20 Best Wheelchairs For Outdoors (2022 Updated)

Never needed a wheelchair before, so this is my first try at purchasing one. I was looking for a lightweight but sturdy wheelchair to transport my parents from the car to appointments and shopping. Received the chair this week, on time and in perfect condition.

It came fully assembled except for the foot rests that attach over metal pegs for use and can be removed for storage. So far, my mom, who weighs about 125lbs, has used it about 4 times, and she loves it.

(We have not tried it for my father yet) Pros: 1. light weight enough for me to easily put in and take out of my car 2. It folds up easily (with foot rests removed) and fits in the back compartment of my van.

3. Easy to maneuver. 4. Comfortable to sit in for an hour or so (thats the longest its been used so far) 5. Looks nice (cheery blue and green plaid) 6. There are two pockets behind the backrest to carry small items (ie cell phone) 7.

It came with a small bag of tools Cons: 1. When using the brakes they do NOT fully stop the chair from moving. (I used one of the tools to tighten the bolts on the brake levers, that helped, but it still does not completely stop the wheels) I do not recommend parking this with someone in the chair on a slanted surface.

Also, it makes it difficult to hold the chair steady while someone is getting in and out of the chair. I do not recommend if the rider cannot get in or out of the chair mostly on their own. 2. A very small pamphlet came with the wheelchair.

It contains information on how to safely use the chair and it contains a small diagramed picture of the chair. The print is small, so if you use reading glasses you’ll need them. The pamphlet does NOT contain instructions on how to open the chair, how to attach the foot rests, or what to use the tools for that came with it.

I had to use trial and error. Not terrible, but it took about 15-20 minutes to figure out how to open the chair and be confident it was secure and to attach the footrests correctly. I gave a 3 star rating because of the brakes.

If they held completely, I would give it a 5 star. For what we need right now, this chair works.

Bought this chair for my mother for Christmas. I just wanted something new and lightweight, with nice leg rests. Chair arrived, it was very nice, but it was missing the leg rest attachments. Why would they send a new chair without all the parts is beyond me.

They offered a $30 discount, or to send the chair back. I opted to send the chair back, because what good is the chair without the leg rests. I had to go through the hassle of repacking the chair and having FedEx come pick it up.

At least I got a refund, but I still don’t have a new chair for my mother, which is what I really wanted. I just wish they sold what was advertised.

I was most worried when I ordered because of the different sizes of the seat, and wheels. Size matters, remember who will be using it and where you will be using this wheelchair. The smaller size (seat width) will be better in most older homes, and going through older doorways.

and the larger wheels make it most useable anywhere. Overall very pleased with this wheelchair after several months of use. The drop-in leg supports are a bit awkward, but you get used to using them.

It folds up easily for fitting in a hatch or trunk of a car.

Like the size, 20inch seat allows me take a tote bag filled with what I need to go to the living room. Cereal breakfast in baggies, put all other ingredients in baggie also chia seed sliced almond. Milk goes in a mini bottle.

Banana. Tea in thermos to keep hot. Add a bowl cup spoon. Lunch and dinner is portable also in plastic containers. Need a tire or everything will fall out the back. Light weight awesome radius.

Really like my compact power wheelchair, went to an outdoor craft show with my wife and worked out excellent. Was able to watch my 4 grandkids at there soccer games, baseball games and softball games.

I can only walk about 30 yards before I’m out of breath and the power wheelchair is nice. The only drawback is it’s weight, but I’m still learning how to pick it up and put it in the trunk of my car.

I still love the freedom I now have. Thank you Med Mart.

Let me start off by saying that I am an Occupational Therapist who works with mostly with geriatrics in the Home Health setting. I’ve seen many, many transport wheelchairs. This is THE most affordable one I found, and since the many, many detailed reviews were 5-star – higher than the more expensive ones – I decided on this one when my own needs arose.

Our medical bills right now are astronomical. So, after extensive reading, despite my skeptcism, I ordered this chair for my 15 year old daughter, who broke her femur and is non weight-bearing on her left leg for a long time.

This was the BEST decision I could have made. She refuses to use a wheelchair at school, but this chair gives her a desperately-needed break at home and elsewhere. I just cannot believe this wheelchair is such an affordable price.

What a blessing for us and for so many others. It is VERY high-quality and perfect for someone that does not need to be able to push themselves around (although they could toodle around using their feet, or even for with just one foot for extremely short distances (e.

g. one room to another next door room inside a house) if non weight-bearing on one leg. Unlike the many other transport chairs that I have seen, the person using it can reach down and lock the brakes themselves because they are on the front side of the rear wheels.

This is SO IMPORTANT for someone who is cognizant to be able to lock their own brakes! Although not shown in the main photo, this chair comes with the back footrest “resting” straps – this is also critical so that patients don’t have to hold their feet in place; they can truly rest them.

It comes ALREADY PUT TOGETHER and includes a tool to adjust the footrest length if need be. It has a seatbelt – something that we don’t need and can easily push aside, but such a nice touch! It has little pedals on the back for the person pushing the cair from the back can push their foot down to help the chair over a bump.

the back folds down for easy storage. There are carrying handles. The back is high enough to support people on the taller side. It is narrow enough to easily fit through standard doorways. Most adults would be able to fit in this chair comfortably because the sides are open, so they don’t press against your thighs if they spill over.

My daughter is 5’6″ and 113, so I knew she would fit easily into this “narrow” chair. (this chair is 17″ wide which is the width of a “narrow” wheelchair. A “standard” wheelchair is 19″ wide. ) However, I am 5’2″ and 175 lbs, so pretty chunky.

It was *slightly* tight to get into at the front, but once seated at the back, it is perfectly comforrtable for me due to no metal sides like you would normally find on a standard wheelchair that would press up against my fat thighs.

This chair is SUCH a blessing. Thank you a million times over, Drive Medical, for making a very high-qaulity transport wheelchair that more people will be able to afford.

Some of the buttons that snap the moving pieces into position were misaligned and would not securely fasten in place. Also the hand brake tension could not be adjusted so that my mother could use them.

She has a great amount of hand/arm weakness, so for the average customer this would not be a problem. Some home workshop filing may have fixed the problems but we decided to return. The return process was easy at the local customer service desk.

The smaller seat size is good if the patient is small, and the chair maneuvers more easily in tight spaces and doorways. The framework is substantial enough to do the job well. Overall a good buy and a very good price.

It’s VERY lightweight which is a huge blessing! It’s incredibly easy to fold up and easy to push along while folded. It moves along well with my Mom in the chair except going over some thresholds. I’ve learned to pull her through doorways backwards when I see that the threshold is taller, instead of pushing her through frontward and it works so much better.

Other reviews I read before purchasing said the wheels were not very sturdy and some mentioned the front wheels breaking very easily. Pulling the chair over the threshold instead of pushing it through will definitely help with the life of the smaller front wheels.

I bought this one because it has larger back wheels and I’m glad I did. The only thing I worry about is the life of the brake handles. Because they are down on the back wheels, there is a tendency to use your feet to lock & unlock them which could easily bend them so you have to be careful.

If we have a need for another one, I might try the one with the brakes on the handles. Oh, I love how nice the foot rests attach to the sides of the chair and easily pop out and swing around for use! The last thing is that I believe the stats said the chair could hold 300 lbs.

While I’m sure it could hold that amount of weight, I don’t thing it would last very long at all.

It’s wonderfully light, as promised. Sturdy and easy to maneuver. Easy to fold. The tires are small but tough, making them easy to roll over rough surfaces. When folded up, it uses very little trunk space.

It’s a good idea to buy a few bungee cords if you plan to check it in on a plane or leave it on a jetway for stowage in the cargo hold. Label every component with your name. The footrests tuck away neatly (and lock open firmly) but they fall off easily when tossed around by baggage handlers.

(The manufacturer does not provide a link to keep the foot rest attachment from falling off if it is roughly handled. )A cotter pin or some other locking device would be a nice addition but we don’t have that so lots of bungee tie-ups and labels are very important.

Don’t neglect that if traveling. Last suggestion:If you drop your chair off for belly storage at the jetway, be sure you have gotten an airline tag instructing baggage handlers to put the chair on the jetway at the other end on arrival at your destination.

If you don’t, your chair will wind up a very long way away in baggage claim and it will be your problem to get there somehow.

When you purchase a product it is important that the product does what it says it does. It is also just as important that the company producing that product stands behind any problems you may have with that product OR with any problems that occurred after that product left the company’s premises.

AND THAT IS WHAT THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT. When I received the first Medline Transport Wheelchair I was so excited. It was easy to assemble (as stated) and everything worked great. except for one bent wheel.

which I later determined was connected to a hole in the side of the box. Obviously this product was damaged in delivery. I contacted Amazon who connected me with Medline. THEY IMMEDIATELY SENT A REPLACEMENT AND INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HOW THE DAMAGED PRODUCT COULD BE RETURNED.

It was picked up at my apartment door (at no cost to me). Tonight I assembled the new wheelchair and it is fantastic. Smooth ride, comfortable and easy to maneuver. Thanks to Medline for being a “customer service” oriented company that ALSO makes fantastic products.

It is working out great. I can only see 2 things wrong with it for our circumstances, but not really a problem with the wheelchair, just our circumstances: (1) we knew it would be tight fit through the doors, inside and out.

It was. It clears the doors with only one inch (both sides included in the inch), which means we have to aim REALLY well to get through the doors. and. (2) the front wheels don’t always make it over the hump in the outside door unless I physically go under the wheelchair and turn the wheel to face directly into the door.

Any turn to the side, even by a fraction, and it jams on the door-hump, which is only about 1/2 inch high, and turns fully sidewise to the door, so we have to back up and try again. Other than that, though, this is a wonderful godsend for us.

Definitely a wide enough seat for my husband and works well with his feet even though one is in a HUGE heavy black boot-cast over his surgery area. I would recommend this wheelchair o anyone needing a wide chair.

good and wide for the patient, still makes it through a regular size house door.

If I could, I would give this wheelchair 3 1/2 stars not just 3 stars. 1) My mother was getting back aches after sitting in this chair for an hour. I took a guess and figured it was the flimsy cloth back that was the culprit.

It turned out I was right, since I was able to get rid of her back aches as follows: I had to buy the (stiffer) back pad made by Drive for this model. The original back that the chair comes with is just cloth, it keeps her back in a very rounded, unhealthy position.

Luckily my mother is just 5 feet 3 and her thighs are not so long that the reduced seat depth bothers her. 2) The arms swing up, this is very helpful, but the piece that holds the arms in the back in the “up” position is plastic, and it has broken, after less than 6 months use.

It was obviously not designed for heavy use: We need to swing the right arm up a couple of times a day so that my mother can use a slide board to transfer into/out of her bed. Now that that piece has broken, when we swing the arm up and back, it just falls to the ground.

I’m a longterm wheelchair user. This is pretty nice but it’s not feasible for outdoor use and it’s a large one or wide which I use because I was pregnant and then had 2 newborns to hold and nurse so the extra wide seat made it a lot easier.

I’m only 140 lbs tho and I don’t flop down in the seat, ever, and in a year and a half the seat began ripping out. I use it inside and only sit outside in it or wheel to my van sometimes and the wheels have become wobbly.

They may only need tightening done though. It’s a huge help to me but theres probably better choices. Btw I was given a 10%chance of ever walking again and here I am standing. My wheelchair is right outside the pic and my daughter had to give it to me about 30 seconds later but this is progress.

I’ve worked hard! And have had ZERO physical therapy because my insurance. I’m very proud of myself!.

I have been a T-4 paraplegic since ’91; from then to now, I have bought and used 6-7 chairs (mostly Quickie). This is my first Drive Medical chair. In the 3 weeks I have been using it, it performs great, as good as my other chairs did.

And given its approximately $200 price tag at Walmart (which is the first time I have shopped for wheelchairs on WM), saves me from customarily spending 2-4 times as much at other medical equipment sites.

Of course, I had to make some modifications to suit my use, eg. use the middle hole for the back wheels’ axles (lowering the seat, so I can transfer better/easier from my bed, toilet/commode, shower bench and car — and vice-versa), using the enclosed extenders to increase the seat depth from 16″ to 18″ ( I have long legs, and my thighs can use the extra support), and trying to find the “sweet spot” among the 3-holes front caster wheels’ forks (to make it easier to get over room thresholds).

At 41lbs, its a little heavier than the 34 lbs I use to, when pulling the folded chair (btw, its great that the seat comes with 2 pull loops to make folding the seat easy) onto the front car seat ( I have a Buick with a front split bench seat, get in on the passenger side and then pull the chair onto the seat after I slide over to the driver side).

I especially like the quick-release rear wheel axles, which allow me to substitute my wheels with street tires (with flat-free inserts) for the too-narrow black tires that come with the chair. I hope one day Drive Medical makes flat-free street tires available with their chairs.

I’m not crazy about the adjustable armrests, and wish they would flip back further (so as to make transfers easier); and wish it came in colors other than black. Those minor quibbles aside, the Cruiser X4 is a great chair; easy to use, easy to fold and transport, sturdy yet lightweight, and gets my 66 y.

o. 275lb body around on a daily basis.

Front wheels were received loose; screw came out and chair tipped. Adjustment for depth of seat is horrible; velcro straps are too short. Lowest setting for arms height is high at lowest setting. Wheelchair came without instruction manual.

This is my third wheelchair. House-Basement.

This wheel chair is the best I have ever seen/used. It is easy to self propel. It is easy to get in and out of my car with ease. It is light in weight and if need be can be broken down. The arms legs and big back wheels come off with easy to use push click holders.

The seat is soft and low pressure (no pain). The chair folds up and is even easy to push when folded.

Hi… this her daughter, Rhonda. Mom is getting comfortable with her new chair. It certainly has power and great battery life. Our White Glove host spoke highly of the chair. He did send afew pictures ahead of time of Mars and Scratches but most were covered with other pieces.

Or not real visible to the eye so we decided to have him deliver it rather than return it. We did have to pay a local company, $75, to come and reprogram the chair for Moms to feel secure in moving about the Senior Residence.

Before she passed away, I’d bought a chair from a lady in town just like this one. That was 20 years ago. I was about to order a scooter when I saw this chair. I had to have it. I take it shopping and have bags I put things in that I hang on the back.

Works for me. It’s light enough to easily get in my truck with ramps I already had. And, I can manhandle the thing when I need to, I used to pull the batteries out of my late wife’s and stash it in the trunk of a Toyota echo.

I have trucks now. I can walk, use my legs, for a short while, so getting out of it to put in the truck and such isn’t a problem. I have a blood cancer known as “mylofibrosis” and am anemic, so I needed it to get around the store and such where I need to walk very far.

The chair fills my need. It also gets around the yard so long as it’s dry. I run it around the yard to trim around my trees after I mow with my tractor. That’s hard on me on foot. I also like the speed of this thing.

Some of those scooters run 4 mph max. This thing gets 10 mph, a good running speed. 😀 And, the battery charge lasts a long time.

The chair arrived damaged. the box was intact and when we opened the box a few weeks later, we found that the tires tilted inwards. Company was contacted and deferred our complaint to Drive. Waiting on a new chair.

I love how versatile this chair is and how comfy it is. Very sturdy and customizable really like this chair. Only thing I would change on this chair specifically instead of the handles flipping down flip side ways while still giving you the ability to fold the back down (which I love being able to do btw.

I guess I didn’t check the product description because the seat is way too high off the ground for me. I am 5’4 1/2 with long legs and without a cushion and the leg rests off, my feet just touch the floor.

With a cushion and no leg rests, my feet are quite a few inches off the ground. The leg rest make it very hard for me to maneuver around tight spaces in the house and due to my disease, having them on all the time is VERY uncomfortable; not having the leg rest on will definitely result in pressure ulcers for me because 2-3 inches of my legs above the knees hang off and yet my feet barely touch the ground.

So unfortunately, I have to return it. Anyway here are the pros and cons. Pros: Can be made compact for easy storage. Smooth ride, it just glides across everything with ease (well at least carpet, vinyl, and hardwood flooring.

Shock absorbers, which NONE of my previous chairs had. The tires seem thicker and more durable than my previous chairs. The seat has some cushion to it. Breaks seem really tight. It has a really attractive design.

Cons: Way too high off the ground. Seat is too short. Back is too short. Folding it is easy but unfolding it is hard (if you can’t use your legs). While it has more pros than cons, the cons are a deal breaker for me.

The combination of seat height from the floor and seat length is a complete contradiction and a huge design flaw (You need long legs to reach the floor and short legs to fit in the seat).

I am currently in a wheelchair and I ordered this wheelchair to have at home. I use one for work. I was barely able to get the heavy box in my front door, thank goodness my great grandson was here to help.

My daughter and her friend came to get the wheelchair out of the box, as it states in the item description, you only need to put the legs on! And in my case, I don’t use the legs, so no problem, right????? Wrong!!!!! The wheelchair was not assembled at all.

no instructions, no nothing!!! Had to put it together as best they could. Both sets of wheels and the arm rest!!! Really disappointed, and hope it stays together and it doesn’t fall apart with me in it!!!!.

The TR 16 is light weight and well designed and constructed of good material. It needed only minor assembly with tools supplied. However, one of the adjustments required a hex wrench that was not in the supplied tools.

The large wheel locks needed adjusting which was easy to do – good design. The screws on the lock for the small transport wheels were very loose on one side. When I tightened them the lock was impossible to use without bending.

It is either an engineering/design flaw or manufacturing defect. It was delivered with the loose component so it would lock, but using it like that would lead to failure. We are not using the chair as a transport at this time so it is not preventing use.

I called the Polyfly customer service contact number and explained the issue to the contact. He said he would check with technical support. While doing so, their phone system dropped my call. I called back and talked with another contact who could not help.

She took my phone number to pass to the first tech. I never got a call back. We are using the chair as a wheelchair only at this time. I will revise the wheel lock if we need to use it for transport.

The price from Walmart was excellent and delivery was fast and as promised.

This was exactly what we needed for my mom. A friend let us borrow her parents for a while and we decided to buy one for my mom. We got one that was bigger than our friends to give her some more room and its perfect.

Only difference is that this one is taller than our friends so we have to lay it sideways in my HHR instead of standing up. No big deal. Its a great addition to her regular wheel chair. Were able to have her get around more and its easier for her to get in and out of the car without having to go over the lg wheel and side arms.

Would recommend to anyone.

Very versatile with the interchangeable rear wheels. While not as light as other transport wheelchairs, it more than makes up for this deficit by its stability on uneven terrain and curbs with its big rear wheels.

Does not feel at all flimsy as some ultra light transport wheelchairs feel. Smaller wheels come in handy for tighter spaces to be navigated. Big rear wheels give the option for the user to self-propel.

It’s the best.

The chair folds easily and I would have rated it with 5 stars, but there are a few issues. The legs do not fold flat against the chair and they fall off when folded. Once they are attached and placed in the front, they work fine, but it is a challenge.

The paint comes off easily and the chair (only a month old) looks worn. The front tires, after a month, already show wear and he only uses this once or twice a week. There is also no traction on the front tires.

The handle in the back is attached with plastic and I dread the day that wears out. The battery has a long lasting charge, but I ordered an extra one and have yet to receive it. I also ordered a left handed control and received it attached to the right side.

The response of 1 800 wheelchair was for me to undo all the wires and reattach the control myself. I did after hours of working on it, but I paid for it to be placed on the right side. The wires are poorly attached to the frame now as this was all I could do with what I have.

I paid extra (500 dollars) to have it shipped quickly as we needed it right away. The chair arrived on time, but with the controls on the wrong side, which was never considered an issue for them. Just “fix it yourself” was the attitude.

They reimbursed 100 dollars, which did not begin to make up for the fact that we could not use it until I altered it and now it is terrible to look at with the hanging wires in the wrong place. The battery? We are still waiting for it with no ETA given.

If you can find this chair, or a better one, somewhere else, I would highly recommend another option to purchasing here.

It is lightweight and that’s why I bought it. But because it’s lightweight, it also has problems and folks need to be aware that using this chair under some conditions could be scary. I’m only 125 lbs so have no bulk to anchor the chair.

I hit several spots where a heavier chair would have not had a problem with such as bricked uneven accesses from street to sidewalk. Closer to home I have found that going downhill can be dangerous as I lose control and it won’t roll straight, like on my wheelchair ramp.

All that said? I am recommending it to my friends and fellow patients. I actually can get it into my backseat by myself which I wasn’t expecting. FREEDOM!.

After testing out many electric wheelchairs , I bought the featherweight for my 83 year old close friend doctor who has MS with one “dead” leg. He loves it and more importantly his doctor wife loves it because she does all the “heavy” lifting when they go to a restaurant or the park.

She loves how light weight it is and so easy to fold up. And put into the car. And for him, because it is stable and sturdy with flip up foot and arm rests he’s now able to transfer himself even with the dead leg without help from his lounger to the chair and back.

Being electric, he feels in control and free to effortlessly travel around his home, patio and deck. The tight turning radius and variable speeds makes it easy for him to maneuver inside and out.

I’ve only had it use a couple of days but it will give me mobility where I had none before. This wheelchair is very stable, can turn on a dime, easy to operate accurately – makes me feel SAFE. I purchased this model especially because of the high seat height and adjustable foot treadle (I am tall).

I will be using it as an office desk chair and be able to play my home organ besides some use to nearby neighborhood parks, stores, etc. Great investment for my life.

I live in a cottage in a senior village and unable to walk around. My electric wheelchair allows me to get any where in the village and take part in any activity that I want.

Buying a wheelchair is not a simple task. I researched several different brands and the way they were constructed. The materials used and the actual way they were put together. The comfort for the user and ease of operation are also a primary considerations.

McKessons wheelchair model 146-SSP220DDA-SF definitely met my expectations when making a choice of several brands. The 20 wide seat was also a part of my decision. I purchased this for my 91 year old father-in-law who was having great difficulty walking because of his knees being compromised as well as some breathing issues.

I highly recommend this wheelchair. Quality, comfort and construction are a consideration for my purchase.

This is a metal chair with plastic foot rests. I wish they were metal too, but overall this is a good wheelchair. My only real complaint is that the handrims and rear wheels are not spaced out enough from each other.

This means that when pushing yourself in this chair, your hands (on the handrims) rub against the actual wheel. My were raw after only a couple of days. If the person using the chair is always going to be pushed from behind by someone else, this won’t matter.

Overall construction is sturdy.

It has a comfortable wide seat with additional back support cushion. Nice wheelchair!

It was time for me to replace my old wheelchair. I wasn’t sure what to look for because I’ve had mine forever. The staff did a great job in selecting this wheelchair for me. It’s a perfect match. I love it.

I’m 6’2″ 300lbs semi functioning MS warrior. The chair is very maneuverable in tight spots has no issues pulling me around all day. Its biggest issue for me is its weight.

This product truly is a life saver. – I can now go places that I wasn’t able to go previously. Even better quality than I expected. And learning the joy stick control took a couple of days to get used to.

The only problem I had was getting use to the rear wheels stick out about 3 inches in back when turning. That just maybe though as I had an electric wheelchair, a different brand and I may have been use to different dimensions.

My friend had surgery to repair her Achilles Tendon and is non-weight bearing for 10 weeks. This wheelchair is great and easy to maneuver and get into tight places. It turns easily. It is very sturdy.

I am a below the knee amputee with back issues and cannot walk too far. Range and ease of operation. My Titan power chair is awesome. It let’s me have the mobility that was lost.

So far, so good. This is our 2nd EZ Lite Cruiser, and it’s so nice to have a lightweight wheelchair to bring to homes that aren’t’ accessible. My son has friends he likes to visit and this chair makes that a possibility.

We really like the design of this chair in terms of it’s ability to be easily transported. We use it almost exclusively for indoor use–if one is expecting this to be a full-time / largely outdoor chair, you’re probably going to have problems with tread & sliding.

But for our purposes (my son has a different chair for outdoor/school use) it works very well. There are 2 reasons that this wasn’t 5-stars. First, and most importantly, the older model had a very easily accessible lever to lift the arms on either side of the chair.

This lever was easily/conveniently located directly underneath where one’s arms rest on the chair-arms. This newer model does not & the levers to push are way down on the side/base of the seat & thusly, my son is unable to push them and lift/lower the arms on his own (as he was with the previous model).

Any bit of independence is huge for disabled people and it is unfortunate that he no longer has this with this aspect of the chair. I feel that often times such equipment is made in mind for a very small group of disabled and not for the entire range of individuals who would need assistive technology.

My son has neuromuscular disease, not just paraplegia or age related motor declines, so is unable to use this equipment fully himself as he was the previous EZ Lite model we owned. The second aspect that was frustrating was the boxing of this item–the first time we bought this chair, it wasn’t shipped all the way from China, so we received it faster & with way more accessible packaging.

I’m lucky I have a crow-bar at home, but even so, the amount of time & effort that I had to put into getting this chair out of the “nailed shut/all the way around-thick-wood” box was excessive. Definitely not user-friendly or in any way handicap accessible in terms of the packaging.

Something this difficult should come with special tools & instructions with the packing material sealed to the outside of the shipping box.

My wide is a wheelchair bound person and we purchased a chair a couple of years ago. We live in a rural area and initially placed an order for the deluxe chair with 10 in wheels. but when I checked the dimensions it was an in or so wider than standard model.

and much lighter. We decided that this would be best in the house and limited use outside. It has worked out great! My wife si able to navigate the house and in those tight spaces through doors etc. We also just fold the chair and take it with us everywhere.

to Walmart, motels, rest areas. I just open lift and unfold the chair at all these areas. The smaller wheels do slip on the carpet and in the grass. so she needs to rock left and right sometimes to get traction.

I also bought the programmer to so it down a little, and the back push bars, but haven’t really used them. I usually push my wife through parking lots its and hen engage the motors at the store entrances.

With all the use, our chair needs tightening at the folding points frequently, and the plastic separation washers failed resulting in aluminum to aluminum contact. so I installed some stainless steel washers.

working great. Our battery failed after about one year and was replaced free of charge. We are now going to purchase a second deluxe 12 in chair for use outside. and in maybe the maybe car. This is a trade off.

the standard model is great. easy to lift small etc. but a little too small for the rough ground (i. e. about one acre of field grass). and the deluxe weighs much more. maybe beyond the limits of a 70 year old man.

? We are buying our second but really need three; a standard in the car, a standard in the house, and that deluxe 12 in the yard.

My 91 yr old mother purchased this chair and it turned out to be the wrong chair for her. The chair looks great but it is much too powerful for my mother’s use and in fact in scared her to use it. The less powerful scooter we found turned out to be the right thing for her.

We bought the EZ Lite in part because it came with a return guarantee. We returned the chair within EZ Lites requirements and did not get a refund for over 3 months (we got the refund today). Getting the refund took many calls from me (more then 4).

At two month after I returned it EZ Lite told me they still had not checked my return into the warehouse although they could see they had the chair. They told me at least 3 times they were going to process my refund “today” and never did.

Today after I insisted on staying the phone until the refund was processed they did process for 90% of the purchase price. They sent pictures showing a damaged chair although I know the chair did not look like that when it left my house (3 months ago).

When I tried to call back to make my case that after seeing the pictures the chair was damaged but the chair was not damaged during the brief period it was in my house, perhaps it was damaged during the 3 months it was in their warehouse, I was not able to have that conversation, because they blocked my number.

If the guaranteed return policy is part of your buying decision my experience with EZ Lite was very disappointing on that count. Also I think the chair is a quality product but not the right choice for a advanced in age senior citizen.

A very good product! I was looking a great chair to get me from the house to the car, then I found this for just over two hundred and decided to give it a go and was not disappointed. I’m at the top end of its weight capacity but it holds me fine, I wouldn’t use it for long distances but for what I need its great.

We were bringing my home wheelchair when I had doctors appointments. Then my husband hurt his back and couldn’t lift chair in and out of car. Most of the chairs at doctors offices are in very bad shape and most impossible to use without difficulty.

I found the Hybrid 2 transport wheelchair as I was scanning the internet. I felt this might be our solution. I am so glad we bought this wheelchair as it has been terrific and it solved our problems.

My first impression was WOW, it is ‘stealth’ I wheeled up in my wife and surprised her, she couldn’t here me pull By up to her. Super quite! I mean absolutely NOT one noise whatsoever! That’s amazing.

And, I was surprised how easy it was to move around, like butter almost effortless to move it. I am 6’ tall 212 lbs. I was unsure if I would fit in the 18” wide but no problem. My last chair was a medlibe 22” wide but not the hybrid.

I lost 48 pounds which is why I am downsizing. One point also to make is we really love me the ‘quick’ release wheels! If you ever need the space in a small trunk. A push on the center button of the wheel and it pops right off and super easy to pop right back to on.

Many chairs have permanent wheels! No good! Get a chair with quick release wheels! Now the bad, the silver handles in the picture are super smooth so it is difficult to grip!!! I had to buy rubber tubing to put around wheel handle to be able to grip.

Also, the silver gets super cold to the touch quickly. The braking system is not the best. They have other chairs that have a better breaking system. The standard brakes on other Medline chairs have a flat bar that compressed into the wheel.

These have a knurled round bar that is worthless, it doesn’t stop the Chair just slows it. They are not defective just not the best design.

We like this convertible wheelchair. The large wheels are easily removed for narrow places. Very light weight but is sturdy and well made. Folds to small, light configuration to fit in trunk or small vehicle.

This is a far superior chair to the weightier one issued to us by the VA which gradually fell apart over the last 5. 5 years. Happy, happy, happy with this purchase. My husband’s therapists really liked it as well.

Husband says it is more comfortable also.
