20 Best Welding Respirator Mask (2022 Updated)

This half mask respirator is all you need for general home repair work. The cartridges screw on easily and it’s not bulky to wear. The elastic straps didn’t pull on my long hair and were easy to adjust.

But most importantly, breathing was easy with this mask. I’ve worn respirators that were difficult to breathe in. For the price, you can’t beat this mask.

I looked all over for a mask with a real seal. I finally found it, I’m saving it just in case this virus gets worse. You have to buy the cartridges separately. I found p100 cartridges.

I’ve had a few of these. The m/l works better for me, however even with the odor control cartridges I can smell vapors. I like the compact nature of these, but they are not a professional grade product in my opinion.

If you use them daily the elastic fails in short order and it just seems like there is not enough filtering area. I’ve had better luck with 3M, which in my opinion is a company dedicated to safety products.

I had a sore throat when welding with flux core wire ! needed to resolve the problem , glad it came in the size I needed. It fits under my welding helmet! Other web sites were out of stock! So It came the next day, I am 80 miles away!.

This mask was perfect It fit like a glove And I believe that will do just fine in the event of Absolute annihilation. The quality was insane it had AA hydration spouse or whatever you want to call it attached to it to where you can drink without taking off the mask it is truly the beginners mask for the Apocalypse.

The filters don’t stay on very well and fall off occasionally during typical homeowner work. I bought this for my brother-in-law who came over to help me hang strapping for an addition I’m building on my home.

I have the 3M version and it works EXCELLENTLY, even if I’m not overly-satisfied with the elastic straps. This mask has the same type of straps and is very similar to the 3M mask but the filters constantly fall off.

To be clear, there was no impact or violent movements. The left filter fell out twice and the right filter fell out once. They were absolutely installed correctly (you just insert the attachment of the filter and twist a few degrees for it to “lock” into place, but these have such poor connectors that the filters just work their way out easily and drop, leaving you with a mask that’s useless until the point that you’re breathing so much poison that you realize the filter is missing.

I will be returning it and replacing it with a 3M.

When the filters stay in place, this works great, but they don’t always stay on. That’s pretty distressing when you are crawling in a crawlspace and suddenly are sucking in the air you didn’t want to take in.

If it was fumes, it would be worse. The fit — it’s is easy to put on and seals well. I don’t have a large head and it fits well. It’s adjustable to fit larger and the seal over mouth and nose should not be affected.

The filter ratings are terrific. My ONLY problem is trying to get the filter (only one side consistently comes off) to stay on while keeping it changeable when it needs to be.

I’m not a large man so I first purchased the medium size not knowing how to determine what size I needed. Didn’t fit me at all ( from my nose to my chin )so I returned it and got the large size. It just barely fits properly.

Not comfortable at all. I think that it filters very well. I think the medium should be labeled small, the large should be medium and they should have a bigger size as large with an instruction on how to determine the size you need.

This is a pretty good respirator. You have to buy cartridges for it but there are lots of different types of cartridge filters available. Its comfortable enough to wear for several hours. I would recommend the 5500 model for home projects and the 7700 model for use at work.

This mask just arrived in a plastic bag with folded package instructions. The bridge part of the mask has scratch marks on it. Is this item used? Where is the Honeywell box it should have come in with a sealed plastic bag & neatly packaged instructions? I need this mask for work as a front line EMS provider.

I cant imagine using a pre-owned mask. totally unacceptable, especially during this pandemic.

These are the best you can get. The silicone on these is much softer than the 3M respirators and doesn’t leave lines on your face. I own both. They have more condensation on the inside but it’s totally worth the trade off as you don’t notice it until you take it off.

Filters are more difficult to find than 3M but other than that they are superior. I have a beard and the large size of these make a better seal on my face.

We purchased this for some very mild home renovations (specifically to use the product Vamoose which has a conversion odor while doing its job). I took a guess as to what filters we needed getting both the OV/P100 cartridge and the circle N100 pink circle filters.

The cartridges turned out to be perfect. Not only could we not detect an iota of the Vamoose, but we couldn’t smell or have any reaction to the very intense mold smell in the basement. I have serious allergies that are activated in outside air (potentially deadly) and these filters also protect my lungs when leaving the house.

After wearing it so often it became clear there are all sorts of smells filtered, from bleach cleaners to skunk to normal household scents (which drive me nuts). We just left a hospital for a visit today and when my daughter took hers off she remarked she never really smelled how a hospital smells until she did.

She smelled nothing and then the ambient air when she took the mask off which hit her pretty hard. So not only would we buy this again, we did (and plan on buying two more). That said, this isn’t a perfect mask.

you have to cinch it to some degree of tightness. There is a seal test (two) you can use which are pretty good. I cinch less tightly if I am just going outside versus more tightly if I’m going in the basement or using a serious chemical.

I get about 2 hours before my nose bridge starts to hurt and four before that mask absolutely has to come off (we measured today in the hospital). If you wear the mask for long periods day after day it will start to cause some temporary damage to your skin (abraising the skin, causing swelling).

I usually take it on and off as I go in and out of the house so I think those little breaks make a big difference because I can wear it for 4-6 hours in a day with these breaks without super cinching.

(I will be dead serious though, when you work with key chemicals don’t skimp on the cinch). If I had to go back in time and purchase I might have tried the full mask instead of the half mask. My big concern is that a full mask would not account for my glasses and my glasses sit on these with ease.

(we are also able to wear goggles). If you are wearing this for covid protection, the thing you have to keep in mind is that the thing that makes it easy to breathe is the exhalation valve and that does NOT have a filter on it.

We put a blue surgical mask over the exhalation filter if we are going around others but it definitely isn’t the greatest solution so I recommend really working to find a good mask solution for the exhalation filter.

3M 6200 Half Facepiece Resusable Respirator, Medium: I’m so glad that I already had this and #2297 filters for use in my plastic model kit making hobby. It’s a must-have for airbrush painting & lacquering.

When the pandemic broke out I didn’t have to scramble to find a mask. It fits well. And it’s wearable for several hours at a time. The one unawarded star is for the quarter sized white rubber disks that serve as the valves to prevent exhaled air going back out thru the filters.

They eventually start to make a loud ‘click’ on each exhaled breath. Thoroughly washing out the entire unit as 3M suggests solves the issue for a short time. Unfortunately, I can only find replacement discs in big quantities, for a big price.

It’s cheaper to buy an entire new unit – which I’ve done, twice.

The respirator is used with removable vapor cartridges or particulate filters. This makes it ideal for both industrial and household use. If you can’t stand the idea of foot fungus and/or cigarette tar turned to gas in carpet cleaning vapor, this is your new best friend.

Most women will wear the medium size. If you sand your own furniture, cars, etc. this inexpensive product is your next step to saving yourself from potentially toxic products. I speak as a woman who once sanded a garbage coffee table and found out quickly that its previous owner had an extreme fondness for marijuana.

No mask=no driving that day and postponing employment interviews for even longer. EBay has cartridges and filters from 3M. The vapor cartridges will even filter out COVID-19. This product could save your life if you have a sick family member.

Needed this for my new workshop which has no extraction or through draft. Am now saving for an air filter as I am amazed at the fine dust on the floor every morning. Shop vac and cyclone is great for getting the big bits but these and the mask prevent the nagging cough.

Very good quality dust mask and filters provided by 3M and have used these products in my pigeon loft for many years. Due to pigeon dust allergy I would not be able to keep pigeons without this protection, of which allows me to enjoy my hobby unrestricted and in a safe manner.

The product is neat and fits the profile of my face with ease and comfort. The soft flexible filters have an advantage over the solid cartridge type with regard to access in confined spaces. Being able to purchase the filters in individual pairs rather than having to buy a full box at once has a cost effective advantage.

Rating based on poor customer service received. Bad is not reflection of frustration buying from Zoro…

Previous experience of face masks were that they were uncomfortable and hard to breath. This one fits well and I pretty much forgot I was wearing it. The seal is excellent meaning my glasses don’t steam up and nostrils completely clear.

I could smell the burning paint when using a hot air gun but certainly less than usual and as the filters I used were P3 (asbestos level) I don’t expect it was doing much harm. The filters seem to last well.

All in all, I can’t think how any other half face mask would beat this.

Good coverage and I feel much more comfortable using a spray booth when wearing this. No instructions for fixing the filters on, but not complicated. Have to buy the filters separately.

Mask fits great. Don’t be thrown off by the 1-star review from a person who can’t read. It CLEARLY states in the description that this is only the respirator and does not come with filters. Reading and not just looking at the pictures is always advised.

The M95 masks that my facility provided were uncomfortable and did not fit correctly. I bought this with my own money so as to hopefully avoid the rona. It is so much easier to breath in. Nice cool air in and no glasses fogging up with the exhale.

Be careful with size if you do wear glasses. The M/L size pushed my glasses up and displaced my blended bifocal. Tough to start an IV when you can’t see. Easy on/off but you should wear a head cap otherwise the straps slip off.

You will sweat inside the mask and sometimes you will it blows out the front valve. Before covid19 you could buy these for 24. 00, I paid over 100. 00 for this. So is it worth the price, time will tell.

Good, comfortable, inexpensive mask. I use it for boat, wood, aluminum sanding, applying mold-killing solution & paint, and fiberglass work. Easy to change out filters. Bought a second LPR-100 for my son, a welder, for use under the welding helmet.

The GVS Elipse masks are very good in almost every way. They block out a much higher percentage of particulates, including microorganisms, than N95 masks. They are inexpensive if you order them from a U.

S. -based distributor, such as AceTool or AFC International. They are fairly comfortable, except for one drawback that, for all I know, might be the case with all respiratory masks: they accumulate moisture on the inside from your breathing, so you will want to take them off frequently and wipe them or air dry them.

This is an especially troublesome problem with the Elipse Integra masks, where the moisture fogs up the upper, eye shield portion of the mask, as well as the bottom portion covering the mouth and nose.

I’ve been a painter for 25 years, and I’ve tried multiple brands of respirators during that time. What I’ve found is this 3M brand is the best on the market. I usually won’t buy name brands simply because it’s just a name and most of the time the performance of the product just doesn’t live up to what it’s supposed to do.

The 3m Dual Cartridge Disposable Respirator Organic Vapor/P95 Assembly will protect your respiratory system better than any other on the market, that I’ve used. The straps won’t stretch out of shape like the other ones I’ve used.

The rubber is soft, but has a nice solid shape that doesn’t flop around. It’s fully adjustable all the way around, but as I said the straps won’t become loose after one ore two uses I’ve experienced with other brands like OV/N95 Bandit SAS Safety CORP.

That brand no matter the size would not keep any paint from being inhaled. There are other brands that work, but if you want a name brand, and this is one of those very few name brands I trust my life with, buy the 3M brand.

There is no price on the one life we all have. Believe it or not this 3M brand is very solid and is at a reasonable price, for a name brand. Protect yourself and trust this 3M product to perform very well for you.

I love this mask! I’m so glad they are abailavel again i try to order some on 2020 and 2021 and they were sold out. But now they are back. This item in particular works amazing when i cleand my bath room before with bleach and 91% Alcohol i would get a alergic reaction to the chemicals.

But i had to muscle through it. The first time i tried cleaning my bath room with this mask i was amased i din’t even get a small sent of the chemicals. My life is now more simpler thanks to this amaising mask.

Used while cleaning soap scum off shower stall with Muriatic Acid. The respirator did it’s job very well as the acid fumes were incredibly toxic. The mask was comfortable, fit and sealed well on my face.

Filtration worked as it should on organic fumes. Would recommend this product. Value pricing at $30. 00.

fits better than 3m version. Uses the threaded filters. Of course filters are sold out with long backorder times as usual.

IšverstiShow in original languageI cant say I love it because I hate the fact that I dont feel protected by hospital provided n95s, and know for a fact that theyre just passing your fit test to get you to work in whatever crappy mask theyre in possession of.

I have had this independently fit tested quantitatively and qualitatively. It took a little bit to get it adjusted for the right fit, but once it was right its been great. I feel safer than with the disposable mask.

That being said, due to the fact that it has an exhalation vent, you are not protecting anyone. However, my patients all have Covid already. The hospital has asked that we cover the exhalation vent with a surgical mask.

I will be purchasing different filters because Id prefer to have ones I can wipe with virex after each use.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is the second mask i purchase in about 2. 5 years. I work with Fiberglass and Resin and i do alot of Sanding. The mask seals very well around your face and with using the assigned Cartridges in my case its number 6001 for things like pesticides and other types of fumes.

It even works well against Cigarettes smokers, i can literally stand next to one of them and not smell any of their Cancer Spreading smoke. I would highly recommend this mask and just purchase the filter cartridges that you would personally need.

There are even some for Natural Gas Smell inhalation prevention. But for me this Large size mask #6300 fits great on my face. It is not easy to find parts at the moment so sometimes you just have to get what you can find.

Thankfully the mask was inexpensive compared to when i first bought my original mask that wore it self out from the elastic string which is why i bought a full replacement. Now tha package does come sealed but it was NOT machine sealed, it basically had a zip lock type seal on top with the flaps open.

That concerned with with the whole Covid 19 pandemic and people Tampering with products prior to shipping, so i used isopropyl Alcohol to clean the outside and inside of the mask prior to using it. Over all i would highly recommend it but i would warn you and advice you to please Pre Clean your mask before applying to your face.

This is my second 3M 6000 mask and it is replacing my previous one not because it stopped working but just because after 15 years the elastic straps had stretched and gone hard. It still worked but wasn’t as comfortable as it was.

The interchangeable filters work really well and last ages. If I’m using it whilst dropping ceilings in old houses or other really dusty environments I tend to put a layer of tissue or loo roll over the filter (under the plastic cap) just to keep out the worst of the filth to make them last longer and not ruin them as they are really designed for use against volatile chemicals and work very well for this.

I had 3 sets of filters over the 15 years and even with the 3rd set fitted (which are 4 years old) you still can’t smell kerosene whilst wearing it, standing in a room with a spill which reeks of it! Excellent mask, would highly recommend.

This is my second one of these masks, and I would not buy any other. It is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time and has a great selections of filters to suit all levels of protection. Yes the cost does add up once you add on the filters, etc but the excellent protection to your lungs if more than worth it.

Forget disposable mask, there protection is limited!!!.

Great mask, does the job! Comfortable and no issues with breathing. Please note this requires a filter set as an additional item to purchase.

Clearing and sealing it is pretty much exactly like a military-style pro mask. So, fond memories there. But you shouldn’t need to clear it as long as you put it on prior to exposure. I had to take off a star because as soon as I put it on, I noticed a fluttering sound inside the mask on the left side.

After using it for several minutes, I took it off and noticed that the inlet valve on the left side had come off and was just floating around inside the mask. Had I inhaled it, this would be a different (or nonexistent) review.

It went back in easy enough (which may be the problem) but came out again a few minutes later. It’s a tricky mask to adjust. It’s best to do it blind (which it’s on your face) or have someone help. If you want to utilize the “drop down” capability, it’s easier since that part of the strap isn’t locked in place.

I haven’t tried this, because I don’t want the possibility of it shifting during use. Protective masks should be adjusted to fit your face and left there. If you need to remove it for whatever reason, leave the area that you’re using it in and just take it off completely.

It’s not a huge hassle. Replacement has been issued. Hoping the new one doesn’t have the valve problem. Overall, I am a fan of this system.

There are often “deals” on these that are tempting, until you find out that the promoted respirator is a “small.

” News flash: no man anywhere wears a “small” respirator, and few women do either! Maybe that’s why they’re promoted. In any case, there is a problem that 3M is probably aware of. This respirator internal plastic frame breaks where the filter mounts.

They always break at the same place; it’s a weak spot in the design. The only way to prevent this is to remove the respirator slowly and carefully with both hands on the filter cartridges. If you use one hand to remove the respirator from your face, that will be the side that breaks.

Come on, 3M, built it better. Will still buy until I find another that has as comfortable silicone face piece.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI was always told by the safety team at work I couldnt be issued a respirator because I refuse to shave. I dont know what respirators they’re handing out, but it must not be these.

I put on a set of the purple/yellow filters and put it on and was able to breathe in hard enough that I could make the mouthpiece flex, it had such a great seal. I used it while I was restoring my old toolbox, and while mixing the paint, thinner and hardener, I didnt smell anything at all.

It worked so well that I’d just assumed that what I was using wasnt that smelly. I left it on while cleaning up because it was light enough, and was easy to breathe through, so it wasnt annoying. Boy was I in for a surprise, even with the cans closed and sealed, and the rags already hosed off in the driveway, when I took the mask off in the shed (doors were open the while time, I sprayed outside, the smell hit me like a punch in the face.

I was actually surprised that it worked that well because of the beard, I honestly didnt expect it to block that much, I was just going for ‘most’ of the stuff, apparently, I got ‘almost all’ instead.

Would I trust this with toxic gasses? probably not, but I sure trust it enough to paint with.

Paired with p100 cartridge filters, this respirator seals better, filters better, and flows more air than disposable n95 masks. The only downside is that it muffles your voice, a LOT. Using it in a medical/clinical setting means a lot of yelling into it for people to hear you, but it provides better protection than the disposable alternatives.

I prefer the wraparound straps on this respirator than the type which split. This one is quicker and easier to don and adjust. It is very comfortable.

Product worked great for keeping dust, mold, and some gas out, at least for the most part. I personally had trouble getting it to seal around my nose, and I could still smell some of the stuff I was handling (which might be because of that, not sure) but overall, beyond what may just have to do with my own nose, it sat nicely and the head strap was very comfortable and easy to forget about once you got it on.

Used with p100 Bayonet Disk filters.

There are 3 reasons this mask is great: 1. super soft mask material results in less pain and pressure at the contact points when wearing for long periods (especially the bridge of the nose) 2. Directed exhalation flow means the moist warm air from you lungs is directed downwards.

This results in less fogging and less wetness on your face. 3. This is the big one: The quick latch system. Get it. This is the reason this mask is my go-to. I only ever adjust it once, and then I just open or close the quick latch to put it on.

It helps with needing to speak real quick, or taking a break, and helps a ton if you have hair and adjusting straps means messing with the hair. It can easily be used with gloves on and the existence on a quick latch system is what got my crew to more consistently wear their gear.

Comfort and quality of life.

This mask would have received a much higher rating if it were not for the head strap. The face mask itself is constructed very well and is very light weight to wear. The soft silicone seal provides a very good seal and is very comfortable to wear even when wearing for long periods of time.

The quick release latch is very handy when you want to drop the mask without having to remove it altogether and the downward facing exhaust valve works great at keeping safety glasses from fogging up.

The one BIG negative of this respirator and why it received only 3 stars is the head strap. It is rather thin and delicate elastic and the plastic hooks are very flimsy and cheaply made. You have to be very careful when clipping the straps or you could potentially break off the plastic locking latch.

I would expect a much higher quality from a 3M product. Only time will tell but I really can’t see this strap holding up over the long haul. I will post another review in a few months to let you know how well the elastic straps are holding up.

It can not be worn comfortably with a helmet and/or hearing protection – think chainsaw helmet. The thick clunky strap adjustments fit just above my ears where a hard hat head band fits and where the top part of hearing protection cups cushions fit.

The standard plastic head harness on other cartridge masks with molded-in straps works. Use those and move the strap adjustments down out of the way.

This is my second one. These welding helmets take a beating and hold up well. The only thing that went out was the lense on my old one but after years of use. My old one I installed a regular lens. I saw a great price on a new one so I grabbed it right away! These have gotten more affordable and you cant beat the price.

I took the helmet to a friends welding shop to get their opinion also. Myself and 3 other welders were amazed at how well we could see what we were welding. This is a great helmet for the money. One day I would like to be able to test the next level helmet they make.

It’s a great fit, works perfect for the jobs i am encountering at the job site. One small tiny flaw, the tightening knobs, loosen up quickly when lifting the hood up and down all day, but use Teflon tape on each knob and works like a champ.

The product is great. In fact, I will order another one for another member of my household. However, I have one issue with the packaging of the product. 3M should return to using an outer bag that has a built in plastic zipper and way to initially open/unseal it without using a scissors.

Then, u are much less likely to damage any elastic part of the mask if u accidentally cut the bag and some invisible elastic part at the same time. 3M, please return to your earlier plastic zipper outer bag packaging! Thanks.

Fits well. Comfortable for long periods. Quick latch release is great when you need to talk frequently, as when demonstrating a technique. The filters I have for my 7500-series mask (which I also love) all fit this mask as well.

Good to have easy access online to the small size; few stores carry a small size and the right fit is imperative for full protection.

The biggest problem with ordering a respirator online is that you can’t fit test it. I first ordered a small based on 3Ms recommendation which is based on height. The small turned out to be too small so I ordered a medium.

The medium fits just fine. It seems to me that measuring the distance from the bridge of your nose to your chin would be a much better basis for fit recommendation than height. Now that I have a respirator which fits, I’m very happy with it.

It’s quite comfortable and fits well under my Hobart Impact Black welding helmet. The flip-down feature might be useful for talking to people but I find it more useful for enabling me to quickly dry the condensation out of the respirator.

As long as I wear a welding cap underneath, I don’t even notice the plastic head piece (I do notice it if I try to weld without the cap). Overall, I have to say that this is the best respirator I’ve ever used.

Perfect fit. Comfortable. Fits under my Lincoln grinding shield and welding helmet with no problem at all. Im glad I spent the extra couple of bucks to go up to the 6500 series. More comfortable silicon face seal.

Make sure you pay attention to the last number which is the size. 6501 is small. 6502 is medium and 6503 is large. So just pay attention. Im 64 300 lbs and large fits great.
