This trimmer, with the battery installed, is just a little lighter than a gas powered trimmer, but it is also quite a bit longer, giving better control over it’s movements and putting the cutter head farther away from my body; I don’t get as many grass clippings on my feet and legs, and when the string hits something hard, or tries to wrap around something it can’t cut, I’m better able to control the movement of the trimmer in response.

Best of all: NO FUEL TO MIX AND NO PULL ROPE TO YANK ON! My yard is fairly small, so it takes me less than twenty minutes to do all the trimming, and yet the battery shows no sign of needing recharging, though I do put it back on the charger after each use.

The trimmer has a ‘Rabbit/Turtle’ speed range selector switch, and a variable speed trigger control; I’m able to trim around the skirting on my home without damaging the skirting, unlike my previous gas trimmer, which would damage the skirting.

On the downside: it can’t (shouldn’t) be used to edge walkways. The cutter head has a gearbox on it, with oil inside. The cutter head has to be kept fairly level for proper lubrication of the gears; and, of course, the oil level should be checked regularly.

I’ve owned and used gas powered and corded electric trimmers over the years; Milwaukee’s M18 trimmer beats them all.

When I needed a new battery powered string trimmer, I purchased this Milwaukee unit – primarily to keep the number of different batteries/chargers in my home to a minimum. I always use it on the low speed setting, which is plenty adequate to trim grass.

Seems well made, but it probably overkill for my uses. I’ll probably make two mods to it (1) affix a shoulder strap to it as it is a bit heavy and (2) mount a wire guard out front of the string head to remind me how close I can get to things I DON’T want to annihilate.

My lot is about 11,000 SF, with an above ground pool and 3 raised be gardens to trim around. Charged it once, and have done the lawn twice so far without a recharge, probably 30 to 35 minutes of run time.

I think it will make the 1 hour run time claim. If it doesn’t I’ll update this review.

Sure beats using a gas powered trimmer due to less hassle, ease-of-use, and quiet operation. Just attach the battery and start trimming. 2-speed is also a nice feature, enabling better control of cut.

Cuts very efficiently, as I only advanced the trimmer line once in 45 minutes of trimming. Might be a bit pricey, but the Milwaukee engineering and quality is worth it. Plus the battery and charger are interchangeable with my other Milwaukee M18 power tools.

The first one I assembled, and the guard fell off after a few uses. When this happens, the screws to attach it are lost in the mess and it’s hard to find replacements. Even if replacement parts were easily available, should I trust it would not just fall off after a couple uses again? My second trimmer had the same issue.

That’s right! I had to buy another one! That’s because my story gets worse! After approximately 2 months of use, the first trimmer failed. Engine began to smoke, and never worked again. I had already invested in other tools that use the battery, so I decided to try again, because the battery is much of the cost of the tool, and at least I could have another battery to rotate out during lawn sessions.

After the guard fell off the first day of use (the hardware store put this one together), I decided to just leave it off and take the pain. The new trimmer worked for approximately 3 weeks, and it too went up in smoke.

From what I understand, we can’t return these to the place of purchase, so ultimately I feel stuck with it. Not sure I want to deal with a return process, if I know it will fail again, and I’ll come full circle.

I also bought the pole saw, and pole hedge trimmer. I had to work on the pole saw several times, but at least it can return to functionality. The pole hedge trimmer seems to be working fine, but it is only a week old.

I have to get work done around here, and now I have to find another weed trimmer. It is a shame , because the concept is wonderful, and while operational, it works incredibly well. I was very impressed.

I don’t know how to move forward because I had invested in an entire system of tools, and the weed trimmer was the most important of my purchases.

I bought this to replace a lower price/quality unit I’ve had for a couple years which just wasn’t cuttin the mustard any longer. I’m just about 100% Dewalt when it comes to my small tools, so I figured why not, let’s try their yard tools line.

I also have a couple other tools which take the same battery. I am definitely happy with the trimmer, once I replaced the head for an extra $25. This trimmer is now up to version 4, according to the Dewalt customer service people I spoke to.

They will offered an suggested I bring the trimmer to a repair shop to check on the unit, but there isn’t anything going wrong with the trimmer head which can be fixed. The line just gets tangled and there isn’t any way around it.

The previous versions (and the item photos and manual) show the old trimmer head, which has an internal divider which will keep the string from becoming tangled. The replacement head I bought is exactly what was supplied with this trimmer in previous versions.

I actually told Dewalt they should have stuck with the original design and the new attempt is garbage. The trimmer isn’t exactly lightweight, but it is pretty easy to maneuver. The straight shaft took a little getting used to, my previous trimmer was curved.

It is also longer than others, but also easy to get used to. In all honestly it could have been designed better in this regard also, would have made it lighter and easier to handle. This unit also works as an edger, just rotate and go.

It isn’t specifically designed for the task, so it isn’t a perfect edger, but still easy enough to use. Just another thing to get used to. Overall I’m happy with this one, I have my opinions on how to make it better, but I’m not going to get rid of this unit any time soon.

I bought this trimmer on Thursday evening hoping that on Saturday morning I could tackle my yard. Since I’m now widow, I’m replacing our gas operated with battery because the maintenance is easier and the equipment is lighter.

Well, to begin with the good, it’s light even with the battery attached. The battery is interchangeable with other dewalt tools which was a bonus because all of the power tools my husband had were dewalt.

Which leads me to the reason of the two stars. When I opened the box, no battery, no charger, no instruction book, no tool to tighten the bracket, no auxiliary handle. The box was clearly marked as to containing all of the above, the model number matched to having all of the above.

Luckily for me I have a hex key set, multiple batteries, a charger, the instruction booklet is online. No nice handle but I can make do without it. And living in Maryland right now taking it back to where I bought is not an option ( purchase online in store item with curbside pickups, limited number of people in the stores and limited hours makes returns near impossible to do.

) but I got enough to where it will do what it’s designed to do. Is it pain in the you know what to do it this way yes but you gotta do what you gotta do to get it done. And Will update my review once I take a shot at my if I didn’t have weeds I wouldn’t have grass yard.

But cmon, guys, double check your boxes before you ship.

This isn’t just a weed wacker. No, it is a landscape creation tool. With the Ego trimmer in my hands, I am prepared to complete the landscaping of my entire yard. Being a master gardener with near a full acre, I have visitors who come to visit.

I can touch up the curb itself by trimming all the weeds growing from the street to the curb and then trim all the grass and weeds by the concrete sidewalk. I move on to the stone pavers in my driveway and can take the weeds out from between the pavers.

The sidewalks around the perimeter have their grasses neatened. The grass down by the different beds is neatly trimmed. I put the trimmer at a 90 degree turn and use the nylon t cut off stray branches from low hedges and plants.

I have gone on to turning the edger 180 degrees and then trimming the top of box hedges and some annuals. If there are some weeds that are just emerging from the lawn, I turn the trimmer on edge and bring the cutting string down to dig the weed out of the lawn.

I’ve done work on Forsythia and butterfly bush and box elder ,that I could not reach otherwise to trim back. I tested the timing of the battery. On its own, without any cutting, it will remain on for forty minutes while spinning.

I cheated and bought a second battery. So while I am using one, I put the second one in the charger so I can double my working time. I buy the nylon string in bulk rolls that is very economical. The only problem is that I believe in the power of the trimmer so much that I use it to cut down grass in a vacant lot when the grass is 8 inches long and the motor overheats with the load I put on it.

I wait for it to cool down or else go and grab the second battery. No trimmer is meant for that workload but the EGO tries. Do I like the EGO string trimmer? I’ll let you decide but as Charlton Heston said, “you’ll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands”.

Initial impression following three weeks of use is excellent. I have a larger, heavier, more powerful gas trimmer that I use reluctantly because of the ear protection, gas mixture, shoulder strap, and cumbersome spool loading.

All of this results in infrequent use. With the EGo trimmer, I can’t actually say I enjoy trimming now, but it is certainly a more pleasant and frequent event. The light weight, quiet sound, and reasonable power make this my go-to trimmer, almost exclusively.

The battery holds a charge long enough for me to need a break, and the battery recharge is less than an hour. The spool came loaded with string so I haven’t experienced a reload yet, but I trust it will significantly less painful than my other trimmer.

The bump feed for more string does not work with a light bump, as stated in the manual. It sometimes takes several decent bumps on hard ground to feed more line. Cutting St Augustine or carpet grass runners is difficult, due to the thickness, but I found this to be true with my gas trimmer too.

All in all, I’m very pleased with this and hope that the quality makes this the last trimmer I’ll need to purchase.

Really like this item! Strong, well built, plenty of run time. Enjoy not having to refill the gas can here and there (I now have the mower and blower as well). No matter how much I spent or what brand I had, the gas trimmers always acted up as far as starting or running well.

Only complaint is the string was jamming up here and there. I was using the correct diameter but it had a different shape. I switched string brands and haven’t had issues since. Also, battery stopped taking a charge but that was due to always leaving it on the charger, which I know is an issue with these types of batteries for other tools as well.

Love that I can use the batteries interchangeably. When needing a blower, I saved money by buying the tool only since I could use the batter from the trimmer or mower. Seems a little more expensive than other brands offering battery power but the quality justifies it.

Definitely recommend and would buy again.

I have been using a ECHO PAS trimmer for a number of years, a Ryobi prior to that (Still have both) but as I am getting a bit older (65+) I wanted to look at lightening the load a bit and started looking at Battery Operated Trimmers.

I first looked at Ryobi since I already have a number of 40 Volt Tools and Lawn Mower however doing research I really wanted a tool that did not use the old shaft technology but had the motor at the trimmer head and after checking out the Ryobi it was noticeably heavier then the EGO (at the trimmer head) and simply did not feel comfortable, even when the battery was in place, it felt like I was holding the trimmer head up.

The EGO however feels perfectly balanced to me with the battery inserted, it possibly also has to do with the extreme adjustability both from the handle placement and the length of the carbon fiber shaft.

I also was interested in the Line IQ feature as I was constantly taking a look at the length of line out of the ECHO and then bumping the head for more, however using the EGO within minutes I stopped worrying about the line and was able to complete my trimming without once giving it a thought.

I felt that the EGO trimmer was every bit as powerful as the ECHO and Ryobi trimmers and did not bog down whatsoever. Including some thick weeds in the ditches we have. I haven’t yet had to reload the line but again the Powerload feature is one I am certainly looking forward to.

I trim the front and back yards for two single family homes in Florida approximately 1/2 acre in total and only used about 1/4 of the battery capacity each time, so far. If you are considering a battery operated trimmer I would highly recommend the EGO trimmer line and if you want the best options then the 16 inch Telescopic POWER+ POWERLOAD with LINE IQ is the ticket.

This is my honest opinion based on my actual use and I received NO incentive (dang the bad luck) for this review.

I was skeptical about buying a battery powered trimmer since I had always used gas powered for years and didn’t think it would hold up to the use, granted I have a small yard and all. After the initial first use, I was very impressed by the power and longevity of the battery.

I have about a 30 X 25 front yard and 40 X 50 backyard and could have done probably a second house with those yard dimensions before the battery would die. It also charges very quickly and takes about 45 minutes to recharge to full capacity after use for me.

It uses. 095 orange line and stays the perfect length throughout use. I did not install the guard it comes with (just because it gets in my line of sight, nothing to knock against the guard, I take them off all my trimmers).

I have not had to use the power cord rewind yet, but looks very simple to reinstall line back in. Just take about 14 feet of line and feed it through the holes, no need to align anything, and the put about 7 feet of line on each side and simply hit that rewind button, and there you go.

The whole thing could also fold in half if you needed it to. Just take out one of the Allen head screws about mid way down the shaft, but don’t lose it. That’s how it stays straight. The shaft is also telescoping, meaning it can get longer or shorter, depending on your height and adjusts to your body.

It also comes with a fastening attachment to place a strap on so you can carry some of the weight on your body if you are going to be carrying for a while. The trigger has a trigger safety so it won’t spin the line without first defeating that initial trigger to free the main trigger from going down.

It does take a little getting used to. It’s also very quiet, as expected. Especially when you don’t have the trigger down. Overall, the quality is there and think this thing will last me years to come.

Good buy for sure.

This string trimmer replaced a 3 year old Kobalt 80V string trimmer that was supposed to have an easy load trimmer head on it. It was never easy, and as time passed and the “bumping” to feed out the line wore down the grooves on the trimmer head, it became impossible to load line.

This new PowerLoad head from EGO is the answer to prayers. It is by far the easiest loading string trimmer I’ve ever had. The auto-feeding Line IQ eliminates any issues with wearing down the head as well, because there’s no bumping required.

It has all the power of any gas or battery powered string trimmer I’ve ever used and its design is excellent, with a very comfortable handle, and it’s well balanced. With the optional shoulder strap it’s almost weightless and it’s very easy to maneuver.

I will say one thing to those who have never used a string trimmer with this Line IQ auto-feed system. Be very careful getting too close to flowers or young trees, and be aware of when you think the line might auto-feed, because if you’re too close and it auto-feeds unexpectedly, it will mow down your flowers or strip the tender bark off a young tree/shrub.

Other than that warning, I find no negatives to this string trimmer. I’ve been mowing lawns and using string trimmers for 40+ years and this new EGO string trimmer puts all the other string trimmers I’ve ever used to shame! Well done, EGO!.

All my life growing up we had the average residential trimmers I would use to maintain our propterty. When I got my house I got a basic residential craftsman trimmer. It did the job, but when I started my lawn care company it was time to upgrade to something reliable and powerful.

When I first started up this trimmer I was amazed at the lack of noise and vibration I had so long been accustomed to. At full throttle this thing purrs and is beyond the power and efficiency I have ever experienced so far.

Im extremely happy with this purchase and performance. I’d give this model a high end residential grade or entry level commercial grade rating. Definitely would recommend.

I have owned about 7 other gas weed trimmers in my life. None of them impressed me. The lithium Black and Decker melted down. Junk. I finally spent real money and just bought this Husqvarna. Easy to use.

Light. Barely any vibration. It demolished foot-high weeds for 3 hrs straight. Very impressed. From other reviews I’ve read I will not be disappointed!!!.

Coming from running an old two stroke homelite, this string trimmer is a Cadillac. Has great power and is light weight. Just mowed down a patch of kochia waist high without it bogging down. Seems to start a little hard.

Purchased this tool due to the good reviews, and yikes, what a travesty of design. Not the battery/power side of the tool, but the spool system. This is a pain to work with from the moment you have to open it.

The way the spool mechanism is reloaded is an engineering nightmare. The worst part is that once you get the “guts” of the spool contraption back into place and ready for locking back onto the tool, you have to apply a serious amount of force to get the spool to lock back to the tool.

And the line jams inside the spool often, so letting line out is difficult and may result in having to open the spool again to clear the jam. This happened 4 times in my first 30 minutes with this tool.

Even if the spool was easy to put back together the height of the cutting string is excessive due to the thickness of the spool itself. This means you must hold the tool at a sharp angle to be able to engage the grass.

It also means working around/under fences is pretty much impossible. A spool designed by someone who has never worked with lawn tools, I’m afraid. Returned and I strongly advise you spend your money on a more conventional design.

I like my new string trimmer, it has lots of power and the 4ah battery lasts for enough time to do my very large yard without recharge. My only complaint is that the switch and motor are not angled for comfort but are straight inline with the rest of the pole.

This makes me grip the switch at an odd angle for my wrist, which tires after a while. The motor can get hot after constant use, and its position makes me contact it with the inside of my lower arm, and I jump from the heat.

If they’d just angled that part of the tool both those problems would go away. Good for shipping, not good for the user. But the rest of it I love.

This tool was ok for medium-duty work, although the power was minimal and pole saw attachment was jittery. This worked for one season of use. This spring the motor seized and I had to bring it in to the service depot.

I have been waiting 3 months for warranty repair/replacement (mostly the service depot’s fault, but Ryobi picked them). It’s a cheaper option than more pro brands, but not very useful to me to be left with useless attachments and no motor all spring.

I will be selling it whenever it gets replaced/repaired and moving to another platform. Don’t make my mistake – buy once, cry once!.

I like this trimmer, have had it two years now. It is the easiest to start and there is no string winding and therefore no coil of string to jam! You can buy a winding head if you want (Echo Part No.

999442300907 Speed Head 400 Trimmer Head 400) but have never felt a need for it. Also there is no feed mechanism to tap on the ground to advance some new string (and then take apart when it won’t advance no matter how hard you hit it).

Mine came with a two-string head. What that means is that you get out your standard 0. 080 roll of string, cut a few pieces about 12 inches long with a scissors. Insert one in each of the two holes in the round head.

Give each one a yank; the head has teeth that will lock it in place. When one or both gets too short you pull the remnant out from the part of the head that is open below. The teeth let the string pull right out in that direction just using your fingers, nothing else.

Stick in two new pieces. That takes about 30 seconds and I have to do it maybe two times for trimming around my house and outbuildings. In two years I have never once had the problem someone else had with the string falling out, he must have had a defective head.

This is a much better quality trimmer than the Weedeater Featherlight that I had previously. It is lightweight, well balanced, and seems to cut evenly and quickly. Cranks easily and runs very smoothly.

Some users don’t like the type of cutting head with the separate piece line replacement, and prefer the tap head, but I actually like the head this has, as the tapping ones are always getting jammed.

I also like the curved shaft, although, again, a lot of people prefer the straight shaft trimmers. But I find that I can be better precision and control with the curved shaft. I will say that the shaft could probably be about 3 or 4 inches longer; the trimmer is fine for me at 5’10”, but a very tall person might need more length.

Purchased 1 day ago and fleet refused to take item back. The string design is faulty. The metal teeth are meant to clamp on to the string so it doesn’t fly off while in use but when it is time to change out the string the string doesn’t move.

The metal teeth continue to clamp onto the string. The strings just break and in order to remove it, you need to unscrew the head of the weed trimmer. A huge waste of time when you just want to quickly switch out string and get yard work done.

Fleet farm said I am simply out of luck and need to get it repaired. Spend $150 on a product that is used 1 time and now I have to get it repaired. Do not waste your money on this. Shop around and find out the return policy before buying.

Rested on EGO, which had great reviews, pricing was reasonable, available easily at my local Lowes. I’ve only used these a few times, but while I think they have some strong points, I already have a few misgivings.

The blower, I will say, gives me NO mis-givings at all – it is strong, quiet, lightweight, goes forever on a battery. It’s the trimmer and the charging stations that give me pause. On the trimmer, the first thing I noticed was that the head is so tall/high that it is difficult to cut close with this trimmer.

I found myself having to angle the trim head to get it to cut low enough to the ground, as the distance between the line and the head is too great – much greater a distance than any trimmer I’ve used before, and I’ve used a lot of different ones.

So, that’s annoying. The bump line feed seems to work fine, it goes a long time on the battery, and though I haven’t yet used it, the method here for feeding line into the spool seems like a real plus – simple.

However, before my first use I wanted to remove the cover off the spool simply to see how much line was in there, from the factory, before I went to use it. Read the instruction book closely about how to do it, but no joy – I could NOT get the two tabs on the sides to release the cover.

At all. Hopefully the built in line feed thing works well enough, but it is irritating to not be able to pop the cover off and see how much line I have. Finally, right out of the box I have had an issue with a loud fan noise from my charger when I first plug it in.

At first I had two batteries charging on two chargers, close to each other, so I wondered about them interfering with each other somehow, so I unplugged them both and moved them elsewhere. Nope. Made no difference, I still get a very loud fan sound on one of them every time I use it.

I have noticed that I can walk into the room where it’s charging, take it OUT of the charger, re-insert it, and it will show fully charged now and not re-activate the loud fan to begin charging, but still does it if I put a battery in there and it needs to charge.

I initially thought this was “normal” for these chargers, though I’ve never experienced any noise at ALL before from yard tool chargers, and my second one does not do this. Jury’s still out on these.

Our gas powered trimmer stopped working and we needed to replace it. This new chargable trimmer had good reviews so we decided to try it. It is lightweight and has good balance. No more tugging on rope to get engine started! Just place the charged battery into the handle, and its ready to go! It lasts for over an hour and 15 minutes before needing a recharge.

It charges in a couple of hours, and is ready to go again. It comes with different blades (to cut thru different grass/weed stubs). It is sufficient for edging along rock flower beds, cutting down smaller weed patches, and trimming around tree areas that a mower can’t get to.

It doesn’t come with a shoulder belt but is fairly manageable without one. It would be prudent to wear eye protection as it can sometimes throw some trimmings/pebbles, while using. Overall, I like this trimmer for most of my landscaping needs.

It is not feasible to use on a large weeded are as its cutting path is not that big. Other than that, it’s a handy tool!.

This is a Great product. It’s small, lightweight & powerful. It comes with 3 different tools: plastic grass cutter, metal grass cutter, and a sharp (Table Saw-like blade for Brush cutting. I wish the battery was more powerful, but.

if it was, the Grass Cutter would be heavier than it is now, which is maybe 6 lbs. The Brush Cutter attachment will cut through alot of thick, green shrubbery and never dull. I use alittle WD-40 to maintain cutting ability.

My Elderly Neighbor saw me with it the other day, and she just had to have one. And this device (which resembles a weed wacker) is small, for convenient storage, but has a telescoping pole, for extending the tools ability to cut grass around plants as well as an adjustable head, to perfect your angle to even Edge the grass, as well! It’s comes complete with a Charger.

And charges in about 3 hrs.

Everything is fine! /Full compliance with the photo and description on the site. I liked the work. Easy easy to operate. How long does the battery hold a charge, I can not say so far. Worked only for 30 minutes (tested), during this time did not discharge, shows a full charge.

This is my 3rd 40 volt trimmer because I have a lot of land. I stayed with Ryobi because I already have the batteries/chargers. It’s a lightweight version. The others weigh more because they have the rotating head for use as an edger.

This one came with super duty 2 strand trimmer line and It was too heavy for the cutting blade on the bottom of the grass shield to do it’s job. The line would extend uncut and get too long to work properly.

I changed to single strand line and it now works fine.

This is a well balanced and easily operated trimmer. The extra power of 40 over 20 volts allows you to tackle slightly more heavy trimming jobs but the smaller string size negates the extra power. I have rewound the spool with 80 size and it feeds reasonably well and cuts significantly heaver stuff, It remains a great home owner lawn trimmer but falls short trimming an irrigation ditch.

Battery for this trimmer charges quickly and puts out great power but is expensive. I my opinion the 40 volt for the average lawn is a overkill and a 20 volt with extra batteries for the same money is a better deal.

This is my first cordless trimmer, and I wonder what took me so long to get one. It is very easy to use and actually more powerful than the old, extension cord trimmer. If you have any of the 40v batteries, this tool-only purchase is the way to go.

I have an attachment for my OLD echo curved shaft trimmer. I have edged with it for 10 plus years. I just got a new lawn that wants several more areas edged around flower beds. Well, I bit the bullet and bought this trimmer for the edger.

Im glad I did. It starts as easy as my kid echo. I look forward to collecting attachments.

Really nice product. Only problem I had was was that one of the three screws that attaches the trimmer shroud was not machined correctly. Luckily I have spare screws. Other than that It’s a great product.

This is a great Trimmer/Edger kit. Easy assembly and started up on the first pull. The balance is terrific. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I purchased this for my vacation home as I have standardized on M18 for that location. It does a fine job cutting high grass/weeds and I did not have any of the issues around it stopping from overheating that some reviews have mentioned (last use I basically ran it without stopping til the 8Ah battery depleted).

I also have an E** 1520s trimmer so I can compare. The E** is lighter, better balanced, spins faster, and cuts better (but that may just be the non-Milwaukee string), however it is not a multi-attachment product.

It also lasts longer (about 20%) with a 2. 5Ah 56V battery than the Milwaukee with the 8Ah 18V battery although the 8Ah battery actually has greater capacity (2. 5 x 48 = 120 < 8 x 18 = 144). Also, the Milwaukee unit spins counter clockwise (looking down at it) while the E** spins clockwise.

This means you hold the E** with your left hand on the throttle while Milwaukee you hold with your right hand on the throttle. I highly recommend you get the strap for the Milwaukee as it makes it much less tiring to operate for long periods.

Lastly, while the Milwaukee is not too bad to load string, frankly nothing else is as simple as E**’s method. While the above might sound a bit inconsistent with my rating it is not. The E** is a true commercial product and the Milwaukee is a quality prosumer product at a lower price point, which suits my needs (and then some).

If Milwaukee wants to make this a commercial landscaping product then it has a few things to work on. I also purchased the pole saw and an extension. These work great. NOTE the extension comes with a strap! The flexibility of adding attachments to this string trimmer is its real value.

I will be getting the hedge trimmer attachment next. Frankly anyone with a bunch of M18 tools and a yard should have this.

First, my husband & I have many Milwaukee products (he’s a big fan of the power tools) and thought to purchase this for me to use, due to the gas powered weed trimmers he has are too heavy for me to use around our property.

Sadly, this weed eater doesn’t work the way your advertising portrays. It will stop after 5 minutes of use and then start again. After the first use stoppage, it will then stop every 2 to 3 minutes of use.

We then have to start and stop it after that. It doesn’t work continually or consistently and our property requires a lot of trimming due to hillsides and rocks. At the most, the battery life is on average 20 minutes, not the 45 minutes claimed.

We returned the first one, thinking that it was a manufacturing issue that made it a one-off and came home with another one just like it. It wasn’t a one-off issue, it’s the whole product. If a homeowner shells out over $300 for a battery powered weed trimmer made by a high end manufacturer, one would expect to get their moneys worth.

If this is a overheating issue, then maybe it should be advertised to use in the wintertime, since it’ll be colder outside and the grass won’t be growing. It truly is a disappointment and needs to be tweaked substantially in order to be put in a category that it’s advertised to be in for yard work.

My husband & I wouldn’t recommend anyone getting this and it truly is a let down. Please feel free to let us know if there is a solution to this problem.

Love this string trimmer. Bought as a combo with the M18 blower. Two big benefits the string trimmer has vs gas trimmer is it’s very quiet, can use early in the morning and won’t wake the neighbors a plus for starting a job early and it is very powerful, instant max speed in a fraction of a second and of course variable speed to control around delicate areas.

The blower is fantastic, plenty of power for blowing leaves as well as clippings. The combo came with charger and one M18 RedLithium XC8 battery. I also purchased the XC12 RedLithium battery for jobs that require longer work time, especially for the blower.

I am very pleased with all my Milwaukee tools and most recently purchased 10 of the PacOut tool boxes and storage cases. Ingenuous design, and absolutely love how convenient the PacOuts are work with and access tools etc and the durability of the construction is best I have ever seen.

As a single woman, I’d struggled for years with a good brand (TroyBilt) gas trimmer. It needed expensive conditioning every spring even if the gas was drained from it over the winter. Picking it up, the shop owner would crank it right there in the store on first attempt, talk about what a great machine it was, etc.

, etc. I’d get home and couldn’t start it. Took many attempts. Finally after 5 years fighting with it, I decided to buy a battery powered one. That was an education. Had to consider all kinds of things.

This Husqvarna won every comparison. Line thickness, very long adjusted out shaft (I’m 5’8). Super fast battery charging – wish I’d noticed the time but it took less than an hour to recharge whole load – was somewhere in its last quarter charge.

I have a double lot in town with beds front & back & around trees, sidewalk, long forked driveway, brick-pathed veg garden – and it does the whole yard without reaching empty!! I definitely recommend this machine!.

Its been great so far, had a corded one before and we love not having to be plugged in all the time. We have a town lot and so far we’ve been able to use it about 3 times before needing a recharge. Battery has a charge indicator on it so we just keep an eye on that and charge it at one bar so the trimmer has never died on us half way through a job as of yet.

Really easy to use, would recommend for sure. It is the only cordless trimmer we’ve ever owned though so can’t compare it to any other brand.

We bought this trimmer because I already have several m16 tool and several batteries that we could use with it. We have absolutely loved our trimmer. The power and durability of it has met all of our expectations.

We have a larger yard with lots of rock walls and curbs that require a lot of trimming. Our older battery trimmer would take 2 full battery to complete the front yard. We recently finished our backyard that more then tripled our lawn area and the m18 6.

0 battery can complete the entire thing in one charge. It is so nice to not have to change batteries in the middle of the chore. My only complaint is that it didn’t come with a shoulder. With that being said, the shoulder strap that we purchased separately really makes it easy to handle.

Heavier than a gas trimmer but just as effective and powerful. I’ve used a orange and white brand trimmer that rhymes with wheel for the last 13 years. It lost compression and I needed a replacement.

Was hesitant to go electric because I could replace my old trimmer for half the price of this trimmer but pulled the trigger once a deal surfaced that included an extra battery. I am not disappointed in the least.

I would never consider an electric string trimmer from any other company than Milwaukee because they are literally the only tool manufacturer that still produces products designed to last a lifetime.

More importantly, they stand behind their products too! I plan to buy the hedge trimmer, pole saw and edger attachment soon!.

Many great things to say about performance and convenience. Love the readiness of having a powerful brushless motor without the mess and technical complexities of a gas trimmer. However, a couple of draw backs: the single 8ah battery is highly recommended.

I am a Milwaukee fan, ALL my power tools are Milwaukee (about 12 tools) and I own 5 battery packs (5ah). I almost purchased the “tool only” and was really glad I didn’t when I used a 5ah as it didn’t perform nearly as well, perhaps because some of my 5ah batteries have some age.

So if you have existing Milwaukee products and want to enjoy full performance buy the package that includes the battery. One other thing that was disappointing is the feel of the motor casing. Hard to explain this but I’ll try… it doesn’t feel “Milwaukee” rugged, it rattles and it’s noisy, it feels “Ryobi” cheap and I really hope it lasts, only time will tell.

Aside from MY personal expectations from Milwaukee the trimmer does perform exceptionally well. Like, Husqvarna well. It is truly comparable to a pro trimmer but don’t expect the electric conversion to be easy on the muscles.

The battery (8ah) does add weight to the unit. But still not as heavy as a gas equivalent.

We have a large yard with flower beds throughout that are quite a ways from the house, so running extension cords with the old corded trimmer I have is not very feasible (I’d have to string several together in series).

My gas trimmer stopped working, I don’t have the time to fix it, it wasn’t comfortable to use, and my wife and older son couldn’t start it when it did work, so we bought this since I already had the batteries (although we bought the one with the 5ah battery and charger anyway).

I’ve used it several times over the last two months–it does work, but the overall quality and design leave a bit to be desired. The 5ah battery isn’t enough to finish all of my trimming so I usually end up using it and a 4ah battery I already have–that’s not Dewalt’s fault.

The ergonomic design and quality of the construction is on them though. The balance point with the battery in actually falls right in front of the hinge point in the handle, so the handle placement as pictured makes it awkward to use.

The four allen bolts holding the two parts of the handle together around the center pole also don’t squeeze the two pieces around the pole very well, so the handle would still slide at times. I moved the handle below the hinge and as close to the balance point as I could (the exact point is roughly in the fatter section right in front of the hinge, and the handle doesn’t fit around it there).

This improved the balance, but now the handle was out of my reach without leaning over slightly, so I had to jerry-rig a strap to wrap around my wrist so I didn’t have to hunch to use it–this may not be a problem for someone a little shorter than me or with long monkey arms.

The handle has since come off completely, as the bolts and nuts pulled through the plastic in the handle pieces even when just tightening them by hand. To add line it does utilize the newer style of head where you feed the line through the center and out the other side a ways, and then you twist the head to coil it in from both sides simultaneously–this is more convenient than the older style heads that require spools coiled in one direction, but it is still finicky at times.

The bump feed feature in the head usually works OK, although it has jammed a few times; it also eats through string at an exorbitant rate since it doesn’t seem to feed the string out at a consistent rate (I’ve found bits of it EVERYWHERE for weeks, and they range from little pieces under a 1/4″ up to 10″ pieces), which means I have to refill it with 20 feet of line at least 2-4x each time I use it.

Overall it does do the job, but it still isn’t very comfortable or convenient to use (which were the features we wanted it to fulfill), it is very string-hungry, and the build quality leaves me wondering how long it will last before the next thing breaks.

I’ll still use it since I don’t have a better option at the moment, but be aware of its flaws before investing in it.

I bought this to replace an old worn out gas trimmer. I have several other dewalt 20v tools, that i am more than happy with so i decided to get the trimmer. I wasnt expecting it to have the power that it does(it cuts even thick heavy weeds on low setting just as good as my old 30cc gas trimmer, i haven’t even used it on high!).

Battery life is decent, I can trim completely around my 1300 sqft house on less than a single charge. And it only takes 2 fully charged batteries to go around my house, the perimeter of my 3/4 acre property, and 14 trees.

(My gas trimmer would use about 3/4 tank to do the same. ) I have several batteries and chargers so swapping out is no big deal. I wouldn’t recommend for commercial use only because of the batteries.

But for a homeowner with an average yard its perfect. Its lighter weight, less expensive, lower maintenance, and easier to use than a gas trimmer. The best thing is no mixing gas.

Overall we’re pleased with these trimmers. Here’s the breakdown: Pros: – Comes with a battery and charger. Most don’t so they can hold down the price. – Battery life – Variable speed. Some of the cheaper ones are just on/off.

– Shaft strength. The shaft on this trimmer comes in two pieces and it clamps together. That’s super common these days, but this trimmer uses a strong bracket and three bolts, so it doesn’t flex at all.

Cons: – String is short. It’s labeled as a 13 inch cutting surface, but the base is very wide, so the actual length of the string is maybe 3 inches. – Weight. The motor is small and strong, but with that comes weight.

It feels almost as heavy as my gas powered one, but all the weight is in the motor. – Weight distribution. All the weight is in the motor which is on the end of the trimming head. No counter weight on the trigger end, so my arms get tired pretty quick.

I have to give credit where credit is due. The 130c is being used a a specific use trimmer for a commercial business. I was in need of a curved shaft trimmer to do close quarter trimming where it is impossible to use my long straight shaft trimmers due to close fencing around a/c units, it basically working in a maze.

After making a quick determination that a curved shaft trimmer would make the specific job a lot easier, then it was time to look at what was on the market these days. After looking at all the top brands that still offer a curved shaft trimmer, it was the Husqvarna 130C that I determined was best choice.

As I was going to slightly modify it, no other brands were compatible with what I wanted to do or they were built so cheap. The 130c out of the box is great for the homeowner that prefers a very lite ergonomic machine that offers high quality commercial features like the anti vibe and the control grip, most of all the powerband is stellar.

To keep this short, there is nothing that I don’t like about it. Keep in mind that curved shaft trimmers do not have a gear reduction head, so being a direct drive at higher rpm’s will drink fuel. I suggest if someone is in need for a lite unit like this stop into your local dealer, tractor supply, or lowes adjust the d handle for your liking and then try a straight shaft.

There are many reasons why a user would chose either or, but there is definitely a market for these curved shaft trimmers. They are 199 don’t let any dealer or store like lowes inflate the price. I had Lowes match the price.

I wasn’t a Husqvarna fan because I’ve used only certain brands from the past thirty years, but after using this little gem, there are a few other Husqvarna products that I will be purchasing. I’ve noticed that Dealers are trying to take advantage of the consumer, they are marking Husqvarna products way over MSRP and to make it worse, advertising that they are on sale at 20% over msrp.

I see people just walk back out the door and choose a different brand elsewhere.

Because of the previous review we were unsure whether this grass trimmer worked at all well. I mentioned to my husband maybe he should not purchase it but he said it was a very good make. He has used Husqvarna and Stilh chainsaws for years and considers them both the best on the market, so we forged ahead and purchased this Grass Trimmer.

My husband is very happy with it. He says it starts right away, has a lot of power, cuts through really thick high weeds which we have a lot of this year as we are on acreage and it has been very wet, plus what he likes the most is when he stops depressing the trigger, right away where the cord is, it stops spinning, so if he has any tangled grass/weeds where the cord comes out, he can remove them without stopped the grass trimmer.

His last one was less expensive and from Canadian Tire too but also had less power, where the cord came out if he stopped holding the trigger, where the cord was it would still spin, so he would have to turn off the machine to remove any tangled grass/weeds.

He is really happy with this grass trimmer and he is really fussy with his tools. As of now, with two uses, he is giving it a 5 star.

Just bought new. Opened box and it started up, but kept dying. After trying to read through the manual and troubleshoot ourselves we found a video online about adjusting the carb. Unfortunately, you can’t do this unless you buy a special tool.

So now I have a $200 USELESS weed eater unless I either spend more time and money to go find this tool locally or order online. This is ridiculous to require a specialty just to adjust something and the machine can’t run without it.

Either include it in the box or change the design. Most likely will returning it and asking for a refund. I’ll buy from a company that doesn’t try to nickel and dime their customers. Will never buy this brand again.

Online reviews were good, so I took a chance & I am happy. The battery will run for about 20 – 30 minutes wacking weeds & take 8 hours to recharge. My set came with the blower as well and a second battery! It is a professional looking charger, and the batteries are more advanced than those offered with the Matrix drill/ interchangable system- yes I bought one of those too on the same day- on SALE! Remember the nightmares of getting long grass or vines wrapped around the shaft of your gas trimmer? Having to shut down, cut & pull all the binding debris out? FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THAT NOW! This baby has not clogged in the least! No “tapping” to release more line (that’s what killed my Troy Built straight arm- it stripped the worm gear).

This baby automatically releases the line for you! I have drip systems & micro sprinklers- 1/4″ tubing aboveground. My old unit used to pretty much destroy them if I got too close. This B&D unit may pull the sprinkler out of place, but it won’t damage it or wrap around the shaft creatng leaks.

The B&D uses 0. 65 line and is optimal for the speed at which it operates. There are replacement spools available, or you can rewind your old spool. I live in the South, so I deal with some rather tough grass types & weeds.

This B&D unit takes care of them- Sedge, Crabgrass, blackberry, Virginia Creeper, just about anything without a woody stem- it will even cut seedling gumball & oak trees! There may be higher voltage trimmers out there, BUT- this BATTERY powers the ENTIRE LINE of MATRIX products!!! Drill, circular saws, flashlight, reciprocating saw, sander, router, hedge trimmer, weed wacker, blower, impact driver.

I’m sure new ones will come along even though I haven’t listed them all. Awesome! 1 year manufacurer warranty, with optional 2 year extension through Wal-Mart. How can you go wrong? I’m usually a sceptic, very pleasantly suprised! Replacement batteries are like $50, so I got the weed wacker, blower , and charger for $25- well, that’s how I look at it anyway.

My neighbor has this exact model and I borrowed his, so I knew what to expect. I bought mine refurbished from CPO and paid about half of what he did purchasing at a big blue & Gray box store locally.

Then I got double the warranty from CPO, I got a 2 year warranty rather than he standard one year warranty. I know my neighbor has had his rechargable trimmer several years already. This B&D LST 220 R2 rechargable combination trimmer/edger comes with 2 – 20 volt Lithium Ion batteries and a charger.

I got tired of mixing gas and oil, pulling the starter rope 100 times attempting to get the 2 cycle gas engine running, changing spark plugs; then when it finally did start it smoked, stunk and was noisey.

My neighbor Bob gave me a hot tip and I knew what I wanted after that, I ordered from CPO right away. Matter of fact several of the neighbors here have already converted to this unit. ! I had a minor problem with the adjustable auxillary handle locking in place properly, but CPO handled the problem immediatly; they DO ship FAST ! I highly recommend this unit for the suburban dweller.

You might want something bigger for the back 40 acres. CPO sells those too.

Shipped and received in good condition and on time. However the Auxiliary handle would come out of place during its use. Also it might be good for a very Small yard only, not enough power to cut half acre or more.

Even though lightweight, I had to bend over quite a bit to cut. I am only 5 foot 9 inches tall. Just seems very cheaply made. Would not recommend this product. Used only one time. Purchased a ECHO GT225 gas trimmer for about 20 dollars more and it worked much better.

Do not buy! Still have price tag on this machine is how little I’ve used it. Clutch is out, won’t run on reg gas, only the canned stuff. Now I have a useless pole saw attachment because I will never buy Huskavarna ever again!.

I use this trimmer commercially on about 20 residential properties. It has plenty of power, and isn’t overly heavy on my acreages and customers lots that require a lot of line work. I purchased so I could add the edger attachment later as my edger is almost toast.

The unit is VERY cold blooded. Bogs and hesitates until it’s had a good minute plus run time on fast idle. Doesn’t matter if it’s my 2 stroke mix or Stihl fuel, no difference either way. Good addition to my trailer all considering.

There’s no beating this trimmer. It runs so smoothly, has more power than I expected/need. It’s perfectly balanced, and is literally 6 feet long from end to end, so it’s got a ton of reach and keeps you far back from flying objects and debris.

After I bought mine, a friend came by, tried it and threw down the money to have me order him one on the spot. It’s not California emissions complaint so it runs like a weed eater should, like they ran 20 years ago.

Look no further, you’re not going to do any better for this price point.

I am very pleased with the Toro Power Plex Brushless Trimmer. I had PowerPlex chainsaw that uses the same battery and charger, so I was able to purchase the trimmer and not incur the cost of the battery and charger.

Since my chainsaw is used infrequently, this trimmer option allowed me to make better use of the battery I had. The trimmer works very well. It is sturdy, easy to assemble, powerful, and is very quiet.

I had a gas powered trimmer before this purchase that required a gas/oil mixture and a lot of pulling at the cord to get it started. I was afraid that a battery powered trimmer was not going to be powerful enough.

This PowerPlex trimmer has plenty of power and eliminates all of the cord pulling and gas mixing. It did the same job as the gas powered trimmer with much less hassle. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this product.

First impressions were that it was easy to handle and seemed to be well made. I did think that it was a bit heavy on the battery end compared to what I thought it would be. But I will take the heavy as long as it’s because the battery will hold the charge for a longer amount of time.

I think it could use a strap to make it easier on the back specially for extended time of use. The trimmer easily finished my entire front and back yard on one charge and cut through everything with no troubles (about 30-45 min.

). The factory string was wound a bit tight and I did have trouble a few times with it jamming in the reel. However, after I rewound the whole reel, the troubles went away. I would have also liked for the head of the unit to be able to swivel, so that the trigger isn’t in a weird angle when its on its side.

The charger seems to work as described and it seems to fully charge the battery in less than 30 min. from at or close to a dead battery.

Great unit for my property! Easily comparable with my gas trimmer with the added bonus of not having the sometimes tedious task of trying to start the engine. Just squeeze the trigger and go! Plenty of battery life to finish the whole yard with charge to spare.

Was skeptical due to some of the battery powered equipment I’ve used in the past. I’ve been a hard line believer in gas powered lawn equipment but this unit has changed my opinion.

Found the perfect trimmer for my yard. My old one would not start reliably and Arlington had a great deal on price, shipping and options for this Echo trimmer. Shipped quickly and I used it to mow down a large stand of Japanese Stiltgrass in very quick time.

Light, easy starting amd great throttle response. Speed load head is also definitely the way to go for speed. Good quality as usual from echo. Already have used well over 15hrs and is perfect
