20 Best White Acrylic Paint (2022 Updated)

I normally paint with acrylics and oils. I recently tried this paint and it’s honestly been hard to paint with any other brand. I originally just brought 4 tubes to try it out, and I’ve been going back for more color options ever since.

I’m used to using Liquitex for their satin varnish/gloss, but their paint did not disappoint. The colors are very vivid and clean. It makes me exited to paint, even when I don’t know what I want to make.

If you can catch these on sale, that’s even better! If you don’t believe me, just try it out. Buy one tube and I bet you’ll be back for more!.

I’ve been a loyal customer for some time now abs no I was over the top excited when I purchased your pouring paint set the first set was fabulous, to say the least, my pieces came out totally awesome!!! But!!! But in the most recent set of pouring paint, I purchased there was something different something off in the product and it reflected in my work.

What’s different did the formula change if so please please revise it.

As always, I found the quality of my fluid acrylic paint to be excellent. The color is beautiful and rich, mixes with pouring medium well and maintains its beautiful integrity after I added water to create a thin consistency.

Also, there was a shipping problem and the Arteza Customer Service team was incredibly helpful and super fast! Great company to buy from.

These are a nice medium weight paint. These are filled with lots of pigment and shimmer so the glazing reveals lots of subtly and sparkle. These are great for glazing and lots of other Gelli printing techniques.

The lighter iridescents provide lots of shimmer and a hint of color. I love these and will definitely make sure to keep them in stock.

Wish I didn’t have to have these, but that is how Ford designed the fender markers. This is a good product. Sturdy, and shouldn’t come loose.

Tasty but very HOT, I didn’t even try the extra hot, I mixed the mild with a tablespoon of hot and cooked some chicken on the grill. The cooking process reduces the heat of the sauce. I don’t know if I will ever even try the extra hot.

I use these paints regularly for various craft applications and some repairs. They don’t separate during storage and the color choices are numerous. Sometimes I find the exact touch up color I need without having to mix a new batch every time I work on a piece.

If I do have to mix colors, depending on the “mother color” there might be unexpected blend results because there are several pigments added to get the bottled shade. I had that problem with the so called Modular colors in the 70s.

(uh oh- I think I just dated myself) Some colors would became muddy when blended. These handy colors are fairly clean and true. Great choices for very little money.

This paint is amazing! I love the variety of colors; smooth texture and it advertises true to color. The Michaels partnership with Plaid is amazing. I always look forward to my Monday night Folk Art Paint Nights.

I am literally purchasing one of every color because of this amazing product. Matte, Satin, Metallic or Neon, worth purchasing all types. The multi-surface version is an additional favorite because I can use it on so many surfaces and know that I will be getting quality effects.

The cost is affordable, and I feel I am not breaking the bank. A little goes a long way and I so appreciate that as well!!!!.

This is not a good glitter paint. For one, it barley has any purple tone to it. You have to paint the surface with a solid color before you apply this. I did not like the finished product. I found using real glitter works way way better as this doesn’t even have enough glitter to hardly show on the surface.

If it shows it comes out in patches and not even. It has the consistency of watery slime with a slight hue of purple. Would be good for kids because it will hardly stain if they paint your furniture instead of the paper.

Kind of like pretend jewelry.

I have been happily using a number of colors for a few months. The pigment load is great. The coverage is good with no unwanted transparency surprises. Thank you for making a true Ultramarine Blue since other reputable companies have most all their blues in a Phlalo tint.

The only arteza blue I find lacking is Cobalt blue. It is a medium to light violet blue, NOT a cobalt blue. I had to substitute a Liquitex blue to even get close. The violets you offer and the deep reds are some I cannot find elsewhere.

Bravo! The Burnt Umber is not as dark as it should be. If it were me, I would switch the VanDyke formula and call THAT burnt Umber. But I need a dark brown so I am happy i discovered this. I also love the pearl colors for glazing.

I use Arteza paints in painting pouring. The pigments are rich enough without losing their vibrant color when mixed with a pouring medium and dry to a nice satiny finish! The price points are slightly higher than competitors for the same amount which when on a tight budget makes it difficult to make decisions about purchasing this product.

Sales are a nice treat when they occur and I stock up on these paints during those times. Blues and greens are my favorite color so I am hoping that Arteza will continue to expand their paint production into a wider variety in these shades.

I always look forward to receiving a new shipment. Customer service is their strong suit, making certain that their customers are satisfied!.

I purchased several colors of acrylic paint and was recommended to get Arteza. This paint is FABULOUS! Wow. what a difference. The quality of this paint is great and the colors are very vibrant. The prices are reasonable and the selection is nice.

I wish all of the colors were sold separately instead of as a group. especially the metallics.

Michaels makes you purchase these in multiples of 3 which is outright RIDICULOUS!!! These are relatively inexpensive small items, so it’s not outlandish to get multiple bottles, but of the SAME COLOR?!? I can’t even begin to imagine how someone thought that was a good idea.

This is 2021 and there’s probably a way to figure out how not to make people buy 3 of the same color if they want this paint.

For an Arched Metal ARBOR with Bench that I took the better part of a month to totally Rehab, Repair, Sandblast and Prep to Paint I can say. I came in totally prepared to have to Mix Colors to attain just the Perfect Shades of Purple and Green for the Grapes and Vines of this Project.

!! I was directed to those Folk Art Colors which could be used on Metal. The 406-Hunter Green & the 411-Purple worked wwaayy beyond my expectations. !! When dry the finished colors created an antique affect that totally impressed this meticulous Cowboy.

!! I truly would use this Paint again and forget the Mixing Song & Dance. !! Excellent Product. !!.

I started painting at 59 1/2 years of age. Only took 1 art class in high school but always loved artwork. I started with all the Folkart paints for all the different surfaces I painted. I absolute LOVE this paint.

There are a large range of colors to choose from and new ones come out as well. The paint covers well and looks beautiful and still looks good as new after many years since some of my work was completed.

I highly recommend it. there is no odor and it spreads well and is self sealing!.

I believe I’ve already reviewed this. However, I’m happy to say again, having been a bit of a paint snob all my life I would only buy my art paints from big name art stores, but recently I needed larger amounts than artists’ tubes, smaller amounts than from a house paint store.

(I’m doing specialty artistic paint finishes on furniture. ) Googling 8 oz. acrylic and latex paints I stumbled on Michaels on line. (The closest store is six hours away from my small town. ) Certainly worth a try.

I received my order and was more than pleasantly surprised with the quality and ease of use. I’ve used this straight, and mixed with other colors and the results are nothing short of stunning. I’m truly surprised and happy with these paints, will continue to order.

I absolutely love the color and quality of the Decoart Americana paints. I have recently started replacing my white base color with this Buttermilk color. It is such a nice neutral color that adds a richness to my acrylic paintings.

I highly recommend giving it a try. I started with the 2 oz bottle to try it out. I loved it so much that I went back and purchased this 16 oz container.

This paint is absolutely PHENOMENAL! The color is vibrant and the finish is just lovely! I had a side table that I wanted to use as a focal point for a refinished chess set I’d done and the finished product is even more beautiful than I’d hoped! This is my very first time using this brand but I am now a user and fan for LIFE! Phenomenal color and quality!.

I have always found Windsor and Newton professional acrylic paints to be good quality as are their drawing, sketching, ink and acrylic pads. Crafty Arts provide an efficient and personal service. The products were very reasonably and fairly priced.

I luv these Acrylic paints for their pigment. This was an incredibly difficult paint by numbers. I had to use a magnifying glass 90% of the time. These paints dry quickly and are easy to blend and work with.

If you use acrylic paint. Then I highly recommend these.

I love the smoothness and richness of these colors. Since COVID, painting other’s pets has become my job and these paints definitely help get the job done. They are in the average price range with a huge variety of colors that always live up to their namesake.

I love to paint mandalas. I’ve been doing it for about a year, and in that time, I’ve tried a lot of different acrylic paints. DecoArt Americana has the perfect texture necessary for creating dots that are consistent and uniform for a markedly longer time than other acrylics of the same price range.

The key is to mix it with a long wood stick when you first open it. After its first mix, the paint retains its cohesion and gives a superior performance—which is very very important when you’re trying to make everything look identical.

If you dot paint, you should absolutely try DecoArt Americana Paint. And Cadmium Yellow is a great one to buy first, especially for beginners—you can use it as the “pollen” in the center of your “flowers.

Quite pleased with these paints, they go on smooth, especially with a soft brush. They also work for stenciling, if used with a little care. They do have a flat finish, but I’ve been going over them with a clear sealer for durability anyway, so I get the sheen I want that way.

Check the Americana website for the opacity chart, they are open and honest about which colors are opaque, and which are semi-opaque. As expected, all colors I’ve used look better with 2 coats, semi-opaque take 3.

This paint is decent quality, about what I would expect for the price. The colors are mostly vibrant, but the coverage and opacity aren’t as good as other brands in a slightly higher price range. The consistency is nice and smooth, which is good for blending on the canvas, but it doesn’t show brush strokes much if you’re going for that effect.

The colors are mostly hues, meaning they are not pure pigments, but rather mixtures of two or more. That’s expected for the price, but means mixing colors can be a little unpredictable at times. BTW, the author of the “most helpful positive review” is wrong and unfortunately has misinformed lots of people.

The numbers listed with a pigment are not “levels” of that pigment. The hundreds of different chemicals in use as paint pigments are each assigned a number to keep them all straight. Pigment Blue 15 = PB15 which is phthalo blue, PB29 is ultramarine blue, PY74 is hansa yellow, PY42 is yellow iron oxide, etc.

Different number just refers to a different pigment/chemical. The number itself has nothing to do with concentration, strength, quality, intensity, purity, or anything remotely like “level”.

FIRST THING FIRST -I GRADE HARD! I WAS CLASSICALLY TRAINED IN ANATOMY AND USED OIL PAINT. I LIKE ACRYLICS BECAUSE THEY DONT SMELL,AND THEY DRY FAST! BUT OILS ARE RICHER! SO HERE WE GO! LASCAUX CREAMY,GOOD COVERAGE,DRIES FAST,NICE COLOR,GREAT FINISH! I MAKE PRINTS OF MY WORK, AND THE GUYS THAT SHOOT MY WORK LIKE THE MATTE FINSH BECAUSE THERE IS ALMOST NO GLARE.

THE STUDIO 85 MILL BOTTLES ARE A SATIN FINISH,BUT ARE NOT BAD. I FEEL THE 932 PURPLE/RED IS A GREAT 50/50. THE 135 VIOLET IS JUST RIGHT,NOT BLACK. THE 191 WHITE,IS WHITE, NOT COOL,NOR YELLOW. THE LIGHT ORANGE 121 AND LIGHT CAD YELLOW 112 ARE NICE AND BRIGHT FOR SUNNY SCENES.

I ONLY HAVE ONE COMPLANT ABOUT LASCAUX: THE FLESH TONES FOR PAINTING FIGURES! WHERE ARE THEY!?. EXAMPLE- LATIN WOMEN, LIGHT SKIN BLACK WOMEN, VERY TAN WHITE WOMEN, LIKE CALIFORNIA GIRLS. I NEED A MIDDLE TONE, LIKE THE LIQUITEX GRIS TAUPE.

IF LASCAUX WANTS TO COMPETE WITH OTHER BRANDS THEY NEED TO FILL THAT HUGE GAP! I HAD TO USE OTHER PAINTS FROM BLICK TO FILL THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IS WHY I COULD NOT GIVE THEM 5 STARS. ON INSTAGRAM I AM UNDER HARDCOREARTIST, IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO WITH 90% OF LASCAUX PAINTS.

When I buy paint I look for a color that contains “light” and will also mix well to give me several beautiful colors. Lascaux colors that I have purchased do all contain a great quality of “light”-meaning they don’t look “flat” nor any dullness to them.

I encourage every artist to try their favorite colors in Lascaux and you will instantly see the difference. Whoever mixes their colors for them is spot on-these are beautiful beautiful colors. I have tried many manufacturers and Lascaux is the most beautiful.

They have a transparent “candy-like” quality-absolutely beautiful.

I love Lascaux. I used to love Dan Smith Acrylics but they were discontinued, boo hoo. Sure, Lascaux is overpriced, but the colors are dreamy and intense. I mix Lascaux with other brands (Golden, Golden Open, Old Holland, W&N, Sennelier, etc.

) and so far no problems. If all paints were the same price, I would use Lascaux exclusively. Well, I would continue trying other brands because each formula seems to be slightly different and I am still searching for perfect replacements for DS Phthalo Blue, DS Quinacridone Sienna, DS Quinacridone Rose and others.

I use to paint for fun in the past and decided to come back to it after a few years break. I’m on a budget so I bought this 24 paint set just for the fun of it to get reacquainted with painting again.

Big Mistake! The color variety you get in the box is great, but I regret not listening to my original instincts and buy separate paint tubes from a brand that stands by their quality like I did the first time I started painting.

The colors are too transparent, lightweight, lacks vibrancy/ isn’t true to their color name. For example, Cadmium red isn’t truly cadmium red like other higher quality brands. I would only recommend this set if you want to play around with the idea of painting and color mixing or wish to decorate small items like a jewelry box or letters for a playroom.

If you want to create an ambitious landscape painting, please look elsewhere. Splurge on the higher quality paint. Now I have to go back to Blick to buy better paint which I don’t mind as I love the store! I’m glad the tubes are small so I don’t feel like I wasted money really.

I’ll try to use it out in someway.

I really do love these paints. First off. the consistency is really nice and solid. Its got a wonderful buttery feel to it. They blend well with a pallet knife and mix well on the canvas. Second. the strength of the colors is also very nice.

I’ve noticed that there is almost no “greying down” when the paints are added to mediums or mixed with white. The color stays strong and vibrant. Third. the range of colors provided in this particular kit is a great value.

There are the basic primary colors. basic secondary colors and warm and cool versions of each as well as a nice black and white. Fourth. while i would love the tubes to be bigger these small ones that come in the nice box are perfect for travel and or on location painting.

Final assessment of these paints: You get your moneys worth and they are totally worth adding to your acrylic collection.

This is the second time I have bought the 48 colors set of Blick Acrylic Paints and both times I have been absolutely satisfied. These paints have arrived soft and fresh, never dried out like some other brands I’ve bought.

These are medium bodied, work flawlessly on canvas and wood block but also on crafting thongs. The colors once painted with on canvas have not faded after being hung for 5 years. You can build texture and layers, additives work well and they work great wet-on-wet using a gesso.

The 7ml tubes are enough to last over a year for painting frequently. I’ve even hosted a paint party with these. Excellent and I’ll never buy other the Blick acrylic.

I order LOTS of bottles of paint of several different colors. While all of the paints arrived, they were packaged in soft bags and about 1/2 of the bottles per bag had been smashed and leaked. I have no way of knowing how much paint was actually lost but it was an incredible mess.

They should’ve been packaged in a smarter way.

I have been using Americana paints for all my decorative painting projects for the past 32 years. I love the variety of colors and the quality of the paint.

I bought this after my friend had told me about it. We are both crafters and I cannot thank him enough! The paint is so smooth and never gets chunky when sitting even for weeks at a time. I love the richness in the colors and how they transfer into canvas or paper.

I have used it on both as well as wood and the color is consistent on all mediums. I will be back for more!.

I am a mature BA Fine Art student. I have tried a few different types of acrylic paints. This type is outstanding by far. Versatile in use for dry brush strokes or fluid brush strokes. I used this paint in my seascapes and impressed my advisor of studies with the brushstrokes of the waves.

It may be a small pouch of paint but it covers large areas with small amounts as it has good concentration. You can squeeze out small amounts at a time. I like the packaging its easy to store or carry to different locations.

I mostly use this paint to make prints with a gel plate. It’s great for that–brayers on smoothly, and doesn’t take forever to dry if I want to do a multi-layer print. Colors are lovely and hold up well/as expected in mixing.

I haven’t tried painting with it on paper or canvas yet but I’m sure it’ll work just fine. It is fairly soft, so I don’t expect it’ll permit extremely impasto effects but there are mediums for that. I like the pouches.

The caps do tend to get paint on them and around the base of the spout, making them difficult to open. I’m just careful to clean them off when I’m done painting for the day.

After a friend mentioned these paints I decided to check them out. I have been painting for decades with oil and sometimes acrylic and was looking for the elusive low price + good quality in an acrylic.

The first thing different is being in a pouch instead of a tube. That turned out to not be an issue and are easy to deal with. The other thing was the titanium white was better than expected at this price point.

The rest of the colors have been as impressive with their tinting strength as well. Because I have painted a lot with oils I was especially interested in the paint having a body that was more like oils.

While paint viscosity can be wide ranging these paints seem to be very consistent throughout their line. The clear pouches also make it easy to see the actual paint color for convenience. They appear to be modeled on the texture and body of historical models from Europe, mainly to handle more like traditional oils, they are less like acrylics and more like oil in their handling.

They seem to be average with their drying times. The first pouch I bought was a pouch of titanium white and once I saw that it covered well I tried a few more tubes and within several months I have added quite a few to the palette.

I don’t know of a better paint value for acrylics and the range of colors are impressive. Sennelier has long made pro-level oils and now these acrylics have entered the market as a budget price but perform much better than expected and are a quality product.

Golden open acrylics are highly pigmented professional grade acrylic paint. I really appreciate the slower drying time. It makes it possible to create painterly, oil color like effects. The do not take days or weeks to dry like oil paint and can be thinned and cleaned with water.

I used to use oils, but due to affectionate cats, switched to acrylic. I use mediums to get the glazes I like, but the open working time was still a bit of an issue. Golden Open has helped immensely! I like that I can use my other acrylic paint with the Open if I don’t need a long working time.

I highly recommend Golden Open acrylic paint!.

Lascaux Studio Acrylics are fantastic fluid acrylic. paints. They cover a huge area with one brush full of paint. They dry to a soft velvety matte finish which is easy to paint over. I use them for under painting and also for painting and glazing.

If you give them a try I think you will be amazed at the superb archival quality of Lascaux Studio Acrylics. They are definitely professional artists’ quality. I have some paintings painted with Lascaux Studio Acrylics which are 15 years old and look like new.

I do not varnish my paintings because it flattens out the 3D effect I try so hard to achieve.

Though the price has gone up lately I still have not found acrylics comparable to Lasceaux. I have been using them for over 15 years. Have tried others now and then but the body is just not the same.

I have also tried the Lasceaux in the tubes but actually prefer the Studio, though it might have been the color (red) I tried.

I was recommended this brand by a fabulous art teacher. The ceruleans I have been using seemed fine, but when I used this one it changed everything. Vibrant amazing color!

If you were to compare American Journey Watercolors to other Artist grade paints you would find it at the top of my list. The Cerulean Blue I just purchased performs as well as all the other colors I’ve tried.

It performs just the way you want from palest wash to the full beautiful color. It mixes so well, even with other brand watercolors. If it were priced as high as the others I would still buy and use it.

However with it’s pricing, especially in the larger tubes, I find no reason to search for a more perfect paint. Thank you Cheap Joes… well done!.

Sometimes when you’re in a painting rut it becomes necessary to get out your Dremel tool and hack up a fence post to make Tiki poles in order to ward off all those evil spirits that are holding you back.

Joe’s Yellow, Mint Julep, and Orchid are perfect colors to add brilliance and vitality to any Tiki post. Prime with a layer of absorbent ground then paint! If you love 300lb watercolor paper then you’ll love the heftiness of a thirty pound fence post.

The tube is worthy of consideration. American Journey pigments are of great quality but I also appreciate the small cap and metal tube. I steer away from plastic…ALL plastic. Brands that come in plastic tubes are no longer an option for me.
