20 Best Welders For Beginners (2022 Updated)

Got this machine to finish a fence using flux core wire with no gas. The machine can use gas too. We needed to use a 100ft extension cord and the machine had no issues whatsoever. Plugs into any common three prong outlet.

Its compact and easy to use. Again this is a bargain for beginners to intermiedate welders.

So far so good. For the money it is an awesome little welder. I have only used the flux core mig function so far but I will be trying stick welding soon. I just wish it included a tig torch but at this price point you can’t complain.

I have the matching 20p plasma cutter which i also like. Forney makes a great product.

This is a great welder, has everything my boyfriend was looking for and then some-this was his first welder and he loves it! Had everything set up within days of receiving it for his birthday, including some extra wiring in our garage, etc.

A great hobby/repair welder!.

I have always had a 220v welder and considered 100v welders marginal at best. I live on a horse ranch and occasionally have the need for a remote welding job. I took a chance on this machine on sale and I must say, it blew me away.

Running some old Lincoln. 035 wire it did a VERY acceptable job at medium power. Lincoln wire is not the best so I ordered some. 030 ENE INEFIL wire (from Italy -the best you can buy) and that should vastly improve the quality of the weld.

Flux welders are not for super fine detail welds. I call the result, “FARM WELDING” and the result is solid, if not pretty. If you take the time to get the weld slag cleaned up with a brush, it’s respectable.

With a 90-day warranty, I am trying to “burn” this welder in, using it every day, mostly using the upper range of the power. On a piece of 1/8″ square scrap, I burned a hole right through the metal on HIGH.

And that was on a 15-foot HD extension cord. I kept loading the machine up in the upper power range and when I got done, the square stock was mostly gone. That is why I say, this is no toy welder. It will do a great job and, with quality wire, is a great starter welder.

I plan to use this for remote work, off my generator, if need be. Only negatives so far is the wire feed was glitchy yesterday but the drive wheel never stopped working on request. The tensioner is cranked down as tight as possible.

I am going to try some welding wire lube in the feed hose to take some of the drag off the drive system. The weld hose is only 6 foot long (to keep the power up) so some lube should solve the issue. The other thing is the whole top of the case opens for access to the wire and tensioner so that negates a top handle but, the strap works fine for hauling it around.

It’s a flea-weight welder so toting it around is easy. VERY HAPPY SO FAR. If it survives 90-days of higher power welding, this should be a real keeper for mobile applications.

6/2022. Bought this flux core welder to upgrade from a smaller/lower amp flux core. This so far, has been a really nice purchase. Is a lot more powerful than the other 80 amp unit that it replaced. I like the infinite amperage and wire speed controls.

The unit is very lightweight, but don’t let it fool you. Be aware that while you do get an extra contact tip or 2, you DO NOT get any flux core wire in the box, so buy some when you purchase it or you won’t be doing any welding when you get home.

You don’t get a slag hammer or wire brush either, like in some of the other units. Comes with pretty easy to understand/follow instructions. There are endless numbers of reviews and videos about this welder on the internet and vast majority are plus’s.

Flux core welding is just a very easy and pretty inexpensive way to get into DIY/Handyman repairs and projects and this unit, so far, really bears that out. JUST KNOW. it is not a big commercial type welder for Big/heavy duty projects or repairs.

It CAN do a tremendous amount of things if you just use it correctly and understand it’s limits. I used my older unit regularly and so far, with this new welder, I’ve repaired my home-made welding cart, fixed some broken tomato plant cages, added some hooks to my wife’s bird feeder shepherds hooks, and repaired a loose wheel on my generator cart.

I’m giving it 4 stars for now, but if it lasts a year without issues, I would definitely give it 5 stars. I would still recommend it as a great buy today.

This welder is awesome !!!!!. I started welding when i was 12 years old using a stick welder. I have used other type welders in my career. Several years ago i purchased the Chicago Electric 90 amp wire welder but I never could get it to feed reliably so I sold it to someone else and bought this welder.

I was building shelves out of half channel struts and had to weld some mounting plates on the struts. The welds I did looked pretty and smooth with very little slag sticking around the weld area. i had my wife try some horizontal welds ( vertical welds are more difficult) This was only her second time attempting to weld and even HER welds looked pretty good.

The wire feed speed adjustment makes keeping an arc very easy. The power adjustment wont let you burn thru the material you are welding on. I did not stop until i was finished and the welder just kept on welding.

I did trip the breaker once but i believe it was due to having a big fan on the same circuit. We now have some pretty heavy shelving in the Garage and i have a very portable welder for those little jobs you almost hate to break out a welder to do.

Very Satisfactory welder and not necessararily just a “beginner” welder. This welder has very much impressed me.

I purchased this welder because it can be run with my generator, making it very portable for quick fixes around the farm if needed. I have only been practicing with it as I am not a welder, but so far I have been impressed with the power and ease of use.

I have tested it on both household current and generator, using 6013 and 7018 rods in both 3/32 and 1/8 diameters without issues. I am also using a 25ft long 10 gauge extension cord. I am mostly using 3/32 diameter rods since 1/8 is the maximum diameter.

It does run the 1/8 inch rods, but I just don’t want to push the machine to the max and wear it out. My practicing has been on mild steel, 16 gauge up to quarter inch. I have done butt/lap/T joints. Keeping the metal clean via wire brush, and making sure the ground clamp has good contact is important, especially with the 7018 rods.

From what I can tell, penetration is decent when the metal is clean and well grounded. With both rods I am seeing very smooth arc, and the rest is up to me. I would certainly recommend this welder for beginners such as myself who want to learn, do small repairs, and small DIY projects.

I had a small welding job to complete and hadn’t welded in 30+ years! I was skeptical about plugging this bad boy into my garage outlet and welding. I was able to weld up two trailer ramps with 6011 3/32 rods with zero issue! I am going to buy various rods and know it has some limitations but don’t think you will be disappointed! Need a 20amp breaker or greater never popped a breaker by the way! There are YouTube videos to watch as well and they are using 1/8 7014 electrodes.

I had to weld on my snow plow frame an old Snow way with 5/16 angle for the lift hyd. cyl. I used 3/16 6013 rod and had the 100 ST connected to a 100′ 10 gauge extention cord on a 20 amp circuit from my garage.

I was not expecting much but wow this little inverter welder burned strong and steady. Laid 1/4″ beads for 6″ without a problem. I was putting the job off because I didn’t want disappointment but I was happy, and thankful it performed better then I read in some reviews.

Rod choice is key for sure. Am happy.

I really like this welder. After borrowing a friends Ironton 125, I decided that I should have my own. I wanted a welder with a DC inverter for smoother arc and the ability to power with a generator.

I considered the Titanium 125 from HF, but chose the Forney 140 FC-i for several reasons. 1. It can handle a 10lb spool. 2. The leads are 8ft long. 2ft longer than most in this class of welder. I have appreciated the extra length several times.

3. Build quality looks a little better. The wire feed looks similar on all of these welders, but the Forney has better cables and gun. 4. Forney has customer support in the US. Forney says that this welder only works with 0.

030 wire. That is what i use, but you could run 0. 035. The drive roller has grooves for both wire sizes, so you would just need to get a 0. 035 contact tip. I have had great luck with Lincoln NR-211 MP and Hobart Fabshield 21b.

The Lincoln has less spatter that is easier to clean up, but the Hobart has a little bit smoother welds. Both are fine. The edge goes to Hobart, because it come in 2 lb spools.

Current efficient! Running on a weak 15 amp circuit (trips easily) for thin metal welding on 22ga. & 16 ga. sheet metal. This is a FCAW welder, NOT Mig. (Flux Core Arc Welder) No Gas ! There are pro’s and cons for each.

If I welded a lot, I would opt for one that does both. I am experienced in stick welding heavy machinery (since the late 60’s). Got this model to try @ wire feed and thin gauge. trying to break the old habit of sinking the stick while i weld.

I had borrowed a job smart model 1st. What I prefer on this model. Infinite wire feed & current – verses a High, Low switch for current. It does make a difference for me on light gauge metal for quality of bead, once you dial it in.

The Job Smart would trip my weak breaker (to be replaced) easily on light gauge runs (4″-6″) for practice – where this model does not. (Why the builder of this house only put a 15 amp circuit to the garage?) On heavier gauge I exercise my generator.

(which is good for the generator as well) Me, thicker the metal & higher current = easier the weld. Stacked dimes bead. Note – I hadn’t welded in 20 years.

Good welder For the price, takes a little time to get use to it. From my lincoln 100pak welder. Only thing that could be better is a faster wire feed speed,but welds great once you get use to it and fins the right setting.

Used it for sheet metal (auto body repair) and frame repair. It dose perform pretty close to my old lincoln.

A really good looking machine and great value. I ended up returning this but it shouldn’t stop you. I got it for a song. and I dont sing that well. If you know the song “Buck and a quarter” then you understand.

Anyhow I didnt see that it couldnt take. 035 (1. 0mm) flux core wire. I already had 2 spools of. 035. gearing up. Also I thought it was a 220v welder. I got another cheaper welder 110/220v and. 035 wire on A_zon where they had a bunch of 5 star reviews from PAID reviewers! It came all banged up and missing parts with no support.

NOW I HAD RETURN REMORSE for the Vevor. I should’ve just kept the Vevor!!! After seeing the junk that you get for about the same price I realized what I had done. I returned the flashy banged up YELLOW one too! Now I purchased a 200 Amp With 110/220v with gas mig option but paid $50 more than this one.

It doesnt have a TIG like the Vevor. Hopefully this new one will be ok.

Bought this as my old welder was broken, didn’t want to pay loads of money for a new one as I don’t use it every day. I’ve never had a new welder, always been second hand. So decided at this price I would buy one.

Well it arrived quickly. I found it easy to assemble. Only need to feed the wire and connect the torch and leads. Well off I went welding. I was very impressed with it, welded everything I asked it to , flat plate, round bar etc.

Overall a nice compact welder that does what I want it to do. Very happy.

When miller changed the Tips in the mig gun. They totally messed up the performance of the welders. The tips are designed to blow out way faster. And there not universal tips. You have to either buy miller tips.

Or be smart and Tap the collett out with threads that will be universal. I have welded with just about every miller machine made. As far back as the old heavy 350 syncrowaves. The 215 is the worst of all of them.

Only because of the new tips. It hardly runs flux core. Soon as tip gets hot it burns back and frys the tip. Hardwire does fine. Stick does fine. Flux core sucks. Miller has got greedy and low grade in quality over the years.

Thing is. All the welders have done the same thing. Raise price lower quality.

I’m just getting back into welding. Its been about 25 years since I’ve done any welding at all. I got this welder and it is super easy to use and it puts down nice beads. I was using Flux core at 110 and it performed great.

Its worth the money. You get what you pay for. I love my welder. Cyberweld’s fast shipping was great. I got it in 3 days. Thanks to the crew at cyberweld, they are great.

Really nice welder for the money – has a lot of potential. Very lightweight – easy to move around. MIG function is very capable. I was a little hesitant to try the autoset feature, but it’s actually really nice and the settings seem to be spot on.

The power supply seems to be very stable – even at low amperage settings it’s hard to stick a 7018 electrode. Only con I can see is that it can’t run 6010. TIG function seems to be very smooth. The lift arc is good enough for most applications.

The dual gas inlets is a very nice feature so I don’t have to switch my regulators around. Accessories that came with it seem to be of good quality too. As for the dual voltage function, I can’t speak to it’s functionality – I’ve only ran this machine on 220.

Overall, it’s a good machine for the money. I’d recommend it.

So I have had this welder for about a month now, I have burned 22+lbs of wire. I have a lot of complaints about this welder. First off the recommended settings are way off. I have to crank the **** out of the heat and the wire feed just to get a good steady line, and yes, I know my metal thicknesses and all that other good stuff, I also read the manual just in case there was something I was missing (no help there).

Second (And the most frustrating part) is when the trigger is pulled there is no power for about ½ of a second or so, which means the welder starts pushing out wire and gas before you can burn. Creating the problem of not being able to “cut” the wire just by tapping it on the pice/table your working on.

If you know what I mean? Third is start up, I often shut the welder down for set up and moving it about, I’ll get everything set up and flip the power switch on, then I have to wait for the “Ready, Set ,Weld” start up screen to do it’s thing take about 10 seconds, I can’t just start right after the switch is flipped.

And that’s a lot of waisted time. So really to summarize what I don’t like about this welder is the fact that it’s too digitalized, if your an old school welder I wouldn’t recommend it. If your for this new unfixable, throw away, digital attitude world.

I am overall very happy with the 210MP. I weld about 15 hours a week, sometimes more. Except the internal cooling fan blows dirty air directly onto the component side of the display PC board causing it to malfunction.

I removed the display from the welder (I have electronics background) and cleaned the PC board with PC board spray cleaner, set it in a warm place to dry for a day and reinstalled it. It worked! After doing this three times over the period of about a year.

I placed a clean rag in the duct from the rear of the welder to the front where the display is located and a year later it has not malfunctioned again. The display does not generate much heat and I feel it does not need any cooling air from the dirty atmosphere in which the welder operates.

lincoln should address this issue as I am sure I am not the only one that has had this problem. LINCOLN, feel free to contact me.

This is a fantastic multi-process unit, very light weight and runs on either the standard 115 single or 220 single phase supplies. It comes with quick connect cables for either supply choice. Very capable machine and I’ve been very happy with it.

I’ve run primarily with the gas connection and added an extra TIG torch and pedal kit. This is all the machine you’ll need for general FAB and repair of most steels and I’ve had no issues up to 1/2″ even though it’s only rated to 3/8″.

For aluminum I use a 100SG spool gun and a the same 100% ARGON mix as my TIG setup and couldn’t be happier. If you are doing smaller gauge aluminum, less than 1/8″, you should invest in an AC TIG but 1/8″ and larger is great with a spool gun and higher flow rate (25 -30 CFH).

This unit has lots of preset and weld functionality as well as partial and full manual override if the settings. Works great with the internal wire feeder or flip the switch and use the spool gun with the machines wire feed control.

I absolutely LOVE this machine. So much quality built into a small and light weight package. We had a Hobart 190 at our shop and I couldn’t believe the quality and how long it would go without a break so my wife surprised me with this 210 model for Christmas.

We’ve recently upgraded to the Millermatic 252 at work and I literally can’t tell a difference from start to finish! I surely wish this 210 had the highly adjustable digital display and pre/post gas option but at half the price of the Miller I can still dig it.

As long as she puts down the same quality “row of dimes” as the Miller that’s impressive enough for me! It also does Aluminum quite well with the spool gun. Cons: Throw away the useless ground clamp play toy! I took it into the field once for light duty use and I was not impressed at all with using the 120V on a small generator but honestly the generator was too small and was struggling so not really the welders fault.

I’ve never tried the 120V at home and have no plans to. Short leads and the gun is a bit cheap but way better than your average Home Depot Lincoln crap in a box welder.

I have owned the 140 Handler for the past 5 years but decided to upgrade for the greater weld capacity and service intervals. First of all Cyberweld were fantastic sellers with excellent communication and fast shipping.

Could not be more impressed!!!. Now the welder itself really is superior to the 140 (no surprise there) with deeper welds, faster wire feeds and a real pleasure to use. I could not help but notice that the feed roller was heavier duty and worked really well.

The Gas regulator was also noticeably a better quality than the Handler 140. The only negatives I have found is that the gun could have been increased in length (it is still the 10ft) and the worst negative is the cheap and nasty earth clamp which is literally made of tin and a thin earth wire — I replaced mine immediately with a heavy duty copper variety — Hobart really should supply this with a decent earth clamp – penny wise pound foolish.

Overall I would highly recommend this Hobart 210 to a beginner, farmer, DIY user or anybody that wants an all around quality welder that comfortably will weld from 16g to 3/8 steel in a single pass.

Great little welder for around the shop. Runs smooth and has good power for. 035″ wire and 1/4″ to 3/8″ material. Have not tried 1/2″ material yet but it has the capacity for that. Makes nice looking, professional quality welds.

The controls are easy to see and operate with no fluff or gimmicks. The stock gun is comfortable and feels substantial in your hand but is also light weight and maneuverable. The machine has nice quality fit and finish.

Excellent choice for this range of welder.

I bought one of these from home depot as a stop gap. If you are used to a modern miller mig like a 252 or 255 which are the typical consumer migs miller sells. Then you will hate this welder. This thing is not competitive it can only weld very thing steel.

14 gauge and below. I tried to make bracket out of 12 gauge steel with it. The weld just sits on the surface and brakes off. If you are a very beginner and you need to do sheet metal welding and rust repair.

Then this is fine, but it will struggle to do plug welds between two layers of metal.

I bought a lincoln because my dad has had a lincoln 155 for about 18 Years and has never had any problems and has ran numerous 10lbs rolls of wire threw it. I was looking into a harbor freight welder or a eastwood because of the huge price difference but you get what you pay for and a welder is something you’re going to want to last and be consistent.

I’ve welded with this welder only set up for Flux core so far and it is very easy to get set up maybe 5 mins and I was welding this welder is very powerful for a 115v unit and lays very nice beads. Don’t buy a cheapo go with a name brand and you will have no complaints.

I don’t see bad reviews on lincoln but you see a fair share of bad reviews on chicago electric and eastwood. Spend the money and get something that is going to get the job done well and last a long time.

I got the welder on sale for $480 plus a free lincoln welding cart at blains farm and fleet just couldn’t go wrong with that price for the quality and dependability of it.

I’m in Michigan and my pole barn is not heated, so I haven’t used it yet, but I used a friends and loved it, that’s what told me I should get one. Lincoln is quality stuff, and I can’t wait to use it.

Had been thinking about purchasing a little wire welder for years. Finally ordered one from Eastwood. It arrived well packaged in just a few days. Very easy set up. I had not used a wire machine in years but the easy setup and recommended settings had me welding in no time.

Quality seems to be top notch. My first project (welding cart) is complete, number two (side rails on a utility trailer) is 90% done and I’m looking at several other jobs I’ve been putting off for years.

So far I’m well pleased, my only regret is not purchasing this machine years ago….

I gotta tell ya this in my first welder. I know zero about welding other then what I’ve read and learned online but I was tired of waiting on getting my buddy to weld stuff for me. I’ll be using this for mainly sheet metal work.

The chart inside the cover for tuning to specific guage sheet metal is pretty much on the money I practiced for 20 minutes on some scrap sheet metal and I laid down some nice spot welds, stitch welds and made a little flat copper tool out of 1″ copper pipe that I stick on the backside of holes and filled in holes like a pro! I love this little welder can’t beat it fir the money and it seems really well built.

It’s my first welder but if your looking for a great starter mig I’d recommend it to anyone. And Eastwood will stand behind thier stuff.

After months of looking and comparing different brands and models, I purchased the eastwood mig 140. First of all, the welder is exceptionally light. Very easy to move around. The setup was quick and easy and took less than 10 minutes.

This thing is smooth. Ive used Lincolns and Hobarts, but this thing for the price, warranty, and features, blows everyone else out of the water. It is smooth, quiet, and very lightweight. Hopefully it will last a long time, because so far I love it.

This welder is excellent. Very well built. Welds MIG, Tig, & stick. I’ve read reviews where people complained about the tig torch and foot pedal not being included. If it had been this unit would have been well over a grand and out of my price range.

This thing works great! The mig gun and stinger are both good quality. If you’re looking for a good welder quit looking. Buy one of these. You’ll love it.

It is a nice welding package and Lincoln is a good brand. I was disappointed however in the power even when using the 230 volt mode. I understand that one can not weld thick materials with this welder but the lack of penetration of relatively thin sheet metal was surprising.

Perhaps I just needed more practice with this welder but I got rid of it and purchased a more powerful model which works better for my applications.

I bought this to begin learning welding on thin sheet metal. This is an excellent machine, easy to use. You set the current and wire feed speed based on the metal gauge. It is spot on, doesn’t burn through and is not to cold.

After a week of owning a new Miller 141; I happily switched back to my 10 year old Hobart 125 Handler. I was a welder by trade for many years and now I restore classic cars as a hobby. I have welded miles of mig wire installing floor boards, body panels, inner panels, and repairing sheet metal.

I started a new project, and decided to buy a nice welder that offers infinite adjustment for welding 22-24 gauge metal. I chose Miller because of past experience welding with a Miller mig, brand reputation, and positive reviews.

I was expecting great performance. I am very disappointed with the performance of the 141 when tack/plug welding and stitch welding of 22 gauge automotive sheet metal. The welding surfaces that I am welding are clean of rust or paint.

When I pull the trigger the mig wire starts out slowly and balls up, and does not fully penetrate. My setup is. 024 wire, 75% argon, 25% CO2. I have tried the auto set feature for 24 and 22 gauge/. 024 wire, and manual settings.

I spoke with Miller Tech support and they described the smooth start feature as ramping up the wire speed for 3 seconds after pulling the trigger. I believe this is causing my issues. Miller tech support said there was no way to disable this feature.

Even when I hold the trigger for longer than 3 seconds the wire is balling up and dripping. I have tried the manual setting without much better results. I have attempted welding with the voltage set at 1, 2 and 2.

5 and the wire speed set from 40 to 50. The wire either balls up or burns through the metal. The person I spoke with at Miller basically told me too bad & and that the welder is working as designed. Cyberweld told me that since I used the welder it could not be returned for a refund.

The advertised application mentions auto/body I am not able to get smooth plug or stitch welds on automotive metal. Holding the trigger for 3 seconds to get consistent wire speed will warp the metal.

At least I still have my Hobart to weld with, while my nice looking Blue Miller 141 is collecting dust in the corner of my garage.

I use this welder on my farm and shop for all sorts of things. The quick change drive wheel is a great feature. Portability cant be beat, 120 volt receptacles are nearly everywhere. Ability to use flux core wire outside in windy conditions that would blow shielding gas away giving poor welds with lots of porosity or working in areas that are difficult to wheel in a cylinder is a big deal to me.

This welder is certainly powerful enough to run. 030″ wire as it is to use. 024″. The automatic feed and gauge settings are a handy improvement over the old 140. My 10 year old son took to it like a duck to water.

The 141 is a top of the line 110 volt welder. I have used 3 other 110 welders and the miller is by far the best. The Auto set feature takes all the guess work out of welding different thickness metals and I found it to be spot on for the metals I welded.

I like how this welder leaves a clean descript bead. The arch is steady along with the wire feed. I am a pretty bad welder but I got the best welds I’ve ever made with a wire feed within the first minute of use.

I would definitely recommend this product. I have welded with the 100 dollar chicago electric welder, and its beyond me how they get a 4. 5 star. The welds they make have a ton of large spatter, the wire speed is inconsistent, and the beads are thin and cold.

It is a whole different ball game with this welder though. Against this welder, the chicago would get less than one star. If you aren’t a firm believer in getting what you pay for, then become one now because this welder is wonderful!.

Purchased this unit to Weld Aluminum. This unit is not capable of feeding aluminum wire small or large diameter. Also, the spool feed gun will not connect with this unit (140).

I have been welding aluminum since I bought it last month. I had problems feeding 4043 wire but it works great with 5356 wire. Here is some info on different wire you can use on this welder. When should I use 4043 and when should I use 5356? 4043 is designed for welding 6xxx series aluminum alloys.

It may also be used to weld 3xxx series alloys or 2xxx alloys. 4043 has a lower melting point and more fluidity than the 5xxx series filler alloys, and is preferred by most welders because it “wets and flows better” and it’s less sensitive to weld cracking with the 6xxx series base alloys.

4043 can also be used for welding castings. 4043 also makes brighter looking MIG welds with less smut because it doesn’t contain magnesium. 4043 gives more weld penetration than 5356, but produces welds with less ductility than those made using 5356.

However, 4043 is not well suited for welding Al-Mg alloys and should not be used with high Mg content alloys such as 5083, 5086 or 5456 because excessive magnesium-silicide (Mg2Si) can develop in the weld structure to decrease ductility and increase crack sensitivity.

(One exception to this rule is 5052, which has a low magnesium content. ) 5356 wire has become the most commonly used of all aluminum filler alloys because of its good strength and its good feed-ability when used as a MIG electrode wire.

It is designed to weld 5xxx series structural alloys and 6xxx series extrusions, basically anything other than castings, because castings are high in silicon. Its one limitation is that 5356 is not suitable for service temperatures exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius).

The formation of Al2Mg at elevated temperatures at the grain boundaries makes the alloys prone to stress corrosion. For components that will be anodized after welding, 5356 is recommended over 4043, which turns jet black when anodized.

Purchased this welder because I sent my Lincoln MP210 back. Who in the heck wants to rip their brand new welder apart to install the tig module? Even WORSE, you have to leave the side door open the entire time you’re tig welding AND there’s no option for dual gas features so yeah, constantly swapping that too.

This ESAB melts 6010 rods as good or better than my Lincoln Generator. It tig welds AMAZING, no switching gas bottles, no leaving your access door open, no ripping your new welder apart. The Mig aspect of it is extremely smooth and I’ve never owned a welder that you can literally change the induction on the fly while you’re Mig welding but WOW.

Also, do yourself a favor and GET the foot pedal.

The machine itself exceeds all expectations in (almost)every way. Mine was manufactured and shipped from ESAB to IOC with a defective O-ring on the mig gun hose. It took me a while to find it, after checking every connection, tank, solenoid, hose and gun three times each.

IOC did all they could to help me(Vince was great), but I understand it was a mfg/warranty issue right out of the box. A little better QC job on ESAB’s part should’ve found it before it went in the box.

As for the welder itself, phenomenal!! It’s everything they advertise, and everything you’ve seen described by all the welders, fab guys and car shows on TV. I’ve owned quite a few Lincoln and Miller units, new and old, but none top the ESAB.

Don’t really feel like it’s fair for me to rate it. I just started welding and this is the first welder I’ve ever owned, but it DID come HIGHLY recommended by several friends who are welders by profession, and I feel like it’s very well constructed and so far it does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

So far I love it.

I would recommend this Lincoln welder to anyone. These welders last forever and are easy to operate. I use it for farm repairs and art metal sculptures.

Great, great welder. Very cheap, price-wise, compared to 220v MIGs and can do mostly everything. Bulletproof. If you’re thinking about getting a cheap 120v MIG unit and have the convenience/proximity of 220v, skip it and buy this instead.

You’ll save money and your welds will most likely be structurally better. Only thing against it is that it’s only AC but you can have it modified by a qualified person to be DC capable.

I am a welder by trade as a mechanic where I work. I bought this unit and used it in my shop where I make custom metal work on my days off. Here is my honest opinion of the Lincoln. For $325 it is a good deal, but for heavy welding or for long periods of welding time it will overheat and you will be waiting for it to cool down.

The flux core is decent to weld with, I did most of my welding with gas and it was clean, could be better penetration but you have to remember it is only a 110 welder so it is only going to do so much.

The regulator does not come with a gauge so you do not know how much is left in your bottle or how much is coming out, I ended up buying one with a gauge on another website. If you are doing small jobs like lawnmowers, 1/16″ and 1/8″ metal it will work, but after a while you will figure out what it actually can do.

I ended up selling it and buying a Miller 211. The shield that comes with it is more like a toy in my opinion and the plastic used on the tension wheel to hold down the wire is cheap. But I will say, it never broke down for the year I used it.

Awesome! So, I’m a cabinet maker. A buddy of mine is a certified structural welder, great welder, owns a huge Miller. He found it shameful that I don’t know how to weld. He said, “its great to be able to fix stuff around the house”.

For the money he said this is a great welder, it’s all about the electronics. Then he said, “could you stop by latter and fix one of my cabinet doors? Lmao I enclosed some pics. It’s a piece of 1/4” plate from Home Depot.

I sepperated the pieces a 1/32″, and beveled the edge for better penetration. I flap sanded with a grinder and cleaned the steel with acetone. I also put on a 100% solid copper ground clamp. Im new at this so the weld is kinda ugly.

It’s ok. I then put the piece on an anvil and beat the living sh__ out of it with a 12lb sledge. I’ll be keeping this welder. 🙂 hope this helps.

Haven’t mastered the machine with nice beads yet but in time as I weld more feel it will happen. Had a couple adjustments which was able to figure out and really like this welder for the price. I am sure the more I spend the better the welder would be but this one will do what I need to get done.

small around the house and body work type jobs. Did have the trigger stick which feed the wire out non stop and had to take the gun apart but it fixed itself it seems and works fine at this point. Very happy with the product at this time.

Im a beginner welder and found a review of these low cost stick welders on YouTube (Chuckee2009 was the YouTube channel). This welder works great and penetrates. I use Lincoln 7018 1/8th electrodes on 1/4 metal and have had great success.

Ive attached some photos of the welds. This is a 1/4 plate attached to an 1/8 crossmember. Mind you I just started stick welding when I got this 2 months ago so the dimes arent perfect but theyre getting there.

If youre looking for a cheap stick welder I highly recommend this one!.

Yes it welds but don’t expect it to do more than its capable of, this is a 110v unit so you’ll never actually get the 140 amps it claims to be, highly doubt it’ll burn 1/8 rods, or at least not effectively, although haven’t tried because its not meant to, stick with 3/32 rod or smaller and you’ll be fine, I bought solely for the purpose of welding gates in a hog barn where only 110v is available, don’t expect perfect welds or strikes but it will weld decent, not great, decent.

Given the cost, portability, and convenience its not bad. The leads, stinger and ground are cheap, the dial isn’t accurate, circuit boards are not coated for moisture/dust protection, bottom line, yes corners were cut and components are generic but what do you expect given the cost.

This cheap little welder Punches well above its weight class. I am very pleased with its performance.

I bought this welder in October 2021 but didn’t get to use it until March 2022. I inherited my grandfather’s Rototiller that needed the belt guard fixed. I tried the flux core wire first and found it hard to get the settings that would allow me to weld.

I switched to solid wire with 25% Co2/ 75 % Argon gas. The welding worked much better and I was able to dial in the feed speed I needed to weld correctly. I haven’t welded since I learned how to in college over 40 years ago.

Once I got the wire feed speed correct I was welding great with no splatter and no warped parts either. Now that I have some experience with it I’m going to try the flux core again. I’m sure the problem I had was the wire feed speed set too high for the steel thickness I was welding.

For the money I think this is a great welder. It’s light making it portable and easy to set up and use if you follow the instructions. When I purchased the welding gas I also purchased a small tub of Weldcote Metals Nosil Gel that you dip the welding tip into before welding.

It makes keeping the welding tip clean and free of slag. The slag build up happens pretty quickly and will fowl the weld tip.

I have been trying to get a good weld from an old MIG welder that was given to me 10 years ago, but my welds never got any better. I’ve watched nearly all the YouTube videos on the subject and read books but I couldn’t even make a tack weld that didn’t need to be ground down to make it look presentable.

I decided that the problem may lay with the machine I was using, so I went out on a limb and bought the Titanium MIG 140, and I’m glad I did. The setup is easy (I am using flux core for now) and the settings listed inside the cover are close enough for me to instantly make welds that both look good and are strong enough that I cannot break them.

Out of my first dozen coupon welds only 2 were not pretty (my fault) – but the rest only needed to be wire-brushed and not ground down! I no longer just try to make things “stick” because I am confident I can weld them now.
