20 Best Whiskey Ice Cubes (2022 Updated)

Almost was going to get some ice sphere molds but the reviews mentioned difficulties with lids etc. This tray makes decent sized cubes and is solid so you can easily move it from the bench to the freezer when it is full of water.

Lid fits well and helps stop the ice tasting weird if it not used in a few days.

The item is well made and performs as expected. The ice turns out great but we quickly realized we need two to entertain four people. This does not create enough ice for two drinks each so you might as well grab another!.

I have tried washing these multiple times and my ice cubes always have a strange film/residue that floats in my water. Very strange.

I really like this product. As “advertised,” it does produce 4 large cubes. I would remind those not familiar with Silicone ice trays, removal of the cubes is not as easy as pull it out of the freezer and twist.

I allow the tray to sit out for 8-10 minutes to let the cubes “release” the sides of the tray and then extract by pushing the bottom of the individual receptacles. Back in the freezer and the cubes are ready to go.

This is NOT a complaint, merely a helpful hint as I would buy again if my need expands.

I admit – I got these for the occasional whiskey/bourbon drink and to impress friends. The cube’s don’t come out perfectly square, but who cares! I also like the idea of using these as seed starters.

It’s a bit early for the garden I grow, but I can easily see how these would work well. This product is made of good quality silicone. I’d recommend if you have someone that likes their fancy cocktails in a fancy glass, that sort of thing.

Absolutely love these. Keeps drinks chilled without the water down while providing a visually a appealing element to your experience. Only down side is because they are made of metal have a little weight to them, you must use caution when placing in stemware.

I’d advise tilting your glass when placing diamonds in place, before pouring… Cheers!.

I saw that a couple of people had had issues with these bursting open in the freezer, so I froze and thawed these a few times to put them to the test. They came out just fine with no bursting or leaks.

I feel safe using them myself and would have no issue giving them as a gift. These chilling stones are filled with liquid, and all you do is put them in a freezer for a few hours, then put a couple in a glass and add your favorite beverage to enjoy it cold without watering it down.

These stand out because of their shape– they’re not an average cube or ball, so they make a nice addition to your bar, and they come in a nice gift box so you can give them for birthdays or holidays.

This is something I would probably add to a gift basket rather than giving by itself– this along with a couple of nice whiskey glasses and a small bottle of the recipient’s favorite beverage would be just the thing.

These stones are a perfect accompaniment to the Dragon glassware – and I have a set that is reviewed elsewhere. They are conversation starters and absolutely beautiful to look at. However, like the glassware, they are better looking than in use.

These don’t hold a cold well. The metal seems to conduct too quickly and they cannot hold their cold long enough to take a whiskey to chilled from room temp. The set looks great, especially in the diamond glasses, but you should pre-chill your bourbon before you use them.

They might then help keep it cold a little longer.

These trays are awesome. I bought them because I wanted an actual silicone tray. The cubes pop right out. All you need to do is push on the bottom with your thumb. And the cubes are large, which is unique.

Sure, the lids don’t stay on, but they’re good enough to carry the trays from the counter to the freezer, they help with stacking, and they keep the cubes fresh. They’re just what I wanted, and I will buy more.

I was so excited about these when they first arrived – I love the idea of the large cubes to keep my drink cold. Alas. they trays picked up a “freezer odor” and nothing I’ve done will make it go away.

Best ice cube trays ever! Easily take out one cube at a time and they are large enough that you only need one for a drink. The lids let you avoid spills and put other items on top while they freeze.

I have to make my 5 lb dog’s food in batches and freeze most of it. I use aluminum foil to cover the tray. This large size is perfect for her food portions and it’s easy to get the food out without any sticking to the silicon.

Although I’ve seen complaints of the silicon taking on a bad scent after a while, it’s not been an issue for me even though fish is an ingredient in her food. I put it in the dishwasher and if there’s any residue from the detergent I just rinse the tray.

I haven’t had problems with detergent film on the tray either. I currently use Finish detergent if that makes any difference.

Our fridges ice machine cannot keep up with my family in summer. I just bought these and keep a stash in my freezer of these huge cubes. 2-3 cubes kwep my coffee or margaritas iced. My kids love them for keeping cool, and we have also put possible sticks in them for Juice pops.

Perfect size for huge ice. Took me a few tries on how to get them out semi quickly, the size keeps them in there good and snug. **outside cubes first.

I love this tray! I got this for my cocktails but also use it for regular drinks. yes, the tray will make the ice taste funny after a while BUT I’m sharing the easiest way to solve that problem. I did this last month when my ice started tasting weird.

I searched online and saw this is an issue for all silicone trays, this was my first one. cook’s country recommended that whenever it your ice starts to taste weird, empty it, wash it and pop it in the oven at 350 for about an hour and you’re done! no soaking in vinegar or any other crap that won’t work.

as long as the tray is oven safe, this one is because I’ve already put it in the oven, you’re good. so yes, this is still 5 stars for me.

Overall, great appearance as one would expect of an Orrefors product. The only downside as mentioned in another review is that the cubes are made in China. I have seen Orrefors products made in Germany but this is the first one where production has been moved to Asia.

Bad . I am vey mad because I ordered this and I didn’t received yet . I order this as a christmas gifted and i had been waiting more than two weeks and nothing . no notice about it .

I previously owned the Neat Ice Kit by studio Neat which was a very similar concept to this. However, the W&P Ice mold is WAY easier to use and gets a cleaner cut of ice every time. My only gripe so far is that sometimes the ice remains cloudy at the bottom.

However it fits my DOF glasses perfectly and produces great quality ice with a Brita filter. Could not recommend highly enough.

I bought these for my boyfriend because his fridge doesn’t make ice and he really loves them. All you have to do is fill them with water and then squish out the excess and stick them in the fridge, then carefully pop out the cubes.

I will say they’re pretty large so if you’re using a short or skinny glass they probably won’t fit. Easy to clean with a bristle/bottle brush or a sponge. We’ve really classed up our Super Bowl parties with them.

I’ve tried many different ice ball moulds and systems, including the Tovolo clear ice system, which was also pretty good, but a pain to use. At the time of writing this, this product is currently out of stock, but I hope it returns.

These sphere ice moulds are the easiest I’ve used, the most convenient, easiest to find a spot for in the freezer as they are pretty efficient space wise, and the easiest to disassemble. I’m a little disappointed I didn’t give these a chance earlier or I would have bought more, not only for myself, but would also make decent gifts.

If these come back into stock, buy them before they’re gone. Absolutely worth it.

This is a great concept and perfect for drinking scotch. I read in other reviews at other sites for this Tovolo brand the possibility of a residue in your drink that results from using these ice balls.

I was hopeful they were mistaken, or had something else in their glass. Unfortunately, sure enough, they were not mistaken. There is 100% for sure a residue/film/flakes of something that floats in the drink as these melt.

I’ve tested several times by making a few ice balls with different methods: cold water, hot water, etc. and allowed the ice balls to melt undisturbed into perfectly clean, clear wine glasses. I thought I was crazy, but I compared to melted water from regular ice cubes using our trusty old ice cube trays.

All made with the same water from our tap, which is crystal clear out of the faucet. Made sure the ice ball makers were perfectly clean. (I actually didn’t even clean the ice cube trays). The result was crystal clear melted water from our ice cube trays, and disgusting water from every ice ball I tried – an abundance of mysterious flakes in the water with a filmy residue on the water surface and stuck to the edges of the glasses.

I can only assume somehow it’s the plastic getting into the water. If you search at Amazon for Tovolo Sphere ice molds you will see the negative reviews that explain this same issue. This is a shame because otherwise they work great.

It actually would be a great value and the quality of the product itself is nice but what’s the point if it’s gross? and for all I know, unsafe?? Many people seem to love them but I can’t help to think they don’t notice the plastic residue floating in their drink.

Firstly, I liked the presentation of this product. The box was in great condition with a gold logo and writing on it and edged in gold as well. Opening it up revealed a sheet of paper behind which was the six rocks flanked by two glasses.

There’s also a small set of sheets of paper containing some instructions tied with two pieces of wood. The glasses are an interesting shape that I liked, and the stones are quite attractive and coloured differently.

The glasses did look a little ‘dull’, but they’re easy to hold thanks to the spiralled ridges. The rocks are on a hardwood board that you slide into the freezer. They don’t take up that much space. The instructions claim to leave them overnight, but research on the web suggests four hours is enough.

I did this initially and found no difference between using a rock that had been in the freezer overnight. The idea with these rocks is not (I believe) to chill the Scotch to ice cold temperatures, but to bring it down to lower temperatures which can bring out more flavours.

I found the rock certainly did this and I enjoyed a measure of Japanese whisky (Well, two or three if truth be known. ) and some Glen Ord. Normally, I drink with a drop of water, and don’t use ice, so using the rock to chill and a drop of water did give me a nice drink.

However, the rock only chills the drink for a small period of time, as it quickly absorbs the heat, unlike ice, which melts and disperses through the drink and cools it for longer. I thought this was a lovely, well-presented product, but I’m not overly convinced of the benefits over normal ice.

This would make an interesting and novel gift for a whisky drinker. Maybe in summer it will be good, as there’s nothing worse than warm Scotch and ice might melt too quickly and dilute it too much. I will continue to use them, but I do find that you have to drink quite quickly before the effect wears off.

This really is a an appealing whisky tumbler and cooling stones set. Even before you open the box to access the contents the packaging (and storage box) is evidently of high quality. Inside are housed two nicely weighted and comfortable-in-the-hand tumblers and the six solid granite cooling rocks and wooden holding tray.

Even the accompanying information/instructions are thoughtfully designed and housed within the well protected and upholstered box (and charmingly are tagged with small wooden, square tags). The stones themselves are milled to a very fine finish and – after freezing them for the advised 24 hours – really effective in keeping one’s liquor chilled throughout several drams (depending on how quickly you neck the stuff of course!).

I’m a keen whisky drinker and I’m surprised by how adding a chilled stone elevates the experience (and the set overall adds a certain ‘sense of occasion’ to the proceedings, as it were). I don’t think I will bother for scotches that benefit from added water, but for neat measures it works well.

In short this is set is a lovely item that any scotch or bourbon would be delighted with (though it could equally complement most, if not all, spirits you may fancy). If I have any complaint it is that you have to leave the stones in your freezer rather than housed in the box with the glasses (which is a bit of a shame as they are attractive and tactile things in themselves).

I gave this as a gift and the recipient loved it!. The glasses are handsome, well-designed for the whiskey aroma, and feel good in your hand. The granite chilling stones are solid granite, hold the cold for a long while, and the varied colors make them most interesting.

The wooden panel that the stones sit in is quite attractive. The only concern we had is that the box was split at the seams in two places. This appears to have occurred in sipping, likely a heavier package was sitting on it.

We didn’t return it because the recipient plans to display the rocks and glasses outside of the box, it’s that attractive! Many happy whiskey shipping hours ahead.

A good product. it is as described. don’t put the bag in the freezer. sticks to the freezer and peels. 🙂 I just the found cube’s it’s not what I thought it was. I drink good whisky Tullies/15yr and these cubes just don’t work in my opinion.

I might get the stainless steel ones in the future or just stay with filtered water ice cubes.

Great idea but useless. I poured a scotch and water into a frozen glass containing the rocks and it did not cool nearly as much as real ice cubes in a unfrozen glass.

I bought this stones for my brother but after he used them and I got to try them I actually loved them, and bought some for myself as well. Great product that are a lot more expensive in other places

The reusable bullet ice cubes were a gift and the recipient loved them. (Which I took as they were effective at cooling the drink) Now he can drink his whiskey without the watering down effect of real ice cubes.

It’s exactly as advertised. I did find it a little difficult to pour the water in just right to make the perfect diamond shape tho. Also I though it was going to be a little bigger but that was my mistake.

This ice mold does make large diamond shaped ice cubes. I was hoping that the ice cubes would last longer. No funnel to fill to top with.

They really do need to update this description. 4 glasses not 6, and I was pretty confused when I got the box, but honestly didn’t think too much of it because I liked the glasses and the ice molds so much.

Bought 2 of these for gifts. Used one and the shaker set as white elephant gifts. They were the most popular gifts of the party. I’m going to back and buy myself a set or 2. I love the large round ice mold that comes with the glasses.

These reusable ice cubes are surprisingly versatile. I had originally bought them because I found it an appealing idea to chill drinks without watering them down. I hadn’t even considered their other advantages.

We do a lot of caravanning, and I always find it rather annoying having to faff about making ice cubes for drinks. The water always drips everywhere, and it takes ages for them to really freeze through in the tiny freezer compartment.

And as soon as you up and leave the campsite for your next stop, you start the whole saga from scratch. Not with these nifty cubes. It doesn’t matter if they’re completely frozen through, they’re always better than no ice at all.

And there’s no water splashes to contend with. As so often, it’s the littlest things that make a big difference. Kikkerland always seems to come up with slightly random products that are well-designed, often quirky, and good quality.

I bought these for my husband. He was constantly asking for more ice cubes for his pop but no longer! Yay! We needed a sleep day today and we both slept for over 8 hours ~ I asked if his morning juice stayed cold and he said part way.

I say that is definitely a success for being over 8 hours!.

Keep a bag of these in the freezer now to quickly chill drinks or bottles. Pop them in a bucket or cooler with some proper ice cubes to make them go further. Then straight back in the freezer again – no mess! I haven’t added to a drink myself, but you could if preferred.
