my son for cub scouts, it has been fantastic. That is is until this weekend when camping, the silver button on one of the leg poles broke and the pole couldn’t stay extended.

My son and I had to camp all weekend with the corner of the tent collapsed! It ruined what was otherwise a nice campout with the scouts. The tent is just out of warranty (purchased 13mo ago), so customer service was a dead end.

The rep had zero empathy for the terrible experience we had. She simply argued the warranty and left it at that. Given the nature of what broke, how well I take care of the tent (garage kept and well cared for), and us having to deal with a broken tent all weekend, I don’t think I’m being unreasonable by asking Core to send me a replacement pole.

We’re set to camp again in two weeks for spring break and now I have to spend another ~$200 in just over a year. It’s sad because the tent is still like new. I really wanted to have it for many years to come and not have it be just another 1yr product that breaks and is trashed.

I can’t say enough good things about this tent. We have used it several times already, but we just completed a week of camping down the Oregon Coast and the Redwood Forest with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs.

We broke camp every morning and set up further down the coast every afternoon. This tent is what made it possible. I did waterproof the underside of the rainfly before setting off which helped keep s dry.

We did have a bit of leakage at the seams where the window fasteners are sewn in – the moisture dripped from the plastic piece to the floor or whatever was under them. The windows weren’t a problem as some mentioned.

I think a large part of the complaints people have are simply user error. I will seal the seams when we get home and use a good waterproof spray on the inside of the tent to prep for its next use. We live in Montana and have used it successfully in the mountains in the summer, and plan to do it again.

I will have to figure out a way to hold in some of the warmth a little more, but I realize that this tent is probably not really intended for mountain environments. The constant dampness of the coast was also manageable as long as we aired out in the afternoon.

We use a tarp as a footprint to protect the floor of the tent. Sleeping on thin air mattresses (purchased at Costco) ensured that everyone was comfy every night. Next time we will add a second rain fly and tarp poles to make a vestibule for our side door.

This tent is everything advertised. It’s first life was as a camping tent for a Scoutmaster and his boys, used occasionally for a few years. When his boys grew up he quit, and passed the tent on to his sister, my friend.

I have been homeless for several years, but working, and this tent has lasted. with minor repairs due to contents shifting during flooding and dislodging poles. through 4 hurricanes and 2 tropical storms including Harvey and Imelda.

This tent is stable and takes both wind and water very well, although I supplemented the rainfly with an overhead tarp, and has been my shelter for close to 5 years. It has been difficult but am looking at the good possibility of a new job and if I still cannot afford shelter immediately I plan to purchase this same tent to faithfully take me through until I can afford more conventional housing!.

This was the first “new” Coleman tent my wife and I bought for ourselves. Prior to this one, we had hand me down Colemans from our family or cheaper off brand tents. We initially loved the tent even with the higher than most price tag.

After about our third or fourth camping trip the plastic plates that hold the light and switch in place broke. Also we started noticing water would leak through the seems where the floor and side walls meet (about 6 inches from the ground) during mild to heavy rainfall.

After a few more years we decided to try out another brand. After a few seasons with a Coleman competitor we reverted back to our Coleman tent. I spent roughly $30 on replacement plates, new elastic string for one of the tent poles and a few cans of waterproofing spray.

We are now happy with our tent again, we just feel these minor issues could have been addressed and corrected by Coleman prior to mass producing, as I have seen others with the same issues. I definitely do not think the Coleman Brand I was brought up on as a child is as strong and durable today, but that seems true for most of the top outdoor companies from decades ago.

If you are looking to purchase this tent be sure to waterproof it ahead of time and be VERY gentle with the small plastic plates holding on the fan/light and switch.

I may have posted a prior review, but now after owning this tent for three years, we just continue to be amazed at how much we love it. Coleman seemed to think through everything to make it user-friendly.

My wife and I consistently set this tent up in less than 15 minutes. We love the full height throughout the tent – much better than domed tents. We never go camping with it without multiple people commenting to us on how nice a tent it is.

I have often gotten questions regarding how it would stand up in a wind and rain storm, and up until this last weekend, could never say that it had been really tested. This past weekend we were in a prolonged high winds and heavy rain storm.

We literally had almost two inches of water on one side of the tent backed up and flowing under it. The walls of the tent would move in and out with the wind. The rain was so heavy that my wife and I had to raise our voices when right next to each other to be heard.

NO LEAKS! Not even a drop. And that is after three years of use. I hope Coleman continues to offer this tent because in a heart beat I would buy it again.

My first use of this tent was a three day beach camping trip at Assateague Island, MD. Setup was quite easy and did it by myself. It rained fairly steady the first day and night. It held up really well.

There were a couple ounces of water puddled at the door, but I think that was from entering and exiting the tent. The door opens into the tent so water tends to drain onto the floor of the tent. The problem I had with this tent is the rainfly.

It did an excellent job blocking the rain. It did a poor job blocking the wind. The wind, tends to swoop underneath the rainfly and into the top of the tent which is all mesh. Had it not been for that, I would have given this tent 5 stars.

This would probably make a very good tent in a warmer environment or low wind environment. By the way, I was able to substantially reduce the amount of wind coming into the tent by placing a tarp over the tent that extended below the rainfly.

I will continue to use this tent, but I will be figuring out how to close off most of the mesh in the roof. Or maybe the manufacturer can figure that out.

This is a very nice and spacious tent. It sets up in just a few minutes and is just as easy to take down once you learn how to fold the material towards the center. It kind of opens and closes like an umbrella, but fits easily into the bag once you get the hang of it.

We did it with two people which makes it easier but I think it could be done with one as well. We have a queen size Aerobed which fits easily in this tent with plenty of room for extra glamping as we also carry a propane heater, solar generator and laptop with external speakers for watching movies and shows.

It rained pretty hard on us the first night as well as snow and hail. The tent did not leak at all. What I did not like and why I gave this tent only three stars is the front door of the tent (there are two, the others on the side) when unzipping sort of hits a point in the upper left corner where the tension of the pole makes it a little rough to unzip in that spot.

The way the tent is designed with the straighter walls I guess it cannot be helped. Also on our second night the zipper on said door got stuck on the tent flap material and required pliers to pull the zipper through.

I had to run the zipper over that spot a few times to get the tines lined up and working again although for a moment I was thinking this thing is going back for a refund. The side door came in very handy for getting our dog (70 lbs) into her crate at night, so the second side door came in very handy.

The other thing I found out when folding up the tent was the thin material of the flooring. Though we checked for sticks and rocks I guess we did not find them all and the bottom of the tent had an area where a rock had rubbed almost all of the way through the bottom of the tent, very disappointing.

I fixed the abrasion with some Gear Tape and am willing to live with it as a lot of our equipment and camp clothing has patches from tears and embers. I would prefer a stronger layer of material for the floor of the tent but also realize that would increase weight and cost.

So for now we are happy with the tent at this price point and the ease of set up and take down. We leave again for three days starting tomorrow so I may change my rating and review after that. I think we will be satisfied with this tent as long as zippers getting stuck in the tent material is not a recurring problem.

2021 – I’m on my 5th tent purchase and review! This is the Best Tent so far! I’m at a stage where the kids are grown and I want a smaller tent I can put up myself and stand up in. I’ve bought Colem_n tents for decades, but their current products are cheaply made and the designs aren’t great! I tried a C_re tent, which was a great design, but rainfly fabric was see-through thin.

No way it’s keeping rain out! This Members Mark is my 5th tent! I am In Like-Like with it!!! It was easy for 2 people to set up (I had my daughter help me on the 1st set up), and think I can do it myself next time.

It goes up in a few minutes! The fabric feels like tent canvas on the outside, lightly rubbery coated on the inside. The rainfly doesn’t touch the tent! Windows on three sides plus the roof zips open for ventilation or closed for black out – all with screening.

The ceiling design is awesome!!! If you unzip the windows, instead of tying the flaps, there are pouches to tuck the rolled flaps into. Hard to explain, but a Great design! The only design flaw is the door’s 2 zipper design.

One zipper goes across the bottom left to right, and another zipper goes from top left to bottom right along the curve. I like to zip my tent up at the top to guarantee no unwanted critters can get in.

Plus, I lock my tent with little luggage locks and that’s easier done at eye level. This tent has So Many Great Features It’s a keeper! The description says this tent is 68″ tall, but it’s taller than that.

My daughter is 5’7″ and based on how much room was above her head I’d say it’s closer to 6′ at it tallest on the inside. The tent has an upside-down V shape, like a house, so the tallest height runs across the tent (unlike dome tents that are their tallest height only in the center).

The rainfly is another 3″ above that.

We bought this tent because our family of five was just crammed in an eight persons tent. We use air mattresses and a cot so this gave us the space we needed to leave our bags on the floor of the tent and still have room to walk around.

The set up was easy once we figured out the directions, lol. We decided to color code our poles the way we wanted. Definitely worth the money you won’t be disappointed.

I wanted to love this so much! Unfortunately I’ll be returning it. This tent is not up to LL Bean standards. We’ve used this tent twice, we have a snapped pole, a hole in the sidewall and a hole in the floor.

Both times we used it, it was raining so no fires or anything damaged the tent. Unfortunately, one of the times was very windy and it ripped the sidewall. We have all LL Bean equipment so I am very much of the mindset to take care of your things and they will take care of you.

Unfortunately, this isn’t it. It was great in the sense that very little water leaked into the tent considering the storm we had. But the rainfly set up leaves it extremely cold inside in inclement weather.

I was so disappointed with the money we spent and the outcome of this tent. Also no footprint. I have had many LL Bean tents for years and years with no issue in quality. This one just doesn’t live up to the standard.

I so badly want to 5 star this! But it’s missing a few elements. First off, I don’t know why the windows are so small. Could have easily made these drop lower so you could see outside more, but maybe that will be their next version.

The door feature is nice! Way better than crawling through most other tent doors. But again, a window in the door would be nice. Maybe I just like more open space. Tent is big! But feels smaller because of feeling so enclosed inside.

Dog feature is a bit pointless, but maybe 1 out of 50 dogs would sleep in there. Does make a good storage space though. Tent should have another exit/entrance. All tents should have this at this point.

Quality of build is solid! Had a few heavy rains and it did really well. I was surprised since the floor feels a bit more thin VS my last 8 person tent. I’d say this one is worth the money but don’t think you are going to backpack with this one.

This tent was okay, first let me start with the positives, 4 rooms I mean HELLO SPACE! It was nice having rooms on each corner and a central space in the middle. We used this one in our backyard and it did fine.

Set up was okay (about 20 min in the dark). We did however end up returning this for a 3 room instant tent and here is why: for starters the 4 rooms seemed small, with a queen size bed it pretty much didn’t allow any walking space.

We had two blow up air mattress in the second space that spilled out into the center of the tent and the privacy dividers on each room seemed pointless as we couldn’t walk around the bed. Our son was comfortable with a twin blow up mattress and had tons of room in his section.

Also, we were able to put a 6ft table in the middle with chairs! So that was really nice but the “4th room” is really just a entryway so we used it more as a mud room. I am 6ft 1 and my husband is 6ft 6 and he felt very cramped and kept hitting his head, but I was comfortable and felt fine walking the space.

We returned this one and bought a 3 room Ozark instant tent which was better for our family of 6 space wise. Still a good tent just not for us.

This is my 4th Ozark Trail 14-person 4-room with 4 entrances TENT. I keep them up 24/7, 365 days per year, and they always last 9-months or more-that’s over a hundred camping days in sun, rain, and snow, until mine finally die from daily sun rot, pole break, or whatever.

Since I leave it up year-round, I sometimes lay a tarp over it, so it’s protected from the sun rot; slows the aging of the nylon down. So if you are going to camp out in your huge backyard any old time you want, like I do with my grandkids and dogs, (I have privacy fences, and a lot of room), or if you just put it up a dozen camping trips per year, and pack it away for the next summer, this is your baby!! You won’t be sorry, I promise.

It has a bathtub floor, and the walls don’t leak from even 4 or 5 sequential HEAVY days of rain! I have never treated mine with rain stuff. (I love, love, love to sit in there and read, with the pounding rain coming down all around me, all warm and cozy.

) In my room, I have 1 queen inflatable mattress-(I’m going to switch to a full because it’s just me, and a full size would give me some more space. ) In each of the next 2 rooms, I have 1 army cot with plenty of room to spare, with walking room, and a 3-shelf canvas camping end table, and storage under the cots, etc.

; in the middle room, I have a big easy chair, a small table, a twin inflatable mattress that flips closed, after you wake up, and converts into a comfy chair. All rooms have 2 windows that zip closed, an inside privacy door that zips closed, as well, All 4 rooms have their own doors that lead to the outside! I use the one ‘room’ for the entranceway with just chairs on each side.

And of course I have tons of camp lights, camp fans, sheets, pillows, blankets, games, books, a 100-foot extension cord that has it’s own slot to come into the tent. Plenty of comfort camping, here!.

I am writing this review while it is raining pretty hard out. Where my family is staying we are in the yellow and red spots on the radar of this rain storm. The tent did leak after about 2 hours of this abuse but the leaks were minor in comparison to how bad I thought they would be by some of the negative reviews I read on here.

The tent material is completely saturated but the water that did make it in pooled in the corners by the doors or came in from the seams where the room dividers are connected. My wife did mention the occasional drop that would come down from the rain fly but as I said this tent withstood a lot of rain abuse tonight.

Check the weather before you go camping if its going to rain make some adjustments (buy products to weatherproof the tent, hang up tarps at the campsite, etc. ) and you will be fine. The tent is smaller than I imagined but still a big tent and 2 people set it up easy enough.

The room dividers were great each kid had his own room. The common area is big enough to entertain the family. Would definitely recommend this tent. We will be buying something to seal the seams better but I am happy with how this tent performed in the rain.

Nice tent! Easy and quick setup! Roomy! Fit a family of four nicely. We had 1 queen and two twin mattresses and still had room. I like the pockets throughout the tent, came in handy for phones and books.

Love the height, no one had to hunch over! Had a cord port which was nice! And I really liked that it had a screen room, that was my initial reason for purchasing. Not sure how it will withstand rain though, since we had good weather while camping.

Wish the carrying bag was slightly bigger, since its hard to get enough air out of the tent when rolling it back up to fit comfortably. And wish the tent bag had padding on the handles.

I’m not sure about the quality of the tent because it arrived three weeks after I needed it so I returned it without opening the box. However, the customer service at Camping World was exceptionally bad.

I ordered the tend on May 5th and they said it was backordered until May 7th. On May 25th, the tent had not shipped and I needed it for that weekend. I reached out to customer service via an email and online chat.

I never heard back from my email. The online chat representative told me that the tent was in the “process of shipping” and the order could not be canceled at this time. I never received any sort of shipping notification at all.

The tent arrived to my house last week, five weeks after I ordered it. I saw on the package that it had shipped on June 5th. That’s about ten days after they told me that it was in the process of shipping and couldn’t be canceled.

Now my husband has to lug this heavy tent and pay to have it shipped back. Terrible customer service all around. Would never recommend ordering from this company again.

Better than anticipated. Camping world would sell more units if they gave a better description. Very nice family tent. Good quality. Withstood moderate storm first time used.

We needed a little bigger tent for our camping adventures. This is our 2nd Bass pro shop tent and we love it! It’s huge, it is super easy to put up and down. Lots of windows for a nice breeze. Can stand up and not feel cramped! It’s a good quality tent, you won’t be disappointed!.

We have only camped in this tent once. The weather was not bad, just a little wind and rain. The side of the tent the wind came from kept laying down. Water leaked in around the door. We are worried what will happen when an actual storm hits while we are camping.

I bought this tent from Bass pro shop 5 years ago. I am 6’2 and I can walk around with ease. The tent is large enough for a queen size mattress and a table at the other end for the coffee maker and such.

It has a hole for the power cord. The tent has been well used in the bush as we are a 4×4 family. But camping in the October month it gets chilly at night for it is a summer only tent. So the only complaint is the bag, they got it in there but once it is out good luck getting it back in, just bought a plastic carrier for it.
