20 Best Weaning Puppy Food (2022 Updated)

The first litter I used this for, it didn’t work very well. The puppies just didn’t seem to like it. I bought 10 cans and used maybe 2. This litter just started weaning and I’m going through a can a day.

They love it and are gaining weight daily. I add a little more kibble to the mix each feeding and hope to be transitioned completely before I’m out of cans. I will buy this for my next litter, probably in the 5 lb bag since the price of the cans had gone up so much.

I brought home a very small thin puppy. I started him on this food in addition to his regular puppy food. He loves this food and at 15 weeks still loves to have it for “dessert. !” No GI side effects and I believe it actually helped my guy keep his appetite when he had a vaccine reaction.

this was the only thing he would eat for about 24 hrs. His weight gain has been fantastic. he has filled out, gained weight and brought himself up to an appropriate weight range. His coat has gone from dry and dull to sleek and shiny! I have also used a good dog food with him so I can’t attribute his condition just to this supplement, but I truly believe it has helped enormously with his appetite and I highly recommend it!.

My poor dog, I have a standard poodle he’s 6 months and I just couldn’t afford royal canine anymore because he has a huge appetite. I didn’t research fully on the best foods for his breed, especially coming from a top tier brand.

I liked the price of this and it had good reviews so I tried it. Mistake! It’s been 2 weeks now and my dog was kennel trained and almost house trained, that’s been reversed with this food. His poop and gas is the worst smell I’ve ever experienced and he has to go twice as much as he did before.

He is not adjusting. His poop is not solid anymore and he’s not his energetic self. Unless you started with this brand I don’t recommend it at all. Process of ordering from chewy was awesome though. No complaints there.

I was getting a pup from a well reputable AKC Breeder who had Championship Bloodlines and she recommended this brand. She has had about 40+ years breeding her precious dogs and having this as their main course.

I switched and I have been happier than ever! My puppy was soooo healthy! Vet runs have even been doing great! I got more for my older dog because the puppy formula convinced me of how well this brand is.

I mean, even their coats are so silky and longer. No issues with dryness or dull looks. Their build is now bulkier but not fat. Highly active and overall great behavior. I RECOMMEND this dry food for puppies.

The chunks are small and easy to chew for first timers.

1st Ingredient: Chicken by-product meal = “less desirable” parts of a chicken that remain after the meat is removed. 2nd Ingredient Corn = “Self explanatory, cheap and not healthy even for humans (3) Artificial chicken flavor.

And. The list goes on! I just bought a puppy and this is what the seller gives to them. I suppose it’s better then WM food but these ingredients are horrible. If you made your own dog food with these ingredients it would hardly cost you anything.

No way! You need a high protein food with no fillers/additives.

This product and all the variants are great. One of my dogs suddenly started getting hives, itchy, flaky skin, and experiencing hair loss. We tried tests at the vet, topical ointments, specialty baths, and VERY expensive prescription dog food.

Nothing worked. When we switched to this, her issues almost immediately cleared up. So I’m thinking she may have a grain allergy. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive for the amount of pounds you get, however it’s about half price of the prescription stuff.

With three large dogs I go through 40lbs of food about every two weeks. My dogs love the taste (all flavors) and it makes a noticeable difference in their hair and skin quality, so it’s worth it. As a bonus, I can switch flavors with each round of purchases without their stomachs ever getting upset.

They really enjoy and appreciate that.

I’ve been feeding a mix of this in adult recipe, Orijen Puppy formula(very similar ingredients), and Hill’s skin & stomach(this really helped her itchy dry skin). She really likes this mix and beef is a great protein for her as she grows.

Now that she’s much larger the adult sized(smaller) kibble are less gratifying to her. I switched her over to the large breed(same recipes, larger kibble) versions if these dry foods and she’s become much more interested.

THIS LARGE BREED RECIPE WAS REALLY DIFFICULT TO FIND AND I HOPE IT IS NOT BEING DISCONTINUED.

I have a lab poodle mix with grain intolerance to wheat, oats, rice, barley & soy. Haven’t challenged corn. She does not like the wilderness grain-free food and I am unhappy about the high percentage of peas to meat.

It is believed that the beans, lentils & peas are causing cardiac issues. Research was published on AKC website last year. Thus I have switched her food to 50 % Freedom & 50% wilderness. I even add a little canned food to tempt her to eat.

I never had a dog that didn’t like her food! I think I need to try an elevated dish next as she will eat if I hand feed her but less eager if she has to bend down. Now that she has no diarrhea with Freedom I will switch to 100% slowly.

If it were not for Blue Buffalo’ s grain free foods I would have had to put my last 2 grain intolerant dogs down. But they saved my dog’s lives twice! God bless you all, Laurie.

I have a very picky eater, but we have found success with the Taste of the Wild Ancient Grains flavors. Any time she eats breakfast before noon, we call that a success. She used to eat breakfast between 3:00 and 4:30 p.

m. and dinner between 8:30 and 9 p. m. She just didn’t like her food and was only eating because she was giving in to hunger. I don’t want to feed my dog something that she doesn’t really like. Since switching to Taste of the Wild, she has been eating much better.

Right now, she’s been eating the Prairie flavor in the morning and the Wetlands or Mountain flavor for dinner. We found that switching the flavors around with her is what works best. She seems to get bored with a flavor after just 2 or 3 days.

Luckily, she has no problem with switching flavors and it keeps her motivated to eat. I use two bowls and put out both flavors in the morning. She chooses which one she wants to eat and finishes that bowl.

She gets lots of praise and a special treat for finishing a bowl, so she comes to me to tell me she’s “all done. ” She usually eats her dinner while we are eating ours. Something about seeing us eat motivates her to eat too.

(It seems this brand either has picky eaters or gobblers – nothing in between!) I prefer to buy from Chewy because I’ve heard of brand-switching going on with some offers on other online places and showing close up of the bags, you could tell the printing was not right.

When opened, the dog food was obviously different shape and color. I didn’t buy it, but I saw the images. There was not doubt. With Chewy, I don’t have to worry about my dog getting a knock-off inferior dog food.

Getting it delivered to my door is a big plus.

Perfect for our Shih Tzu! We found out our 7yo Shih Tzu might have an enlarged heart during a cancer scare earlier this year. While the jury’s still out on the effects of foods containing peas, legumes, and sweet potatoes on dog hearts, I decided to remove them from her diet just to be safe.

We love the quality of Taste of the Wild, so I wanted to stick with the brand. After doing some research, the Ancient Wetlands seemed to meet all her nutritional requirements. Taste of the Wild was nice enough to send out two sample bags for us to try before committing, and she seems to like it more than their small breed formula we were giving her before.

Also happy about the glucosamine and other extras, as she’s getting older and would have likely needed some kind of supplementation in that area before long anyway. And if anyone else is thinking about switching to this from the small breed and is curious about the size, it’s only slightly larger; it’s still about the size of an aspirin.

Our 60lb rescue has been eating Taste of the Wild since we got him 2 years ago and we are very pleased with this brand! We started him off on the grain-free recipe at first but switched to the ancient grains line because he kept having loose stools.

Our vet also warned us that grain-free isn’t good for most dogs. After switching to ancient grains, our pup hasn’t had any problems! He’s quite a picky eater but he loves this recipe! Everyone has always commented on how soft and silky his coat is and I have to give credit to Taste of the Wild.

I did extensive research about the brand before choosing them and truly could not find a dog food that is better. Ingredients are all very high quality, well-sourced, and mixed in the correct ratios for a healthy dog.

Make sure you look at the recipes carefully when selecting though because some flavors have lower protein content than others. I highly recommend this brand and the ancient wetlands recipe! You can’t beat this quality at this price!.

My Boxer/German Shepherd mix, Merry, is now almost 6 months old. When I got her at 9 weeks she was being feed an expensive “designer” no grain food. Her stools were loose and smelly. The vet then told me that dogs are having cardiac issues that are suspected to be related to no grain foods.

So I changed her food to another expensive food, slowly weaning her off the first food only to create gas problems. (Boxers are known for their ability to clear a room!). Years ago I raised an Irish Wolfhound puppy (who lived 10 years!) on Iams large breed so I started Merry on it.

No gas, smaller stools, proper growth rate, happy puppy, and dog food bill cut in half.

I adopted a six month old puppy on May 1st of 2020. She was prone to UTIs and had been on antibiotics almost her whole life. My vet said I should change dog foods and she gave me a list of the top three dog foods that she recommends.

Iams was at the top of the list. I immediately purchased Iams puppy chow. I have a two year old German Shepherd who also eats the Iams puppy chow. Since feeding my new dog the Iams she has not had a uti.

Also she is super healthy and her coat just gleams. The shepherd (also a rescue dog) is very underweight but also does well on the Iams puppy chow. I also have a 13 year old black Lab and I switched him to Iams Healthy Weight.

This food has been like an elixer for this dog!! His coat is super shiny but also he acts like a puppy at times. This food has been so good for him. I buy all my pet food at Canadian Tire. It is always so fresh!!.

My 12. 5 week old English Bulldog has been on this iams large breed puppy food since he was 9 weeks old. Stool consistency fluctuates. He vomits twice a week. Which by the way, it’s like 3 hours from the time he eats til puke time and he pukes up literally everything he had eaten.

so I don’t think he’s digesting it properly because after 3 hours you would think most of it wouldn’t be in his belly still. He likes the taste for sure. It’s cheap. Obviously. My main concern is this feed does NOT have the AAFCO statement.

Which means it’s not up to par for large breeds. I think we will try Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy. It’s approved by the AAFCO and is suitable for sensitive bellies and it’s the cheaper of the expensive dog foods.

I have a five year old Australian Shepherd who is notoriously picky – we have been feeding him “ultra premium” food from the pet store as it’s the only thing he will eat. I slowly introduced this into his diet and he loves it.

I looked at the IAMS bag versus the bag of food we were feeding him and I was surprised to see that the IAMS was actually better. IAMS had real lamb, no filler, no artificial preservatives, natural animal protein and complete and balanced nutrition.

Not to mention the fact the other food cost three times as much for a smaller bag. I love my dog and want him to have the best and sometimes I automatically think that means more expensive- in this instance that’s not the case.

We are switching to IAMS and I would definitely recommend other pet owners at the very least compare labels. You might just be surprised.

Iams was doing a vet checkup challenge where you’d be reimbursed for getting your pet his yearly checkup. The timing was perfect because it was his time to get checked and though this is not his regular food (Purina ProPlan or sensitive skin one is) I figured I would buy the lamb one since Purina Proplan has been out of the flavor for a while.

If my dog didn’t like it then I’d donate the other bag. Well, turns out he enjoys it and it doesn’t bother his stomach or skin. So, I also asked the vet at the checkup if this brand was OK to feed him? He’s previously mentioned Purina, Royal Canin and Hill’s science.

He said yes! So what’s not to love? I saved money on his checkup and I discovered a new brand that my vet approved and has the flavor my dog likes! Thank you Iams for my dog’s checkup, and sorry for overlooking you in the past.

Our 8 y/o Goldendoodle has been struggling with allergies and sensitivities this past year. After doing an elimination diet we found lamb works well for him and doesn’t cause constant itching, discomfort, and other issues.

After buying many different brands of food, that he hated (aka would not eat unless other food/treats were added), I finally bought 5 small bags of different food that were lamb and limited ingredients and put each of them in bowls next to each other to see which ones he would eat.

Figured this was better to quickly identify which food he would eat. This was either the cheapest or 2nd cheapest option and was very impressed that it was also the only one he would eat. Some others were nearly twice the cost and he’d smell it and quickly turn away.

I gave the other food to a family member who has multiple dogs who do not have allergies nor are picking eaters so it didn’t go to waste. Very pleased with the difference this has made for our dog. He isn’t in any more discomfort, his playfulness is back, has a lot more energy, and seems like his old self.

For an 8 year old dog he’s back to keeping up with the pup friends he has. Very pleased and it worked well for him.

WholeHearted Grain Free Limited Ingredient Salmon Recipe, Dry Dog Food for All Life Stages and Breeds 22 lbs. My dog can only eat this particular brand of dog food, due to her many, many severe allergies, so it’s important that “PETCO” keeps this in stock!!! We are finding it a HARDER to find, and hope PETCO will continue keeping this exact brand of dog food in stock.

We usually order the 22lb. bags, but could only find 12lb. bags from Petco’s website recently, and the order is coming from Ontario, CA. This is worrisome as our dog is allergic to all other dog foods in one ingredient or another.

This dog food isn’t cheap, but other dog foods, we would have to compromise her allergies on, and those prices are just outrageous. Hopefully PETCO will get their stock in order soon, or we will be in a pickle with our pup.

As far as the dog food itself, our dog responds wonderfully with it, and we are able to keep her allergies, and itching under control. Our dog seems to enjoy it too, and her coat has never looked so shinny and healthy.

She’s a different looking dog since first being rescued! Again, Petco, please fix your stock issue. This dog food literally says our dogs life!.

I bought this food because my geriatric (13 years) dog started walking away from his regular (high quality, organic, limited ingredient, etc) food. I was concerned about switching up ingredients so I looked for a formula that was as similar as possible, but still delivered quality since my dog is so old and I’m convinced he’s fragile, despite being 85 pounds.

He devoured this food. And then begged for more. He hasn’t begged in years. Best part? No stomach issues despite transitioning from his old food. His coat is super soft, his stool is healthy, and he’s been less gassy since the switch.

I did a taste test with my younger dog, who is a fiend for his regular kibble, and he preferred this one too. My old dog has been switched to this food for good. I haven’t decided for the younger one.

It’s about $15 / bag less than our regular brand, so it’s tempting. If they keep consistent recipes and my old man does well, I will likely switch.

WARNING!!! STAY AWAY FROM RACHEL RAY!!! First off, wtf does she know about dog food? Secondly. immediately no. Go ask your vet. They’ll tell you the same thing. RR pet food has been causing some MAJOR health problems and concerns for pets parents all around.

Cats and dogs. There are a ton of chemicals and additives and bad things that are not on the ingredients list found in the food. I was using this kibble for Mars, my 3yr old Chinese Shar Pei, and at first she was fine.

She seemed to like the beef better than the other flavors. But I would find that she would either be severely constipated or have the runs all day. I couldn’t figure out why. My mother is a holistic health coach and did some research and we added coconut oil and water more into her diet.

It helped a bit, but then she started shedding like crazy. And Shar Pei’s don’t shed a lot. So when I finally took her to see her vet, she asked me what her daily/average diet was. Once I mentioned RR, she immediately told me to change her food.

Long story short, her vet texted me some info on RR dog food and I changed her kibble. Almost a month later all that stopped. Her skin started clearing up, shedding like normal, no poop problems. STAY AWAY!!.

1st time trying this food after hearing positive things, it was a disaster for our dogs. Lethargic, curled up not feeling well, urgency to go outside and some not making it. Grass eating, drinking large amounts of water, needing to relieve themselves from it.

Overall something is off about the recipe. Our dogs have switched to other brands and have rarely experienced this kind of reaction to a new food. Initially they were hesitant to eat it dry and we added a bit of warm water to entice them to.

We have xl to tcup sized dogs and all reacted the same to it, very sickly. I would not recommend this food to anyone.

I have 5 Dobermans and 1 greyhound that require a well balanced, high quality food. I had been feeding Purina ONE SmartBlend True Instinct, but it became difficult to buy consistently and was frequently out of stock.

I tried 2 alternates and wasn’t satisfied with the results. I checked out the ingredients and nutritional values of Nutrish and compared them to others. I gradually switched them over as suggested and was very pleased with the results.

All my dogs LOVED it, even the more picky greyhound. Their coats are shiny, and the stools are firm. I highly recommend this for large dogs like mine.

Our beloved dog is very I’ll he was just 10, but for the past year he has been getting kidney treatment every other day. He has always been a finicky eater and to top it off he has always hated dog food and I tried every conceivable dog food on the market.

As the Doctor said as long as he eats and drinks, it will prolong his life and dog food is best. In the past, there isn’t a dog food that I haven’t tried to no avail, as I mentioned above. A friend had just adopted a puppy and gave me a can of Royal Canin to try.

I took it with thoughts of one more can to discard, but I had nothing to loose, so I went home and put down the can of Puppy Royal Canin to try and I felt that I had nothing to loose. I also saw that the can said Appetite Stimulation, so I put the can down with hope.

Low and behold Bandit gobbled the food up. My husband and I were in the best of shock. Even though, Bandit is an adult Shitzu/Maltese mix the Puppy food is giving him the nourishment he is so in need of.

I can never thank my friends an Royal Canin enough. So all of the finicky eater dogs out there, no matter the age, please give Royal Canine a try.

I bought the large in these. I’m so glad I found these bones. We started giving these to our dog every night after we paid $1800 to have a deep teeth cleaning and to have an abscessed tooth removed and another broken (and in danger of becoming abscessed) tooth removed.

The vet recommended better oral care for her. We chose these. I’ve given our pitbull other brands that are grain free but I like these much better. The other brands don’t last long but she gets a good chew out of these.

She enjoys these. 18 month update: our vet said our dog’s teeth look remarkably good. She said for our dog’s age she doesn’t have anywhere near the plaque and tarter build up dogs would normally have, even after the professional cleaning.

I have had this food on auto-delivery for several years now. In the last few months there have been some big changes especially in the smaller size, and I’m not even sure it is the right consistency anymore.

More money for less food. It looks more like cat food now. Ordering is ridiculous. They are either late or out completely. My dog does not understand this. You are messing with his food portions and the cost.

What is really disappointing is nothing was ever announced about the changes. Guess we’ll be looking around for different food. It is not good to be changing a poor dog’s food up because the supplier is greedy (Royal Canin).

Tried several top name brand puppy foods – he always had loose stool and I found that frustrating. Continued research and decided to try this one. I did the transition as recommended (no need to mix previous food ).

This works !!! My 5 month old pup doesn’t have loose stools and has less poop! I will keep feeding the puppy food until he is 12 months then move to Redpaw Fitness or Perform!.

My GSD puppy loves this food! Usually she sits and waits for her command to eat, since changing to this food she jumps on me as soon as she sees the bowl in my hand. She was a easy going pup but now she has so much energy! I started noticing that she was licking her paws a lot while on her old food (Something we noticed with our previous GSD but didn’t know that was a sign of an allergy until he was diagnosed with cancer and at that point was too late to treat) since changing her food she has stopped licking her paws and itching less.

She has only been eating this food for a week, can’t wait to see what other good changes come along!.

I had been looking for a high quality kibble for my 18 month old working GSD for a long time! I had tried numerous brands even tried some of the fresh alternatives which for me are extremely expensive, but do offer good quality.

My dog is extremely high energy and doesn’t really have an “off switch” and as such has had more than his fair share of GI issues in his young life. We finally determined he could not tolerate chicken or turkey or duck, nothing with feathers as the protein source.

He also can not tolerate blueberries, yes you read that correctly, something as good as blueberries twists his GI tract up terribly. This Orijen is one of very few kibble recipes that have no fowl and no blueberries and he absolutely loves it! The protein is very high quality and there are some grains to ensure he gets the taurine he needs as well.

If I had one issue with the recipe I would say it’s with the addition of the mackerel fish, while I understand the need for the oils for omega’s I would rather see salmon used instead. He seems to be doing well his poop’s are for the most part firmish and there is about 25-30 percent less of it so I believe he is absorbing more of the nutrients.

The price is about what you would expect to pay for food of this quality and about 50 percent less than the “subscription” based “fresh” foods.

I never fully got on the grain-free bandwagon, and now that I’ve read the FDA report connecting grain-free dog foods to canine dilated cardiomyopathy, I’m glad I didn’t! I got my new pup at 9 weeks about 3 months ago, and he was on wet food but showing interest in his dad’s kibble at that time.

The vet said she recommended “anything except grain-free,” so I started checking ingredients, looking at reviews, and reading through all the published studies about canine diet that I could get my hands on.

Orijen Amazing Grains Puppy Food was my first pick, and while it took my pup a little while to get used to it (he wanted to play with it rather than eat it!), he’s taken to it well. He still eats his wet food first, but then he snacks on this kibble throughout the day.

He’s healthy and happy, seems to have no digestive issues at all, and certainly enjoys mealtime. For my part, I’m happy to see lots of quality meat ingredients, no peas or potatoes (the problem ingredients related to heart issues), and a good protein and fat ratio.

It’s a little pricy, sure, but for a dog likely won’t top 10 pounds, it’s affordable. We’re going do a rotation diet, so he gets a variety of proteins and isn’t dependent on one brand, but Orijen is definitely going to be part of the regular diet.

Our rescue Weimaraner Pitbull mix pup, who was extremely emaciated, has done extremely well on this food. She is now up to a healthy weight and maintaining eating Dr Gary’s Best Breed. Her skin, coat and teeth are very healthy.

Most notably, her coat is soft and shiny, looks and feels like velvet. Our vet was unfamiliar with the brand and recommended we switch to Science Diet, which we did not do because of bad experiences with SD in the past.

We stayed with the recommendation of the rescue we got our sweet pup from, and so glad we did. I would highly recommend this food to anyone looking for an excellent quality food. Our pup loves it and gives Dr.

Gary’s a 5 paw rating!.

We have a 13 year old dog with allergies and had been using grain free food for years. We went to a new Vet and they told us that using grain free food was actually bad for dogs hearts. We actually hadn’t seen alot of changes with the grain free and his allergies, so we were willing to try something new.

The Vet told us it’s usually the beef or chicken, not the grain so we switched to the Salmon based food. Within 2 weeks our dogs are already seeing better results, our senior dog is having less ear build up than he has in years.

He isn’t shaking and itching all the time and isn’t miserable with his allergies. We love Dr. Gary’s food and this just made it that much better for our fur babies!.

When our medium golden doodle was 7 months old, he began to develop periodic diarrhea and would go through bouts of loose stools. He was eating Fromm with chicken for puppies. Switched to Purina Pro Plan, first with chicken then with salmon, but really did no good.

Our vet recommended Royal Canin and Science Diet. When I went to buy some, a knowledgeable locally-operated pet store owner suggested that we try Dr. Gary’s Coldwater Recipe (new name for Salmon with vegetables).

During the last 2 months, our guy has been fine. Zero digestive issues, firm stools, and he loves the food. I would highly recommend Dr. Gary’s – food produced by a family company in Ohio using quality ingredients and no garbage fillers.

When we lost our pup Aug of 21 from cancer complications, I knew it had to of been sourced from food. So in Sept of 21 the month to the day after losing my 12 y/o boy I was presented with the opportunity of paying a rehoming fee for a little 8 week old lab I knew he’s what my left behind 10 y/o deaf female dogs heart and my families hearts needed.

So we welcome him and I knew I had to start him from the get go on the best dog food a human could buy and this brand after reading so many articles and watching food nutritionist videos always led to this brand.

I did have the pup on large puppy and my senior girl on the senior up until just a few days ago I switched them both to this and may do like another reviewer does up there and switch between RR and Original just for the poultry aspect as well.

I love how they come running when I say breakfast/dinner time and they’re anxious/excited the whole time I’m making their bowl up as I add a tablespoon of Orijen soft canned food too with some water to create some gravy for them.

I tell the both of them all of the time how their late brother would have loved these breakfast/dinner dishes just as much. Yes, I talk to my deaf dog. Ever since she came into my life at 8 weeks. Haha.

But I also love how the both of them get compliments on their fur looking so nice all of the time.

My collie’s breeder said this is what my dog got so I bought the puppy food for her. Then as she grew, we got the adult Wysong. She is now 5. 5 yrs old and the food recently was back ordered. I picked a limited ingredient food in another brand to feed her till Wysong adult was back in stock.

She started scratching and her skin and hair got very dry. I found the Wysong food again and 2 weeks later her scratching started to subside. A month later she was almost normal but no more Wysong. Back on another food she went and within a week her hair was just falling out.

I now have Wysong again and looking forward to her skin and coat hopefully recovering fully. My Jack Russell also was chewing his paws when he did not have his wysong food. He too has been on this food since I got him and he just turned 4 so I hope to never run out again.

The other thing I told my vet that I noticed was both dogs lost weight and muscle tone when they were not getting the Wysong. Just so happy to have it back!!!.

My older dog has been eating Wysong food for years. She recently had her annual check-up with a blood profile. Her blood profile was perfect! And, the vet said she looks great aside from a bit of arthritis in her left knee.

She loves Wysong food and her stools are always perfect. To give our dog a bit of variety, I’ve purchased other brands from time to time but our dog prefers Wysong. I like the fact that the food comes in 5 lb.

I started my now 7 month old German shepherd on Purina pro plan because I liked the mid range price and his vet recommended. He has always had diarrhea issues and itches more than a pup should. First thought it was a chicken intolerance so tried the pro plan sensitive skin and stomach.

The big concern I had is my dog turned his nose away from his proplan food. He of course ate it eventually but he never was thrilled about it. I thought he was being a snob but Tonight I witnessed my gsd pick out the Purina pro plan pieces to eat orijen.

I am without a doubt certain animals know what they need better than I. I think Purina has too many filler ingredients or the grains are just too much for him. Of course every animal is different and I wish mine was the kind that did great on the cheaper brand but he just isn’t.

Worth every penny to have a food my dog enjoys and I have no doubt his digestive and skin issues will improve.

I decided to try this super expensive dog food because my 10 year old mini pin was “getting old” and beginning to develop the typical health problems associated with aging. She was: severely overweight; losing mobility; exhibiting difficulty breathing; and appeared to always be in pain.

Within one month, I noticed her perking up and looking more vibrant. By the third month, her hair was shinier, softer, and she was visibly overall healthier. One year on solely Orijen, and she has trimmed down, become the vivacious dog she once was, and gotten back to fetching, running and jumping off the deck with our younger dogs.

Orijen has given Kona her life back, and while its price is out of this world compared to other dog food, it is a long-term investment that will help keep your dogs out of the Vet’s office. We only feed all of our dogs Orijen now.

I have had dogs all my life. When I was a kid I remember my mom saying “Make sure to scrape your plate” and whatever we had for dinner went into the dogs bowl. Honestly, our dogs were always healthy and lived long lives.

Then came Purina Dog Chow. Feeding trials and scientific evidence to back it up. I have always fed my dogs Purina since. Oh, sure, I have tried other brands throughout my years, spending lots of money.

But always back to Purina. One dog I had lived 17 1/2 years. I don’t understand people who get worked up about by products. You think if a dog catches a chicken and eats it that it will only eat the white meat? And NO by products from Purina are not obscure.

And I have no idea where the rumors started dogs can’t eat corn. Go to Purina. com and EVERYTHING you want to know is on this site. Stop being guilted into spend hundreds of dollars on expensive dogfood.

Purina Dog Chow and Puppy Chow are excellent.

First time New puppy mom here. Inherit my puppy by a neighbor. From 9lbs to 23lbs he’s only 4months. Puppy Chow Complete is a great brand! Every time I go shopping to purchase more. The stores is always out.

Had to buy another brand. My puppy hate the taste. Left it for stray cats. I finally found a bag. Will never change. Haze loves when a mix the dry chow with the can chow. Cleans his bowl! No crumbs left.

When i first got my mini Dachshund, we had a lot of trial and error on what he would eat. I spent a lot of money trying different brands of wet and dry foods. Finally after a week I brought home puppy chow.

A year later, every time he hears the nuggets hit the bowl, he comes flying through the house. Flappy ears and all. He loves this stuff and I have never had an issue with him getting sick from it. To top it all off, its insanely affordable and not high priced like some of those “fancy” dog food companies.

This is the ONLY dry food my 4 year old Havapoo pup will eat. He’s an extremely picky eater, I have tried around 8 different types of dry food and he would always just pick around it and only eat his wet food.

When he started having teeth problems from not eating enough dry food I decided to cut the wet food out of his diet completely. He refused to eat the dry food I was feeding him despite me adding broths and treats and ended up losing 2 lbs, which is a lot for a 12lb dog.

I finally have in and started mixing his wet food with the dry again. I recently decided to switch to this one because he seemed to like the wellness core dry food the best. I noticed that he would eat all the dry food instead of just picking out the wet food and leaving the dry, I then gradually decreased the wet and gave him 100% dry food and to my surprise he ate all of it and has continued to do so for the past week! I couldn’t be happier! I am now exclusively feeding him this food.

Seriously, if you have a picky eater give this a try!.

I don’t understand the poor reviews of this stuff – it’s great. My 8 year old lab loves it! She seems to be getting some vitality back and her always healthy poo’s seem even healthier. She also likes it better than any other food I’ve had her on, like she gets excited about it beyond just loving food.

The slightly larger odd shaped triangle pieces of food actually force her to slow down and chew a bit instead of just inhaling/swallowing tiny kibble, haha. and even though it’s a little pricey, the added supplements for seniors make it worth it in my mind.

also my dog has always been on a grain free diet and since when do wolves eat grain? The heart issue is solved with the added Taurine so I am less worried about that than all the GMO’s in grains and the health issues THOSE cause.

I couldn’t be happier with this food.

After getting our puppy who had originally been on Kirkland puppy food, we switched to wellness core because it was rated one of the best dog foods. However, we noticed that our puppy struggled to adjust to it.

She wouldn’t eat out of her dog bowl so we thought that was the problem so we switched the dog bowl. But even then she still seemed hesitant with the food. She’d only eat one piece at a time and she hardly ever finished a full meal which was on 1/4 a cup 3 times a day.

We decided to switch her food to Hills Science diet puppy food and she devours it and then cries for more. Not sure if the size of the food was too big or she didn’t like the taste, but for us we just didn’t have success with this brand of dog food.

I would recommend people to try it though because it is a good brand, but just like humans dogs have specific taste and texture preferences.

I just would like the bag of dog food that it was in 2 bags or twice a month delivery. It is way too heavy for 1 person to lift. In order to get the special price you need to order the 1x a month bag delivery to the house.

I only have 1 dog and not sure I will feed him this much food in 1 month. The computer tells me that this needs to be 50 characters long, just want this to be reviewed so a person needs to make sure this is 50 words long.

How about sending out a smaller bag? This bag that I got was way too heavy and bulky to get this in the house then I had to unpack the box which was again way too heavy and bulky. Think I am going to cancel the delivery of this big bag and have to pay more for smaller bag and will need to order it more frequently.

Wow he loves it! (My 7 month old rescue German Shepard mix). My vet and trainer recommended Royal Canin. One of my pups classmates mom was using the kibble for treats for training. I asked what kind of kibble does your dog consider a treat???? Royal Canin! So I caved (normally I buy the value brands, not cheapest but in the middle) and I purchased and he loves it! He loves the puppy wet canned food too.

I use it to stuff his kongs and freeze. He can’t get enough of it. Never seen a dog so happy over dog food. And I can tell his poop doesn’t smell as bad and his coat is way shinier. Really glad I tried it and will continue to buy.

Worth the investment. Food is medicine applies to dogs too!.
