20 Best Weight Gainer Bars (2022 Updated)

I really enjoyed the cookies and cream flavour, a far cry from the first quest bar I ever tried from the chemist warehouse -chocolate brownie flavour. My lesson: do NOT buy quest bars from the chemist warehouse, they are stale, and taste like they have been fermented in alcohol.

SPRINTFIT is my go to place to buy quest bars, they taste like they have been kept and stored. very well, they taste fresh and amazing. Fast shipping too which is absolutely awesome. I would like to give the quest team a big thank you! well done.

Overall quest is a very good snack, I find that once you get over the initial oddness of the protein flavour, you start to crave this yummy snack and immensely enjoy it. Your body realises that it has valuable nutrition, therefore making it a really nice experience, eating it.

Not only does it satisfy my tastebuds, but it also helps with my performance when and endurance when I run. The only downside is gas. Don’t eat any more than 1-2 a day. RIP my sister who sleeps in the same room as me.

But hey, the sprint fit eggplant grape flavoured car refreshner does wonders for my Bedroom ??.

First off I want to say I LOVED the original formula. It sucks that it takes a product change to bring me to a review. But it is what it is. I loved the original formula of the protein bars. But this new “ softer “ formula is terrible.

People would talk about microwaving the old formula ones for a softer warm treat. So I am guessing quest thought “ hey , let’s just make them mushy “. But that’s nonsense. I live in a hot and humid climate that goes almost year round.

These new softer ones can not hold up. It’s cookie dough bubble gum by the time I reach for one. I was good for 12-15 bars a week as I always keep extra on the boat for clients or extras for friends on land.

People used to ask info about them after exposing them to the bars for the first time. But that’s no longer happening as of the last 3 weeks. Hopefully you guys fix this. I’ve even tried freezing them and putting them in the cooler but they still get soft so fast.

I’ve been a huge consumer and fan of the Quest protein bars for years, but the recent change in the formula that took place sometime in 2022 made the bars WAY too soft and are even smaller now. The original formula was a perfect balance between firm and soft.

New formula is too soft and chewy and even sticks to the wrapper much more when opening now. This is across board for ALL flavors. Quest, I see a lot of complaints about this change not only here but on Amazon, Reddit and other sites.

Unfortunately it took a major complaint for me to submit a review, also after reading many other complaints about this. Quest, PLEASE listen to your customers. The bars WERE perfect. I can’t buy these any more now.

Let’s see if Quest responds.

I have to admit that my favorite flavor of these bars is the Carmel Crunch, but these are a close second. The Mtn Ops Bars are the best that I have tasted so far and a significant step above those from typical protein bars found at the grocery store/gym to others that are specifically geared towards hunters.

Not only do they have great flavor, but they actually have texture, crunch, and some character compared to the dozens of hard and plasticy bars that are all to common. If it says anything, once I receive my box, I have to hide them in the closet from my wife and son who are notoriously picking eaters.

If left out, I am sure they would be gone within a day or two. Thank you for actually putting some thought, creativity, and good ingredients into a bar.

These really do taste good, and I love what MO is doing with nutrition. If you have texture issues, you may not care for the aggressively crunchy bits on top. The biggest problem I have with them is that, like any “coated” bar, they WILL melt.

They came shipped on ice with a warning to not let them sit on your porch after delivery. They WILL NOT hold up in a backpack, pocket, or even in a hot car during a road trip. They’ll turn into a melty mess.

They’re fine to eat on the way to work in the morning, or to keep in the office for a midday snack. If you want a bar to take on a hunt or hike or in the boat, you may want to go with something a little more durable.

These are the best tasting protein bars I have ever had!!! I’ve shared them with about a dozen people now and they where all surprised at how well they taste. Usually I get the Quest bars and still do out of convenience.

The Mtn. Ops bars seem more like an actual meal replacement and so the price higher seems worth it and relevant to bang for the buck. All the three flavors are good. I cleaned out the local Cabela’s and I’m ordering some now.

I like a lot of Mtn. Ops (Optimal Performance Supplements) other products too. I also like that the Mtn. Ops was started by Outdoorsman for Outdoorsman, not some “Granola Tree Huggers”. They are avid hunters, give them a look.

Glad Cabela’s is carrying their products again, makes it very convenient to swing by at times instead of ordering. Only one problem with Mtn. Ops at Cabela’s, usually get sucked into buying something else too.

First time buying the Apple Pie Met Rx bars. It was a nice change from chocolate and peanut butter, but these weren’t practical for my lifestyle. I very much buy these for a fast snack or meal replacement when there’s no time for a sit down meal.

They are very messy and sticky to eat as the top layer is almost like a syrup. I had to have wet wipes close by or risk leaving a mess with everything I touched. If you aren’t in a hurry and at home, I would recommend these without hesitation since they do taste great.

Its the best one I think. Its got real fruit and that’s good for you plus all the other vitamins and protein. It would be good if there wasn’t any artificial stuff in it but that’s probably what makes it tastes a lot better, otherwise without that you might not like it as much or something.

I’m sure they can find a way to make it all natural and taste good but the price would most likely increase and they would lose out sales. I don’t know how good artificial things are but if it tastes good and everything else is really good then its a small price to pay.

One of my favorite on the go breakfast options and honestly the dark chocolate chip is the best flavor I’ve hade so far! These are so good, you won’t realize it has a lot of awesome healthy ingredients.

It’s a little high in sugar, but it’s made with peanut butter and honey, which are the first and second ingredients (plus, of course, the chocolate chips on top). So it’s not a health food, but a great option for protein, fiber, and unsaturated fats.

Plus, they are organic!They need to be refrigerated, but can be out for up to a week. Personally, I like them out of the fridge for 5 minutes. Highly recommend trying these for a great morning start! #breakfaststaples #healthysnacks #sweettreats.

This is basically a bar made of nut butter and a bunch of superfoods. It’s as if I’m biting into a thick peanut butter bar. It kinda reminds me of De La Rosa Mazapan. That being said it is dry so be sure to have something to drink.

I was afraid of trying this one after trying the dark chocolate chip bar because I thought it would be bland without chocolate. It actually turned out pretty good. The extra peanut butter helps not only the flavor but the dryness as well.

Best part of it all is that I felt full (for a while) after eating one. These are definitely on-the-go friendly. I think I’ll be purchasing this in the future.

I literally look forward to eating one of these everyday! The first time I had this flavor it tasted like chocolate chip cookie dough in bar form. My favorite way to eat them is to let it sit out for awhile so it’s soft.

I buy mine at Costco and they have their own bin in my refrigerator. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve got hooked on these also. Lastly, if you’re into hiking or backpacking like me know these will last on your trips.

I packed one for everyday on a 5day backpacking trip and they lasted just fine. I take one every time I have long travel days too.

I buy this regularly, although mostly from Walmart because they cost more here on Amazon. But I had found them on sale here, and a rather good sale, so I bought three boxes, because even at a decent price these aren’t exactly cheap.

But the quality of these bars are awful compared to all of the previous ones I’ve bought. First, the packaging was all bent, and they were taped as if they had come open. And many of the bars were also bent.

At first we thought it was just the first box, and even maybe they were edible and only mishapen. But when we opened the first one it was in horrible shape. The bottom was white and kind of crumbly. I think maybe they were melted, maybe even multiple times.

We still tried them out, because sometimes things will look bad but taste fine, but no, these tasted just awful. My first instinct was to throw them away, but then I came to my senses and am returning them for a refund.

These aren’t bad bars when they’re fresh, but I would be wary of buying them from here. I’ve never had this problem when buying from Walmart, so maybe give that a go.

I didn’t love the taste and texture of these bars. They had a jelly-like consistency. I guess I’m not used to that in a protein bar. They didn’t taste terrible, but definitely didn’t taste like cookies and cream.

I like the nutrition facts on them though and my boyfriend likes them so I will probably purchase again.

I purchased the cookies and cream and the peanut butter brownie bars. Both are really good, with the cookies and cream being my favourite so far. They’re tasty with lots of protein and not a lot of calories, chewy with a nice chocolate coating, and easy to grab on the go.

Definitely my go to bar, and I’m looking forward to trying more flavours!!.

This is one of the worst tasting protein bars I have tried. I read all of the reviews before purchasing as I saw a referral for these but wanted to make sure that the reviews were good. I don’t usually purchase a box without first trying a bar.

When I opened the bar I knew I wasn’t going to like it and then once I tasted it I was still disappointed. I didn’t like the texture or the taste. I bought the double chocolate.

Both these flavors are great, but the cookies & cream is one of my favorites. I love that these protein bars are so low in sugar, and I love the chewy texture along with the crunchy inclusions. BUT they use erythritol which may cause gas in some people (I’m people), so I don’t eat more than 1 a day.

It’s probably more efficient to get dietary protein from a variety of sources anyway. This bar also uses whey, so it may not be suitable for people who get skin breakouts from whey, people who can’t eat dairy, and people on a plant-based diet.

Do not buy these. Buy the ones you know you like even if they cost more. In fact, buy extra boxes of what you like so you dont run out and have to buy these when your favorite is out of stock. Should that happen, you are better off just eating a can of tuna.

Even if you hate tuna. These are horrible. One can tolerate how they chew, and even the way they kind of stick to your teeth, but oh the taste. No. No. No. These get a high score for “icky protein bar after taste”.

I generally stick with more natural flavors, like peanut butter and chocolate, but I had no choice, Sam’s was out of both of my first two favorite bars (THiNK and premier large bar). And they are not cheap.

Sam’s Clubbers dont let other Sam’s Clubbers buy these. Heed the warning.

Not a fan of either of these flavors. Why not carry a variety for your customers and give them more to choose from. Like the flavor birthday cake! Peanut butter! Brownie and the blueberry. The problem with the variety box is not everyone likes both of those flavors.

Quest has the most protein. low cal. low sugar and is such a great choice keto friendly. We also need to see more choices in your eau claire store. This is disappointing for those of us that love these bars but do not like the only choice you have and it’s only online.

I got to try Kellogg’s Special K Brownie Batter Protein meal bars. I really wanted to try the blueberry or strawberry flavors but they only had strawberry at my store, and it was the 12 ct. I’m a fan of Special K as a brand and was sure that I would like these because of that reason alone.

I chose the brownie batter as it seemed a good choice to share with others. I really liked it a lot! I watch what I eat and this to me seemed like a dessert instead of a protein bar! My mom tried it and she doesn’t typically like protein bars but she really liked it as well! My husband tried it and unfortunately he did not like it.

He said it was because of the pieces inside of the bar, that they tasted chalky. I plan on sharing this with at least a couple more people, and l love the opportunity to try and share this product with others.

I would recommend this flavor, and I’m certain the fruit flavors are really good as well! These are filling, not overly sweet as they don’t hurt my teeth and have a good source of vitamin D among other things.

Give these a try!!.

I loved this flavor of protein bar. It was very chocolate forward as expected. I was happy that there wasn’t any of that typical “protein bar taste” with these. I enjoyed the crunchy bits that add more character to the bar.

This is so good it feels more like a dessert treat loaded with vitamins, minerals, protein and even 3g of fiber! It kept me full for a good 2 hours, so while I wouldn’t call it a full meal replacement it’s definitely a great option to hold hunger off if you are on the go.

I really excited to try the chocolatey chip cookie dough next. Overall, I highly recommend these bars for a quick snack that’s loaded with some good stuff and will keep hunger at bay.

I have never tried these before and am seriously shocked with how GOOD they are! They do not have that cardboard protein taste…but rather taste like a treat. I split mine with a teen and they agreed…noting that it would make a great breakfast! This is an awesome option to have along to avoid high fat drive through food on busy days.

I’m so glad I was chosen to try this bar and I’m looking forward to finding the strawberry & blueberry to try next! This did satisfy my mid afternoon hunger. I only ate a half bar because I was between meals so I believe this would satisfy me for a meal…maybe with some added fresh fruit.

A while ago I was looking into protein bars/powders and therefore had gained some knowledge on the matter before these were sent to me in exchange for my honest opinion. I was very excited when I received these and I’ll tell you why.

Firstly, I think it’s crucial to know the role of protein especially if you’re trying to lose/gain weight. Without adequate protein you wont be able to do either of those properly or as easily. Now, the best way to get that protein is through your meals aka unprocessed products.

But sometimes, when for whatever reason, you can’t get the amount of protein you need through your meals, then you can use protein bars to make up for that. The reason why you don’t want to do that regularly is that protein bars are processed products at the end of the day and you’d want to limit the number of times you intake processed products.

But if you ever need to take protein bars, this brand is the best according to my research (or at least one of the best). The ingredients are more healthy and it is less processed compared to other brands.

Does it taste just as good as other brands? No because its less processed and has less sugar etc. So it makes sense. Does it taste bad? No, it tastes alright as long as you don’t expect it to taste like a regular granolla bar.

They have a variety of flavours so you can pick the one that you’d like more. I personally don’t like coconut that much so I liked the chocolate banana flavour more than the other ones. Overall, recommend 100% for the days you have to make up for your low protein intake.

I purchased these to fill me up in between meals and especially for work. I’m picky on what I’m eating so from the get-go I was happy to see a very short list of ingredients. I love almonds and I wish you could pound these bars with them but really you guys put just about the perfect amount, you pretty much get a crunch out of each bite.

I agree with some reviews that talk about the texture and stickiness of the fruity part of the bar. It kind of throws me off sometimes and takes me away from the taste. I start to think about those old candy fruit leather things from back in the day :/.

These are obviously amazing compared. The best to me is the blueberry. The taste is more like a wild berry and the texture fits this specific flavor to me. 2nd would have to be the chocolate sea salt.

For this flavor the sea salt works perfectly with their common ingredients in the RXbars that they use, it stands out. A little bit more salt would be sweet. If I could change something about them it would be adding more crunch and making each flavor stand out more, even from appearance.

They simply slap.

I personally like very much the Rx bar ! I believe the taste is not fake or powdery like whey based products. You can actually taste each of the ingredient that is part of the bar blend. The texture is also very smooth and soft/jelly like because of the dates which is very different than the usual crisp-oat texture.

The packaging is also pretty neat. I like the minimalistic approach. It gives the bar more pretence compared to an overly colored wrapping. Its straightforward and lists the major ingredients. Overall, I have seen the bar sell for a price that is a little more expensive than what id be ready to buy.

Most probably the cost of all the natural ingredients adds up, but it is more expensive than a clif bar for example that ive been eating for over a decade. Overall, I give this product a 4,5/5 because I really like it, but I can get the equivalent in a clif bar at a much smaller price.

This is my first try of the Fulfil range. I am trying them, as I am struggling to get my usual 60g Atkins mint bars, so thought I needed to look for alternatives. I was not keen on this peanut butter bar, I found it quite bitter and left an aftertaste in my mouth.

However, that may just be me, not being keen on peanut butter as I absolutely loved the Fulfil Peanut Caramel bar and will certainly be buying it again. I also enjoyed their milk chocolate and mint bar, although it isn’t as nice as the Atkins one.

However, whilst I can’t get the Atkins mint bars I will be buying this one again too. I still have a few other flavours to try.

The peanut and caramel fulfil bar is one of my all time fave protein snacks so I was excited to try the white chocolate version and have been waiting for protein pick and mix to get them in stock! Needless to say, this did not disappoint! I usually prefer milk chocolate but this was amazing and I would actually say I preferred it to the milk chocolate version! Defo recommend.

This is truly disgusting to eat. I would not recommend. It taste like coco powder without any sweetness and protein powder. A brownie needs sweetness to offset the bitter. I had to eat something else to get rid of the taste.

I’ve been buying different flavors of these bars for the last year or so from HEB and I have mixed feelings. The main two flavors I enjoy are Fruity Cereal (so of course that one is never available anymore) and Munchies, and Cookies and Cream is OK as well.

I’ve tried Cookie Dough and Chocolate Cake too but didn’t love either one. The main issue I have is that most of them taste. stale? For example, I ate a Cookies and Cream bar this morning and it was like chewing cold, thick caramel.

I should note it was not cold, the little crunchy bits in it weren’t crunchy and the rest of the filling was harder. I don’t know how else to describe it. I have this same issue with all of the other flavors, except Fruity Cereal.

I assume it’s just the norm for these and has nothing to do with the ones I’m getting in particular, as none of them have been close to expiring or show any other signs of being exposed to air or anything like that.

I don’t plan to purchase anymore after the ones I currently have on hand are gone, if I can get myself to eat them.

I did not like these. They’re hard and dry implying high saturated fat content, and sure enough, coconut oil, a potent LDL raiser. Coconut oil isn’t healthy. I have no idea why anyone would think that oxidized saturated fat (and it will be oxidized because these bars aren’t freshly made to order) is a good thing.

Please research actual studies about oxidized fats, sat fats, soy protein isolates and what they do to insulin, and disease. I’m sorry, but nothing will beat fresh food for health. Certainly not dry, man-made packaged food replacements; they are loaded with free radicals.

Super glad I got 2 single bars to try first. One for me, one for my husband. He ended up trying a piece of mine and ummm? now we just have a lonely cookie dough bar in our pantry lol idk why we haven?t thrown it out but it was SO hard that I absolutely had to put it in the microwave to try to taste because I thought I was going to break a tooth.

It was almost as if we put it in the freezer for 45 mins beforehand. It was very bland, didn?t taste like cookie dough but most definitely gave the aftertaste of ?protein bar? which honestly is something my husband and I both hate.

ALL THIS to say, buy a single bar first and go from there.

I quite like the taste and the nutritional values. I don’t like that it sticks to my teeth a bit. I’ll try out other bars before buying this again.

I like this product. Good protein to calorie balance. Good taste. Feels fine after consumption (no after taste).

For extra protein intake, there are much better options for best price.

These bars are DELICIOUS. Since receiving them in the mail I have demolished them every day. They taste amazing. You should buy 12 boxes today. Only down side for these was they came absolutely melted so dealing with that was a little frustrating but stick them in the fridge and they mostly take form again.

But you absolutely need to try these!!!!.

These were surprisingly good. I thought they would be like most protein bars and taste like sugar coated cardboard but I really liked them. They have just enough sweetness to them to curb that sugar craving but not overload you on carbs and fat like a candy bar would.

Definitely plan to buy more.

I really enjoy changing things up a bit with the pumpkin spice, while it’s not my favorite flavor it’s still good. I like the crunchy little bits and it’s a great alternative to all the other pumpkin stuff in the grocery stores, I feel like I’m having a treat, but I’m also hitting my protein goals.
