20 Best Webcams For Macbook (2022 Updated)

My company purchased this camera for me to help ensure that we provided professional-quality video communication with our clients while we all worked remotely during the pandemic. I will give this camera at least some stars because the video quality of this camera is quite good for a small, screen-mounted camera.

However, after a full year of use, the negatives far outweigh the positives and I would personally never purchase this camera. And yes, I have stayed fully up-to-date with firmware updates (which is actually one of the issues).

1. Within the first few months, it started occasionally not being recognized by Teams or Zoom, so I would need to disconnect/reconnect in order for it to be recognized. Within 6-ish months (and still to this day), it ALWAYS disconnects in my first 1 or 2 video calls of the day, and requires repeated disconnecting/reconnecting and/or turning video on/off in Teams/Zoom.

2. When it’s not disconnecting, it’s freezing. This is not a Zoom or Teams issue as it happens with both, it does not happen with my coworkers who don’t use the Brio, and it is resolved by again disconnecting/reconnecting my camera.

3. Will also occasionally invert all colors or only show certain colors (everything will appear only blue and green). Resolved with disconnect/reconnect, but not the most professional delivery when you’re trying to lead an executive decision-making session for your clients.

4. The vast majority of the time, Windows Hello face ID will not work through the Brio, even though the description claims that it will. It will blink furiously as it tries to work, but nothing ever happens (except for when it miraculously started working last week for the first time in ~6 months.

but this week it’s back to not working). Unfortunately, Windows Hello settings are poorly designed, and it forces you into using whichever external camera is plugged in, which means that the Brio has effectively disabled Windows Hello on my machine.

5. Zoom setting won’t stay fixed. I set the zoom on my camera to be slightly tighter to provide a less-distracting background on video calls. It resets automatically at random points throughout the day, and requires me to reset it manually.

6. Logitech’s channel for distributing firmware and software updates is really confusing. When you go to the page for updates for this particular Brio camera, it’s really hard to tell whether the updates are for the camera or one of it’s numerous apps that they try to get you to install in order to manage various Logitech peripherals.

You end up accidentally installing apps that have nothing to do with this camera. And so far, the software and firmware updates haven’t corrected any of the above issues. Also, it would be nice to get notified by Logitech when updates are available.

I basically just randomly check their site to find out if they’ve fixed anything yet. I am using a Surface Pro 6 with Windows 10, fully updated (Windows updates have not seemed to make any difference with the Brio’s performance).

I have kept both the Brio’s firmware and the Logitech Camera Settings app fully up-to-date to try to alleviate these issues, but nothing has helped.

The Logitech Brio was easy to set up on a Mac. I just plugged it into a USB A port on my Ben Q monitor and attached it to an articulate arm. Then I connected the articulate arm to the stand of my Ben Q.

It all works great. I do not use the microphones as I have an audio interface and external microphone but the camera is clear, sharp and does a pretty good (but not perfect) job with color (bright saturated shirt colors or very dark shirts etc will throw it off a little, just like most webcams I’ve tried, but it’s not too bad.

) I use a LumeCube Go Panel over top of it on a separate articulate arm and another LED photo light in the room, so I can’t really speak for how it works in low light, but with plenty of light it’s great.

As I indicated, I bought this model because of its USB A cable connection into my receiving device (monitor) and also because of the 4kUHD resolution. I haven’t really checked to see if the 4KUHD is actually running during Zoom conferencing (I suspect it tops out at 1080p) but it it looks great on my end and even on a 31.

5 inch monitor. I am very happy with this webcam and so far have no complaints.

I really love this webcam! I bought the cheaper Logitech C920 Pro thinking it would be good enough for my Zoom sales meetings, but it didn’t adjust to the color of my face well and I looked a lot whiter than I am (which is already pretty white).

I needed something that would adjust to lighting in a more intelligent way. This camera is expensive, but given that I’m on zoom all day long, I think it was a worthwhile investment and I’m happy with it.

The 4k is nice to have, but I don’t actually use that resolution since zoom only supports HD. I’d say the cam is worth it just for the lighting and autofocus adjustments. The cam is also a really nice quality.

It’s metal, versus the cheaper versions being plastic. I also like the small white light it shows when it’s on. It’s subtle.

Solid video quality once you figure out which software you want to use. I do not recommend G-hub, it doesn’t have nearly the functionality of Creator. However, creator settings do not seem to stay enabled with other third party stream software.

Overall it’s a good camera for basic calls and streams, but definitely not pro level. Has very wide swings in lighting compensation from even the slightest change in light, but balances out quickly, it’s just extremely abrupt and overkill.

Mic quality is fine for occasional use in a pinch but I wouldn’t recommend it if you plan to use this professional for work or any income building video. It’s light and compact and has a nice adjustable cleat that gives you the ability to place it just about anywhere at any angle as long as that angle is vertical.

There is no horizontal adjustment in the cleat. If you use the included tripod, that solves that problem for you! I have purchased two of these for beginner level streaming and so far satisfied with it.

I would recommend to anyone looking for casual or entry level use. I can not in god faith recommend this to a pro.

Ive been using the older model the C920 for a couple years and it has served me well during that time. However, I needed to replace it because its starting to behave somewhat erratically and the C922 was at the top of my list.

The C922 has a 6 USB cord and comes with a mini 8 tripod and 3 month Twitch subscription good through the end of 2017. The camera has the same footprint as the previous C920 measuring 4 across, 1. 5 high, and 3 long.

On the front is the 1080p HD lens and on the sides are the builtin stereo mic. The status LED on the sides are white instead of the blue and cannot be disabled as on the previous model. On the bottom theres a 14 thread mounting hole for standard tripod mounting and the base splits open so that you can place the webcam over the top of a monitor or laptop screen.

The microphone was comparable to the C920 builtin mic but was somewhat quieter even though it seemed to filter out more background noise. At 1080p resolution, the max frame rate is 30fps, but at 720p you can go up to 60 fps, which is a new feature for this camera.

The autofocus is speedy and the auto brightness does a nice job keeping the brightness constant if light levels change. The focusing time is slightly quicker than the C920s performance, and there is little to no latency that I noticed in the recordings.

The colors appear more saturated and sharper than the C920 which tended to produce video that was washed out and had softer edges in the same recording conditions. I did try to test out the automatic background removal with Personify Chromacam, but unfortunately I never got it to work properly with OBS on my Windows 10 system.

It worked once, and during that test I was able to somewhat replace the background in my video with a green screen, but it wasnt entirely accurate and sometimes it removed my hair or didnt remove part of the chair if I moved around enough the entire screen would go to green screen.

After that one time Chromacam just kept crashing OBS when I opened it. I cant recommend the camera for that particular feature based on my experience with the camerasoftware. Im sure future update will fix this, since Ive been reading online, for now, the software is just really buggy and unreliable.

For me, its not a big deal since Im not a gamer and I wasnt really planning on using the feature for anything in particular. Overall, the C922 is a solid webcam and the video performance is slightly better than the C920.

If youre happy with your C920 and dont need a new webcam, I think you can skip this model upgrade. However, if youre definitely looking to get a new camera with clear and crisp video, Id pick the C922 over the C920.

Before I get started I should say that I’ve gotten spoiled by years of using a Sony FDR-AX100, so I’m used to 100MBPS 4K video from a camera with all the modern conveniences. I bought the C922 for use as a webcam so of course I scaled my expectations accordingly–and the C922 still delivered better than what I was expecting.

The biggest concern I had was whether this camera would actually do 1080p with OBS, whether the audio would sound any good, and whether the video would look any good. Short version: three for three. I will say–if you’re doing OBS, it will NOT work at optimum settings right out of the box.

You do have to do a little setup and configuration work in OBS itself once the camera’s connected, but after that you’re pretty much good to go. It IS easy to work with, the quality IS good, and as long as you have a decent amount of light, you won’t suffer from horrendous motion smear.

Definitely recommend buying one of these. I’ll gripe about the price because that’s a thing I do, but the reality is considering the quality of the camera it’s not a bad deal.

This is a good webcam, although some might find the field of view a little wide. It works perfectly on Linux. It’s big, but that’s because it has a decent sized sensor inside it. A nice feature is that it comes with a tripod mount and also can be mounted upside down or vertical easily.

It’s a bit odd that this camera comes with a USB-C connector, given that most people will be using it on desktop machines which still largely have USB-A (the rectangular ones). I plugged mine into my monitor as it has a spare USB-C port, but somehow when I moved the monitor it bent the connector and snapped the metal sheath off.

I don’t know if this is poor manufacturing on Logitech’s part, but I’ve never had a USB connector do this before. Star off for that. In the end I replaced the connector myself, but most people don’t have the equipment to do it at home.

The USB cable is actually modular, but Logitech don’t sell replacements.

So this webcam happens to be a bit more expensive than most. After being disappointed with my last Microsoft camera, I decided to jump the price range and give this a try, after all, the specs DID look attractive.

After a couple of weeks using it quite frequently, I must say I’m very happy with it. Image quality is indeed fantastic and better sensor (and I assume firmware shenanigans) make it really good even at quite low light levels.

I use Linux and it just plug-and-played with the generic video4linux drivers with no problem at all. I’ve used it for Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, OBS. all with no issues. I’m genuinely impressed. Whatever gripes I have with it are quite minor, and they are as follows: – The standard “monitor hook” stand does not offer the camera a lot of flexibility.

So although it’s easy to get it to point to where you want, it doesn’t really have any sort of “swivel” for immediate tweaking (i. e: it’s easy but you WILL need more than one hand and 2 seconds) – The camera is USB-C and the cable (which IS pretty beefy) is directly attached to the camera.

It’s got decent length but, with my particular setup it’s squarely in the grey zone between being the ideal length or not quite long enough. With USB-C extensions being trickier to find, this CAN be an inconvenience.

– It doesn’t have a physical cover for when it’s not in use And. yeah. that’s it. Three minor things which aren’t even really problems. I’ve sorted the cable and there is a n option tripod mount included if you want to replace the provided solution.

Really other than the price being a bit high in comparison, I have to scrape the bottom of the barrel here to find any complaints. Great stuff, really.

The Logitech Streamcam offers full HD and great colour at 60fps, which pretty much says all you need know if you want high quality non-jittery video. The camera is however, bundled with some brilliant downloadable software which is very helpful in order to run the camera at its best.

You can choose between frame rate or exposure priority, image stabilisation, auto white balance, 50 or 60Hz anti-flicker and even auto framing. Options to flip the image horizontally or vertically whilst streaming can be pre-set and there is even a picture-in-picture option for two camera sources.

You can also take snap shots of the screen or record a video. I found the autofocus feature great for moving around, whilst the 50/60 Hz antiflicker features to be the most helpful when dealing with indoor lighting.

The only hiccup was the clip-in mount which is intended for portrait or landscape shots. Whilst the camera clips easily into the two supplied mounts, which fit onto a tripod or the top of a screen, the mounts are a little loose.

This results in undesirable camera movement when the cord gets bumped. The cord is also a little on the short side and you may need a USB-C extension. Yes, I said USB-C. I had a spare USB-C socket, but most people with an older computer may not.

It’s easy to get an extension cord or an adapter, but to avoid frustration when you get the camera home, check out your system before you shop.

The video looks fine. It doesn’t seem to look much better or worse than my previous Surface Studio built in camera. What I don’t like about this camera is the mechanism for mounting it to the monitor.

If you bump or move your monitor the camera is not mounted very tight and you seem to have to adjust it periodically. Even when I close the safety flap to cover the lens it moves. I would have returned this but didn’t want the hassle and I needed something until I can find a suitable replacement.

In all fairness this could work better if your monitor shape is different. I use it with the Alienware 38 and the back is slightly curved so it proves to be a tricky angle for this type of attachment mechanism.

I tell him for Cumstomer Services Logitech 4K quality but he oders wrong staff and Moving my head slightly forward or backwards where the screen will change the lighting on my face EVER so slightly will cause the webcam to autoadjust the lighting of the whole image very drastically.

It almost looks like a lightning show. So dont move too much if your whole cam view isnt superevenly well lit. I put away my 2 studio lights to reduce the overwhelming light while gaming and streaming since I put away my green screen and bought a big light ring instead.

I have to put the light on the nearlowest setting or else my face is just a white spot. I wanted to use the background blur feature from chroma cam cause it was a listed feature The C922 can do it but apparently the Brio dropped support for it.

You can use the autobackground removal in Streamyard or OBS but you wont be able to change any settings and its pretty bad unless the whole image is completely well lit. The C922 will let you choose many settings though and has proper chroma cam support.

There is a setting that is on by default and is automatically set back on every time you reboot. It is called Low light compensation. You probably want to disable this because you will either be well lit and not need it, or be partially well lit and your cam will drop to 5 fps at times.

This setting cannot be disabled from the logitech webcam software. Youll have to access the webcam settings through thirdparty software streamyard OBS or an older version of the logitech webcam software.

Make sure you only have 1 cam installed or you wont be able to access the Brios settings. I was using 2 cams and the older software could only see my old cam until I uninstalled it completely. If you want to change the setting, just use Streamyard,add a video capture device source, select brio and then click properties Change video settings on the source and it will popup some extra settings for your webcam.

A lot of the options you wont want to touch as when you manually move them, none of the values on the slider will actually be close to what the auto option does.

I purchased the Facecam the day it was announced, and received it within three days, so a star for getting it faster than was estimated. As for the quality I am beyond satisfied. The lens cap is great for keeping things private if you leave the camera connected.

The real treat is how configurable it is through the software, and not having to set the settings. Every. Time. Is a godsend. Even in the automatic settings things look decent, but the real magic comes when you dial all the settings in just right for your streams, which is easy! It’s big enough to feel substantial while not being overly heavy.

The build quality is good and the USB-C cable being detachable makes placing it easy as well. Need a longer cable? Swap it out with a longer one. I have seen it lose settings but the most recent firmware made it stable under Windows 10.

I did lose settings after upgrading to Windows 11, but it wasn’t painful to dial everything back in. I have had to reset it by pulling the USB-C cable out after the software didn’t see it in Windows 11.

Still hasn’t been a dealbreaker to me. I consider myself to be a hobbyist streamer. I think that this camera was well worth the cost to add the quality to my stream. It’s leaps and bounds better than any camera I’ve used in the past.

The on-board image processing helps enough that the video is constantly crisp. The fixed focus is a great thing too so the camera isn’t trying to find the right point to focus on. 1080P 60 is the perfect resolution when you consider the camera view is shrunk down on streams but it maintains its fidelity.

Truly this is the first Elgato product I’ve purchased that I’ve felt is worth more than what I paid for it.

TLDR: I run the IT department for the company I work for and I’ve been ordering these for my coworkers and execs. One of opted for the Sony Brio. Guess which one had the worst auto white balancing and exposure issues.

Physical: It’s a big boy compared to the Sony Brio, but it does some with a piece of plastic to cover the lens for privacy. Software: Elgato software dumps on Logitech by miles. I’ve always used Logitech, but they take the L here.

Camera hub lets you manually change almost every aspect from contrast, shutter speed, iso, white balance, and many more. The auto function is okay, but still much better than the brio Video quality: It’s superb.

Best on the market right now besides running a DSLR setup at nearly quadrupole the cost. You get a full 1080 60fps and you will notice it right away. Sony sensor + great software is potent combination.

Handles low light well and the colors always look natural. Final thoughts: Wish it used USB-C instead of USB 3. 0 as I use this primarily for my work Zoom meetings. I have to run an adapter and it won’t work with my monitors KVM function.

Also, the settings I saved on the facecam for my windows machine were kept and brought over to my mac. Guess it’s got some internal memory? Either way, it’s really nice feature and makes it easier for me to switch stations around and not have to reconfigure things.

Purchased this product, went to take it home, got it to set up where I wanted, then installed updated software that is required to use. It worked the first time after one use then when I unplugged USB from 3.

0 port while moving other cable wires and USB ports around, it hasn’t worked since. I’ve tried switching to multiple USB 3. 0 ports, reinstalled Camera Hub (Required to use) software including downloading older versions, followed technical support guide on Elgato Support website, Uninstall all USB Ports then reconnecting after restarting computer, and used different softwares thinking maybe it should be ready to go as long as settings are set the way it should be.

All steps I’ve tried and the amount of time researching on solutions wasn’t worth it. I also tried switching to different USB 3. 0 to USB-C wires since there have been multiple reports on other customer’s purchasing this product, but not working at all due to the USB cable cord (Included with product) being “defective”.

It’s very unfortunate a device being this good in quality doesn’t work right and spending unnecessary amount on spare cables shouldn’t be needed. I was looking forward on using this device instead of Logitech camera.

Don’t have any other options left so leaves me no choice but to return product back to the store and switch to another similar high quality product from another brand name.

I pick one of these up while I was building a better zoom/Microsoft teams set up. I wanted something with better video quality than the built in webcam of a laptop while being as simple to use as possible.

The c920s exceeded my expectations in all ways. Zoom and teams picked it up right away and the autofocus does a good job of keeping you in focus despite any movement you might have while at your desk.

The low light abilities were a pleasant surprise as well. I was expecting video quality to fall apart pretty hard outside of optimal lighting conditions but the camera was able to compensate pretty well for my less than ideal room lighting.

The quality loss at night or in a dark room would probably be less than ideal but for my use case (general use during the day with sun coming in from my side and overhead lights in the room) it works pretty well.

There are a couple downsides however. The integrated mics are not great and if your budget can stretch to a dedicated microphone as well then that’s definitely the way to go, they sound alright but their pickup pattern is so wide that any other noise in the room along wit you gets picked up.

More significantly (but also easier to deal with in some ways) Logitech’s Capture software is not very good. It’s functionality is alright but the way it’s laid out and its responsiveness makes changing settings and seeing their impact a hassle.

Fortunately you can skip it entirely if you’re using the webcam with stuff like zoom and teams. Windows picks it up right away and it shows up in their options menus without any additional set up. That last part was of critical importance to me.

One of the primary users of the system it would be part of is my elderly father so having to fiddle with settings menus regularly would be an immediate disqualifier. We’ve been running this webcam for a little under a month now and I can happily report there have been zero issues.

After my initial set up (and a little fine tuning in the settings of zoom/teams) it’s worked flawlessly since then.

I took the leap from the integrated camera to this. logitech. com/en-us/software/capture. html 3) Auto focus is good – quick response time 4) Is it HD? – pretty close when the lighting is right. When i am doing formal/work calls, I put a small night-table lamp right next to my laptop/monitor so that it’s in front of me brightening my face.

That makes quite a bit of difference. Don’t need the fancy LED ring lamp. i also prefer the warmer glow of a regular bulb/lamp. 5) Field of View 78° – i find that it is just right for me. the wider capture does not make me look squished in, and it’s not so wide that things start to warp.

6) Dual mics- “loud and clear” was the feedback from the other folks on the call. (P. S. I wasn’t yelling, just the same as in normal face-to-face conversations) 7) The hanging clip/hook works fine for me.

I have tried it on the desktop monitor as well as different laptops, it’s minimal effort making the adjustment. 8) The shutter is just a nice little bonus 🙂 All in all, though this is double the price of the basic models, it’s definitely worth the while if the budget is flexible.

With this webcam, i don’t think i would go for any upgrade anytime soon, so that’s savings in itself.

Unfortunately, most laptops don’t have great webcams. The one on my new Lenovo is ok, but not great by any means. Now that I’m doing more Zoom and Team meetings I felt the need for a much better webcam.

After reading a number of tech reviews on the subject I decided on Logitech and one of their models. I wanted a 1080 cam, but also didn’t need a 4k one. Seemed that the C920s fit the bill and was reasonably priced.

Best Buy had the best price on the unit at the time I purchased it. so I went ahead and purchased one. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and am not at all disappointed. The picture is clear and crisp (which after all is the most important aspect of getting one of these) and the audio, from what people tell me, is excellent.

It has two microphones on either side of the lens and they pick up my voice perfectly. One thing I like is the built in (but removeable) security cover for the lens. The clamp works fine and seems to set the camera up in a good position without too much jockeying around.

It has the option of being set up on a tripod if the end user wants as well. The one thing I wish it did have was a removeable cable. The USB cable is permanently attached to the back of the cam. The angle of view is perfectly fine and it seems to focus very quickly when I move around.

At least I haven’t had any issues with that aspect of it. You can get software to adjust the webcam via the Logitech website. I found the software to be elementary, but good enough to do the job. The blue led lights on either side of the lens lets you know the cam is on and operating.

I have found this to be very helpful as well. All in all, I really like the webcam and can recommend it based on my personal experience. Granted, its not a $200 webcam, but it does the job and does it well.

While its auto-focusing and image quality aren’t the best out there, the 1080p resolution proved to be a decent balance between clarity and not putting too much strain on the internet capacity. The compact design makes it really easy to stow away everyday and quickly prop up when needed.

A downside to its form factor though is the inability to horizontally tilt the camera, which in my case often means I need to swivel my entire monitor to get the desired horizontal angle. A detachable cable would also have been nice: that way I can keep the usb end plugged-in at all times and only set up the camera part when needed, instead of digging into the back of my PC to unplug the usb everytime I want to put the camera away (I could of course just leave it there, but something about that webcam sitting on top of a perfectly neat and rectangular monitor when not in use, just makes it stick out as an eye sore.

It’s pure placebo/OCD but I’m sure this applies to many others out there). The cable is a bit of a chore in my use case. From my admittedly non-expert experience, the logitech in-house software (called LogiCapture or something like that) is pretty simple to navigate and has useful functions, HOWEVER the software becomes recognised by the PC as sort of a virtual camera as its own entity and can easily make your browser/meeting software confused and unable to access actual footage.

So it takes some effort to understand the technical arrangements arround that IF you choose to use the software which, as mentioned, has some useful extra features like exposure or image size adjustment.

Overall though, it’s quite handy for its price, especially for someone like me who has occasions that absolutely requires a webcam yet do not need it everyday hence justifying a higher price investment.

Recently, we bought the C920 for me, and moved our older C910 to the GF’s laptop so she can do telemedicine video calls with a clearer image and better color than her laptop’s built-in webcam. Been testing the C920 on my ACER laptop (with an Intel Core i5 dual-core cpu) and on our main PC (with an Intel Core i5 quad-core cpu).

Happy to report it works equally well on both. The camera seems to have a chip inside which processes the video in H. 264 format, so your computer’s processor doesn’t have to work hard to handle it. Good lighting is always the way to go with any webcam, yet the C920 can produce very acceptable results with less than ideal lighting.

HINT: Set the background on your monitor screen to use it for lighting. In Windows, right-click on an empty area of the screen and select “Personalize”. In the new window select “Solid Color” and choose White or maybe amber if you want a warmer tint on your skin.

Keep your video chat or other window fairly small so you’re getting a lot of that screen lighting on your face. This is useful anytime, but especially at night, for example. Getting enough light on your face ensures that the webcam’s auto-focus works properly.

If you’re sitting in poor light with a lamp somewhere behind you it makes auto-focus less effective. Remember, low light always reduces the webcam’s frame rate so if you don’t want jerky video put on some light!Regarding privacy, covering the lens is fine, but what about the microphones? If someone is hacking your camera they can still hear every word you say even if the lens is covered.

There are a couple of options: 1. Unplug the webcam when it’s not in use. 2. Disable the webcam and, separately, the microphone, in Device Manager. Just a word about Logitech’s overall quality. Over the last 8 or 10 years we’ve owned a Quickcam Ultra Vision, a C270, a C525, and a C910.

They’re all still in good working order. Even the ancient little low-res ball shaped Quickcam still works. The point is Logitech quality is reliably good. The C910 has the Zeiss glass lens + stereo mics and produces high quality results in any decent lighting situation.

The current C920 is very similar and uses H. 264 format for quality and acceptable file size. The C920 also has a wider field of view. What about their Logitech Capture software app? It has all the usual adjustments plus picture-in-picture controls, chroma key, and more.

Definitely worth a look if you’re not quite ready for OBS or others. If you have a special need there are more expensive webcams that offer 60 frames-per-second or even 4K resolution (Logitech Brio springs to mind here).

If that’s you, be prepared to optimize your system with some pro-quality lighting, microphone, background, etc. Ultimately, Logitech C920 remains the most popular choice in high quality webcams even after eight years on the market.

Time tested and approved.

I am so glad I waited in order to get this webcam. Granted it’s a lot more expensive than the many advertised that look similar or give similar specs. However from the moment you open the packaging, the quality of construction of this camera speaks for itself.

Solid metal, soft plastics, a versatile but well made bracket including tripod mount, stereo mics, clear film protecting not just the front transparent window but even the shiny gloss plastics. It’s a lot smaller than I expected, just an inch or so high and maybe 5 inches wide.

It feels pretty solid though but it is quite light. The cable length is generous, maybe 1. 5m? There’s no software though or instructions in the box, but on a Mac with OSX catalina it was plug and play, it just worked straight out the box.

I did though download the Logitech Capture and Camera Settings software from the Logitech website which enables you to adjust the resolution, zoom and pan, adjust colour, temperature, sharpness and so on.

Compared to the built in 720p camera on my iMac this is noticeably improved, excellent picture quality, natural colours, excellent low light performance and autofocusing. It’s nice that you can disabled the autofocus with the app and manually focus if required.

Although I don’t tend to use the built in mics, theydo sound great and in stereo. Excellent wide view, no visible distortion and works equally well on the Windows 10 PC with Teams – again no software installation required.

Definitely a class leading webcam and really pleased.

I purchased the C920 webcam to replace a C910. The C910 was a brilliant webcam and I had hopes for the C920 but sadly no. It doesn’t come with any software and the Logitech site (rebranded Logi) is incredibly hard to negotiate.

I have spent the best part of a day trying to find Logitech drivers for the webcam. Microsoft’s default UVC drivers work but it’s not clear what functionality you are missing when using them. Given that I don’t have the correct drivers perhaps the following comments are not valid but that’s the current situation: 1.

I’m not impressed with the video quality and not sure it’s truly HD. 2. Low light performance is poor. 3. The picture is not stable, it flickers and 50% of the time reverts to black and white needing to exit the application (Zoom, OBS) and restarting the app.

The classic webcam, Logitech’s C920. I’m not sure, but this might be the most popular webcam ever sold. With COVID-premiums coming down, this is an excellent performance-value balance. Field of view is 78 degrees, great for many but I’ve since migrated to 90 degree cameras, or even true video cameras (with USB adapters) with wider views again.

After a while, you might find the 78 degrees limiting unless you’re primarily just pointing it at yourself within 3-4 feet. These are also auto-focus, a basic but essential feature I think, and not all cameras have that yet.

I don’t really need the 1x digital zoom, but if you do, this camera is falling behind some newer Logitech models which can zoom-in considerably more. The image quality is very good in most light, but while its spec sheet says “low light to sunlight”, you should not expect amazing performance in a dark room.

You will be relying on light shining off of you from your computer screen, and it doesn’t do a great job with the camera these true low-light scenarios. There is a 1/4″ thread for tripod mounting, which may not be needed for most, but nice to have that option, depending upon how you mount camera.

If using two monitors, for example, you’ll find the clip-on clamp sets the camera to point at the angle & tilt of the monitor which is often not ideal. You have to move yourself in your chair, but then find your background no longer lines-up.

Tripods get around this, hence you might eventually need that tripod thread. Overall, still a great camera, but look at the spec sheets for other C9xx cameras if you’re thinking of investing in a camera for today and for the future.

There are other features the C920 doesn’t have which are starting to make this model ever-so-slightly dated compared to peers like the C925e, C930, Brio, and 4K. They cost more, and may not be worth it for everyone, but they are all generally better too.

The camera we received did not work. It would not focus properly. We could get it to change focus, but never enough to be IN focus. We tried to look on You Tube to see videos and tried several fixes, but nothing worked.

We ended up sending it back and got a refund. Not sure if it’s a one-time lemon situation or if that’s common. Also, I’m not sure it is always the case, but the retailer we bought it from through the Walmart website sent it to us NOT in a retail package.

It was just in a box by itself with no manual or anything – just bubble wrap. I think it was a non-retail version of the item. Please be aware that you may not be buying an item from Walmart itself, but from a third-party seller.

This Razer Kiyo webcam is early to connect and attach to a monitor or put on a stand or tripod and mainly works as expected. I was a little disappointed with it, after reading many good reviews. First of all, I found the resolution disappointing.

Somehow I expected a HD (1080p) resolution, but this camera is only 720p and it’s noticeable during meetings using Microsoft Teams. The image is not very clear. Secondly, the ring of light around the camera works as specified, but to be useful I needed it set quite bright, which means you’re looking into a bright ring of light during meetings, distracting from the images on your screen.

Setting it to warmer and more pleasant light also makes it less bright which is both a plus and a minus. Thirdly, and most annoyingly, the Razer software to be downloaded for the camera contains a component which Microsoft Defender on my (work) computer insists contains a virus and no matter how hard I instruct my anti-virus software to ignore and accept it, it will not install or run.

I assume it’s a false positive, but I cannot get past it. There is no clear instruction on their website on how to resolve this, and the software is downloaded fro Razer’s site itself. This is very annoying.

Worked great out of the box on old or new PCs. Easy enough to set up for those that aren’t computer savvy since it’s plug and play. Razer does provide a utility for power users to tweak things. It was less expensive than other equivalent cameras without a light, and the light makes a difference.

The light can be dimmed or turned off by turning the dial around the light. There is a microphone in it, and initial testing showed the picture and sound quality are good. Has some weight to the base so it can also sit on a shelf.

Only thing I’d change is the cable could be longer. You may want to use an extender cable or USB 3. 0 hub to reach a desktop tower that’s not next to the mounting location. So happy with the purchase and price that we bought a 2nd for the other PC.

Haven’t tried it on Mac or Linux, but works great on Windows for Zoom, Teams, or any other conference software.

I wanted a better webcam than the built-in 720p one on my work laptop and was intrigued by the ringlight on this. I doubted it would be as good as my standalone light, but the fact that it was built-in and didn’t need another power supply was a big plus.

On initial install with the default drivers, you’ll think it’s OK – it’s got a wide (too wide?) field of view and the picture is better than most default webcams, but it can get so much better! Unfortunately, this means you need to install Razer’s software which also requires an email address/login.

I don’t think it’s a big deal since I had it installed already, but if you’re concerned, just have a separate email you use for spam, lists, etc. So after installing Razer’s software, now you can adjust the camera’s parameters like zoom (to focus more on your face than the background!), white balance, color, etc.

I got it set up perfectly then switched to Webex and Zoom to test it. It was great and a huge improvement over the default webcam. The ringlight is nice, but it’s not as bright as the separate one I had mounted on the desk.

Again, the pro is that it’s now just one USB cable vs. a separate light, stand, and power supply. NOTE – after setting your camera as desired, don’t use Window’s “Camera” app to check it. It will reset all of your camera settings.

If you want to check it, set it up using Razer’s software, then check it out in your Webex, Zoom or other app since there’s typically a video test or self-view.
