20 Best Wedges For Beginners (2022 Updated)

Played these for almost a year now , about 40 rounds. Try to ignore reviews where they state right out of the box or played once and love them. Let’s hit them for awhile and really know the results. I love these irons.

Knew because of loft would be hitting one club less , 8 has replaced 7 and so on , but man these things fly. The 5 iron , nicknamed rocket , is now my driving iron. Being a senior golfer and play form the senior tees do play some par 4s that are less than 340 yards.

Well hello Rocket , so far has maxed out at 231 , averaged off tee 215-220. They are so solid , much easier to hold solid through contact. Slice is now a rarity , wish I could say non existent. Sound off impact is clear solid and refreshing.

Have read some reviews about holding their finish , mine have held up great. I play public courses so terrain not always the best , but mine have held up very well. Made such an impact on me and results one of my golf partners now owns a set and loves them.

They are beautiful irons that fly true straight and long and really help this old body when it doesn’t fell like helping.

Acquired the SIM Max #7 Rescue club about six months ago to replace my (Callaway Strata Ultimate 7 iron with a 34degree loft), which has proven very difficult for me to hit, as a beginner, of two years.

The SIM Max Rescue club allows me to hit 130 yards, or so, with way more ease and accuracy than the evil 7 iron. Yesterday, the recently ordered SIM 2 Max #3 hybrid arrived. Tomorrow, a regulation 18-hole course with this new club is highly anticipated.

The Callaway Strata Plus #3 fairway wood that I’ve been using has worked well for me. However, due to the good success with the #7 SIM Max Rescue club, it will be nice to see how well the #3 works for me.

The SIM2 Max #3 has 19 degrees versus 15 degrees with the Callaway Strata Plus 3 fairway wood. Hoping for straighter shotsy from the fairway with a little more loft and more success, with longer shots form the rough, with this new club.

Recently cracked the face on my gamer, Adams black super hybrid and was looking for a similar more rounded shaped hybrid which is rare. I tried out the Apex, Apex Pro, Sim2, Sim2 Max, G425, Tour Edge C721, and TSi2 hybrids.

Out of the bunch, I liked the G425 and the regular Apex because they are extremely forgiving but was not a fan of their iron-like looks. I was close to purchasing a regular Apex but randomly came across this club and was convinced by all the great reviews.

They weren’t lying! The biggest reason to buy this club is that it sits flat and a touch open making it much harder to hook than any other hybrid I have tried. Even adjustable hybrids often have more weight in the heel or a lot of offset making them hook monsters.

Also for a “pro” hybrid this club is extremely forgiving and has a large enough sweet spot for all handicaps. This club launches high and straight, with a true flight (no ballooning) and has a great muted sound/feel.

The stock KBS shaft is also perfect for this club. It feels very stable and is so well balanced that is it hard to overswing. It should be noted that the shaft lengths are a bit shorter compared to other models out there so you may see a slight decrease in distance compared to your current hybrid.

The Mavrik Pro 3 hybrid is 40″ compared to the Sim2 Max 3 hybrid which is 40. 75″. I prefer the shorter shaft because it fits in better with my iron distances and is a bit easier to control but some people may prefer more distance oriented hybrids.

The Mavrik Pro is like a combination of the regular Apex and the Apex UW but half the price since it is a year older. I purchased my mine with the current 25% discount for $115 in “like-new” condition which is an absolute steal for the performance.

Not sure how this club flew under the radar but I guarantee, you will not be disappointed!.

Received the club by post as expected, within timetable stated. Fully boxed and in perfect condition. Have been using another brand driver for the past 5/6 years and due to ageing have lot some metres.

This Mavrik (great name by the way) came with a seniors shaft as ordered. As soon as I held the club it had great feel, comfortable and felt great in the swing. No practice but was out competing against my mates the very next day.

First drive was out of the centre, straight and directly to my target. In fact as I was aiming fairway left I found the ball had gone through the fairway by about 10 metres. Unusual I thought. During that first 18 holes I missed (mishit as was over did the swing speed) only 2 fairways.

I have now used the club in 3 rounds and without doubt I have added between 30/40 metres onto my normal driving distance with the old competitors club. I am nearly overwhelmed with the accuracy and definitely overjoyed with the distance I have gained.

Helped break my handicap in 2 out of the 3 round. A fabulous possession right there. Recommend to all ageing golfers, if using a regular shaft, go grab a Mavrik.

Being a little older now I was looking for a driver with R flex shaft to replace my 909-D2 stiff shafted driver. I read reviews on some of the items on sale. When I saw the review of the shaft in the Mavrik it sounded like a good fit.

I purchased the club – 10. 5 degrees, and left it set at standard loft, etc. The club looks great at address. I have hit stiff shafts in the past because R flex shafts felt too whippy, and the club face too hard to control.

This club has none of that for me. I hit 5 or 6 drives at the range before teeing off the day I bought it, and was amazed at how light it feels, but never feels like the club head is out of sync. During the round I hit drives longer than the 909-D2 with much less effort, which was one thing I hoped for at my age.

The biggest issue I had was remembering to slow down so I could keep a consistent swing path through the shot. I could tell where the ball was going to go easily by the way it felt off the club. Love the sound on flush hits, but mostly it feels like a club I can make a great drive with and not have to muscle it through the swing.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Bought the 52, 56 and 60. All work great and just look good to stand over. Cant beat the price. Only complaint was the packaging. All came in a flimsy box with no packing that was destroyed by time it got to me.

No damage to clubs luckly. All other clubs i ordered came packed much better in higher qaulity boxes so must just be a different warehouse.

Bought this club for store pickup. When I received the club it looked like it had been played with for multiple rounds. Giant scratch across the whole club face. Go in to return and half the clubs don’t have the plastic covering the head any more.

The response I got was that they let people try them out in store and they can get scratched up because of it. I will not be purchasing any clubs from them again because of this. Do yourself a favor and buy your new club somewhere else.

I had both Cleveland and Calloway wedges and struggled getting under the ball with both of them, especially on Florida winter hard pan. I started with the 60 and loved it. I was able to pick the ball off hard pan constantly.

I then tried the 56 for longer lobs and for the traps. I was sold and then bought the 52 to fill the remaining gap. I’m now playing in Ohio grass and roughs and still loving these wedges. My Cleveland and Calloway wedges are now in my guest bag.

The title of the listing reads brand new. All of the wedges show signs of being hit. I can see scratches from ball marks on the faces and paint rubbed off the numbers on the bottoms. On top of that, All of the grips are way off center and feel worn down.

Im sure theyll be fine once I regrip them though. *Edit* grips are not off center. They just arent to my liking and need replaced ASAP. All in all. Pretty disappointing. My friends have these same clubs from Costco and none of them were in this condition when they got theirs.

Bought these for my husband. He has tried them on the driving range. They will take time to get used to. He was very pleased with the weight and quality of the clubs. They were very well packaged too.

The rumors are true. These Costco wedges are the real deal. At retail price, they are a great deal. The ones I received looked like they had maybe seen a few rounds of golf. Great deal!

These wedges are awesome. They provide accurate feedback through the hit zone. Excellent for chipping it close. Surface of the wedges bite into the ball to provide lots of backspin to throw it close to the hole.

Great for any level player.

Was a bit unsure as they were so cheap brought these during lockdown and actually managed to break them out on the course today. Not disappointed well weighted and feels comfortable. Reduced my number of shots for the day.

Clean finish. Feels good on off center hits. Gives a lot of forgiveness. Lob, sand or gap gives great height and stops quick.

It is good quality product, but it probably will work for smaller (probably female) armpits. My height is 182 cm. and the pads are not covering whole area, so my shirt was still wet (of course less than without the pads).

Also in case of sensitive skin, it may feel discomforted by the end of the day. Despite the abovementioned, the product as I mentioned, is made out of good materials and sticks firmly to the skin during the day.

Nice club for $25. I’ve been using an old Arnold Palmer sand wedge for the last 20 yrs, and finally decided to update my wedge. I’m glad I’d made the purchase because the Pinemeadow wedge is pretty good.

Definitely recommend this brand for simple wedges like P, G, S, and L.

First of all I was surprised that Walmart would carry golf clubs, let alone the Pinemeadow brand! I needed a sand wedge to complete the set of clubs I received for my birthday and low and behold I saw this club! The club is a fine representative of Pinemeadow golf and all my buddies are impressed with how well they are made for the cost.

From 40 yards out you cannot over shoot the green. Takes some practice figuring out chip shots around the green, but once you find your grip and shorten your swing this thing makes it easy to get up and down with a nice stick to finish it off.

It honestly makes your short game so much easier. Other than the occasional blading, I tend to lift my head, this thing is awesome. Everyone should have this club in their bag. Choke up and swing away for the best height you’ve ever has around the green.

This club takes the fringe conditions out of the equation, easy to get under the ball, since there’s no heel. It’s like hitting pop ups to infielders. Absolutely the best $35. 00 you can spend on your short game.

If you are like me, you are playing golf to relax and enjoy a sport, this club takes away the stress you have felt in the two shots it took you to get to the green. Bogie Golf is enjoyable golf in my opinion, and this club will put you in more par situations.

Is a poor product. Bought a pinemeadows golf putter just over a year ago. They will not stand behind it. Iron on head snapped.

First of all, shipping time was really fast on this item, which is why I like to use Walmart. com. I haven’t been able to use this club yet, due to the fact that it’s been too cold, but I looked at the club when I got it and checked it out.

It looks really nice. It has a nice feel and look. The length seems good, too, for an average-height person. The best part is the price. I did some research on these clubs, and this is one of the few companies that I could find that make this exact size wedge.

For the price, you can’t beat it. Now I just can’t wait to get on the course and try it out.

Upgraded from Callaway x forged wedges and these are even better! Solid feel, consistent distance and flight. Plus they look gorgeous. I got 52,65,60 in mid grind (2dot). I would say if you like to open the face and add loft, you may want the 1 dot set.

Overall, these have solid feel that just breeds confidence. I am making many more greens from full wedge distances. Worth every dollar.

Excellent wedge. Been playing WG 706 wedges. Hard to put down. These wedges have a great feel, well balanced, and don’t feel like a chunk of lead. lighter than some and still getting used to them. I’ll need to upright the lie but that is about it.

About ten yards shorter than my current but didn’t buy them for distance. Budget Golf has authentic gear. you won’t go wrong with these clubs but check the swing weight for you. May be too light for some.

Cleveland wedges represent a sleeper deal for the discerning golfer. Excellent performance, top notch design, forged steel and at a drop dead price. Look to theses 1-2 generation back wedges fir a great option.

Overall very happy with the 3 wedge set. For the price and quality it would be hard to find a better deal. I’ve had the Costco/Kirkland wedges (which are probably the closest in competition) and prefer the Stix.

Especially since you can get custom lengths. Have played a few rounds with them so far. First impressions- feel and look great. Decent amount of spin on the greens. Finish seems okay some minor scratches when hitting out of sand (no less than I have seen with other black wedges).

Seem to carry slightly longer and higher than other wedges (likely due to graphite shaft and part of reason I wanted to try them). Weight distribution feels smooth and easy to hit variety of shots. Moderate looking bounce angles.

Grips were okay, just a basic rubber grip that will suit most players and last awhile. Overall the looks and feel of the wedges inspired confidence at address and preformed as expected. I was hesitant at first given the inability to see in person prior to buying.

The 30 day trail helped my decision. Things for Stix to consider: -Add bounce angles to description -Be more transparent with shipping estimates -Change red line on wedge face to white -Consider steel shaft option and grip upgrades in the future.

Choosing, ordering, paying and getting the clubs are perfectly well organised. Packing and first Look are fenomenal. As it is still Winter time over Herr in Switzerland there hast been no chance to hit the clubs outside and an real turf yet.

First impression on hitting them in a simmulator is good. The grips might be a little thin and that there is only one shaft option are the only downsides yet. I m looking forward takeing the clubs out on the course.

Mails and Infos after getting the clubs made more than a professional impression and the idea of beeing like a team membre of the Stix family sounds like cool.

I ordered the 3 piece wedge set (52,56,60). When my clubs finally arrived I was disappointed to find that the 52 degree was not the right length. It was about 1 inch shorter than the 56 degree. For those of you who do not know, the lower the loft = longer shaft.

I immediately sent an email to customer support and within 24 hours I had a response saying that they had put a priority order in for me to get a new 52 degree at the proper length at no cost. They also said I could keep the 52 degree that was not the proper length.

I was very pleased with their customer service. After receiving the proper 52 degree I went to the range to test the clubs out, and also played a full round where I was able to use all 3 wedges. Not only do these clubs look great but they are quality and easy to hit.

I had no problem hitting them straight and the distance that I wanted. The durability is also much better than expected. After a range session and a full round they still look good as new. If you’re anything like me and don’t want to spend upwards of $400-$500 for some good wedges, Stix is the way to go.

Purchased a 54 degree senior flex graphite shaft wedge rh. Been having trouble hitting 50 or 60 yard chips with my 56 degree. So I’m trying this 54 degree wedge. Seems to be working out just great 👍.

Played 6 times in 2 weeks. Love this wedge. Highly recommend to any senior golfer. I’m 76. Shoot in the high eighty’s for 18 holes.

This wedge is lightweight and perfect for the woman golfer that wants to be able to swing a light club and get the ball to stop on the green. This club is now my wife’s favorite club in the bag. Perfect purchase.

Sand wedge is good but I don’t like the chrome finish. Should be in stainless like the 722 clubs I bought it to go with. Also, web site doesn’t allow you to put the grip on that you had installed on the complete iron set two weeks earlier.

Went into sports direct got the 56, 60 and 64 wedges. £32. 97p for a great set of wedges. Played them and got great backspin and control. Feel and quality seems like most clubs and will last years. Go grab some at £10.

99 each they are a steal.

Bought it just before a competition. Saved me quite a few shots getting out of a bunker and near the pin. Overall just as good as much more expensive ones.

Even for the low price. its bad! And sportsdirect is not in any way looking at being customer friendly! We live in holland and where talking to a Belgian branch of the company and they have been very rude and unhelpfull.
