20 Best White Gel Pens (2022 Updated)

My favorite pen. I’m pretty heavy handed when I write, but I prefer fine, needle-type nibs. I’ve never had issues with breaking the tip even when writing quite hard. This always writes nice and smoothly, both in midsummer and midwinter (~10 F to 105 F degrees where I am).

I’ve had issues with other pens with needle nibs that would not work well or at all in cold weather. This one works great! Not the best for art or decorative lettering with multiple colors, because it will smear.

Using it with highlighters, if you give it time to dry first it should be fine for one pass-over if you don’t mind the text being slightly less sharp, but still perfectly legible. For comparison, if you like the feeling of writing with UniBall Signo (all of my UniBall Signo are 0.

38mm for reference), but want a needle-type nib, this is the pen for you.

i can’t describe how much i love this pen. I’m VERY picky about my gold ink pens, before this pen i had never found a pen that had the color i wanted or the smooth ink i desired, i saw this pen a lot but was never really interested since previously before i had gotten a white gel pen from this brand and it was opaque at all how i wanted so in the end i decided to avoid this brand.

this pen, however caught my eye when i saw it used in the issues of Cosmic Cuties that i saw online and i saw that it had such a nice opaque color to it. i decided to buy it and it was absolutely perfect, i don’t use gold ink pens as much as i would like to so practically ended up fooling with it and doing silly doodles because the ink is SO smooth and the color is so nice.

the first thing i noticed with this pen is that, unlike other gel pens i had, they filled the inside cartridge with as much gel ink as possible which i was grateful for because i truly think that’s how they should sell all products to show the quality of the pen (and to not be stingy and cheap).

the body of this pen is slim and small and it fits perfectly in my small pencil pouch, i adore this pen and i wish i could use it more. honestly, if you are in need of a fine tip pen with perfect gliding, smooth ink then get this pen because its everything i dreamed for.

Very smooth writing. No skips like with many gel pens. Ink was comfortably visible (no squinting). Pen case was very comfortable to write with. Would buy again.

Very happy with these gelly roll pens. Sometimes in my rough pen sketches I need to remove some lines or excessive edging and these pens work great for that. They are also wonderful for creating star and other special effects on dark coloring book illustration backgrounds.

I’m a big fan of Sakura pens and these whilte ink gelly roll pens are really superb when used for lettering especially on dark papers. the ink flows smoothly and no blotting.

Love these white pens, they are of high quality and the white ink is dense enough to cover most other colours. Flows smoothly and easy to use.

Not gonna lie I saw the ad on Facebook and needed to try them. I’m usually a fan of Uni-Ball’s white gel pens because they’re just so juicy and opaque, and Gellyroll doesn’t cut it for me. These Arteza gel pens are something else.

The nibs have a clean, wonderful sharpness so you can assure accuracy, while still get that wonderful opaque white ink we all desperately need. Plus they come in 3 sizes. The pens aren’t too thin or light and feel nice in the hand.

10/10 a really solid product. I love them.

I am working on a little theater style artist book with cut paper pages. The first page is a black arch of the stage with the detail in white ink. In addition, I have used the pen to clean up some of my outlines and to make snow against watercolor art in the interior.

I have experimented with these pens on a variety of papers and keep thinking of more ways to use them. These are a true plus in my toolkit for book creation and to enhance my printmaking.

Love these pens. They write so smooth. The color is very good. I use them for my journaling, planning and teaching. I might have a small pen addiction so I’m pretty picky. I don’t just like any ol’ pen.

Try them for yourself before you listen to any bad reviews. I found them to be a favorite.

G-2 pens always feel good to write with and I love that, at Michael’s, I can get individual pens in colors beyond the usual “office” set (blue, black, red, and sometimes green). This metallic blue is gorgeous.

The Pilot gel pen is the best when compared to other brands offered at Michaels. It writes smoothly and offers nice selection of colors.

This pen is my best tool when I draw eyes of people or animals or anything that needs a superfine highlight in white. After you draw the white on top of your painted area to highlight or correct, I take a sharpened colored pencil, if it needs to match the background, or be a highlight slightly lighter than the base color.

I can use it for defining snow on trees, as well. Love these pens, and the only place that sells them near me is always out. That alone should tell you something about the quality. Be sure to let it dry, before you do anything else, and usually it has to be the finishing touch on the work.

Writes beautifully on black paper. Dries quickly enough to be suitable for a lefty. But, for $3. 00, this pen runs out of ink very quickly. I can only write a couple of letters with it before it runs out.

I can’t justify the cost for myself. This pen is perfect for accenting your drawing or correspondence, but not for large projects, nor for writing long missives.

Kinda a game changer. Whether placing highlights, adding to ink over paint or in lettering and writing this just comes in handy. The coverage has been great – just don’t press too hard. It need a lighter touch to flow.

But I fully recommend this pen. It’s great at what it does and works on paper, painted surfaces and a number of textures.

This is not made fine detailing since the nib is pretty thick and the ink flows easily, but is really nice for outlining or patterns. Works well with ink and watercolor, even paler washes. Very opaque even on pitch black which I love.

I would suggest this for art journaling.

I needed a white gel pen for a mixed media class, and since I have had bad experiences with ones that clump, skip, or refuse to write, I asked the teacher for her recommendation, which was the Uniball Signo.

It lasted for almost the entire class, writing reliably to the last drop. When I ran out, I tried another pen and it was so frustrating that I didn’t complete two art pieces until I could order more Signo pens in the mail.

I love the dimensionality of this pen so much, I have all the colors. It leaves a glossy raised line when dry. I use this black one to accentuate areas of my mixed media art. It glides over all the surfaces I’ve tried it with.

It would be awesome if Sakura would make a finer tipped glaze gel pen in addition to this one.

Really bold lines, the richest black pen you’ll ever see. The degree to which it’s raised depends on the absorbency of the paper (or whatever else you’re using it on). Make sure you give them a few minutes to dry before touching them since they take a while to set.

I’ve used mine both over and under watercolour, no smudging whatsoever. Just a bit thick of a line for some things I’d have liked to try with them.

I bought this pen to write a message on my Christmas cards which have white print on black card stock type paper. The paper is not glossy but flat stock so there shouldn’t be a problem. The pen is awful.

It skips something terrible and is completely useless to write on card stock type paper. A waste of money!.

I use the black glaze pen to draw lines and marks on top of an acrylic underlayer. I then do a final layer with neocolors ii (wax pastels). I can easily scrape off any of the wax pastel that covers the black glaze lines.

The black glaze lines are slightly raised, very black, and shiny. They add an extra wow factor to my art. I’ve only been able to find glaze pens in multicolor packs in Blick stores, so I buy the blacks individually from Blick’s website.

I’ve also tried the white and clear glaze pens. I was initially disappointed with the white pen because the lines it laid down were a translucent milky white. Then I read a review where someone said it was a super opaque white.

Gave it another try, this time laying down a thick layer. It’s translucent when wet, but becomes very opaque as it dries. It doesn’t have a glossy finish line the black glaze pens.

NOTE TO CUSTOMER : a lot of copic artists use the white gelly roll for highlights. This is not that pen or necessarily a good replacement for that. The ink comes out very differently from the gelly roll pens, and the look changes over the course of the pen drying.

Drying also takes much longer, so be careful! Definitely try it out on some test or scrap paper before jumping right in to something more delicate, there’s a learning curve. I didn’t end up liking this one since it wasn’t super bright on dark paper, but I did use the blue version on white paper, and the effect was lovely.

I would suggest one of the other colors unless you need white specifically, since you’ll be able to get mileage out of use on light and dark papers that way.

Such Incredibly bright, shiny, sparkly, turquoise gel Ink! I cannot believe how magical it looks on paper! Dries pretty quickly and when I move the paper around in the light it makes the ink look like slightly raised vinyl.

The Ink flows pretty smoothly in medium thick lines also I have had no Issue with the pen getting clogged. Adding layers will make the 3D effect more prominent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this pen!.

These pens are my go-to favorite! In my profession, I use pens all day long for everything, so my pen is my best friend, and I am super picky! This pen has never exploded, skipped or not written, broken, or anything! The ink is long lasting and smooth, bold and easy to see and read! The make of the pen is super durable, and does not break easily.

The pen is a click pen, so I can click it in when I am not using it, which is convenient because I don’t need to worry about losing a lid, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to play with their clicky pen, and it even has a durable clip so I can clip it to my pocket or notebook when I am not using it, so it doesn’t get lost! The pen is a little expensive for being “just a pen” but I gladly pay the price, because it is very well worth it to me! These are the only pens I will buy!.

I absolutely love these pens! I end up using them on all my papercrafting projects since they add a great “sparkle pop” to the project. It would be 5-star, except I dislike that the colors are different on black and white paper.

I always have to try them out before I use them to make sure they are what I want. I would rather just have them the same. Also, I wish there were a lot more colors that work on both black and white paper.

For example, if I want red ink, I have to use black paper. There is no red pen that works on both. I would buy every color pentel can up with and would love to see a huge set of colors available for purchase.

These are the first sparkly pens I have purchased. I wish there were an option of a finer line (point). As I have only had them a week, I haven’t checked for other colors. I would love to have more pastel shades, and possibly a clear option, with sparkles, of course.

The purple often puts ut more blue than purple. The black/red could use a bit more red. I would also like to see more bright colors. I am definitely going to look at purchasing more choices soon!.

It’s kind of writing on and off on dark papers. (see image) After 22 months, several pens dried off on the tips (or broken; I can’t tell) so they stopped working. You can see from one of the pictures that there is still quite a bit of ink inside.

When I took the ink out, it still works. I guess it’s the tip that stops working. Overall, it’s a love-hate cycle back and forth, sometimes frustrating when you write but nothing comes out; and next strike a lot comes out.

I bought this about 2 weeks ago, and I really love the fine, firm point. The pigmentation is great, and the overall consistency is smooth. The only complaint I would give is the pigmentation on some of the colors.

For example, the colors grey, pink, and light blue. I would of loved to have a more pigmented shade with a more attracting vibrant tone. I write a lot of notes, so sometimes those colors wont even get noticed and I’ll miss information.

But, everything else is exceptional. I love the packaging, the colors, the fine tip, and the marker type of liner.

I decided to buy these after many recommendations from other stationery addicts. The pen has good weight compared to other click gel pens. The pen is not as heavy as some metal pens but enough weight to feel fancy.

The aesthetic of the pen is also beautiful and the pink pen is the most flattering. These are definitely metallic pens and will show up on white paper and craft paper (the pink does kind of disappear depending on which angle you are looking at the ink).

I do like the pens but I’m not in love with them. I might get refills when the metallic ink runs out because I really like the aesthetic of the pens.

I was debating whether I need these pens because I already have a very comparable set of Papermate Ink Joy pens. After testing them out, I admit they are very similar. I really like my Ink Joy pens but in comparison, writing with them feels a little more scratchy.

Also, to me, the flow and color of the Tul pens seems a little more bold. However, I would say the balance of the Ink Joy pens is a little more satisfying. I also like the feel of the rubbery coating over the entire barrel.

The weight and balance of the Tul pens feels just a little more flimsy. While the metal tip at the base is very nice, the metal looking plastic above, when you get above the rubbery grip, is just a little too lightweight.

The look is that you would expect metal but it’s not.
