20 Best Whitening For Laundry (2022 Updated)

I’ve been using this Laundry Whitener for well over a year. It Whitens your white clothes even fine delicates in the washing machine with hot water and a cup of salt, using hot water. White Brite restores the White to whites , removing stains without the yellowing effect often accompanied by using Bleach.

Depending on how much whitening is needed, for me, determines the amount of time I leave my clothing soaking in the washing machine with White Brite as well as the amount of clothing being whitened. Works on Dress shirt Collars, Fine Lace that’s turning yellow or dingy as well as on any materials from Jeans to the most expensive clothing items and the least expensive all fabrics.

I have left a full load soaking over night. Allow it to rinse and follow by washing with my laundry detergent, and fabric softener. I have not used on synthetic items. Your clothes will not wear out from the harshness of bleach, and will look as if Newly purchased as white and bright as I have ever seen and experienced.

I live in a very small town that was founded in 1850 and I’m pretty sure the town is just now changing the water pipes that have been in the ground since then, started noticing after the started changing the pipes my toilet started getting this iron rust color film on it every day I even now I have to clean it everyday, started noticing our whites where getting a reddish-brown tint I don’t like to use stright bleach, so I seen this and decided to give it a try and you know ya always have them few socks that seem to escape the first load OMG THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE 2 SOCKS.

One look like I just took it out of the package and the other was still the dingy reddish rusty color until he too got a new lease on life. A must try for whites , they also make a rust out version also works very very well.

Love this stuff great for if u have well water! Definitely gets ur whites back to that bright white ! I was definitely impressed and shocked something actually worked this good. I’ve tried many home remedies and suggestions from Google and this was the winner ! And it’s very affordable on Amazon and must wash in hot watter I’ll add a pic later 😁.

The only thing I disliked is that Walmart charged me a 50% increase over the price the 3rd party charged me. I do not think that this is fair. The product itself is very very good. I looked everywhere for the product after my Walmart discontinued it during the COVID.

The only product that I have found that would actually get my white clothes clean.

White Brite removes the yellowing and the dingy appearance white garments often develop over time. The White Brite product is easy to use and effective. For me, it’s a quality product sold at a reasonable price.

My white clothes are no longer yellowish they look new and my color clothes are vivid. Love it. Thank you.

This stuff is great, I’ve been using it for years. It brightens clothes and is great for things like cleaning tile grout and removing odors. This product doesn’t really need another glowing review. the main reason I’m leaving this review is the uninformed reviewer who complains about this product’s EWG ratings.

They are just blindly looking at EWG ratings without looking at the details of why they are rated that way. if they HAD actually read past the rating they would see that the F ratings are automatically given because they don’t have an ingredients list for the product in their database (so they default to F), and the C/D ratings are because these products contain natural fragrances and essential oils; if you make a product that is just lemon essential oil mixed with pure water, EWG will rate it a C/D for being an essential oil or fragrance, or even an F if they don’t have the ingredients list in their database.

Which is absurd because many of these things are powerful natural ingredients that are extremely effective for home cleaning. So educate yourself instead of blindly parroting incorrect information. it’s always important to think critically and make sure you’re putting information in context.

As a migraine sufferer who is extremely sensitive to smells, I’ve never had an issue with a single laundress product and they have all worked better than anything else I’ve ever used. The light, clean natural scents of their products make me feel zen.

This is a really great brand for people with sensitivities.

Used 2 full capfuls on a large load of my white flowered duvet, solid light blue bedsheets, and solid white pillowcases. White pillowcases are old and has yellow on it and the duvet has a long part that turned yellow.

I started the load with hot water, so that the “all -purpose bleach alternative” would get activated, then I switched the washer machine to be filled up with cold water because the sheets care says it’s best to not wash in hot water.

It did a normal wash cycle with cold water and then tried in low-medium heat. Whites came out whiter and the light bluesheet looked brighter, but the yellow parts were still there. The next day I tried again with 2 full capfuls to wash only the white flowered duvet and white pillowcases.

This time I had the washer start off with hot water. After the 1st wash, I interrupted the cycle to let it the items soak for 4-5 hours and then finished the wash cycle in cold water. Took it out and the yellow was still there.

I don’t know if I’m suppose to let it soak overnight or maybe the yellow stains are too strong to be removed. This product is safe on colors. I would recommend this product if you just want to freshen up your colors.

I wouldn’t recommend this product to help address fabrics that has strong discolorations/stains.

*Update* Absolutely worthless for laundry! I am beyond let down by this stuff. It did absolutely nothing to help my laundry, even little stains that were from today. Still there. I did everything as instructed for the “40% better than bleach” to work as it should, including presoak/pretreating, hot water wash, and a VERY small load of whites.

Absolutely no benefit whatsoever. Original review – I have a collection of extremely vintage clothing, especially robes and aprons, that are stained and faded beyond belief from being used for decades.

I know better than to attempt harsh chemical (bleach) because theyre priceless and I don’t want to ruin them. Then I got a sample of this to try out, so I decided to actually do a load of whites specific to see if this stuff I’d gentle yet strong enough (as it claims) to get the stains off one robe in particular (the one pictured in my review) This product retails anywhere from $10-15 USD, as well as finding liquid version, possible, etc of this product.

So, as we speak, due to claims and pricing, they’re getting 4 stars. I WILL update this review for what happens when the clothes come out of the wash. so. Literally, only time will tell. I followed the instructions exactly, as well as the settings for the wash for best results for the type of washing machine I have.

I’ve been bleaching my whites for years for brighter whites. However there’s always the risk of having bleach ruin non-white portions on not completely white items (borders, stripes, etc). I’ve had so many sheets with grey portions or stripes on bedding that were turned pink when the concentrated bleach touch it in the wash before it was diluted.

Recently we moved and got a vertical loading high efficiency wash/dryer and liquid bleach is no longer an option because there is no water-filled tank to dilute the bleach. My first bleach wash ruined so many items that I had to find an alternative.

I’ve tried Oxyclean as a detergent before but never thought of using it on whites. Lately I read online about the soaking method. I was super skeptical, how does soaking in water without agitation whiten whites? I put some pillow covers in a bucket and let it soak overnight with Oxyclean White Revive.

I forgot about it and left it for two nights. I was amazed when I pulled the pillow covers out and the water was FILTHY BROWN. I literally did no scrubbing or mixing and somehow the Oxcyclean removed layers of soaked in dirt and grime from the fibers and turned the water murky brown! My pillow covers were SNOW WHITE! I didn’t remember how white they were from the day I bought it since they turned “cream” colored over the years.

A quick wash in the washing machine (No bleach) and they came out gleaming white. The best part was that the covers had black stripes on the side and they STAYED BLACK! There was no color runs at all.

I tried a bunch of other items, white shirts, white sweaters, more white sheets and a grey sweater in the tub. Like last time the water turned a gross brown and yellow without any work on my behalf. My sheets came out perfectly white and small stains on my shirt’s collars and sleeves were gone! I’m amazed and this will be my new whites routine! It’s gentle – won’t eat away fibers and brightens whites way better than bleach did.

(I received this product free from Influenster and Oxiclean in exchange for my honest review) Oxi Clean has been my go to brand for years when it comes to pretreatment and stain removal! All of Oxiclean products are reliable and I’ve never had any issues with any of the ones I’ve used.

I was very excited when I received a sample of White Revive Laundry Whitener Stain Remover in my SummerVoxBox. This was the first time I used this specific Oxiclean product( I have the OG Oxiclean) I used the sample in a medium sized load of white towles.

I was pleasantly surprised by how white and clean my towels looked after just one use of this stuff. In My Opinion this oxiclean product has more whitening power than regular chlorine bleach with out the strong bleach smell.

Oxiclean has a fresh and clean scent thats not to over powering! It can be used with all washing machines and is even safe on colors. White Revive does not replace your regular detergent and is more like a booster which needs to be added to your detergent.

I decided to try this on my kitchen sink which has very stubborn stains that no scouring powder or scrubber could get rid of. I took a few scoops and scrubbed in to the problem areas of the sink and then filled it with warm water.

I let it set for 30 minutes and my sink was the whitest it’s ever been. I then moved to my percolator coffee maker which was deeply stained with burnt coffee. I added a scoop of the sets to The Percolator and filled it up with warm water.

I watched it Fizz away all of the build-up on the sides of the pot inside. After 30 minutes t got rid of a year of coffee buildup. It was just like new. I also use it in my laundry for my whites. You do need to give it time to work on really deep stains.

But it works with very little effort. My favorite kind of cleaning.

This is very strange – the product description indicates it can be used to whiten a toilet bowl, but when I read the directions on the back of the package once I’d received it, the instructions say your laundry must be washed in hot water! The problem I have with this is that so much of my white wash is supposed to be washed in cold water, which is why I was looking for a whitener.

I wrote to the “laundry guru” at Molly’s Suds and they suggested I soak in hot water and then wash in cold because “cold water would not work well unfortunately. ” Not sure, then, how it works in the toilet unless it only doesn’t work in cold water for clothes? So this seems to be a waste of money for anyone looking for a whitener for cold water wash.

I was experiencing itchiness and I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. then I realized it was bleach! In my search for a quality non chlorine bleach, I discovered Molly’s Suds (on another site but I now prefer Grove).

The itching stopped, my clothes were softer and my whites AND colors were brighter. I even started using the peppermint laundry powder and wool balls to replace dryer sheets. I recently added essential oils (from Grove) to the wool balls and I enjoy my clothes again!! I no longer itch, my clothes (whites and colors) are brighter, they smell light and calming (I have asthma), I spend less money, use less product, have less drying time, lint and wrinkles and my washer even looks shinier!.

White items MUST be laundered in HOT water if you want them to be white. Never use a lesser temperature water. I had this bottle for awhile but decided to use it today on white rags. Rags which had flaxseed oil from cast ironing cleaning/seasoning.

Rags that had grease and other dirt that never fully comes out. I have necer been able to remove the yellow left by flaxseed oil. Until now! Just an amazing product. Soaked in hot water for an hour then washed in hot water and detergent along with the white brite soaking water.

Never have these rags been so clean. However, the smell of the product is unbearable. Next time i will soak in a bucket in the backyard! I am so pleased and amazed with White Brite.

I was hoping to cut back on a lengthy process of trying to get white clothes, white once again, if not brighter. The pre-soaking is definitely a must because a lot of the dirt and grease stains will come off of the clothes during this process.

My advice is, is if you have stained white collared dress shirts, to pre-treat the collars with a stain remover the best you can because only so much of it will come off of it during the wash cycle, but it will definitely whiten and brighten the clothes after only one treatment.

I plan on doing a second treatment on the same clothes to get rid of the now faded stains on the collars that I treated afterwards. I plan on buying this product once again. Also, the product once in water, gives off an odd chemcial odor and I suggest washing the clothing twice after the first wash to reduce the smell by just washing the shirts or clothing with regular detergent and softener.

The pictures I’ve provided show a side by side comparison of a treated vs an untreated white clothing. The collar stain was also not treated beforehand with any stain lifter, but did look noticeably less dark than beforehand but still could be improved furthermore with a stain remover spray or whichever technique you have.

I dissolved it in my washer as instructed and put two vintage tablecloths that were yellowed from age into the water. I agitated the water by hand and when I pulled them out part way to check them, there were pinkish violet blotches on the fabric where nothing was before.

It wasn’t food residue because they were washed prior to whitening. I’m sick that they were ruined. I’m so glad I didn’t use it on my quilts. This is the second time it’s ruined fabric. If someone wants a product that takes the yellow out without damaging fabric then try Restoration.

I learned the hard way and will never use anything else.

I have tried every whitener on the market to whiten my whites in my iron contaminated well water. Nothing worked and most made the rust adhere to my whites leaving ugly brownish orange spots. When I saw this product advertised I thought why not give it a try.

I followed the directions for soaking with a load of white socks that I figured it wouldn’t hurt if it didn’t work. To my delight not only did it not react badly in my water but my white socks looked bright white like new socks.

After the sock experiment I tried white tee shirts and same wonderful results! I have finally found a whitener that works in my water. I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with rust spotted whites.

Recently learned about this stuff and it does not disappoint! I like to soak the load of laundry in this and then wash as normal. Or if not too bad, you can just add it to the load and wash. If there are pesky stains, I like to add the product directly on it and scrub it in with some water.

Let sit for a bit and then wash. It’s worked for everything so far!.

This product is powdered simialr to Oxyclean. Required 2 applications to remove deoderant. The ole Brite White Liquid manuf by Adeco, out of FL, was the REAL schinizle, farizzle, dizzle. The later, took out persperation, blood, glue, grass and a host of other stains.

With regards to todays stain, I had to use oven cleaner and the White Brite on the 2nd pass. I assume White Brite purchased the Brite White Adeco Company and reversed the names, changing it’s formula to dry power.

What a disappointment.

I had lots of yellowed white undershirts that I just didn’t want to wear anymore because of the dinginess. I used White Brite on them and now they are white again! Probably 1 or 2 of them might need a second treatment but I am really happy with the results.

So easy to use, too! BTW, bleach did not do the job, it took White Brite!.

Had a very light woven white blouse I spilled coffee on. Stain removers did not work. Did not want to use clorox. Soaked in this product as directed, and stain gone and blouse looked brand new. Had originally bought to get grey out of socks and bras.

Have only used once for this.

First off, this is a product that # Influenster made me try. I kept seeing reviews about the WHITE REVIVE specific OXI CLEAN and finally picked up a bottle. A lot of the reviews I saw were on the powder form, but I don’t like or use powder detergent.

The white revive has 40% more whitening power than chlorine bleach and since it’s chlorine free, it’s safe for use on colors too. This is essentially a super- charged laundry whitener. You can use it several different ways: pre-soak your “dingy” whites for six hours then wash as normal with your regular detergent, pre- treat your tough stains with this for several minutes before washing, add to wash along with regular detergent on normal wash cycle or hand wash stains with it.

This is unbelievable at making your whites SPARKLING white again!! I was scared to death to use on my very expensive and delicate Cozy Earth white sheets, but this not only did a great job with whitening, but it also didn’t harm the fabric.

I have a lot of old tees and tanks that I used this on with the same wonderful results. They look brand new when some are actually about 15 years old. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

WARNING: period blood / blood stain images / period talk ! I’ve had these adorable black and white striped overalls that were unusuable due to a completely unexpected stress induced period at the time staining them pretty bad many years ago.

They’ve been through the wash twice with no results and can’t be bleached so since then I’ve kinda put them on the back burner at ever fixing them and forgot about them for years. I received this product in my Summer Staples VoxBox and thought: maybe I should test this on my overalls.

I hand washed these for about 10-15 minutes and the results were amazing! The staining isn’t completely gone but it certainly isn’t that noticeable from afar. The middle of the process was worrying because the blood did darken at first while the soap was processing but once I rubbed and scrubbed it in, the staining lightened.

mind you, these were stained for +6 years! I highly recommend this product and will be encouraging my family to add this to our laundry routine. below is the before picture from the outside of the fabric (staining actually looked darker than that, my camera and lighting washed it out) and after pictures of the outside and inside of the fabric!.

I can’t recall when I began using tide laundry detergent. College perhaps. It’s been at least 20 years. I now have to end this relationship. One of us changed for the worst and it wasn’t me. Why, why, WHY do marketing people believe successful things MUST be changed? Did sales of original tide decrease during the pandemic? Very unlikely.

Anyways, the new “improved” yet unannounced change has left me with clothes smelling so strongly I cannot wear them and have to store them in my garage. The smell began to overwhelm my entire 2400 Sq ft house with just a single laundry basket of clothes.

I tried washing again with just warm water and double rimsing in both my top-load and HE machines. Natural fibers do better but I fear I’ll have to donate and replace several hundred dollars of synthetic fabric athletic training clothes.

The directions for use are pretty straight forward, for standard machines, add directly into the drum with your detergent BEFORE adding laundry. For HE washers, add with detergent into detergent dispenser.

To treat stains, add directly to stain and rub gently. Wait 5-10 minutes then wash. When I used my sample packet I expected results similar to using bleach, but when my wash was done my jaw dropped! My whites were VIVIDLY WHITE!! Like brand new white! They looked incredible! I am definitely switching to OxiClean White Revive!.

would have been great, if half of the bottle didn’t leak out, during transit. it was taped and put in plastic bag for transit. but both bottles leaked out into box,. bleaching the box too. good thing I put it on my floor and not the carpet when I brought it in my house.

But still a great product. besides the delivery.

Smells fresh and a little flowery. Not overpowering though. It does a good job of brightening up the white clothes. I bought this when my usual brand wasn’t available. I would buy it again.

I LOVE this product, this will get the nasty cakes on baking stains off your pans! Mold GONE! Coffee stain on a white shirt GONE. Very strong smell, but worth it!
