20 Best Wax For Snowboards (2022 Updated)

This is my go to wax. I use it here in the PNW. Never fails me and lasts a couple days on the hill. I’ve used other waxes but none of them performed as well with changing temperature conditions and different snow consistencies.

I’ve noticed some people having issues with it but that was due to improper wax jobs. If you know how to wax your board you won’t have a problem!!.

Great wax lasted a couple of days. Goes on the color green and fades away the more you ride. Was nice to see it get rubbed away know when I needed to wax again. Great wax!

I have used this wax for several seasons now on my boards. If you want something to handle most any conditions, this wax works fine. You will not be the fastest on it, but it lasts well, goes fast enough, and keeps your board smooth and running like a well oiled machine.

It is fairly easy to put on the wax and take it off. Just iron on, let it freeze and then wax off when hardened enough. The wax has kept my boards in good condition, and have lasted up to 5 days, although, 3 days should probably be when you put wax on again.

One thing I do have to say, you should use the warm wax for slushy conditions as that really helps you from getting stuck more than the all temp wax. Slush and dirt during spring is not the most fun if you have the wrong wax on.

Overall, this is a good wax for price for something all riders should use on their boards constantly. If you are looking for faster, higher quality wax, you probably will have to pay a bigger premium for it!.

Picked up this wax after only hot waxing my cross country skis for as long as I’ve skied. I learned how to wax skis from the best, and the coaches I learned waxing technique from have spent years as ski techs for the US olympic team.

I have to say this is quite amazing! It’s very easy to apply and use. I have used it now on about 25k of (skate) skiing over a few days and I’m really surprised that the “all temperature” is really as stated.

I’ve so far used this between 0-34 degrees F, on icy and wet snow, and it’s performed well. My ONLY complaint is that it tends to wear down and is noticeably sluggish after about 4-7km in a day depending on snow conditions.

Easy to re-apply since you only need 5 minutes to “cure” the wax, but still a drawback. Not a full replacement for a hot wax that’s done for specific conditions, but I am very impressed!! I will definitely be keeping this in my ski arsenal.

I was searching for a way to condition my snowboard that hadn’t seen action at all last season. With a little internet sleuthing I found this product, headed to REI to discuss with an employee, and purchased.

This product was so convenient, easy, and it served my immediate need. It’s also packaged to keep in a pocket to keep one gliding smoothly on the slopes. (That said, I highly recommend reading the application directions because it needs a few minutes of cure time.

) Also, while talking to employee, I learned members can get a free hot wax.

I was skiing today in the light rain. My skies were hot waxed but I was having trouble with drag. Other skiers were having the same issue. I just bought this product and decided to use it. I went into the lodge and applied a coat to my skis.

It worked for 2 runs and kept re-applying. I decided to take a break, dried my skis and re-apply. I took a 40 minute break and went back to ski. I skied for another 2 hours with no issues. This trick is to apply to dry skis and let it dry (common sense I guess).

It save my ski day. I recommend for use in wet conditions.

I have had some experience in hot waxing alpine skis, usually good. I applied this wax and scraped it down to a very thin coat. I took it out on a very cold day (-10 F). I could glide with effort on the packed snow but I bogged down in the fresh.

It was like a kicker wax on cross country skis. After it wore off a bit, and the temps rose, it glided better but I am going to remove the wax entirely.

Used this on my wife’s skis and my son’s snowboard. Works well and is a very consistent coverage. I wish it was less expensive, but you can’t have everything. Since there is no chance of me stripping and re-waxing depending on temperatures, this was a great choice for me.

This stick of wax will probably do three or four pairs of skis or snowboards. If they are really dry it may cover less.

Let me preface this, I ski a lot, I ski trees and mostly ungroomed terrain and love expert terrain but at resorts. This was my first time waxing my own skis and so I bought universal temp wax because, I’m not a professional or ski snob who waxes twice a day ( no offense to them, I am just jealous 😉 I would say there is a Zen to waxing your own skis, it’s easy and it’s fun and it gives you something to do between ski trips.

Also, you can undercut resorts and wax friends skis for half the cost.

It definitely improves the glide on my skate ski’s. Only takes a few minutes to apply. Wipe on, wait five minutes then polish off with attached felt.

The reason why I use this is because of the ease of use. I use to race and before each race I would apply this on my skies. I don’t race anymore but when I feel the snow is sticky, I always apply this.

This stuff works really well!! If only we could have consistent snowfall and cold temperatures to maintain a great ski season! Lol

This line of biodegradable wax from Swix is the best in balance between quality and price. The temperature ranges they give are quite broad making them versatile for changing conditions. It is a wax that works very well and is very good as a training wax or for the recreational skier.

I have waxed my own skis since I’ve been skiing and, before that, I would wax my own snowboard. This wax is a great CO winter wax. I had a problem recently waxing my husband’s skis with wax adherence, but it could have been his ski bases or it could have been the fact it was 5 degrees and I was waxing outside.

I have used the Swix hydrocarbon wax series exclusively for years and have been very pleased with its performance in all snow conditions as a ski and skin wax. The temperature breaks for the wax make good sense to me and with just 3 you can pretty much cover any conditions year long in Colorado.

I also refuse to ski in 0 degree weather which helps! Ski waxing is easy even with CH7 which is a tiny bit brittle. It can still be scraped just fine but I prefer to run a piece of Swix Fiberlene over the ski between the iron and base on the last pass to remove excess in a much easier way than scraping.

It really is the bomb. CH8 is great for most of the season and is durable. More durable than what ski shops in my area use anyway (FWIW). CH 10 – Yellow (doesn’t appear to be sold here at the time of this review) is a great spring wax and rips in corn and soft wet snow.

I feel like it is a bit less durable but that is expected. I use CH8 for skin hot waxing and I have to say- it is easy and risk free. It also ROCKS! Do it! I use a setting of 100 deg F on my iron and do two crayons with ironing in between.

Five Stars for CH8 as a skin wax. Far more economical than all the specialty so-called skin wax products that are just rebranded hydrocarbon glide waxes. Plus the 60g block is kind of almost perforated into three 20g blocks, each the perfect size to bring with you into the field.

Aside from saving space in your pocket, each 20g block helps when reaffixing your climbing skin to concentrate the pressure of your hand so as to press the skin down very securely to ensure you don’t have any voids as well as squeeze out any free water on warm days.

A few other wax-related comments: – Only once have I tried hot waxing skins, and the potential singeing of the fibers scared me, but some racers swear by it. – The potential for fluoro wax on ski bases to cause skin glue failure is a warning I heard back in the 90s when I first started backcountry skiing, but I’ve never heard any actual evidence or scientific explanation (whether for or against).

– F4 is a nice universal wax, but the fluoro content is so low that it would be pointless as a fluoro additive to temperature-specific CH waxes. (One competitor does offer such a product, but very pricey.

).

The CH8 (Red) has been my go 2 wax for nearly 10 years of touring here in the Wasatch. I find it great in the majority of conditions and really notice the difference when I pull ahead of my partners on the flats or watch them glob up in the heavy/wet Spring conditions.

**Bonus points for never being problematic with skin glue. I find that skins still adhere to the bases well. #satisfiedcustomer.

This wax was easy to use and gave my board the smooth surface that I was looking for. It melted easily and scraped away smoothly. This was my first time waxing my own board and this wax was perfect for a beginner.

Gets the job done, but doesn’t stay long on a big ski trip. I probably got 3 good days out of my wax before it dried up. Could’ve been the hard pack that wore it off sooner than expected.

My local REI had this wax and no other temperature flavors, so I picked it up since it had NO TEMPERATURES listed on the box, and said, “All Conditions” on the label. Skied it on a 5 degree day and it was like glue on my skis! Did some research when I got home and found out it’s for 25F to 39F! I have been waxing skis with temperature specific waxes for 30 years, and used other generic all temp waxes.

shame on you North/SWIX for omitting temps here and ruining my day.

The spray glide waxes are a great way to touch up tips and tails on classic skis. Rather than get out the wax iron and scrapers we have been spraying at night and then brushing in the morning and the skis are good to go.

Usually take a wire brush for a few swipes and clean off the dirt before spraying. For recreational skiing they are wonderful!.

Love the new(ish) Swix PS lineup, including the 5 wax which is awesome for many colder days. In both consumer form (sold here) and shop form it is easy to work with, durable, and at a friendly price point.

Swix was kind enough to keep the color system relatively close, so easy to phase in the new PS as old CH stock runs out.

Great high performance wax. With the warmer temperatures and high moisture levels weve experienced this winter hf waxes offer undeniably higher glide performance. I understand the downside of these products and hope the industry offers alternatives in the future.

This wax works great as a quick and easy maintenance wax. As it says in the instructions, don?t use this right before a tour as you may have issues with your skins sticking. That said, the best off label use of this wax is removing skin glue from your bases! It literally works like a charm! (I?ve only tried with BD glide lite glue) Also, if you?re working on your skins and get some glue on your fingers- try washing it off with soap and struggle or just wipe a bit of this wax on your fingers, watch the instant magic ?? and move on with your day.

literally worth buying this wax just for its ease of removing skin glue but also a great way to keep bases lubed. Not to mention it?s a better wax for the environment. Wins x 3 = buy it.

Performance-wise, this wax is fantastic – fast and durable. Application was smooth and easy, and much more pleasant than fluoro wax. The plant-based/nontoxic formula is a giant advantage. Take better care of the mountains and the planet without sacrificing any performance? It’s a no-brainer.

My first time using this product. Worked well on the slopes. Not difficult to apply. I found its great when applied between ski trips. That way you can clean your skis before applying.

First day was +18F avg but -2F overnight, wax was considerably faster than avg speeds prewax. Also tried some 2day old crusty snow, blasted right through with no appreciable lag. Held up well after two days of shredding at speed.

I needed some form of protective wax for my snowboard as it was beginning to rust slightly in the off season due to general atmosphere changes etc. I decided to go with Butta Rub and spread it all over the edges of my board! After 3 months I can safely say that the rust has not found its way back so I’m very pleased with this product! I can’t think of any serious negatives to say.

it’s abit messy and gives off a slight chemical smell when using loads of it but those aren’t really things to stop you buying it! All in all, it’s just a good product to have to preserve the life of your equipment!.

Used this for the first time in Morzine. Board was pretty dry and tried this as temporary fix before getting a HandWax. I did use the structure pads just to finish the base following the rub on wax. Noticed a real difference in glide however it is what it is and the benefits reduced after a couple of runs.

no substitute for getting a proper wax but will give a good temporary benefit especially if your planned run has flats.
