A welder is a person who uses welding equipment to join two pieces of metal together. Welders can work in a variety of settings, including construction sites, factories, and repair shops. Some welders also work as freelance contractors, providing their services to businesses and individuals.
Welding is a process that heats two pieces of metal to a high temperature and then joins them together. The metal is joined together by a process called fusion, which melts the metal and allows it to flow together.
Welders use a variety of tools and techniques to create a strong, durable joint.
Most welders use an electric arc welder, which uses an electric current to create the arc. The arc welder has a power supply, a welding electrode, and a ground clamp. The electrode is connected to the power supply and is used to strike the arc.
The ground clamp is attached to a metal surface and is used to complete the circuit.
The welder uses the arc welder to create an arc between the electrode and the metal surface. The arc is used to heat the metal and create the weld. The welder must have the correct welding equipment and be properly trained to create a strong, durable weld.

I bought this portable Lincoln wire welder to make fence and gate repairs on the property. it looks good, but with the extreme drought we are experiencing, I haven’t had the opportunity to make sparks.
Hopefully this fall after some rains, I can put it to good use.
Outstanding welding machine, for my arsenal to make small- medium , and even large metal repairs like fencing, railing, and auto repairs for beginners, to Med-level welders ready, set, go and your welding.
First choice was harbor freight common welder always on sale this is steps up over 100 more. It works for me! Do your research watch YouTube comparison reviews.
Easy to use. 1. Turn power on. 2. Select Process: AC TIG, DC TIG or DC Stick. 3. Set amperage based on material thickness. Then weld! Itís easy as 1,2,3. Pro-Set feature (professional settings) eliminates the guesswork when setting weld parameters.
Use Pro-Set when you want the speed, convenience and confidence of pre-set controls. Simply select the feature and adjust until Pro-Set appears on the display. AC balance control provides adjustable oxide removal which is essential for creating the highest quality aluminum welds.
Pulse Pulsing can increase puddle agitation, arc stability and travel speeds while reducing heat input and distortion. Auto-Set automatically sets your welder to the proper parameters. Simply set the wire size, material thickness, and shielding gas, and youíre ready to weld.
Fan-On-Demand improves power efficiency and reduces noise and maintenance by decreasing the amount of airborne contaminants pulled though the machine. DIG control allows the arc characteristics to be changed for specific applications and electrodes.
Lower the DIG setting for smooth running electrodes like E7018 and increase the DIG setting for stiffer, more penetrating electrodes like E6010. Multi-voltage plug (MVP) allows for connection to 120 or 240-volt receptacles without tools by choosing the plug that fits the receptacle and connecting it to the power cord.
Upgradeable and expandable. Front panel memory card data port provides the ability to easily upgrade software and expand product features. Low power draw. Inverter-based power source provides full welding output from 230 V while drawing less than 30 amps.
Adjustable AC frequency allows for more control during TIG process on various material thicknesses.
First off, Cyberweld. You guys were great to deal with and were very communicative when I had questions regarding the status of my shipping. I would definitely purchase from you again. The Syncrowave seems like a fantastic machine.
I was very impressed with the arc stability on the first couple stitch welds I did with it. Very similar performance to the Miller Dynastys I use at work. I’m hoping it’ll serve me well for many years and projects to come.
dont listen to the nay sayers. this things is awesome. welding on 1/4 inch aluminum no problem with the right set up. invest in the water cooled torch adapter and a 250 amp torch. and make sure to run it on 240 to get everything out of her.
but man this thing makes some clean freaking welds. not unhappy with my purchase at all. time to get some work done.
Great unit so far, 35 years of GTAW experience SCWI – teaching my boys to weld- simple set-up and smooth arc performance. Have not tried modes other than DC Tig yet, but so far happy with the unit. I think a very nice and versatile package great for learning and refining skill, small shop or weekend welder.
Also purchased the Miller folding welding table 30 FX arc station, it is solid, portable and easy to store out of the way when not in use. Nice work Miller! Affordable and will ignite enthusiasm of welding for all levels of ability-.
The Titanium? This all-in-one welder package features advanced DC Based inverter technology that produces a more stable arc and cleaner welds all while reducing weight down to only 15 lbs. ! That’s over 50% lighter than conventional transformer based machines.
The Easy Flux 125 also includes all the modern safety features such as thermal overload protection and cold start wire feeding so you can concentrate on the job, not the machine. Includes welder and gun package, contact tips and nozzles.
The Miller Multimatic 255 comes complete with full color seven inch LCD screen with Auto-Set Elite technology. Auto-Set Elite sets MIG, Stick and TIG welding parameters automatically, all you need to do is enter metal thickness and welding wire or tungsten electrode diameter.
In addition to built-in welding programs, the 255 can also store your custom welding programs. It seamlessly switches between welding with standard MIG gun or optional Spoolmatic spool gun. The 255 also features direct plug for XR push-pull gun for professional aluminum wire feed capability.
This allows you to use 12 inch spools of aluminum MIG wire instead of the more expensive 1 lb rolls used with the spool gun. EZ-Latch running gear with dual cylinder and elevated gun & cable rack gives unmatched portability to the Multimatic 255.
For times when your 255 is taken into the field, the machine and running gear can be quickly separated for loading into a vehicle. The elevated gun and cable rack helps keep MIG guns, Spool Guns, TIG torches and cables out of the way for easier movement within the workspace.
NOTE: EZ-Latch running gear comes in separate box and requires some assembly. Components assemble in four steps and include: cart with front caster wheels, dual cylinder tray with rear wheels, dual cylinder post and gun & cable rack.
The Miller Multimatic 255 runs on 208 to 575 volt input power, using Miller’s Auto-Line technology that automatically detects input voltage. It comes complete with TIG kit with 150 amp air-cooled TIG torch, MIG welding gun, shielding gas regulator with hose, stick electrode holder and ground clamp.
I had been eyeing this upgrade for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It was worth the wait. The intuitiveness of the menu system is ideal. The ability to save 4 personalized settings per welding process is a huge time saver.
Switching between processes is done in about 20 seconds and the Pulse feature is everything I hoped it would be especially in TIG on sheet metal.
I went blue based on other reviews and availability of consumables locally, Although I almost always purchase online as I did with this order. Small Delays, Bakers sent me the 1st one threw UPS as it arrived in pieces.
Baker’s made it right sent me another quick! The unit came almost perfect! when it was time to set up, the wire would catch on the liner within the Bernard MDX gun. Called Miller they sent me a new liner.
I have patients, lots of it! after the setbacks this unit continues to impress and reassure the investment. Thank you Baker’s Gas and Welding Supplies for great service and I am a big fan of your youtube channel!.
Baker’s is first class operation. Team was super knowledgable and helped answer every question I had. If you are in doubt talk to them they know what they are talking about and stock welders.

Customer service is top notch. I ordered from Canada, so there was a heft shipping fee, and also, I got slapped with an import fee at the border. When I contacted them, they said I could either return it and they would refund all money, or, they would give me a $50 credit usd (half the import fee).
I took the credit, and got the machine. So far I have burned some 6011 and 6013 rod on the 110v setting (on a house breaker rated for 15 Amps), running between 70-90 amps on the machine. Ran just fine, 15 amp extension cord did not heat up at all, although, I only burned a few rods, with some breaks in between (I haven’t welded in awhile).
The welds looked fine (they were as good as I was, this welder looks entirely capable of a nice bead). The starts were a little cold, but that is to be expected, it does not have a hot start feature.
I was just practicing on 1/8″ sheet metal with 3/32 and 1/8 rods, but at 70 amps it had the sheet glowing, and the bottom side was well scorched, so it is clear there was penetration. On 1/8″ sheet there better be, but the point is I was running 70 amps machine setting on a 110v 15 amp house outlet, at the end of a 32 foot extension cord, and nothing was stressing out.
Same with at 90 amps. Using 1/8″ rod, it had the sheet glowing red hot, and the extension cord was still cool, and the breaker did not trip.
I purchased this machine several years ago, primarily for the plasma cutter and Tig welder functions of the unit. I also liked the idea of being able to use it on 120V or 240V. I have been using it on 240V since I purchased it until a couple of days ago.
I came across a situation where 240V was not available but 120V was which was the situation I purchased it for. It doesn’t cut much thicker than 1/8″ steel and I needed to cut 1/4″. The drouth is horrible, regardless of what air pressure you use.
Jagged cuts, at best, 27amps maximum, which isn’t enough heat to get a clean cut. Very disappointed with the 120V application I purchased it for but it does a very good job with the 240V power. Good unit for the home welder but not for what I wanted it to do.
The Tig and stick welder parts of this machine work good on up to 1/8″ steel plate on stick and 1/4″ aluminum on 120V but, you have to go slowly. Both models are great on 240V and I have a foot pedal for Tig welding.
All I want to say is WOW!!!! I sat on the fence for a few weeks, deciding what welder to buy to build my roll off dumpster truck. When I came across the Primeweld CT520DP, it offered everything that I needed and more.
The plasma cutter cuts 3/8 steel in one pass, with only needing to lightly chip the slag off the back side. (Not beating it, tapping it, for real). Actually, I have cut 3/8″ all the way down to sheet metal, maybe 16ga.
I also did a gouge cut on 1″ solid rod when the torch ran out of gas. This was the first time I used an inverter welder, and at least 15 years since I have stick welded. The learning curve was completed in minutes.
Using 5/32 6011 rod at 155 amps gave good penetration thru 1/4″ box beam, and 3/32 rod fixed my mower deck, which was more of a project to play around, but thats a whole different story. I also turned the heat up to its max of 200Amps, sat for a few seconds and blew right thru the 1/4″ material, so it definitely throws some current thru the rod.
I’m totally new to TIG welding, bought a regulator and rented a tank. I tried it on a few scrap pieces and it worked very well, and like I said, I’ve never done it before. I watched Paul Jr on American Chopper for 8 seasons, so I felt I had a good teacher.
Not perfect, but that’s all on my end. Oh, and the MOST important part, and probably my biggest concern was the duty cycle. Well, I ran the plasma cutter at the max, 50Amps and the welder at 155 Amps for hours, constantly switching back and forth, It is winter so I am sure that helps, but it NEVER went into protection mode either.
The kit came with a few extra nozzles and cups, or consumables as they seem to be called, the only time I had to switch a plasma torch consumable set out was when I got sloppy, let my air pressure drop and touched the metal.
I will clean that up, and keep trucking. Overall, I am EXTREMELY pleased with buying thid unit. I will be building many 12 Yard dumpsters with it now, so I will surely put it to the test. Oh, and at 25lbs, give or take, it always gets put away!!.
The Hobart Handler 140 MIG welder has been upgraded with new features normally found in much more expensive welders. The Handler 140’s wire drive motor is now made out of cast aluminum, not plastic, providing smooth, industrial grade wire feeding.
Voltage control has been upgraded from 4 taps to 5, giving the operator greater voltage control for more precise welding arc control. The new heavy duty steel ground clamp is an upgrade over the lighter copper ground clamp found in previous Handler 140 models.
The Hobart Handler 140 operates off 115-volt standard household current for maximum versatility and comes ready to weld with or without shielding gas, no additional kit required. With an amperage output range of 25 – 140, it easily handles a broad selection of solid mild steel or stainless, flux cored and aluminum wires.

This welder has an amazing amount of power packed in a small package. I have only used it plugged into 230v. I have not tried the adapter. It runs a steady arc with 7018. It is a little hard to get the arc started.
It handles 3/32″ and 1/8″ rods with no problem. The only drawback that I have seen is the electrode holder. It is almost worthless. I replaced it with a hobart immediately after trying it and all is well now.
I received the welder yesterday and had several projects waiting on it. I used about 3 lbs of rod in it so far and it has worked well. I switched the leads for some lighter metal and it worked fine. I would not recommend for light sheet metal as it is hard to keep the penetration shallow enough as with most stick welders.
I am not a career welder. I have owned a millermatic 210, century 140, lincoln 180, and lincoln 220 buzz box in the past. I still find it hard to believe the power in this size welder for $149. It is not a Millermatic 210, but for the price, I am pleasantly suprised at how it works.
I am 77 years old and never touched a welder before I bought this one. I started using it on 110 volts and had trouble with the rod sticking to the metal. I did not know how to adjust the amps. I switched to 220 volts and it works great.
I have had it for a very short time but if it lasts I will be happy.
I’m old school heavy equipment mechanic with over 40 years experience. I’ve burned a couple tons or more of 7018 rod in that time. I bought this for my home garage. I only used with 120v input. The machine welds better than expected.
There is no input voltage selector switch. When using with 120v input I had to adjust output amps higher to compensate. Rather than 90-100 for 1/8 rod I had to adjust to 160-170A when using 120v input.
I suspect the specs are correct for 230v input but I doubt they are accurate for 120V input. An impressive little machine for the price.
This inverter arc welder has three specialized inverter functions for more power and versatility. The Hot Start feature gets you started on welds quickly and prevents electrode sticking. Other features include a thermal overload protection with indicator light and an easy-carry shoulder strap to transport it to the job.
A tree branch fell on the metal railing near my house and broke off a section of the rail. So, I purchased this small stick welder at Harbor Freight in order to reattach the metal sections. This little welder had more than enough power to do the job and do it well.
It was easy to set up and is so light and handy that one could hang it off a shoulder, if need be. As a bonus, the price is so low that I saved more than the purchase cash on its very first job. I intend to use it on some yard art as well, so this welder will be a handy tool in my collection that should see some frequent use.
From the brand you know comes the most dependable, portable, powerful stick welder – even if you don’t use it every day. Easy, quick and reliable arc starts with hot start technology. DC output means fewer arc outages, less sticking, less spatter and best arc control.
DC is the preferred output for the stick welding process. Nearly 100 lbs. lighter so you can work smarter not harder by bringing the welder to the work. It’s portable so it’s easier to carry and store.
More powerful, up to 85 A, compared to leading competitive machine means you can weld thicker materials.
Great great little welder. I wired mine to 220 right away so can’t say how 110 does but this little thing will really burn through the sticks. I have a wirefeed Millermatic and it’s great and welds great.
But to be honest this little welder does everything you could want. Have only welded upto 1/4″ but I’m sure 3/8 plate and probably more it could handle. Great job Hobart.
Bought this for the ability to weld just about anywhere without lugging my much larger (Thunderbolt, Trailblazer) and more expensive welders around. Just an amazing little welder. So small and light, and welds great.
First ran 1/16″ and 3/32″ 6011, 6013, 7014 on 120 volts. Nice arc quality on all 3; great starts. Didn’t have any small diameter 7018 to try. Tried some I/8″ 6011 and 6013–works but requires attention to maintain the arc.
Probably would not do that in the course of normal work. Switched to 240 volts; ran 1/8 in each kind of rod very nicely, as well as 7018. Capability for the price is excellent, and backed by a real warranty from Hobart though it is Chinese.
And when someone wants to borrow a welder, I feel much better loaning a $350 machine as opposed to my $3500 Dynasty 200. As usual, superb service from Cyberweld on this purchase.
This welder is perhaps and if not, the best inverter stick welder in the world. Yes, it is put together in China like the prestigious fruit cell phone, but they are both designed in America. You don’t have to be a welder by profession to know this.
Multi-process capabilities in a lightweight, versatile machine. Delivering 200 amps of output, the Multi-Handler 200 is capable of MIG, DC TIG and stick welding, giving you the flexibility to tackle many projects.
It can MIG and stick weld up to 3/8-inch material and TIG weld up to 3/16 inch. The color LCD makes setup and changeover easy. Connect the appropriate accessory for the process, change polarity if needed, select the process and dial in your parameters.
The parameter chart inside the door provides starting parameters for you to use. The Multi-Handler 200 has multi-voltage plug (MVP) technology so it can be used on either 120- or 240-volt input power.
The welding was phenomenal and actually I was a pretty good welder apparently because I have been making good welds with a very basic and flawed old Century welder. A good bead seams automatic using the new Hobart.
My Century finally gave out and I rented a Millermatic for a week while working on a bus conversion. The Hobart is very similar, but i liked the setting on the Miller better, much quicker to get in range, and the Millers torch is much better.
However the aluminum drive system is the same between the two and seems very good and rugged. It would be nice if the Hobart would use the metal thickness approach like Miller instead of amperage, which is more vague, I think.
I have not yet used the stick or the tig functions yet but will soon!.
Easy to set up, lots of adjustment to fine tune your weld. MIG settings are close, I found turning down wire speed a tad helps. Stick settings are pretty much spot on. TIG settings are on the high side, as a general rule, I drop 10a off the recommended setting and it works great.
I keep the gas @ 25 (using the supplied gauge) for MIG and TIG. Typical Hobart quality, top shelf. The owners manual is very informative, most questions can be answered within its pages. Process changes are very easy, just remember what leads go where, and settings are in memory so theres no loss when changing modes.
All in all, this machine can work all day and doesn’t sweat it a bit. Don’t be surprised when you start it up and you don’t hear a fan, it kicks in when needed and again at shutdown. Very pleased with this machine- great job Hobart!!.
I bought this welder as someone with no formal welding training. I started welding like a lot of people on a Lincoln AC 225. Most of what I do has been for repairs and modifications to existing things but I also wanted the ability to try my hand at some other projects from scratch.
It just made sense to have a multi-process welder for me in terms of convenience and space. I thought the price was reasonable for a welder that can do all that this one can do. I wouldn’t think a pro welder would necessarily want this but it’s great for the DIY in the garage welder like me.
I have used it several times already and it works great. Easy to set up and tote around if you need too. Very satisfied with this so far.

Just purchased our fifth Power Mig 256 for our busy little shop. These machines are easy to operate, and they work very well. As our shop grows, I have no doubt that we will buy more of these.
Not had a chance to use welder yet. Trying to put everything together to start welding (wire, extra tips, CO2 mix tank, etc. ). Very good price and fast free shipping. Have received acknowledgement that my rebate claim thru Lincoln has been approved, just waiting for payment.
This is the fourth welder i have purchased from Welding Supplies From IOC. As always very pleased with the Lincoln machine but exceptionally happy with the customer service that is provided. Excellent people to deal with.
The Lincoln Power welder package is what you need to get the job done, especially if you need a welding cart and a spool gun. Whether you are a farmer or a fabricator, work in an autobody shop or you’re a backyard mechanic, this powerful MIG machine let’s you MIG material up to 3/16″ (1/2″ with gasless flux-cored welding).
A welder is an important tool for anyone who enjoys working with metal, whether it’s for repairs, construction, or simply as a hobby. There are many different types of welders available on the market, but choosing the right one for your needs can be a daunting task.
However, by keeping a few key considerations in mind, you can be sure to find the welder that’s perfect for you.
The first thing to think about is what sorts of materials you’ll be working with. If you’re only interested in working with thin metals, then a MIG welder might be the best option for you. If you want to be able to weld thicker materials, then an arc welder would be a better choice.
Another important consideration is what sort of power source you’ll be using. If you have access to a 220-volt power outlet, then you’ll be able to use just about any welder. However, if you’re limited to a 110-volt outlet, then you’ll need to choose a welder that’s specifically designed for that voltage.
Finally, you’ll need to decide what sort of features you need in a welder. If you’re just getting started, then a basic welder will suffice. However, if you have more experience, then you might want to consider a welder with more advanced features, such as a built-in wire feeder or pulse function.
No matter what your welding needs are, there’s sure to be a welder out there that’s perfect for you. By keeping these key considerations in mind, you can be sure to find the welder that will help you create beautiful metal projects.
