20 Best Waterproof Self Tanner (2022 Updated)

I am coming from using the St. Tropez mousse, which gave me a great brown color (not orange) but I hated the color guide staining everything. This tanning water is great in that it truly does not stain or transfer (I wore an old white tank while it dried to make sure).

It was very easy to apply- after the shower/shaving, I dried off completely and used a mitt to apply. I sprayed the product directly on the mitt and I did not have any streaking or any issues with the product getting on anything.

The color is a bit orange, which I can get away with because I have warmer undertones, but still not as good as St. Tropez color. I think this product is perfect for a weekly application to stay golden during the summer, but would either get a spray tan or use something else for a big event.

I also do not think I would use this on my face. I would rather use bronzer or a darker foundation shade to match me.

Ive purchased every color in this self tan water! The light is soo beautiful and nice for fall and winter it gives you a beautiful light tan! The medium is perfect!! The color is the best golden tan I’ve very had and it actually gives me this glow that enhances my own skin!! I get so many compliments when I wear it! It gives me the perfect golden tan! The dark is super super dark! It’s a pretty brown golden tan! This is a clear formula and it has no color barrier but it’s still SO easy to apply!! It gives flawless color and doesn’t build up around the knees wrists feet or anything like that as long as you use it sparingly and put moisturizer in those areas! It doesn’t smell bad! The color lasts for about a week! It’s a really really great self tanning water!! The only thing I don’t care for is the fact you spray it on it makes it a little messy and your floor will be super slippery so lay a towel underneath your feet! I just spray it on my skin and use a mit to rub it in! I usually do one coat and leave on overnight rinse off and apply another coating overnight and rinse off and this gives the perfect tan!.

This self tanner has to be the worst one I’ve ever tried. It’s messy because the mist lands everywhere when you’re spraying it, you can’t see where you’ve already applied because it’s clear but you still feel sticky afterwards.

It’s runs everywhere and it’s very splotchy when it’s coming off. The weirdest part for me though was washing it off after application and it washed off with a tint as if it was a regular mousse tanner.

It doesn’t fully develop for days, it looks very orange instead of natural and I had random tan spots on my hands and feet the next day that developed way later than the rest of it. It’s super streaky and splotchy when it comes off too, I was walking with random dark spots on my arms all week.

I’ve tried tons of self tanning lotions. This one is great and here’s why: – no tanning smell, this mousse actually smells quite nice during application. It’s a soft subtle scent of something spa like mixed with a rich baby lol – this mousse DEVELOPS.

Looks quite light upon application because this product doesn’t dazzle you with the color guard that washes off in the first shower after application. Cheaper mousse will do that. Not this one. It has 100% DHAs meaning it’s potent in the developing process.

– it lasts a week if not longer if you care for your self tan (moisturize daily) – the fading period is quite graceful This mousse isn’t for you if: – you don’t enjoy being a tad sticky after applying.

The stickiness goes away after a bit but it is a little sticky, not excessive though. – cool tone people may not enjoy the this product as it could make them look a little orange. It’s good for neutral and warm skin tones as I feel this tanner leans a bit on the warm tone.

If you have fair skin like me and want a natural looking tan, this is the product for you. If you want a super dark tan, this is not for you. There is a green tinted guide color in the mousse to help you apply evenly so you will look extra dark and streaky until you rinse off in the shower.

Once it washes off it’s obviously lighter but more natural looking. Then it gets a little darker over the next 8 hours or so. The people complaining about it being streaky when first applying and color washing off in the shower didn’t read the description on the bottle because it’s supposed to do that.

Also yes, I agree it is sticky and has a smell until you rinse off but I’ve never tried a self tanner that doesn’t have that. I put on loose clothes after a couple mins despite the stickiness and have never had issues with transfer.

I always apply it when I plan to not leave the house for a few hours. I’ve tried a lot of self tanners and have stuck to this one for the last year because it’s the easiest to apply (because of the guide color), has the best end result color (not orange), and I like that I only have to have it on for 3 hours.

I apply once a week and the big bottle lasts me over 2 months.

I first tried St Tropez about 15 years ago when self tanning at home started to trend more, it was the best then and it’s the best now. I’ve tried all the major brands over the years, the expensive £30 ones and the cheap £5 ones and none of them compare to the OG – St Tropez.

The formula is so silky it simply glides onto your skin and blends so well with a mitt, it really is fool proof. It smells nice as you apply, it’s not overwhelmingly fragranced. I won’t deny there is the tell tale fake tan smell as it develops but I just think whatever brand and whatever the packaging boasts you cannot get away from the smell, however with the St Tropez it isn’t as strong.

I leave it on overnight as I like a darker tan which this achieves without looking orange. It develops to suit my skin tone. It fades pretty evenly without going patchy, but you often get a build up in the creases of your body, again that’s the same with all tan so I often scrub these areas a bit harder of loosen with a body oil.

I highly recommend it.

This is the best self tanner you will ever use. Seriously, this is a must have. Super seamless, natural-looking tan, with zero blotchiness because the mist is very fine. I always get compliments on the color too.

A much healthier alternative to excessive UV rays (though a healthy amount of sun is still great. ) I like to apply after a shower before bed-time and make sure to spray evenly over my face and neck at about 7 inches away.

I wipe the very edge of my hairline just, in case the product has built up and in the morning I’m all set, though if you’re having a no-other-face-products kind of day, you could totally wear this out.

It gives a subtle dewy glow. It lasts about a week for me. I’ve never had a problem with this product staining any of my fabrics but I always heir on the side of caution and sleep with a shirt that I wouldn’t mind getting stained.

I would also put a shirt on my pillow if I had white pillow shams, but mine are red and this product has never stained them. Totally worth the purchase even if you’re just vaguely considering it. Not into it? Exfoliate and return it, though I feel like criticisms on this product are rare.

I don’t see how anyone who uses the product correctly and methodically would ever have anything bad to say about it. SERIOUSLY A SUMMER MUST HAVE! ST. TROPEZ, THIS PRODUCT SLAYS. BEST SUMMER PRODUCT EVER!.

I can’t say enough great things about this product. I have tried a lot of tanning products but most either have a horrible smell, and leave me either streaky, or orange. But this one was gorgeous it has the finest mist and dries instantly.

So you can build it up to the colour you want to achieve. It has a lovely Tropical scent which was not over powering, but enough to not smell of chemicals like most do. I also love that this has skin care properties in it, hyaluronic acid.

So my skin felt lovely and soft. After my 5 day trial I have been left with this gorgeous golden tan that you can’t tell is fake. You can build up to however dark you want to go. It’s definitely my new favourite facial tanning product, and I will be using this from now on!! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to of tried this as I have now finally found my new favourite facial mist.

There is nothing I would change about this. I can’t recommend this enough. I love love love it! Try for yourself, its a must.

I love this bronzing water face mist as it provided a natural, sun-kissed glow with no streaks! Firstly I followed my usual skincare routine ensuring to exfoliate and moisturise (especially the dry areas).

Holding it approx. 20cm away from my face, I then sprayed 6 pumps as directed over the face and neck. Skip to 8 hours later… AMAZING! No smell and it gave a healthy, even bronzed glow. Skip to the following morning… no transfer on my clothes / bedding.

WINNER! Overall this tanning face mist gets a huge thumbs up from me. It is so easy to use and looks so natural. You can easily top it up too if you want to enhance the tan further. As it is a light-medium shade, it provides a really natural glow (not the orange type!).

You need to be careful when applying it as you cannot see the product due to it being a water mist. Thankfully the nozzle disperses the product evenly so that makes it less of a concern. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a natural tan!.

I’m pale with cool undertones, I started looking into self tan bcuz my skin doesn’t tan, don’t get it wrong I don’t burn either. 35, never had a sunburn & never worn sunscreen in my life. Like anyone else who is pale my biggest concern with using a sunless tan was looking orange, and streaks.

I slept with this on and didn’t wake up orange or streaky. but I also wasn’t as dark as I wanted to be, I rinsed, reapplied, went on with my day and rinsed off about 10 hours later. I still wasn’t orange and much to my surprise I had no streaks anywhere.

The color I got was a warm golden tone, it was noticeable after the first night but now I was looking like I’d been on vacation, or I guess how I see others when they’ve come back from vacation haha so I must inform you there is a trick to using this.

Prep your body a whole day in advance, deep exfoliating, and moisturizing when you get out of the shower. Gently wash the day you plan to apply tan (don’t shave bcuz it will “stick” to your follicles and your legs will have a bunch of tiny dots, this is why you prep the day before) now after you dry off go ahead and apply your moisturizer but only on your ankles, toe knuckles, heels, knees, elbows, hands and wrists.

Let it sink in, give it a good 20 minutes at least. Now shake up the mist DONT spray directly on your body, spray it on your mitt! It dries a little fast so hurry up and buff it into your skin. Go over your whole body.

Thankfully this is tinted so you will see if you miss any areas. Don’t freak out, I know the guide color is a little orange, but it rinses off. This is why I opted to sleep in it. The guide color did transfer to the inside of my clothes, it’s important to only wear very lose fitting clothes while this is setting, or be naked.

It did not stain my clothes or sheets though! As soon as I took them off I put them in the wash with some regular tide detergent and it came right out, no soaking or scrubbing!.

I bought this because of all of the excellent reviews, but I did not have a good experience with it. I have used many different fake tans over the years and use them all year round. I found this to be relatively easy to apply, with spraying onto the mitt, and it did have a nice smell initially but they were the only real positives.

The tan is is no way ‘express’. It had to be left on overnight to make any descernible difference to the colour of my skin and when washed off looked far too yellow toned and left the classic ‘biscuit’ smell.

It was not particularly even either. I don’t have these issues with my usual fake tan products so won’t be buying (or using) this again.

Spray onto mitt and blend into skin. Do NOT try to spray this directly onto your skin or you’re going to have a bad time. It sprays out hard and fast, very much like spray paint. Your own arms length is probably not long enough to have a good enough distance to evenly spray yourself like a “spray tan” without it gathering, dripping, and pooling by your feet.

I read several other reviews of people spraying it directly on their skin and having a bad experience with this. Make sure you exfoliate well and have your skin prepped in advance, I personally like to start prepping my skin 2 weeks in advance but that’s is just personal preference.

Definitely not necessary. Now, I’m pasty pale, like I “glow” when the moonlight shine so on me at night okay lol and I started last week using the St. Topez gradual tan tinted lotion, I did 3 full body applications total, 1every other day.

I honestly expected quite a bit more of a tan, and for it to be buildable. That didn’t happen so this morning I tried my first application of this. I left it on for 6 hours, I really thought there would be a noticeable difference but I couldn’t really tell, so I rinsed off real quick and dried and applied a second full body application using quite a bit heavier of an application, I’ve had it on for 3 hours now and I’m going to sleep in it and try another application tomorrow morning.

My man came home from work and didn’t even say anything, that’s how unnoticeable this is. To say I’m disappointed is putting it lightly, for how much this costs I expected to be a bronzed goddess. I gave this three stars, if you are pale and looking for a good light tan to be slightly less blinding in your swimsuit on the beach, or it’s the beginning of summer and you don’t want to blind people with your legs (pale girl struggles lol) and you don’t want a drastic dark tan then this is for you.

It has a strong fragrance to it, but not bad. No orange tone either! Just not what I was looking for.

I’ve tried a TON of self tanning products. None of them are good. I always notice streaks, orange hues, the way it stains elbows/knees/inbetween fingers, the weird self-tanner smell etc. I love the sun-kissed tan look I naturally achieve in the summer from the sun, but I don’t want to cook myself to get it.

so I’m constantly looking for a decent self tanner that actually looks natural. I’m actually quite blown away by this product. The fact it’s water based and a foam made me want to give it a try. I put a little on my forearms just to see what the product was like before actually planning to exfoliate and cover myself completely.

I forgot I had applied it to my forearms the night before, and this morning there’s a definite colour difference! I couldn’t believe how noticeable the 1 time with the small amount I used was! I’m quite light skinned, so darker skinned folk this might not have as great of results.

The colour does look way more natural than all the others I’ve tried. Although maybe still a very, very slight orangey tinge – just don’t go crazy with applications/amount you’re using. Give it overnight to see the results! I’d maybe wait longer than the 4-6 hours it recommends before deciding if you want to do another layer because the small amount I used changed my skin tone noticeably! It smells AMAZING.

That coconut after smell reminds me of the beach and not the fact I’ve covered myself in self tanner. It goes on easily and fully covers well. Other products if you look closely, I could notice the tanner unevenly tanning where each little skin pore/hair follicle was making those spots a darker orangey hue – not with this one! It’s an even, full cover! I’m planning to do my legs/arms/rest of body today so I’m excited to see the results tonight/tomorrow! I haven’t showered yet.

so I can’t say it doesn’t all wash off after showering. I doubt it will though because after noticing my forearm colour from the test application, there’s a “line” of tanner (because I didn’t carefully put it on, so my fault!) but it isn’t washing away easily with soap and water and I’m not seeing colour transfer onto the white washcloth I’m scrubbing with.

Nor is there any colour transfer to my clothing I put on and was touching my arms where I applied it. Other products claimed there would be no colour transfer but I would ALWAYS notice it on my tank tops.

This product seems much better! I can safely say this tanned look should last a least a little while before completely disappearing. So far, I’m impressed! We’ll see how this goes but as of right now.

Been using this for 3 years now…if you feel sticky you are using too much product. I been using self tanners since ‘11 when allure magazine printed an article about skin cancer. Stop tanning bed and tanning outside.

I’m pale of course. so I’m glad I finally found a product that doesn’t stain my clothes, has a light tanning smell, and gives me a nice even tan with no streaks. The only things I don’t give 5 is just sometimes I want to be dark for a vacation and I can’t achieve that since this is a medium color.

L’Oréal please come out with a deep color. That’s it! Every summer I get 3 bottles and found personally applying with hands gives me better results and I use less product. No staining! I get compliments on my tan all the time and I refer to this.

I used to use the sublime glow for in between but sadly they discontinued so need to find something else.

I’ve used this several times now to see if I was the problem lol. Each time I apply it ALL over and wait about 2-4 hours before rinsing off. When it first starts to develop, it’s SO pretty and natural looking.

Over the next day or two it continues to develop even darker into a rich orange color. yikes 🍊. For context, I exfoliate and shower before applying and it STILL fades super quickly on some areas and stays orange on others.

I’m wondering if it’s due to different skin textures. Either way, when it starts to fade in some areas, it leaves a super patchy and streaky look that is just so ugly and noticeable because I’m naturally pale.

I included some photos to show what I’m talking about and honestly it looks even worse in person. It makes me sad, because I really want to love this product because it’s so pretty for the first day you have it on.

I would recommend if you’re using this for a special occasion, please apply it and let it develop the same day so you don’t end up walking around with big orange patches that you literally can’t get rid of for days no matter how hard you scrub your body.

I used to buy a water based tanner from Sally’s that I LOVED, so of course it was discontinued 😩 But this one is even better! Even though you can’t see where you applied it, it distributes so easily and evenly.

Especially if you use a mitt. I was worried it would mist all over my bathroom and make a mess, but it really doesn’t. Yes, it is slightly orange in color. But not terribly. I like it gives me a warm glow.

Like one of those people who eat a LOT of beta-carotene and have a natural orange hue. It says to wash off after 2 hours, but I just leave it on till the next time I shower. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue and you won’t feel it at all.

I exfoliate all over with an exfoliating towel (that I also bought from Ulta, about $7) and shave my legs. Then apply all over and dress in loose clothing. One time I put on tight leggings as a test, went to sleep, and in the morning my feet and ankles were tan but my legs.

not so much, lol! Definitely use this the day BEFORE you need your tan. It’s not fully developed even at the 2 hour/rinse off mark. It lasts for days, fades evenly and looks great. And for the price? I’m in love 🥰 I am 44, do not have dry or sensitive skin.

I have only tried self-tanners a few times, over the course of many years, so I don’t have a lot of experience, but I like this product a lot! A few things: * I’m fairly pale (pale enough that people sometimes comment, “Wow, you’re pale!”), so I initially bought the “Light” option.

However, that didn’t seem to give much color development, so I then purchased the “Medium,” which gave a much deeper color after one application. Unless you’re very, very pale, or only want a very light, nearly imperceptible tan, go for the Medium or Dark * I bought a tanning mitt (I got a Jergens tanning mitt, also at Target) to use with this product, and I did feel that the tanning mitt helped smooth the product over my skin better than just my hands would have.

Also, I then didn’t worry so much about product settling into crevices or the cuticles on my hand, causing potential discoloration * I smoothed this product all over my arms, when in retrospect it might have looked a little more natural to try to keep it on the top parts of my arms (I don’t normally get tan from the sun on the undersides of my forearms) The best parts: * A pleasant, not strong smell * It doesn’t seem to have any dyes in it, and it hasn’t stained my sheets or clothes I would recommend this product!.

I hardly ever write reviews, which I know I should since I rely heavily on reviews when online shopping… but felt compelled to leave a comment because of two reviews I read here. One comment mentions that this tanner “washed away” when it comes in contact with water, and another mentions the “green tint” they got.

These are not product flaws, that’s literally what it’s supposed to do. There is a purposeful tint that acts as a GUIDE for application. It’s SUPPOSED to be slightly greenish and it’s SUPPOSED to wash off lol.

The guide helps you see where you’ve applied the tanner so you don’t miss a spot or don’t blend somewhere. The color develops over 8 hours (when it shouldn’t get wet), then you rinse or wash the guide color off.

Very simple instructions on the bottle that explain that. That being said, St. Tropez is among the best self tanners available. I’ve been using it for years and years and it’s still my favorite. I’m pale with red hair and blue eyes and burn very easily, so I layer on the sunscreen, but I hate being pale/basically translucent.

So I use St Tropez year round. One application every 3 weeks or so in the winter, and every 1-2 weeks in the summer (depending on how dark I want to be) helps me easily maintain a natural looking tan that’s long lasting.

I honestly might buy two of these jumbo bottles. I’ve only ever seen this side during the anniversary say and it’s a fantastic value. One bottle should last me the rest of the summer and the other hurtle for fall-spring.

Usually I buy a new bottle every couple of months! A small price to pay for being able to look and feel my best without the risks of sun exposure!.

I’m liking this for quite a few reasons. It’s easy to apply – much easier than the lotion and dries pretty quickly (less than 2 minutes on my skin). Not pricey, maybe a bit more than other tanning lotions and products but it’s definitely worth paying that small amount extra as when comparing it to other brands; this product has the least streaking and most natural looking color, not orange, just a nice golden hue.

Bonus: there is no funny smell left on your skin once you have washed it off. I find one full bottle lasts me for approximately 6 full body applications which makes it more than worth it for me. It is very much on the ‘chemical’ side which is the only reason I haven’t given it a full 5 stars, but if you’re not overly concerned about that kind of thing then definitely give this a try.

The ‘Classic’ shade is the perfect color for light/fairer folks! Most tanners come out super orange on me, this one is the least orangey I’ve come across. Even better than when I tried a full spray tan.

You MUST use a mitt, it’s the best hack ever for a smooth application and I wish I would have known about them years ago! Would have saved me from many streaks and dyed palms. It also allows you to get a clean line along/under the jaw, which creates a natural looking contour since I don’t use the tanner on my face.

I prefer a foam to an over-time lotiony type, so this is perfect for me. It darkens a bit over time, but since its mostly instant you can see any unevenness as you are applying. Exfoliate/shave a day or two before.

Pile on lotion to elbows, knees, ankles right before applying. Foam goes on decently non-sticky. Buff buff buff with the mitt, circular motions going with the grain of any body hair. If you do get any spots on the fingers/toes, wipe with some nail polish remover right away and that should take any color off.

Color lasts at least a week+ if you are careful to not exfoliate much.

I’ve been using this tan for 10+ years – I can’t live without it! The original formula was the best but I’ve got used to the newer one. It glides on easily with a mitt, takes a bit of time to dry (I do my make-up in the meantime) & lasts all day.

It’s not waterproof but comes off easily with soap & water. It would last 2 days if you didn’t shower but it does come off on bedsheets. I treat it like body make-up & wear it daily before washing off at night! I use it in the winter on my hands & neck to match my face and then all summer to deepen any natural tan I’ve caught.

My favourite way to use is a light layer on top of developed overnight tan after I’ve rinsed it off, to make it look more even & give it that final glow. I feel naked without it & it’s as essential to my routine as getting dressed.

Try to stock up when it’s on offer!.

I used this for years and thought it was great as an instant tan. Not sure if they have changed it but now it’s really hard to apply. It stains quickly so even though I try to apply it fast it’s already patchy.

If you mix it with moisturiser it clogs in lumps. It also washes off so easily so if you get a small splash on your leg or just try to remove a bit where it is darker it goes sooo patchy. I can not get this to look nice, no matter what I try.

The tan itself works just fine, for an instant wash off tan it’s not too bad. It does the job. I have learned that it’s best to apply it as a moisturiser, without a mit just with bare hands but that obviously means I have to wash my hands after applying it to one part of my body at a time so I can avoid having hands darker than the rest of my body.

If you do it with a mit it will turn out streaky af! It’s also quite sticky, I always feel like it’s never really dry. But overall, it looks nice and once you have a couple of cocktails in you, you can’t feel the stickiness.

Overall, my bedsheets aren’t stained and it washes off very well although it does transfer on light coloured clothes (of course).

This is a very natural-looking tan that is excellent for fair skin or for starting your tan at the beginning of shorts weather. I used to use Million Dollar Tan for fair skin but I felt that it took many applications to get the level of tan I wanted.

This tan looks perfect after 2 applications. Get the mitt that goes with this; it’s the best quality mitt on the market. My only wish is that this had a tint on application so that I could see where I’ve put it.

Definitely don’t forget to moisturize knees, ankles and elbows before applying. St. Tropez recommends exfoliating the night before. This is definitely a foam that you want to apply at night or several hours before washing it off.

It has that sticky feeling that all foams have. It doesn’t have an overpowering smell, but it’s not odorless. This is my favorite self tanner.

I’ve tried even tanner on the market, and most Saint Tropez products, and this one by far is one of the best. One of my biggest problems is the dreadful self tan hands/feet. I am fully Irish, so most tanners fade pretty awkwardly on me.

Even with loads of exfoliation & their eraser mitt (which is amazing as well), my skin color contrasts too much with most tans when it eventually fades, making me look very patchy only after a couple of days.

However, this one is so natural looking, that I can wait the recommended time till reapplication. It’s clear & lightweight, and leaves my skin glowing. The color is light, but more so a natural warm undertone.

If you want a dark tan, I would go with the original/luxe one by Saint Tropez, and use this one as a topper for a nice glow. But if you’re looking for a “your skin but better” tanner, this is for you.

I have been self tanning for years now. I used to like the super dark look but as I get older the more I desire a more natural look. I also don’t like to dabble too much when it comes to skin care products because I have sensitive skin.

After just one application of this product I am hooked. It is so beautiful and natural looking. The product feels lightweight on my skin and doesn’t smell nearly as strong as other tanners that I have used.

It also doesn’t clog my pores which is a huge game changer. I did apply too much to my hands and they turned out darker and more orange which isn’t cute. But this is an application problem, not a product problem.

Before I rave about this, let me just say that totally get where the negative reviews are coming from. It’s definitely not the easiest formula to get a perfect & even tan – AT FIRST. I truly believe that once you get the hang of it this is the best self tanner on the market for maintaining an everyday tan.

e. st tropez self tan express mousse) feel almost unbearable. Like a, “why am I doing this to myself” feeling. They feel so thick and greasy in comparison. I would never put the self tan express product on and then go somewhere – but, sometimes you’re in a pinch and have to and I think this is the only product you could do that with and not be so hyper aware of it on your body.

All in all, while I wouldn’t recommend this for a one-night-only type of an event (like, in lieu of a spray tan), I fully believe that this is the best, most low-maintenance product to use for an everyday tan.

All you need to do is take your time applying and the rest is easy.

I’ve been self and spray tanning for a long time, and I’m an extremely fair strawberry blonde (think NARS Oslo or Mac W1). I love the face mist version of this product, it creates a beautiful, even, medium tan on my face and neck that doesn’t break me out and isn’t patchy.

This product is one I want to work so bad-the gel formulation is really moisturizing and the included fragrance is lovely, fruity and tropical. Mind that the actual tanner, DHA, will ALWAYS leave the tell-tale self tan smell, which this does after 8 hours of developing.

The color itself is beautiful, not orange at all. I don’t like the Tanologist clear mousse for reference because it’s too orange of a tone for very fair skin. However, this product develops very unevenly with streaks and areas of no color development.

I use the St. Tropez mitt to apply, but it’s still a very intensive process to ensure even coverage because it is clear. Even with good blending and tanning from bottom to top it gets fairly streaky.

My tips for making this product work because when it looks good it looks GREAT: 1. Start with very dry skin. Don’t do this the same evening you shower. 2. Do this before bed. I suspect it rubbing off on clothes/with sweat worsens development.

3. It needs 8 hours to develop before you can shower, even though you will start seeing color at 3 hours. This is printed on the bottle. Also a good reason to do it before bed and just let it sit. Washing your hands, showering, etc, disturbs it.

I probably will not repurchase this product. I do love the St. Tropez Self Tan Express in the blue bottle, and the original mousse, both of which have color guides so you can see how the product has blended and where missed patches are.

I’m extremely pale skinned and this stuff is a dream come true. A lot of the negative reviews seem to be from people without pale skin who are looking for a much darker tan. I’ve tried a lot of other self tanner and had problems with it looking orange, not building well, or being very streaky.

This stuff looks great after ONE use and isn’t streaky at all. If you didn’t cover a spot as well as the rest, it really just looks like a weird tan line rather than streaky self tanner. I’ve used with without exfoliating and it works just the same.

I do put regular lotion on my elbows, wrists, ankles, knees, and shin bones first. It has a good smell at first but then definitely fades to a normal self tanner smell. It doesn’t bother me though since the result is so perfect.

An excellent product to get a quick fix for your somehow worn-out, uneven, spotted, or in some other way out-dated tan, before you actually have the time to scrub it out and apply a totally new and glamorous one.

The tan is a bit yellowish, however I like the gentle shade and it does its job and gets you out of trouble. Also I love that the guide color wont leave stains, so youre just good to go immediately. The smell is very pleasant, so is the texture.

It dries quite fast. However, on the other hand, it doesnt seem to last that long – you go to the showed and it seems like most of it is gone. Also even if you let it be there 3 hrs or more, the shade will never get as dark as promised.

However, this is a casual everyday saver (we all know how much trouble and the amount of work can a lifestyle of self tanners cause a person) from different kinds of uncomfy situations, while you get to enjoy the wonderful scent and the golden glow with the immediately-absorbing guide color on the top.

It spreads out very effortlessly and evenly (just like every other product in the series) and is honestly very pleasant to use.

I rarely go without self tanner nowadays, so I had to pull from the archives to get a before photo. But! This is undoubtably the BEST affordable self tanner on the market. Though I am now a whiz at self tanning, this was the product I used for my very first attempt so please know that I am writing from a beginner and veteran’s standpoint.

It is user-friendly, blends well, and (most importantly) does not pull orange! The finish is a gorgeous olive tone that cannot be achieved with other more expensive brands. I tried venturing into “higher end” self tanning as I got more comfortable, but I come back to St.

Moriz every time. And for reference, I typically let it sit for about 5 hours before washing off and ALWAYS exfoliate before. I also always apply moisturizer to drier areas like my elbows, knees, and ankles beforehand to avoid dark spots.

I am a Loving Tan kind of gal, but I decided to go with something cheaper. I am pleasantly surprised. This is a streak free, glow giving product. It doesn’t go as dark as loving tan, which is why I give it a 4, but it’s not orange either.

It’s something I could safely put on for an event where as a darker shade is harder to perfect. The shade before you rinse is darker than what you’re left with, but it did change my foundation shade a couple of shades darker.

I didn’t notice any patches that it sticks to. I would recommend applying it during the day because it is easily moved around when processing if you sweat or get wet (I also notice if I process while I’m sleeping I tend to get marks where my legs or arms crossed).

When processing it didn’t come off onto my clothes, didn’t have a strong scent, and didn’t give that processing kind of look (iykyk). Not bad for the price. Make sure to read the directions before applying too bc it had a couple of differences than other tanners I’ve used.

I’m really happy with my purchase of this rapid tanner! No orange tint and it’s very fast drying! You do have to be careful to apply it very careful and to the point of preciseness:)be sure and apply it to the ankles and other areas cautiously! Very happy with it compared to so many others!!!.

I normally love norvell products, but this rapid tanning moose, eh, not so much. I put Loving Tan and tan Tanceuticsls far above this product. It goes on nicely with a little bit of color to guide you, but I still feel like I have a yellowish tint after I shower.

Easy to use and nice shade, no orange. So far I really like this self tanner. Quick drying and no weird orange tint to it. Like any self tanner, be sure to cover your skin entirely in the mousse or you’ll end up having lines.

I like this self tanning lotion and have purchased it twice. It has a nice color when applying so that you have instant bronze colir and can see any streaks or areas you need to blend better. I don’t like the smell of the lotion but the smell doesn’t last.

I didn’t use it my face since I have face drops. The lotion isn’t sticky or tacky and it didn’t transfer on anything.

I never write reviews but this product was so worth it! I’m EXTREMELY pale, I’m convinced I have no melonin in my skin at all, I cant tan in the sun or beds. This product was a miracle for an upcoming wedding.

Not orange, not streaky. Some spots may be a little brassy at first but washes off in the shower leaving a nice golden hue. First I exfoliated and shaved, waited an hour for my pores to close and then applied the lotion as directed in circular motions with the gloves on.

My skin is on the dryer side, and I have “strawberry dots” on my upper legs so I was worried this wouldnt work like many other products but it DID! I’m so happy. The smell at first is strong but over night it goes away! I only did my first coat in the PM as recommended and I still love the color already.

I will be applying my second coat tonight. Definitely make sure to apply lotion on your feet, that’s the only place it came out a little weird but its fixable. Product is a little oily at first but your skin soaks it up.

10/10 I would recommend to anyone who has trouble tanning and is really pale and afraid to use self tanners.

After reading reviews that were so good and watching a couple youtube videos, I now realize either 1. the people reviewing this item must have been getting some kind or kickback or 2. my product was defective.

It did not have a good fragrance AT ALL! It was difficult to apply and wait to dry. And, it did not turn into very much of a tan after 24 hours. I have tried so many other good products and was hoping this one would be better.

My go to at Sally’s is the Tanwise Water Foam Self Tanner.

I was super excited to try when I got this product. I’ve used it a total of 4 times, I like the color however after only using it 4 times my skin started to react to the product. I broke out in hives.

I became super itchy, it started on my legs, continued up my belly and then to my arms. I liked the “tan look” but it came off in the areas where I had intense itching. I have small scabs on my legs from itching so bad, I had to use hydrocortisone cream to help relieve the itching.

I have been using self tanner for years and have tried many different brands in the process. I gave this product a try because I was looking for a less toxic alternative and was one of the only products I could find that fit those standards.

After a few uses, I can say that would still choose this product over other brands that do use more toxic ingredients. I am very pale so I usually have the problem of looking to “orange” after using self tanner.

This product gives a very natural look and really doesn’t look fake. Since you have to leave it on for a few hours before washing off, I put it on before going to bed and my white sheets are not stained! It lasts for a handful of days, isn’t streaky and a little product goes a long way.

The biggest downside is the smell, which isn’t amazing. But the pros absolutely outweigh the cons and I would recommend this product in a heartbeat.

I applied it twice and got a beautiful and natural looking tan. I had been afraid to try it because I’m naturally lighter skinned and was afraid it would streaK and look orange. It ended up looking how I look when I get that nice golden tan from the beach! I had people asking if I had been at the beach and giving me compliments on my golden glow.

I highly recommend it. It blends in so easily and smells like coconuts, not chemicals. I’m going to apply a new layer today to keep the healthy looking glow that I’ve so been missing since I haven’t been able to travel much this year.

I’m a bit confused that this tan has no reviews, I used it for the first time last year after getting board of bondi sands quick fade. First the smell was amazing, it was easy to see whered I had put it and it dried quickly.

I slept in it over night, it wasn’t sticky at all which is something I learned to live with with other tans, I woke up with a glorious tan the watermelon scent had faded and the fake tan smell was there but only until I rinsed off.

I only tan in summer as I’m a jumper lover in winter but I’ve been pining for this tan since I ran out last November. No stress or streaks. I’ve a lot of brands Inc bondi sands, he-she, skinny tan but this is the only one that’s left me satisfied so far.

Its summer and I’m back for more lol.

As a dedicated self-tanning expert, I highly recommend this product. I have always enjoyed the dry down time and colour of the original St. Tropez products, but I have always found the smell too pungent for me so I avoided using it often.

However the new watermelon scent of the St. Tropez mousse is so clean and light – it’s lovely. I am so excited to be able to enjoy this mousse with this new refreshing scent. St. Tropez is an excellent self tanning product if you are looking for a natural, long lasting tan which does not stay too sticky while drying.

I absolutely love this fake tan, the smell is great. I’ve used this for over 2 years and will not buy any others. It’s worth the money m, every penny. I like to put this on in the mornings, let it dry for 1/2 an hour.

The colour is instant which I love. 100% recommend.

This bronzer is fantastic! I am a Red-headed, blue-eyed, fair-skinned girl and I love a good bronzer in the summer, but that’s a tough order to fill. It’s either too light, too orange, too stinky or it comes off easily.

St. Moriz has just become my favorite! I got several compliments on how good it looked. It has a hint of shimmer in it too, so it’s beautiful at night. There was just enough color and I loved how it made me feel! I got stuck in a total downpour and I worried that it would be all streaky, but I was able to rub it and blend it back in.

You couldn’t even tell! I may need to buy BUCKETS of this stuff to last me forever!.

I have used a few bottles of this. It applies nicely and has a good amount of time to work with (it doesn’t set in place instantly so it can be blended nicely). It stays in place and doesn’t transfer much – however avoid rain at all costs, as with all instant tanners once you get a raindrop on it the tan is gone in that spot (although it can easily be touched up without adding that ‘layer’ on top as it blends in well).

I would recommend this to anyone, it’s cheap, works well, doesn’t transfer too much and an overall great product.

I hate how every other tanning lotion, moose, spray whatever takes hours for it to appear! I’m usually not planning on wearing a short dress or shorts until it’s about time to head out the door (I do my hair and make up then get dressed) so putting on a tan right before I leave the house is awesome! Also it going on full color also allows you to see exactly where you put it and let’s you rub in any streaks you may have left.

No matter what brand the four hour appear tanners always have streaks because I can’t see where I put it or put to much! Love love love! Side note I’m a red head with pretty pale skin :).

I have both light/medium and medium/dark to use depending on the season. They both deposit great color on my light/medium-olive complexion. Without a real tan in the colder months, my skin is pale but yellow and I look “sick”.

I use the lighter bottle to brighten and deepen the color of my skin and it does a great job. Blends very easily, does not look textured, there is plenty of brown in the color to not look orange. And zero sparkle or glitter like so many do! I tan very easily and use the medium/dark for summer to add a deeper color to my tan and richen it.

Especially if I done feel the natural tan I have is totally even. Looks gorgeous and natural and excellent for special occasions. I let it dry completely once I’ve applied it to avoid rubbing onto clothes and my sheets, couch, etc and haven’t had any awkward stains or mishaps.

Though, admittedly, I have used it while in a rush to get somewhere and still have not had it rub off of me. It doesn’t smell either which is great and it is pretty moisturizing as well. I think one bottle lasts me roughly 30 uses.

I am fair-skinned and have been using self-tanners for about 5 years now. I’ve tried many different brands and have never been really satisfied. They usually have a smell, and let’s be honest, none of them smell great.

I usually like them at first, but then when they start to fade and you re-apply, that’s when you see how they really perform – subsequent applications NEVER look as good as the initial one. Also, fake tans are a lot more noticeably fake when you are out in real sunlight than they are when you’re indoors.

And recently I learned that self-tanners contain chemicals that aren’t very good for you, even if they say they’re all natural – people, do your research before you start splotching any old thing on your body.

I switched to St. Tropez One Night Only because it doesn’t rely on a chemical reaction taking place to achieve a tanned glow. You just slather it on, and you can see immediately if you missed a spot or applied unevenly, and you can fix it right away.

Simple, simple, simple. Yes, it only lasts a day or two (2 for me). But it really doesn’t wash off with just water (you have to lather up with soap to wash it off – and it really does come right off – of your hands too).

It doesn’t even come off with sweat. It looks like a real tan, if there’s an odor, it’s very faint and not at all unpleasant, and it does not streak. I used to use a mitt to get it right, but now I don’t even use that anymore, it’s that foolproof.

Enough said.

The Med/Dark used to be a perfect color – absolutely no orange, just rich brown. It was so not orange that it was ideal for toning self tanner to the perfect shade. It was also darker. I’m light skinned and this new version is barely dark enough to give a tanned look.

It’s chalky and the color of an obviously fake (light) tan. Disappointing, especially since products this color are a dime a dozen. I have warm toned skin (and orange clothing is very flattering on me) but my tan looks nothing like this and I don’t know anyone whose does.

BTW, the original formula, back when there was only 1 shade, was also far better than this. It had a beautiful subtle shimmer, was darker and less orange. I don’t even like shimmer, but it had just enough to keep the color from looking flat and chalky.

Today’s review is about the Brand Fake Bake, They make self tanning products and a little bit of makeup. Their products are sold on their website, and at Ulta Beauty. I’m a semi-begginer when it comes to applying Self Tanner, I wasn’t always a self tanner user.

I actually started out tanning at Tanning Salons as a teenager. Then I learned that tanning in general wasn’t a good idea and all of the potential dangerous risk and problems you could get while tanning.

I had just started to learn how to establish and start a skincare routine, and wanted to try to preserve my skin but age as well. I’m starting to sound like I’m in that Movie, called “Death Becomes Her!” “No, I don’t need the spray can yet!”And I still haven’t found that Special Potion to take 20 years off your life.

If you do? Let me know! It would be nice if we didn’t age, I think about that all the time. You get older, You start to worry about cancer, wrinkles and UV damage. About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with Pre-cancer of the Vulva meaning that I had precancerous cells that needed to be lasered off.

Every 6 months to a year, I have to come back to my OB to be rechecked. As far as nerves and anxiety goes, It doesn’t get better for me. I just pray and hope for the best outcome. Before I dabbled into the Self Tanner, I did my research on what Brands sold self tanners.

Also what self tanners had the best reviews and ones that just didn’t make the cut. Not only that but you just don’t slap self tanner on and be good to go. It’s so much more, There’s actually steps. You are supposed to exfoliate the day before you apply the self tanner.

You can purchase any kind of body exfoliater, It could be a scrub too. What I have been enjoying is using the First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser with 10% AHA, $28. 00 at Ulta Beauty, Sephora or First Aid Beauty website.

Use this during your shower process, make sure you shave and then go in with a moisterizer and apply all over the body. The next day, apply some lotion on your knees, elbows and dry spots, Let it dry.

Then go in with your self tanner, Use a tanning mit. This self tanner actually comes with a Tanning Mit, which makes the experience better. Apply the tanner in a circular motion, Start with your legs.

Even thou I’m trying to explain to you how to apply your self tanner, Go search a YouTube video on how to apply. What I loved about this tanner is it has a nice scent, It has a pump, Has nice brown color, No orange or red color, Streak-free, A little goes a long ways, It doesn’t have a color guard, You just need to remember where you applied it, Just pretend you’re applying lotion on your body, Self Tanner drys pretty quickly, Use a box fan if you want it to dry better.

Overall very happy with the product, $30. 00 / 6. 7 ozs.

This product works well if you know how to use it. The first time I tried it, I made the mistake of leaving part of my body damp, as most self-tanner state to use damp skin (and the instructions didn’t say if skin should be damp or dry).

With this foam, however, you need to be freshly showered, exfoliated and 100% DRY. Everywhere I was dry, the tan turned out perfectly! No lines, smears or streaks-however, a single drop of water on my leg that somehow got missed, created a huge streak.

The package also states that you can dress immediately and I found this to not be true. It will rub off and not tan your skin if you dress too quickly. I waited about 5 minutes until I got dressed and it removed some of the tan.

I found that 15 seems like the magic number to keep it off your clothes. Also, the Mitt is KEY. I had to apply a small amount with my hand because I had recently had an accident with a sharp garden tool and couldn’t apply it with the mit near the area.

Applying it without the mitt caused the tan to be darker and uneven. The only thing I’d warn buyers about is that while it says it uses DHEA to tan, it also uses skin dye, so just like a regular self-tanner, it will come off if rubbed too hard (say, a bodycon bandage dress pulled off or on).

It also contains a coconut based chemical, so if you’re allergic to coconut, you may want to use the original fake bake instead. Best Results: -Dry, freshly cleaned Skin (No soaps with oils, parabens etc because it affects the absorption of the tan) -Use the Mitt and ONLY the mitt -Wait at least 15 minutes after applying to dress, no matter what the box says.

As a pale blonde from the North, it’s hard to get a bronze glow without the damage of a tanning bed or too much sun exposure, then comes tanning water! Listen, I feel like I have tried just about everything out there from lotions to foams to sprays and this is my go-to.

Pros: – Smell: it has a light coconut fragrance that is unlike the horrendous scent of most other sunless tanners. It’s still not awesome but way better than most. – Gradual color build: I’m a big fan of buildable color and this product is great to use several days in a row.

– YOU DON’T HAVE TO WASH IT OFF! Holy smokes, it’s safe to put on your skin and just leave there without fear of turning in to an Umpa Lumpa. Cons: – Goes on clear so no color guide. Just give your body a real good once-over to ensure no missed spots.

I seems to always forget the underside of my forearms. – Dampness: I usually have to wait AT LEAST 15 minutes before dressing. It takes a bit to try and not feel so tacky. I feel a little sticky afterwards no matter what, but whatever.

– Slight transfer with abrasive rubbing. I mostly notice it on the top of my sneakers at CrossFit, or it is wear a snug outfit.

I bought this product for the advertised watermelon scent, and while lightly scented it’s definitely the best smelling self tanner I’ve ever used. I usually go for the express mousse because I hate the sticky feeling of most tanners and the smell gives me a headache.

I had no issues sleeping in this, but I did put down dark sheets just in case of transfer. I’m glad I did, as even once I rinsed the guide off the next morning the tan still wound up transferring onto my clothes.

The stains came off in the wash so I wasn’t too pressed. Especially since come nightfall I had a beautiful DARK tan!! I was seriously impressed with the color payoff, I got much darker than I do with other tanners marketed as “dark”.

Looks natural to boot with no streaks or spots. Sadly, when it came time for a shower on just day three, most of the color washed right off and I was left with a splotchy, heavily faded tan. For such an expensive product, I would expect it to stand up to more than one or two washes.

Especially since it’s marketed as a 10 day color. Not sure it’s worth having to reapply every three days at that price 🙁 Expected more from the ST. TROPEZ brand.

I am not a self tan user normally but I wanted to add to my existing summer color for the birth of my baby in a week. This formula had great reviews so I took the plunge and got it. I was super nervous about it because I didn’t want to end up orange or have it uneven from sleeping in it.

I used a sugar scrub, shaved and lightly lotioned up my feet/ankles, elbows, and hands. It went on very easily with the mitt, no streaks and I didn’t even need help despite being 39 weeks pregnant. I am super new to this and nervous about transfer/blotchiness so I stood around naked for like 40 minutes to let it dry but honestly it was dry after maybe 15.

I went to bed and left it on for 9 hours then showered with just very warm water this morning. It seemed like the water coming off of me had a weird greenish/brown tint to it so I was worried it was all for nought but once I patted myself dry I noticed how good it looks! It is noticeable but natural and looked even better once I lotioned up.

I can’t speak on the longevity or how it fades but I love how it looks. The smell is also subtle and I didn’t notice transfer, even with sleeping nude with white silk pillow cases and beige sheets. I’m going to continue using this as needed so I can have a glow once my baby gets here.

People in my water aerobics class even told me I was glowing which made me feel nice and less like Danny Devito.

This product works so well! First off it smells amazing and never loses its watermelon scent which I love because I hate the smell of self tanner! The mit is nice and helps the product glide on easily.

It does not leave streaks or splotches. Its very even all over and leaves a natural tan so NO orange!! I love this product and definitely recommend.
