16 Best White Eyeshadow Base (2022 Updated)

I bought this while trying various eye primers to find one that worked well but cost less than my favorites so I’d have an alternative for daily usage. At first the nude pencil appeared it would almost match my skin but slightly darker; which isn’t an issue if it holds and pigment can stick to it.

It swatches average but the application was a bit harsh. I tried warming up the tip in my hand and by applying it elsewhere before my eyes but it didn’t seem to change the tough consistency. I don’t have sensitive skin and although I am now over 35, the skin around my eyes has not begun to crease or become thin so that isn’t the cause either.

Basically it didn’t smoothly cover the lid and couldn’t be blended out easily in order to apply eyeshadow without it looking patchy. I highly recommend several products from this brand and for the price it may be worth trying in case I got a “bad” one.

In fact this is the first of their products I have given a less than average rating to so hopefully I can try again or they’ll make another shade/ change the formula a bit.

This is a decent eye primer, but it’s definitely not the best on the market. I have this eye primer in “Whiteâ€. This primer comes in a crayon. The white colour does not apply in full pigment. It blends into my fair skin tone quite seamlessly.

I use this base when I am using light shades or coloured eyeshadows. When applied under colourful eyeshadows, this primer makes the colours pop. I recommend using this white base under pastels. This primer can build up unevenly if you apply a lot of product.

I also find that this primer needs to set fully before applying eyeshadows, or that it should be set with powder. If this primer doesn’t set fully, eyeshadows can cling or apply unevenly. I will use this primer up, but I will not repurchase it.

I recommend the in “Freebase†over the LA Girl primer.

This is my all-time favorite eyeshadow primer! I buy it in white and use it daily before putting on my eyeshadow. It keeps my eyeshadow in place all day long without creasing and makes my shadow pop.

I have tried so many different brands and kinds of primer: Clinique Touch Base, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, etc… and this is still my favorite. The fact that it’s also a stick and I just swipe it on and rub in is also a plus.

Many other primers are wet, and you have to put on your finger and rub them in and then wait for them to dry. All around great product for a fantastic price.

Very light weight and really smooths out the crepey eyelids. This be product also works well as an under eye concealer. Don’t be surprised to see a tiny jar – a little goes a long way when using this product.

Target had the medium tone to offer, am anxious to try mixing it with the fair tone as it just may be a bit yellow on me if I wanted to wear without any shadow. I’m happy with the results this product provides me and will continue using – and choosing over my other five base products along with my costly under eye concealers.

Did I mention that my shadow lasts all day when using this product and no creases. Love it!.

One of the influencers I like to watch on Instagram uses this base and honestly I bought it because I was curious and thought it couldn’t be bad if she was loving it. and honestly? BETTER THAN P LOUISE.

P Louise was always creasing and I wasn’t getting great color payoff, even with pigments, but I didn’t realize that until I tried the Gerard eye base. I’ve been using the white one for a month and a half and it’s the best eye base I’ve ever used.

It stays tacky, so you do have to change your technique from how you’d apply makeup over an eye primer that dries down. Never have had this crease on me, lasting power is there and it helps my shadows come through true to pan! It’s also very easy to just wipe off at the end of the day with some micellar water.

I love this base so much that I just ordered the “fair” shade to add to my collection! If you’re not loving your eye primer or base, I highly recommend grabbing one of these guys off Amazon or the website! Also- a little goes a very long way so don’t be shocked at how small the pot is.

I see what I have left of my first one, lasting me to the end of the year. seriously!.

This took my MAC paint pot, sucker punched it, knocked it out cold and threw it out a 4 story window! Never in a million years did I think anything could take its place. But when this one came into my life oh my goodness gracious I don’t know what kind of magic sorcery is in this little pot but it is pure heaven especially on mature lids.

And the fact that you use actually a little teeny tiny Dot of it makes the price ridiculously inexpensive. I just could say more and more and more about this product and I would give it 10 Stars if that was allowed.

This is not my go-to eye base/primer, but I definitely reach for it. I have the Huda beauty 9 pan pastel palettes in the shades ‘Rose’ and ‘Mint’ and this white eye base is the only thing I have tried that makes them wearable and not just dust in the wind.

When I use this as an eye base, I only use it on the main part of the lid, once I get to the crease and upward, I use a dab of concealer, blended slightly into this base at the crease. This Way the blend on the edges is faded into a skintone color, not just ashy white.

This isn’t my preferred primer for other shadows. It’s consistency is great for lightening up any liquid or cream complexion product. A tiny bit goes a LONG way. I sometimes use a small bit of this to mix with a bit of my foundation I’m wearing (Tarte Foundcealer) , and then apply that as a highlighting concealer.

If you’re obsessed with eyeshadow, your heart and soul is going to convince you that you must use this to cut your crease. Don’t. It never actually turns out, trust me, I know. :p.

I tried this product about a year ago, on several different occasions. I really wanted to like this primer however, It creases on my eyeslids causing my eyeshadow to look messed up. I do have oily eyelids so it just dosent work with my skin type.

I even tried to set it with setting powder, but had no luck with that either. However, I did like how it made my eyeshadow pop I just wish it didn’t crease. I have tried it several time but it just did not work for me unfortunately.

So I unfortunately would not recommend this primer, especially if you have oily skin.

I tried this in an attempt to cover veins, even out skin tone and prevent shadow creasing. I’m 48, my lids and upper lids are quite textured. It takes some spreading out, I don’t like that simply because of the time involved.

Texture was emphasized immediately, it wasn’t hydrating, my lids looked older. Shadow creased within an hour. Younger eyes might enjoy this because it does give shadow a brighter more pigmented look.

Easy to wear during the day as a quick lid color, to highlight over darker shades, or to wear foiled. I often wear this on the lid with Lithium as a liner (which is great if you like to sparkle!). As a blue-eyed gal, I also appreciate the blue tones in The Vaccine, which add that little something to make my eyes pop.

I got this color on a whim, and now it’s one of my go-to shades.

I have several different colors from CM and LOVE them all!! Def worth the money and they send a very generous sample when you purchase over $50, which I have done several times! As they add new colors, I will be back for more!.

This shadow is a great all over lid color with some eyeliner. It’s not easily as opaque as shown in the photo and so far is best applied with my fingertip. It’s flexible in the way it can be worn sheer or really packed on.

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST EYE PRIMER there is. Not only is it easily applied, cost effective AND lightweight, it last all day! I am aging(ish) and have some seriously creased eyelids.

I normally stray from high pigment mattes because I could never find a primer that would hold the product I packed in well enough to avoid creasing. Until I found this gem! Ever since I got it in a Vox Box I have been obsessed, and am FINALLY using the mattes in my eyeshadow pallets.

It works great for pastel shades, as well as high pigment cream shadows like Super Shock Shadows from Colourpoo. I literally do not use anything else! If you haven’t tried this product, skip your gorgeous self down to your closest Ulta or drugstore and pick this up, you will NOT be disappointed!.

I bought this on sale at my local departement store. I’ve tried it a couple of times. But never really made it work. It feels oily, so it’s definitely not an eyeshadow primer. It’s a base, but I found it slippery and weird.

It didn’t really improve my eyeshadows, and it didn’t give any coverage. So I quit using it. I don’t know if that was my mistake, believing this product was going to be something completely different.

I prefer eyeshadow primers that actually even out the color of my lid before I put on shadows.

I do find using eyeshadows directly on the primer make it very difficult to blend out due to the strong hold this gives hence it is best to set it with a translucent powder or with an eyeshadow close to your skin tone.

I do have oily eyelids and I have noticed that this primer also helps control that to some extent. My shadows stay crease-free for the whole day. As a primer, it performs greatly. My eyeshadows show up with full intensity.

They remain vibrant throughout the day with little to no fading. Overall, this is an excellent primer and it is very similar to the Bareminerals 5 in 1 Cream Shadow in terms of texture and performance.

I love them both and will recommend this. Pros of :Works as a concealer as well as a primer. Gives crease-free eyeshadow all day. Little to no fading of eyeshadows. Works well even for those with oily lids.

Not too drying and does not give crusty eyes. Does not settle into fine lines. Just a little goes a long way. Cons of : Nothing that I can think of. This is an excellent product.

I have suffered with oily lids for over a year, and my eye make-up streams off every day. Depressing when you don’t feel your usual glam self. Tried loads of primers, but this seems to work the best for my oily lids.

I bought this along with MAC LIQUIDLAST LINER on ASOS and the two work great together. I used these with Matt urban decay eyeshadow and my make up stayed on all day. So happy with these products!.

I love using Smashbox Photo Finish, but this product is runnier and doesn’t leave the same satiny feel and look on my skin. It should be a very thick gel, which didn’t even happen after time in the fridge (thought maybe it was just a bit warm from the mailbox).

The clear outer seal only covered the lid, did not extend to the tube. I’ve already requested a return refund. ***Just ordered the real primer from Smashbox. com since I can’t trust Amazon on this one (I do 99% of the time).

I have very sensitive eyes and suffer from Glaucoma. This is the only product I have used so far that does not irritate my eyes and the colours are perfect. I am unable to use under eye concealer due to my sensitivity and the Medium is perfect to conceal dark circles under eyes.

I use the Medium deep alone on my eyelids as the colour is so natural. I have been unable to find the product (all of UK and Europe) and WILL BE DEVASTATED IF YOU DISCONTINUE THIS PRODUCT!!!.

Several years ago I mentioned to a beauty assistant that my eyeliner always smudges and I look like I have black eyes by the end of the day, she recommended this eye Base and I’ve never looked back. It’s easy wand applicator is perfect to dispense only a small amount.

I believe there are 4 shades I use med/dark and it lasts me well over 6 months. It’s a good Base for an eye shadow application especially if you have oily lids like I do. I also use it as a Base pre liquid eyeliner.

I normally do not write reviews because I feel many times I just chose the wrong product for me. However, that is not the case with this one. I use a lot of Bobbi Brown products, and never had an issue.

However, this product was not only a disappointment, I feel I wasted my money. The product is thin, almost watery and cannot provide a smooth base on my eyelid. In fact, it actually causes creases. I have continued to use it thinking as it is used, it will thicken, but it has only gotten drier.

I will not repurchase.

I bought this as soon as it launched, as I’ve been searching for a great eyeshadow primer for years. I’ve tried a number of them and have a couple of favourites. This is going to the top of the pile! I have the lighter colour.

Easy to apply, I found my eyeshadow stayed in place a full 8 hours, which is perfect. I don’t have oily eyelids, but they are slightly hooded, so often my eyeshadow creases in a couple of hours. The colour of this primer doesn’t affect the colour of the eyeshadow I apply afterwards.

It just does it’s job of keeping my eyeshadow in place! If I was feeling lazy, I could just apply it on its own and it would give a bit of colour, but that’s unlikely as I’m addicted to eyeshadow! I do love Chantecaille products and appreciate they are not cheap, but when it comes to the basics like primer, it’s so important to get it right and find something that will make the rest of your products work better.

I bought this as I wanted a light shade to work both as a base eyeshadow shade and a primer. I have the light shade and it glides on to skin without any dragging. Its a soft creamy consistency that dries down to a soft matte.

The shade is not fully opaque but can be double layered for full coverage. This is very long lasting as a primer it provides a very smooth base for eye makeup with no creasing or flaking. My eyeshadow lasts all day when I use this I even find I need extra eye make-up remover at night to take off my eye makeup as without it, my eyeshadow wears off during the day.

I often use this alone with eyeliner and mascara to even out my eye area if I am in a rush and it looks great. I am really impressed with this product as with all Chantecaille makeup it feels like it also has skincare benefits and is a pleasure to use.

I purchased this after reading good things about it, and thought it sounded perfect for my eyelids which always dark although I am fair. However, at 50 my eyelids are not as smooth as they once were, please bear this in mind.

I always use the Becca colour corrector first for discolouration, a small amount of my Nars creamy concealer thats left on the brush over the top and then I used this. It was horrific! It settled into every small line and crease and looked really greasy.

I certainly couldn’t have put eyeshadow over the top, and I was better without it than with it. So I took the whole lot off and started again! I gave it to my daughter who is 22 but she didn’t think much of it either.

I am an upper 50 year old lady and have used Touch Base for Eyes for too many years to count. It has always applied effortlessly and has looked beautiful. I LOVED how the color intensity could be so easily controlled – light for every day and heavier for nights.

It was perfect. However, the last 2 times I have bought my go-to color, Nude Rose, it has not lived up at all to my previous experiences. Something has changed. The product dries out within 4 applications, I now have to tug and drag it across my lid to apply it evenly, and, it settles in my crease before completing my makeup application! Plus, it now feels heavy on my lid when before it felt weightless.

I know products have to be changed and updated to remain fresh and current for customers. But, I expect changes to be for the better. I am disappointed Clinique. I am on the hunt for a replacement.

Not as creamy as it used to be. When I was in high school I use this every morning to quickly put on some make up. I use that as my eyeshadow and threw on some mascara and I was out the door. The Ulta near me doesn’t even sell it in store.

So I ordered it online, are used it and I felt as though it was harder to put on than it used to be. I tried using a brush and I tried using my finger and it just did not glide on as easily as I would’ve liked.

It didn’t blend very well. I would recommend using Altus eye primer, the matte or the shimmer. It works much better. It just goes to show that more expensive items doesn’t mean they work better.

I’ve been stuck on this stuff for years!! Clinique gave me an in-person a makeup tutorial when I was about 15, I’ve been using it since. Without giving my age away lol, it’s been awhile! I’m not a big makeup person, just like very minimal- this stuff I use daily! Wether I’m using it as a base or by itself which I prefer, I love it.

Gives me a light pop of color, but I still get that no makeup, makeup look, still feel natural. Don’t debate, just get, kinda a makeup staple. Love!.

PERFECT! AMAZING! THE BEST! I tried a lot of eyeshadow bases. and i like a few of them but this one by Nars is without a doubt the absolut best and master on the market, still today. The drydown is so perfect, it gets a little powdery, not sticky at all, doesn‘t crease at all and you can easily top it with any powder.

You can top any eyeshadow over it, liquid ones, you can use a liner without any problems it is just perfect. I use the shade Medium and usually blend it on the eyelid with my fingers. That‘s the easiest way I could figure out to apply it.

In love with the Smudge Proof eyeshadow base for years and don‘t think I‘m gonna to replace it soon. So if you ever wonderd if this could be a good product to test, I would say: go for it!.

My relationship with Nars is the very case when you approach the brand for years and leave with nothing every time😅 ⠀ I was not hooked by the famous blush, well, not at all! Both mascara and endless palettes to the same place, but I really wanted to get to know the brand.

I decided to start with foundation and concealer, and then I needed a base for the eyelids and everything grew together. ⠀ Before that, I used the urban decay base for a long time and was pleased, but later I began to notice that it dries out the eyelid.

Therefore, it was important for me to find something no less worthy, but without the aging effect🙃 ⠀ Nars did not disappoint in this regard: the product turned out to be exactly what I wanted. In the package, the base is white, but on the eyelid it is transparent.

So far I’m loving this primer. I haven’t used it enough to have a well rounded thorough view on it. So far it’s looking pretty promising. Definitely better than what i have previously used. It works beautifully with Nars shadows, as you’d expect! Haven’t tried it with other brands yet.

A little goes a long way. It grips shadows wonderfully, in a good way! Still able to blend without patchiness. Seems to work very well for hooded eyelids. Feels soft and light on the eyes. Pretty impressed!.

it’s a tacky primer so the eyeshadow sticks well. it does enhance the pigmentation of the eyeshadows as I hoped for- there’s a big difference in the pigmentation with and without the primer and it helps a lot with poorly pigmented eyeshadows, which is great! I like the packaging a lot, I got shipped the new packaging even though it just came out! and the size is small and compact so it’s great to travel with.

But sometimes the primer might get oily and makes the eyeshadow crease during the day, which usually never happens to me. Overall, I’ll use it up but I don’t think ill repurchase just because of the creasing problem.

It REALLY enhances the pigment on your eyeshadow, you may think “meh my eyeshadow is pretty enough” but no it will REALLY make it pop, you can even use it for your eyeliner. It also makes your eyeshadow last, I have picked on it, rubbed it, smeared it, and my eyeshadow still looked brand new.

There are really no cons to this product, it is transparent and won’t interfere with the color of your eyeshadow plus it dries quickly, I really recommend it to impress your friends!.

This lasting multi eyebase really help my eye makeup to last longer under hot and humid condition! I really love this!

OULAC SCULPTING CONCEALER there isn’t oulac concealer on influenster so I figured I would review it under another product. This applicator reminds more of the newer liquid lip applicators. I very much liked it, easier to work with then just a regular rounded applicator.

The formula is smooth, incredibly blendable and not drying to the skin at all. It dries like a face product should without creating a cakey or creasing effect. Feels like there’s hydrating ingredients in it.

Plus it’s very affordable and a nice shade range. I would highly reccomend trying some out. It was long lasting and comftorable and looked great. The packing is incredibly sleek and elegant as well. Cute color scheme.

The jar looks fantastic and the colour too but as you apply it on skin (with base) it’s very poor. It give only a glitter finish and less colour intensity as I thought. It’s too oily and really not chip.

It’s kind a eyeshadow base with only shimmer effect but no colour. It doesn’t worth it’s price.

Oulac cosmetics are so amazing especially for the affordable prices they charge. I find that this Eyeshadow works best by applying with your finger not a brush. It’s very buildable and last all day. The only thing I didn’t like was the color I received was more pink than it was purple like I thought it would be.

My new go to liquid lip! I have been trying out liquid lips for months because I desperately wanted to love them, but kept getting disappointed due to the very drying effects, crumbling, and cracking.

I decided to try this one out in Ulta, and wore it around the store for and I actually forgot I had it on, it was so comfortable. It dries down completely in about 3-5 minutes and stays put, without drying out my lips or crumbling.

The color selection is a bit limited, currently, so I hope that they come out with more soon. I purchased Child Star, Queen B, Cool Girl (my favorite), and Who’s Zooming who (a gorgeous navy blue). I can wear them all day with minimal touch ups.

As usual, they do slide around when you eat something greasy or oily, but are waterproof. Th pigment is perfect, and does not streak when applying. I love, love, love these lips.

Not sure if it is any special. It does what a normal eye primer does nothing mindblowing. Not sure if it is better than the Urban Decay one. I feel I prefer the latter. There is a weird smell to this one I am not find of.

Only ND product I own so far. I bought this from Shaaanxo’s love for it. She was right. This product is also underrated not talked much about. This is the best eye primer I’ve ever used. It blocks out any veins or discoloration in my eyelids.

It comes in a few diff shades for diff skins. It’s matte skin like (but not drying) It makes shadows glide on, whether you set it with a powder first or not. It never creases is good for HOURS of wear or all day even.

I was pretty excited to try this because everything else I’ve bought from Juvia’s Place has been lovely. It went on fairly smoothly and was easy to pat in before applying eyeshadow- so good so far. Unfortunately, before I could even get on eyeshadow, it had already creased.

Not a good sign, but not a deal breaker. I patted it out, and continued. Sadly, from there, things got worse. It lifted in places while blending, and made blending out shadows very patchy and impossible to get a nice, even blend, especially around the edges of shadow.

It also creased AGAIN (no surprise there) with the eyeshadow on top after about 2 hours, and I noticed transfer between my lid and upper eyelid. Shimmers especially didn’t work well with this base. To add insult to injury, the next time I tried to use it, when I opened it, a bunch of watery liquid poured out, and I’ve had trouble since trying to get the product to re-emulsify.

I gave it two stars because it did do a decent job covering veins and slight discoloration before it turned into a patchy, creasy mess.

This is by far the best eyeshadow primer on the market right now. You need very little (seriously the tiniest amount is more than enough for both eyelids) to get the job done so this tube will last you a really long time.

This primer goes on smooth and dries smooth. It doesn’t cake up or flake off. It creates the perfect smooth base for eyeshadow application. My eyeshadow goes on smooth and the color always pops because of this primer.

It extends the wear time of my eyeshadow drastically compared to not using this primer. It also prevents my eyeshadow from creasing on my hooded lids. I use color1 and it works perfectly for me. I will never stop using this primer because it’s affordable, lasts forever and is the most effective eyeshadow primer I have ever used (and i have used so many different brands and types of eyeshadow primer).

I wanted to like this eyeshadow Primer so bad because I have never been disappointed by anything I have bought by Juvias place. I am a huge fan of the brand and have several products by them so I was super excited when they came out with an affordable eye Primer, and I’m hoping mine was just a fluke.

I purchased it an ulta the day after they started carrying it, so there was no way it was expired, but everytime I go to use it, an insane amount of clear oil comes out, to the point I’m surprised any product is left.

I try shaking it, pressing the tube to mix it together, but sadly it happens every time. Don’t get me wrong, after I expel the liquid, the actual product works decently, but so much is being squeezed out onto a paper towel and not actually used which is unfortunate.

I’m hoping I just got a bad bottle, so I will try it again and hopefully update with a more positive review. As you can see in the photos it does help make the eyeshadow colors pop. I used the Juvias Place I Live I Love Ice pallette which is so stunning!.

Bought this in white for use with brights/pastels. Creased a little after the initial application but smoothed out when applying eyeshadow. Shadows went on nice and bright. Huge tube so excellent value.

Seems to work well at keeping eyeshadows looking bright. Slight creasing on my oily hooded/deep set eyes after a few hours. Think I’ll have to layer it with an oil controlling primer. Works perfectly to enhance bright/pastel eyeshadows though so I would definitely keep using it as a base to make shadows pop more.

Better than the white jumbo pencils that are popular for the same purpose.

I bought this to experiment with using eye primers under my eyes as a way to stop my concealer from creasing or moving around too much during the day. This is a good, bank balance friendly option for this.

It does stop my under eyes from creasing for longer and it helps to keep my concealer in place. It is also an added bonus that there is some pigment to it as I have quite dark under eyes and this helps to colour correct it a bit.

I have testing with a few of my concealers (Nabla, Colourpop, Elf, Urban Decay) and found that it works well for all of them and doesn’t affect the performance of the concealer at all or make my under eye look cakey.

I have used this on my eyelids as well and honestly I do prefer using my Urban Decay primer potion as it is a bit more sticky. This product is best to apply, blend, let dry and then blend again to make sure there are no creases or anything.

I have also experimented with setting this base to see if it would affect the longevity of the products used on top and it acts similarly to how it does when not set with powder. I haven’t tried this with brighter colours or dark colours as I have only been going to work during lockdown and haven’t done a full glam in a while due to Lockdown.

Overall, I would say this is better for under the eyes as I don’t find it heavy or sticky (something which I don’t mind for my lid but don’t want under the eye) and find that it doesn’t crease or affect my concealer in any way.

For someone looking to experiment with the Wayne Goss trick, I would suggest this as a starting point.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Used as dorected i found it didn’t sit/blend well, but i did make my eyeshadow pop so i was willing to give it a go! Big mistake! My eyelids were so swollen after a couole of hours.

I looked like i had been crying for days. Then my eyes would not stop watering amd stinging. Took all of my make up off, bathed my eyes. still looked awful. They were so red, swollen and irritated. I was having to sooth them with chilled spoons! I lost around half of a brand new set of Russian lashes and almost 72hrs later my eyelids are still a little puffy.

Do not buy this product.
