20 Best Wetsuits For Kids (2022 Updated)

I tried a lot of different brands and found that nothing would really fit as I needed it to, being 63, 253lbs and way out of my normal 210lbs weight bracket. I tried in O’Niell the Epic, Excel’s Axis which fit perfectly but too expensive for something I will soon not be needing as I lose weight.

The Epic was good but for some reason, as with most of O’Niells the last 15 yrs, they are 2 – 3 inches too short in the legs. The 2XL Fit perfectly but was way too short in the legs. The 2XLL was the same exact length in the legs (2 inches above the ankle) and instead added several inches in torso length and arm length.

Now I’m not some disportinate man at 6’3 and 210 – 220 (normally). I’m now 253 because of an injury but still the same problem I’ve had with O’Niell for a long time still seems to plague my favorite company and go to wetsuit throughout the 80′ and 90’s.

It was so precise back then that I never needed to try on suits from one year to the next because I never changed height or weight and was an XL all the time. Then one yr they cut the leg length and it has still been the same issue almost 20yrs later.

Luckily this wetsuit fit me perfectly and despite being just a touch short in the legs, it was nowhere near as short as the Epic. I don’t know maybe I’m just tripping out and after 42 yrs of surfing I just forget how to correctly get into a suit.

But despite all the issues I had with the Epic and every suit across the line up for a long long time now. This one is almost perfect. At $124, almost perfect is actually good enough for me. I do wish that whoever is involved in the design department would take a good hard look at what these suits are doing for men of my height who have a really normal athletic build, broad shoulders and look like an athlete.

Add an extra 1 1/2 inches in the legs on your regular sized XL suits and XXL suits and stop adding so much torso length and arm length in Long design. You guys are really missing the mark here and I wish it was the same go to brand I’ve always relied on growing up.

Great job on the Reactor 2 though, I’m super stoked.

I received the suit and tried it in my sit on top canoe with 17 degrees Celcius outside temperature and it was really warm. The breast piece was a good shield against the cold wind and the arms had enough stretch and room for a good paddle movement.

The only thing is that the upper legs were a bit wide for my not so muscular legs, so the suit is a bit floppy there. And i would appreciate a small piece of ribbon or neoprene at the down end of the zipper to be able to hold the bottom of the zip with one hand while pulling it up with the long ribbon with the other hand.

In that way there is less stress on the zipper. This could be a product improvement i think. ! Otherwise great!.

This suit is great so far! I’ve taken it our 4 times in SoCal waters in September-October temperatures. It has been great. I’m warm enough the whole time without much moving at all. Last time I did get a bit chilly but its still great.

This is my first wetsuit and I like it a lot. If anyone is looking for a great and inexpensive suit for your first wetsuit, this is a great option. The material works great and everything. I love it.

We are am Alaskan vessel family. Meaning we live on the water or close to the shore all over the navigable waters of Alaska- my other half and I are vessel captains, we are also a family of commercial divers/swimmers so it’s extremely important to get our 2 year old in the water as much as possible.

With covid shutting down our pools, finally now opening back up, we have a chance to get her in the pool and learn how to swim as it is crucial for her. The quality of this suit is amazing. Even with her having sensory processing this suit made it very easy for her to acclimate while staying warm (kid is so lean so she gets cold quickly).

I love this suit! It fits her perfectly. I have researched several and my biggest worry was finding one that would fit her since she is a leaner toddler and other brands seemed geared towards the more full sized toddlers.

She is 100% comfortable in the suit. It’s been great and will continue to purchase from this company as she grows. I’m so glad we went with this brand. My only wish is to get her a full dry suit thicker than a 3 mm!.

Quality size and product is amazing!!! Very very happy. My child is very slim. Not sure or this suit would fitt fattier child. But for a slim child all fitted perfect!

I said I would be back in my 2-5-2013 review. 🙂 This time I bought the size 3 thinking I could skip a size by her measurements but it was too loose. I kept it anyway and ordered the 2 as she will grow into it and these suits are fantastic.

The 2 arrived quickly and fits very well. Her measurements with a roll up tape measure: Neck 9. 25 Chest 20. 5 Hip 21 Height 36. 5 Shoulder 24. 5 Weight 33 lbs. She was getting snug in the size one and now fits very well in the two.

FYI – the size one suit faded a fair amount over the year probably due to the weekly or bi-weekly chlorine exposure of the indoor pool, which has not bothered or deteriorated the rest of the suit in any way, only the color fading.

The seems, stitching, zipper, etc. are all 100%. There is no doubt the size one suit will work for the next daughter as well. and maybe another child after that. These suits are fantastic and worth purchasing for the comfort of the child, the fit, and the quality.

The reason our daughter loves the water so much, and has become part fish, is this incredible wet suit.

This is a great wetsuit at a great price. My older son and I have Henderson wet suits but the dive shop here does not carry junior sizes for my 12 year old. We ordered using the size chart and the fit is perfect.

The price is reasonable enough to invest in over renting, even knowing my 12 year old is going to outgrow it eventually. Especially since it is a 5 mm and rentals are only 3mm.

When I first got my hands on the simple plastic packaging of the wetsuit, my first thought was that the package cannot contain a wetsuit: it felt so thin and flexible. I have not dived with the suit yet, but it seems of very good quality to me.

Indeed it stretches well and is amazingly soft. The front zip is robust; the shoulder pattern looks nice. I am particularly happy with having chosen the right size, but I would not have been able to do that had it not been for a comment by another customer who said that one should choose one size smaller than the size table says.

I consulted Wetsuit Wearhouse people and, based on the measurements I gave them, they advised a number 4 instead of a numer 6 which I would have chosen, had I not seen the customer comment. It would be good if this advise was somehow visible on the website: don’t go automatically for a size but send your measurements and ask for a recommendation.

The wetsuit shipped very quickly and I can’t wait to try it in four weeks!.

I have tried to find a wetsuit that fits for a couple of years. This is the one! It is built for a woman’s body. The neoprene used is more flexible than others and is perfect for the cold water of the outdoor pool where I take water aerobics.

The sizing is true. Go by the size chart and it should work. I am only 5’4” and wear a 34DDD bra and it zips over my chest. One recommendation I would make is that you partially zip the open leg and step into it to get it on.

Trying to zip it after you put it on is very difficult.

super comfy, love it! got it at ll bean price is awesome. haven’t used it yet, but looking forward to it! but, size chart is not correct. i am 5’1 and 91 lb and the youth large is a little big. i also love the zipper! i am always hearing complaints about how hard wetsuits are and this one is super easy! although the collar sometimes feels like it is choking you.

I purchased it for my 5 year-old granddaughter who lives in Patagonia Argentina and loves to swim in their snow-fed lakes. She is tall for her age and slender. It fits her well for length and in the torso.

The neck was uncomfortably high in front and sides so we trimmed about 1/2” off and she’s happy with it.

We are so glad you starting making smaller wetsuits! Our kiddos need to stay warm and enjoy the ride too! My 3 year old daughter is a slim one and this still worked great for her. I think the shorty wetsuit is perfect for summer adventures in cool water.

It’s a good wetsuit, but just note that it’s not a 3/2mm wetsuit, it’s probably 1mm. Thus the price. So it’s not for long sessions in the water, but ok for a little kid / beginner.

Great quality, well made! Accurate size. Keeps my daughter warm when swimming in addition to aiding support in floating.

Excellent wet suit!! My grandson who is three years old and I routinely go to an indoor water park in the Chicago Area (Great Wolf). MY grandson would always started to shiver within 30 minutes but he loved the water park.

I would have to take him back to the room to warm up. So I decided to purchase him a Wet Suit from Wetsuit Warehouse. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE YOUR WET SUIT DID!! My grandson stayed in the water the entire day without one shiver I also shiver when I was at the water park and I purchased myself an adult wet suit.

Got this for my very slender 7yo for her swim lessons at an indoor pool. The water is kept cooler, as it is used in swim competitions. She stays much warmer in this, and it has enough stretch for her to move her arms and legs in the full range of motion needed for all the strokes she is learning.

The only thing I don’t like is that the sleeves are very narrow. My daughters arms have red circles where the bands are digging into her skin at mid arm where the sleeves end, and it’s always a challenge getting her arms out.

She is a very slender child, so if your kid is anything other than very, very slim, the fit may be a little tight in the arms. She also tells me the chest is a little tight. The length is generous. I really love the level of customer support I was given.

I am and will be a loyal customer because of the great prices and outstanding customer service.

As many other reviewers, I bought this suit for my son to keep him warm while he takes swim calsses. He is 6 years old, very skinny, but rather tall for his age (95 percentil), and the size 4 suit fits him perfectly (though I think it will become small for him because of his height shortly).

The suit keeps him perfectly warm for the whole lesson. He doesn’t want to come out of the pool even after 90 minutes. Just as comparison, he would be shivering and shaking without the suit after just 10 minutes in the same pool.

When he takes the suit of, he is completely warm under it. We fill warm water into the suit in the shower before he enters the pool, so he doesn’t get cold for a minute. I only gave four stars as there was a small hole on the suit when it arrived (may be due to the mailman who squished the suit into the mailbox.

). I am afraid that the material might give way where the hole is, but I couldn’t return the suit as we needed it urgently. I would definetly recommend this wetsuit to others with kids who get cold easily in a pool.

Great wetsuit! For a great price! I Love it and would highly recommend this product. I live in San Diego so I was looking for a good year-round wetsuit because our ocean temps are usually between 57-62 degrees in the off season or leading up to the summer months.

I was worried this would be too warm but it’s the perfect thickness for a year-round wetsuit. It’s is a little tight in the arms and shoulders but I think once I break it in a bit it will stretch out.

I have broader shoulders naturally, so it comes with the territory.

I’m not an experienced wetsuit user but this is a great wetsuit. The stretch of the material is far superior to the other wetsuit I have used from many years ago. That adds quite a bit of comfort to something that needs to fit a little tight in the first place.

I wanted one specifically for a lot of warmth as my previous wetsuit did not keep me warm enough. I am cold natured and don’t like chilly water. My water temps are likely in the 60-70s while Jet skiing but that is cold to me.

This wetsuit seemed to keep a majority of the water out and I was surprisingly not cold. The only cold areas were my hands and neck when I didn’t have the neck closed fully. It’s not very clear how the furnace liner is attached, it is a full panel on the back, attached along both sides, which is not split down the middle back with the zipper.

This can make it more difficult to get on and off but it is still very stretchy and I haven’t had any real problems with it. Very happy with this purchase.

Great suit. Toasty for the chilly and windy dawn sessions on the Central Coast of California. As a former West Coast Champion, top ten in the US and professional surfer, I still take surfing seriously and I need good equipment to be successful.

This suit is a good one: It is warm, flexible and well-built. Lastly, it was fairly priced. The only thing that I don’t like about this suit, and other back-zip suits, is that the back Velcro enclosure sticks to everything when not in use.

This tends to breakdown the neoprene in other places. I have been sponsored by lots of wetsuit companies: Rip Curl, Billabong, Hurley and WEST – when you are no longer getting gear for free, everything becomes a consideration.

That is my only gripe. I need my suits to last long because money is an issue.

Size wise, fits like a glove. MT is a hard size to find nowadays so in that regard Billabong hit the mark. Suit is flexible and warm. The only thing I have to say negative would be that the interior of the suit is a little scratchy and rough on bare skin.

I don’t wear a rash guard so I notice the interior feel of most suits. On a scale of 1-10 this suit gets an 8. 5.

Great wetsuit, before and after experience with the integrated hood, water doesn’t enter on the neck when passing a wave! I first used it in Chapadmalal, Argentina with 12 degrees C water and it kept the body temperature perfectly.

This is a cracking shorty wetsuit it fits really nicely im a 14/16 im currently sea swimming in it but will use it for paddleboarding too. having the lycra arms makes it easier to move your arms with no restrictions.

Good value for money it is a quality made wetsuit very pleased with my purchase.

I’m pleased I ordered the XL, I’m a size 14 to 16 and this is a good fit, a little tight, but I know they give after a few times of wearing. I have recently started cold water swimming and kayaking and this is brilliant for both.

I bought this for our forthcoming trip around the north coast of Scotland, so I’ve not used it yet. It is a really good fit and true to size. Feels good quality. A reasonable price too. Am very happy with purchase.

Keeps the kiddo warm and mobile, looks good, zipper functions well, uva/uvb protection, nice neoprene core and with lycra at the ends, hopefully it’ll hold up well over time!

So far so good!!! I bought this as “inexpensive” starter set-up for my 14 year old child. For the price, I’m very happy with the quality. My son has 4 dives on it so far and seems to really like it. I would definitely recommend this as a value option/ first Scuba set-up.

I bought this to go cold water swimming. I love it, it keeps my core warm while allowing the beneficial effects of the cold water on legs and arms. Perfect fit I am a size 14 and bought exl. Good value and excellent quality.

I used this wetsuit to swim in Cornwall in early June, I found it comfortable and warm. I would recommend the item to other women, I consider it to be reasonably priced.

Do yourself a favor and buy this wetsuit! This is hands down the best wetsuit I have ever owned through my three decades of wetsuit use, surfing the North Atlantic. It is flexible in the shoulder, so quite easy to slide into and I do not feel restricted in any way in the surf.

The zipper and synch are perfect keep it snug to your form. I surf through the cold months on Long Island, NY and I can stay out for 2-3 hours in 43 degree water without feeling cold (as long as the winds are light!).

The seams and seals are all water-tight and the overall engineering and design is fabulous. I have worn this suit a dozen times now and there is no visible wear – just some surf wax marks that can be easily washed off.

Great purchase! Worth every penny.

About 10 months after purchase I noticed a white mark on the right shoulder that looks a bit like threads coming from the neoprene. This has continued to expand and now I notice it has appeared on the other shoulder.

I took it to my local surf shop to see if this is considered normal wear and tear. In their opinion, this is not normal for a suit purchased less than a year ago and they recommended I reach out to you.

I use the suit an average of twice per week in Northern California waters. After each use I’ve rinsed in in cold water and hung it over a Landry rack inside out until dry, then right side out until dry.

After then, the suit would be folded over a hanger at the waist the same way you would hang up a pair of dress pants. It has never been hung up by the shoulders in the way you would hang a jacket on a hanger.

Contacted Vissla to inquire about the 1 year warranty. They said after a ” further look at the photos and information provided and unfortunately the photos are showing elastic wear. This is from constant pressure/pulling/stretching in those areas.

” If this is normal for a wetsuit to break apart after 10 months, then this company needs to find another line of work.

I’ve been using this for Hobie sailing since late April on Lake Michigan- and it’s worked great! Worked well for me down to 45 degree water. It’s super comfortable with no rash issues. Material very flexible.

Vissla size chart is accurate. I am 6’2″, 170lbs and M-Tall fits perfectly. It takes practice to put it on properly (find a video to show you how), but worth the effort. Let’s in just a thin film of water and keeps me super warm.

Based on the size chart and other reviews, I decided to size up. I’m technically XL, but went with the XXL. I dive professionally in regulated water temps and average three hours hooka diving, so I wanted a more comfortable range of motion for the demands of my job.

The neck and leg openings are still too tight, but it’s not life-threatening. Just not comfy and I struggle to don/doff. I’ve even lost ten pounds since my purchase and still have not improved the ease of use.

Best advice, if you’re towards the upper limits of the size chart ranges, just size up. I’m 5’11”, 183 lbs, athletic/Amazonian build (I did not trust the weight ranges on the size chart, as I am heavier due to muscle).

I am 5’3” and weigh 140. I ordered this Pinnacle Cruiser Women’s wetsuit size LS based on the size chart (5’4”-5’7”, 140-165lb). I needed it right away and paid for expedited shipping ($45). It arrived on time but was 3-4 inches too short.

There was no way I’d ever fit in it so I had to pay an additional $55 to ship it back. So $100 in shipping charges for a product that was misrepresented. I won’t be buying from sellers who charge for shipping and returns in the future.

The suit itself seemed acceptable if I had been able to get into it.

I have two 7mm Cruisers, and one 5mm cruiser. I’ve been a diver at an aquarium for two years now and cruisers are now the only wetsuit I use. I started wearing a 7mm cruiser on dives in a tank at 52F, and eventually wore one on a dive trip to the apostle islands.

The suit I wore on my dives in the islands had a blown out knee and I was still warm after a 1. 5 hour dive around some sea caves at 50F. After the trip I bought a 7mm for myself, and have since completed a 65 minute dive at 39F and the only thing cold was my face.

I now have a second 7mm and a 5mm that I use for work and I complete 30-90 minute dives in 50F-60F in both suits on a weekly basis and never feel the cold! I’m currently buying another 7mm for work and expect them all to last years.

My only complaint is that after about half an hour in the 7mm at 60F I start to get too hot!.

Xcel by far makes the best wetsuits that I’ve worn, compared with four other major brands I’ve had in the past. The fit is perfect, it’s very warm while still being light and super flexible. The only downside with these suits is that they may not last quite as long as other brands that use more durable materials.

However, I feel like I would rather have more flexibility and less longevity. Interestingly nearly all major surf brand wetsuits are manufactured by the same OEM in Taiwan. So when comparing different models from manufacturers it really comes down to materials used, fitment and overall design.

In my opinion Xcel has these super dialed in. Best new feature: magnetic zipper closure is rad Least best new design element: they’ve changed the key holder to just be an elastic string without the small pocket.

I feel like this increases the chance of losing your key.

I’ve done 2 surf sessions in this suit, the first was air 48, water 49, small surf, and I was uncomfortable hot. Today (December) it was, 33 air, 46 water, stiff offshore winds, 3-4 foot, steep, but closeouts.

Very warm suit, I was never even slightly cool. Flexibility is good for a suit this thick. I didn’t notice any restrictions paddling or popping up. Very dry, never flushed, water only slowly seeped to my elbows and knees.

Thighs and torso stayed dry (well, except for sweat). I’m (almost) 5’8”, 158 (lean) lbs. and I ordered a Medium, which fits well. I’m on the small end of the size range, and that seems to be good. If I were on the large end of the scale I think it would be too tight/small.

Fairly easy entry, for a suit this thick, and gets easier. Getting out of the suit is another issue. Kinda like “welcome to the Wetsuit California”. Dries very quickly ! My only complaint is the hood is too thick/warm, but perhaps when the water gets into the mid 30’s, I’ll appreciate it.

As a longtime owner of Excel Drylock products, I was disappointed with this suit and sent it back. This 6/5 was VERY difficult to get on and virtually impossible to get off and that was brand new and bone dry.

I shudder to think what it would have been like trying to take it off after a session. In addition, once I finally got it on it was so tight and constrictive that I doubt I could have been much use in the lineup.

My 5/4 Drylock is the same size and it super flexible and easy to get on and off. Yes, I do know that a 6/5 is thicker and more restrictive. But this one was, for me, unusable. Maybe a different size would work better but I decided to tough out the rest of the winter in the 5/4 which is plenty warm enough if it’s not too windy.

I highly recommend Excel Drylock products but, sadly, this one did not work for me.

Purchased a couple of months ago for my 14 year old son who is dinghy sailing at the local lake. He has worn it now about 5 times and not once complained about being cold or uncomfortable. Considering this review relates to him using the wetsuit for 3 hour stretches in April/May time, this is a good achievement.

He does often intentionally capsize his boat, so he is making sure it works well in the cold water. Very happy to recommend this product and delivery was very prompt.

I was so sick of those extra long wetsuits for the super tall flat-chested women. Don’t be put off that it is for a girl. This one covers an E bra size without flattening your chest. The back zip is fiddly but way better than having the front zip-type that scratches your face when on a surf board.

The thighs are exactly the right fit too! I also l like the fact that you do not look like a telly tubby when wearing this one.

Fantastic wetsuit for the price, thicker than a lot of the cheaper kids ones, also love the way the ankles have Velcro making it easier to get my children’s feet/legs in and out. Only criticism is the thighs are a little baggy on both my little boys i suppose they are quite slim build but I can’t imagine many children filling the large thigh area.

Fit everywhere else just fine!.

Very tight fitting wetsuit which is true to size. I had to go a size bigger so i could get my wrists through the arms and its still a bit of a struggle. Ive got slim wrists too. However the chest waist and hip measurements are a good size much better than the previous oliaena suit which had big hips on it.

I have been looking for a decent wetsuit at an affordable price but that seems trickier than expected, I’ve had a few delivered and returned so when I found this one I was so relieved I could finally get out there and enjoy it straight away, easy to take off, keeps me dry and warm where I’m covered and stretches where it needs to.

I am a 5’8” woman, size 12. This wetsuit felt too short in the body for me, like I was having my shoulders pulled down out of their sockets. Meanwhile, it fitted my ankles/legs/hips lovely but gaped at the lower back and neck.

Such a shame as it is a good quality, lovely looking wetsuit, just not the right fit for me!.

Voor de rest zit het pak wel goed in elkaar en door dat het pak zo dun is kan het kind er makkelijk inkomen zonder ritsjes bij de pijpen.

Elk nadeel heeft z’n voordeel. We gaan in de mei vakantie in Nederland kijken of de kinderen in het wetsuit kunnen spelen rond het water, hopelijk met een zonnetje voor ze.

This is a great wetsuit! Wetsuit wearhouse’s customer service was excellent and helped me figure out what size I should get. I am new to wearing wetsuits. I got a size 10 to accomodate for my 36” chest size measurement.

Although I am only 5’3” , the suit fits really well. It does not bunch in the arm or leg areas, adjusting it as I am putting it on helps. It is keeping me warm in our waters here on California’s central coast.

I am using it for body boarding and it’s been working well as I duck dive and paddle. The only thing that I guess could be a little better is the velcro for the neck fastening. It gets caught on every part of the suit including the soft fleece like lining on the inside (ahh!).

I can usually re fasten it to the other side of the velcro where it is supposed to go when I’m washing it or putting it on/taking it off. The knee panels are great for wipeouts and helped me out when I came a little close to some underwater rocks.

I also love the color and pretty tropical-floral design, I think that makes the suit unique!.

Very comfortable suit. I bought the size 14 (extremely rare to find this size in stock). Easy to get on and off, fits well. I use it for belly boarding, so boy legs good. I also use it for cold water swimming now that the temperature has dropped and the storms are rolling in.

It’s 2 mm so best for the experienced cold water dippers! 4 stars as it is a little bit expensive. Also wish that size 14s could be found with the suits that have colourful and stylish panels. This suit is basic black.

I have a collection of wet suits and this one beats them all. it holds up and really keeps you warm on those chilly mornings or late evening swims – this one is just a grade above other brands; exceptional construction! A good wetsuit for a reasonable price. The extra layer in the chest & back have a really nice, soft feel. I was debating going to the XL size because of measurements, but ended up with the L and it was a really nice fit.

Good fit as advised. Really warm. Was used in sea at westward ho, it was 13 degrees and wetsuit was toasty warm. Mystic make great suits. Fox fur liner was lovely and soft.
