10 Best Whole Peeled Tomatoes (2022 Updated)

I received, Colavita Diced Tomatoes Premium Italian Imported. This box had the freshest chunks of tomatoes that I have experienced from a box. It was like going to my garden and freshly picking a tomato.

There is no salt added. They are non- gmo, which I love. Italian Tomatoes Diced to Perfection. The box is Tetra pack packaging minimizes waste and the carbon imprint. I made a amazing chili with mine.

You can use these tomatoes as a base for soup, in home made pasta sauce, in pizza or chili. This a product of Italy. I highly recommend this product.

I would have never thought that one could review a can of tomatoes but I was definitely wrong. I do not normally pay much attention when purchasing tomatoes to use for a meal although I certainly will now.

These tomatoes have a unique flavor that is instantly pleasing to the taste. The have a very robust flavor that is very much noticeable than your everyday tomatoes you get at the local grocery store.

I will never buy any other brand again. These made my family asked what I did differently to my dishes I cooked. That is a win for me. I very much recommend these.

When the leaves begin to fall off the trees I know it’s time to make some green chili stew to warm my soul. I recently used Colavita’s diced tomatoes in my chili and it was divine! I also liked the fact the packaging was made to be eco friendly.

Although the packaging was a little cumbersome to open while cooking, once I finally found a pair of scissors to cut it open, it was easy to pour into my pot. I decided to perform a taste test and compare it to my usual canned diced tomatoes and found Colavita’s brand to taste more natural and seemed like it didn’t have all of that salt the other brands contain.

I will definitely be using this brand again.

These are very good quality peeled tomatoes and I gladly recommend them. Being a native of Italy, I can discern the difference between barely edible and tasty. These tomatoes will make any dish a success.

They are pricey, though. Also, although I appreciated the careful packaging, a bit more effort must be made to avoid that the cans are dented in transit.

I like the naturally sweet flavor and that there is only 20 mg of sodium per serving compared to others that have 260 mg. I prefer to add my own salt when cooking. I make sauce: Saute small onion in a couple of T olive oil and cook till onion is soft, add an optional clove of garlic cook for 1 min.

, add 1/2 to 1 tsp of salt & the tomatoes, 1/4 tsp dried red pepper for kick (or 1/8 or Cayenne), 1 tsp of dry basil or use a handful of fresh basil near the end of cooking so it does not lose flavor.

Break up tomatoes as they are cooking wit spoon. (You could also puree to desired consistency with an immersion blender after they have been cooking for awhile for a smoother sauce. I also add a couple handfuls of chopped kale (stems removed) the last few minutes for added nutrition.

Serve over pasta and top with fresh Parmesan cheese! Delicious!.

I love these tomatoes. Whole Foods stopped carrying them so I search all over the web for them. I’ve even ordered a case of them from PA.

I used the Colavita Diced Italian Imported Tomatoes recently in a large pot of spaghetti sauce that I canned and put on my shelf for long term storage. I, normally, have a difficult time with canning of tomatoes due to the acidity level causing the end product to have a very sharp taste.

These tomatoes were perfect and did not require the additon of sugar or heavy spices as is normally the case. There was just a great, fresh picked tomato taste that you just don’t find with processed foods.

I would definitely recommend this brand to canners or home cookers alike.

Non ci vuole molto. Spesso ne faccio un sugo con uno spicchio d’aglio, un po’ di spezie tra cui l’immancabile origano, un pezzetto di dado vegetale, qualche cappero e frullo col frullatore ad immersione.

Rapido e gustoso, anche da bere così!.

I’m addicted – best tinned tomatoes ever. Made delicious cold soup in the heatwave too, when blended with a few herbs, seasoned and chilled.

Little seasoning is needed and it’s almost like putting A1 on a steakhouse filet mignon- it’d be insulting to the restaurant. A little salt brings these to perfection. Note, they are a bit acidic, but that’s the point of San Marzano tomatoes.

If want something sweeter, put ketchup on it, peasant!.

I have searched everywhere for citric acid free tomatoes, well done Holland & Barrett. These are perfect and great quality, very tasty. Competitively priced. Thank you so much, please get more stock asap.

Very good tomatoes, nice and juicy. Makes delicious sauces. I especially love the can with no PBA in the lining.

Bought these as there are no nastiess in the lining of the tin, expensive on comparison however I don’t want to eat chemicals

Cans were dented beyond being openable. Most labels were torn or faded. These cans were obviously groceries store rejects. Cans were loosely packed in boxes. There were not sealed in a single 12-pack unit adding further damage.

my family and I have been purchasing Cento canned tomatoes my ENTIRE life. seriously, I remember having pasta when I was maybe 6 years old and it was made from scratch with these tomatoes. I’ve tried all the cans – crushed, whole, whole with basil, organic whole, the paste – and I recommend all of them to make your homemade marinara sauce.

it really just is the best canned tomato brand. it’s pretty much the only canned tomato brand I buy – unless it’s sold out and I’m forced to try something new. 10/10 just buy this and make your homemade pasta sauce :).

I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE BIG BOX THEY SENT THESE IN IT WAS TO LARGE AND THE CANS FLEW ALL OVER THE OTHER ITEMS AND 9 OUT OF 12 CAN OF THE TOMATOES WERE DENT, SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS. THIS SHOWS NO RESPECT FOR PEOPLES ORDRS AND THE FOOD, WHICH WE KNOW IS NOT CHEAP ALSO THE PASTE BOXES ENDED UP ON THE BOTTOM, DON’T KNOW JUST HOW BAD THEY ARE BROKEN.

Please keep stocking these Asda. They are by far the tastiest tomatoes I’ve had. Great mashed up and used for pasta sauce, bolognese, or have on wholemeal toast. Add a pinch of sea salt, perfect. Yes, they are more expensive and normally I’m very frugal by buying cheaper brands, but it’s well worth spending more, due to the quality of taste.

The best most delicious rich tasting tomatoes I have ever had. Perfect with a full English breakfast, I also use them to make pasta sauce and pizza topping. Please please do not stop stocking them. Definitely recommend.

I usually buy Napolina or Cirio (but them when on offer) but these were a free gift a couple of weeks ago as Mutti is running a campaign. Too many of the peeled tomatoes still had the hard stalk in situ (3) which surprised me and there was some skin.

There were also 2 tomatoes that were half yellow which I’d never seen before.

I have had two very negative experiences with Muir Glen whole tomatoes. The first was finding a rotten black tomato in the can. I wrote to the company about their quality control, but they apparently didn’t do much about it.

A month or so later, I opened a can of whole tomatoes — and it was nothing but tomato juice. There wasn’t a single tomato in the can. I use a lot of canned tomatoes, but this has never happened to me in over 70 years.

Again I wrote to the company, but I don’t expect any improvement. These examples speak to a serious flaw in Muir Glen’s quality control, or their processing methods. Anyway, I’m done with them and will stick to organic Cento San Martino tomatoes from now on.

I use this product to make cabbage soup. It has a mild flavor that can be used as a base. After I add the cabbage, carrots, onions and seasonings, it is a nice hearty soup. I usually have to cut up the tomatoes because they are whole.

This is usually a fantastic product. However, today 11 of the 12 cans ordered look to have been improperly sealed so it appears that tomato sauce had oozed out between the lid and can. I would still buy this product again because the fire roasted taste is superb, but I may go back to buying in-store in order to inspect the cans before purchasing.

A well-regarded Italian chef I once worked with told me to always buy whole tinned plum tomatoes (tins of chopped uses lower quality and rejected fruit) and that Cirio was a reliable brand. I’ve followed his advice ever since and not been disappointed.

I’ll admit that Mutti brand are probably the best quality available but they tend to be far more expensive, especially when Cirio are on offer and sold at half price. BTW, people who moan about bits of peel or stalk make me laugh: it doesn’t take a second to remove the odd piece of debris that may have escaped the canning process.

Tomatoes are natural products and they do come with skins and stalks….

Best tinned tomatoes. Whole, peeled, naturally sweet tomatoes of Italian origin, with rich thick tomato sauce. You can always easily chop them if you need. I make so many dishes with them. I guess my favorite use of these is for shakshouka and chili.

Cirio has a good reputation overall, but these whole peeled plum tomatoes recently have found them with skin still left on three quarters of at least 2 whole tomatoes with unripe ‘tops’ which had to be cut of and binned.

Had 4 packets of 4 tins and at least half of the tins had the same problem. Maybe this ‘batch’. So won’t buy again even though purchased when reduced to half price.
