20 Best Weed Eater Blades (2022 Updated)

i like the replacement blades. i had diffuculty getting the twine to extend after bumping on the ground. ibspent more time trying to get the twine to work correctly. after we finally changed the head of the trimmer, the blades were a lot easier to install and use just pop out the old blade and pop in a new one.

It’s not better than string by any means, longevity wise. These should be made thicker. However, 1 pack does me a whole season with one acre. And replacing them is WAYYYYY easier than restringing.

Ideal for thick grass and light brush. Lasts better than string and much stronger. Gotta be careful not to let the head get pulled in to thick grass too fast and choke out the engine on small trimmers, but is a beast on the larger engines.

Used these for the first time and was very impressed. They quickly cut through harsh brush/ tree twigs and stray branches. Care must be taken not to be tempted to try and tackle the thicker stuff ,but on my strimmer it zipped through stuff which normally I would have to use hedge clippers or suchlike.

The replacement blades are fine. They do a fantastic job of both trimming and edging. They are very durable but not unbreakable. I broke one within an hour but it was due to a piece of metal sticking out of the ground that I didn’t see in the weeds.

Even then it just chipped it but once one side is off balance, you will have to replace the blade. I love it overall and I don’t have to fight with those stupid whippy strings.

Just getting replacements for my trimmer. These really beat getting string spool replacement/refills for my weed eater. I’ve been fooled, not once, but 3 times, when I bought spools of string to use in my old weed eater.

I’d buy them in packages of 3 and find out that 2 out of the 3 spools were shorted. They were not full spools! Got tired of that. Now I buy these replacements and they last so long and I can clearly see I am not getting shorted!.

The blade cuts and does not get tangled with the Jasmine vines as the string weed eater did. Works great. Still need a little string weed eater touchup, but that is minimal and where the vines touch the rock edging and are too close to endanger the blade.

So it cuts my workload by 60-70%. Hugh difference.

I have not used the blades yet, so I can’t comment on whether they work as well as the OEM Stihl blades or not. They are cheaper, but the listing did not disclose that they are not the same. When I saw the actual blades, they are plain, and I compared them to the Stihl ones that I had left at home, and noticed that the Stihl blades have the brand name and model number stamped on each blade, but the ones that I got from this listing were plain, or blank, and so they were obviously not original brand name equipment.

Howver, the listing does not clearly say that the blades are not made by Stihl. It should say that the blades are NOT made by Stihl, but are compatible and cheaper in price.

I have tried the aftermarket blades but always end up going back to Genuine Stihl parts. These work good if you want something a little more stout than a string trimmer head. They wear fairly well but will wear or flatten the ends if you contact concrete.

Use accordingly. I have had good luck using my trimmer and these blades as a sidewalk edger. Nice clean edge. Easy to install and replace if you have the correct torque head. Good product if they fit your application.

Not for cutting trees and brush. Buy a blade trimmer if you want to do that.

These blades I meant to order longer ones, for a job on awkward well established bramble stems and unkempt long grass. However these blades surpassed the longer ones, providing more durability amongst the wear and tear, more power and much better efficiency for a tough job.

Recommended. Hardly worn after 30 minutes with the bramble!.

Appears to be the same as the blades received in retail packaging. I’ve not put it to use yet but am confident it will perform as expected. Great value when compared to the price of the retail product.

I have used these blades for cutting very tall (5′) high weeds (grasses intermixed with brush) and they worked wonderfully. There were a lot of rocks hidden by the brush so I hit those many times and have not had a blade break off yet (the plastic blades I’ve used in the past often break).

The blades to wear down from their repeated encounters with the rocks but they still last much longer than others that I’ve tried. Some day I hope to have cleared my backyard well enough that I can actually used a lawnmower, but until then, Ill use the weed cutter with these blades.

Made to last for long intervals in very rough service. Hard to wear them out. I really like them for all they do for me. No more string trimmers for me

These cutters were a good compimize between a saw blade and string. There are sharp enough to cut heavy weeds and flexible enough to limit the kick back.

Does a good job on brush and saplings. This is essentially a rotary chainsaw, which means the teeth are quite sharp and reasonable caution should be exercised during use. Also, like a chainsaw, it needs regular sharpening to keep cutting.

Mileage will vary, but I find it needs a light sharpening after a couple hours of fairly heavy use. If you’ve ever sharpened a chainsaw blade by hand before, this is the same deal. If you’re new to this type of tool, countless YouTube tutorials are available on chainsaw sharpening.

I particularly like the WikiHow entry (search for WikiHow sharpen a chainsaw for its easy, step-by-step instructions and clear videos). If you don’t have one, you’ll need a 3/16 chainsaw file, preferably one with a handle, such as this:Power Care File-N-Guide 3/16 in.

If this blade were a romantic partner, I’d ask, “Where have YOU been all my life?!” I cannot believe how amazing this is and how much TIME and EFFORT it saves. This is extremely durable – I have gone through over an acre of “jungle,” including hundreds of giant vines and 4-inch hard and soft saplings with no problems at all.

I have sharpened only once, though it really did not need it. And yes, I have bumped into a few rocks and a brick or two – and they were vaporized (I dont recommend it, but the the blade was unharmed).

Two of my neighbors tried it and immediately bought their own. It probably doesn’t matter, but I mounted this on my little Troybilt 4 stroke 25(?)cc trimmer. So the 7-inch blade is perfect. What does matter I’m sure it that you mount it on your gear-driven straight head (the little housing will look like it covers a 45 degree angle), as opposed to the curved cable drive – probably a little too much work for the cable drive, plus you would have to mount it upside down (the gear would make it turn opposite the cable).

Do not hesitate to purchase – it is very, VERY good.

After using this blade for over a year I can only say wow. It has no trouble cutting blackberry, briar bushes, and trees. I have cut some rather large trees with this, around 3-4 inches. For trees this size I work around the tree trunk, if you try to cut it a the same angle the blade will bind.

I’ve cleared close to a half acre with this blade. The only think that has dulled it is when I hit a rock but it is easily sharpened with a chainsaw file. It has really surpassed my expectations and I will be using it again this year.

A bit challenging ensuring the hole is correctly placed on the unit before tightening. Also, securing the blade to the unit can’t be done without first locking the wheel below the blade. I used a curved allen wrench while others used a drill bit.

Blade is like new and came with its own guard ! Original packaging as well.

These are handy blades for weeds/grass that are too heavy for line trimming and not heavy enough for a saw type blade. So far they seem to be a quality product.

This blade arrived on time and when fitted to the brush cutter it did an excellent job. Extensive bramble and ash sapling growth was cut at near ground level over 250sq. Mt. with ease in one day, without re sharpening.

This worked great for clearing cattails and brush around a pond. Does not leave a nice finished cut on regular grass. Needed kit sku 747713 to attach to my trimmer.

Its sad that you can find Stihl products more easily on Ebay than on the Stihl web page but it was true for me. The item was clearly the one I needed and easily purchased. The pictures showed what numbers were needed to ID the item.

This is a good blade but you have to sharpen it. It does not come sharpened. The blade is a good quality hard steel but sharpening it the first time is a real pain and I was not expecting that.

We live by a creek and it really helps cutting down the extra brush so we can see the creek better from the hill. Definitely recommend!

This blade is awesome. I have an Echo trimmer and the previous echo blade I had used was not getting the job done. I have a serious problem with buckthorn overgrowing my property and what would take me 2 hours to clear with a chainsaw today took me 10 minutes and no bending over to get the job done.

This blade cuts through trees that are 1 inch in diameter like its cutting grass. I can not believe how fast this blade cuts through even trunks that are 2-3 inches in diameter. I cannot say enough about this blade.

I am recommending it to anyone that is fed up with their current blade. After 2 minutes of using this thing I started laughing out loud at how fast thing sliced through the buckthorn.

Bought one of the Renegade Blades to try out and it is the best blade I’ve ever seen for a trimmer blade. Cuts right through anything up to about 3 inches. Cuts right down flush with the dirt and it didn’t even phase it at all.

I figured the dirt would knock the carbide teeth off but it didn’t. Now I didn’t hit any rocks and that may be a different story. I liked this blade so much I turned areound an ordered 2 more. Running both on Echo SRM-225 trimmers.

Haven’t had to replace either yet.

This is an amazing blade for cutting and clearing brush or any small trees up to about 2 inches diameter. I put this on my Stihl Kombi system 131 head and together they create a powerful option. The blade goes through the smaller brush with ease, no pushing or effort required.

Just ordered two more even though I have about 12 hours on the original and it still cuts like new.

It is an exact fit for my John Deere string trimmer. John Deere no longer sells this part.

Pros: It works. It does what it’s supposed to do. Cuts heavy brush and light wooded vegetation. Cons: Dangerous to use around conduit, because it will cut right through it if you don’t see the conduit.

Also, expensive. All this kit is is a blade and some collettes to make it fit your trimmer. Another drawback: Figure on at least a half hour labor to take your trimmer head off, put this blade on, and then convert it back to a string trimmer.

If I was cutting alot of heavy vegetation all the time, I would have two trimmers: One with string, and one with the blade. Taking off the string for the blade and back again is not what I would call convenient or time efficient.

This is great for converting an echo weed trimmer to a heavy duty brush cutter. The conversion is easy to do but I recommend having another trimmer for normal use. Now Im not saying this is the proper way to use it but I was able to cut down heavy sticker bushes as well as a number of small soft wood saplings some 1-1.

5 thick. I have a 1 acre pond and was able to clear the entire shore line without a problem. The pictures shows some of what I cut down.

This is a great idea and Echo has made a good adaptable part. Only regret is this little adapter isnt worth $ 50. Bucks. Its worth maybe $ 25. But all the rest of the package is useless and NOT needed.

This blade does a good clearing small brush ….

I needed to replace my old Bosch strimmer and thought that the durablades would be longer lasting and easier to replace than than the plastic line. The durablades certainly do a good job over grass but whether any better than cord I can’t really say as I had no other machine to compare.

However, when using durablades on grass where there is a solid background such as a log roll or brick wall they are useless. Not only does the edge of the grass remain but the durablade gets destroyed and, although easy to replace, at £1.

80 each it is expensive, whereas the cord does an excellent job and if it automatically feeds through, in my opinion it is a far better option. Also, I did not find the two stage starting action as easy as my previous machine (you need a very strong grip) and my wife found it virtually impossible to keep the power on.

Unfortunately, I now have a machine that does not do the job that I bought it for.

Battled on with the cordless Bosch strimmer and its less than durable plastic blades!! Only because I cant bring myself to invest in another strimmer at the moment!! The blade barely lasts one tour of my garden,any abrasive obstruction reduces the “durablade” to a useless stump.

If they were a penny a piece I might expect it but they aren’t and really regret buying this Bosch strimmer and the endless requirement for more blades!!!.

Having purchased the Bosch strimmer there is no alternative but to purchase the blades, however they are certainly not robust. I have a very small garden with very limited areas of grass, but each time I use the strimmer a new blade is needed as the useable proportion of the blade is very small and they are excessively expensive.

Nonetheless this particular supplier supplies at the best price I could find available and provides a first class service.

We call them the spinning blades of death! They work great on light to heavy sage and bristle brush and saplings to around 3″ in diameter, it takes some horsepower for the bigger stuff, I run mine on a 52cc straight shaft trimmer with the u-shaped handlebar and a padded harness.

I’ve tried different brands and tooth counts and so far these are the best all around blades. hitting a rock will dull the blade quickly.

The Renegade blade is a sharp cutter we use on our brush cutter weedeater attachment. It cuts thru small yaupon hedge and trees with ease. We have cut up to about 2″ stuff with only one or two swipes.

Excellent blade, has stayed sharp so far.

This product is good, however the blades wear out very quick. The very first day I used it, the blade was worn down to a nub making it unusable for future use – my property is 25 x 125, not that big.

At $16. 00 per blade this is totally unacceptable. I am now seeking to develop a work-around. I am going to try a circular saw blade 7 1/4, attach it to the SunJoe using JB Weld and see if that works.

But yes the biggest problem is with the blades – they wear out too fast.

I was pretty disappointed. I was looking forward to having a cordless and stringless trimmer. As I was trimming along the curb the blade clipped the curb and broke off the end. I had only been using it maybe 5 minutes.

I tried to keep using it, but it was no longer effective.

This item is as good as you are careful where you drive it. Go too low in the grass ant touch some random hard object and you’ll chip this blade. Any chip will render the blade unusable because at the high rotation speed it works the unbalance due to the chiped end will make the trimmer vibrate violently.

I learned the lesson after breaking 2 of them. Now, after buying the 3rd one, I fly high in the grass when using the trimmer.

Fit perfectly. Generally feeds quite well. Rarely do I have to bump the head. The only fault I have is the very sparse pictorial install instructions. If you do not have the “tool”; find a long nail that fits into the angled hole at the top.

It is used to hold the head in place to prevent it turning when your remove the center nut. Nut comes off in opposite direction you normally have to do. Remove nut, pull off original head. Then just slide this one onto shaft and put nut back on;snugly.

Do not over tighten. It comes preloaded with “string”. When you have to replace the string may have to use a flat head screwdriver to gently push tabs in as they as stiff; as they should be to hold everything in place.

Your finger may not be able to get close to the top of tab to allow it to be pushed in easily for releasing. I found a large flat head screwdriver works great. Really worth buying brand name and not the chicom junk.

Money well spent to buy Stihl.

It is extremely durable, and continues to work properly under very adverse conditions. The plastic body and lid are very abrasion resistant. They are also very impact resistant and I have never broken one.

The cover is easily removable for cleaning and accessing the spool. The original Stihl 25-2 is excellent. Avoid aftermarket copies; particularly those from China.

The trick is to store the spool and the line indoors so it doesn’t overheat and bind together. Once I discovered that, I had no problems. Before that, it was a MESS!

It’s an excellent blade that serves its purpose well.

We recently are buying lot which is very over grown, not having a brush mower was wanting to try a different route. Was very impressed with blade especially for price. It did exactly what I was hoping for.

We tried this to help clear the fence line. It worked great will cut small brush about 1/4”. Really like this product made clearing a lot easier and faster.
