20 Best Whiskey For Thanksgiving (2022 Updated)

Great bourbon for the price point. I get the 1. 75L for around $58-64. It’s an interesting bourbon when you break it down with notes of dried fruit, maybe agave and/or plum, cinnamon, black pepper and charred oak.

It becomes more interesting when the heat of early summer in the Mid-Atlantic warms ut a few degrees. Then it’s nose and palette are full of dried fruit, moreso agave flavor and smell. EC is great for the regular, budget-minded bourbon snob.

For a reference point, it’s kind of like Larceny but fuller and richer, and with less burn. Special sidebar note: If your budget is more Larceny than EC, just put a couple drops of water in it and it becomes EC extra lite.

It took me a little over twenty years to find my “number one”. That “go to brand” that I don’t even have to think twice about when I’m shopping to restock my liquor cabinet. I became loyal to the brand about thirteen years ago.

I was a bit disappointed when the 12 year old became a blend of 8 to 12 year old but for the same price with only just a bit more bite I’m still a happy camper. Besides, as that was due to the brand becoming so popular that they had to start making a blend using lesser aged, what does that tell you? It’s sippin’ whiskey.

Goes so well with a cola, ginger ale, or an ice tea as a back. You can spend more money but unless it’s a pretense to impress someone that thinks money is the be all, and end all, of existence you”ll find that there’s little, if anything, to be gained form doing so.

I really can’t say enough about this bourbon. I’m far from an expert on good bourbon, but I know when it’s good and bad. I’ve had fair but cheap (Evan Williams), good (Elijah Craig), pretty good, but so smooth it didn’t seem like bourbon (Four Roses)and decent but not great (Old Forrester).

Longbranch is full-bodied and smooth, but you know you’re drinking bourbon. Unlike Evan Williams or Four Roses, it has a nice mouth feel and you know you’re drinking bourbon. It also has a burn at the end, but unlike Old Forrester, it isn’t harsh and almost like drinking ethanol.

It has a really good balance. It’s spicy and sweet but really very well balanced overall. While the price point is about $40, it’s worth it to splurge for a good bourbon. I’m sure there are better bourbons out there, and Evan Williams at 1/4 of the price is okay, but sometimes you want something that makes you feel like you’re drinking a high-end bourbon at a reasonable price.

This is it. I haven’t had Pappy, but I’ve had Weller. It was good, but I wasn’t super impressed. I’m very impressed with this regardless of the celebrity attached to it. Yes, McConaughey is the face of it, and if he brings you to it, great.

But I didn’t rate this based on that. I rated it based on taste. They did a great job and it’s worth a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Simply amazing. However, I will start with Cons: aroma/nose is not impressive; if you are looking for a classical Wild Turkey “bourbon kick” – it is not there. Pros: it is absolutely delicious – sweet like nothing else, almost too sweet.

Charcoal (mesquite?) is, theoretically, smoothing the taste. It is not always true, but very true in this case. Smoothest bourbon I ever tasted. I cannot think of a better bourbon if you want to introduce your non-bourbon friend (or any lady :-)) to the world of bourbon.

I will always have a bottle from now on.

I think they messed up by proofing this so low. There’s no mesquite character to it at all, and not enough flavor at 86 proof. At nearly 40 dollars a bottle there are dozens of options that have more flavor, more kick, and a longer finish than this.

Wild Turkey 101 is WAY better, and nearly half the price. Russel’s Reserve is better an cheaper as well. Don’t bother with this one.

Just the last few years I’ve gotten into whiskey and bourbon even some scotch. More of a whiskey bourbon drinker tried several always trying different brand names and batches. Like knob Creek from the beginning and I always seem to come back to it.

The aroma and flavor is fantastic and smells like Maple and oak but does not have a sweet taste which I prefer. Being a hundred proof it has just a little bit more warming sensation going down in a great aftertaste.

Never use that as a mixer it’s too good of whiskey. This is a whiskey best enjoyed smelling and sipping not drink, mix, or do shots of. enjoy pouring a couple shots swirl and smell it for about 5 minutes before sipping.

Try to make it last at least 30 minutes. It’s a great nightcap!.

Bright, bold & spicy – I did a head-to-head of 5 or 6 whiskeys I considered cheap enough to use as cocktail mixers, and this came out on top. The only thing I have that comes close for the money is Rittenhouse Rye.

I give the KC9 the edge over the Rittenhouse, *and* if you buy the 1. 75L it’s cheaper per ounce. I particularly love KC9 in cocktails where the whiskey is the main attraction, like an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Boulevardier (aka “Negroni with whiskey instead of gin”) — its bold spiciness and relatively high proof enhance those cocktails, vs.

many whiskeys in my runoff (ex. Bulleit, Elijah Craig SB, Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams BiB) that mostly disappear into the background. An aside: of those I just listed, the EW BiB is the only one I consider worthy of sipping neat.

That’s an even better value I always keep in stock. I just don’t use it for mixing, it’s more of a good “daily drinker” at a substantially lower price point than this KC9. Back to the Knob Creek 9yr: I get caramel apple, floral & nutty notes, plus black pepper & cinnamon that carry through to a long finish.

The bold, intense flavor holds up well to ice, or when I’m in the right mood I’ll nurse it neat for some spicy drama. My “price-blind” score for this would be ~4 stars (mostly because I’m rarely in the mood to drink it neat instead of in a cocktail), but it easily jumps up to 5 stars when I factor in the price.

Highly recommended. at some point I’ll try the higher priced Knob Creek offerings, but IMO you just can’t beat this @ the 1. 75L price.

This is my favorite non-special occasion bourbon. I find it to be a little sweeter than most bourbons, but i do not find it to be cloyingly so. In my opinion that little extra sweetness sort of helps flavors of the bourbon come through more.

The most notable flavor I get is caramel. I’m not going to pretend that I get several other flavors; I do, in the sense that there is a lot going on with this bourbon, but nothing I can identify apart from some peppery notes on the back end.

It’s not exceptionally smooth, especially considering it is 100 proof, but I find it quite drinkable. I like mine neat, without ice. Anyway, definitely worth a try if you’ve never had it before.

I received this as a gift a few weeks ago and decided my 60th birthday would be a great day to treat myself to a glass. Wow, what an incredibly smooth and complex flavor this vintage has and so enhanced by the rum cask finish.

Excellent part of their core. I’ve never had a bad dram from them, but some are exceptional. The 21 YO is brilliant. The glasses are a nice add.

I bought this for my husband who is a whiskey/scotch collector and he LOVES it! It’s his new favorite and I don’t usually drink alcohol, but even I enjoyed sipping on this after dinner! So smooth and delicious yet subtle flavors that surprised me.

We will always have a bottle around from now on!.

If I could rate the review any lower than one I would! Ok! I order a bottle of Blantons Bourbon which would normally cost approximately $59. 99. I expected to pay more due to the demand of the product.

So, I paid over $200. 00 for a bottle that I thought I was going to get by Thanksgiving. Well, that fell through. I called several times and spoke with one of your representatives and was promised that it was on its way by LSO.

They explained that they only ship out the Thursday after making the order. I ordered it on November 20, 2021. That Thursday would have been the 25th. Ok! I get that it was Thanksgiving day. But, what about shipping it out on the next day the 26th? After making several call to your company and Budget bottle promising that it had indeed been shipped by LSO.

Well, I called LSO and gave them my tracking number and the lady at LSO says that they have never taken possession of the item!!!!. smh:( WOW! Is this the way that you always do business? No Thank you! I will also report it to BBB.

My husband was thrilled when he opened it. He’s wanted to try it for a while but he doesn’t usually spend that much on his bourbon. He opened it right away to try and thought it was very tasty! I do want to let you know,though,that it was leaking when we got it.

It was wrapped very well, but there was a divot in the cork and don’t know if that was responsible for the leak. We didn’t lose very much of the bourbon, but didn’t know if the corks were checked at all before using.

Very excited to try this. Even more excited when I found a bottle local! It smells like nail polish remover. A floral nail polish remover. It is thin. Slightly alcohol-y but still “smooth”. I literally had no tasting notes jump out.

It’s very boring. I’ll drink the bottle. I’ve definitely had worse but for $50+ / bottle I can get a lot better. Pass.

I just bought a 75 dollar bottle of heavens door and it was trash compared to the 45 dollar knob creek. Honestly the 1 star reviews seem a bit harsh. I saw someone compare buffalo trace? Well sure buffalo is different, but you cant always find that.

this bottle of alcohol won an award in 2016 for international competition with spirit. So thats something.

For people using it as a mixing bourbon, its full flavor mixes well without losing many of the bourbon’s characteristics, and it’s probably priced right around the max of what they want to spend.

As a sipper, no matter what experience you may have drinking whiskey straight, anyone can enjoy drinking this one. The quality and flavor of Buffalo Trace is always far better than you’d expect from a $25 bottle of bourbon.

Our State Liquor Stores( yes we still have State control of liquor here in PA) were completely sold out and I knew I wanted to try some. So I placed an order with Caskers. The bottle arrived well packed and in short order.

After trying several other brands and then the Buffalo Trace, I can tell you that this bourbon is currently my favorite to sip neat or on the rocks. It is an exceptionally smooth bourbon. If you haven’t yet, give this a try.

In terms of flavor, it’s fantastic! On the rocks, this is a great drink. However, you performed admirably in terms of shipping! It was a race against time, with less than a week till Christmas. I wanted two bottles of Buffalo Trace for stockings for my son-in-laws, but no one in town had any! So I though, what the heck, I’ll give it a shot.

I’ve ordered from Liquor Mates before and they’ve always been fantastic. The order was placed on the Saturday before Christmas, and the box arrived two days later! AMAZING!!! I’ll be a loyal customer for life!.

Northern Harvest Rye has a clear, light tan appearance, with standard alcohol legs. The aroma is of spicy, mentholated grain, with some yeasty funk. The flavor is of similarly spiced and mentholated grains.

Northern Harvest Rye has a medium body and a low-medium finish. RJT.

Crown is great with Dr pepper or even by its self. It doesnt matter what flavor of crown you get they are all amazing and the best is the original with Dr pepper cream soda if you havent tried it you definitely need to.

But that isnt just it you can make all types of different drinks with crown and thats all there is to it. Im actually drink crown as I right this review so there ya go.

This is a great winter whisky. Cinnamon and mint form a beautiful relationship as they meet fine cedar and herbal notes. It has a tingly, but a gentle mouth feel and the vanilla and cinnamon is a real sweet treat.

More for the elegant whisky drinker, this should be added to any cocktail that calls for a rye.

We get together and taste Scotch. Distilled in Scotland Scotch. So I bought the Yamazaki for fun. $125. 00. From off the hard to get shelf. Thinking the Japanese make good cars so this must be good Single malt whisky.

Nah! Just whiskey. All present [4] agreed. Very disappointing. But our Prius is still good.

Incredible taste and strong explosion like a bomb in your mouth but. smoothness in the end. That was my experience of the 2018 release edition. Not the best whisky in the planet for me but i just love it.

I knew the Yamazaki back in 2016 when I was travelling to Japan. I brought home a bottle, and felt in love with it. This whiskey is rare and becoming difficult to buy here in Australia as it is becoming very popular internationally.

The price is a bit steep for a 700ml – but worth every drop. Totally recommend this.
