18 Best Whiskey Gift Set (2022 Updated)

I thought I needed to try the glencairn to get the full experience with my whiskey tastings… For forever I was dead set against it cause I instantly think old lady with a deep whiskey smokers voice when I look at them.

:Also, I like to smell my whiskey while I drink so I wondered how that would happen with the small top opening and tapered top edge/rim. I received them and poured a little Eagle Rare because it’s been a long time favorite of mine.

I tried to get my nose in there to get the aroma as I tasted and it didn’t work. It was either taste it or smell it. : no chance of doing both at the same time. Ok…. Whatever, moving on. I tilted the glass and enjoyed my first sip of Eagle….

And the next. At the end I had to tip it way up amd tilt my head back as it rounded the curve of the glass to get to the top…. I don’t leave a drop. I then caught a glimpse of myself holding a glencairn in the window and cringed.

I mean…. WHY? If you have any type of good whiskey don’t you want to get the full experience? I’d drink out of an ugly old lady glass of it added to the experience but it does the opposite! There is nothing good that comes from these glasses.

I like my double walled Norlans and Bentleys far more. They are light weight and break easily (especially the Norlans) but they are so much better than these. I’d even use a double old fashioned glass before I would ever use one of these.

I don’t get it.

I had liked the Glencairn Whisky ( English Spelling) for some time. I never got around to buying them until I accidentally broke most of a set of 4 inexpensive cordial glasses. For those of you who appreciate the taste of whisky, the rounded bowl sits comfortably in your hand to warm the whisky ever so slightly, and the tapered chimney enhances the bouquet of single malts.

I have 4 of them which sit on a small corner table, above a crystal ice bucket and single old fashioned glasses for the ice water accompaniment. I would suppose they are of average durability.

How on earth are these glasses rated so highly?! The images display clear Glencairns. The description states “Color: clear. ” Sure, the title ends with the easily dismissed “(black),” but who would imagine, given all the other indications, and simple common sense, that you’d be purchasing BLACK glasses?! One of the primary elements of any whiskey tasting is color.

How does one note the color of the liquid with an opaque, black glass?!?.

The decanter and glasses are certainly robust and practical and do their job. However, although the glasses look to be of reasonable quality, the decanter itself looks anything but stylish. It has a plastic collar on the stopper and the glass design looks rather unfinished.

The glasses in this set are nice. The decanter is as cheap as I have ever seen. Does not even sit flat and the seams are not ground at all and stick out like a sore thumb. Do yourself a favor like I should have, spend a minimum of $50 for a glass decanter.

This glass decanter with six glasses look stylish. While there is a plastic seal around the stopper it does not detract from the product and it has pride of place in a display cabinet in my lounge.

I received this set as a gift and have sampled whisky both cold and at room temperature. I’ve used 2 small cubes of ice. I’ve used an eye dropper to “open up” the palate of the whisky. I have only had whisky over ice a few times and have found cold to be the enemy of flavor.

This glass is great at room temperature for the nose and as well for the palate and it has reinforced my love of scotch.

If you buy into this garbage, I’ll seel ya bridge you will LOVE. Don’t get mw wrong, this is a very nice take on the classic Tulip design. And, the chilling base is different if you need that. But this glass does NOTHING for the spirit, beyond the character of the basic tulip shape.

I kind of like this glass, except for the logo. I don’t do any logo-ware in my establishment. Don’t be duped by marketing and flat out lies. It’s a nice enough looking glass. If you like it, buy it because you like it.

And not because it’s “designed for the subtleties of the spirit. That’s total malarkey.

The cooling disc goes into the freezer and then you set the glass on top. No melted ice cubes or whiskey stones which can be awkward to drink around. And it’s a much finer glass with a polished rim so it feels special.

It really works like it says and cuts down the alchohol taste while enhancing the flavors.

They looks really beautiful on my counter. It looks like high quality and the price was very very reasonable

I got this set as a gift for my boyfriend and I’d say he genuinely enjoys it! The cup is really nice and he really likes the metal ice cube dice! He also thought the tongs was a really cool addition which I agree as well! It came in a nice box set and had a cute velvet bag for the ice cubes to go in when they’re not being used in the freezer! All in all I think its a really cute set and he liked it alot as well!.

This jack of spades whiskey glass and accessories set is so nice. The glass is high quality and so neat looking! The cards are super thick qnd durable. The little tongs are too cute. The silver cubes are nice and keep the drink nice and old for a long time! It comes in a really nice case too! Im impressed!.

This is a great kit, It feels So personalized everything about it is great quality. Especially the glass, it feels like you’re almost at a five-star restaurant enjoying a whiskey. The cards complete the kit.

Number Seven, Jack Black, or just Jack Daniel’s; I’ve never heard it called Jack Daniel’s Black. Jack Daniel’s is a classic, and almost in it’s own category. Stars are subjective- this is NOT a top-of-the-line-hand-crafted-small-batch-organically-sourced-artisinal-bourbon.

But it IS an Excellent value for taste vs price. It’s an affordable and good quality choice for regular consumption. It is flexible- sips well (especially over ice), and is priced at a point you don’t feel like you are “wasting” it when mixing into cola.

The nose is a little vanilla pepper; an initial bite that mellows quickly to reveal a bit of toffee/caramel. I also heard someone say that it tastes like paint stripper- but this is my review, and I like it.

All Kentucky liquor is off my shopping list: Tennessee whiskey is my go-to. Uncle Nearest & George Dickle (9YO Single Barrel!!) are indeed “better/more complex” choices, but come at a noticeably higher price.

When you are looking for smooth, delicious, whiskey drink, guys, grab a bottle of Jack Daniels old #7. I have enjoyed several whiskeys to get the perfect drink of choice for me, and nothing, nothing, I’ll repeat again, nothing beats the finest Tennessee whiskey, Jack Daniels.

His name is big because it’s the good stuff. I’m not an alcoholic, in fact I don’t drink often, handful of times a year I’ll enjoy a couple of drinks in an adult fashion. Jack is always my go to choice.

Jack Daniels used to be all the rage when I was younger. But as time goes on you realise it’s not the most special drink in the world. It’s a typical American whisky. Would be a bourbon but I don’t believe it’s made in the right state.

If only they tried to do something different. I guess they do have there charcoal filtering but that’s about it really. Nothing special, can probably find the same quality of drink for cheaper else where.

I’ve been close to John since I could first put a glass to my lips. maybe it was because it was Frank Sinatra’s drink of choice but whatever I acquired a taste for Jack and its never let me down. Straight, on the rocks or with a mixer it never disappoints, although some find it has a little after taste I find it smooth and mellow throughout.

It’s a wonderful pre dinner or post dinner drink and it goes well all alone on its own at the end of a good evening. Salute !.

I bought it based off of the many reviews praising this liquid. Unfortunately it’s only barley worth the ~$20 I paid. My Benchmark for any double oak is Woodford’s Reserve and this is not even close to that fine nectar.

To be fair the second tasting, closely following the first was not as offensive as the initial shock of the first sips. On the nose, this bright and spikey with hints of methanol, perhaps spearmint if you have a good imagination.

On the pallet, the frontend it over charred oak and the afterburner is a heavy mix of of something almost unnatural. Pros: Inexpensive – AKA cheap No afterburn Cons: Too much alcohol taste No true notes of flavor.

I am hoping that a (5) FIVE STAR rating is Excellent / Best not the worst. LOL -☺☺ My sweet tooth “sippin” liquor of preference is a brand that can relate to royalty and has a green label and BAG. I had a sample of Jim Beam Honey Bourbon Whiskey from a friend of mine and OMG !!! I was amazed at the taste, the smooth warm flow on the pallet, the taste buds exploded, and I savored the flavor.

I had to go and get a bottle. Not a question about it. I now have that on my list as a favorite. In “MY” humble opinion, Jim Beam Honey Bourbon Whiskey is a “Home Run” to a baseball player, a “Hole-in-One” to a golfer, a “300 Game” to a bowler, a “No Hitter” to a pitcher, a “Royal Flush” to a poker player, a “Jackpot” to a slot machine player, and last but not least – an “ACE” serve to a tennis player.

I am very impressed. I love the smell of the sweetness. A long slow “sniff” with your eyes closed is so soothing to my inner soul. Then, a smooth pour in a “sippin” glass is such a reward and just a wonderful kicked back feeling, like a man out of debt.

I am not a $$$ buyer. I do enjoy the extremes of straight whiskeys all kinds. What I do know is that I like honey bourbons with a some water for a perfect low cost taste of a sweetness with some whiskey/boubon “hype” with a cigar or with popcorn.

The Jim Beam Honey Bourbon, when it fits my pocket book at the lowest price, which is what did this time Total, is just fine. Price , at least to me, do not add up to the best and that goes for whiskey, wine and cigars.

I bought this on a whim being at a price I could just stop drinking and hand over to someone else. I was pleasantly surprised. Having not had a whisky single malt in a while first sip was slightly harsh, after that was as smooth as.

Hasn’t happened again. I drink my scotches neat, no ice, no water.

Nice fruity nose. Also, the empty glass fills the room with a beautiful fruity and honey-sweet aroma. I’d love to know what this would taste like at 43% ABV or higher. I suppose 40% helps keep it at this price point.

I’ll just say that at this price I’m happy enough with it to keep a bottle around.

From someone who enjoys a broad range of scotches, and always looks for the positive, this proved a challenge. The texture is not smooth. The flavor is not “smooth” – The flavor sits on the tongue and prickles with various flavors.

Very little to enjoy here.

After a trying day at work, fighting traffic and making the mistake of reading the paper, I come home, take my shoes off and turn to my calming effects. 12 year old Glenlivet: two fingers in a crystal glass and two ice cubes.

Sit down and sip it, slowly. Feeling the warmth as it trickles down my throat. The world calms down and my insides enjoy and relax. It’s Job Well Done.

It is the only scotch, or hard liquor I drink. My parents introduced it to me over 40 years ago. I drink it straight; with a tiny trickle of water. It’s goes down smooth and warm. I’ve introduced it to many friends who say they don’t like scotch, they are now the glenlivet drinkers.

i started drinking scotch in 1990 on a trip to Scotland and the 12 year old was one of the first I sampled. It’s been my favorite ever since. Neat, three fingers, nothing better. a few drops of water to enhance the bouquet.

Great price for a single malt too. I hope to be drinking it for years to come!.

I’m not usually into the movie/tv promotion gimmick branding, but I’m glad I took the chance on this one. This has a bit more heft than plain ol Bushmills. on the nose it was a bit light, but from there it only gets better, a nice true Irish malty coating on the tongue without any discernible alcohol bite, from there it has a very smooth vanilla finish which leaves a creamy like after taste that could be described as dessert.

If you like Irish whiskey, give it a try, the price is reasonable and if you don’t like it, you can send it to me. LOL.

I found this preferable to the 10 year which is absolute bollocks in my opinion. This has added complexity with the Sherry and oak combination. Honeyed cereal in the forefront but with an edge from the youthness of the dram.

Finish is satisfyingly sweet with a bite from the oak after a few seconds. It’s quite nice. This makes me wanna give Bushmills another chance especially the older range like the 21. 83/100.

Hefty dram similar to Powers John’s Lane “like airplane glue but in a good way” (to quote another reviewer) without the sherry finish. If you like Powers gold or 12 yr. , this is comparable. Barley, cereal, honey, butter, and.

I am hooked on Black Label 12 yrs with its own unique taste and aroma ! I am a long time Ballantine drinker , I still drink Ballantine ! Now I enjoy both the Black Label 12 Yrs and the Ballantine! I like it when ASDA, from time to time genuinely cut the price of 70cc Black Label 12 Yrs from £30 a bottle to £20 per bottle ! That is a significant amount of saving encourages me to buy 5 bottles at a time! ! So price is worth waiting for ! I will but it again !.

The name sounds cool. But this is an average at best scotch. Nothing complex. Very thin. An aftertaste that falls apart. There is a world of great scotch out there and this is far from one. I’m f you want a blend, it’s time to go over to compass box.

Go with JW green if you need to. Blue is bought to impress someone.

On the nose it is peaty, peppery and citrusy. On the palate rich with oaky, peaty, citrusy and spicy nuances. Finish is long with peaty, fruity and caramel notes. It is one of the best 12 year old blended whiskies in the world and my personal favorite.

However it does not smell and taste as it used be around 10 to 15 years ago. I think they use less Talisker in the composition now as the whisky is much less peaty. In addition the manufacturers seemed to have used older whiskies in the blend earlier as Black Label always felt like as if it were more matured than 12 years.

But now the company have Green Label which is 15 years old vatted malt without any grain whisky in the blend. I think it is the reason more matured malts now go to the Green Label. However good whisky Black Label can be it is still distiguishable that it is not exactly what it used to be.

Still I personally love it and think it deserves its reputation.

I only purchased this because it was advertised as being able to personalise with engraving !! When it arrived at first I thought it hadn’t been engraved. Then I found a minuscule engraving right at the very bottom.

Wasn’t worth having ! They would not take it back , just gave me money off ! Highly unsatisfactory !.

Being Covid positive until Christmas Day ordered as a gift. Picture clearly shows a box. Bottled arrived on its own – no box and with a white sticker on it. Had I known there would be no box I would have ordered a bottle bag to go with it.

As there are no other slots prior to Christmas I need to keep it!.

First I have to say the aroma of this, sniffing it off the top, is exceptional. (If I were judging this by just the smell alone I’d immediately give it 5 stars out of 5) The actual flavor tastes just a little bit diluted and watery, and also has kind of an oily feeling (not necessarily in a good or bad way).

It has some mild deepness to the aroma, and just a slight tinge of hazelnut carmellic feeling. This isn’t too bad. It has a little bit of the feel of wood varnish (I don’t mean for that to sound bad).

I tasted this next to four other whiskeys of the same price, and it tastes remarkably similar to Jameson. They go through a very similar barreling for this one so it makes sense. If you like Jameson, you’ll like this, and Ive even seen it cheaper in some places.

Out of Bushmills Black, red and white I put it in the middle. Not as harsh as the black but not as smooth as the white. I’ll drink it but prefer Tullamore Dew and Jameson.

Jameson Triple Distilled is an indictment of the Whiskey Industry and the consumer’s willingness to be led by popular opinion instead of their own flavor journey. I will never say that it’s a bad whiskey.

But I will also never be heard saying that it is anything approaching great – or even good! Just read the reviews here – it is indicative of the kind of people who enjoy Jameson. Soulless and hardly helpful.

People say it’s ‘smooth’ and ‘easy drinking’. the same can be said for WATER. Ask them what can be found on the nose – they won’t be able to distinguish any discernable notes worth mentioning. Ask them what is to be discovered on the pallet – and there’ll be less information forthcoming than the nose.

For the asking price, or cheaper, I can mention at least 5 whiskies that offer a better drinking experience. The Pogues. Aerstone – Sea Cask, Tamnavulin and Tullamore D. E. W. even William Lawsons, Paddy and Bells offer a more exciting tasting experience than the pricier Jameson.

I have given it all the attention it deserves and have come to the conclusion that it is simply not my idea of a good whiskey. I am happy for those who enjoy it and swear by it but I’m sure they are the kind of people that cannot hold a conversation beyond wats happening with their favorite Premier League Soccer team.

As a Kentuckian, bourbon is our pride and joy, so there’s a bias when it comes to other American whiskeys, or other international liquors. Scotch whiskey – still haven’t tried. But one St. Patrick’s Day I decided to do an Irish stew; since I’m not a Guinness fan, I went with one recipe containing Irish Whiskey and decided this was my chance to try Jamieson.

So I ended up trying the brand three different ways. And I was hooked! First, as far as the stew, it was an addition that kicked up the flavor a bit without overwhelming the meat, the vegetables or the base.

Next I went with a cocktail: Irish Lemonade and an Irish Paloma, and the mellowness of the Whiskey came through, the vanilla and nuttiness playing off the citrus. It wasn’t overly potent. Everything was balanced.

Finally came trying it straight, the real test, and this is when I became a fan. It’s as described: very smooth on the tongue, smooth going down and none of the burning. I didn’t taste a lot of the spice, but the nuts and vanilla were present but evened out each other.

It was something I could sip in the evenings, straight or on the rocks. So three different ways to use Jameson’s, each of them wonderful. I don’t buy it enough and I need to. It’s not only for St. Patrick’s Day.

I was first introduced to Jameson when I was going to school at Arizona Automotive Institute back in 2004. A classmate asked me for a ride home and offered me a glass of 50/50 blend of Jameson and Cola.

It was at that point that I knew Jameson was something special. It wasn’t until 2018 that I made the switch to just Jameson Irish Whiskey. I’ve always been a whiskey man but leaned toward cheaper varieties due to financial hardships.

My favorite way to enjoy Jameson is mixed with Cherry Coke Zero. There is just something with that combination that I enjoy so much. Jameson is such a smooth drink that you hardly notice it when it is mixed with something.

It is also a great social shot drink as well, with barely any bite at the end. My basement bar will always have a bottle of Jameson for me to enjoy and share with others.

Great if you are a fan of highland whisky. The info is wrong, you only get 4 x 50mL small bottles, enough for a dram of each but you really get to know the portfolio of what Glenmorangie has to offer without spending a ton.

I the box could be a bit better but it makes for a good gift for anyone who is into scotch. I will give you my impressions of the four inside: The Lasanta (Sherry Cask Finish) – very good and sweet, not as sweet and not smoky at all.

The Quinta Ruban (Port Cask Finish) – sweeter than the Lasanta but has a nice finish. Not my favorite but good notes of fruits in the end. The Nectar d’Or (Sauternes Cask) – has honey sweetness but to me it has some kind of harash finish.

I think if it was 15 years it would be better Original – Best one of them all, no additional flavourings needed. My Fav!.

It’s the 2018 Sampler and doesn’t match the current virtual tasting. The Scotch was good, but you only get 50% of the benefits of the lecture as only 2 of the bottles matched. Still a great gift, but fails if you’re doing the virtual tasting.

I think sampler pack is a great way to taste the product without buying the full size bottle. Wish all and higher end offerings would be readily available in taster size. I am somewhat hesitant to spend a few hundred bucks on a bottle of spirit that I never tried before.

As of Glenmorangie, I didn’t really like any of those. The Glenmorangie Original is the best out of all four, but I am not a big fun of it either. Will stick to my all time favorite brands: Glenlivet, Highland Park and Glenfiddich.

I was drinking scotch. A friend, who plays live music in taverns, told me he likes to sip Jameson while playing live onstage. I decided to try some. I was pleasantly surprised. I get no “shiver factor” at all from Jameson.

I can detect the grains and several other flavors. Two drinks is very relaxing. I find that i love writing songs on my guitar during and after the second dram. Another aspect i enjoy is the knowledge that this is such an old spirit recipe.

I can see in my mind’s eye old time sailors sipping Jameson before bunk time and after meals. The care and effort that goes into Jameson Irish Whiskeys is a tribute to centuries of quality spirit making to the highest standards.

I tip my Irish woolen cap to the brewers, distillers, and shipping departments at the still house. Gártha!!!.

Nose: The alcohol stands out. There is some apple, banana and pear. As the drink settles, fresh wood and a slightly floral tone appears. Not much character. MOUTH: Little body, it is perceived as soft and watery.

Gradually the flavors are released: vanilla, caramel, anise and mint. Medium sweetness. FINAL: Spicy and long persistence. Pear and butter cookie are noticeable in the aftertaste. The deja vou is remarkably dry.

SUMMARY: A light, watery, simple whisky, but with a strong, spicy finish and balanced sweetness. Ideal for sharing with friends at a gathering or for everyday use.
