20 Best Welder Generator Combo (2022 Updated)

First, kudos to Harris Welding Supply. My experience with your company has been nothing but the best, thank you all! This Lincoln welder is very nice, strong, nice arc, adjustable to one’s preferences.

Certainly all of this and more was designed by Lincoln’s engineers. It is quite compact, the housing is full. I’m glad this is the machine we chose (my grandson was a significant contributor to the choice).

Couldn’t be happier, and thanks again to the folks at Harris.

You can’t beat this deal, getting the machine, leads, and cover in this package deal they have. I’ve had it a week on the service truck and I’ve already put 31 hours on it. It welds like a dream, and the fuel consumption rate is great.

Ran for a 12 Hour day and was just hitting a 1/4 tank when quitting time rolled around. My only complaint is the way it mounts, kinda tight spaces to get into for bolts. But that’s not Harris’s fault.

Great machine but runs hot. Perfect size for my truck (1500 Silverado). Not too heavy. I have about 600 hours on it and it started doing some funky things, like the engine will surge when I put it in low idle for instance.

All in all a great little machine.

The only problem was the freight company. bad choise of company they hold my welder in there facility for more that a week, they schedule the delivery and never show-up, after beging to be able to will call the unit they give ne a date and a window of 1-5 pm i was ther at 4:00 pm to give them extra time to get it ready and sorprise they say will not be ready intill probably 2-3 more hours and maybe till tomorrow.

so they waisted my time for a second time. I’m a contractor and I have to pay people to stay and wait for the welder to be deliver, I Loose time going to pick-up this materials and money that i can be making working.

I end up loosing over $3000,00 for all the delays. And is not your company, you guys did a great job shipping ASAP. If that F$%#^&[email protected]% freight company you choose. “””Note: Was I suppost get a welding halmet ?? becuase I never got it.

This is the best welder I have owned . It is easy to use . The power is great very ideal for work around the job site farm fixing machinery etc.

I love Miller welders, I’ve had a few and no longer even look at other machines, thank you for a great product.

Terrific machine. No complaints. High quality and all modes work well. Cones with decent starting consumables and works out of the box, you just need gas. Ive mostly used the mig function which has consistently worked well with co2 argon mixture.

Stick also works as expected, and though tig is only scratch start and cannot weld aluminum, it works well and gave me the tools to learn to tig. It is my only welding machine in my garage and i use it all the time.

More than i thought i would. If you’re looking for something a bit better than that certain Chinese store HF (i go there too I’m not judging) i recommend this option. Arc is very stable.

Overall the MP200i is a good machine. My welding experience was mainly stick and it was a few years back, okay a few decades back. With that said, I was really interested in learning TIG. Yeah well this machine will TIG, but it’s a side hustle.

The 200i is an outstanding MIG especially on 220. It rocks. Okay I said I wanted to learn TIG. The 200i was how TIG was done 20 years ago. No foot pedal to adjust your amps, no high frequency start. scratch start, and a little valve on the torch to start/stop your gas.

Will it work. yes it will. Will you feel like your missing out on the good stuff, I did. As I said I wanted to learn TIG. I learned I didn’t know enough before I hit the buy button. I’m not knocking the machine.

It is what it is, but if you’re interested in doing TIG in 2020 you’ll probably be disappointed. The next machine up is a 250 and it’s got all the good stuff, or you can be stupid like me and buy a stand alone TIG machine that’s got the bells and whistles.

Now I have two TIGs I suck using. BTW, Eastwood doesn’t mislead, they say what it is. I didn’t know what I needed/wanted. Once again, this thing rocks as a MIG!.

I am so glad I bought the Eastwood MP200i. Because of its super consistent arc, great penetration, perfectly repeatable digital settings, and excellent features (including a tack weld timer), it makes my welds look like they were done by an experienced professional.

I am not a professional welder, but this machine gives me a huge advantage and makes it easy to produce professional results. It’s like I’m cheating somehow. The top quality and versatility of this machine makes it the best deal in light weight multi-process welders on the market today, and the fact that it is dual voltage is just icing on the cake.

I love my 520d, plasma Cutter cuts through 5/8s easy, you have to take it slow obviously like all plasma cutters. I love tig part, I’m welding up to 1/2, my only complaints is you can’t adjust the amps as your welding even with the petal and the ground and tig cords get really hot after a while.

I do have the older model though. Also make sure you’re running aleast 30amp 220v. I literally can tig for aleast 2 hours before the cords get too hot to handle and by that time I would need to let the metal cool down.

Works well Im a beginner when it comes to TIG welding. But it is exceeding my expectations. Im concerned the argon is leaking internally. I get a rapid pressure loss after turning the tank valve off.

Checked all external connections with soapy spray. Still an exceptional by for a beginner.

For the price, it’s great. Plasma cutting is fast on thin steel and does pretty decent on half inch. Stick is more than fair. New to tig welding so having fun with it and seems great. Cons. The ground wire is a bit short as well as the stick welding wire but you can just get longer ones if need be.

Overall. love the machine.

I bought this welder because it said that it had an amp range between 50 to 210. After not being able to get an arc below 200 amps, I called the rep durostar and he basically told me that it won’t weld unless it’s 200 amps or higher.

So in all actuality it’s not adjustable at all it was burning so hot that it melted through quarter inch steel. And it was a nightmare to return. So unless you want to pay 1400 dollars for what’s pretty much generator that cost 500 keep looking.

I do not think I received the unit I ordered. This seems to be a updated unit. I used it one time in a pinch. It did not weld very smooth are start the electrodes easy. I do not think the unit can automatic know if I will use A/C or D/C.

This unit does not have the switch to change this. The one I saw on the web showed to have a switch. If this unit does not improve I will return it. Thanks. I would put it at two starts.

The Generator runs and works outstanding. I have powered my RV for 7 days (straight) off the generator with no issues. The Welder is still up in the air. The electrode sticks quite a bit and is hard to maintain a good flowing weld.

Can’t beat this machine at this price. Have been wanting a welding machine of my own for years, couldn’t see spending $2000 on one. I ran across this deal and had to have it. Have welded with this unit at least 10 times and love it.

I wish it had a scale on the output adjustment, but once you weld with a few times it becomes clear where you need to be for what. Would recommend to anyone.

Look nothing like picture. Cutting of shank is not even close to the cut on original or useable keys. Don’t fit or work in generator at all.

Good little generator/ welder for the price. High altitude kit was a pain to install but I am happy thus far. Farm/ranch use and it has saved me bringing everything to the shop to repair.

Greetings. Im a union steamfitter UA21 certified welder. I weld on top of hospitals, in ditches, out in open fields, 23rd floor no walls, rain, sleet, sun, hail, snow, roswell park cancer institute, millers, and lincolns.

I can tell you the carbureted auto choke millers and the EFI MILLERS have left me stranded on shutdowns in the middle if the night more than i can count on 1 hand. The old millers with the onan horizontally opposed egines r reliable but look like hell from their sge in construction.

But never 1 time has a Lincoln Electric welder failed me. NEVER. Now i weld on a commercial basis passing XRay welds. I do like miller electric welders better than the Lincoln invertec welders i use at work.

I bought a hi frequency miller tig rig because i am not loyal to 1 brand but if u want a gas drive fet the Lincoln Electric they r very easy to service also.

Baker’s had the lowest price for the Ranger 250 GXT. This unit was drop shipped so it took much longer than expected to arrive. Communication was good after I initiated my concerns. The delays were directly the result of supply chain issues with the manufacturer.

Unit runs and welds perfectly I couldn’t be happier. I recommend checking availability of stock before making a purchase. Other than that great job Baker’s!.

I have been a Lincoln user for many years. It’s not that the other brands are poor machines, just that the Lincoln brand has never given me a reason to switch brands. Basically, if it’s not broke. The Ranger 250 GXT is another example of a high quality workhorse.

We needed a machine for pipe fencing on our cattle ranch in Montana, and this was the machine we chose. The option to run stick AC/DC or add a mig box was all we really needed, but the excellent 10000 watt generator makes this even more versatile.

I hope it lasts as long as my other Lincoln welders. So far, so good.

Description said MIG,TIG, Stick which is a little misleading because it does not come with a TIG handle ( and it was not shown in the picture) which would have been nice to have a complete package. Have only tried it on the flux core wire and it seems to do a good job even with my limited wire feed welding time.

Otherwise I think it will be just what I was looking for.

Awesome bang for the buck. Works great with solid, clean welds. I love having the ability to move from stick to wire easily. Easy set up and good instructions. Could do just about the same thing my $2500.

I like This Hobart Champion Elite 225 welder although I really wanted the 260 version but for whatever reason, TSC doesn’t carry it. Both units are made by Miller which have the same 23hp Kohler engine and 11,00 watt max generator, so there are very reliable.

I looked at both the Lincoln and the millers. The Hobart is a better value if you can do without a remote key fob and bells and whistles. The Hobart 225 is DC arc only but I mainly wanted to power my mig or tig, plus ac rods will work just fine with this unit.

I already have the Hobart 240 Ironman which is another great Miller piece. TSC has them listed on their site but not available. I would have purchased that from TSC too, if they had it to offer. I like buying from my TSC and do offer a line of Hobart welders in store and the champion Elite online.

There is an added freight charge for ship to store but no worth than paying for a lift gate and dolly delivery from a freight company, Plus TSC will load you up with a forklift. Way to Go TSC!.

It’s really a stripped down Miller Bobcat 225 with the same engine/generator minus the AC, TIG and wire welding capabilities. DC only which is all a rancher like me needs for welding up pipe fence, equipment repairs, building loafing sheds, etc.

Starts right away and runs well. When on the Idle/Run setting it revs up quickly when striking your arc and settles down about 5 seconds later to save fuel. After using it for a few months now I’ve found Amp settings seem pretty accurate.

Generator has enough power to run our whole house (except the deep well pump). Everything is easy to get to with large doors on both long sides. Pretty quiet too. So far I really like it for more than $2,000 less than the Bobcat.

Item arrived free of defects, damage or anything needing to be tightened, etc. Started up on the first try. Runs smooth and easy to operate. The footprint is a perfect size for the small trailer we are mounting it on.

Bought this in tandem with the Hobart floor mig. Have not used this as a welder yet but the output power setup if great for our projects.

I don’t know what you want out of a welder like this, but I am in the electric gate & wrought iron business. My welders must be reliable & strong enough to do the job every day or I don’t have any use for them.

Mine is mounted in the bed of my truck and I have enough welding leads to get out 150′ from the truck to arc weld and I never have a problem. These Miller Blue Star units are always easy to start (plus the convenience of electric start), the hold enough fuel to run them all day on the job.

I arc weld with mine, I also run my power tools which can be a hand drill, or a 13 amp chop saw, a large miter saw, a 60 lb jackhammer, core drill, hammer drills, and I can also run my 180 amp mig welder.

Sometimes I’ll have multiple people plugged into the generator, and as long as we don’t get ridiculous it works great. It also has both run or run/idle settings, so you can run it full bore constantly or let it drop down to an idle when nothing is active.

As far as reliability, I have a couple of these same welders that are on the job 8-10 years and the still fire up and work everyday. Can’t say enough good things about them.

Due to the types of mobile jobs I perform from time to time, I needed to invest into a welder generator that would fit the parameters. Based on the specs versus what capacity I operate at, I purchased the Miller Blue Star 185.

From the very first time I fired it up to using it on a few jobs since, I have been very pleased with it. The machine itself starts with no problem, and the welding function in terms of firing up rods is awesome.

Great investment that fits my needs!!.

This welder is a good value. It is very versatile. I needed a portable welder that was engine driven and this one fits the bill nicely. Has a large fuel tank for long run times. It is a bit heavy but with the optional roller kit , it is fairly easy to move around.

I wish it returned to idle automatically after I stop welding however. You have to manually switch it to idle. All on balance, its a great value. I recommend it even if youre just a hobbyist working on cars.

Bought the machine in August 2021. We had an 8 hour power outage in December. The house was getting real cold and i ran an extension cord thru the window. I started machine and started pellet stove. I ran another to the tv and see if they had any information about power outage.

House was starting to warm up and the power came back on. As far as i’m concerned it payed for it self that day. Welds awesome and love welder 50 amp plug on it.

I have been welding professionally for over a decade, and have run many different brands and models of welders, and this one is right up there with my favorites. It welds beautifully. The generator puts out good power, and I can’t complain.

It’s pretty unbelievable, the price difference between this and similar machines, when this has the same quality.

As far as a Gen welder goes this miller bobcat is ideal for pro comp starts and is flexible for expansion as for the 3 phase power unit allows for expansion later on in company development like adding a arc stabilizer high freq unit for though aluminum, brass, and copper pump body’s instead of brazing with an old oxy acetylene torch head with this unit u relieve the need for such gasses for cutting and brazing.

The welder works great and the service from welding supplies from IOC was even better! Fast shipping, and great price!

Purchased this machine for working in the field. Our shop doesn’t work at many places that don’t already have power but occasionally it happens. Since it wouldn’t be used very often we decided to look for the least expensive American made welder/generator and this fit the bill.

After receiving we put the running gear together, checked the oil and filled it up. Started on the 3rd pull with the choke and turned the choke off just about right away. First impression was that it was a little louder than I thought it would be, hard to have a conversation near it.

Took it to a job the first time that had 110v power but it was kind of far away and we didn’t have access if a breaker was blown. Ran the grinders and drills great but when we tried a 110v MIG it was very disappointing, seemed very under powered.

Ended up running a long extension cord and we were able to finish the welding. After getting the generator back to shop we realized the amperage nob might not have been maxed out so we tried it with a 220v welder and the 110v welder and same result, way under powered even with the amps maxed.

About a week later we decided to return the machine but would try one last time with the MIGs using the 220v and 110 outlets and they worked great! Have no idea why but then we decided to keep it. Took it to the next job and worked great, for about 30 minutes, then started acting like it was under powered again.

Finally returned the machine and now looking at the Champion Elite 260. May never had tried out the 145 if Tractor Supply but for the picture on their website showing the 145 being used with a MIG. Did try stick welding off the lugs and was very impressed, ran nice and hot and was easier to start the arc than any of our inverter welders.

Purchase this for small household projects such as building fences, metal buildings, light commercial/agricultural welding. I have owned several miller bobcat 250’s and at first was hesitant of how this thing would weld.

I must say for up to half inch steel I can weld up to 5/16 low/high rod, get good penetration and a consistent weld with no issue. That is the heaviest steel I would recommend trying to weld with this machine.

I was able to do this consistently with a setting at 135 amp and had zero issues with duty cycle for common on off welding. Dialed down I had no issues welding 14 gauge Perlin with a 3/16 +p rod @ 40 amps.

No I would not recommend purchasing this machine if you make your living welding eight hours a day, but for the average weekend hobbyist it works perfect and can handle 99% of the jobs most people encounter.

The only reason for four stars Is this machine does not have an idle down feature under no load. Once you crank it up it runs at full throttle even with no load. I definitely find myself shutting it off to reduce noise when I’m not actually burning a rod.

I Imagine if left running fuel consumption could be quite high.

I had mine for almost 3 1/2 years. It worked great, started easily, powered grinders, drills, saws, air compressors, welded 2 3/8 and 2 7/8 pipe, angle iron, channel iron, with no problem. We have no power at the ranch, so was indispensable.

Either a neighbor (to use the term loosely) or someone driving past saw me using it, and decided they needed it, my gloves and sleeves. I’ll get another one as soon as I save the money.

Alright. I’m still learning how to weld. I’m not qualified to leave a review; however, I have friends that have way more welding training and skill levels than I do! The comments that I get are. Wow! Smooth Arc! and while using stick 6011 and 7018 rods for our projects.

They are also very impressed with the powering up and down duty cycles. I’m sure the machine is holding its amp settings just like it was designed to do! Buy it! You will like it!.

Welds like a dream! Can run grinder and metalcutoff saw at low idle and charge batteries. Very pleased with the purchase. One thing does concern me but probably a non-issue, after running the unit for a pretty good while the panels seemed excessively hot I guess time will tell on the impact of the 100* days here in Texas.

Cybeweld and the ladies and gents that run the lines thank-you for being super helpful and making this purchase a breeze. Unit arrived with a small dent and cyberweld took care of me!.

Received new machine, opened crating as instructed to insure it arrived in great condition, perfect, not a scratch. Also got a cover, new helmet and leads. Helmet and cover, perfect. Opened box with leads and began to attach them to machine when I noticed about ten feet from the machine conection on the work side there is an area about six inches long that the insulation has been rubbed off the cable.

It looks as if the cable was dragged or something. The cable looks brand new other than that, the ends are perfect and the box had no damage, so I’m left to believe this happened before the item was packaged.

I needed to get the machine running and didn’t have time for replacement, so I just taped it up like it was an old cable. Works fine, just disappointing to get something that is brand new and it is damaged.

Thats my only complaint. Machine works great.
