20 Best Wax For Scratches (2022 Updated)

Carnauba car wax is the best of all the car waxes I have used over the last 60 years. I have tried just about every car wax made since 1962. This wax is easiest to apply and wipe down. It last up to a year.

Others make that claim but only last about 3 to 6 months at best. This wax makes removal of road tar and tree sap EASY! Just pour hot water over it and the tar and tree sap runs off. Tar & Tree Sap will not adhere to Carnauba Wax.

Next, rinse car with cold water and let dry of buff lightly with a micro fiber cloth. Hot water applied to Carnauba wax actually makes it harder & more resistant to the elements. When your car gets dirty just rinse car off and wipe down.

And, it won’t spot even if you don’t wipe it down. No need to use car soap to wash the car. The dirt does not adhere to the Carnauba wax.

Went on fine. Came off easy. Looked good until after the very first rain. Some beading. The next rain: Nothing. What happened? Good price, but apparently you get what you pay for.

After seeing reviews on YouTube I thought I would try. Amazing product. Even took a major scratch on in laws Cadillac and made it almost invisible with a polishing pad! Should last awhile but have used on 2 newer cars and best stuff I’ve tried and I have it all.

This purple polish and wax works remarkably well! It brings amazing depth and shine to dark colour paint. Im sure it works equally well for light colours as well. Worth the money!!!

I tried rubbing the scratches on my truck (metallic blue) and product did not remove them. It does remove dirt and grit nicely. Good for polishing. Had to take truck to professional car detailer to remove scratches.

What I like is how easy and quick this works for removing light scuffs and those finger nail lines behind the door handles that show up on light color vehicles. I have also used this on garden solar panel lights.

Comes in a nice squeeze bottle which I prefer a lot more than the plastic jar.

Used to blend small areas of touched up paint on my Toyota Tacomoa. Just right grit and easy to use. After a little work you have to look very closely to find the touched up areas.

The car got keyed but fortunately not too deep. Could only just feel it with fingernail and it appeared white. Thought I’d try this as a previous review sounded positive. It took quite a number of applications – I used a small amount each time and spread the applications over a couple of days.

I wasn’t expecting perfection but I can honestly say I don’t notice now where the scratch was. Once fixed I then did the whole panel. I have dark metallic grey so chose this colour. Maybe other polishes would work as well but very happy with the result.

The product has far exceeded my expectations. I used a colour polish product 10 years ago on the same car which already had 10 year old sun beaten paintwork, and it didn’t lift the paint to the level it’s at now! This was a nothing to lose shot, in doing a full paint correction, and using some elbow grease, before deciding on repainting.

I thought I’d give this a try, as previous colour restore products had disappointed, this was the right choice all day. I’ll certainly be contacting the manufacturer in due course.

Bought this a while ago in green for my wife’s car, so impressed I bought it in red for my car. Easy to use. What a shine. Brilliant. Enjoy washing and polishing my cars even more now.

Amazing product! I’ll never buy another brand again, I’m building a bobber motorcycle and I painted it black with spray paint and then wet sanded it and polished at the auto parts store at eye level on the shelf were the usual Maguire’s, Griots Garage, chemical Guys butter wax, and I tried all 3 and the paint looked good for a backyard job after polish then I was back in the same store and noticed on a lower shelf the hybrid solutions and then I read it was pigmented black hmmm I’ll try it, wow!! It turned my backyard paint job from good to unbelievable!! It looks like a high end $1,000 paint job like you could stick your hand right into the wet paint, it’ll be a very sad day when I’m at the last drop.

Whilst it seems somewhat expensive, a little bit of this polish goes a long way, so it offers good value. I used it on paint that’s in fair to good condition and only applied it by hand. Despite this, the product showed some corrective effect (removed minor swirls and blemishes), and this finished shine is ridiculous.

I’ll be interested to see how long the shine lasts after a few washes and the car spending all day, every day in the Qld sun. At the moment, I’m very happy with the product due to its ease of use and the finish it provided.

The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is because, in my opinion, you really should use a powered buffer with it. I didn’t and it does take a bit of elbow grease to remove. and I have too bad of shoulders to apply that much manual pressure.

Other than that it is outstanding!!! My car is black granite metallic and it really brings out the sparkle. Makes the surface smooth and slick. I’m going to finish my car this week once I get an actual orbital buffer to do it.

I’m sure that’s going to make it even glossier!!!! I also bought the spray, so once I finish with the polish/buff, I may go over it with the spray as others say they do. I always used the Turtle Wax Black products on my car before, this is even better!!!! Love it!.

I did a lot of research about fixing the light scratches on my car trunk before purchasing this product. I have mixed reviews about it. It’s a 3-step process. 1) Sand down the scratches with the provided sander pad and water mist.

This was really labor intensive. I ended up attaching the sand pad to a drill to make this part go faster. Still, I probably spent over an hour doing this. You have to be slow, methodical, and careful about it.

You need to sand out the scratch, but not get into the paint layer. I was disappointed that the kit only came with one small sander pad. Definitely needed another, if not 3 of them. 2) Buff with compound.

My main complaint with this step was that the compound comes in a packet (like you’d get for salad dressing), so there’s no way to seal the unused portion. Also, it’s a bit messy when your using the drill buffer, even if you spread it before you start spinning the drill.

I had a lot of cleanup to do afterwards. Otherwise, it seemed to work fine. 3) Buff with polish layer. Exact same complaints here. No way to seal unused portion. Makes a bit of a mess. It did restore the shine, which I was a bit worried about after the step 1 sanding.

Overall, it mostly worked. The shallow scratches are gone. Shine is back. The deeper scratches are still visible, although less visible than before. Perhaps if I was braver, I would have sanded the larger scratches down more.

Or maybe if I had more than the single tiny sander that felt like it ran out of steam before I had attacked all of the trunk scratches. Not sure it was worth the money and effort though. Perhaps I was over ambitious looking for a magic bullet solution.

Driving on the freeway a truck in the lane right to me hit something, like a piece of tire or plastic or some sort of other car part debris. The truck’s rear wheels threw the piece up to the left and smacked it to the right side of my car.

Scratched the right rear fender (metal) for about 5 inches with black paint transfer (my car is white pearl). This thing took it out. Period. Followed the instructions, sanded it with the provided pad, then polished then buffed.

Looks like new. I became so excited that I went around the car checking for all kind of scratches just to fix them. Well worth it. You must have a drill or a drill driver and you must know how to handle it because it wiggles.

I used a RYOBI One+ P208 and it worked fine.

I have been detailing cars for years and was excited to use D166 as I continually try to embrace time saving techniques and products, and I initially wasn’t let down by this product. I applied the D166 with a 5″ microfiber cutting pad on a DA polisher, and the product cut very quickly and finished relatively well.

There was very some slight hazing, but that is to be expected with the more aggressive pad and its what you get with most all-in-one products. With that said, the polish is very workable and only needed about two passes to get the correction I needed.

Very easy to wipe off, and left great shine and slick surface. So far I would rate it a 5 star product. But I have found that the water beading, my proxy for protection that comes along with quality sealants, just doesn’t last.

After 30 days and only one car wash, they is no evidence of protection. Water doesn’t bead and the paint isn’t much easier to clean than unprotected paint. I was really hoping for more than a few weeks of protection with this product.

Considering the lack of protection, I don’t see a place for this product in my home collection. I would rather polish the paint and take the additional step of applying a quality sealant or coating which will last at least 6 months.

But I think it makes a ton of sense for professional detailers who are doing lower cost, high volume paint correction. As I didn’t expect much in terms of protection from my previous experience with all-in-one’s, I give it 4 stars based upon the universe of detailing products.

Its a 5 star product when compared to only other available all-in-one’s.

Meguiars is one of the best in the detailing world. There are some products in the detailing world that out perform them. However, I can and often do revert back to Meguiars because they have such a history of great products, reasonably priced and results are usually GREAT! This is my FAVORITE AIO! Good cut, good shine and more durable than some I have used.

super user friendly and u can do the entire vehicle before removing it if u wish. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS PERIOD!.

Amazing shine from this product. My car is silver so it’s hard to notice great paint or bad paint (lazy mans color I guess). Anyway it has the best shine it’s ever had right now and it is a 13 year old car.

There are other fine products for me to try as well but as far as cleaner/polish waxes, this is my current favorite. Would love to compare it to HD speed and Meguiars 3in1 wax someday.

As I was driving down the freeway surrounded by traffic I saw a bottle of brown fluid fly out of a truck and land right in front of me in an explosive way. It hit and splashed all over the front of my car making a giant mess.

It smelled like an industrial glue or hydraulic fluid but I have no idea what it was. I tried to wash the junk off of my car but it stayed a streaky mess that would not come out. So, I hoped a good cleaner wax would take it out.

I had used Zymol in the past and liked it so I went to buy a bottle but could not find it at any local parts store so I asked the associates at my local O’reilly what they would recommend for my situation and they suggested Meguiar’s.

I found a new favorite in this product as it worked miracles on the task at hand. The streaky mess came out and my car looked better than it had in well over a year. Another advantage I found over other waxes I have used was how easily it comes of plastic trim if you accidentally touch the notorious black trim areas on most vehicles.

By far the best wax I have ever used. I was so pleased with the results I had to call back to the store that night and thank the associates for the great advice.

Ive been using this wax for years as its incredibly easy to apply evenly and comes off with absolute ease. Its leaves a wet look that lasts and the price is excellent. I have tried other products before like mothers California Gold carnauba wax.

The mothers product goes on decently easy but taking it off is an absolute nightmare! Takes tons of elbow grease and just doesnt leave the shine like Meguiars does. Many times with the mothers product you miss spots during your removal process since its not easy to buff off.

Ive used both the liquid and paste form of the Meguiars and both are equally excellent. The paste IMO lasts longer (product wise) but the liquid is easier to deal with (less messy IMO). Unless your willing to spend the $30 plus on the higher end stuff this wax is all you will ever need!.

Not the easiest of products to use. Even after snow foam pre treatment, wash, then clay bar. Polish goes on easy enough but taking it off is time consuming. There are other products out there that are easier to use and achieve the same results.

It does remove light swirls but don’t get your hopes up thinking it’s a fix it in one product. If you have a lot of swirls then you’d probably need to go for paint correction treatment. But overall, it does what it says to a degree but not the easiest to use when compared with other brands.

Not bad but not the best either. Probably priced a little on the high side for what it does.

The instructions on the back of the bottle warn the consumer ‘DO NOT ALLOW PRODUCT TO DRY’. This warning should be taken very seriously. I’m using the product on the car in the garage out of the sun.

The temp is only 13 degrees Celsius. The car is cold as it has been in the garage all night. And still the product dries in seconds. Best to HAND spread polish in a 10 cm square in 5 secs then rub off immediately.

You will notice that some product will remain around the edges or where it may have been applied thinly. Got to go over these with product again then quickly buff. And repeat. And repeat till any of the residual polish is gone.

Thus product may work well but is the hardest polish I’ve ever applied. Try something else. Do not recommend. And definitely do not recommend with DA since I tried thus first and gave up.

After achieving a mirror-like shine from a preceding application of Miguiars Ultimate Compound, I was eagerly anticipating the final super polishing effect that their Ultimate polish would give. Instead, this product clouded up the surface and actually greatly decreased the previously achieved shine while leaving patches of thick gooey product all over the surface.

Whether using a hand-held polishing pad or a random orbital electric auto polisher, the product clumped up and these clumps became near impossible to remove. it literally took hours or polishing to remove this disaster and get the surface back to a normal surface, but still less shiny than what I started with after using their Ultimate Compound.

I would definitely would not recommend this product to anyone.

Red and black gelcoat had some minor oxidation (chalking). Applied this product, and it did remove most chalking. Applied it again to remove the last bit, and that is when this product left an oily residue on my hull which is impossible (for me) to remove.

Film looks as bad as the chalk that I intended to remove in the first place. It appeared like the product “pulled” an oily substance out of my gel — perhaps drying it out and hardening the surface in the process? But that is only a guess on my part.

Support is very professional and well trained. They answer the phone quickly. 3M support advice to remove the oily film; (1. Re-apply. 2. wash with dawn and water. 3. try diluted rubbing alcohol). None of those suggestions remedied the film.

Man, I love my Allison and really wanted to make it gleem. So I am still struggling to find a remedy. 3M Support informed me that customers commonly make two novice mistakes (and of course I made both mistakes): 1.

Applied too much product (only use a small dot on the buffer for a 2’x2′ area). 2. Allowed product to dry before removing (never allow this product to dry to a haze). Support instructed me to read the 3M Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as a remedial correction.

After all, I found SOP to be inadequate to prevent customers from making those two most common mistakes. Overall, 3M Instructions are inadequate. This is surprising given 3M reputation as top tier brand.

For example, the bottle itself does not even have ANY instructions. Finding their SOP page is arduous at best, and I was told to watch the videos! LOL I hope sharing my experience may prevent you from making typical customer mistakes.

Bottom line, if you are not in the business of detailing gelcoat you are better off with a spray on instant wax detailer instead of using this product. Be careful folks.

My red boat was pinkish from oxidation. For the last three years we tried many oxidation removing and shine restore products, and the results were miserable! Usually withing a week the finish was gone and the boat was pink again.

This product really did the job!! It worked best to completely cover the oxidized areas with a thin coat of the 3M Perfect-It compound, then buff it with a polisher. This product actually WORKS!!! We could not be happier!.

I have use this with the perfect it boat wash and finished with colonite wax. It did a fair job and the longevity was acceptable. I am no expert but I think a stand alone polish after the light compound/polish product would make for a better overall job.

I used the recommended wool 3m wool pad for this product at 2500rpms. Any thoughts and advice are welcome. Chris.

Because of high price we debated whether to give it a try. after reading other reviews we decided to give it a go. lovely smell to it. nice packaging but the real answer. did it do the job?. YES DEFINATELY.

We use it on our older but well looked after cars. one a z c ar 16 yrs old. shines and reflects like new. Also on our yellow crossfire, again a brilliant luminous shine. the we tried our olsd landy also yellow but with cellulose paint- brilliant.

thouroghly recommend it.

This is one of my favorite washes for my vehicle. The fragrance of the wash is delightful and honestly one of my favorite features. You need to use 1oz per gallon of water, no more no less. If you use more, your car is left with a greasy looking finish.

This ratio produces just the perfect amount of bubbles needed to scrub your car. Once you rinse, it looks like your car is brand new. Shiny and sparkling! For me, the freshly waxed look lasted for a month or so.

I would reccomend this product to everyone!.

This was my first time trying Armor All for my car. Living in the Northeast we have had our share of snow and ice. The salt that they spread had built up quite a bit on my car. I washed it with Armor All Ultra Shine Wash and Wax and wow.

It is so clean, like showroom clean. Very happy with this product. When adding this to my bucket with water, it mixed in great and a little went a long way. Rinsed off with ease and left no, waxy-sticky residue behind like some of the washes I have used before.

I will definitely continue to buy Armor All for all my vehicles.

My husband used this Armor All Ultra Shine Wash and Wax on our truck and I have to say, I was shocked by how well it really made our truck shine. Normally when a product says it helps with water beading I do not believe it because I have seen so many of them that don’t actually work.

But, hands down, this product works and it works very well with helping the water bead right off, I could not believe it. With this being concentrated, it only takes one ounce of it with every gallon of water, so the bottle will do several washed.

And if you can find a dry shady spot to wash in and your vehicle isn’t hot when washing, it will help in avoiding water spots and helps the beading process work even better.

I bought the Butter Wet Wax for my white car. Used a micro fibre pad to spread a thin coat of the product and then waited a minute before buffing off. You don’t need any elbow grease to take it off, it’s really easy.

You can do the whole car in 15 to 20 minutes. The gloss on my white car was really good but would be amazing on a black car. This stuff will not give long term protection but it doesn’t matter as it’s so easy to put on and off you can use it frequently.

Great for spring/summer but probably use a different product for winter. My uncle tried it and thought it was amazingly easy to use with brilliant results.

A family member backed out of the garage and scraped the rear wheel well of a white X3 BMW. I looked at this for months and finally decided to do something about it, not expecting any success. I used a Festool Rotex 90 tool* with a foam pad, and the results were amazing.

In five minutes the rash was gone completely! I honestly do not know how this was possible, but it worked like a charm, and I was so impressed I am thinking about opening a scratch removal business ;-).

This Turtle Wax Scratch Repair and Renew product restored my faith in automotive products that you see on shelves at the auto parts store and wonder if they are just money sinks. If you have a similar situation with your car, you should give this a try before you take it in for an estimate.

I could eliminate the need for repair or reduce your repair estimate. *you could use a drill with a foam disc attachment or use elbow grease.

Looks like wax out of the bottle. but not so. This has just enough of a fine abrasive to remove scratches caused by sideswiping bendable traffic lane delinerator poles. I used a microfiber cloth by hand vs.

the orbitable buffer. Very little pressure and work required to return to “like new” condition. I am trying it next on black plastic arount the rear hatch, where it looks like chemical spots have affected the buffed finish.

I went to school for automotive collision repair for 4 years learning about painting, repair of totaled cars, and detailing cars till they are new. This stuff is the real deal, but you need to follow the instructions and maybe even look up how to use certain techniques on YouTube for the best options.

Definitely worth the buy if you have the time to do it right. If you don’t… it’ll look like it’s a terrible product. This would be user error not product issues!.

For a while I’ve had a white haze start to appear across the roof above the windscreen and given the cars black finish it has becoming a lot more obvious. I’ve always been concered about damaging the clear coat attempting to restore the finish and tried plenty of other branded products but none have been as effective as this TW Rubbing Compound which I bought today.

It took a bit of elbow grease to get the job done but really did work and the white haze has completely gone, following a polish I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

This product is excellent for in between washes. It gives a beautiful shine like you just got your car detailed. I’ve been using it for 10+ plus years, many cars, and I’m glad they have the product consistent.

Especially love using on my convertible, when I want to wash the car but not the soft top. I don’t think the price has changed much in 10 years either.

I bought an old Chevy Suburban just to move my boat from dry storage at Folsom Lake and launch it and then put the boat back. After owning it for a few years and getting to retire I decided to take it on as a project.

The existing white Chevy paint was shot. So I decided to go for a antique look and just buff that old pain out and Lee and show some metal. I’m really liking how it’s turning out. Very happy with the rubbing compound.

Bought this because I couldn’t find my box o compounds. My van was long overdue for a thorough paint refresh. I used a slightly more aggressive liquid compound on the very oxidized paint, then this, then a cleaning glaze then a few coats of carnuba and my van looks like new.

This compound is very effective for getting the grime and leaving nothing but shine.
