20 Best Wearable Video Camera (2022 Updated)

I really like the compact factor, the convenient and easy mounting options. The quality and stabilization of the recording is also top notch for something at this price. I would say this is comparable to a GoPro in terms of video quality and stabilization.

However, the biggest problem that ruined the Insta360 GO 2 for is that it overheats. It’s suppose to be able to get about 30 minutes of video recoding with its onboard 32GB if recording at 2k 60 fps.

However, I mounted this on my bike and it was only able to record 5 to 8 minutes at a time, then the yellow light would start to blink, indicating that the camera is overheating. I was willing to overlook the lack of 4k recording due to its size and the quality of the video.

30 minutes of recording isn’t even that long, especially because there is no removable battery either, so you would have to stop, put the camera back in its charging case, wait for it to charge in order to record again.

I was still willing to overlook this. However, overheating while I’m riding on my bike is unusable. A lot of action cameras will overheat, but they tend to work just fine when I actually use them for action, moving around, biking, etc.

Yet, the Insta360 GO 2 still could not record longer than 8 minutes for me. How unfortunate.

I was so excited to get the PogoCam because of the possibilities it presented. But when I got it I was grossly disappointed. The good Its small, fits discreetly on your eyeglasses, stays put. The not so good It automatically turns off in a very short period of time, so often its not on when you need to take that quick spontaneous picture.

Its also somewhat difficult to push the buttons for taking a picture or shooting video. And finally, in order to download and view the pictures it really requires removing the camera from your eyeglasses, placing it in the battery box, and downloading it to your computer.

Yes you can download things to your phone app but its cumbersome at best. The bottom line as many has said is that its a nice little toy and nothing more. If you plan on using it seriously, look elsewhere.

The PogoCam is an incredible little camera. I used the loop and attached it to my regular glasses. I can’t even feel the weight of it or tell anything is there. The photos and videos are great. This truly does allow me to watch life in the first person instead of through my phone screen as I am taking videos of my kids this weekend.

The instructions are a little vague. But the camera takes very good pictures. For such a small camera I was very impressed with the clarity and sound

A few times I was close to return it. This is my first GoPro and the learning curve is steep. Camera does not come with a manual, can find one On Line. Everything is controlled with the touch screen, which has a mind of its own, sometime it responds sometime not.

Also one has to be careful not to touch the back screen unintentionally while fiddling with it. It may respond then and completely change the setting. The image quality in video is very nice, good stabilization, one need to learn not to expect miracles.

While biking even on flat road some small bumps are visible in the footage. Forget about mounting it on the front handle bar. I have it mounted on my helmet, a bit better but again, one needs to be careful, move slowly and avoid bumps if you want smooth footage.

The photo quality does not even come close to a regular camera, and I did not expect it to. Buttons are stiff, need to push them with conviction otherwise they don’t engage. So fine, I decided to keep it.

A great toy and it has its niche. I would not take my regular camera to places where this one can go.

I had earlier considered GoPro to deserve three stars, but between product bugs and moreover the impenetrable and inscrutable customer support, a mediocre rating is too generous. I write knowing that most consumers rate GoPro high, but having owned GoPros for over ten years and currently owning four, I think I can fairly say that the company never admits that its products have bugs, and when you try to get any but the most rudimentary support, your inquiry is sent to the team, a black hole where if a reply does manage to escape it might not be for ten days and then does not respond to the issues you raised.

To be clear, I am speaking not of just one experience, but multiples. I have returned one camera on a warranty issue because (among other things) it visually compressed the recorded image horizontally, ruining a shoot (the company apparently takes almost a month for an defective camera to be exchanged — I’m into my third week of waiting right now).

I am yet to learn why the time-remaining displayed when I record at 4K is less than the time-remaining at the otherwise same settings when I record at 5K. When I tried streaming video while recording at 5K, the image is grossly distorted (I understand that 5K has a different aspect ratio, but presumably that is corrected when streaming, and if not then GoPro should be able to explain that in a minute rather than two weeks).

I have found that to keep the camera from crashing in certain situations, it is best to record without a battery (assuming you can plug in to power). The list goes on. Software bugs can be tolerable if a company acknowledges the issue and communicates, but GoPro does neither.

Its poor front-end people are forced to exploit all the boilerplate apologies and assurances in their book to cover for the non-responsive team. Unfortunately, GoPro cameras seem to be the only product that do what they do (or are supposed to do, anyway), so there’s not much choice but to grin and bear it.

Or grin, anyway.

I got this Hero 7 Silver for Christmas and was so excited I was going to get to use it for my vacation in Belize. I went snorkeling and saw some beautiful coral reefs and fish and huge stingrays and thought it was videoing but found that this piece of junk got water inside where the SD card and port to charge it.

The cover looked completely closed but water got through it. I got about 5 minutes of recorded video from the beginning but lost the rest of the time I snorkeled for about an hour. The camera was about 5 feet deep underwater.

I was so heart broken that I could never get that experience again unless I go back. I was very disappointed with this product and this company and don’t think I will get another one. One because of the price and two I don’t know if I could trust another GoPro camera.

This camera is a brilliantly crafted product. It does take very good quality videos in various lighting situations. PROS 1. Expandable memory: You can pop in a 256GB microSDHC and expand it to accommodate 6 hours of 4K quality video recording.

2. Weight: Light and ideal for sports and on the go recording. 3. Image quality: Very good as long as you select the correct setting using the phone app accessible through a phone-to-device wifi connection.

CONS 1. Wifi connection: The only option of connecting the device to your phone via wifi is lame, and unfortunately the bigggest con with this device. To connect to wifi, you have to deactivate the mobile signal of your phone and then connect the phone to the device’s wifi network.

This is so archaic. This interface is fundamental to using the device optimally especially to adjust the lighting setting. If there was a bluetooth or even a wired USB option for that aspect, it would surely earn a 5 star for me.

2. Battery life: In its best video quality mode, the battery life is 20 minutes. A work around for that is to obtain a power pack and run your power source directly off the power pack. 3. Poor picture quality: Quite confusing that it has a brilliant video quality but not too good still photo quality.

Something the designers have to look into. Overall a good camera that could easily be a brilliant camera if given some fundamental design upgrade to make it a definite competitor against the GoPROs of today.

Hello, For the price it is impeccable, very accessible. Regarding the order, delivery and customer contact nothing to complain about, it’s pleasant to see warm. Regarding the box, it is a flexible and robust pouch, the whole is compact so very practical for transporting on long journeys (plane for example).

On the other hand, to be always ready to film, plan a standard cover for a 7 to 10 inch tablet to slide the device mounted on its head set with your command on the wrist;). For the camera; – the product is well finished, good ergonomics, the buttons easily accessible during filming, the micro Sd and usb access are clear.

For the most important part, the video; The device will be rather effective with good external light, which seems good for sportsmen and nature lovers, Unfortunately I am not an athlete and I live in Normandy.

With a fairly gray weather, rain and I use this camera to give driving demonstrations for learners to drive. It would be very nice if you add the options related to this concern in the application which is not competing; – Adjustment of contracts – brightness – why no filters too – access not web manager from a pc there is the adjustment of the sensitivity of the cmos but it is not sufficient for my use.

Of course I am satisfied, to have a device in view in the first person, it is a very practical tool to provide my students with commented driving demonstrations, which give them a real boost to progress and prepare for the exam.

Device arrived yesterday (19 days in transit). I’m very impressed so far. Excellent user manual in English – well worth reading it through. All the items specified were supplied. Video quality is great apart from low light situations but that will be a problem for me.

The phone app works exactly as outlined and is easy to use (I’m using an Android phone). I do my editing in Davinci Resolve and it had no issue with the files created by the EP7. The fit of the unit works fine even though I wear glasses.

The unit seems to get hot but I assume that’s within the design spec so overall 5 starts from me.

this is my first action camera so I cannot compare to other products. video and picture quality is very nice, I was very pleased when I watched videos on my laptop. Picture is nice, vivid, with reasonable details.

Sound quality could be better however, the camera is apparently struggling with noise cancellation too much. When I watched videos from vacation I was not pleased with the fact that camera constantly switched between stereo and wind-cancellation mode and it sounds very weird when playing those videos.

Therefore it is always the best to choose sound preference manually when recording video. underwater video quality is superb! IS is amazing, I was astonished how flawlessly the stabilization works in hero6.

Battery lasts about 1-2 hours, depends on the setup, resolution, fps, etc so it is always good idea to have powerbank in the backpack when doing longer trips. charging is fortunately very quick, especially using quickcharge – I don’t have exact measures, but battery was almost 100% (from 15%) in less than 1 hour.

The only issues I’m facing is that sometimes (it happened 3x already) the camera got stuck somehow and you cannot do anything but to remove the battery. This can be frustrating if the camera is mounted somewhere, because you need to remove camera from the bracket to remove the battery.

Also videos and photos taken while the camera freezes are corrupted and needs to be deleted (could be that my SD card is faulty, will see if the issues occur again). I also recommend to format SD card if this happens to prevent further failures and to avoid issues with camera detection in gopro quik application.

While a few of the on screen controls are a bit clunky I like that you have those options to begin with. There are many online tutorials explaining what everything does and what values work best for various filming conditions.

I used a knockoff action cam before for 120FPS footage and it was dark and grainy but this camera was far better at utilizing the available light and keeping the image sharp even with digital stabilization.

Definitely worth the money for a used one. If you’re like me and don’t need to mount the camera to yourself or a moving vehicle there isn’t much reason to get a newer version than the 6 Black since those mainly add Hypersmooth stabilization with little improvement to the image.

The app controls are pretty nice too but I rarely use them since on camera is fine. I particularly like that even if the camera is off and you need to start shooting right away hitting the record button will get it filming within 5 seconds and then stopping record will shut it down to conserve the battery.

You can even disable only the front red LED to avoid reflections of it blinking but still be able to tell if it is recording from behind or the side.

Good but battery charge doesnt last long, file transfer speed is slow and cant cord connect to iPhone. Also you only get basic features on the app unless you pay. You need a newer model (I think) if you want to live stream from the cam.

If you buying this second hand, as most would be now, its worth getting one with extra batteries and mounts etc or youll end up having to buy these separately. Its worth buying 2nd hand as so many people with too much money buy the latest and never use them, so youll pick up a bargain and its does much the same as the newer models.

This started out being a great little camera. until my son wanted to film a science experiment, underwater. We first made sure it didnt need any extra external cover/casing, then made sure all of the openings were securely closed.

He filmed for approximately 15 minutes, and then. nothing. The camera simply stopped functioning. We thought it was that perhaps the battery hadnt been fully charged, but, nope. Water behind the LCD screen, water in the battery compartment, memory card compartment, and USB ports.

Tried literally everything to get it working again. Not happening. Its deader than a door nail.

I love this camera. I use it, along with a multitude of GoPro accessories, for capturing the serenity of my canoe tripping in the backcountry. It is rugged, durable, waterproof, and has never failed me.

Battery life isn’t fantastic, so I usually carry 4-5 extras with me as well as the dual battery charger and a few mobile battery chargers while out on longer trips. But recording 4K30fps footage it will last me for approximately 2 hours straight if desired and other settings are limited (screen off, wireless off, etc.

). 4K footage takes up a lot of space which has nothing to do with GoPro so I carry several 128GB cards as well. I’ve used it with the head strap, chesty, 3-way tripod and extension arm, super suit, and several other accessories and it has stood the test of rugged backcountry use.

It has been fantastic. I read another review about charring inside the battery housing after underwater use. This is definitely due to water leaking in to the case and usually means the battery door was not entirely sealed.

If using this underwater, always make sure all side doors are sealed (sometimes it takes an extra second of fiddling to ensure it closes securely). I also typically will use the Super Suit when doing pure underwater footage as extra protection never hurt anyone.

All in all, I love this camera, and given the minimal difference in specs vs the Hero 6, I’m happy with this. Cheers.

I had a Contour camera that stopped working properly and decided to “upgrade” to Gopro (which put Contour out of business, I presume). The Hero is a power-eating machine that eats batteries for breakfast.

Picture quality is great – but you have no idea what mode your camera is in unless you are holding the camera – which defeats the entire purpose of having a Gopro. If I am going to hold a camera, the Gopro – which is small and has no attachment points of any kind – is a very poor choice.

But once it is mounted, you can easily change from video to photo with the SAME BUTTON that you use to start the video! So you press the button and either you get a video or nothing (because the first press changed modes instead of starting the camera).

then you press again and instead of a video you get a photo. It’s like Russian Roulette with your memories. Good luck getting the shots you want. I spent a day skiing with my new Hero 10 and the MOST IMPORTANT SHOT ended up in “Time Lapse Mode” – which is to say it is useless.

Their desktop app crashes and they email me every day asking if it is somehow working even though they have offered NO SUGGESTIONS as to how to fix it except – you guessed it: “Try reinstalling the same software program (and leave us alone since you already bought the camera and we don’t really care what you think)” Their tag line should be: Lose your memories – and your mind – with Hero 10.

Positives: Small, Durable, Versatile, Water-Proof, Easy to use adjustable settings. Video stabilization is awesome. Negatives: File sizes are insanely huge, take up lots of memory fast and no good way to really tone it down.

Go-Pro Color is completely off, over-saturated, and unnatural to reality. One can however turn that off providing some improvement. Quite a bit of digital distortion/fragmenting around moving subjects.

Does not come with a plug in charger for the wall or much else for that matter. Still images lack detail zooming in and are about the equivalent of a cheap smartphone. No built in stereo mic? Less expensive Sony cameras had that 10 years ago along with other features this does not have.

Final Conclusions: Great for what it’s built for (Durability/Action shots but certainly could use some improvements on some things less expensive cameras from other brands were already doing 10+ years ago.

Decent enough little camera but I feel just a tad over-rated. AVCHD Sony video from 10 years ago has better color, less fragmenting, overall more pleasant and natural looking to watch. Simply having higher video resolution isn’t everything when it comes to overall video quality.

Certainly beats what I’ve previously owned when it comes to image stability though.

This is my 2nd Hero4 Silver. I bought this one as a hot spare when my original one started misbehaving after many years of diving, snorkeling & kayaking. I have extra cases, external strobe & lens filters all for this model, so I decided to stick with it rather than going with one of the newer ones.

Mine has taken great video & stills over the years. It was hard to believe this little thing could replace my much larger underwater rig, but after some getting used to it I’ve got it figured out. It is so much easier to travel with & deal with on a dive boat.

Lots of accessories available for them as well. Just make sure it is for this model.

I had to contact GoPro with a question. The sticker with the serial number was gone, so the camera cannot be registered. GoPro advised that this is NOT manufacturer refurbished, as claimed in the listing.

Camera is unblemished and works well. Firmware was updated to most recent version. No Micro-USB card included. Accessories are Chinese knock-offs and are pretty much junk. The thumb screws are not stainless steel, and rusted the first time I used the camera in the waterproof case in salt water.

The male connector, needed to attach to most of the accessories, broke the very first time I used it while removing it from the mount. Fortunately, 2 extras are included, presumably because they are such low quality.

The waterproof case IS waterproof. I bought this to make image transfers via Bluetooth. Unfortunately, the ONLY way to transfer images is via the USB cable and a computer. The GoPro software does not support image transfers for any of their cameras except the Hero8 Black and Max cameras.

You can, however, control the camera with it. You may be better served by purchasing the camera only directly from GoPro in order to get a Manufacturer Refurbished unit with the full GoPro Warranty for refurbished cameras.

I use it not actually for sports or something extreme, but in the end it’s quite convenient to have a camera that is small and durable for everyday use. Especially for Vacations. -No video stabilisation, should be done on while processing the video after.

-Quite small amount of accessories is in the box, but there are bundles from china for it to cover -It comes with a case without glass for touchscreen access and most importantly it allows sound to be recorded, which by design is all good.

But it does not work, cameraman should grip the camera in specific places of housing without the transparent case in order to have decent sound, or to attach the external microphone. In this way the transparent case is not suitable at all.

-Quite small battery, 2-3 hours of recording without Screen on. Make sure you purchase additional ones for easy swap. -Not very convenient housing, you have to old it not the way other cameras as a Spyglass, but as a tablet or smartphone, by holding it long side to the filming area.

Consider Sony action cameras if this is an issue for you. +Recording Lights, Sounds and Touchscreen can be easily switched off. Very convenient on the concerts, especially if we compare to smartphone-recorder-people.

Yuck. +Recent firmware update has added linear FOV, where no fisheye effect is there. +Decent video quality with 60FPS +Durable and easy to use. Review was written when there is a Hero 5 and decent Sony cameras on market, but it’s price still makes the Silver 4 a decent purchase, especially while buying on holiday discounts.

Havent used any of the “mods” yet. Have put a lot of use into this durable little camera,mostly suberging it in water,clean pool or murky river water. And water is probably the only thing keeping it from catching on fire.

It heats up like a handwarmer. Battery charges very slow,unless you use a 45 watt or higher c type charger,its charges very fast,from 0 to 100% in about 20 minutes. As far as video quality it is great,but what camera can you find for $400 that has 5k video.

The video is incredible,if there is enough light. If it is dim or dark,forget it,its like recording with a potato. The auto shutter and iso setting is not the best adaptable for night,or day sometimes.

The time lapse for sky views is amazing,they are decent,but at night in the city even if it seems dark,its not dark enough,can get some stars and clear view of the trees nearby,still is amazing nights shots with the time lapse,but oddly not great at all for normal night video.

As far as the remote app features,it needs work. The app screen is not integrated with the sites,you just have to take the apps word that it IS streaming,and a LOT of patience,as the streaming options on the app are outdated and you have to work around and troubleshoot to even be able to stream,very broken and nothing on google pertaining on the issues but unresolved questions.

It’s just not consumer friendly,in addition to poor connenction if farther 3ft from phone,the streaming is far from reliable. I have tried using the gopro for twitch streaming but the connection is bad.

I bought a galaxy s22 ultra for faster processing speeds to compensate for lag,but its doesnt matter,since it only uses wifi or the phones data plan “hotspot”,it eats through data. I have Gigabit speed home internet with 2 asus ax3000 routers,but even so,the gopro barely recieves wifi signal.

With the phones hotspot as wifi,unlimited data plan,it slightly impoves,but not much,as there is a signal bar screen for streaming with wifi or hotspot,it never goes past 4 bars,and it has a total of about 25 bars to show signal strength.

For twitch it keeps bugging out on the “start stream” button with an almost inescable error,about not having the correct “game catergory”,which is usally just the title of the game your playing or whatever title you want,there shouldnt be any restriction but if you dont use a video game title,letter for letter,it will keep giving the error,and when you do have a right working title,you have to use the same title on the actual Twitch app FIRST by starting a stream on the twitch app,while having open the GoPro app open,and praying it hasnt exited you from the “start stream” page ,starting the stream from your phone on the twitch app then switching over to the gopro app while streaming,to avoid the error that will eneavitable delay you another 20 minutes,as you have to enter the wifi password on the app,everytime.

The GoPro 9 is a very good camera, I have taken some nice footage so far. I would give the camera itself 5 stars, what is my issue is trying to find a way of editing the footage that doesn’t entail signing up and paying for the privilege.

Especially since you can’t even try the prospective packages to see if they work or are easy to use or not. All of the ‘free’ software packages are only free trials. then you have to sign up and pay, pay pay! I would have thought, buying a camera, you would be able to at least use the footage, simple cutting and trimming, without having to pay a yearly subscription.

Had I known, I wouldn’t have made the purchase. Phones are so much easier to use and use the footage. So, my view is that the camera is awesome, but using the resulting footage, if you are not experienced with post production and the costs of being able to do it, is a terrible experience without any sort of guidance and everywhere you look to be able to achieve results are just ad after ad for subscribing and paying.

Very disappointing. Even the GoPro app isn’t supported on PC any more? I just want a simple means of cutting out the unnecessary bits of the footage, or joining desired scenes together. nothing fancy.

Unless you are a teenager or very cluey on technology (or willingto learn), and not worried about handing out money hand over fist to purchase subscriptions to different editing suites until you find one you can use, I would steer clear of these cameras.

Research the post production costs before you buy, otherwise, you will likely be left disappointed like myself. Unless I can work out how to edit and use the footage, I fear the camera, as great as it is, will be just a technologically advanced.

Viewers get to see the sport in the first person. This is powerful. Their advertisements work. When I was young, I saw GoPros on the heads, limbs, and equipment of my favorite athletes: mountain bikers like Brandon Semenuk, Sam Pilgrim, and Emil Johanson; surfers like John Florence, Noa Deane, and Mick Fanning; and Skiers like JP Auclair, Seth Morrison, and Tanner Hall.

These athletes have risen to the top of their respective sports, truly masters of their chosen art. GoPro recognized their influence and the control these athletes could have over the market. The company decided to use lifestyle branding to connect these action cameras to the abilities that suchathletes have.

I was enthralled and convinced that my videos would turn out like theirs. Twelve-year-old Nick saved up for a month by doing odd jobs. Then he went out and bought a used GoPro Hero 4 black. After my first mountain bike ride, I ran inside to watch the footage I had just recorded, and it was grainy, shaky, and frankly nauseating to watch for any length of time.

I was disappointed, to say the least. I ran to the Internet to see what I had done wrong. I watched videos on what frame rate and shutter speed to use, and I spent yet more money on a bundle of attachments to mount the camera in different locations.

After playing with the settings and moving the camera around, I was still disappointed. This is because the marketing worked. No matter what setting I used or where I placed the camera, it wouldn’t look like the advertisements.

This is because I wasn’t as skilled as the athletes I watched growing up, but also because GoPro ads are shot using thousands of dollars in peripheral equipment, gimbals, lenses, and drones. Most importantly they are edited professionally, so the colors pop, the video is stable, and the location looks even more appealing.

This means that the videos shown in their ads are unachievable because of user skill. This is even more so because of the camera’s real abilities. The consumer-level products just aren’t that great. I have since purchased newer GoPros in hopes that they have improved.

They have, but only marginally with slightly better stabilization and picture. So I stand by my position that the look of those ads is unachievable for a day-to-day consumer, like me.

I use it everytime I go to a store. Main reason I bought it. Set up is easy and video is truly high quality. Construction is perfect. I use a backing in my shirt pocket. It is a bit heavy but the pocket backing remedies that.

Since I have a CCW, it’s a great piece of mind. Something to think about for potential buyers. It comes with 4gb SD card and a usb card reader. Complete instructions. If your not tech savvy, have a loved one or friend set it up.

Highly recommend it.

Good product, but not the best. It’s good for the price and has good image and sound quality. If you need a mid grade body cam this could be for you. It’s fine for what I need it for. If you need super image quality, stabilization, etc.

, you will need to spend a lot more.

I’ve been through a dozen mini cams, micro cams, body cameras you name it. The battery always seem to be the limiting factor with 1-2 hours. Usually Im on amazon, but decided to poke around ebay using and ran into this torch like camera.

This body sticks last me nearly a full day on the job. cheers!.

The GoPro Hero 9 Black has been a real pain. The camera struggles very hard to update, I’ve had to restart updates many times when they havent gone all the way through wasting hours of my time. Downloading pictures and videos to my phone also takes hours and you cant leave the app not to mention the gopro’s screen will randomly go black if you dont touch it every so often(yes I turned the screen darking off in the settings it still does it) and then you have to start the download over.

I’ve tried to setup the “auto upload” feature many times and have never had success. And recently the gopro just randomly deleted over half of the videos and pictures I took while diving. Considering I make money off the videos it was quite devastating.

And “waterproof” is just a flat out lie I had mine break in a couple feet of water and it took months and a horribly long process to get a replacement. If you plan to use it underwater at all you need a waterproof case.

You also need to prepare to spend good money on extra batteries and chargers because it dies ridiculously fast. I’m not impressed when I’ve paid $500+ for this camera and accessories.

I have owned my Hero 9 for a couple moths now, and I really want to love this camera, but there are just to many issue plaguing it. I updated to firmware version 1. 52 (I believe) when I first got it, which was the latest version at the time.

When shooting in certain video modes, you could clearly see a vertical line going down the middle of the footage because one side of the footage was sharper/more colorful then the other. The GoPro support system is a joke.

The only way you get any support is via E-Mail that could take 2 to 3 days to get replies It’s more or so faster to get answers to your questions or issues you are having by posting comments on their community forums.

When I did this, I discovered there are a large number of users who had the same issue as I did. The vertical line issue was acknowledged by GoPro staff on the forums as far back as December of 2020.

On February 25th, 2021 GoPro released a new firmware for the Hero 9 to fix random bugs and the vertical line issue. I did not update the firmware, because a huge amount of users came back and said the issue was not resolved for them after the firmware update.

I am still on the first firmware version, because it is the only version that is stable for me to avoid this vertical line issue. Another issue I experienced that others are still complaining about on the user forums is that the extra GoPro battery charger that charges 2 batteries at once is not charging the batteries to 100%.

Sometimes it only goes to 90% or 95%. Again, the user forums have multiple complaints about this, with many users getting exchanges for new units that are still having the same issue. I got so frustrated with this camera’s issues, I stopped reading up on the forums.

I no longer am hopeful these issues will be fixed anytime soon. The customer support is just God awful, and the only replies GoPro team members leave on the forums is candid replies like ‘We are aware of the issue and working towards a fix”.

The reason why I did not return the camera is because it works for what I need for under the original firmware version, and after hearing so many positive things about GoPro for years, I bought a bunch of accessories for it when I ordered it.

Overall, when it works correctly, it’s great. Sharp, crisp footage, really solid audio for a built in mic, and plenty of shooting options in resolution and frame rates. But the issues it is plagued with are just too much.

This is my first GoPro, and it will be last.

why didn’t i buy a bluetooth camcorder? what was I thinking of? Sooner or later if you’re planning to record anything more than your nan playing bowls your gonna strangle yourself with the wire. the anticipation of it is enough to put you off doing anything more strenuous than mowing the lawn.

It’s a stupid design and I should have given it more than a seconds thought.

First one I ordered elsewhere had issues operating from battery after the first day so I returned it and ordered from B&H. The 2nd one arrived in totally different packaging which indicates the 1st one was an earlier release.

As I also recently discovered with my newly purchased Hero 9 Black, some recording modes unfortunately utilize the wretched HEVC h. 265 codec, which is a pain to edit. Many older CPUs and GPUs don’t have the hardware decoding ability so it will not work on such systems regardless of the software you install.

For instance one of my i7 machines could import and play it but the older i7 couldn’t even using the same software. The GoPro App will allow you to work with and export the footage, and Resolve 17, Lightworks Pro, HitFilm Pro (new version) and Vegas Pro 19 all can work with the footage to some degree.

Premiere Pro CS6 will not but apparently the latest rental CC version has a plugin for it. Capturing 360 video is an exciting new world and I’m looking forward to all the great things that can be done.

At the very least it replaces having 2 regular GoPros facing opposite directions. The quality is good and it comes with extra lens covers. This thing is so much fun I’ll likely buy another one when the price drops near discontinue time.

Absolute garbage and the employee sold it to us to just sell the product. After readint the safe guidelines it is clear the GoPro MAX is an unusable object. From every angle it says to DO NOT HANDLE DO NOT TOUCH DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT.

DO NOT THROW AWAY OR RECYCLE. DONT CHARGE FOR THE FULL ALLOTMENTS. dont plug into a wall. THE KICKER WAS DO NOT USE ON A HELMET???? Then what is the point of this at all. When it also says not to use in temps below 9°F which makes this impossible to use anywhere but Florida during the winter, and during the summer well you might completely out of luck, Becuase the GOPRO IS PRONE to overheating and starts over heating at 68°F and also is prone to heating damage while being plugged into the computer.

The other big issue is the lack of support from GoPro or any sources. The GoProMAX is not worth its weight as a paperweight (its lense may get scratched and they arent responsible for it. ) Its all just the worst.

The GoPro HERO9 is notably better but still holds the same major flaws of extreme temperature issues and unhandlability.

How to describe the Go Pro 360 Max. AH-HA! The most pitiful design of technology since the white Xbox 360. Here is why? 1. I don’t understand why it was given the name “MAX” when it’s predessors is compatible and has way more accessories than it.

2. I don’t understand why it was given the name “360” when it doesn’t display 360 footage correctly or at all from its camera on different computer types. Such as tablets, androids, etc even with the gopro quick app installed.

3. The battery life span is hilariously awful. I would compare it to a virgin man climaxing for the first time. Quick. 4. May somebody please tell me why the power button or on/off button is also the mode button that changes the camera mode aswell? I sure hope nobody hit the power button and leave it on time lapse mode and press record.

Your screwed and highly livid. 5. Why the cover for the battery, SD card, and USB wants to a loner? Seriously the cover wants to detach everytime you open it. It doesn’t want to stay committed to the camera as it should.

After a lot of search, comparing many action and 360 cameras, I decided to go with insta360 One X2. I’m still discovering using 360 camera because shooting and editing flow is very different from other “normal” cameras.

If you like editing and tweeting your photos and videos and enjoying the process, this camera will give endless possibilities of doing it, and it’s a lot of fun. Connecting the camera with my iPhone was very easy, fast and stable.

The app is very good and can do a lot with it. To clarify, I don’t consider it as a main camera. I have a dedicated mirror-less and a smartphone. This 360 is a great addition for the fun part and type of shots you can’t do with regular camera.

The only down side is the resolution, but under good lighting and for social media it’s enough and can deliver great results. If you have a main camera and you are not a pixel piper, this 360 camera can be a great addition for both fun and unique shots.

I do professional tours for various architects who survey existing buildings. Every time I get photos from someone with an Insta360 camera, I cringe. It doesn’t have a title field in the file and it has to be added manually.

That is in addition to the name of the photo which all cameras add to every picture, but not Insta360. The files are huge, the resolution is reported as 6040×3020 but the quality is not as good as those from six year old Samsung Q-ball cameras.

The date on the photos is when they are transferred from the camera to a phone. They are not the actual time the photo was taken. So, I can’t sort by title or date/time. I spend a lot of time fixing this issue.

I would not purchase one for myself and from what I see, I suggest you consider this issue seriously if your projects have dozens of photos.

I bought this couple years ago and when I initially used it had some issues where recording kept stopping in between and camera would get stuck but starts working after the restart. It became very frustrating.

I thought that this is a device that needs some learning curve. But it became more and more frustrating over the time. Now my camera is never connected. Keeps getting stuck as soon as it is turned on.

Talking back and forth with the customer care took over 2 months. They keep asking for the same video proof again and again. Stupidest things like turn on the camera, remove sd card and replace, remove battery and replace and all this they want recorded as proof that I actually did it.

After all that their solution is to send it to the repair center. They would not only charge for repair, which they don’t even tell the estimate for, they would charge for the 2-way shipping too. Worst part is the camera never smoothly worked for me once and all the money spent on it is equal to money down the drain now.

I don’t have problem in paying for the repair if atleast I know the estimate and have trust that I can get in touch with customer care if any problem arises. But it is impossible to get immediate responses and after 2 months of same chat with them I have no trust in their team whatsoever.

UPDATED: (see bottom) Purchased this camera for an important gig. a wing-mounted aviation video shoot. I was leery about battery life so I purchased two extra batteries and downloaded the GoPro WiFi app for my android cell phone.

Setup was a snap and it worked like a charm right out of the box. My sympathies to the engineers who had to build the Hero4 to marketing specs. They are the ones who get beat up when the know battery life issue impacts customers.

In my case the battery performance did not even qualify as sub-standard. It was abysmal. As a result, I missed all of the key shots on my storyboard. When set up to start the camera via WiFi (and shut it off after shooting) a fully charged battery lasted a total of 40 minutes after installation.

That included only 2 minutes of shooting, the rest of the time the camera was turned OFF via WiFi. To make matters worse, despite using two different mounts (a RAM mount and a VibeX) I could not eliminate the jello effect without using WIDE mode.

This mode is not acceptable in aviation since the distortion is anathema to pilots. I will try the GoPro on my Gaui 840 drone and if the gimbal supports it, will probably keep it. Otherwise, it goes to eBay (with a stern warning).

UPDATE: Switched from 3 to 4 stars. Turns out after doing some testing that my issue with battery life was a user problem. I performed some battery tests to determine precisely how long it would last.

I turned the camera WiFi on and placed my Samsung phone 8 feet away (the approx distance from Cessna cabin to camera on wing strut). I initiated the GoPro app on the phone and established a WiFi link to the camera.

I recorded for 5 minutes (medium view, 1060p) every 20 minutes. The battery lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes. I then replaced the battery and simply left the camera and phone connected via WiFi with the camera OFF.

This is often required when I want to video after flying to a distant site where there is no landing possibility. The battery still showed fully charged after 2 hours and 30 minutes. I terminated my testing at that point.

From the above I concluded that the reason the battery died so quickly was because I did not leave my cell phone ON. After turning on the camera WiFi prior to flight and making sure there was a connection to the phone from the cabin, I then turned OFF the camera via the GoPro app AND also turned OFF the phone (thinking it would somehow save camera battery life).

It seems that when the phone was off and the WiFi link was broken that the camera boosted WiFi power in an attempt to reconnect with the phone, draining the battery in the process. As a result, after only 40 minutes or so of flying, the camera battery was near exhaustion.

This Go Pro Black package is probably one the best deals you can get as a novice. The retail price just for the camera is about $500 alone. This package off of eBay allows you to test out less quality several 3rd party accessories for the same price as stand alone retail device.

The camera and software is easy to use and developed with lightweight and amazing image quality. You can shoot video, photos, time lapses with a number of useful options to create a visual and audio experience.

I will upgrade to get the official camera stick and remote control because the 3rd party stick produces too much unpleasant loud scratching noise to the camera speakers. The software is fun and easy to use after a quick tutorial.

Still have to be mindful about harddrive space the Go Pro uses. Even at 12MPs, videos will still consume 20-300MBs for 1 or 2 minute videos, and photos around 3-4MBs. Not as bad as most DSLR cameras, but still heavy on the Harddrive nonetheless.

I purchased the GoPro HERO4 Black recently because I’ll be going scuba diving in a few weeks and wanted to provide some video to document the trip. and be able to display it on my 4K UHD Samsung TV. I haven’t taken it diving yet, but after some playing around, was able to set it up so I can remote control it (view, start recording, stop recording) with a GoPro app on my iPhone 6S.

I recorded my son’s school awards assembly in 4K and it looked great on my TV. The camera is pretty slick, and there are so many attachments and mounts available that it’ll be a while before I figure them all out.

I did purchase an upgraded memory card as I read somewhere that the transfer speed on lower end memory cards won’t keep up with the amount of data required for a 4K 30fps video. I ended up with a 64GB Lexar Professional micro SDXC Class-10 UHS-II U3.

where the package shows it’s ideal for 4K and can transfer up to 150MB/s. I wanted to be prepared, but am not sure what I would see (or not) with the SanDisk card that came with the kit shooting at 4K.

I will certainly hold on to it as a backup or for those times I’m shooting normal 1080P video. So far, I’ve been very impressed and am looking forward to all the experiences I can get on video now that I own a GoPro HERO4 Black.

The stabilization and ability to edit on your phone is great. For the price, this camera takes some amazing video. Just make sure you check how full your phone storage is. If it gets too full, it can cause files to get corrupted.

The photo spins around until the 4 second mark and then it settles in place and 10 more seconds the video is finish working. Not happy with the item at all, if it worked correct then the quality would not be so bad but it a fuzzy upside down shot.

The gyro on the insta360 Go is stuck. When I fly, it’s sideways. The camera does not stay level. Very frustrating that it’s not working the way it’s supposed to work.
