13 Best Welding Ground Clamp (2022 Updated)

So much better than the Ground Clamp that came with either my Miller or Lincoln welders. Does not get hot like the OEM units did. The only negative aspect–& it is relatively minor–is the circular ring that is supposed to support the cable.

It is usable; however, rather difficult to squeeze into a nice round shape that secures the cable. I really am pleased with this ground clamp, and plan to acquire another for my other welder. Highly Recommended!!!!!!.

Bought Titanium 125 and the clamp is ok, but everything I read said to upgrade for better results. (That way I can’t blame the equipment as I practice). The $7. 99 clamp is an upgrade to the original but the wire just floats in the handle AND the crimped ring will not fit on the bolt, so you have to go to another store to buy the crimp ring, and cut the wire etc.

This one is $14. 99, is much better than both AND all you have to do is insert bare wire and tighten nut. Now when I feel like making the trip to the big box store for a larger/longer ground wire, I’ll only need one crimped ring.

I wish HF sold a upgrade wire/clamp, but until then, this is a good solution and you’ll only have to buy it once. BTW, this is exactly like the one on Amazon for $29. 99 with hundreds of 5 star reviews.

Almost any welder that you buy today is going to come with a minimum weight/capacity ground clamp. Fortunately Harbor Freight sells this one at their regular low price & it is a serious heavy-duty replacement for the light-weight OEM clamp.

My welder came with the clamp lead terminated in a female screw fitting, but it was super easy to snip that off & bare a half inch of cable to insert into the lead terminal on this clamp. The provided cord hold-down clamp can be tightened around the lead to relieve stress on the screw-down terminal & prevent lead pull-out even under a severe snatch.

A great upgrade for even high load welders.

Jaws did not mesh up very well. The rivet was loose. I had to run a file between the jaws to get them to touch all the way across. Bucked the rivet over so the jaws didn’t move from side to side. Doesn’t look like copper.

Looks like plain old brass. Welded some very heavy metal yesterday and the clamp worked very well. 250 amps DC and no arcing.

I like this better than the clamp my welder came with. This is more stream lined and is thus easier to grab onto smaller object. The clamp power is good for hanging on tight to your work. Tip: I was able to unbolt the lead from my old clamp which used a large flat wire connector with hole in it for the bolt.

By bending (rounding) this somewhat in the vise it was able to slip it right into the hole in this new clamp. So no cutting needed and it has a great connection that won’t pull out if it gets tugged on.

I use these ground clamps on my MIG, TIG & plasma cutter. Probably overkill, but I don’t have ground problems. These clamps are awesome. What else can you say.

Replaced the cheap stamped clamp on my Hobart 140. So glad I did but wish I had done it earlier for my 1st big project. Magnet is plenty strong and the ground made my machine run like it should from the factory.

Put down the best welds with much less effort. Most complaints come from – well how do I attach this to my machine? Simple – I bought a Forney 60101 cable lug ($3 ea). Went right onto the magnet. Flattened the part where the cable went into and drilled a hole the size of the bolt for the Hobart clamp.

I already had a lug on that end from trying to attach brass clamps but didnt work so well. I want to be able to disconnect quickly if needed so I attached the small lug to the large one. So simple and it took 5 minutes.

Taped up just to clean it up. So impressed with how my machine runs now.

There are a few rules when using it. You can’t work close to it and overheat it (something like 172 degrees F max), or it will kill the magnet. You need to carry a cordless grinder to make sure you have bare metal all the time, and it can’t be used over 50 percent duty cycle.

I had a job that I couldn’t use a standard clamp all the time on large square tubing and this thing was the ticket to success. Just had to grind off the paint and then had nice solid grounds all the time and my welds improved because of it.

It sort of forces you to have a good ground instead of just trying to scratch through the paint with your clamp and roll. Metal debris just falls right off when you turn the knob and release the magnet.

I would still carry your regular clamp to the job in case you need to weld right next to it.

This ground is awesome! Lately I have been building alot of square tube closed end projects with no where to attach a ground clamp. Not working off a welding table means Id have to attach a pair locking pliers to the frame somewhere and put my ground clamp on that way.

This was taking FOREVER! Using this magnetic ground clamp is soooo much faster. It holds super strong and I get a good ground all the time, plus I dont get a ton of metal shavings stuck to it like the cheaper clamps.

I bolter a vehicle groung strap to the lug so I could use my standard ground clamp and swich back and forth as needed.

Rivet was so tight it could only be opened in a vice, then the spring couldn’t close it. Even after drilling to loosen it this has “Chinese quality” written all over it. I won’t be using it.

This is my third tweco copper ground clamp, i have my 3 welding machines with it and man!! It turns my machines into monsters im planning to give my cheap plasma cutter the big twueco copper upgrade aswell, definitely recomending it.

I purchased this clamp and had to return it for a new one. The lug bolt threads on the one I got were pretty much stripped out. Even on the new one it does seem that the lug bolt threads could easily strip out, so be careful when tightening it down.

Have this on my miller trailblazer its Awesomesauce for a welder. Many many applications it difficult to get a ground I have this on a quick disconnect so it can be switched from a clamp to a magnet.

Anyway it makes life easier and faster if you rig it right.

It has been a great ground. I have used it extensively welding with dual shield FCAW-S. It stay cool and gets a little warm under heavy use

What a great ground magnet, I use this quite often now that I have it. Comes in very handy, quick and clean. I liked them so much I even bought a friend one.

So much faster than tacking lugs onto stuff to clamp to. Just grind down some spots where your going to need to ground to, and that’s it! I can jump around from area to area at my leisure now. Working in confined spaces and upside down is always going to be frustrating, but this takes one obstacle out of the struggle.

I’ve also had no problems clamping to the bolt instead of fastening the work cable to it with a terminal. Being able to switch the magnet off is great for keeping it clean.

I didnt want to drill a hole in my welding table to attach a wire lug. And I dont always want to rely on workpiece-to-table contact for the welding current circuit. The Magswitch 300 Amp Ground Clamp gives me flexibility.

I can attach the Magswitch directly to a flat spot on a large workpiece. Or, I can attach the Magswitch to the welding table top and use workpiece-to-table contact for workpieces that are too small or too odd-shaped to use a spring-clamp.

Good clamp to replace a broken or worn out part. A couple of small issues. The stud that holds the terminal of your ground cable is about 1/8 inch too short, it works but just barely. Second issue is that there is nothing to secure the cable to the clamp handle for strain relief, it does route through the handle which helps but would be better if it had tabs that bent down over the cable.

Other than those two things, seems like a well made piece that should hold securely.

I bought this 300 amp ground clamp after I had originally bought the 400 amp clamp. To me it seems like this 300 amp clamp has a better contact area and grip than the more expensive one. it also accepts a round spade terminal.

I did need to drill out the hole on the spade terminal for it to fit. A good upgrade over the ground clamp that came with my HF Titanium MIG 140.

Purchased this to replace the flimsy clamp that comes with the Titanium 125 flux core welder. Please note that the lug on this clamp has a larger diameter than crimp lug on the ground wire. You will need to drill it out a bit to get it to fit.

Or replace it with the correct size. You do you.

I am a hobby welder so i do not have a steel top bench to ground to. I hate the brass clamps (at 4 times the cost) because the angle that they clamp is awkward and they are very heavy, always moving what i am welding.

This clamp is the best for the money. It could be made of a little heavier material, but i removed a $25 small brass clamp to put this clamp on and will not go back to brass. It is very easy to use with a welding glove on and opens very wide for tubing.

The clamping force is close to 28 lbs. The copper lugs are 11 gauge copper quite substantial. The clamp is made from 19 gauge plated steel. The attachment lug bolt is copper with copper nuts. The only thing I plan to do is soldier the lugs to the braid as they are only clamped in.

If I soldier them dirt cannot get between the lug and braid.

Similar welding ground clamps cost more than double the price of this one at local welding suppliers and hardware stores. Plus, this one has a heavy braided copper strap. This is an excellent value and great replacement for the cheap battery-jumper-cable clamps that come with light-weight welders and plasma cutters.

Would be nice if it included a lug.

Hooked up a 10 ft. heavy duty cable to it and it saves me a lot of grief trying to position a ground cable to my work. Prefer this 600 amp to the lighter duty 300 amp. Get it-you need it.

This is a good product I purchased the 300 amp one previously but it got way to hot and lost its magnetic holding ability this one is doing good .my advice. Buy bigger then you think youu need

The clamp itself looks similar to the picture in the listing, but does not come with a bronze or copper hardware as shown, what you get is stainless. Stainless is not as good as copper or bronze for grounding.

Will it work. Yes. But it’s just a cheaper way to put it together. If you’re looking for a full bronze grounding clamp, this is “not” the one to get!.

Grounding thousands of dollars in solar equipment with these. Good shape for holding wire and solid product that works as intended. Stainless bolt that won’t rust.

The 5/8″ diameter ground rod clamp (acorn clamp) worked excellently to attach a ground wire to the 5’8″ ground rod I had to install for auxiliary grounding needed for a project I was working on. The pricing was competitive and delivery was fast.

I’ve been using a magnet ground connector for past 10 yrs. Finally replaced the clamps on two other welders I use. I should have done it a lot sooner. Ground magnet provides excellent connection and saves me a lot of time when I have to move workpieces.

A good magnetic ground is a must if you weld frequently, and this Tweco ground is one of the best. I utilize these on multiple machines without any headaches. The magnet is strong enough that it can be placed in multiple fashions without worries that it will break loose.

The switch on top provides an easy and quick method to engage/disengage the magnet on the work piece or table.

Replaced the factory ground from my Miller 252 with this. Great product, makes setting up so much easier.
