20 Best Weed For Relaxing (2022 Updated)

Spring is here, and the weeds are starting to pop up! My flower beds are huge, usually taking 40 bags of mulch each spring, and trying to control the weeds can be exhausting. This year, since I was given this Preen Weed Preventer to review, I took this opportunity to use it while putting on a new layer of mulch.

Following the directions I got rid of the weeds that had already popped up, and I used the application lid to spread Preen on top of the mulch and over a brick walkway that always gets so many weeds between the bricks.

Even though I applied it very liberally it only took 1/2 the bottle to do all of my flowerbeds and the walkway, plus under the deck. Since the product should last 6 months that gives me another application for the fall in the same container.

The granules are quick to spread with the application lid, and I haven’t seen any new weeds poke through the mulch or brick walk yet since applying it a couple weeks ago. I am happy with Preen so far and look forward to a great season of not pulling weeds.

This stuff is amazing for flower beds! By now in my neck of the woods I would normally be pulling weeds like mad from my beds and having a tough time keeping up since this is the beginning of the growing season but I was able to apply Preen Extended Control Weed Preventer in time to stop the emergence of new growth.

I can testify that it is already working as there are no new sprouts coming up, and my beds look so clean under the plantings. This product is so easy to apply – just shake directly on the ground around existing plants.

I especially love that this is a 6-month control formula so I won’t necessarily need to apply again until fall. I am so pleased with this product and will be exploring more of their line of gardening formulas in hopes they will make my gardening life simpler.

A must-have for all display gardens!.

I have been using the regular Preen for many years and always had good results. When I discovered the Preen Extended Control, I was expecting to have good results and saving myself the time to not have to put the product down two times per growing season.

I put the Preen Extended Control down in March and followed application instructions as per usual. We live in MD, zone 7a. We have over 2 acres of property and several large flower gardens. My flower gardens have always been beautiful in the past, but this year the weeds are overwhelming! Attached is a photo of just one small area.

I use chemical grass and weed killers in the front yard, but not in the back where my grandkids play. I purchased Natria primarily to kill the weeds and grass that sprout between the bricks on my patios.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the sprayer to spritz like a watery weedkiller does. I could only get it to put out a thick stream so I couldn’t spray down the bricks, I would have to go up, down, and back and forth across each joint, which would take a really long time, and take gallons of Natria, at a considerable cost.

So instead, I spot treated some broadleaf weeds and a little monkey grass that was growing between the bricks, and I spot treated broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, and oak and pecan seedlings in my flower beds and lawn.

Within a few days, Natria killed everything but the monkey grass. I sprayed the monkey grass again, and it’s now pretty brown. I’ll cut off the brown and spray it a third time, and I think that will finally kill it.

Even though I was careful not to spray Natria anywhere other than on the weeds, I now have dead spots about six inches around in my lawn. The Natria really “traveled”. Fortunately, I have bermuda grass so it won’t be long until the runners fill in the lawn.

I think it will end up looking fine. The most exciting result for me was that Natria killed oak and pecan tree seedlings. Dozens of them sprout at my house every year, thanks to squirrels that bury acorns and nuts in my yard.

I just mow over the seedlings in the yard, and that kills them, but the ones in the flower beds and ground cover will get a shot of Natria, since digging them up disturbs the bulbs and other plants surrounding the seedlings.

The instructions state that the Natria spray bottle isn’t supposed to be reused, but I’m going to try and fill it with concentrate, and see if it works. That will save me some money.

This is easy to apply and works quickly to kill grass and weeds. I attached the included spray applicator and sprayed this along the driveway, curb edges, sidewalk and a fence line. The sprayed areas killed quickly, we had a thunderstorm overnight and the sprayed areas were dead the when checked the following day.

So this product is rainproof – the label says after three hours. I am not seeing any grow back so far and am not really expecting to because this product kills at the roots. We have just under an acre lot and I used less than a fourth of a gallon container of this product.

So if I have any new areas to treat, I will have more than enough product to last the rest of the year. I really like with this product that sprayed areas, if you want or need to, can be re-sown after only 5 days – with other products I was surprised to learn that it can be up to 2 months.

Another plus it does not have a heavy chemical odor when sprayed. This is an effective product for grass and weed kill it is easy to apply and works as stated. I am very satisfied. I can also easily find this in my local stores.

I have recently used the Natria Grass and Weed Control with Root Kill. I live in Arizona and this has been a crazy spring for weeds as we have had a wet winter. Our yard is overrun with weeds and they are tough and desert-like.

I wasn’t sure about this brand as I was not familiar with Natria. This is easy to use. It comes with its own applicator/spray. You shake the bottle, open the cap and insert the end of the hose into the top.

once the hose part is hooked, you turn the nozzle to one of two positions (a wide spray or a direct squirt). The nozzle can be returned to the off position as well. The nozzle is squirted a few times and then the liquid is sprayed out.

I found the whole process easy. The hose stretches so you have some range away from the container (although a short distance). The spray function was fine for me. The biggest question with weed killer is did it kill the weeds? It reports it will be within minutes, however I found this to be true with small sized weeds but the larger ones did not immediately die.

Some required a second application as well. Again, this was for larger tough desert style weeds. Smaller weeds did shrink and turn brown. It was easy to pull them out/remove and I do believe it killed the weeds at the root.

I think this is a quality product. It works as intended. Some of my weeds required a little extra work, but I have found other products to be similar in comparison. So far no signs of weeds reappearing where the product has been sprayed so that is another plus.

I’ve used Weed Beater Ultra for several years and it is a great broad leaf weed killer. Unfortunately I live upwind from blowing weed seeds. I get dandelions, spurge and oxalyllis all the time. Quick treatment with Weed Beater Ultra and all is good.

Just make sure you follow the mixing instructions.

This supposedly non herbicide seems to work ok to stop the spread of the voracious creeping Charlie in my lawn. I was stymied by the spray nozzle but finally figured out you need to pull the plastic hose out of the nozzle for it to work.

Preen is great, it works fairly well, preventing weeds from sprouting-up. When using it, one must be sure to spread it all evenly; don’t be afraid to use lots of it. It’s always a great idea to spread the Preen down 1 or 2 days before a rainy-day, water activates the Preen…either by natural-rain, or by a water-hose.

I always rely on the rain, and it works-out for me. The Preen works for 3 months, preventing most all weeds, it does a great job. I highly recommend using this style of Preen. 1 of these full-unopened containers weighs 18 pounds.

Please see the 6 attached photos I provided for this review…I bought 2 of these containers. I highly recommend this product. Lastly, these containers afterwards can be used as storage buckets or for whatever…they are made of high-quality and recyclable plastics.

The Preen is shipped via Walmart-boxes with plenty of protective-packaging surrounding it. I was highly impressed with the shipping-and-handling of these 2 products, I bought 2.

This works pretty well, and isn’t scary to put on food crops. It’s a natural product made of corn and while it doesn’t prevent Weeds perfectly, it definitely makes an important difference and reduces the number and size of weeds, and seriously reduces the maintenance workload in my veggie garden.

I like to put it around established onions, beets, carrots, and beans – the things that are so hard to weed and hoe around.

I previously bought Preen labeled “organic” and now find it is labeled “natural. ” I went online and found Preen is very toxic to birds, animals, and humans if we get it on our hands. Be careful spreading this product around unless you have no regard for the environment.

It is not that it doesn’t work, but the labeling is deceiving. BE AWARE.

Haven’t planted the Milkweed seeds yet — still a little too warm here in Eastern NC (Zone 8); perhaps in a week or two. So far so good though — love the fast service, along with the reusable mylar packaging! Contact me again in May ’22, and I’ll know a lot more.

These milkweed are so pretty and we already have a different kind growing so this will add a little variety for the butterflies

I have an acre of land. This is not practical. How to Apply The maximum number of broadcast applications of Preen Lawn Weed Control per site is 2 per year. Mow lawn to normal height 1 to 2 days before applying Preen Lawn Weed Control.

**”Normal” is a nebulous word. What is normal? What if it is “normal height” now? Why does it need to be cut? Water lawn thoroughly at least 1 day before application to sustain moisture until the next watering.

*** An entire acre? Apply Preen Lawn Weed Control when weeds are young and actively growing, preferably in the morning when dew is on the grass. If grass is not moist at time of application, sprinkle lightly with water to allow the granules to adhere and to remain on the leaf surface of the weeds.

*** Again, sprinkle an entire acre? Do not wash this product from weed leaves for 1 to 2 days after application of Preen Lawn Weed Control. After 1 to 2 days, thoroughly water the lawn. *** So now I’ve watered an acre THREE times.

This product was highly recommended, but it’s really not practical at $18/bag.

There is nothing to like. Complete waste of money. The weeds are growing everywhere like they are having a daily picnic. More with every new day. I will have to return to weedbgon or something else. Nightmare to say the least.

I always start my weed control program every season with a couple of applications of preen weed control. With proper cutting and watering, I can have a nice thick lush lawn by mid summer. It should not be necessary to apply after mid summer because the thick grass should choke out weeds pretty naturally.

Also, I get better green up after midsummer just by using a high nitrogen fertilizer to avoid possible stress from weed control products. Touch up areas is ok if you find a clover patch or leftover dandelions.

Be sure to cut about 2 inches high, don’t bag clippings, and water if possible. Presto, best lawn on the block. Pretty sure it works for me.

Seep 2 or three bags in 1. 5 cups of water for 30minutes. Strain add another 1 cup of hit water to the bags, seep another 30 minutes. Completely strain bags add 1st round to second round. Drink about an hour before needing results.

Expect things to get going numerous times. Be sure to drink all the unabsorbed dust at the bottom of the cup.

I honestly don’t understand the reviews saying they don’t like the taste. I like this plain and sometimes I also add a bag of Lipton green tea with lemon/ginseng. The two mixed together are great in my opinion.

This tea definitely give me a pick me up in the afternoons. Definitely gives my sex drive a boost and even seems to have some effect on the fullness of, well, you get the idea. So far I love this product.

I bought one box to try it out and now I’m ordering 4 more!.

This is not my taste for tea. It is probably great for someone else but I found it bitter. Shipped quick and great packaging. So far I have found all the triple leaf teas to be bitter to me, but I am a sugarholic! Seriously, I put 5 to 6 tsp.

in each cup of tea! I say give it a try.

Either a product like this works or it doesn’t. Followed the instructions perfectly. Applied the product and waited. Nothing happened. Not sure what the product they sold me was in the little plastic bag, but it sure didn’t make any difference.

Used for post emergence application in established Midwest bluegrass and fescue turf. Works OK under ideal conditions. Using only slightly higher concentration burned my lawn. When I use up this container, will go back to Sedgehammer.

It’s higher cost but at least I won’t have brown spots in my lawn.

followed directions first application took 3 days for weed to start dying and yellowing. second application necessary on new shoots emerging. will spary every few days until no ne shoots. very satisfied so far.

You have to trust the process with this, Celsius is a slow killer but it will annihilate Dallisgrass to its roots! My Bermuda lawn was infested with Dallisgrass to the point you couldn’t see any Bermuda at all.

Many YouTubers suggested MSMA but this site suggested Celsius for residential use. I used it with Methylated Seed Oil and made sure i sprayed the weeds until wet. I saw no results until Day 3, which was when the Dallisgrass blade tips started turning red.

Each day afterwards, a larger percentage of the blades turned red – and then turned a darker burgundy-red – and then started yellowing at the roots as well. There were small patches of Dallisgrass that seemed unaffected until Day 7.

But by day 8, every bit of the Dallisgrass took a drastic change for the worse. What was once red was now turning brown, what was once yellow was now turning black – and what was once unaffected in appearance, was now dying fast.

A second application after 10-14 days is suggested but, right now it’s Day 9 and it doesn’t look like the Dallisgrass will make it. I’m gonna put down some DITHIOPYR pre-emergent after it’s all completely dead and start pushing my Bermuda Grass to take back over.

Again, you have to be patient and let it run its course – cuz Celsius is the Usain Bolt of the 4 x 400 meter relay!.

First use, highest concentration. Put a hurt on Virginia Buttonweed; a second dose to be applied this weekend. Put a hurt on my Paspalum — nothing has ever done that except Roundup. Too soon to say it was fatal; may require a second application.

Put a hurt on my sparse Bahia; may require a second hit, but still impressive. Various other “weak” weeds were dead within 10 days. Apparently not super fast acting, which helps with Safety. I have Zoysia, St.

Augustine and Bermuda; some minor yellowing of St. Augustine and Zoysia so I recently applied Ironite to help recovery. Second application will determine effectiveness on Va Buttonweed, but so far I am optimistic.

Temps are in the low 90’s and no ill affects.

It was the only thing I found that killed my creeping beggar weed. Follow the directions. It doesn’t take much. It also takes a few weeks but be patient. It will work.

This stuff works VERY well. Its also very easy to mix and doesnt splash up like some others do. My favorite place to use this is in the teeny tiny cracks in the driveway. Or in my areas of mulch. I have it around the trees in my front yard and weeds love to poke through the mulch and irritate me! Use caution when using this however! It is extremely potent and will kill whatever it comes into contact with.

Be careful when using in areas where other shrubs or plants are growing. Good value for the money even though it is pricey. Completely worth it. And the cheapest place to get this is at Walmart. I compared prices prior to buying.

I bought the super concentrate at a local Ace store here in Nashville. I had previously used the concentrate plus with very good results but opted for this super concentrate because it was going to mix more product.

Well, after mixing according to label, 2. 5 fl. oz/1gal water, I made 6 gallons of this stuff and spent no less than a couple of hours spraying everything from grass, weeds and plants. It’s been over 48 hours and there’s not a single brown and/or withering plant or blade of grass.

I spent $20 more dollars to get this super concentrate over the concentrate plus and I guarantee you I will DEFINITELY not be buying this again.

G&G organic basil is very aromatic – love it! Will never buy cheap $1. 00 spices again – threw out my cheap basil which smelled more like hay next to this organic one. AND the G&G basil is affordable too.

I am kicking myself for not considering Target to stock my spice cabinet earlier. At a local green grocery store, I paid double the price for organic thyme, and for a smaller quantity to boot. I am so happy I found this, and would recommend it whole heartedly.

It adds flavor to my vegetarian cooking without breaking the bank!.

It’s little expensive for so a small bottle. But, since it’s organic and came in a glass bottle instead of a plastic one I didn’t mind spending more. But it’s too expensive to buy frequently.
